I’ll Never Have a Pity Party
I’ll never have a pity party, or celebrate my demise,
teeth gnawing on pulled hearts strings
I’ll never go down dark corridors of solemnity,
as if I were so indispensable
No one should be on a pedestal, flanked by a bleeding heart
It’s only a lack of time that’s deceiving
before discovering a fanciful idol’s
imperfection
I will not weep
because I am too old and wise
to collect tears of sorrow
for past mistakes
that long since passed.

A few "NPCs"
I can't say ALL of them will make an appearance in the comic, actually, but these are NPCs that are important to the Links, in one way or another, while also having a few significant design differences from canon (thus why no Linebeck or spryte lol.)

Do you ever think that the heroes of the past watch over the newest hero as they embark on their adventure?
Maybe as Link dives from the Sky Islands, he thinks he sees a man falling right next to him, glee on the man's face as a saddled bird catches him midair before disappearing into the atmosphere.
As Tulin blows a final gale to position Link right over Colgera's weak spot, do you think that, for a moment, the breeze alongside Link becomes the face of a boy no older than 12, who smiles at him and then waves a swirling baton, giving Link the final nudge he needs to finish the fight?
Perhaps, as Link climbs the waterfalls of the Zora Domain, he sees another Hylian reflected back at him, one who dons a Zora mask and leaps out of the waterfall alongside him before becoming mist?
And when Link handles weapons carelessly or deals in elemental magic, sometimes one to four small Hylians in different colored tunics appear at his side, and sometimes they enjoy watching over the local blacksmith's shoulder when they can.
As Link takes on the monster forces of Lurelin Village, do you think that sometimes he swears there is another alongside him, a soldier in a royal blue scarf helping him to rid the village of the hordes?
When Link watches the packs of wolves run below him, sometimes one catches his eye- a striking black-and-white wolf with intricate markings on its forehead and muzzle greyed with age. Their eyes meet, cold blue to a deep cerulean, and the wolf disappears. But it will return to check on him again soon. It always does.
When Link slows time for just a moment to aim his arrows midair, sometimes a ghostly pair of armored hands steady his grip. And when recall is used, Link can swear he hears a somehow familiar tune echo in his ears: A, D, F, A, D...
And there are more.
There is a boy in a conductor's hat who cheers when Link successfully makes a machine work.
There is a teenager in a red tunic who helps Link with puzzles, snarking at monsters when they come near and sometimes talking to another ghost that looks like he could be the boy's dark world counterpart, often trying to snag rupees from Link lightheartedly, a bunny hood often covering his face.
And when Link finally faces Ganon for the last time, they are all there.
"It was once dangerous to go alone.
But you are not alone, now.
Not anymore."

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok so Seven(Eight) tears are nearly all accounted for:
Riju has an orange tear, presumably related to her new ability to use Urbosa's Fury
Sidon has a blue tear, with an eye symbol that I first thought was Sheikah, but may more likely be the other eye motif seen on other Zonai gear
Tumblr media
Yunobo presumably has another tear, given that we do see the Boulder Breaker in the trailer, and if we follow the pattern of there being Four Champions, he would be the most likely canidate for having another tear (Unless they fucking give it to his unknown brother to something and sideline him like Teba idk)
Tulin has a green tear with some as of yet unknown markings but they may be related to runes or abilities given that--
Zelda's Tear has the rune of the recall Zonai ability that Link has. I am also acting under the assumption that Zelda and the mysterious other girl we see in the trailer use the same tear, given they both have the exact same outfits, the exact same eye color, the same golden hair, the same golden magic, and she is definitely 1000% a previous incarnation of Zelda from the wall carvings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, speaking of wall carvings, you may notice that we have two depictions of the tears. The image of the easter bunny Zonai diety surrounded by seven tears, and the one of easter bunny holding hands with a previous Zelda with two tears.
The question then becomes whether this depicts an exchange of tears [Given we see a figure talking to Zelda and putting a hand on her with something glowing on their hand, and we may be able to assume that they are the most likely canidate for giving Zelda the tear since I don't think Zelda just happened to stumble across her ner Zonai outfit and jewelry, so it had to have been given to her by someone] OR a hint of an eighth tear held by this easter bunny guy [it could be some scenerious where they are combining their powers/tears to defeat Ganondorf, especially since the other subjects below and above them are making the same circular symbol with their hands (Similar to the dragon logo of Tears of the Kingdom) which could mean this is some sort of ritual or ceramony]
We have 5 tears to the New Champions and to Zelda.
Ganondorf has a tear. We see on his forehead that it is red, but we also see it depicted as grey.
Now. If we assume there are seven total tears. The explanation for the last two tears would be:
Ganon only has one tear, and Link has the final tear.
For this explanation, we assume that Ganon's tear has simply changed appearance, prehaps from drained power or corruption, pick your poison.
[In fact, we see that the Zonai abilities that Link uses do go grey when you cannot use them in the gameplay trailer, but it could just as easily be UI/gameplay thing that has nothing to do with it. But still, something to note.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secondly, we presume Link would be the most likely canidate for the final tear as it would make sense narratively since he is always the guy to be collecting all the little allies and friends to defeat the big bad. But also we also see that the back of Link's hand glows:
Tumblr media
This is the same glowing magic as seen wielded by Zelda's incarnation. So this glow must originate from a tear. So at some point, Link is in possession of one. Making a total of seven.
Now given that his hand glows the same color as Zelda's magic, it is not an impossibility that Zelda has somehow given her tear to Link.
The symbol on Link's hand IS similar to the recall symbol, uncannily so, I'd say...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, even if we say that this is not a seventh tear and just Zelda's tear given to Link, we can STILL potentially believe that Link has a seventh tear since his hand glows multiple colors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link's hand is only that distinct, Zonai green when he uses ultrahand, fuse, and ascend. Recall/Rewind is the ONLY ABILITY that has the golden glow.
Now there are lots of implications to this that you can trace to any number of additional theorys i.e. rewinding the mastersword to repair it, greater time-travel shenanigans, scenrious in which Link does meet up with Zelda much earlier in the game than thought, etc etc etc. But for the purposes of this post I am only going to focus on the fact that This is a demonstration of Link having more than one option for powers. Meaning that his green Zonai abilities could still originate from a different tear of his own. SO that would STILL make Seven Tears Total.
It could even be the glowing tear seen by the Zonai figure who's hand was on Zelda's shoulder, especially since they have the same jewelery and sharp nails as Link's hand
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[the fingers of the other ghostly glowing hand are very thing, but perhaps in the same way Ganondorf got rehydrated, this Zonai figure rehydrated?]
Now. If there are eight tears:
There are two possibilities:
Ganondorf has two tears. Both the red tear and the grey tear. As to where he got the additional tear? Well
Tumblr media
Given that the only depiction of a potential eigth tear is with the incarnation of Zelda and the easter bunny Zonai, they would both be canidates for having given it to Ganondorf/Ganondorf stealing it from them. Given that we see Zelda has her tear still in her possession, that leaves the latter option.
The glowing tear on Easter Bunny does have that same purple/golden hue as the grey tear Ganondorf has
Additional evidence for a figure possessing an eighth tear and giving/having it stolen by Ganon is that the wall carving easter bunny has the same closed third eye as this figure
Tumblr media
They have malice embers glowing around them, implying they are either in conflict with Ganondorf and his malice, or they are aiding ganondorf with something. Eitherway, it places them both in the same room as each other which is an opportunity for one to take a tear.
The Second possibility:
Link has two tears. As previously established, Link has an assortment of different powers from differentiating sources, so he could very well have two different tears that aren't related to the Zonai figure or Zelda's tears at all.
So just to recap on the tears:
Possibility One: Eight Tears - The Zonai have an additional Tear
Ganondorf - Red Tear
Riju - Orange Tear
Tulin - Green Tear
Sidon - Blue Tear
Yunobo - [Assumed] Unseen Tear
Zelda/Zelda's incarnation - Golden Tear
Link - Unknown Hero Tear
Zonai Figure - Purple/Gold Tear
*This arrangement works whether or not you believe Ganon as two tears, as if he does, he would have stolen the grey tear from the Zonai figure. If Ganon doesn't have two tears, then the purple/golden tear we see just stays in the Zonai's possession
Possibility Two: Seven Tears - Link has the Final Tear inherited from the Zonai Figure
Ganondorf - Red Tear
Riju - Orange Tear
Tulin - Green Tear
Sidon - Blue Tear
Yunobo - [Assumed] Unseen Tear
Zelda/Zelda's incarnation - Golden Tear
Link - Purple/Gold Tear
Possibility Three: Seven Tears - Link does not have a Tear/inherits Zelda's
Ganondorf - Red Tear
Riju - Orange Tear
Tulin - Green Tear
Sidon - Blue Tear
Yunobo - [Assumed] Unseen Tear
Link/Zelda/Zelda's incarnation - Golden Tear
Zonai figure - Purple/Gold Tear

@gremlin-of-the-wilds
It took a hard battle in the air, but combined with Tulin's aid, the ice worm of the air, Colgera, was defeated. As the beast crashes and disappears in a puff of black smoke, something appears at the bottom. Or rather, several things, actually. The usual heart container, a strange stone and...a Rito!?
"Link, there's someone that came out of that thing!" Tulin cries out. He swore the Rito was somehow familiar, but he was struggling to remember it.
But it wasn't just any Rito. It was one with familiar black feathers, a yellow beak, those beige pants like feathers. And a blue scarf, the mark of a champion chosen by Zelda. Was that...Revali?
"...Nnngh...wh...what?" He mumbles as he begins to stir.

There is something Link does, whenever he passes near Lurelin. His legs seem to move on his own, and a sudden feral surge presses him on. Something old speaks to him: Hurry! Do not wait! Go!
It happens, again and again, when he is freeing the Divine Beasts, and it happens again after the islands of the Zonai rise into the sky, and the sages of the modern era must be united. He does not like using the instant travel of either Sheikah towers or Zonai relics; it feels... inappropriate, like walking naked across tombs and empty, sad temples.
He did not have company before, but he does now.
The Sages, as he understands it, might not physically be around him unless he summons their Wills to him as avatars, but they are still there. He can feel their presences around him, and he can feel their minds in contact with his own. They can see what he sees, feel what he does. He speaks to them, sometimes, when he feels the questioning rise; Tulin is loudest of all, and Riju tries to be more genteel and wait, but she is still a child, and less patient than she wants to show. Yunobo has learned the value of waiting and listening, and Link can feel the weight of him pondering the things Link tells him, silently or otherwise. And Sidon makes his presence known only when he seems to think its needed.
Sometimes Link wishes he was less cautious. Sidon is a friend, and one of the last remnants of the times before the Calamity; being around him is a complicated thing, full of loss and grief and lingering memories of everyone that was gone now. But he's still familiar, and a friend, and even if Link and Mipha had never been married, he still feels like Sidon is his brother-in-law.
Link is not the kind of person to go out of his way to seek counsel. He is definitely not the kind of person who needs constant social interaction. Nonetheless, he does need his friends, and he certainly needs it now.
They are with him, their presences clustering around him as he approaches the Mirror.
He doesn't know why his hands shake.
He doesn't know why he feels wetness on his face.
And Link does not know why the sight of the Mirror of Twilight feels his heart with longing, so sudden and so fierce that he wants to squeeze his arms and let the loss out.
Behind him, he knows, there are countless lifetimes of being the Hero; a thousand lifetimes of battling evil (whether it was Ganondorf in one guise or another, and sometimes it was not), and a thousand lifetimes of losing someone in some way. Somehow, this hurts worse.
He doesn't know why the mirror hurts so much, or why he keeps feeling compelled to come here. He knows that once, he stood before this mirror.
No, he realizes with a dull and unhappy certainty. He had not come there alone.
Two people had come there.
Two people had left, he supposed, but not together, and they never saw each other again.
For a long moment, he wondered. Did that hero (did he, Link thinks suddenly) find a way to open that mirror, just for a moment? Did he find a way through?
He thinks about how, in all the scant records Zelda had found pouring over the stories of their ancestors, the Hero of Twilight's stories simply... stopped. After the princess of Twilight vanished from the world, so did he.
He stares at the broken mirror. He thinks about broken hearts, too, and that responsibility can be a chain.
He wonders if, perhaps, the hero of Twilight had crossed that border, never to return. And he thinks about how the Zonai look so much like what the people of Twilight were said to look like; than another hero, born far later, had carried both the hero's blood and the Zonai, and the red-orange hair that the twilight princess had, at least in the stories he found.
Maybe the hero had found a way to cross the border this mirror marked, somehow.
Link stares at the broken mirror, and he thought about broken engagements, and promises never to be fulfilled.
It was nice to imagine some other hero finding his princess, and remaining with her once his role was fulfilled.
He tries not to think about it much.
The presence of the sages, of Tulin and Riju and Yunobo and Sidon, stand there with him.
Link remains surrounded by loss, and here in this reminder of an ancient loss, he thinks about the time of twilight, and that shadows can feel so much like a caress, and he thinks of how it felt when he realized Mipha had planned to propose to him before she died.
He thinks about the feeling of a vast rift tearing open inside him, raw and weeping and awful.
He thinks for a while about cycles, and repeating elements, and he just feels very, very tired.

What type of bird I think Teba is (an analysis)
Before we start, I would like to mention the art book “Creating a Champion”. On Teba’s page, at the bottom, it mentions how he was based on a hawk. However, they aren’t very specific as to what type of hawk— because there is so many types. So this lead me to wondering what type he was based on. I did a bit of research on the species and I found one that I am certainly convinced he might be.
There is a type of hawk called the “Black and White eagle-hawk”. Unfortunately, not much is known about this species and it’s behavior because it is so rare, so I didn’t get a ton of information. But I did take a good look at it’s pattern, color, and a few other things and I am almost certain this is what they based Teba off of.
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is so much similarity to him and this type.
For starters, It’s yellow and black hooked beak, it’s black back and wings but mostly white color, it’s grey-ish black striped tail feathers, and even it’s eyes. Now I know Teba doesn’t have black eye patches EXACTLY like that, but he does have the grey-ish marks around his eyes. It all makes so much sense.
Oh and here’s Teba’s page from the art book for scale.
Tumblr media
Now as far as behavior goes, like I said, little is known about this species of hawk, so I couldn’t find anything.
There are a few things about this bird that are very different from Teba, but I think that is to be expected, as the Rito aren’t supposed to be LITERAL birds. And this is fiction, after all. The big thing that’s different about this species, is that they are mostly found in forests and humid or hot environments, unlike Teba— or the Rito in general.
But as far as everything else goes, this bird is very similar to Teba. I do truly wish that there was more information on their behavior, but there isn’t sadly. There is one last thing I want to talk about briefly before I end this.
When this species of hawk is in it’s juvenile age, the parts where it is typically black, can appear more brown-ish grey. Of course, it darkens over time though. This would explain why Tulin, Teba’s son, appears more brown-ish grey on his wings and back, instead of black, like his father.
And here is Tulin in the art book for scale:
Tumblr media
Notice how the color on top of his wings is a little lighter than Teba’s? That’s because of his juvenile state. I was always curious about that anyway, why he was a lighter color than Teba, I mean. This clears that up. Not sure if anyone even cares about that but I think it’s a neat detail anyway.
So, there is my analysis on Teba and what species of hawk I think he is. This is all so fascinating to me and it’s so fun learning more about his character— and simply the Rito in general. I’ve always loved birds and had an odd amusement to them, hence, my love for the Rito.
I’m not sure if this will even be seen by many or not, but even if it isn’t, it was a fun post to make and I had fun doing the little bit of research that I did.
Hope you guys enjoyed this :3

Tears of the Kingdom: The Final Analysis
Part 7
Part 6 here
Tumblr media
In the next shot, we have Link and Teba's son, Tulin, jumping on some kind of trampoline to get height.
Fortunately for us, we've seen that trampoline before, so we know exactly what this is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link and Tulin are disembarking from their ship ride into a set of new ruins.
Tumblr media
Link waits for the ship alone, though, so Tulin either had to tag along after ("Wait for me, I can help!") or he gets on the ship first and helps steer it down.
Tumblr media
The architecture here looks almost too smooth to be Zonai. Red paint and triangular markings also hint towards something else, even though the ship itself has a Zonai figurehead.
Tumblr media
Then these ruins down here are darker than the rest, with some kind of orange glow.
Tumblr media
On the jump up, we can see much more of them; they seem to be their own separate platform set to the dropoff point.
Tumblr media
This, however, looks to be the same material as the spot they're closest to. At the very least, the dropoff isn't isolated.
Tumblr media
Then this has the same shape, but darker material. Are the ruins being corrupted?
Tumblr media
A ship departs in the background, dark with red sails, just like we saw on the ship boarding scene.
Tumblr media
And down here, we see the glowing spiral of a generator shrine.
Tumblr media
Moving higher, we can see the full structures. The two identical ones are pillars, there's a flat platform towards the back, and a tall structure that almost looks like it's been built on, like a lookout post.
Tumblr media
Next, Link draws a carriage of passengers.
Tumblr media
The pieces are stuck together with Ultrahand. However, they're also very specific shapes rather than something improvized; this carriage likely broke down at the side of the road, and Link can stop and offer to help.
Tumblr media
A Rock Octorok shoots a fireball at Link
Tumblr media
Which he then catches with Recall midair
Tumblr media
And sends hurtling back.
While it's being sent back, the Octorok moves, meaning that even if you stop something, time doesn't slow down to allow you to do so. If you manage to catch an arrow, you'll still be in the line of fire as you're figuring out how to shoot it back.
Tumblr media
There's also a mineshaft entrance back here.
Tumblr media
When Recall completes and color comes back, it turns bright blue inside. Two things come to mind, right off the bat.
Tumblr media
First, Twilight Princess's Goron Mines. We know from the terrain that this is Eldin, and the mines here had magnetic ore inside that could be clung to with iron boots.
Tumblr media
Then the Timeshift Stones from Skyward Sword, which turn blue when struck and extend a time field around them.
However, there are arguments against both these reads, too; for magnet ore, we'd have to ask what purpose it has. In Twilight Princess, it served as a game mechanic to allow unique traversal. In Tears of the Kingdom, we don't have any iron boots-style item we can use. On top of that, we have the Ascend power.
Tumblr media
Which would make any kind of stick-to-walls-to-get-new-places redundant, if not completely useless.
On the side of Timeshift stones, while they are blue when active, they're usually a deep purple.
Tumblr media
So if the mines were Timeshift, they would need to be active, and we would be able to see some kind of terrain shift around them.
However, I did find one more thing that matches the blue glow.
Tumblr media
In Skyward Sword, there's a minigame called "Thrill Digger," in which Link plays a game of bomb flower minesweeper. On the walls of this minigame, though, you can find rupee ore, which you can shoot for extra rupees.
Tumblr media
The blue in here could easily be a vein of blue rupee ore.
Tumblr media
The colors look about right for it, the final cut rupee just has a more polished, vibrant look to it.
Tumblr media
Up next, Link has a rocket in the Faron region.
Tumblr media
It appears to be Fused to some kind of shield, and it carries the Zonai colors. The strange ring around the shield makes me think it's the Zonai equivalent of a Sheikah Guardian Shield.
Tumblr media
He flies up with it, and we get a better view of what the rocket is attached to
Tumblr media
The shield itself is round, very much Zonai colored, and about the size of a pot lid. The field it gives off fluctuates like it's expending energy, so it may have a limited charge.
Out of image space again, see you in part 8!
Edit: Part 9!

Day 35: Thyphlo Ruins, and Lookout Landing
The owl that the Thyphlo Ruins researcher wants isn't far away, and using Tulin's power opens up a storage container with three sapphires in it.
Tumblr media
The two dragons he mentioned are further away, but using Yunobo's power opens a container with three rubies inside.
Kazul says I should come back when he makes another discovery. I wonder if I came back with more Sages' power…
I don't know where to go next, really. I consult my map. Is it time to visit Kakariko Village? I'd like to see how they're doing there - and in Hateno, come to that. If I reported to Purah and took the route from Lookout Landing, I could go through Dueling Peaks - always an awe-inspiring landscape.
There's a cross on my map from when I met that lady in mushroom clothes - it's supposed to mark some of Misko's treasure. It's loosely south of Lookout Landing - I could head there before heading to the pass.
I feel better with a plan of some kind, even if it doesn't obviously lead me to the Princess. But chasing ghosts and slaying monsters hasn't got me any further to finding her.
I remember that chill moment of resolve from the last vision I had of her, when she held the Master Sword. I hope she isn't being - hasn't been - too reckless without her Swordsman to protect her.
At Lookout Landing, I find Offrack the Goron kid peering through a window. I realise I've never been inside Purah's… workshop?
Tumblr media
Whatever it is, it's a mess. But, if it works for her.
I treat myself to a set of Hylian clothes from the shop - with all the gems I found in Eldin, I can afford it. Finally, trousers!
I give Hestu some korok seeds, and then as I'm crossing the centre of Lookout Landing I remember that tunnel beyond the horned god statue. Yunobo's power might prove quite useful in breaking all of that rock…
It is. I find some soldier's greaves in a half-buried barracks. Two trousers in one day!
Tumblr media
Does this tunnel really go all the way to the castle? It goes on forever.

Rise of the Titans - Introduction Sequence & Tutorial Outline (rewritten)
Nintendo Presents
The Legend of Zelda: Rise of the Titans
[Prologue]
Link starts off in the hall of Zelda's new observatory, located on the Great Plateau. You simply walk through the halls to get to the main room, while looking at the artifacts on display.
Link notices the buzz coming in from his Robbie Radio, press the [D-pad down arrow] to tune into the channel - broadcast to Zelda.
In the main room, Zelda (being the hyper-fixated, autistic princess she is) begins to tell Link of her latest findings watching the stars and studying ancient text.
Zelda looks through the telescope once more, but realizes there are meteors headed for the kingdom.
These meteors do not cause catalytic amounts of damage across the continent, but their arrival has definitely not gone unnoticed.
One meteor crashes into Zelda's Observatory, knocking both Link and Zelda from the shock.
They wake up, with the first face Link sees being one that is unfamiliar…yet, strangely familiar?
This mysterious figure introduces herself as Midna (Prime Celestial of the Twili/Sage of Stars & Shadows) - she is mildly injured from her journey, and apologizes to the two Hylians for her unexpected arrival.
Zelda looks at her skin markings, her garments, her technology, and realizes she has read about her people in ancient textbooks - The Twili - saying no Twili has been seen in thousands of years.
On Link's wrist, a piece of Twili technology, known as a Chain has been placed.
Midna informs him that it is a gift of peace between thrm, and a tool to aid them against the Titans that are coming for their planet.
The three, still scraped up from the impact, help each other out of the damaged Observatory out to the Plateau.
And while the distant Greater Hyrule appeared more or less fine, the Great Plateau was definitely affected.
Chunks of land defying gravity. Spiars of ice and rock that reached great heights. And above all else. The remains of a colossal entity.
[TITLE CARD SEQ.]

Zelda has many questions for what is going on, but for now, Midna seems to have exhausted herself too much to go too much into detail. Simply stating that her people had to seek refuge and help from the corrupt Titans roaming space.
Zelda knows that whatever it is, it is not good. She radios the Sages and Purah to come to the Plateau, hoping to gain some assistance.
The Great Plateaus landscape is completely warped and distorted, which made navigating it difficult.
Midna informs Link how the chain's abilities were not all accessible, and scavenging the Plateau would actually benefit them, by completing the trials in the Dungeons.

More Rito Headcanons!
Something of an expansion of my "Rito Biology 101" post, but I'm not going to bother with the in-universe POV and talking about a couple different things here so...
Here's the original. Now that TotK is out, we got some new info so I'm going to go over things. (Namely a new Tribe for Penn and some thoughts on the aged up kiddos.) There my be some minor spoilers in the images, so I'm going to put them below the read more line.
Minor edit: 7/30/23, realized that one of the new NPC's mentioned something I forgot to talk about!
Tumblr media
New Rito Guy! Penn is a reporter who you team up with for a few sidequests. Clearly he's some kind of pelican, so a quick search on Wikipedia and... Pelca Tribe (from Pelecanus the genus that contains all living pelicans)
So a couple things here. One: the triangles on his little sash reminds me of Kass' scarf. (What did you do to Kass Nintendo?!) Two: his outfit appears to be made of some kind of blue leather. I'm assuming that all Rito wear leather armor basically (except Saki and the little ones). Interestingly, I had drawn an axe that had talon grip handles in the axe head that are sometimes made out of leather sourced from blue monster hides. Doubt that's the case here since he's not a warrior but still...
Tumblr media
His catchphrase... You can see they did the little hook on his beak! Is that yellow on his chest part of his clothes? Hm...
Tumblr media
Including this because, A: this is quite possibly my favorite quote from him and B: you can see he has webbed feets! (Still say they should have given the Rito four toes but whatever...)
Tumblr media
Look at his tiny pen and notebook! (The dangles on his hood are shaped like pens!)
Okay, that's enough Penn for now... In other news, new color morphs just dropped ya'll!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the first guy looks like he might be a shade or two lighter than Huck, but the second guy is a new color altogether. We gots purple Orni Tribe Ritos now! Really don't have much to say about these two, but more variety is nice.
EDIT: Actually I do have something to say about Ornest. He mentions that all Rito have the ability to manipulate the wind, something I was theorizing to be the case. So, headcanon confirmed!
Moving on to the kiddos!
Tumblr media
Kotts! Again her headband makes me think of her father's scarf and I miss him so much!
Tumblr media
Here's BotW Kotts for comparison. As you can see, the white on her face is starting to fade, and she's lost her "bangs", and her head is starting to be more bird shaped. Rough estimation is that TotK is around 5 years after BotW and I'm assuming that she's 5 during BotW so that would make her 10 in TotK. (I'm going with Rito living around 80 years on average BTW).
Tumblr media
She's almost as tall as Link! Also that dialog speaks to me on like, a molecular level. (She gets up at 10AM BTW) Also note her Saki-like clothing.
Tumblr media
BotW Molli
Tumblr media
TotK Molli
I, uh, don't think she grew at all...
She wants to make cool arrows so her dad will use them with his bows... (Why's there no emoji/emoticon button?! I need a big eyed sad face here!)
Tumblr media
Speaking of her dad... Here enjoy this totally unrelated to anything I'm talking about shot of Harth actually standing! He gets to do stuff in this game guys! (Can you believe I almost forgot he existed when I went from BotW to Age of Calamity? How could I forget this unique bird?!)
Last but not least, Bird Son himself...
Tumblr media
Tulin!!!! Look at this adorable little guy! LOOK AT HIM!!!!
I like to think he admires the hell out of Link and so he's mimicking Link's pose as much as he can. Speaking of which... Get that guy a cowboy outfit and a giant belt buckle!
Tumblr media
Look at him some more!
Tumblr media
So I don't know if that's eyeliner or just natural markings but he's doing his mom's thing and I can't even you guys!
I am SO normal about these birds...
*regains composure*
Okay, so what have we learned from this? Rito start off with blue sclera (the whites of the eye) when they're little. Around 10 or so the sclera becomes white and the irises are blue. Given that neither Kass nor Amali have blue eyes, I'm going to assume at some point their daughters will develop yellow eyes like them. Tulin... Let's just say his eyes stay blue.
Fluffy white baby feathers on the face slowly fade over the years until they their faces are solid colors (Orni Tribe at least). Tulin's little bun, is this like his mom's "hair" or more like his dad's floof? His he tying it back? You can make out something around the base of it in that second image of him so I think so... What if he ends up with a braid like the Ancient Wind Sage? (Why couldn't you just name them Nintendo? You could have just used the Divine Beasts' names and it would have been fine!)
None of the kids have proper tail feathers yet, so I hesitate to call them juveniles... Give them a few more years and they'll probably start growing them.
I like Penn, and pelican/waterfowl Rito fit in with ideas I was having for my fanfic so... Just gotta find a way to fit him in...
I made it so that different Rito settlements have different symbols. Normally these would be found on the cloth around their waist. However, Penn has this unique symbol on his chestpiece... Granted there's some similar symbols around the village but...

Your rito culture / world building to me is so interesting.. can we learn more!!
Full disclosure: around 3/4 of the Rito worldbuilding in the Moonlight series is @ginneke's, so if you want a more thorough answer, definitely also aim this question at her!
But here are a few basic things that I usually have in the back of my mind when writing the Rito. Bear in mind that all of these are headcanons, with variable basis in canon.
(This post might have spoilers for all of the Moonlight series, in particular this flooded sky and Harmonize your own worth.)
Rito Village is a very communal village: communal kitchen, joint caretaking of children/people who require help/etc.
Rito chicks tend to have pronounced red cheekspots that will become less pronounced with successive molts until they disappear entirely, which is considered a mark of adulthood. Yes, this is why we explicitly describe Revali as a teenager (on top of his... everything :D).
Their food tends towards very spicy, both because of the ready availability of spicy peppers in the area and because real-life birds don't experience the heat from spices. The Rito do experience some of that heat, but less so than a Hylian would. (And they like it.) Blue nightshade can be used as a painkiller by Hylians and Gerudo, and it has little to no effect on Zora. To Rito, however, it is extremely poisonous even in very small doses. Any Rito past childhood would definitely know to avoid it at all costs. (This is a headcanon that originated in Moonlight (every single night) and got elaborated on both in Ginneke's Flowers from your Beloathed and this flooded sky.)
There used to be a lot more Rito! This one sort of originates from canon, where there are very few Rito compared to the other groups around Hyrule (except, perhaps, the Sheikah). And most of those live in Rito Village, with only very few exceptions. But before the Calamity, there were quite a few Rito outposts: the hot springs around Hebra, for starters, and presumably also some settlements further south. There also used to be a strong roamer's tradition: Rito who roamed Hebra and the rest of Hyrule, never staying in one place for long. They had their own customs, such as using a unique marker tied to their bows for identification purposes. Revali's mother was one of them. That tradition unfortunately died with the Calamity, when the country became far too unsafe to roam alone. However, people like Kass and Mimo are causing a bit of a revival. In the present day, there are also Rito living on the other side of the canyon surrounding Hyrule, and Kass may or may not have been one of them :D
Given the aforementioned communality, the Rito are pretty open about queer and polyamorous relationships. They don't usually mention this to visiting Hylians, though, because Hylians Are Weird about these things.
However, despite that openness, misogyny is an unfortunate reality within Rito Village. Female Rito are expected to sing, not shoot, as evidenced with Laissa. Saki, within the Moonlight series, is an accomplished archer despite all this because Teba and Harth took it upon themselves to teach her (a headcanon that originated in Ginneke's Memento). This was barely accepted because she seemingly 'abandoned' archery when Tulin hatched. That misogyny was actually less pronounced in Revali's days! It became moreso after the Calamity cost them a lot of lives. Before the Calamity, plenty of women would learn archery, but they were expected to give it up once they started a household. This is part of what drove Revali's mother from the village. (Revali's mother is all Ginneke's, and she graciously allowed me to reference her in Harmonize your own worth. I look forward to the day she will elaborate on her, so I won't go in too much detail here.)
That's just a little bit of the stuff we try to keep in mind! I hope you enjoyed it!
ETA: And here’s Ginneke’s headcanon post!
