Tuesday, April 4: Lefay, “Cimmerian Dream”

SOS was the last of three albums the members of Morgana Lefay recorded under the shortened Lefay moniker, though “Cimmerian Dream” carried on with the crunchy and technical power metal sound established under the original name.  The track was as proficient in its execution as usual for Lefay, though it couldn’t escape the fatigue surrounding all strains of power metal at the time, and there was certain lack of momentum or hooks to fully draw listeners in.  That didn’t fully detract from the overall quality of the material or the band’s stellar musicianship, but it did prevent Lefay from breaking out in a meaningful way, and SOS actually ended up being their last album before announcing a temporary breakup.

Morgana in the aco/tar verse:

1) she would probably be in the dawn or spring court or at least was born and raised there; i do see her having some sort of plant/earth manipulation and strong healing powers so that’s why i am between those two courts.

2) i can also see her living in the night court and assisting the inner circle somehow.

3) if she were to have a mate, their relationship would be similar to n/esta and ca/ssian; similar because she is the kind of person that people would misread all the time, she is not someone to trust people easily and has a hard time doing that, she is not one to show what she is truly feeling too so people never really know her true intentions unless she makes it clear and her mate would probably be the only one to actually understand and see through her.

4) still about the mate matter, if he is a high lord, she will probably demand to be a high lady before accepting the bond because no way that she is going to be tied to someone probably for all eternity if her mate doesn’t see her as an equal and doesn’t want to share the power too.

5) this one is just to go against s/jm but consider, Morgana being the high lady of a very different court that most faes haven’t heard about and there is no high lord; just a high lady, period, but it can also have two high ladies in command and we might consider a high lord too.

6) if Morgana has her own court and is a high lady, i like the idea that she knows about Ve/laris either because she is also a seer OR because she knows R/hysand and they know about each other’s court and its location but Rh/ysand won’t tell the others anything unless they really need Morgana’s help.

7) i also think that A/mren would know about Morgana.

8) since no one else is aware of Morgana’s court, Rhysa/nd comes to her to ask to help him hide Velar/is because, yes she is that powerful, but i think i will only make this idea into my canon for her verse if i discuss this with a Rhys/and writer because i wanna know if this makes sense haushauhsau

Conclusions: Study finds, my love language is cute aggression. Subject Mads Mikkelsen was the example studied here but, complementing the data with a quick search trough the user's blog, we might conclude this is standard behaviour for all obsessions, old and more contemporary ones.

I was reading The Witch today and there is this specific part of the book where the author explains that in several texts of studies and stories used to form the fairy folklore, he noticed that they usually associate the color purple with royalty and the color green with the fairy folk in general, and i can’t stop thinking about Morgana and the whole symbolism behind it and how everything was used for her characterization in both the Merlin tv show and The Mists of Avalon books. Morgana is seen wearing most purple and blue gowns in the tv show and she slowly changes to green color gowns with darker tones as she develops her powers and her arc moves forward through the series (which i am not a big fan of, but that’s a post for another time). The same thing happens in The Mists of Avalon books, Morgana is often described wearing purple with gold gowns but also blue gowns while she was living in the Uther Pendragon’s court, and the moment she moved to Avalon and started her life as a priestess, she started to wear green and blue gowns and that’s the color of the priestesses’ clothes in Avalon.
