Ayan's Evening Of Unrest: Witnessing Chaos In The Kashmir Valley
story on kashmir, as they pluck petals from beautiful rose and rest stem is left. read :)
It was just like any other evening, must have been six o’clock, and the sky was red during the sunset. Ayan was watching this changing time standing on the balcony of his house. While observing, he felt like going out for a walk or cycling around the city. So, he took permission from his mother to go outside and then got out on a bicycle. Halfway through his way, he turned towards the city. As…

Just a reminder if you're writing a story of POC characters, especially native american characters, depicting us takes time and respect.
If they're in a modern environment, dont make them "normal" like white people are "normal".
Our cultures are very much alive and connected to us. It may be easy to give the characters long hair and a scene eating frybread, but tossing our culture when its not convenient isnt an option.
For example, the fanart and fanfic of Pavitr, aka spider India, whitewashed the hell out of him for convenience. Many ignored his connection to his culture in favor of a (colorist) feminine depiction of him in white centered beauty.
You need to understand how our cultures influence our way of life, and what culture you're representing.
It's not copy and pase from chad or Elizabeth, because our foundational upbringing shapes who we become. Please consider our cultures when writing poc and native characters.

i think Miles x Pavitr is cute but i dont really like the idea of Hobie and Miles being a romantic couple cause they feel more like siblings to me but the ship/duo name is cute af (its Punkflower btw)

there's a post going around saying that jewish people would be considered settlers (perjorative) anywhere they went that's annoying me because it fundamentally misunderstands what settler colonialism is. Moving somewhere and joining an existing community isn't being destructive, and those who claim it is are xenophobes and racists, and historically have been being antisemitic when saying this to jewish peoples in various countries! On the other hand zionists creating settlements on the west bank and telling palestians who are Also indigenous to the land that they have to leave on pain of death (or just killing them up front) is a totally different situation. It's just not true that it's impossible to go anywhere without displacing people. I think that recognizing that jewish ppl have been and are frequently targeted by xenophobia can be really clearly separated from the criticisms being made of Israel and zionist ideology.

"this is a witch hunt" say the men threatened of being asked accountability for their predatory behavior, when History shows that witch hunt were for the most part targeting (destitute) women
"pregnancy is slavery" say the White women who participated in using Black female slave body to nurse their own children
"there's a Great Replacement" say the White Nations which are actually the only ones that invaded and replaced the native populations of the (many) place they invaded
remember friends: never let oppressors twist & shift the narrative.

Lesser Flamingo (Phoeniconaias minor)
As its name suggests, the Lesser Flamingo is the smallest of the flamingo species. They lay a single egg, and the hatched chicks are led to fresh water by a few adult birds - a journey of which can reach over 20 miles (32 km).

Some wonder whether Mr Modi might have crossed a line by going after the august BBC, especially in a year when India will be in the spotlight as host of the G20. They underestimate how important fighting shadowy enemies is to his political appeal. After the prime minister’s many victories against domestic critics, going alter foreign ones is the logical next step. The doubters also underestimate the limpness of Mr Modi’s western allies. America, Britain and the rest may express some small concerns, from time to time, about minority rights and press freedoms in India. But what matters to them is the vast economic potential of the Indian market, and the longing for an Indian bulwark in the West’s struggle for supremacy with China.

Former President Obama in an upcoming interview with CNN says it is “appropriate” for President Biden to challenge foreign leaders on issues in their country that are “troubling.”
Obama gave his comments ahead of the official state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been criticized for his government’s treatment of Muslims and a weakening of press freedoms.
“I do think that it is appropriate for the President of the United States, where he or she can, to uphold those principles and to challenge — whether behind closed doors or in public — trends that are troubling. And so, I’m less concerned about labels than I’m concerned about specific practices,” he told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.
He added that protecting the rights of minority groups in India is essential.
“Part of my argument would be that if you do not protect the rights of ethnic minorities in India, then there is a strong possibility India at some point starts pulling apart. And we’ve seen what happens when you start getting those kinds of large internal conflicts,” he said.
In the full interview, which will air Thursday night, Obama said that part of the duties as President is to meet with leaders of other countries and their governments, even if they aren’t fully democratic.
“But you have to do business with them — because they’re important for national security reasons — there are a range of economic interests,” he said.
“If the president meets with Prime Minister Modi, then the protection of the Muslim minority in a majority-Hindu India, that’s something worth mentioning,” Obama added.
Biden, Obama’s former Vice President, made joint remarks with Modi at the White House on Thursday. The Indian prime minister did not respond to a question about the treatment of Muslims in India ahead of a bilateral meeting.
Modi, on his first state visit to the United States, will also give a joint address to Congress later Thursday, which will be boycotted by some Democrats.

also like i was going to reblog ur post abt it last night with a good old ramble but i literally don't know how to articulate any of it. being diaspora + being mixed = NO media that ever caters to how different that experience is AND how simultaneously u have both of the cultures AND that of the place u were born. like. being chinese and being told by all my khmer friends i'm a lot more chinese than khmer because of our food & social etiquette etc vs seeing chinese diaspora media and it's all... so Clean. like no mention of being lower middle class it's all going after wealth and being Chinese American. idk. it is complicated
ohhhh yeah. idk man growing up in diaspora is its own beast yknow?? i could not imagine adding being mixed on top of that like truly like the identity crisis mustve been. insane for you which like. fucking sucks :/ on some level though i get what you mean abt not feeling represented by representation bc like. idk its hard to put into words but for me a lot of the times its like. here i see a character who looks like me but i dont feel seen. if that makes sesne

there are so many debates about identity that seem unaware of the fact that indigeniety is itself a construct that is not relevant everywhere in the world, or is more complicated than we pretend it is

I can't stop thinking about that poll (what percentage of the world population do you think is Jewish). I want to ask these people so many questions, but I know it would be fruitless. People don't understand numbers. People don't think through the implications of their assumptions. People don't actually have reasons for like 90% of the things they believe to be true. (Including me! I just made that number up!)
It's always disconcerting when you're confronted with the fact that something central to your experience of the world is never given any thought by other people. Even when you know that there's something central to them that you never think about.
