What happens during an abortion
Piggy and I ain’t doctors. (I did own a white coat once, which was a mistake. Impossible to keep clean.) Thankfully this medical topic is straightforward enough that even top-shelf dumbasses like us can explain it.
During the first trimester of a pregnancy, an abortion procedure is very simple. At this stage they’re called medical abortions or a pill abortion.
The first pill is mifepristone. When pregnant, your body relies on a hormone called progesterone to prepare itself for pregnancy. Mifepristone hits the “mute” button on that hormone for a lil’ bit.
About forty-eight hours after you take it, you’ll take a second pill containing misoprostol. And it’ll basically give you uterine contractions exactly like your period. You’ll have cramps and bleeding as usual, but possibly heavier.
If you have more questions about what the experience itself feels like, here are some more resources.

Warnings
Piggy and I can’t afford lawyers. (We can’t afford quilted toilet paper.) But if we did, we imagine they’d make us say shit like this:
Medication is serious business. Always take it as directed by a doctor.
Don’t take new medications alone. You need someone with you to make sure you’re not having any serious adverse reactions.
Never, ever try to injure yourself, poison yourself, or self-medicate with weird shit to induce an abortion. First of all, it won’t work. (If Moon Tea worked, every civilization in the last five thousand years of human history would’ve been guzzling that shit by the gallon.) Secondly, it’s incredibly dangerous. You could kill yourself, seriously injure yourself, or make yourself puke. And quite a lot of things in-between.
Obey your parents, partners, state and federal laws, and patriarchal gods, no matter how cruel, abusive, illogical, and imaginary they may be. Definitely don’t share this article widely and spread this information around if you think it might help people who need abortions get abortions!

A federal judge in Texas blocked the FDA's approval of mifepristone. Another in Washington state issued a conflicting ruling. The matter now seems poised to head for the Supreme Court.

14 states have already banned abortion, and more restrictions are on the way. Here are a few of the latest GOP proposals:
⚫ A 12-week abortion ban in Nebraska
⚫ A 6-week ban (because GOP attempts at a full ban failed three times) in South Carolina
⚫ A bill that charges abortion patients with MURDER in Alabama
We HAVE to fight back.
Our state-level mobilizations *are working.* We helped elect a pro-choice state Supreme Court justice in WI and brought national attention to the abortion pill case that started in TX. But we CANNOT stop now.
TY! -Women's March
SIGN ON: TELL THE COURTS TO STAY OUT OF FDA APPROVAL OF ABORTION MEDICATION Medication abortion is safe and effective, and it should be readily available everywhere. Add your name right now to DEMAND the courts stay out of FDA approvals >>>
SIGN ON: TELL THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM TO STAY OUT OF FOOD & DRUG ADMINISTRATION APPROVALS! A Trump-appointed judge may strike down the FDA’s approval of a critical abortion medication later this month. The ruling would set a dangerous precedent that radical right-wingers can challenge the approval of ANY medication they don’t approve of — like the birth control pill or emergency contraception (aka Plan B). We need you to take action to tell the courts to stay OUT of FDA approvals!
ATTN: SOUTH CAROLINA LEGISLATIVE REPUBLICANS Check out our letter to the South Carolina GOP below, then sign it as is or add your own spin:
Make your voice heard
As you well know, abortion bans will not end abortion. Instead, you propose penalties so extreme – so draconian – that they will terrify women into compliance. Your goal was never to “protect life.” It is to control our bodies. You should know: We won’t go back. We’ll fight back. I’m signing this letter to voice my ongoing commitment to opposing any rollback of our human right to reproductive freedom.
ATTN: RON DESANTIS, FLORIDA REPUBLICANS, & THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION Sign our open letter condemning the Don’t Say Gay law in Florida! Make your voice heard The cruel “Don’t Say Gay” law is harming Florida students, teachers, and families. Instead of expanding it, you should be repealing this attack on LGBTQ+ Floridians! Despite your fear and hate-mongering, LGBTQ+ people — including kids — always have existed and always will. We will keep fighting for them to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. We know that more of us are in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community than agree with your regressive and cruel legislation. Women’s Marchers and our allies WON’T stop fighting for a world where all of us can be safe as our authentic selves. We WON’T let your hateful legislation stop us from supporting LGBTQ+ Floridians, and we condemn the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
ADD YOUR NAME TO OUR DEMANDS TO PROTECT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE ACCESS! We demand reform of our broken judicial system. We demand that state and local leaders defend access to mifepristone despite this illegitimate ruling. We demand the FDA issue guidance to disregard the decision. We demand the Biden administration implement a whole-of-government response to this public health crisis. We demand pharmacies execute their mandate faithfully and with the health of their patients rather than the personal ideologies of a few politicians in mind. Sign on to sponsor our demands >>>
REMOVE CLARENCE THOMAS FROM THE SUPREME COURT Congress must impeach Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas now! Justice Clarence Thomas has violated his oath and broken the law by failing to disclose decades of luxury vacations and private jet travel from billionaire and GOP megadonor Harlan Crow. Crow also paid the private school tuition for a Thomas family member. Sign our petition, stating loud and clear: No one is above the law, and Justice Thomas must be held accountable and removed from his position of power.

If you live in a state where abortion is illegal and you need one, go to this website. I ordered pills for a medical abortion here just in case. They were delivered quickly and the whole process was very professional.

ABORTION PILLS | First Trimester Medical Abortion
A medical (or chemical) abortion is a non-surgical form of abortion in which the woman takes pills containing Mifepristone (RU-486) and Misoprostol (or Cytotec) to end the life of the baby. This procedure is performed during the first trimester of pregnancy. The drugs are approved by the FDA for use up to ten weeks since the first day of her last menstrual period (LMP).

The hopes we let die
“A-Yao,” says Qin Su, and Jin Guangyao freezes. The small alpha looks like she’s been crying.
“A-Su! What happened? Are you alright?”
“A-Yao, we can’t. We can’t get married,” says Qin Su.
“What do you mean?” he asks, horrified. “We’ve already – did my father say something? But you…” Jin Guangyao isn’t stupid, he knows better than most how fickle alphas could sometimes be, but Qin Su had… she had seemed to genuinely love him. And he loves her.
(At least he hadn’t told her that he had gotten pregnant, from their time together. He could end the pregnancy, and no one ever had to know.)
Or: In an A/B/O universe where Meng Yao is an Omega, he's the one who ends up pregnant, and Qin Su is too good to actually marry him knowing what she does. This will save them all.

People who thought they'd never get an abortion, sometimes have to, and I'm one of them.
In October of 2021, I was so excited to get a positive pregnancy test, I had two perfect little boys and I couldn't wait for our family to grow by another little person.
But then, I started to feel different, different from my "normal" pregnancies, I started to have spotting, and localized cramping. I called my OB and began 2 agonizing weeks of blood tests every 72hrs. My betaHcG (the pregnancy hormone) wasn't going up the way it should, they told me it might be a chemical pregnancy, a false positive test, a pregnancy that didn't "stick."
Then my tests started to say something different. I went in for a transvaginal ultrasound (not the most comfortable exam) at 10:30am, only 6.5wks into my pregnancy, and there it was, my little zygote, but not where they belong, snug and secure in my uterus, no, they had lodged themselves in my right fallopian tube. And so began one of the longest days of my life.
Right after the ultrasound, I was put in my OB's office as she started to explain that my pregnancy was not viable and I would have to get a medication called Methotrexate to stop the pregnancy from growing. Growing and possibly causing my fallopian tube to burst. How I was lucky that they caught it early, and I only had to get the shots, and not have surgery. Lucky.
Then I got to wait, it was noon and my appointment in the Chemo Clinic wasn't until 1. I didn't have time to go home for lunch, so I just sat, sat and waited for the medicine that would remove my baby that never was, from the incorrect place they decided to grow.
Up to the clinic I went, for more waiting. The nurse gave me a ginger ale after she realized I hadn't eaten since breakfast, sadly nothing gluten free in the Chemo Clinic. When they brought over the needles I finally started to cry, this was it, my pregnancy was over. I had gotten something I never thought I would, a medical abortion.
Afterwards, they just sent me home, "you'll be fatigued for a couple of days, be sure to take it easy." "Fatigued" doesn't begin to cover how I felt that week. I was heartbroken and was so tired I could barely get downstairs.
Then came another round of blood tests twice a week, to be sure my betaHcG had returned to 0, no longer pregnant. Finally on the second week of December it did, I was no longer pregnant.
Before you say something ignorant like "oh why didn't you move the pregnancy to the right place" if I could do that, I would be due in two months rather than six months.
I will always be pro-choice, and even if you think you'd never get an abortion, sometimes the universe has other plans.
