Matt’s hands slide over his watch face for the time. “Do you guys think you can handle things here for the rest of the day?” he asks his friends.
“I think we can handle it,” Foggy hums, taking in the quiet office space around them. “You have a date with that girl, don’t you? Or is it a different one?”
“Nope, it should be the same girl,” Karen says. “It’s still within the time frame.”
Matt furrows his brows as he turns toward his friends. “Time frame?”
“Do we really need to go over this again, Mr. Serial Dater?” Foggy sighs. “How many girls did you see last year alone?”
“I don’t—.”
“Ten,” Karen supplements. “I mean, technically, it was nine because you dated the same girl twice, but they all fizzled out just as soon as they started. None of them lasted over two months.”
“And that’s not counting hookups we don’t know about. If my math is right, we’re almost at the two month mark in—.” Foggy turns to look at the calendar hanging on the wall to confirm. “—about a half of a week.”
“Thank you for the countdown, Father Time, but I don’t see that happening with her. She’s different.”
“Do we at least get her name? Since she’s so different than the others, that is,” Karen tries hopefully, and Matt can tell she’s eagerly biting her lip.
“(Y/N),” he concedes. “Her name is (Y/N). (Y/N/N).”
“Ooh, full name and a nickname. Are you treating (Y/N) to a fancy night out?” Foggy asks.
“Nope,” Matt grins, sliding on his jacket.
“Oh?” Karen hums. “Finally going to bring her to Josie’s?”
“So you guys can just happen to stroll in? No,” Matt continues to smile. “Not that it’s any of your business, but that’s where we met.”
“So, no fancy restaurant, no Josie’s . . .”
“I’m cooking for her at my place tonight. Happy now?”
Foggy and Karen ooh at him like a bunch of fifth graders.
“Well, here’s hoping she’s a heavy sleeper in case you hear a bank robbery across town and need to suit up.”
“Well, she knows.”
He can tell the way that they look at him, absolutely stunned. “Knows?” Karen repeats.
Matt puts his fingers up by his head to mimic his devil horns.
“EXCUSE ME?” Foggy shouts.
“It’s a long story, guys, and I have a dinner to prepare.”
“Let us know when the wedding is!” Foggy shouts as Matt leaves the office. “Knows . . . She knows! . . .”

Matt finishes plating the food before lighting the candles on the table, blowing out the match as he freezes in his tracks. His senses are good—he can always tell when you’re near, even though you haven’t been seeing one another long. But this time, even though you’re about a block away, it feels like you’re so much closer. Your scent is much stronger than usual. It’s not perfume, shampoo, or detergent clinging to your dress—it’s you. Matt can practically taste you on his tongue when he lets out a deep breath through his mouth, and it drives him wild. His thoughts are fuzzy, and all he can think of is how he wants his hands on you, dragging over every dip and curve of your body right until he’s between—.
Matt practically jumps out of his skin when you rap at his door. With one more deep breath and a quick adjustment to his pants, he makes his way to the door, swinging it open and greeting you with a warm smile. As soon as the door is even open a crack, you drown his senses. He feels almost drunk, and he just wants you.
“Hi,” he smiles, leaning in for a kiss. You meet him halfway, pressing your front flush against his, resting a gentle hand on his waist. He pulls you in even further, desperately trying to deepen the kiss. You smile and giggle into the embrace before you lean back and look up at him.
“Hello to you, too,” you smile. “It smells really good in here, and you look like quite the chef with your sleeves all rolled up and a towel over your shoulder.”
“You like the look, hm?” he teases, closing the door close and kissing your neck some more as he walks you into the loft.
“I do. I like it so much, I almost dropped the bottle of wine I brought, especially if you keep kissing that spot.”
He pulls back and kisses the top of your head. “Well, I’m glad you’ve both survived this far.” Matt, on the other hand, is barely holding on. Every second that you’ve been here—the whole 90 of them—he’s had to restrain himself from jumping on you the way he so desperately wants.
“How about we sit first?” Matt hums, giving your arm a squeeze.
“You’ve plated everything. I’d hate for the food to get cold. This looks lovely.” You lean over, kissing his cheek. As your lips leave his skin, he turns into you, kissing you deeply before dragging his embraces down your neck and up to the sweet spot behind your ear, humming in delight as he takes you in and kisses your skin. You let out a soft moan, your knees buckling slightly as you lean into him and hold onto his body.
“‘m pretty sure that this is supposed to happen after dinner,” you swallow, your fingers desperately holding onto his arms.
“Dinner can wait. You smell too good,” he murmurs into your skin, taking the wine from your hand and putting it on the island.
“I—!”
You suck in a breath in surprise when his hands travel low and squeeze at your hips.
“You smell good,” he repeats, his voice dipping low. “Better than dinner—better than it tastes.”
Your hands have a mind of their own, moving up his arms, letting your fingers rake through his hair.
“Matt . . .” you breathe. He can sense how your heart races as you hold him close.
“I can stop if you want to,” he hums, dragging his kisses down along your collarbone. “But I really don’t want to angel.”
You let out a sigh that goes straight to his cock. “I-I don’t have anything,” you tremble, and Matt notices a slight edge of something else in your voice. You sound a little nervous, but it’s not like the two of you haven’t had sex before. There’s been a few times where you’ve done just this—throw your date plans out the window to just spend the night exploring one another’s bodies over and over until you’re both so worn you turn into a tangled mess of limbs in bedsheets. And then it clicks for him. Your smell being extra strong, your elevated temperature, your racing heart, and now the slight nervous tremble in your voice. You’ve been together for two months, and he’s been with you around the time of your period, and even during your period, but as he wracks his brain to work on timelines, he’s positive there’s only one solution.
You’re ovulating.
And you know it.
Matt pulls back slowly, his hands still on your hips as you face him. He desperately works to find your eyes, even though he knows he’ll never be able to, not in the way he wants.
“And you’re . . . you’re not on . . .?” He doesn’t want to finish the sentence—it makes him feel slimy asking that, but he wants to hear you say it rather than conclude based on assumption, even if that assumption is rooted in everything your body is telling him.
“I-I’m not,” you confirm. “The side effects and stories I’ve heard from friends . . .” You shrug. “It didn’t seem worth it. As contraception or a way to help with periods.” He senses another shift in you, but this one is different. You’re embarrassed, ashamed even.
“Hey,” Matt says softly, kissing you tenderly. “It’s your body. You need to do what’s best for it.”
You nuzzle into his touch, and he lets out a little hum. “I just hate to have killed the mood. Especially since I smell so irresistible, apparently. And those kisses were pretty damn nice.”
Matt can hear how you smile while you speak when an idea comes to his mind.
“What’s that face?” you smirk, holding onto him adoringly.
“We can still keep the mood going. I mean, I have condoms, but, if you don’t want to use them, I have another idea. All you have to do is sit down and look pretty for me.”
You eagerly bite your lip, making Matt chuckle. He leans forward, pressing a kiss to your lips before leading you to his bedroom.
“Sit down for me, angel,” he hums. “And spread your legs nice and wide for me.”
With a smile, you do as he asks as he softly kisses up your thighs, moving back and forth between each leg until he’s the apex, pressing a large open-mouthed kiss to your covered core. You take in a sharp breath as he slowly kisses and licks at you. For just how badly Matt wants you, he’s surprised and impressed with the restraint he’s showing. You whimper and moan as he begins to set his pace, one of your hands moving to his head and tugging on his hair, urging him to get closer. Between your arousal and his mouth, your panties are absolutely soaked within minutes.
“Hey,” you whine as he removes his mouth from you. “I was enjoying that.”
“I know,” he grins, sliding his hands up your legs until his thumbs hook around your panties and slide them down your legs before tossing them up behind you on the bed. “Those are mine, now.”
You chuckle, your laughs turning into a moan when he reattaches his lips to your dripping core. Your sounds are louder, more unrestrained now that his lips are on your dripping ones. The way you squirm against Matt’s face only eggs him on, the rotations of your hips are only helping drive your scent further into his nose, injecting pure you into his body. Wet sounds fill the room, even with his face as buried deep as it is, and he can sense the way you lean back more and more until you’re flat on your back on the mattress, still managing to pull at his hair while he eats you out. You’re done for as soon as he slips two fingers in you. You tremble with an intense orgasm as you cry out so hard, Matt can tell it hurts your lungs a little. You squeeze his head with your thighs, and Matt uses his free hand to grip onto your hip and hold you closer, bringing him on the verge of suffocation by pussy—which wouldn’t be the worst way to go, if he’s being honest.
Matt continues to lick and slurp up your juices, pushing you into overstimulation territory, your mews still music to his ears but with a tinge of discomfort, but not before you cum again and coat his face with your delicious release. Moving his lips off of your clit, he gently licks up your mess, pressing kisses all over your pelvis before lifting his head up above the skirt of your dress.
“Better than anything I could’ve cooked,” he grins as he proudly wears your slick on his face. “So good, I want to go back for seconds.”
“You gotta give me a second, tiger,” you breathily laugh, caressing the side of his face, and he desperately turns his head to kiss your palm. “Maybe while I recoop, you can get some condoms? Or at least put the dinner in the fridge so we don’t get poisoned when we get around to actually eating it.”
Matt smiles and pounces on you, caging your body beneath his before holding your face in his hands as he kisses you. You giggle and chase his lips happily, and Matt slips his tongue into your mouth to let you taste yourself even better. You squeal in delight as he presses you into the mattress, and he feels like a giddy teenager in love.
Shit. He loves you.
He was pretty sure he did—from the moment he met you, he didn’t want to even think about dating anyone else. And call it the pheromones he’s undoubtedly drunk on right now, but he doesn’t see himself being with anyone but you for the rest of his life.
“What’s on your mind, pretty boy?” you whisper, running your fingers through his hair, and he can tell you’re looking at him as if he’s all the stars in the sky.
Yeah, he loves you.
“You,” he hums. “I got lucky, getting you in my life.”
“I was just thinking the same thing.” This time, it’s your turn to pull him down for a sweet kiss, and Matt feels as if his heart might explode.
“I’ll be right back,” he murmurs against your lips. “Stay just like this.”
“Kay,” you hum.
Matt presses one more kiss to your lips before he scurries out of his room, blowing out the candles, putting the plates in the fridge, and grabbing a box of condoms from his bathroom. When he comes back into his room, he finds you in the same spot he let you, pure relaxation covering you from your head to your toes.
“You’ve got the stuff,” you smirk, and Matt can’t help but do the same.
“I do,” he hums as he walks back to you, sitting on the mattress, leaning you up to snuggle into his side. “Are you sure you want to do this tonight? Because trust me, as much as I want to do this with you right now, I can wait until a better time. I don’t mind sticking my head back down between your legs and spending the rest of the night there. I’ll be just as happy there.”
Your eyes flutter shut, leaning into his body and kissing him. “I’m sure. And trust me, if that’s what you eat pussy like when I’m ovulating, I can’t wait to feel how you fuck me. No way I’m waiting to experience that.”
The last part seems to slip out past your lips before you can realize it, and you both know what it implies. A small smile pulls at the corners of Matt’s lips, and he leans forward to kiss you again before you have a chance to feel embarrassed, resting his forehead on yours. That’s not a conversation for tonight, but he’s touched that you’ve even considered it. “Alright, if you’re sure,” he whispers. “But you need to open the package.”
“I will, but first . . .” You straddle his lap and push him down on the mattress. “I think I need to take care of that painful looking bulge in your pants.”
Matt licks his lips in anticipation, listening to how you work yourself over him. You lean over, kissing and sucking a little mark into his neck before you unknot his tie and unbutton his shirt.
“Do you trust me, Matt?” you ask.
“Completely,” he smiles.
Taking his tie, you gently move his hands up above his head and begin to knot his fabric around his wrists.
“Is it too tight?” you ask, brushing hair out of his face as if you’re clearing his line of sight.
“‘s perfect,” he assures. “So are you.”
He can sense how you blush before you lean down and kiss him, softly dragging embraces down his exposed skin until you get to his pants, undoing his belt and sliding it off, and taking care of his pants, sliding it off his hips, leaving him exposed. He’s painfully hard—he’s surprised he didn’t cum in his pants while he was up to his eyeballs in (Y/N). He sucks in a breath between his teeth when your hand wraps around him, giving him some gentle pumps before you lean down and start to use your mouth. You press feather-light kisses on the underside of his shaft, licking his frenulum and gently caressing his balls. You get the tip of him in your mouth, so warm and wet, he swallows hard.
“Wait,” he begs. “‘m not gonna last if you keep going like that.”
You smirk as you bring your mouth down toward his base before you let your hot breath spread over him.
“We both know that this isn’t the first time you’ll be cumming tonight, Matty,” you hum.
You lick along the vein in his shaft until you’re back at the tip, opening your mouth and going down on him. Matt cries out at the top of his lungs, his hips bucking up as he lets out his release. He breaks out of the satin restraint, his hands moving to the sides of your face, not to force you down, but just to have his hands on you. When you finish sucking him dry, you pull off, licking your lips before you swallow.
“I’m offended. You broke out of my knot,” you chuckle.
“Sorry,” he says with a blissed, dopey smirk.
“No, don’t apologize. It was hot. Like, really hot. Like, we’re going to have to do something like that in the future hot.”
“Are we now?”
“Mmm. Now, where’d you put that box of condoms?”
Leaning over, you grab the box and pull out the foil package, tearing it open while he gets up and takes off the rest of his clothes before you carefully slide on the latex.
“Sweetheart, I think you’re a little overdressed,” he hums as his hands slide up under your dress.
“What’re you gonna do about it?” you grin.
His hands grip the zipper, pulling it down the track before sliding it off of your body, his hands then deftly moving to remove your bra.
“There we go,” he smiles before leaning in and taking one of your breasts into his mouth, letting himself get lost in the soft, supple flesh. You both roll around in the bed until you’re under him, Matt sliding into you.
“Aah!” you cry out, your fingers grabbing a bruising grip onto his shoulders. It gets stronger the further that he pushes into you. Even with two orgasms and plenty of your arousal dripping from between your legs, you’re still so tight.
“That’s it,” he hums. “That’s it, you’re taking me so well, sweetheart.”
“Fuck!” you cry out, throwing your head back as you scratch angry red lines down his back.
“A little more, angel, you can do it. You can do it . . . Good girl, just like that.”
You both let out a grunt when he bottoms out in you, taking a moment to adjust.
“Just say the word for me, and I’ll start moving.”
“I-I need you,” you say almost immediately. “Matt, please, start moving. D-Don’t hold back.”
He takes your face in his hands, kissing you deeply before he starts thrusting. He does as you ask, not starting slow like he has in your past sexual encounters. Your moans and cries are music to his ears, spurring him on to go even faster, making you cry out louder.
“Matt!” you cry with a guttural moan. “Yes! You’re so deep!”
“Made f’me,” Matt growls as he throws your legs up over his shoulders and folding you in half. “Mine.”
“Yours! I’m yours!”
Matt slithers a hand up your body, mapping out your soft skin with his touch until his hand is around your neck, holding your jaw, fingers spread before giving it a light squeeze. He listens to how your body reacts immediately, your warm, wet, tight cunt squeezing his cock as a response as you moan and bite your lip.
Matt’s going to have fun with that fact.
“Are you ready to cum, sweetheart?” he coos as he slams into you so hard, he’s pretty sure that your cunt might be permanently stretched and remolded to match the shape of his cock. “Can you cum around my cock for me?”
“Yes,” you whimper, one of your hands dropping to his forearm, giving it a squeeze. “Don’t stop, please don’t stop! Make me cum—make me cum hard! Just don’t stop!”
Matt lowers himself to kiss you deeply, your bodies a tangled, squished mess as he keeps pounding into you. You hold onto his face desperately, deepening the connection and the kiss until you open your mouth to let out an unbridled cry of pleasure. It hurts his ears, but what a sound to go deaf to. His hand slides from your neck, moving to higher up on your waist as he kisses you through your high, his sweaty forehead eventually falling to the crook of your neck as he experiences his own release.
The two of you are a panting, sweaty mess, tangled together and coming back to your senses while he softens inside of you. A few minutes pass, and he finally musters the energy to pull out of you, tying off the condom and throwing it in the trash by his bed.
“If you’re gonna fuck me like that every time I ovulate,” you pant, kissing his cheek before resting your forehead on his temple. “I’m in for a real treat.”
Matt chuckles, enjoying the taste of your skin and how it mixes with your sweat. In that moment, everything is calm, quiet . . . everything makes sense.
“Oh, sweetheart,” he hums, his hands roaming your body. “We’re not done yet.”

“I’m nervous.” You sat next to Matt in the restaurant he had chosen for the evening. It was fancy. There was a pianist in one corner of the room and linen tablecloths. It was nicer than the hole-in-the-wall joints that you and Matt usually preferred. He wanted to impress your parents though, so he had made a reservation at a swanky restaurant in midtown Manhattan.
Matt was in his court suit and you had donned the blue silk dress he bought for your anniversary. It was by far your favorite dress. Beyond being a treasured gift, it fit you perfectly and the fabric always felt soft against your skin. Karen had helped Matt pick it out, but she had told you that all she did was describe the dresses and that he had completely ignored her opinions. She had strongly recommended a yellow dress but he had refused her suggestions, insisting you would like the one he picked better. Never having seen the yellow one, you knew he was right. If he picked it, you loved it. You would have him choose between options you put out when you got dressed in the mornings by describing them to him and he always had you match his tie to the rest of his outfit.
“It’s going to be fine,” Matt said and kissed your temple.
“I only ever introduced Caleb to my parents,” you told him, not that you hadn’t said it before. Matt knew that Caleb was not someone you had pleasant memories of. He had heard the stories from you and he was the one who helped you get over many of the fears that Caleb had struck into you. Matt was remembering those stories while he heard in your heartbeat how nervous you were.
“You know I’m not like Caleb,” Matt reminded you.
“I know, Matt. I just…this is a big deal for me,” you said.
“It’s a big deal for me too, sweetheart,” Matt told you. “It’s just an exciting big deal for me.” You inhaled deeply. Matt smiled. “You have nothing to worry about. Moms always like me, angel. It’ll be great,” he assured you.
“All women like you,” you said. Matt laughed lightly.
“Then that will include your mom, won’t it?” He asked rhetorically. He gave you a light peck as he tangled his fingers with yours beneath the table. “Don’t worry, sweetheart,” he cooed. You sighed.
“You’re right. I know they’re going to love you. I just…” You hesitated.
“Caleb was a mistake and you think it’s bad luck,” Matt said, always knowing what you were thinking.
“Yeah,” you agreed.
“This isn’t a mistake, sweetheart. I promise. It’s just the next step,” he told you. You nodded and Matt gave your hand a squeeze. You looked up at the doorway to the restaurant.
“They’re here,” you said. You rose from the table and greeted your mom and dad with hugs. Matt was standing by your side with a charming smile across his face.
“Hello, Mrs. y/l/n,” Matt greeted with a smile. Your mom held her arms out to Matt and pulled him into a hug. He returned it kindly.
“Oh, please, call me y/m/n,” your mom said. “Y/N has told us so much about you. I think we can be on a first name basis,” your mom said. You felt heat rise to your cheeks as your mom told Matt how you spoke about him. Matt simply turned to you and smiled. He loved that you told your parents about him. He wished he could tell his dad all about you. Your father held out his hand for Matt to shake. Matt stayed still, not wanting to give up his powers. You took Matt’s hand and pulled it to where your father’s hand was waiting.
“Oh, sorry about that,” your dad said in embarrassment as he shook Matt’s hand. Matt chuckled lightly.
“That’s alright, sir. Took y/n months to stop answering me with nods,” Matt joked.
“It was not months,” you said sharply.
“You still do it sometimes,” Matt teased. You pursed your lips, biting back the comment about how you knew he could tell. The four of you sat down, Matt pulling out your mother’s chair for her before doing the same for you and taking his seat.
Matt was right about mothers loving him. He charmed your mom with his dry sense of humor and enchanting smile. He won your dad’s approval when he mentioned he owned his own law firm. Your father didn’t need to know that Nelson and Murdock was nearly always on the edge of bankruptcy. Your parents told Matt stories about you from your childhood, despite your protests that they were too embarrassing. Matt loved the stories. All he could do was smile at you. The night was perfect. Matt was perfect. Your father refused Matt’s attempt to pay for the meal before the four of you left. You said your goodbyes in front of the restaurant before getting into different cabs and going back home. Matt’s hand was resting innocently on your leg while the two of you sat in the back of the cab.
“I told you it was going to be fine,” Matt teased you. You rolled your eyes.
“Yes, you were right, Murdock,” you agreed. Matt chuckled.
“Doesn’t happen that often. I have to brag when it does,” he said. The cab pulled up outside of your apartment and the two of you got out. You made your way up the stairs and walked through the sliding door. The glow of the billboard outside of your window was blue. A new advertiser had taken over a few weeks earlier and the red light that usually filled the room had been replaced with a blue light, making it seem like your apartment was bathed in moonlight. You were looking through the mail that you had collected on your way up.
You realized you didn’t know where Matt went when music started playing. You smiled to yourself as you tossed away the junk mail. Suddenly you felt hands on your hips as Matt pulled you away from the counter. He spun you around and moved one of his hands to the small of your back. The other went to cup your hand in his. You giggled before moving to wrap your free arm around his shoulders, fingers tangling in the hairs at the nape of his neck as the two of you began swaying back and forth. Matt loosened his hold on your waist and moved to let you spin beneath his arm before pulling you back into his body and dipping you.
When Matt pulled you back upright you leaned up on your toes to press a kiss to his lips. Matt smiled against your lips. You stared into his eyes when you leaned away. His eyes were so beautiful. You never cared that his eyes didn’t see you the way yours saw him. He saw you in so many other ways.
“You really impressed them,” you said as you leaned closer to Matt, tucking your head against his neck.
“I told you moms like me,” Matt said.
“My dad liked you too though,” you said.
“Yeah,” Matt agreed. “We just can’t let him visit my office. He won’t be impressed anymore.” You chuckled.
“I certainly hope he won’t ever need a lawyer,” you said.
“If you hadn’t needed a lawyer we never would have met,” Matt reminded you.
“Yes, and that worked out very well,” you agreed. “But when we tell our kids how we met I think we should make something up.” Matt beamed.
“Our kids?” He asked. Your heart dropped for a moment and your face went blank.
“I mean, umm…” You started stuttering.
“We’ll have to get married first,” Matt interjected before you could start backpedaling. Your panic turned to excitement. You grinned.
“You obviously have my parents' approval now,” you said. Matt smiled.
“And you’ve certainly gotten Foggy’s approval,” Matt replied.
“Foggy likes me better than you,” you said with a laugh.
“Yes, I know,” Matt said flatly. “He’s very clear about that.” You held back your giggles.
“If you came into the office with cookies instead of bruises like me he might like you more,” you joked.
“I do bring in cookies,” he grumbled.
“Yes, but Foggy knows I made them,” you said. Matt sighed.
“He wouldn’t like me at all if I brought in cookies that I made,” he said. You giggled at the memory of Matt trying to make your birthday cake and causing the building to evacuate after setting off the smoke alarm.
“When we have kids I bet he’ll like them better than both of us,” you said. Matt smiled.
“That’s alright. We can use him as a babysitter that way,” he said.
“Maybe if Karen’s there too,” you said. Matt chuckled.
“You don’t trust Foggy with our kids?” He asked.
“Matty, you have told me far too many stories about you dragging Foggy back to your dorm after a frat party for me to trust Foggy with our kids,” you said. “He will most certainly let one of them do something stupid.”
“And you think I won’t?” Matt asked.
“You won’t let them do something stupid, you’ll do it for them,” you said. Matt spun you around in his arms once more as the song came to an end. He kissed your forehead when he pulled you back against him.  Matt’s heart was full at the way the two of you were so casually talking about your kids. He hoped it wouldn’t be long till they were real. He knew what he wanted. He didn’t want to wait for it anymore. There wasn’t anything stopping him now.
“You want to go ring shopping tomorrow?”

~ Matt brings home a kid ~
Being with Matt you've learned always to expect the unexpected. Matt has a heart of gold, always doing everything he can to help those in need. It's a good thing you're the same way. You wouldn't be a doctor if you didn't have the urge to help people but sometimes Matt, in your opinion, helps people that don't help him far too often.
However, one thing you didn't expect was for your wonderful boyfriend to come home with a kid. Okay maybe not kid, he's about sixteen years old, but that's still way younger than you or Matt. And way too young to be doing what he does.
When Matt brings home the kid, the first thing you do is freeze for a second. Who is this kid? How did he get hurt? How does Matt know him? Why is he in your apartment bleeding?
You're quickly pushed out of your thoughts when Matt helps the kid onto the couch and looks to you for help. You immediately jump in, using your doctor skills to the best of your ability. Both he and your boyfriend stay silent the whole time. Matt stays sitting in an armchair to the side, obviously stressed by whatever happened.
It takes a while to patch up the kid, whose name you still don't know, but as soon as you're finished, he falls asleep on the couch and allows you time to discuss this strange situation with Matt.
Why is it that he stays silent the whole time you're busy helping the kid but the second you're ready to talk he runs off to the kitchen, not exactly running off as the kitchen is right there, but still?
“Matt. Explain?” You don't know what to say or ask. A million questions are running through your head as you follow him to the kitchen.
“His name's Peter.” He hesitates to continue. “He's spiderman, that's how he got hurt.”
“What? He's a child!” How the hell is a teenager Spiderman?
“Yeah, I know that's why I've been keeping an eye on him.” He says as if it's the most casual thing ever. As if he didn't just bring me a beaten-up sixteen-year-old to fix up.
“What do you mean keeping an eye on him? Do you listen to him?” You turn back to the living room and collapse in a chair.
“No, he lives too far away. I just mean that I call him and check up on him.” His voice is quiet, careful not to wake the sleeping kid. “I met him a few weeks ago.”
“When you were in Queens? Is that why you left?” A couple of weeks ago, Matt spent a few days in Queens for a new client he met. He never said much about it and you never asked. You never wanted to invade his clients' privacy and you weren't sure he could tell you about it anyway.
“Yeah actually.” He doesn't say anymore and for some reason, you don't ask. Not sure if you want to know the reasons this kid, Peter you now know, could be in danger. You know Matt can handle himself so most of the time you try not to worry yourself but this is a young kid, that you can almost guarantee doesn't have anywhere near the amount of fighting training Matt had.
After a few hours of making sure he was okay on the couch, and convincing Matt to stay in for the night, you both decide to head to bed.
Tumblr media
You wake up the next morning to loud crashing noises from the kitchen. You automatically know it's not Matt because one he is a terrible cook and two he is still lying in bed with an arm over your waist. So Peter must have woken up from his injury-induced slumber and started cooking because he's hungry?
You reluctantly throw yourself out of bed. Despite getting plenty of sleep you feel anything but well rested. As you head out of the bedroom you see Peter wearing the old clothes Matt put out for him and trying to cook something in the kitchen. From the smell of it, he's probably not the best cook either.
“Good morning.” You greet him, coming into the kitchen and leaning against the counter. He whips around to look at you in surprise, he clearly doesn't have the same super senses as Matt.
“Oh uh, good morning!” He tries his best to sound cheerful but his voice has an underlying tone of shock and awkwardness. “Sorry for waking you up. I know taking of someone you don't know so late at night isn't the best, so I thought I would make you and Matt some breakfast to try and make up for it. I'm Peter by the end.” You stay silent as he falls into an awkward ramble.
“Hi Peter I'm y/n. And you don't have to worry about making it up to us, we were happy to help. Plus I deal with this stuff all the time.”
“Right, you're a doctor! Matt told me about that.” He puts down all the stuff he was “cooking” and leans along the counter with you.
“Oh, he talks about me?”
“Well, it was that or all the people we've fought as masked superheroes.” He shrugs.
“Superhero? Aren't you a little young to be fighting like you do?”
“Maybe but if I can help people why wouldn't I?”
“You could always be selfish and use your powers for yourself.” You tell him out of both curiosity and the fact that if you had any kind of powers you can't guarantee you would use them to help anyone else.
“Yeah, I guess.” And just like you both stop talking. Waiting in silence for Matt to wake up before you order breakfast.
Tumblr media
Peter stayed with you guys for a little over a week while you made sure he was fully healed from his injuries. Before long he was going back home to Queens to whoever he lives with. You know from one brief conversation that his parents are gone, he never said how or who he stays with now but that's not any of your business.
He comes over almost every week now for dinner, one of the only nights a week you and Matt cook instead of ordering takeout. You have the feeling Matt has imprinted on Peter, kind of like a baby duck. Maybe it's because they’re so similar. They can relate to each other in a way Foggy and Karen can’t. Well, Frank can but he and Matt don’t exactly get along.
Today is one of the days that he’s gonna be coming over for dinner. You and Matt are in the kitchen making a new pasta dish.
“So I wanted to ask you a question?” Matt suddenly tells you, while in the middle of stirring the pasta sauce.
“You know you don't have to ask to ask a question right?” It doesn't matter how many times you say it, Matt will always warn you before asking a question. Most likely because he's worried about bothering you.
He lets out a deep chuckle. “I know, sweetheart, but I'm worried you'll say no.”
“I doubt it. What is it?”
“You know how Peter lives with his aunt right?” He pulls the finished sauce off the stove so he can put his full attention on you.
“I knew he lived some family member, yes. Why?” You’re very curious as to where this is going.
“Well, she’s getting older and I thought maybe he could come and stay with us for a while.” Not what you expected him to ask.
“Matt, I would say yes to that if I could see how it would work. We don't have the room.” You shrug. You would love to help Peter out but you don’t think he would like living on the couch for at least a year.
“That’s why I'm asking you. You always know what to do with these things.” If he means the way you freak out thinking of every possible solution and pretend to know what you’re doing then yeah, you are a master at it.
“I don't know, Matty. There is about a year and a half before he goes to college, there is no way he’ll be comfortable here for that long.”
“I know. Believe me, I’ve been thinking of a way this could work. I just don’t want him to be alone.”
“He won’t be. Even if he can’t live here he’s always welcome.” And just by saying that you come up with the perfect idea.
Tumblr media
A few weeks later it worked. Somehow everything magically fell into place. At the end of your previous conversation about it, you told Matt how great it would be if Peter could have his own apartment close to yours and magically one became available in the same building. Being sixteen, Peter obviously couldn't pay for the place himself but you were able to help out, having some extra money due to being a good doctor.
“Thank you, sweetheart.” Matt comes up to you. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Eh, you’re rubbing off on me.” You grumble with a fake annoyance.

How to Say “I Love You”
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Reader
Word Count: 651
Warnings: slight anxiety, fluff, my stuttering stupid brain (sorry), GN!reader (no use of pronouns, one use of Y/n)
Summary: The reader gets anxious trying to tell Matt something.
“What is it, Y/n?” Matt asked, concerned. “Well, we’ve been together for a little while now and I-I wanted to talk about our relationship. Because I-I…” I had to turn away because this was getting embarrassing.  “I don't understand. What are you trying to tell me? Do you want to…break up?” “No! No. Not even close. Ugh I suck at this!” I buried my face in my hands miserably because I didn't want to break up with him, but I couldn't speak English to save my life apparently. “Then what’s wrong?” I got up from his couch and started pacing because the frustration was taking over and I didn't know how to say those stupid 3 words. “I don't know what's wrong with me. It shouldn't be that hard. If I could just shut my stupid anxiety-ridden brain off for 3 SECONDS maybe I could-” Suddenly Matt was standing right in front of me, stopping me and my nonsense in my tracks. “Slow down, Sweetheart. Breathe.” He held on to my arms as he waited for me to follow his instructions. He waited patiently, his head tilted to the side and I could tell he was waiting for my racing heart to slow. When he was satisfied with what he heard he straightened again before asking, “Now, slowly, tell me what you need to say.” “I… wanted to say that I-I…” I steadied myself before saying, “am an idiot!” I groaned in frustration as somehow the words wouldn't come out of me correctly. I let my head fall against his chest as I wallowed in my misery. This was not at all how I'd wanted tonight to go. What I had planned seemed so easy. A nice, simple dinner and then I would tell him how I felt. Without stuttering. But then I got nervous and things came out completely wrong and now I was struggling to even explain why I was acting like a complete maniac. “That's not true.” He held me to him, not letting go as he said softly, “Whatever is going on in that pretty little head of yours, I can't help until you tell me.” He punctuated this with an equally soft kiss to my temple that almost brought me to tears because if I could just get the stupid words out this would all be going so much better. He waited patiently for me to speak up. And finally, I did. I groaned and pushed myself free of his hold and went back to pacing as I said, “I wanted to tell you I loved you without stuttering, but as you can tell, that failed horribly; and now I'm trying to save myself from further embarrassment but I just keep digging this hole deeper and deeper and deeper.” He’d stayed in the same place but called out from behind me, “You wanted to tell me what?” I didn't even think as I turned around and said, “I love you.” My eyes closed in exasperation with myself, when I turned and saw the smirk on his face, it hit me. I had to smile, that bastard. “Nice, Murdock. How long ago did you find out?” He chuckled. “I heard you practicing outside my apartment.” “And you let me sit here and ramble like an idiot?!” “I was letting you get there on your own.” He said with a small shrug as he made his way towards me again. “Plus, you're kind of adorable when you're nervous.” “Yeah? Well, next time, don't let me almost break up with you before I get to my actual point.” I huffed, frustrated. He pulled me back into his arms as he said, “Well, next time I'll be sure to not let that happen.” He chuckled before placing a soft kiss on my lips. “I love you.” I said. “Terrible decision, really.” He leaned in and pressed his lips to mine in a soft kiss before saying sweetly, “I love you, too.”

Ellie!!!
Okay hear me out!
What about matt dating an artist and they really want to share art and how they create all of that but yeah matt is blind so at some point they sit down in his lap and let him hold a paintbrush their hand over his and start painting how they usually paint, when they mix paints together they always tell in detail what kind of color they make and use sounds and feeling to describe it.
Matt might not be abel to see how it looks like but the most fun part of painting for me personally is creating it, the process of it and the movements and mixing colours together and sharing that part of art might be really cute!
I'm so soft 🥰 here we go!!
You had always wanted to share your love for art with Matt
At first, he had been reluctant, he'd felt like he wouldn't be able to share your excitement because he couldn't experience the same way that you do
One evening, he confessed he felt that way and from then on, you made it your aim to change that.
At first, you tried to show him your art through touch, you'd have him trail his fingers over the dried paints and multimedia parts of the piece, explaining the feeling they were supposed to evoke, the moods they represented.
And he loved it, but he still felt like there was something missing when it came to your art
Which was how you ended up one Friday night after a nice night out, you now sitting in his lap, guiding him through the meditative beginning of any good painting.
"Like this, feel how it feels. We're mixing a little green into blue." You told him, letting him feel the motion of the mixing, the weight of the brush in his hand while your gentle grip on his guided him.
"Describe it to me." He spoke quietly.
"It's a swirl of colour, not fully blended, like when you combine two complimentary flavours together."
Swiping colours onto the canvas, Matt relaxed at the feeling. The process was more comfortable than he'd imagined, maybe it was the feeling of you against him, your fingers against his, you nestled comfortably in his lap. Or maybe this was just how it was supposed to feel.
"Careful strokes, like this." You explained, letting him lean into the feeling. "What does it feel like?" You asked, barely above a whisper.
"Like I'm painting clouds." He mumbled, concentrating so tightly on his painting that he barely registered that he'd even responded.
A little while passed until he paused. "How does it look?" Matt asked.
"Mm, I think the better question is how does it feel?" You countered.
Matt smirked, softened by your approach, sweet and gentle and encouraging.
"It feels... Like a deep breath of fresh, cold winter air." He said, with much thought before he even spoke the words.
"I can see it." You replied, nodding.
Matt had created a swirl of clouds, mottled in different hues, some more sporadic, others twirling softly into others, creating a beautiful effect of blues and golds and purples beneath the dappled greys and whites.
"How does it look?" Matt pressed.
"Exactly how you said it felt, Matty." You responded, smiling up at him and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
A smile softened his lips, warm and gentle. Even if he couldn't see the art, he could feel it, and that was enough for him if it meant it was something more he could share with you.

“Any news yet?” Matt asks, closing the door behind him.
“Nope,” Foggy sighs. He puts down his pen and sits back in his seat, planting his feet on the ground and moving his chair from side to side.
“We might have to shut down soon,” Matt frowns.
“Nah,” Foggy shakes his head. “We’ll get clients soon. As long as people see how good-looking the attorneys are.”
Matt lets out a deep chuckle that rumbles through his chest. He sets his briefcase down on his desk, setting his hands on his hips and bearing his weight onto his left foot. “Where’s Karen?”
“Uhhh…” Foggy stalls, checking his watch. “I’m not sure. She has five minutes until she needs to be here, though. Maybe she got stuck in the Starbucks line?”
As if on cue, Karen walks through the door carrying a case of donuts.
“Hi, sorry! You wouldn’t believe the checkout line at the market,” she laughs.
“What flavor are those donuts?” Foggy asks. “A mix of strawberry icing with sprinkles and chocolate icing,” she answers.
“Then I think we can forgive you,” Foggy grins. He takes the case of donuts and the purse that’s falling right off of her arm. He sets them both on her desk.
“Thank you,” she smiles gratefully. “You don’t have to keep giving us treats, you know,” Matt says.
Karen shrugs and sighs, “least I could do since I’m working for free.”
“Don’t spend all your savings on us, though,” Matt says.
“I don’t mind. It’s a treat for me, too,” Karen assures him.
“Plus, these are delicious,” Foggy says with chocolate icing all over his lips. Karen takes a strawberry iced donut, humming in delight as she bites into it. “These are very good. Very fresh and still warm.”
Matt takes a chocolate iced donut, taking a small bite of it. “Mmm, these are delicious. Thank you so much Karen.”
“My pleasure,” she grins. “So, any walk-ins so far?”
“Not since we opened…” Foggy checks his watch, “one minute ago.”
“Right,” she laughs lightly. “Well, more time to eat these donuts, right?”
“Exactly,” Foggy nods enthusiastically.
A knock on the door sounds. Matt, Foggy and Karen all perk up, looking at each other confused.
“Do we have our hours up on Google yet?” Foggy asks.
“Are they at our door?” Karen asks.
Matt focuses on the person who’s behind the door. His nose picks up a sweet, light scent of perfume. The clean smell of body wash hits his nasal cavity, coconut and vanilla shampoo mixing in as well. He hears a soft and impatient sigh.
“I think so,” Matt nods. “Karen,” he nods, holding his arm out, and points to the door.
“Right,” she nods. She walks up with a little smile, opening the door slowly. She gives you a big smile, opening the door wide for you. “Hi! Are you here for Nelson and Murdock?”
“Yes,” you nod. “Do you take walk-ins?”
“Most definitely!” Karen nods. She looks to Foggy, moving side to side as she becomes giddy. Foggy sets the donut down in the box, wiping his sticky hands on his suit.
“Hi, I’m Foggy Nelson.” he holds his hand out for you to shake. You slowly take his hand, giving him a small smile. “I’m Y/n L/n.”
“It’s very nice to meet you. This is our secretary Karen Page. This is my partner, Matt Murdock,” Foggy says, walking next to Matt. He pats back on the back rather roughly, coughing quietly. “Say something, dude.”
Matt stands in the reception office, taking you in. You’re dressed awfully nice this morning. You have on a silk blouse with a pencil skirt and long heels that click obnoxiously with every step you take. He can feel your eyes on him as well. It seems as though you’re analyzing him like he is to you. Your body is rigid. Not one muscle or part of you wavers in the silence. Your heartbeat is so steady, his ears trick him into hearing an irregularity. You just seem so perfect — too perfect.
“It’s nice to meet you, Ms L/n,” Matt says.
“Please, call me Y/n,” you say. You hold your arm our for him to shake. Foggy chuckles a little bit. “Matt, here, is blind. Hence the glasses.”
“Oh, I’m sorry!” you laugh awkwardly. “Of course, I-I should’ve noticed. My apologies.”
“It’s alright. Don’t apologize,” Matt smiles.
Foggy looks to Matt, raising his brow in confusion. He doesn’t know why Matt is acting so weird, but Foggy is determined to keep the ball rolling.
“So, what brings you to our firm?” he asks.
“You make it sound like there are better ones out there,” you tease. Foggy runs a sweaty palm through his gelled hair. “Well, there aren’t! Which is why we are so excited that you’ve chosen us.”
“Me, too. I heard you guys deal with difficult cases,” you say.
Matt’s head perks up. He furrows his brows, shifting his weight between both feet. “Depends.”
Foggy’s mouth opens and closes as he looks at Matt, then back to you. “What my partner means is that we really like to dive deep before we commit to a case. And in this case, we would like to sit down and discuss what we will be dealing with.”
“Of course. I’m blocked out the whole day for this,” you smile.
“Great! Do you want donuts? Karen brought them in for us.” Foggy presents to you the box.
“Oh, no. But thank you. You guys work so hard as lawyers, you deserve all of them,” you decline.
“Alright, suit yourself. They are delicious,” Foggy grins. “If you don’t mind, we’ll be taking in our debriefing.” Foggy holds a hand out to guide you. “Would you like something to drink while we talk?” he asks as you two walk away from Matt and Karen.
Karen smiled as you walk with Foggy, laughing at his witty comments. She then faces Matt who hadn’t moved a muscle or made any noise in the past two minutes. She crosses her arms over her chest. “What’s the matter with you?”
“Nothing,” Matt says quickly. “You sure? Because if you weren’t blind, I’m sure you would’ve been staring daggers at her the whole time,” Karen chuckles.
Matt sighs, planting his hands on his waist. “There’s just… something off about her.”
“The fact that she wants you guys as her lawyer. If anything, I’d think that that’s an amazing thing,” Karen says.
He shakes his head. “I just can’t place what’s wrong with her.”
“Well, why don’t you talk to her then and find out? She did hint at her case being difficult,” Karen shrugs. “It seems like Foggy is getting all the details right now.” she looks over to the window. You and Foggy are still laughing, sitting on opposite sides of the table.
“Right,” Matt sighs. He walks onto the debriefing room, making you and Foggy go quiet.
“Finally! I was getting worried,” Foggy says. “Sorry,” Matt murmurs. “I’m so tired.”
“Long night?” you ask, sitting up in your seat. Matt raises his brow, resting his arms onto the desk. “You could say that.”
“Me, too. It was the last day of the weekend. So, you know, last time to party before next week,” you grin.
“Exactly my thoughts!” Foggy beams. “Do you guys mind discussing the case now?” Matt asks.
“Oh, yeah. Of course,” Foggy nods, flipping open his notepad. “What brings you in here today, Y/n?”
“Well, I woke up this morning and there was a dead man in my apartment,” you say.
Foggy stops scribbling down his notes and looks up at you, mouth agape.
“Did you kill this man?” Matt asks. You scoff and sit back in your chair. “What do you think?”
“Did you happened to see who left him there?” Foggy asks.
“No,” you shake your head. “But I found this in his pocket.” you take out a business card and slide it over to Foggy.
“You touched the body?” Matt asks. “Are you aware that your DNA is on him now, and the police could trace this back to you?”
“I used gloves,” you add. “Oh,” Matt hums. “Well, that’s good.”
“Vanessa Marianna?” Foggy reads the card. “Isn’t she an art dealer?”
“I believe so,” Matt nods. “What does a dead guy have to do with this?”
“Did she sell him some fake art and he tried to sell it back but then he got murdered?” Foggy jokes.
“Do you know who Vanessa is married to?” you ask.
“Uh, no… should I?” Foggy asks. “She’s married to Wilson Fisk,” Matt says breathlessly.
You look over him, your lips quirking up. You watch as his jaw tightens, revealing the sharp jawline underneath his beard.
“You know of Fisk?” you ask. “He’s one of the biggest businessmen in Hell’s Kitchen,” Matt answers. He opens his mouth to say more, but quickly closes it. You bite your cheek lightly to contain your amusement. “Do you know anything else?”
“You shouldn’t be asking the questions here,” Matt snaps.
“Matt, please,” Foggy frowns. “That’s not how we speak to our clients.”
Matt sighs, the crease between his eyebrows becoming tighter. “I’m sorry, Ms L/n. I… I do not know anything else about Mr. Fisk. Do you?”
“Nope,” you shake your head, popping the ‘p’. “Then why are you mentioning him?” Foggy asks.
“Just thought it would be of interest to you two,” you shrug.
“Is this your difficult case?” Foggy asks. “No,” you chuckle. “Since a dead guy was found in my apartment, I am being charged with murder.”
“Oh, right,” Foggy nods. “Did you wake up with his blood on your hands?”
“Nope. But the police think I washed it all off. The murder weapon was also one of my kitchen knives, which helps me a lot,” you remark sarcastically.
Foggy nods in agreement. “Definitely, it does. So, you didn’t hear anything last night?”
“No. I was out with my friends last night after work. I got home around one in the morning, and nobody was found,” you explain.
“You slept through a murder?” Matt questions. “I’m a sleepy drunk, what can I say? Once I hit the bed, I’m out,” you shrug.
“Did the police take the knife to be tested?” Foggy asks.
“Yep. They said, and I quote, “get ready for your DNA to be on this,” you answer.
“Are you in their custody yet?” Matt asks. “Nope because they literally have no proof I did it. His blood wasn’t on my hands, none of my hair on his body. Unless they get my fingerprints on the knife, I’m not a criminal,” you grin. “Officially,” you add.
“And you would like us to defend your case?” Foggy asks.
“Yes, please,” you nod. “This seems pointless. What if they do find your fingerprints. What are we supposed to do?” Matt questions.
“Well, it is her kitchen knife. So it probably will. It all depends on if they find another set of fingerprints,” Foggy says.
“And what if they don’t? This case is meaningless,” Matt says.
Foggy sighs, “do you mind if I step out and speak with my partner?”
“Not at all. Take your time,” you smile.
“Thank you,” Foggy smiles back. He grabs Matt by the arm, dragging him out of the room. “We need the money, Matt.”
Matt sighs and nods. “I know… but something doesn’t seem right.”
Foggy shakes his head in disbelief. “No. You don’t get to do that. Not on this case.”
“Wha- Foggy. When have I been wrong?” Matt asks, raising his brows.
Foggy rolls his eyes in annoyance. “That does not matter. Whether or not we win this case, we will still get money. We need that. Plus, she seems like a nice person. We still need to wait for the forensic’s findings. Why not just talk to her about what happened last night, get the data, and then go from there?”
Matt goes silent for a few moments. He doesn’t trust you one bit. From the way your heart stays steady, to your overly chipper mood about almost being charged with murder. Something just isn’t right about you. But, Foggy is right. They do need the money, and more meetings with you could help pay off the building, and finally pay all three of Nelson and Murdock’s employees.
“Well?” Foggy asks. Matt nods, “okay. We’ll take the case.”
“Great!” Foggy exclaims. “But I’m going make sure she doesn’t do anything devious,” Matt says.
Foggy chuckles softy, patting Matt on the back. “Whatever will help you sleep at night.”
The two walk back into the room. You greet them with a smile.
“Conflict over?” you hum. “Yes,” Foggy sighs in relief. “We will be happy to take your case, Ms L/n.”
“Again, call me Y/n,” you remind him. “Right, Y/n. Do you mind if we ask you a few more questions?” Foggy asks.
“Not at all. I’m an open book,” you say.
Matt looks in your direction, focusing on your heartbeat once more. It’s soft and perfectly in time. You’re going to be a hard nut to crack.

That’s a Wrap
Tumblr media
Word Count: 828
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Reader
Summary: Meeting your boyfriend’s family seems scarier than it should.
Warnings: Reader is Anxious(tm) but it doesn’t get described in too much detail since this is more of a comfort focused fic.
Author’s Note: I am in a very self indulgent mood right now and that’s my whole justification for this ngl.
❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀✿ ❀✿❀
"I thought you said you were done for the night?" There's a flash of fear. Your hands tighten on the scissors in your hand, head whipping up to the doorway, and the moment passes before it ever really takes root when you see Matt. You want to feel guilty for waking him, or annoyed that he scared you, but honestly all you can feel is relief that you're not the only person awake anymore.
"I was," your gaze falls back to the boxes in front of you. "And then I realized that this is the ugliest wrapping paper I have ever seen."
It's not that bad really. A simple red plaid that when you described to Matt he insisted sounded the same as a tie that Foggy wore around this time of year and an even simpler silver dotted with snowflakes that matched the colors of Karen's bracelet. It's more that the wrapping job is bumpy, the edges are messy and unprofessional and the thought of not putting your best foot forward for your first impression makes you feel sick.
You busy yourself with the retapping of paper as Matt moves to settle next to you, silent as ever. The warmth that came from his presence next to you helps none the less.
"It looks fine to me," His voice is still low with sleep, hair tousled just barely. It's more from your wandering hands than his sleeping habits and the creature clawing away at your ribcage makes slows at the joke. Your sharp breath of laughter makes some of the worry fall from his posture, but not all.
Matt doesn't push you to talk, just brings his hands to hold yours, keeping them from picking at the tape on Foggy's present again.
"I want them to like me," you whisper after a moment. Matt smiles and it makes your heart skip still to see how soft he looks in these moments. He could probably avoid half of his fights if he just smiled every now and again, give the criminals a heart attack or make them fall in love with him instead of shooting at him.
"They will. Trust me." You scotch a little closer, just enough to rest your head on his shoulder. Matt gives your hand a gentle squeeze. "By the end of the night Foggy'll be trying to convince you you're too good for me and Karen will have added you to the group chat where they complain about me."
The creature in your chest sleeps as you play with his fingers.
"Can I tell them you picked the wrapping paper?" There's a laugh that shakes your body where it rests on his. You can hear his heartbeat and for just a second you wish you could hear as well as Matt did so you always had that grounding noise.
"Yes, but only if you come to bed and actually get some sleep, you’re going to need it if they bring out the karaoke again." You match your breaths to his, feel Matt waiting for you to catch yourself again without pushing.
It's probably for the best he doesn't smile at all those villains, you're not sure you could fight them off and you know you couldn't handle loosing him.
"You didn't tell me you did karaoke," Matt stands, smile blinding as you let him pull you upwards. Your hands stay linked well after you've moved through the doorway.
"I don’t." This time you pull him downwards into bed, anxious to curl up next to him again, and Matt follows. There's a little tilt at the edge of his lips, not a smile exactly, too knowing and secretive. His heartbeat is in your ears again nearly the second Matt's head hits the bed and his arms rest on your form seconds after.
"Please? What if I sing with you?" Sleep is beginning to weigh on you, eyes heavy and breath slow. It bothers you that there's scissors on the floor still, that the presents newest wrapping paper don’t have bows on them but the thought of leaving bed again bothers you more so you let it lay.
"We'll see if you can get me drunk enough. How about that?" There’s a kiss on the top of your head and even as you close your eyes you can see that smile again. There’s that light tone to his voice that he never seems to use with anyone else, affectionate even when it’s teasing.
"Come on, one song. I promise I won't record it." Matt laughs again and even as you yawn,
“Liar.” is what Matt says but it doesn’t sound like it in your head. In your head it sounds like I love you and it feels the same nearly twelve hours later when you try to tell his friends who picked out the wrapping paper.

“Todays narrative writing prompt:
Write a scene between two of your characters with no dialogue. Make it a quiet private moment where we see what they’re like together when no one else is around.”
Hot water runs down your back, your head pressed against the cool tiles of the shower. Deep breaths slow your racing thoughts leaving you with an empty head. The first moment of peace for the day.
The door to the shower opens, you only realise when the rush of cold air hits you like a train. Goosebumps spread across your back as the burning chill sets into your bones.
Matt’s hands meet your lower back. Sliding upwards at an excruciatingly slow pace. Matt places a soft kiss against your shoulder as he begins to massage your sore shoulders.
His calloused hands constraint against the smooth skin of shoulders. Every ounce of his love poured into each motion.
Stress washing down the drain with the water as the bathroom is taken over by steam, leaving the room in a haze.

Hi, this is my first fanfic ever. Also English is not my native language so please ignore the mistakes.
I might turn this in to a series, telling how the reader and Matthew met etc.
Summary: You and Matthew had been friends for a time. Both of you loved each other but neither of you admitted till today…
TW: Fleabag season 2 spoilers, angst with a happy ending
Word Count: 2,325
Song: Emotions by Brenda Lee and So This Is Love by Ilene Woods
YOU ARE MY CURE
Emotions by Brenda Lee
I was halfway through season 2 episode 6 of Fleabag when he appeared at my door. Turns out this was one of those rare occasions where both of us had a free night.
— "Hi, hope I am not interrupting something."
He said with a smile on his face.
— " You know you're not. Are you hungry? I was just making pasta."
— " It smells delicious. You are a saint (Y/N)."
— " That's blasphemy, Matthew."
I joked. He let out one of those majestic laughs of his. I wasn't a believer nor was I raised as one. Tho it would be a huge mistake to say that I was raised at all. We were now in the kitchen. He sat down on the long counter that I was also using as a table.
— " What were you watching before I arrived?"
— " Do you remember the show that I made Franklin watch?"
— " The one that he talked to you about for days? How could I ever forget? It was called Fleabag right?"
— " Yep, that's the one."
— " You must really love this show."
— " Yes, I do. "
— " Well, let's watch it then."
I panicked because I knew I would cry if I continue. So I lied hoping it wouldn't be caught on his radar.
— " I only have 10 minutes left to finish the entire show. You would hear so many spoilers."
— "I don't mind."
He said with a smile that indicates that he knew I was lying. I had no choice now. I would never admit that I would cry if I continue. Emotions are not my thing. He learned that thus far. I was cold and an incredibly distant person. Tho I was different when there were only two of us. I never cry in front of people. But I did cry in front of him twice. But those times were different. Nevertheless, I was going to hold myself. I could do that. I've been in situations where I had to hold back not only tears but any emotions. But just not with a human hound dog around me who can easily smell my tears.
— " Suit yourself."
I said while handing him a bowl of pasta. I tried to calm my breath down. I was normally good at that but then again everything was different when it comes to him. Sat down next to him with a bowl of pasta myself. I gave him a summary before I hit the play button. We were now at the wedding scene where The Preist was talking about love. I was trying to make the lump in my throat go away by shoving pasta in my mouth but when we got to the part where Fleabag was confessing her love, I couldn’t eat even if I forced myself to. Now the show was over. I tried to stop my eyes from forming tears afraid that he would pick up on it. But I was too late.
—" You are about to cry, I can tell."
He said with a sad smile.
— "Will you just fuck off and be like a normal blind person for a second."
I tried the joke, my voice full of emotions other than happiness. Knowing he can understand it as well made me furious but also made me feel a similar feeling whenever I was alone with him: Wanting to let go. I wanted to open myself up to him. Even tho he got a glimpse of who I am -from the small windows he discovered in my walls that I built to hide my true self - I wanted to tell him everything. But I couldn't. I got up and tried to walk away from him and my feelings. But before I can even stand he pulled me back to the couch, much closer to him than before. Couldn't help but steal a glance at his lips but only for a second. Cause I was afraid if I stared a bit longer I might give in and let my lips show the words I can't speak...
— "Don't do that." He said. "Don't walk away from me. Ever."
— "I wasn't walking away from you. I was going to the bathroom-"
He instantly cut me and said:
— " You know your heartbeat doesn't change very much when you lie like most people. But I don't need to hear your heartbeat to know that you are lying. Because I know you. Even tho you don't let me."
I wanted to tell him that I do want to let him know me. But I couldn't bring myself to speak. I couldn't dare to open my mouth cause I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to close it till there were no walls anymore.
— " Speak to me (Y/N)."
I looked up at him. His gaze focused somewhere on my face. Warmth was visible in his unseeing eyes. His hand still holding mine from when pulled me back to the couch. One of his legs is curled on the couch so that his body fully faces me. Head tilted aside and leans towards me. Ready to listen. He was too close. Not because of the physical proximity but also because he was dangerously close to my true self. Day by day, brick by brick, he destroyed my walls and some voice in my head whispered that this was the last of it. So I took a deep breath. And started to speak.
— " I love this show so much. And not because of its brilliant absurd-comedy writing of course it's an element but-"
I paused, doubting if I should go on. We sat there in silence for a second. He realised my hesitation to speak.
—"Go on."
He said with an assuring tone.
—" The reason why I watch Fleabag over and over again, especially season 2 is because of the love story between Fleabag and The Preist."
— " But you always say that you hate love stories."
— "Yes. Yes, I do but you see I hate love stories because I don't relate to most of them. But them, them I relate. Fleabag is much like me. She built these walls around her to survive. And she chooses sarcasm, humour and sex as her defence mechanism. She also does this thing where she looks at the camera from time to time in between the conversations by breaking the 4th wall. And when she does that she is herself. Her true self I mean. Beyond the walls and masks and defences. Likewise, The Priest has walls and masks. But unlike her, he chose his defence mechanism as religion. There is a scene where he says: " I can't have sex with you because I'll fall in love with you and if I fall in love with you then my life would be fucked."
I paused. Not because I was lost for words. On the contrary, I knew precisely what I was going to say next. I just couldn't bring myself to say it. Cause if I do then there was no going back. I looked at him and I knew whether I say it or not there was no going back.
— "And... well... I relate to that wholeheartedly."
I watched his gaze change. I felt like if I would wait a bit longer then he would say something or worse do something. So I continued.
—"Now here is the part that gets me: The Priest can see when she speaks to the camera. So that means he can see her true self beyond her walls."
I took a deep breath, my voice threatening to break at any moment.
—"And that is... that is just... so fucking beautiful."
I took another breath in, tears threatening to fall from my eyes.
—" But even tho they understood and saw each other beyond all the deception in the end they ended up all alone. And what's worst is they now know what it feels like to be truly loved."
The fight that I had between me and my tears was lost. Now they were falling from my eyes. I could see on his face that he was fighting with himself not to wipe the tears off of my eyes and pull me closer to him. Looking at the ceiling, hoping it would stop my tears from falling I continued.
—" I relate and understand both of them completely. She let go and said "I love you" right out loud and he let his guard down and fell in love with her. But after sacrificing everything to survive he knew that love was a luxury he can not afford. You see I spend the majority of my life trying to survive. So just like them, I built walls. Just like them, I played a character to anyone and everyone I knew. The only difference is I chose my defence mechanism as sarcasm and being a heartless bitch."
I lowered my eyes from the ceiling to capture his eyes, knowing he could feel my gaze on him.
— "But you know what?"
— "What?"
He said now his eyes are watering as well.
— "I am not heartless Matthew, I just had to learn how to use my heart less to survive."
Tears shamelessly rolled down my face. I tried to quiet my sob by taking a deep breath which I failed miserably. Hearing my sob made his tears fall. He grabbed my other hand as well to squeeze it. He knew I wasn't done speaking, so he didn't interfere. Now looking at our hands I continued.
— "So I have only three options: One, I would put myself out there like Fleabag but to the wrong person or at the wrong time and end up heartbroken. Or just like The Preist, I would be afraid to let go so I'll miss the opportunity of love by turning it down and end up heartbroken. Or I will continue as I am which means I'll die unloved and untouched"
That was the last drop for Matthew. Without wasting another moment he grabbed me by my cheeks and kissed me with a force that was enough to suffocate me yet there was a delicacy to his touch that said more than words ever could. His lips were soft yet his facial hair was rough on my skin. When I melted into his touch - which was extremely quick- I pulled him closer by his shirt and kissed him back. And at that moment there was no one else in the world other than us. No other thought was in my mind other than Matthew. He broke the kiss by tugging at my lower lip. I let out a moan. He rested his forehead on mine. Now the reality was crawling back to me. The harsh truth is that I couldn't afford love.
— "You don't have to die unloved and untouched (Y/N). We can make this work."
I turned my head to my side. Fighting to urge to cry.
— "Hey (Y/N). Listen to me."
He gently grabbed me by my jaw and made me face him.
— " Listen to me. We can make this work."
He paused, took a deep breath, and opened his lips to say something. I knew what was coming. I want to stop him from saying it but I was also yearning for him to say it as well.
— "I love you (Y/N)."
I gasped. Not hearing those words for so many years. Not from the people that mattered. And he mattered. More than anyone or anything.
— " Ohh, Matthew." I said with sorrow in my voice. Grabbed the side of his face then watch him lean into my touch.
— " I... can't. I can't do this to you. You see not one person in my entire family has a happy marriage or a happy life. Not one. Not on my mother's or my father's side. When I was growing up I thought we were poisoned. But then I realised that... that... that we are the poison. You deserve so much better than me." I said tears falling once again. A sharp pain in my chest.
— " (Y/N), there is no one for me other than you. There never will be. And it's you who deserves better than me."
—" That's not true, that's not true Matthew. You know that I had to shut down all my feelings to survive. That includes love as well. So now if I say those words back. If I open my feelings back up. That means unlocking Pandoro's box. A tsunami of emotions will come down on me. On us. And I can not do that. Not to you"
— " Then will fight it away. Just like we always do. We fight it together. Because I love you. And I swear to God I will never stop loving you. I don't care if your family was poisoned or not. Because you are my cure (Y/N). "
So This Is Love by Ilene Woods
Feeling that I started to relax in his touch with his words, he leaned in more and whispered on my lips with the tiniest smile.
— " And I love you (Y/N)"
— " I love you too Matthew."
—" This might be the death for both of us."
I said.
—" It might. But it's a risk worth taking. Wouldn't you agree?"
He said with a smile that made me smile as well. He didn't need to hear the answer to know that it indeed sounded like heaven. Our lips were connected once again. And I knew he was the home that I never had. He was my religion. And I was a true believer.

PS: Well this was my little story. Again sorry for any mistakes. I am thinking that I will write multiple stories of Matt x Reader and then put them into chronological order and make them a series but will see. Let me know what you think about my idea and my story. I would love to hear your thoughts and reviews. I am also open to requests. I am a film and series junkie so you can request for me just about anything. I would write smut as well. Just so you know ;))

Labels (Matt Murdock x fem!Reader)
Author’s Note: Hi! So, I've kinda put myself on a writing hiatus for a while and, in turn, have limited my time on Tumblr as of late. I was/still kind of am feeling uninspired in terms of writing and ideas, but this one came easily, and it needed to be written and shared before the excitement left me. I still have a million other stories and ideas I want to get going on, but for now, I hope you enjoy this one. :)
Summary: One evening when Matt tries to surprise you with a home cooked dinner date, he's stunned by something you've done for him.
Warnings: Sweet adorable fluff. No use of (Y/N), but it does refer to the reader being feminine/female-identifying
Other Characters: Karen Page
Word Count: 1,158
Tumblr media
“Hello?” you say over the phone, very clearly distracted by whatever is in front of you.
“Hi, angel,” Matt smiles, feeling a weight off of his shoulders when he finally hears your voice when you pick up your desk phone.
“Matt.” The way you say his name lights him up inside. It’s alway so warm, so inviting, so smooth—like when butter spreads perfectly even on a piece of toast. The gentleness of each consonant and vowel that escapes your lips never fails to chip away and brush off the stress of whatever is weighing him down; from his day job to his nightly activities, you—every last bit of you, is his solace.
“I was half afraid that I’d get your answering machine,” he breathes as he leans back in his chair, listening to how you move the receiver from one ear to the other.
“I’m sorry, Matt. Today has just been hectic. Meetings, email approvals, we rearranged some furniture because no one was responding to emails—.”
“Sweetheart, you don’t need to apologize.”
“I do if it means I worried you. I mean, I must have missed calls and texts on my cell from you if you resorted to my landline.”
“No, not worried. I was just curious if you wanted to go out to dinner tonight. Maybe try that new Italian place that opened up a few blocks from your apartment.”
“I didn’t know there was a new restaurant opening.”
“Yeah,” he lies. “It’s a small place. Intimate, nice.”
“Well, I don’t know how I could say no to that. It sounds like the perfect thing to make me forget today.”
“Take deep breaths, sweetheart. You’ll get through it. I’m here for you.”
“I know,” you breathe. “Listen, I need to get back to work, but I’ll see you tonight.”
“I’ll pick you up at six.”
“Perfect. I love you, Matt.”
“Love you, too.”
You exchange soft goodbyes before hanging up the phone, Matt sliding his cell back into the pocket of his slacks.
“Hey, Karen?” he calls out.
“Yeah?” she responds, sounding as if she’s lost in thought with whatever is at hand.
“What time is it?”
She pauses. “Almost 2:30.”
“You think that you and Foggy will be okay for the rest of the day?”
“I think so.”
“Great,” he says with a smile, standing up and putting on the suit jacket that was hanging on the back of his chair. “I’m heading out. I need to get some groceries to surprise my girlfriend.”
Tumblr media
Matt undoes the last of your door’s locks as the bag of groceries rests on his hips, relieved when the heavy piece of wood starts to swing open. For as frustrating as your day was, Matt secretly hopes that you won’t come home early and catch him in the middle of his surprise; it took him a lot longer to get everything he needed at the store, throwing off his timing. He’d be lucky if he got everything plated by the time you got home. Matt lets out a deep breath as he places the bag of groceries on the counter and takes his glasses off, centering himself to focus on the plan and not let his race against the clock shake him too much. After hanging his jacket on the hooks by the door, he rolls up his sleeves and throws his tie over his shoulder before taking out his phone, tapping at the screen until he finds the recipe he saved for tonight.
As his phone reads off the list of ingredients, he feels over what he grabbed, cursing when he notices that he’s missing garlic powder.
“She has to have some,” he hums. He knows you like to cook, always eager to try new recipes that you find while scrolling on your phone, and therefore always getting new spices and ingredients to make sure your kitchen is stocked for whatever the next interesting dish brings. Lucky for Matt, you two are always over each other’s place, craving one another’s presence, so he knows your apartment almost as well as he knows his own. Turning around to the skinny cabinet where Matt knows you keep your spices, he opens it up and prepares his nose for the strong mix of smells that are about to hit him so he can sniff out what he needs. As his hand extends into the cabinet, what he doesn’t expect to find is small bumps over each and every label. It’s odd, but familiar. Grabbing one of the spices in the front, he carefully takes it off the shelf and runs his fingers over the bumps once more.
Nutmeg.
Matt lets out a shaky breath, tears stinging at his eyes. He reaches up for container after container, running his fingers over all of the labels, finding that he’s able to read them all. By the time Matt grabs the garlic powder, the cabinet is practically empty and he’s crying in the kitchen.
“Matt?” he hears you call tentatively. He didn’t even hear you come in, and now you’re at his side, wrapping him in a hug and holding him close to soothe him. God, he loves when you hold him. Call it being touch-starved, but nothing felt better to Matt than when you have your arms around him. Sure, being in your apartment is comforting—your smell surrounding him and engulfing his senses, but nothing was better than the actual thing, your body against his, skin to skin. “Matty, is everything okay?”
“Uh, yeah,” he sniffles, holding you close and kissing your forehead. “It’s just, uh, well this.”
You pull back slightly from his hug and wipe away some of his tears before peeking down to see what’s in his hands.
“Garlic powder?” you try. “Is it bad?”
“No, no,” he smiles, wiping away some stray tears with the heel of his hand. “It’s great.”
“I thought we were going out to dinner tonight. But with all my spices out, something tells me you might have fibbed.”
“I did fib. I wanted to surprise you with dinner, especially after hearing about your day, but you’re the one that surprised me.” Taking your hand, he gently guides your fingers over the label to where the braille is.
“Oh.” Matt listens to how the blood rushes to your cheeks and how your heart rate picks up. “The label.”
“The label,” he echos softly.
“I finally found a good braille label maker that I liked,” you begin to explain. “I mean, we’re always at each other’s place. I wanted to make my home feel a little more homey for you.”
“You really love me, huh?”
He listens to how you smile from ear to ear. “So much more than you’ll ever know, Matty.”
Putting the garlic powder down, he takes your face in his hands and pulls you in for a deep kiss, your arms happily snaking around him and holding him close.

Neighbor
Tumblr media
Matt Murdock x Reader
Summary: You're Matt Murdock's neighbor, and one night he hears you pray.
Words: Under 1k
A/N: I just be posting anything now lol wrote this in my notes app hope you like it!!!
The building was quiet most of the time, but unfortunately for Matt Murdock, that wasn't the case, ever. Most people couldn't hear apartments three doors down and the conversations that went on in them. But Matt could. And he could never avoid them.
He distracted himself from the outside noise with menial chores–cleaning whatever dishes were left in the sink, reorganizing glasses in the cabinet, and practicing his fighting. But when dusting and cleaning wasn't enough, when even the music he played couldn't drown out the noise, he tended to listen to a particular apartment: hers.
She lived alone. Right across the hall, diagonal from his own door. Of all the apartments he was forced to listen to day in and day out, hers was the most peaceful. The quietest. She didn't have loud conversations with anyone, she didn't have a dog who would bark in the middle of the night. Instead, she had a teapot on the stove that would whistle when ready; she spent most nights quietly flipping through pages of a book. She got up to that annoying phone alarm and trotted to the bathroom to get ready for work. Matt's not sure what she does, but sometimes he hears her come home late when he's about to get ready to patrol the streets as Daredevil.
Matt realized going over this in his head was a little more than creepy and trod the thin line of being a stalker, but his heightened senses and what they picked up on were unavoidable. The times he couldn't focus on anything else or tune out the other noises in the apartment he focused on hers because it was the most calming to his senses.
He's only run into her a handful of times on the rare occasion they both leave for work in the morning. One time, they both exited their apartments at the same time. She quietly waved good morning until she realized she waved at a blind man and then uttered a more audible "good morning." Most people would ignore the realization and awkwardly go about their day, but not her. She always made sure to say good morning from then on. Matt liked that–no, liked you.
Matt found himself eager to get home after work more often than not, in hopes of coming home at the same time as her. Anything to get a small interaction would be enough for him. Even if it was as small as her holding the door for him or wishing him a good night. He looked forward to these small interactions so much that if they didn't happen, Matt would have a much less than good day.
One night, though, when he was just about to let himself fall asleep after a rather rough night patrolling Hell's Kitchen, he heard her. He heard her in a way he hadn't before. From the hiccups, to the shaky breaths, and the lingering taste of salt in the air, he knew she was crying.
Matt shot up in bed as he began to listen more intently–what happened?
"Please, God," he heard her whispered prayer, "Please make sure I make it home safe and unharmed from work. Please. There's so much violence in this city and I'm scared to walk alone at night."
Matt took a shaky breath, gripping his silk sheets in his hands. She was scared, he confirmed. Well, rest assured, he thought. Tomorrow night, he would make sure she arrived home safely from work himself.
TO BE CONTINUED??? IDK.

~ Ahhh I finally wrote something!! It's really short but I love it, it's so soft and cute

~ Tired Matt coming home from patrol ~
“Matt, is that you?” You call from the bedroom as a loud bang brings your attention to the living room. You slowly climb out of bed and head toward the source of noise. Your boyfriend Matt is standing in the living room, still in his Daredevil suit.
“Hi, honey.” He quietly lets out, showing no intention of moving.
“Are you okay?” You keep your distance as you check on him. If something serious happened on his patrol, moving too close might worsen him.
“I’m alright, baby, just a long night.” After a moment, he finally moves across the room to you, wrapping his arms around you. You sigh softly in his hold, relief flooding your body as you see he’s not injured.
“How about I warm you up some food so we can go to bed?” You don’t get a verbal response from the devil clade man. Instead, you get an annoyed grunt as you pull out of his arms. “We can cuddle in bed, but first, you need to eat and change into something more comfortable.”
“Hm, can we cuddle while I eat too?” When you turn from your position in the kitchen, you can see he's taken his helmet off, leaving his face bare to you.
“We can cuddle whenever you’d like, baby.” A gentle smile lies across your face as you look at Matt standing before you.
While Matt decides to take a quick shower, you head back to the kitchen to warm up some food. Dating Matt can often be scary and stressful, but moments like this make it worth it. After a few minutes of humming to yourself in the kitchen while you wait for Matt, arms suddenly wrap around your waist, making you jump slightly.
“Shit.” You let out, not having heard the shower stop. “Don’t laugh at me. Not all of us have some super sensitive senses.” He continues chuckling behind you, clearly amused by your freight.
“Sorry, sweetheart.” He makes no move to let go of you, only pushing his body closer to yours.
You turn around in his hold, holding out a plate of now-warmed food. “Eat.”
“Y’know, I seem to remember you promising cuddles.” He takes his plate from your hands with fake annoyance.
“I seem to remember you agreeing to eat. You haven't had anything since breakfast, and don't even try to lie about lunch. Foggy already told me you didn't have anything.” You lift your hand to his face to brush back a loose strand of damp hair.
“Wasn't hungry,” Matt mutters, dragging you towards the bedroom. He glances towards the spot next to him as he sits on the bed. “Lie down.”
You giggle quietly at his clingy nature. He’s often like this when he comes home from his patrol, needing to be next to you every moment. It's adorable. “Wow, you’re impatient tonight.”
“Hm” Is his only response. When you climb into bed next to him, he immediately pulls you into his arms, setting you against his chest while he eats his food. “You didn’t have to wait for me, baby. You should've gone to bed.”
“I like waiting for you. I like making sure you get home safe, plus the bed is always freezing when you're not here.” You burrow more against him after he leans over to place the empty plate on the nightstand.
“Ah yes, what would you do without your walking furnace?” He laughs, but it’s true. His apartment is always cold. Sometimes, you think he does it purposely, so you’ll use him as your source of warmth.
“Let’s go to sleep, Matty. I can see how tired you are.”
“Sounds good,” his words come out as half yawn. “I love you.”
“I love you too, baby.” You lean up to give him a soft kiss before lying down against him, more than ready for sleep. Matt practically falls asleep in seconds, but you stay awake for a few minutes longer, simply enjoying the quiet moment and the man with his arms wrapped around you.

The morning sun streams in through the windows. In the distance, a few birds are chirping at the top of their little lungs. A car honks. The people of Hell’s Kitchen are slowly waking up and going about their weekend.
All the noise doesn’t matter to you though. The four walls you call home form a protective shield around you, and the only music in the air is the mixed sound of your moans and Matt’s strong thighs meeting the back of yours as he thrusts his thick cock into the tight confines of your cunt.
He’s behind you, one of his arms wrapped around your shoulders from the front, and the other holds on tight to your hip. He moves your body back against his, thrusting into you over and over again at a gentle pace. You don’t have to do anything but take his long, deep, and slow strokes that you can feel in your stomach.
With every thrust, the tip of his cock brushes against the spongy spot inside of you. The spot that makes your eyes roll back, your toes curl, and stars erupt in front of your eyes. It makes your entire body give in to the compelling pull of absolute pleasure, the coil within you tightening and tightening and tightening, but still too far away to explode.
Matt’s fingers are rough, but when they touch you, they remind you of soft feathers, always making sure not to hurt you. He pours his love into his touch like a poet would bleed his soul into his rhymes. His touch burns into your being—into the essence of who you are—and it consumes you to the point that you could never forget the feeling of Matt Murdock touching you. Sometimes it’s rough, sometimes it’s sensual, but it’s always full of unconditional love.
His sweaty skin slaps against yours. He drags his cock out of your cunt again, slowly, until only the tip remains inside, and you whimper at the loss. He grunts into your ear. The sound of your wetness collecting around his shaft, pouring down your thighs together with his pre-cum like an overfilled glass of white wine, reverberates in his ears. It drives him crazy.
Matt grunts, and he pushes back into you. The squelching sound that your slick folds make is not only audible to him.
You convince yourself that you can feel every single vein along his cock as he fills you in a way only he can. You can feel him twitch, already so sensitive from a sloppy morning fuck—but are you even fucking or are you, in the most literal sense of the word, making love? Are you being primal and animalistic or are you being gentle with each other? It’s more of the latter, you suppose. Neither of you is in a rush. It’s early morning on a Sunday. All you need is each other after life kept you separate for most of the past week. What you have and what you are doing right now is raw, unbridled intimacy—and a primal need that you need to satiate.
His stubble scratches against the sensitive skin of your shoulder. You moan again. The added stimulation intensifies the burning in your core. The position he has got you in allows him to go deeper, but it tightens your walls to the point it’s almost painful. It’s not unlike you to crave a little pain with pleasure.
“You’re so fucking tight like this,” Matt growls into your ear. “I can feel your pulse against my cock. Do you know how fucking lewd that sounds?”
“Oh, God!” Your eyes roll back, and your toes curl as you moan his name again and again.
He chuckles roughly. “Never heard something more beautiful.”
“Matt, please,” you beg without knowing what you’re begging for.
You want to come. You want to clench your walls around his cock and cover him in your wetness until the sheets are soaked; you want him to fill you up with his cum until you’re stuffed to the brim, and you want him to eat it out of you like a starved caveman, but you also don’t want this to end.
You want to keep feeling him just like this, in every ounce of your body, consuming you whole, and loving you endlessly, emotionally, and physically.
He smiles against your heated skin. Again, he kisses your shoulder. His hand comes to rest around your throat, not squeezing but simply holding you.
“Lift your leg for me, sweetheart,” he commands.
You inhale sharply. How could you ever disobey him? You lift your leg as he told you to, and he grabs your thighs with his hand, throwing it over his own. You’re on your side, spread wide open for him—over him. His cock hits even deeper, even further than before, and you ask yourself if that is even possible. He’s just so fucking thick.
“There you go,” Matt purrs, his lips pressing to your ear. The sweat dripping down his temple mixes with yours and soaks into your skin. “Good girl.”
The good girl gets you. It gets you every time. Praise from him is like being praised by a higher entity. Your walls tighten in a vice grip.
He groans. The groan is so deep it makes his chest vibrate, and his hand tightens around your neck ever so slightly. It’s enough to make you gasp.
You cling to him. Your nails drag over the hairs on his forearm. The moan you let out sounds high-pitched and too far away to grasp, but he hears it. He hears it all.
And then Matt—that fucker—reaches his free hand between your legs and he cups your wet pussy. His cock still thrusting in and out of you scrambles the words in your brain and turns them into desperate mewls.
He curses when you clench down around him. “You take me so well,” he never fails a beat with the praise, knowing just when to use it to pull a response out of you.
You reach behind yourself to tangle your fingers in his hair. The strands are sweaty, sticking to his skin, and you wish you could see more than his stubble. You wish he would tilt his head down to kiss you. Instead, you have to press your lips to the skin of his neck, tracing your tongue over his pulse points and tugging at his hair. That is how you can taste him.
You are needy and desperate, and your body is the one thing in control. You couldn’t form a coherent thought even if you tried. It’s just him, his hands, and his cock; he consumes you, all of you, without mercy.
Your touch burns his fuses. He whimpers. You love it when he does that. When he sounds wrecked for you. Only for you. You are the only one that can make him feel this way.
His hand disappears from your cunt. “Open,” he instructs.
Out of instinct, you open your mouth. He slides the three fingers in the middle between your lips, pushing down on your tongue until you gag like you would on his cock.
“That’s it. Get them nice and wet for me so I can rub your clit.”
You moan, swirling your tongue around the digits. You suck on them. The saliva drips from the corner of your mouth, down his forearm.
“Gonna make you come, okay?” Matt pants. It turns him on just how messy he can get you, and every time anew, he sees how far he can go. He gives another harsh thrust, then adds, his voice still beyond breathless, “Make you come all over my cock.”
A strangled moan escapes him, and it is like porn to you.
When he finally kisses your cheek, you turn your head to meet his lips. As soon as you taste him and yourself on his tongue, you’re done for.
He cups your pussy again, this time rubbing all three fingers you just sucked over your sensitive clit. You howl. Your back arches away and at the same time into his touch–you’re going to burst soon, you know it.
As if he read your mind, he presses his fingers just below your jaw. The rhythm of his fingers on your clit matches the pounding of his cock, and he skilfully drags his thrusts along your G-spot.
You pull at his hair. “Matt. I’m gonna–” The words are too much to utter at this time.
“I know,” he coos. “I know, baby. I’ve got you.”
“Fuck!”
“Come for me.”
The coil snaps, sending a shockwave rippling through your entire body, and drowning you in ecstasy. Your thighs quiver and you shout his name like a prayer. You’re falling, and there seems to be no end in sight. No one to catch you.
You come long and hard, his thrusts faltering as you suck him in and clench with the sheer force of your orgasm. Instinctively, you pull your leg back to shut them and keep him trapped inside, but his hand stops you.
“Keep your legs open,” Matt says.
You cry out. With every thrust, with every flick of his finger over your already sensitive clit, he drives you deeper into a state of overstimulation.
“I want you to give me another one, baby. One more, and I’ll fill you up. Please.”
It doesn’t take long for you to be back on that edge. You intertwine your fingers with his on your throat. The perfect necklace.
Matt pulls out again. You tilt your hips back, forcing him back inside. “I’m gonna come,” you warn him.
It hasn’t even been two minutes since he last made you, but he knows just how to keep you on edge. That way, he can drag several orgasms out of you, each more intense than the other. He has made it his mission to ruin you for any other man.
When you come this time, Matt lets you snap your thighs shut as your entire body shakes in his arms. You cry out, bucking your hips, and clinging to his hand, but it isn’t enough.
He thrusts upward into you once more, and then he’s coming, too. His hot cum spurts into your cunt. For a moment, he stills completely.
Matt sinks his teeth into your bottom lip, the copper taste exploding on both of your tongues, but a little blood has never turned you off.
He fucks his cum into you, slowly, passionately, making sure that no drop goes to waste. Only when he’s satisfied does he stop, and he allows the two of you a moment to breathe.
Thump, thump, thump. Your heart begins to slow down.
“Holy shit, Matthew,” you murmur.
He chuckles, smoothing the spot where he dug his teeth into over with his tongue. “Good morning to you, too.”
“Oh, good morning, indeed.” A satisfied giggle passes your lips. “I think we just woke the neighbors.”
“What time is it?”
You peek at the alarm clock on the nightstand. “Half past ten,” you say.
“Then it’s not a disturbance of the peace,” he states as a matter of fact.
“It’s not?”
“Nah.” He pulls out, rolling over to pull you into his side. “A noise complaint would never hold up in court. Even if they filed one, I’m a really good lawyer,” he says, “and I will defend my wife’s pleasure until the day I die.”

“Do you wanna make the call or would you like me to do it?”
Turning to look at the robust and inked visage of your uncle, your face crinkled up slightly as you asked in a hesitant tone, “…would you mind doing it? Please?”
“Sure, hon,” Howard nodded before blinking down at his phone and dialling the number, “what kind? Margherita?”
“Yeah, and with some arugula on top, please,” you spoke as you squeezed by a tower of messy moving boxes to enter the open kitchen of your new apartment, “thank you!”
Hearing his footsteps carry him deeper into the new home, his voice soon rumbled, muffled behind your bedroom door. Opening up the cardboard box that half blocked off your empty fridge, you dug through it till you found a glass, swiftly straightening back up and filling it up with water.
“How are you doing, cupcake?” you heard the soft voice of Walter, your uncle’s husband, as you turned off the tab, “you gonna be okay tonight? Because if you don’t want to be alone, we can stay.”
“No, it’s alright, I think I’m okay,” you took a tiny sip before placing the tall glass down on the counter, “you both gotta get up early tomorrow to open the bakery anyways.”
“It’s never stopped us before. Do you remember when you were 11 and you watched that terrifying movie at some slumber party?” a smile twitched at the bald man’s lip from the memory, “I don’t think any of us slept for a whole week straight and the bakery still kept on running. If we could get through those sleepless nights of trying to convince you that our apartment wasn’t haunted, then we can get through this.”
Stepping up closer to him, you caught his hand in yours and said, “I think I’m gonna be okay, but thank you, Walter, really, for everything, for this, for letting me move back home and letting me stay there for over a year.”
“Hey,” he squeezed your palm and ushered you to meet his gaze, “you do not need to thank us for that. It’s–…” he dropped the heavy comment he nearly uttered and instead let out a low sigh, “we love you. It was the very least we could do.”
“I love you too,” you heard your voice threaten a tremble of vulnerability, “so much.”
As the bedroom door then swung back open, out stepped Howard with an exhale, “alright, the pizza is on its way. You gonna be okay here?”
“Yeah,” you offered him a nod before walking them out.
Peeking back at you over his shoulder as he swung his bright red scarf back on, Walter raised his brows tenderly, “promise that you’ll call us if anything happens, yeah?”
“Promise,” you breathed as you watched them creak open the front door and step out into the cold hallway, “love you, goodnight!”
“Goodnight, hon!” Howard waved over his shoulder at your visage in the doorway as the couple reached the stairs, “see you tomorrow! Try and get some rest, just head in whenever you get up.”
“Okay,” a soft smile warmed your features. Lately, or the past year actually, they’d let you cut down on your work quite a bit so that your hours at the bakery were significantly less and the only days you were to get up before the sun did was on weekends.
“Bye!” they both called out loudly as they disappeared from your view before your own echo rang throughout the hallway.
“Bye!”
You didn’t manage to unpack much, only half of your books, before the buzzer rang obnoxiously, causing your feet to scramble to let the delivery guy up.
Swiftly locating your backpack, you fished out your wallet just before a knock boomed at your door.
“That’ll be twenty bucks,” the pimply-faced pizza guy spoke in a monotone voice as soon as you opened up.
Catching the shadow of another figure ascend the staircase just before you began to dig through your wallet, his handsome and scruffy features were adorned with a pair of glasses that had a darkly crimson tint to them.
“Yep… uh… do you have change for a fifty?”
“Nope,” he impatiently blinked before loudly popping his bright blue bubblegum.
“Oh, alright…” you felt your palms begin to sweat, “do you mind just waiting here for a second? I might have some more cash in a jacket… somewhere…”
But just before you could duck back inside, the suit-clad man who had stopped to unlock the door directly opposite yours, whipped his own wallet out and handed off the needed bucks, “here.”
Satisfied, the pizza guy accepted the change and shoved the wide box into your arms before dashing off.
“Oh, you didn’t have to do that,” you blinked over at your generous, new neighbour, “I can pay you back–”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it,” he offered you a polite smile that sent a swarm of butterflies soaring within your belly, a sensation that you hadn’t felt in ages, “welcome to the building,” he added as he tugged his door open.
“Thanks,” you uttered, slightly windblown in your threshold as he disappeared into his apartment.
Tumblr media
Slipping into your sneakers and hastily fastening them with sloppy bows, you slugged your jacket on and grabbed your bag. As you exited your apartment, the neighbouring door opened just as you locked up your own.
“Oh, hi!” you squeaked over your shoulder as you turned the key, “good morning!”
Your breath got caught in your throat as you turned to face him fully, shoving your bundle of keys into your pocket. Did he look even better than you remembered? Now no longer obscured by the terrible excuses this hallway had for lighting, the frosted window to your right illuminated every detail of him that you’d missed the first time around.
“Morning,” he replied as he too locked his door behind him.
Waiting a moment before you began to move your feet, you eyed his polished attire, “are you off to work?”
“Yep,” he nodded and fished out a folded-up cane from the inner pocket of his jacket, “you?”
“Yeah,” you sucked in a breath, “I’m Y/n, by the way, forgot to introduce myself the other night.”
“Matthew,” the bespectacled man extended his hand out for you to shake, “nice to meet you.”
After ignoring the tingle his touch sent down your spine, the two of you began to descend the stairs.
“Thanks again for what you did with the–, oh! I should pay you back!” you reached into your deep coat pocket to locate your wallet, “I’m pretty sure I have–, how much was it?”
“You don’t have to, it’s fine, really,” he politely declined.
Reaching the bottom of the staircase, your brows flew up, “seriously?”
“Yeah,” he shrugged as he then held the front door open for you to get out onto the street first.
“Thank you, Matthew,” you slipped out, waiting a moment before you began to head off, “have a good day!”
“Yeah, you too,” he said, flicking out his cane to its full length, just before you both began to walk in the exact same direction.
“Oh, wait,” you slowed as a giggle bubbled out of your lungs, “you’re also heading this way?”
“Oh, uhm, yeah.”
“Do you–, uh… I can wait for a little bit and let you get a head start if you–”
“Or you can just walk with me, if you’d like,” he suggested with a gentle smile that made your brain forget for just a split second where your destination was in the first place, “it’s fine with me, I don’t mind the company.”
“Okay,” you agreed in a quiet voice, returning to a brisk pace beside him. You didn’t take too many strides before a casual question nervously fell from your lips, “so, have you lived here long?”
“In the apartment or Hell’s Kitchen?”
“Oh,” your heartbeat thrummed in your ears, “both, I guess.”
“I’ve been in the apartment for a while,” he told you, “but lived here in the neighbourhood pretty much all my life.”
“Yeah?” you smiled, maybe glancing over at him a bit too much for it to be safe as you walked, “that’s nice.”
“You?”
“Uhm, grew up in Brooklyn, moved here to live with my uncles when I was nine, after my parents passed.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” his low tone emanated an air of kinship.
“It’s alright. It was a long time ago, I was just a kid... anyways! Enough about me before I spill all of my childhood trauma to you,” you gracelessly changed the subject, “you are in a suit.”
“I–,” a faint laugh tumbled out past his lips before he joked, “I’d sure hope I am and didn’t accidentally change into something else.”
“No–, I mean, yes, obviously,” you felt heat begin to rise in your cheeks, “that was just a very weird and backwards way of asking what you do for a living.”
“Ah,” his dark brows lifted in comprehension.
“Let me guess…” you fiddled with your fingers as you thought, “accountant? No… politician? No… funeral director?”
“Funeral di–,” Matthew chuckled, “no.”
“Do you work on Wall Street? Oh, please tell me you don’t because here I was just starting to think you were super cool.”
“No, I don’t work on Wall Street, but good to know that you think I’m cool,” he smirked, making you regret letting that information slip, “I’m a lawyer.”
“A lawyer?” your eyes grew, “seriously?”
“Yep.”
“That’s–... that’s–… waow…” you uttered, completely dumbfounded by the imposing nature of his profession, “well, now I don’t wanna tell you what I do, because it’s so not as impressive.”
“Oh, come on,” he tilted his head, “now you have to tell me.”
“…I’m a baker,” you finally said, “actually,” stopping your stride, you briefly brushed his arm for him to do the same, “this is where I work, right here.”
“Really?”
“It’s called Buttercup Bakery,” you glanced up at the familiar storefront, “have you ever been in there?”
“No, never,” his head shook lightly as a small smile warmed up his features, “funny, my office is just a few minutes further down the street, I must have walked passed this place a thousand times but I never noticed it before.”
“Well, you know of its existence now…” you turned your head to gaze at his striking visage once more as he raised a hand to adjust his glasses, “do you wanna get a coffee or something? My treat, as thanks for the pizza.”
“I’d love to,” he sucked in a breath, “but I really have to get going.”
“Oh, yeah, of course,” you nodded lightly, “well, thanks for the walk, have a great day. Hope you win a bunch of cases and–, uh… I don’t know, help make the judicial system better,” you couldn’t help but physically cringed at your clumsy words.
But your new neighbour didn’t seem to mind as he just chuckled before wandering off, “bye, Y/n.”
The small bell above the glass door to the bakery chimed softly as you pushed it open. The interior was simple, both in colour and design, but had a rustic charm to it that gave it a sense of home. Behind the counter, and the mouth-watering baked goods lined up and displayed behind the clear glass, stood Walter. Facing the long shelves adorned with various loaves, he grabbed a crusty baguette and slid it into an appropriately long brown paper bag.
Handing it off to the little old lady on the other side, he said, “here you are. That’ll be four dollars,” before she placed the money on the counter beside his half-read newspaper and strolled passed you, out of the bakery, “have a good day!”
Leaning back down to return to his paper, Walter didn’t glance up at you as he greeted, “hi, honey! You wanna hear your horoscope for today?”
Tugging down the zipper of your jacket, you joked self-reflectively as you began to shed your layers, “does it say that I’ll miraculously turn into a charming and charismatic adult instead of whatever this is?”
“…uh… no,” he furrowed his brow and finally shot you a brief glance, “it says that you're energized and creative. This new moon initiates two weeks of growing work, health and strength. Put your heart into your actions. Practice makes perfect. Oh, and it also says right here that the spelt flour bin needs refilling and that there are about a billion cardamom buns that need to be shaped.”
“Oh, it says all of that, does it now?”
Tumblr media
Letting a tense breath go, you apprehensively let your fist meet the dark door in three shy knocks.
As soon as it swung open, the sentence, “do you like croissants?” sputtered out passed your lips.
Head reeling back slightly at the unforeseen and sudden question, Matt blinked, “what?”
“Do you like croissants?” you repeated as if it wasn’t strange to just blurt out something like that out of the blue.
“Uh,” a smile then crept up on his lips, “hello to you too, Y/n.”
“I mean, I’ve personally never met anyone who doesn’t care for them, but I’m sure they exist.”
“Sure, I like croissants.”
“Oh, great, wonderful!”
Leaning against his door, his head tilted as you failed to continue, “…did you just have a burning desire to know that fact about me?”
“Right, no, I–, uhm, there were a bunch leftover today that we didn’t sell, so purely just to not let any go to waste, I thought you’d like some,” you held up the crinkly paper bag for him to hear.
It had been a lie, but he didn’t have to know that you’d set some aside for him before they all sold out, just to have an excuse to talk to him again.
“Oh, thank you,” he held out his open palms, “that’s so nice of you.”
As you handed the bag off into his grasp, you felt as if your heart might beat straight out of your chest.
“…alright, well…” you stumbled slightly, “I should probably head off to bed. Weekends are always the busiest, so my shifts are usually really long and I have to get up like super early, so... goodnight then!”
And with that you awkwardly whirled around and scurried the short distance into your own apartment, only faintly catching his warm chuckle as you disappeared.
“Night.”

Matt slid his desk chair back with a sigh, relieved the frustrating work day had finally come to an end. Standing up, his hands felt around his desk for the mess of papers he’d had scattered along it. He gathered them up, neatly stacking them together before he stuffed them back into the folder they'd initially been inside. Bending over, his back muscles protesting the movement from his previous night out as Daredevil, he picked up his briefcase that was leaning against his desk on the floor. Placing the briefcase on top of his desk, he packed the folder inside before closing it up and tossing the strap of the bag over his head, taking a moment to position it comfortably along his shoulder.
Making his way around his desk afterwards, one of his hands absently grabbed his folded up cane from off of it as he headed towards the door of his office. He could already hear Karen and Foggy in the firm's main room, the pair of them clearly talking about wedding related things. As he stepped out of his office and into the room, he could feel the air shift minutely as both of them looked over in his direction.
“More wedding details, Fog?” Matt asked, walking over to where the pair were leaning against the front office desk.
“Did you know that absolutely everything is a detail?” Foggy complained. “Like napkins. Did you know napkins mattered? Because I didn't. They're literally meant to wipe your dirty face and hands on, why does it matter what they look like? Or what material it’s made out of? It's a napkin!”
“Don't let Marci hear you say that,” Karen teased.
Matt could hear the way her fingers were tapping away at the screen of her phone. Probably sending a text message from the sounds of it.
“I just want a break from all the wedding planning,” Foggy grumbled. “I feel like half our place is currently storage for some binder or seating chart or wedding magazine or stack of business cards and pamphlets.”
“Well you'll get a bit of a break from it this weekend,” Karen assured him, setting her phone onto the desk beside her. “When we go wedding dress shopping with Marci on Saturday. She'll be talking all our ears off about the details for the whole day instead of yours.”
Foggy let out a dreamy sigh at the thought. “And I'll be relaxing at home by myself thinking about literally anything else while all you lovely bridesmaids, who I'm sure are vastly more interested in color schemes and table decor, discuss all of that,” he replied.
At the mention of bridesmaids, Matt's mind immediately jumped to you. He hadn't seen you since the night he'd offered to walk you back to his place and let you sleep over after you'd had a little too much to drink at Josie’s. The same night you'd randomly kissed him and told him you'd had feelings for him–something that had come as a complete shock to Matt.
You had actively avoided him ever since then. Ignoring his phone calls and texts. Never returning a single voice-mail he'd left asking to talk to you about what had happened that night. You'd stopped meeting up with everyone at Josie’s, only spending time with Karen and Marci over the past couple of months. Foggy even only ever saw you whenever you'd stopped by to see Marci at their apartment when helping with the wedding planning.
Matt expected you to be embarrassed after the incident, especially because he could feel the way your body had reacted before you'd sprinted out of his apartment and back into the rain outside. He'd felt bad, wondering if he'd really done something wrong that night to accidentally lead you on. He hadn’t meant to, he’d just wanted to make sure you were alright. You’d seemed off all night to him, but you had no idea about his heightened senses, so it wasn’t as if he could ask you why your body was all over the place that night. It had been confusing, and the amount of beers you’d drank certainly hadn’t helped him get a read on you, either.
He thought he’d been doing the right thing that night. The fling with that woman wasn’t worth risking you walking home in the rain drunk–which he’d overheard you talking to yourself about doing. He hadn’t wanted to risk something happening to you, because Matt damn well knew what could happen to drunk women walking home alone at night in Hell’s Kitchen. He’d certainly rescued a few himself. But somehow you must’ve misread the entire situation and thought he’d been after more than that. Which was absurd because you’d always just been a great friend to him since he’d met you. A really close friend who he’d been sorely missing lately.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Matt said your name aloud, catching the attention of both Karen and Foggy. “Is she…going to be there this weekend, too?” he asked, trying to sound casual.
“Yeah, she’s one of the bridesmaids,” Karen answered. “So of course she’ll be there on Saturday.”
“I’m guessing she’s still not talking to you then, huh buddy?” Foggy asked him.
Matt sighed, shaking his head. He’d hated the silence from you and he had no idea how to fix things.
“No,” he replied. “She’s still very much ignoring me.”
“I don’t exactly blame her,” Karen cut in. “The whole situation sounded incredibly embarrassing and awkward when you told us why she was avoiding you. Especially considering how quiet she naturally is. For her to just kiss you and then to be rejected by you right after?”
“Ouch,” Foggy muttered. “Yeah, she’s probably never speaking to you again, man. Sorry.”
Matt ran a hand across his mouth, his shoulders sagging in defeat. The thought of never spending time with you ever again physically hurt. He’d never again hear another one of your ridiculous jokes or have another surprise drop-in lunch visit at the office from you. You always somehow remembered his favorite sandwich from his favorite sandwich shop, too. He’d always thought it was sweet that you’d made a mental note of his particular order, considering you had no idea how delicate his palate was with his heightened senses. Though he supposed now knowing that you’d had feelings for him all along had that attention to detail making more sense.
Standing in the office, an uncomfortable feeling twisted his stomach into knots, his heart squirming in his chest as the realization that you might really be gone from his life fully hit him. He didn’t like it one bit.
“You okay, Matt?” Foggy asked him. “You sort of look like you’re going to be sick.”
Slowly, Matt shook his head. “I just wish I could fix things,” he confessed. “I wish she’d just talk to me again. I don't like this weirdness between us.”
He heard the way the air shifted in the room again. As if both Karen and Foggy had looked at each other. Matt’s eyes narrowed curiously behind his glasses, his head tilting to the side. Both of their heart rates had slightly elevated at almost the exact same moment when they’d done that.
Why?
“So uh, you really miss her, huh?” Foggy asked.
“Of course,” Matt answered easily. “She’s one of my best friends.”
“Yeah?” Karen questioned.
Matt’s head canted curiously to the side at the odd tone in her voice. What were they getting at?
“Yeah,” Matt reiterated. “She’s been an important person in my life ever since the pair of you introduced us a while back. We always got along so well, and she always had such witty things to say. I miss talking to her. Josie’s just doesn’t feel the same without her anymore.” He ran a hand through his hair in growing aggravation. “I hate that I can’t just call her and hear her voice whenever I want anymore. And that she never randomly stops into the office just to say ‘hi.’. It–it hurts that she’s just gone now.”
The air shifted again as Karen and Foggy clearly exchanged a look with each other. Frustration began to fill Matt at whatever it was they weren’t saying.
“What?” Matt snapped. “You both keep looking at each other, I can feel it. What’s that about?”
Foggy cleared his throat, his attention returning to Matt. “It’s just…are you sure you just miss your friend?” he asked carefully.
Matt pulled a face at the ridiculous question. “What? Of course I do,” he shot back.
“No,” Karen said, shaking her head. “He means, are you sure you miss her because she’s just a friend to you?”
“Yes, that’s what I’ve been trying to–”
Matt abruptly stopped short, his mouth hanging open for a second as Karen’s words suddenly registered in his mind. Lips pressing together seconds later, Matt’s hands landed on his hips as he shifted his weight on his feet.
“What’re you trying to say?” Matt asked the pair. “That you think I like her? As more than a friend?”
“Well, buddy,” Foggy began carefully, “you’ve been acting pretty moody lately. Ever since she stopped talking to you. And you haven’t been as interested in the ladies, either. We’ve both noticed you turning them down. I don’t think you’ve brought a single person back to your place since that night.”
Matt scoffed, shaking his head. “So? I just haven’t been interested in that exactly,” he replied stiffly. “That doesn’t have anything to do with her.”
“You perk up at her name every time she’s mentioned,” Karen added. “And for the past couple of months you always find some way to randomly ask how she’s doing or what she’s been up to.”
“And when we told you she’d gotten onto that dating app,” Foggy chimed in, “you were in a horrible mood the whole day afterwards. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so grumpy for no reason to quite that extent before. I mean,” he continued with a chuckle, “that was like a Matt Murdock record level of moody. And there was no reason for it that day except for, well, that .”
Matt licked his lips, his fingers digging into his hips through his dress clothes. He’d just been worried about the jerks you might meet on that site, that was all. And he’d been jealous that you were still talking to Foggy, Karen, and Marci but not him. That had been all it was.
Right?
Karen leaned up against the side of the desk, her arms crossing over her chest as she focused on Matt. He bristled under the attention, feeling like he was suddenly on the stand and she was about to interrogate him.
“Let me ask you something,” she began, “and I want you to be honest and really think. How’d you feel when she kissed you that night?”
Matt frowned in her direction. “I told you, it’d been a shock,” he answered. “I hadn’t anticipated her to do that. Then I was worried I’d given her the wrong impression and I felt horrible that I’d upset her.”
Karen was roughly shaking her head at him. “No, how did it make you feel Matt?” she asked again.
“I mean I–” he stopped short again, his mouth closing almost immediately.
In all honesty, with everything that had happened that night, he hadn’t really thought about that. He’d been afraid of you thinking he was trying to take advantage of you when you were drunk, something he’d never do. And then he’d been upset and worried about you running out of his place crying and trying to make it home that night. He couldn’t even follow after you because it wouldn’t make sense that a blind man could navigate his way down the stairwell after you like he knew he’d be able to. And he was certain if he’d called your name down in the lobby–because he shouldn't have been able to know you by the sound of your heartbeat and scent of your perfume–you’d only run out of the building and ignore him. Chasing after you hadn't been an option.
But he had wanted to. Something he hadn’t even thought about after the fact because he’d been so upset at you ignoring his calls and messages. All he'd been focused on was how much it hurt that he'd lost such a great friend. He hadn't really stopped to think about how he had wanted to follow you or how that surprise kiss had made him feel.
Had he enjoyed it? It had been timid and hesitant, only a brief kiss, but it hadn't been horrible. He'd just…never thought about you like that before. Because you weren't the kind of woman who blatantly threw yourself at him, the type he'd bring back to his apartment for a fuck and then be content to never see again.
You definitely deserved more than that.
You were the type someone brought home to meet their parents, the type a guy planned dates for, wanted to spend holidays with. You were the long term, committed relationship type of woman. The type Matt avoided because the thought of something serious scared him, especially with how he spent most of his evenings.
But he missed you. He missed the scent of your perfume you always wore, the smell sometimes even lingering on his clothes when he'd return home from Josie’s. He missed the way you'd try to fill awkward silences whenever you were with him, always saying whatever random thing was on your mind. He missed the way your heart usually jumped whenever you first spotted him–because he'd always known you were attracted to him but he'd never thought more of it than that. He missed the sound of your voice after a difficult day at work, on days like today.
“Well?” Karen prompted, breaking through his thoughts.
“I uh,” he began, pausing to clear his throat, “I guess I never really thought about her like that before. I've always avoided anything possibly serious, and I've always tried to keep her at a distance because she didn't know about Daredevil. So I never really gave it much thought. Especially since she'd always just been there before. But now that she's not…” Matt trailed off, aware of the strange and unfamiliar feeling growing in his chest. “I guess I miss her more than I think I even realized,” he finished softly.
“So wait, let me get this straight,” Foggy began, excitedly waving his hands in front of himself. “You're just now realizing that maybe you really do like her? Like for real? As more than just a good friend?”
A small smile slid across Matt's lips as he thought of the sound of your laughter and how he wished he could hear it tonight after the shit day he’d had. His hands dropped from his hips, that stupid smile growing a little at the thought of you. “I suppose I am,” he admitted.
Foggy pushed off the desk and crossed the few steps over towards Matt. Both of his hands flew forward, grabbing Matt's shoulders in a tight grip and lightly shaking him. Back by the desk, Karen tried to hide her laugh behind a hand.
“Then dammit, Murdock,” Foggy ordered, “Go tell her that!”
The smile grew wider on Matt's face, an idea forming in his mind already. If you weren't going to answer your phone, he'd find a way to make sure you couldn’t ignore him.
Tumblr media
Straightening up your kitchen now that you'd finished with dinner, you paused what you were doing when you heard your phone alert you to a notification. Turning around, you picked it up from where it had been sitting on the counter, curious to what the notification was about.
Unlocking your phone, you noticed you'd received another message on the dating app you'd downloaded weeks ago. Leaning your back against the nearby counter, a smile drew itself across your lips. It was the first message you'd gotten this week and the sight immediately lifted your mood. The prospect of someone possibly being interested in you had your stomach excitedly jumping up into your chest.
You opened the message, beginning to excitedly read it over. Though the more you read, the faster your smile shifted into a frown. It was yet another sleazy sounding guy clearly trying to talk himself up in a way that sounded both fabricated and disrespectful. You cringed at the things he’d said about your photos–things he clearly thought were meant to be compliments but were vastly inappropriate and made you feel uncomfortable instead of flattered. Reaching the end of the brief message, you were shaking your head and closing out of the app before setting your phone back onto the counter with a roll of your eyes. It wasn't even worth your time responding back to the guy after a few of the things you'd read because he absolutely wasn't a match and you had no interest in ever meeting him.
With a sigh you made your way towards your fridge, your mind now focused on that unopened bottle of wine in there. It looked like you'd be having another night in with yourself tonight. But just as you'd opened the door to your fridge, your hand about to reach in and grab the bottle of red wine, there was a knock at your apartment door.
You paused, half-bent in front of your fridge as your eyebrows drew together in confusion at the interruption. Assuming it might’ve been Karen or Marci stopping by to go over something for wedding dress shopping which was planned for Saturday, you gradually stood back up and closed the fridge door. You figured that bottle of wine could wait a few more minutes.
Making your way out of your kitchen, you cut through your living room and over towards your door. Unlocking it, you pulled the door wide open without even glancing through the peephole first. Expecting to see either blonde woman standing there, you were stunned to instead find Matt standing in your hallway with a small smile on his lips.
Your heart lurched its way into your throat at the sight of him, your lips parting in surprise. Hand tightening around the handle of your door in a death grip, you fought your initial urge to just slam it in his face. What the hell was he doing here? Matt was the absolute last person you wanted to see standing at your door after your last interaction with him. It had been a few weeks since that nightmare of a night where you'd drunkenly kissed him and you still became insanely embarrassed at the memory of it. You certainly had no interest in talking to him about it further. You'd already apologized for just kissing him like you'd done, now all you wanted to do was never speak to him again. You figured he had to have gotten the hint already with how you’d been ignoring him.
So why was he suddenly at your apartment?
He said your name, that smile still on his mouth as he held up his right hand. Your face twisted into a look of confusion at the sight of a bouquet of beautiful flowers you hadn’t initially noticed he’d been holding.
“Can I take you to dinner this Sunday night?” he asked.
Teeth gritting down hard together, your eyes narrowed back at him as anger quickly ignited within your gut. You immediately remembered drunkenly confessing to him that you couldn’t remember the last time a guy had brought you flowers or asked you on a date. Now here he was doing both after he’d just very obviously and clearly rejected you. Did he think this was some way to break the ice between you both after what had happened? Some sort of way to turn everything into a joke?
“Do you think that's funny?” you asked sharply. “Making fun of me like this? As if I don’t feel like an absolute dumbass already, now you come here rubbing it in my face? You don’t like me like that, I got the message loud and clear already, Matthew. I don’t remotely find this funny.”
Matt's expression quickly morphed into one of shock and surprise at your reaction. He shook his head quickly, a crease forming between his dark brows.
“No, that’s–that’s not what I’m doing at all!” he exclaimed earnestly. “I guess I shouldn’t have led with that. Can I just come in and talk to you? Explain everything? Please?”
You were about to tell him no, wanting to hide your hurt, disappointment, and embarrassment behind a wall of anger instead of crying over Matt yet again, especially in front of him once more, but the solemn and desperate look on his face gave you pause. Matt and you had your jokes, but even this would’ve been a bit ridiculous for him to have planned out as a way to smooth things over between the pair of you after what had happened. He’d never seemed callous like that in the past. But the only other thing that would make sense was him actually coming here to ask you on a real date. Which also seemed equally absurd since almost seven weeks ago he’d already told you that you were just a friend.
“I swear if you let me explain, this will seem far less confusing,” he assured you. “Just–just give me five minutes?”
With an irritated sigh, you stepped away from the door. “Fine,” you relented. “Five minutes, Matt.”
An almost nervous smile spread across his lips as he made his way through the doorway and into your apartment. You closed the door behind him, your body a confusing mix of emotions that you were struggling to make sense of right now. You were upset about seeing him again after that embarrassing moment, your anger quickly giving way to discomfort. It didn't help that the tiniest spark of hope had reappeared in your chest at the prospect of him truly being here to ask you out on a date, but you immediately reminded yourself of what happened the last time you’d stupidly thought there was a chance Matt had feelings for you. You didn’t want to wind up misreading things with him a second time.
Turning back towards him, you were met with the bouquet of flowers in his extended hand. It was a stunning mixture of dahlias and greenery that couldn't have been cheap now that you were really looking at it.
“Dahlias are your favorite, if I’m not mistaken,” he said softly. “I remembered you mentioning that before at Josie’s when Marci had been talking about flowers for the wedding.”
Eyes darting up from the bouquet in his hands, they landed on his face. He still looked nervous and you weren’t entirely sure what to make of that. Matthew Murdock never outwardly got nervous. You also weren’t sure what to make of him remembering your favorite flower months after you’d brought it up around him just once.
Not knowing how to really respond, the confusing mix of emotions in your body only growing, you hesitantly reached a hand out and accepted the flowers. “Thank you,” you murmured.
In an attempt to keep your hands busy, and because you weren’t remotely interested in being the one to lead the conversation, you made your way back into your kitchen. You were aware of Matt following after you as you searched for the lone vase in one of your kitchen cabinets. Eventually you found it and began to fill it with water, impatient for Matt to say something as you kept your back to him.
“About that night,” Matt began cautiously, “when I’d invited you to stay over and you kissed me?”
Turning off the kitchen faucet, your eyelids slowly lowered. Your body tensed, bracing yourself for whatever was coming next. Keeping your back to him, you knew you couldn’t bear to look at him right now with whatever he was about to say. The jumbled, drunken memory of that evening came flooding back to you and you were immediately hit with a wave of embarrassment, tears stinging at your eyes behind closed lids. You remained silent though, waiting for him to continue.
“I hadn’t anticipated that, if I’m being honest,” he finally continued, still speaking in a measured tone. “My intention had been to make sure you made it somewhere safe that evening because I knew you’d drank a bit more than usual. I couldn’t stand the thought of you walking home alone drunk at night in the rain. So I’m sorry if I was giving off signals to you that were other than that at the time because they weren’t intentional.” He paused, clearing his throat lightly. “And it–it wasn’t exactly until this afternoon that I realized maybe some of them were subconscious because I hadn’t quite realized what I actually felt until today.”
Your hands tightened around both the vase and the bouquet of flowers as you held your breath. That flicker of hope had grown just marginally in your chest without your permission, and now it was teetering on the edge of growing larger or diminishing itself entirely. You felt like you couldn’t take another breath as you waited for him to clarify what he meant.
“It’s been weeks since we’ve talked,” Matt said, pain in his voice. “Weeks since you’ve come to Josie’s or stopped by the office. Or answered one of my phone calls. And everyday has just felt off because of it. Because I miss you. And I thought for the longest time it was just because I was missing one of my best friends, but then Karen and Foggy apparently caught onto something that I hadn’t even noticed in myself.”
With shaking hands, you opened your eyes and slipped the bouquet of flowers into the filled vase. Nervously you turned around, reaching your hand out to set them onto the counter next to you before your gaze finally landed back on Matt. He was standing at the other end of your small kitchen now, and it was almost as if he knew your eyes were on him as a gentle smile began pulling up the corners of his lips.
“If we’re being honest,” Matt confessed, “I’ve always tried to avoid relationships. I haven’t had the best of luck with them, and well, there are things someone actually dating me would need to be made aware of–something I generally don’t open up about. But I think I’d be ready to discuss that with you after dinner Sunday night if you’d let me take you out.”
He paused, shifting his weight back and forth on his feet as he gripped his cane tighter between both of his hands. Briefly you wondered what things he meant, but he was speaking again before you’d had long to contemplate that comment.
“The truth is, I didn’t truly realize what you meant to me until you were no longer a constant in my life,” Matt admitted. “And I can’t stand not having you around. Not just because you’re my friend, but because I have feelings for you, too. Feelings that are more than friendly that I’d like to explore further if you’d still be willing to as well.”
Heart skipping a beat entirely in your chest, you exhaled a quivering breath at the admission. Matt liked you. You . He’d really come here to bring you flowers and to ask you on a date, not to mock you or make light of your currently sad and lacking situation of a love life. You heard him let out a nervous laugh as your mind continued to race at everything he was saying.
“I uh, really wish you’d say absolutely anything right now,” he continued, “because your silence is scaring the hell out of me. I can’t tell if you’re still mad or just trying to process everything.”
Swallowing hard, you tried to find the words to express how you were feeling. You could barely understand your own mind right now after he’d dropped all that on you. You'd gone so long never believing he'd be interested in you like that, and then after what had happened weeks ago when he'd blatantly rejected you, you really figured you'd never be anything more to him. But now here he was telling you the opposite and you could hardly believe it.
“I’m still sort of processing,” you replied, voice just above a whisper. “I wasn’t exactly expecting to hear you ever say any of that. Certainly hadn’t been expecting to hear any of this tonight.”
A sheepish smile tugged at his lips just before he hung his head, nodding lightly. “Yeah, it sort of surprised me earlier, too,” he told you. “I’m shocked I wasn’t quite as aware of my own feelings as Karen and Foggy seemed to be, but uh…that probably has a little something to do with some other things going on in my life.”
Chewing your lip nervously, you continued to take in the sight of him standing across from you in your kitchen. He was still dressed in his dress clothes from work, clearly having finished late and having come straight here to see you afterwards. The nerves in your stomach gradually intensified as you took in the smile on his handsome face that you could somewhat make out despite the way he’d ducked his head. Seconds later his covered gaze rose up, falling back on you. You only gnawed on your bottom lip faster, something electric feeling like it was sparking between you both in the small space all the sudden. A feeling that hadn’t been there seconds ago.
“So I suppose now I’m curious to know if you’d let me take you to dinner Sunday night, since I know you’ve got plans for Saturday?” Matt asked hopefully. “Would that…be something you’d like?”
“Yes,” you whispered, nodding immediately.
Matt took a few steps forward, the smile that had been lighting up his face growing warmer. His hands reached up, removing the glasses from his face before he slipped them into the inside pocket of his suit coat as he continued to make his way towards you. You leaned further back into the counter behind you, your hands landing on either side of the countertop as you tried to steady yourself. You weren’t entirely sure what he was doing, but there was a glint in his eye that had your breath coming in sharper than usual.
“And in that case,” Matt continued, his voice dropping a few octaves to something sultry and soft, the sound increasing your pulse as he continued to close the gap between you both, “would it be alright if we had a redo of our first kiss? This time with both of us sober and actually anticipating it?”
Breath still coming in shallow, it was difficult for your brain to send the signal to your mouth to actually formulate a sentence. You’d managed a quiet noise in response as he came to a stop just in front of you, his body mere inches from yours as he set his cane to the side. You could practically feel something sparking between the pair of you as he just stood there, his eyes focused along your chin. His head tilted to the side as if in silent question when you hadn’t given him a verbal confirmation.
“I–yes,” you finally answered.
He leaned in, moving so painfully slow as he came to rest his forehead against yours. His hand was suddenly on your neck, delicately gliding his fingertips upwards until the palm of his hand cupped your cheek, cradling it in his warm hand. His thumb rested just beneath your jaw, somehow knowingly tilting your mouth up further towards his at just the right angle. You felt lightheaded beneath his touch and the close proximity, your body involuntarily sinking forward into his when the tip of his nose just barely brushed against yours.
Matt shifted just the slightest bit before you felt his lips finally land on yours. Your eyelids immediately fluttered shut, a faint sigh sneaking out of your throat at how soft his lips were–softer than you recalled them. With the way he carefully began to move them against yours, you felt your knees going weak. Hands releasing the grip you had on the countertop, they darted forward and grabbed fistfuls of his dress shirt, just beneath his suit coat.
As you held onto him like a lifeline, his mouth pressed more firmly against yours. Fingers curling into his dress shirt, you pulled him roughly into your body. He stumbled forward into you, a rumbling growl coming from his chest in response. The delicious weight of him against the front of you only pressed you farther into the counter behind you as his other hand landed on your hip, gripping it tight.
It wasn't until a few minutes later that Matt gently broke away, his own breath heavy as he rested his forehead back to yours. Your tongue darted out, licking your damp lips as you tried to catch your breath. You could still taste him on you, the realization causing you to actively have to stop yourself from leaning forward and kissing him again.
“Well there's–there's certainly something there,” Matt said with a breathy laugh. “But uh, maybe we should leave things there until after Sunday night?”
You nodded, though it was hard to fully agree when his hips were still pressing you back into your kitchen counter and his mouth was mere inches from yours. Especially knowing how damn good of a kisser he was now, you wondered what else he did well.
“Right,” you breathed out.
He shifted against you, burying his face against the crook of your neck as he wrapped his arms around you. You couldn't fight the smile on your face at how he clearly didn't want to pull away from you, instead getting closer to you. You'd never seen him this affectionate with anyone else before.
“I missed you,” he murmured against your neck.
Tentatively your hands released their grip on his shirt, your own arms snaking their way around his waist and drawing him closer. You came to rest your forehead against his shoulder, eyes closing as you relaxed into him.
“I missed you, too,” you admitted. “And I'm sorry for getting drunk and kissing you like an idiot and then ignoring you for weeks.”
“Well, I admit it wasn't great being ignored by you,” he said, his lips tickling you as he spoke. “But at the same time, if you hadn't done either of those, I might never have realized how I felt about the woman who'd always been right in front of me the whole time.”
Your smile grew, your arms holding him a bit tighter. “I suppose that makes me feel a little less embarrassed, then.”
Matt nuzzled his face further into your neck, the bit of stubble on his cheeks pleasantly tickling you. You couldn't fight the giggle that slipped out of you in response. Seconds later you swore you felt his mouth pulling into a smile against your skin.
“So Sunday night,” Matt began slowly, “if I show up with flowers for you again, you're not going to yell at me, are you?”
You couldn’t resist the laugh that fell out of you. Burying your face further against his shoulder in slight embarrassment, you replied, “No, I'm definitely not going to yell at you for bringing me flowers again.”
“Good,” he said, amusement in his tone. “Because that was admittedly a terrifying experience.”
The pair of you fell into a fit of laughter in your kitchen, arms still wrapped around each other as you did. As the pleasant sound filled your apartment, the pair of you holding onto each other tightly like neither wanted to be the first to let the other go, you couldn't help but think about what a turn everything had taken all because you'd drunkenly misread a situation and kissed your friend.
