G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it: I SURE DO. When I was a kid, my first true obsession was D.igimon lmao. I remember being sooo excited to see it every Saturday, and I really, really wanted T.ai and S.ora to get together. I talked to my poor brother about it a lot, because I remember him complaining to me once, saying, "You've ruined it for me! I can't stop looking at everyone as a couple!" YOU'RE WELCOME. haha Anyway, in some leftfield move, the writers put both characters with different people, and so that was my first fandom AND my first fandom betrayal. It's only gotten worse from there lol.

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., tv shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.) Usually TV (though I also had an anime phase in middle/high school)! The only movie I've joined fandom-wise is The D.ark K.night. Oh! And Emma 2020. That fandom was sooo enthusiastic about my fanfiction, which is funny because I was terrified of posting since I'd never read the book. Anyway, I've never actually gotten involved in a book fandom before, though I HAVE written fanfiction for it (i.e. G.one with the W.ind).

I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why Mmm, yeah. The first fandom I participated in on this site was O.nce Upon a T.ime, and the people were horrid -- very immature and veeery judgmental/rabid about ships. So in other words, I guess they were like any other fandom LOL. Or at least, just the big ones, because all my terrible experiences have been in large groups. My other lousy times were with The D.ark K.night and H.annibal. S1 of the latter was actually a great fandom experience, but then something happened where certain shippers became rude and entitled, and then it was no longer enjoyable to be around those ppl. The Turn fandom has been a bit rude too here and there, but only on one discord server -- everyone on here has been very lovely! <3

J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr (Cause I'm a royal pain in the ass, and have nebbie streak) Oh geez, there are so many...I actually was reminded of giving Turn a second chance from seeing a mutual reblog a gifset, so I could say Turn? But I also wouldn't say I never cared about it, per se. Honestly, the more something is shoved in my face, the less likely I am to watch it/enjoy it, so maybe the only case that I've enjoyed something like that (except for S2) was The W.itcher and S.tranger T.hings, even though I'm just a casual viewer of both.

Mara had been focusing pretty much her whole day into searching for Nebby, with a little bit of texting here and there to keep morale up. But it was obvious that she was beginning too neglect her mental and physical health more for this search, as the Sylveon walking by her side seemed to be trying to gentle pull on her arm, although that didn't seem to work.

"VeeVee, I know you want me to rest but, we have a lot to get back to, and Nebby being. . .who knows where is just making me more uncomfortable by the minute, besides, we know if I go to 'sleep', you or Pikapi are gonna have to wake me up by. . ." She yawned loudly, nearly stumbling to the ground. "Drastic measures."

Veevee knew this, and at this point, he was more willing to throw his trainer up against a tree to wake her up than her going past her limits. Even her emotions seemed to be showing how bad her exhaustion WAS, sure, they were relatively what he'd expect from her being constantly tired from ultra space shenanigans, but this was. . .worse.

Paranoia worse.

Soon enough, Mara felt herself be pulled to the ground by the Sylveon's ribbons. "Agh-" She looked to VeeVee, who seemed to give her a worried glance. "Fine but, don't let me sleep too long, okay? That'd. . .be appreciated." She gave yet another yawn before quickly passing out, much to the relief of VeeVee. He stood guard, knowing he'd probably be fine staying awake, oddly enough, exhaustion didn't seem to bother him as much anymore, maybe it was that ghost typing thing?

“Oh, you're done texting your mom?” “Yeah!” Hau is sitting next to me, feet dangling into the sea of flowers. Cinnamon's still in my arms, and still very fuzzy. I close my eyes and listen to the wind a little. It smells like fresh air, and… well, flowers. It's nice.

“Man, who thought somewhere so cool could be hidden so close to those red rock cliffs?” “Oh, um, I knew about it…” Lillie's on my left, her backpack on her lap, with the see-through part facing away – for Nebby. “I like coming here when I need a, uh, a moment to myself… it's always so peaceful.”

I take a deep breath and smile at the sun. “Man, it hecking sure is! “I'm gonna have to ask M-- my Rotom to note it down.”

My hand mindlessly runs through Cinnamon's fur. I let my thoughts wander for a time; but, of course, they manage to end up into the memories of my first day.

I still think time isn't real, because there's no fecking way so much keeps happening in a single day. Going from almost dying, to big-ass yellow cat, to crying my eyes out and then cute bunny? …Now that I think of it, I would've probably never met Cinnamon if I hadn't snapped and ran away like that.

I lower my head toward her and whisper. “i'm so glad i met you.” She lets out a soft teeth-purr. I hug her closer. “i still don't quite get why exactly you decided to stay with me, of all people… but, i'm glad you did.”

Cinnamon looks at me for a second… and licks my nose. I snort. “Oh come on, you adorable fluffball!” Right as I finish my sentence, she perks up.

Our eyes meet for a split second. …Wait, why does she seem both happy and scared at the same time? She hesitates, long enough for me to start asking, “What's th-”

She's gone. HUH?

I manage to catch a glimpse of brown fur plunging into the sea of yellow flowers. I jump in to follow without a second thought. “Wait, hold on, where--” My foot trips on something and I almost faceplant into the meadow.

I turn quickly to see what did it – the sight is so bewildering I freeze completely for a good five seconds. “…What in the fresh hell?”

Hau and Lillie catch up to me as I am still trying to process what's on the ground in front of me. It's two, er, people (bodies…?), laying face down the grass, wearing some kind of white and dark teal science-fiction suits like they fell right out of a spaceship? With matching backpacks and helmets and everything??

“Um. Are they dead…?” Upon hearing my question, Lillie takes a step back. Hau hesitates. “Well, can't hurt to check!” he shrugs as he crouches down beside the two figures.

He approaches his hand slowly to poke one of them. A plant bites him. A what now?

[Pokémon scanned: Petilil] [Grass type] Oh nice, she's here already! …wait, are we gonna have to fight it? “Ah! Watch out!”

Lillie's warning makes me sidestep just in time to dodge the puff of spores that was heading my way. There's two Petilil now. “Oh come on.”

Hau readies a pokéball. “I'll take the right one with Leo! Think you can have the other?” I glance at Melga's screen to see who's effective against plants. “Okay, uh, Ayo mayb-” Before I can even reach for my bag to get her, a flash of light comes out on its own. I thank Melga with a nod.

“Alright Ayo, see that that angry onion over there? Think you can go Peck it?” It only takes her a second to understand what's going on. With a gleam of excitement in her eyes, she lunges forward to attack.

The other Petilil sends more spores; a lick of fire from Hau's cat bursts most of them into flames. It fortunately doesn't hit any nearby flowers, nor the weird unconscious people. My onion opponent takes Ayo's hit as well… but then it starts to make some kind of weird, low-pitched noise?

I don't even have time to wonder what the fuck that's about before the grass behind it trembles – and a huge ass butterfly comes out of it! “EXCUSE ME? They're allowed to do that??” Well, if it's a butterfly it's probably a bug, right? So Ayo can still Peck it?

As I see her eagerly dart to it, Melga's screen comes into view. I recognize a type matchup chart – this one is for the Inkay species… and the box under “Bug” is flashing red.

It takes me a second to understand.

“AYO WAIT-” It's too late; the insect's wings are now flapping faster, and faster, and some kind of grey wind energy emerges from them and--

I am now trying very hard not to think about the sound Ayo's body just made upon hitting the ground.

I'm about to run that way when Lillie stops me. “D-don't worry, I'll get her!” Right. It's okay. It's okay. Hopefully saying it two times makes it stick in my head. You're not alone here. She'll probably be fine. I hope.

Melga doesn't say anything. She just shows me the next team member to send out. “Alright,” I nod. A flash of light brings in Mo. This way of switching in and out seems to work pretty well…

“Okay, Mo, sorry– I know you're new and all, but the fucking bug over here just took out Ayo, you think you can take her place?” Xey look around for a second, but I think xey've heard what I said because the butterfly now looks like it's slightly shaking in dark purple… and Melga tells me that was “Disable”. Now it can't do that grey wind thing anymore. Good.

A hand gently grabs my arm. I jump. It's just Hau. “I got the other one, but Leo has to rest! Puffle can take the Butterfree though.” I think I'm starting to get into the flow of this. “Okay. Got it.”

“Mo! Poison the onion please!” It seems Angry Onion has decided to take its name to heart because it's now literally swelling with annoyance. [Growth], apparently. Luckily, Mo's somehow-precisely-aimed purple gas envelopes it anyway.

Some electricity from Hau's side – I think Puffle has Asshole Bug slowed down. Are we finally fucking winning? Yet suddenly, as if it's trying to contradict me, the Petilil starts glowing. “Uhhh, Mo, try the acid spraying maybe? Keep your distance!”

Zzap! Puffle strikes, bug's down. Green light surrounds Mo– like the onion's trying to suck the lifeforce out of xem… but pile of goo does what goo does best. SPLOOSH! Bull's eye! Right into the plant's face!

“FINALLY! Now we can take care of the-” Wait. no. that noise again. Are you kidding me.

We're back at it again. There's three fucking onions now. The angry one is apparently too pissed off to pass out regardless of the poison, and-- what the fuck did it just shoot at Mo? I do not trust one bit the way these seeds just instantly took root deep into the goo.

Puffle's still good to go, but I'm kinda starting to run out of options here… Mo is gonna get tired eventually, and I'm not sending Blu against goddamn plants.

“Well, it'll have to be Is-” WUEEE!!

Rocket and Groot’s Trip to Wally World

“Yeah, yeah, just a minute.” Peter Quill yelled from the living room of the Guardians’ house as he got up to answer whoever was at the front door.

As Peter opened up the front door, he wasn’t surprised that two Nova Corps Officers were standing on the porch with Rocket and Groot. Rocket was sporting two handcuffs that were holding his tiny raccoon arms behind his back, while Groot was sitting adorably on the shoulder of one of the officers. Groot wasn’t wearing any handcuffs because there wasn’t any designed for a baby Flora Colossus that he couldn’t easily finagle his way out of.

“Great!” Peter facepalms as the other Guardians joined him at the front door. “What’d you do this time, Rocket?”

“Your friend and his accomplice were caught causing havoc in a Terran store known as Walmart. The Terran officers arrested him and contacted us to pick him up.” One of the officers stated as he took off Rocket’s handcuffs. “He was able to post bail and luckily for him, the Terran Authorities were weirded out by the whole situation and declined to press any charges, so now he’s your problem.”

Peter just covered his face with his palm as the officers placed two plastic bags by Rocket’s feet and let Groot climb off of his shoulder before he and his colleague left. Groot then settled himself on Rocket’s shoulder as the raccoon picked up the bags and followed the humie into the house.

Everyone was silent as Rocket placed the bags on the kitchen table before he sat down on the couch.

“Explain yourself, Rocket.” Peter ordered after five minutes of deafening silence. “What the hell were you doing on Earth when you know that you were supposed to get the last thing that we needed for Thanksgiving?”

“I was, Star-Munch. But then Kraglin texted me that we were out of cereal and-.” Rocket explains just before Peter cuts him off.

Peter held up his hand. “Don’t bring other people into this when you know that it’s purely your fault. Now what were you doing on Earth?”  “I TOLD YOU!” Rocket snarls through gritted teeth. “Kraglin said that we were out of cereal, and you know how whiny he gets when he has nothing to eat.”

“Kraglin will just have to suffer and survive off of whatever the rest of us eat.” Peter commanded as the Xandarian cowered in his recliner. “It’s my turn to return the favor of the kindness that he and Yondu showed me when they first abducted me.” Peter then turns his gaze back to the raccoon. “Now what were you and Groot doing on Terra?” “I told you!” Rocket was getting irritated at having to explain for the third time. “Me and Groot were gonna go get the stuff for this so-called ‘Thanksgiving Feast’ of yours when Kraglin texted me about the cereal shortage. I said ‘Fine, Terra’s only five jumps away-.’”

“Five jumps?!?!” Gamora’s parental instincts were kicking in. “You took Groot on a trip that involved you two taking FIVE JUMPS?!?!”

“Relax, Gammy.” Rocket replies. “Groot was in his car seat the entire time and when we got to Terra, he didn’t throw up once and I checked him over and he was FINE! He even cheered and laughed after we landed.”

“Where did you go on Terra afterwards?” Mantis inquired. “As the officer said, we went to this place called ‘Wally-Mart’ or whatever the flark it’s called.” Rocket couldn’t control his snickering. “Oh boy, when me and Groot got to this ‘Wally World’, the people in there were so funny to watch. Ha! Some of the clothes that they wore were awful! I then told Groot that they were probably Star-Munch’s long-lost cousins.”

“Get to the point, Rocket.” Peter snarls through his teeth.

“Alright, alright. Sheesh.” Rocket responded. “Anyways, after we entered, Groot pointed out that we would stand out because we’re not Terrans, so, I looked to the side and saw a bunch of scooters that some of the more lazier Terrans were using to get around.”

“Rocket...” Gamora sighs. “Those scooters are meant for people who can’t get around as easily as you can.”

“So? It wasn’t like it was the last scooter available.” Rocket countered. “Plus, did you forget that the average Terran is four feet taller than I am? Hell, even if I put Groot on my shoulders, we wouldn’t even be half of the average height of a Terran. So yeah, I’m entitled to a scooter because my legs get tired easily.” Peter knew that that was far from the case given Rocket’s cybernetic enhancements. “Rocket, I’ve seen you running when you steal some Units from a bank or a cookie from the cookie jar. So, why are you lying?”

“Hey, I’m just trying to blend in with the Terran clientele that most frequently patronize Walmart. The so-called ‘People of Walmart’ they call themselves.” Rocket shot back.

“Yeah, and it looks like they found their fearless leader...” Peter snickered.

“Shut up!” Nebula, who was tired of all the bickering, shouted. “Let the Stupid Fox get to the point of the story.”

“Thanks, Nebby.” Rocket began. “Anyways, Groot climbed into the scooter basket as I turned the flarkin’ thing on and we were off.”

“Off to where?” Mantis wondered, never having been to a Terran store. “Well, I promised Groot that since he was a good boy in the Milano, he could get a toy in the toy aisle.” Rocket explains as Groot smiles proudly. “That’s when we saw him.”

“Who?” Mantis wondered with childlike excitement.

“Baby Yoda.” Rocket answered.

“Rocket, Baby Yoda isn’t real.” Peter rolls his eyes. “It’s just a TV show.” “I know that!” Rocket implies. “Just try saying that to Groot! He has an unexplained jealousy over him! He thinks that he’s not as cute anymore since Baby Yoda arrived and all the Terrans lost their freakin’ minds over it. So, Groot started attacking anything that had Baby Yoda’s face on it. That’s when we were told to leave. But not before Groot decapitated every Baby Yoda doll that was there.”

Peter rolls his eyes as Rocket continued on “As we were leaving, Groot kept complaining that the scooter wasn’t fast enough, so I got an idea.”

“Oh boy, here we go...” Peter was genuinely annoyed.

“I took the scooter out to the ship and made some ‘upgrades.’” Rocket using air quotes to emphasize the last word.

“I am Groooot!” The tiny tree shouted, arms waving in the air.

“That’s right, Groot, I did make the scooter faster!” Rocket stated. “After I added a jet engine to the back...” He muttered while stifling a laugh.

“Oh my god!” Peter couldn’t believe his ears. “Rocket, you and Groot could’ve been seriously injured, or worse, killed.”

“Hehe, just try telling that to those turkeys who were just passing by when Groot and eye were barreling along at 500 miles and hour.” Rocket laughs along with Groot as everyone else rolls their eyes. “Hey, on the bright side, I got us dinner for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.” He added as the Guardians prepared for their annual Thanksgiving feast.—————————————————————————————————— Read on Ao3.——————————————————————————————————

After like three (?) years inspiration finally struck for me to make another comashipping texting scenario

I was gonna say you could consider this to be in the same timeline as this headcanon, but that would require things to either go faster or start earlier than what the headcanon says lol… Not sure if I’d consider the old texting scenario to be in the timeline too since Ash speaks pretty differently then compared to how I depicted him here but maybe you could chalk that up to Ash becoming more comfortable with talking to Paul? Idk. I’m a mess and none of my headcanons or scenarios are consistent.

Fun fact: the conversation was initially longer but I was starting to get worried that it was too long and that I’d have to put the convo into two posts so I cut out some stuff. It was all just unimportant shit so nothing really lost

Also, I’ve seen one episode of the sun and moon anime and it was the one nebby debuted in, so if Ash’s personality feels off, or I got some other shit wrong, I apologize. I don’t even think that episode’s been released in America yet but let’s pretend it has lol

Alright I finished Ultra Moon! Game play was fun, the new totems were interesting I love the new outfits you can get (should have given us more darnit what are there two?!). And Ultra Space is fun probably the best thing about this game honestly.

But...anyone who knows me know I LOVED Moon, it actually has my favorite story in any Pokemon game as of late, a great cast and a wonderful plot. When USM was announced I had some concerns about how the plot would be handled. The only reason they had two games instead of one for their third game was because Nebby was two Pokemon they needed one for each. I was concerned due to Necrozma being the focus they’d kill the plot that made SM so good. Especially as when looking it prerelease material it seemed to be the same game with little touches here and there.  

If you enjoyed the original and want to play more go for it there are some differences you might enjoy but if you never played an Alola version and want to jump in I would call the original better in terms of the world of Alola but Ultra better for gameplay so it depends on what matters to you. I generally prefer character and plot, so my recommendation goes to the original most would say the opposite.

Sun and Moon was not really your story, it was Lillie’s and the bond she had with Nebby. Ultra Moon is treated just like Moon until the very last half of the game, and then the new plot starts and it’s a total train wreck. See, if they were going to do a new plot you’d think they’d start it earlier and not have all the dialogue be the exact same because it doesn’t work with the new plot. 

Here’s what I mean by the dialouge is the same at one point it’s hilarious because Hau beat Hala in USUM, but Gladion still states that Hau can't beat Hala when you first meet him. It’s just wrong and lazy. That a minor thing but then it cuts into story.

Lillie is still treated the exact same until everything starts and she’s roughly shoved aside. The touching moment between you and her on Executor Island? Gone. You go alone. She still does her Z form and all that but because Lusamine is so different (more on that later) it just feels pointless and all the power behind that scene is sucked away. She doesn’t even go to Ultra Space with you and obviously because her plot is chopped up she doesn’t go to Kanto either. She’s just there. And it would be okay because I get it different game but then why set her up to be the exact same as she was in the original games and then violently shove everything aside to make up for the new plot. It. doesn’t. work.

Lusamine....oh Lusamine, one of the most interesting villains we’ve ever had was reduced to wanting to go to Ultra Space to fight Necrozma because she has a hero complex and is selfish, same basic stuff we always had but it’s very hard to tell what they were trying to do with her. Because most of her dialogue is exactly the same and she still has the frozen Pokemon room and again it just doesn’t work. People are upset she’s now redeemable but she was in the first game too and at the very least it made sense in that one.

She lost her husband and due to it became an ultra beast obsessed Nilhelgo poisoned drug addict who continued to get more and more batshit insane the more she came in contact with said UB eventually becoming Mother Beast and needing a good old fashioned beat down and giving us one of the greatest confrontations and lines from her daughter. 

In Ultra Moon she goes to ultra space to fight Necrozma and comes out. Lillie and her apparently talk while you’re fighting Necrozma and...that’s it. 

Which again would have been fine if they didn’t set her up exactly like the original. Nilhelgo still shows up in Aether Foundation and you still battle the thing her lines are exactly the same. They don’t change until Lillie gets kidnapped.

Minimal changes usually do work, Platinum is the best example of that. But it doesn’t work with the plot SM had, USM should have gotten rid of the family drama then because that only works with Lusamine being the antagonist she was it doesn’t play as well with her sidelined role. Granted because she’s not toxined and Kanto’d you can unlock this but...that was also very underwhelming.

Hau on the other hand they tried to make this game more about him, and honestly they should have thrown Lillie’s plot out then because what they do do with him works. It was nice to see him beat his grandfather and being the “champion” you had to face instead of Kukui. That was all nice, but then they should have had him be involved in the main plot more. Then in post game it’s back to Lillie as Lusamine is kidnaped by Rainbow Rocket. And we see what we always wanted to see Lillie as a trainer! But it’s...meh not that powerful she’s only a double battle partner and then gives up and heals you along the way.

So what is the main plot? Necrozma fuzes with Nebby once it becomes Lunala (or Solgaleo if you’re playing Ultra Sun) retreats to Ultra Space and you with help of the Ultra Recon Squad’s Pokemon to get you there (otherwise they still do nothing) beat it and come back. In that Ultra Megalopolis thing right? Except man you’d think something with that name would be massive right? Even the prerelease material hyped it up. The distortion world was really cool! This though was a tower. That’s it. You can even do anything in the place it felt really bland. I half wonder if they planned to do something with it and then ran out of time. 

Anyway Necromza retreats and you can catch it right before the league on the mountain. Little underwhelming really. The URS was more of a walking plot device then actual characters too which is a shame as I wanted to like them but they would appear talk plot and then leave. And Necrozma isn’t even evil like advertised (Surprise! Who’s surprised? No one.)

So yes game play and all that is fixed but the plot is damn terrible. Seriously, yes URS is new but for the first four islands: "Hello. Cryptic stuff about our world. Bye!" and then straight back to the Sun/Moon plot. Which shouldn’t be how it was, they should have done more with them everything hits too late and EVERYONE suffers because of it. Except Hau, Hau did pretty well.

As someone who likes to get invested in the characters and plot I’m very disappointed. The Looker and Anabel quest is gone which...is a damn shame. That also gave us some more world building about Alola. Instead you get this Rainbow Rocket which is alright I guess. Ghetsis and Corless having a showdown was neat and you see a little into the past villains with some text. Guzma gets something which is cool too but why replace something that expanded on Alola for this? Could you have had both somehow then? I know Pokemon doesn’t have DLC and thank goodness but eh RR plot should have without a doubt been DLC. Delta Emerald was a great post game plot, it expanded on the world gave our new people some character and we learned more about Hoenn. Compared to that Rainbow Rocket was....fanservice. 

Since most people are into Pokemon for gameplay this will be fine I’m sure but as for me this game was basically my worst fears. I didn’t need to exist the same way BW2 didn’t need to exist (and as much as I rag on BW2 AT LEAST it was a sequel so there was nothing to ruin) I don’t agree with their choices and it was a total let down from BW but compared to this...which was a third game for a already pretty complete game. The one that NEEDED the fix was XY and it got nothing. I would have rather had Z over this honestly.

But the gameplay is solid at least, I’m just more of a involved with the world kind of person.

Ultra Sun Recollections 01

If you read my other post, you may already know my opinions on the story of Pokemon Sun and Moon (spoilers: it’s really good). Suffice to say, however, that I was a little late to the party - I finished the main story with less than 2 weeks left before Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon came out.

On the other hand, I bought Ultra Sun on its release date. And while I don’t have the equipment to properly Let’s Play the game (3DS capture cards are super expensive - something like $500, or “an arm and a leg”), I can still share my experience through the power of text. ...Well, text and a few shaky-cam pictures, I guess. We are extremely low-budget here on the Count Mohawk Show!

Anyway, last night I played roughly half an hour into the game. This would technically be spoilers, I guess, except that nobody ever complains about being spoiled on the first ten minutes of a Pokemon game. Nonetheless, I’ll add a break here, to be considerate.

The opening sequence of any Pokemon game is pretty much the same: select your gender, give yourself a name, etc etc. I pretty much always go by “Mohawk”, except for the one time I chose the female character in FireRed, where I went by the appellation of “Mohawke” instead.

During Lillie’s cutscene, were those some members of the Ultra Recon Squad on the right? The clip went by too fast for me to tell, but I’m pretty sure those were just masked Aether employees in regular Sun.

On the shelf in my character’s room is an autograph from a “Kantonian Gym Leader”. I wonder which one it’d be from? Getting Blue’s autograph would be aces, but since he shows up later at the Battle Tree I suppose they probably would have said if it was his, which means it’s one of the other 7.

After exiting my house on Route 1, the first major difference I notice is an inconveniently-placed clump of tall grass between my house and Iki Town! I assume they did that solely to reduce the time-to-first-Pokemon people complained about in Sun (like seriously, you have to sit through, what, half a dozen cutscenes before you get to make your choice?). I appreciate the callback to Gen I though, where tall grass prevents you from actually leaving Pallet Town but you’re expected to try to step in it anyway.

I only had to reset twice to get a Brave Litten. Huzzah for luck! I’ll trade for the other two starters later, once I find the Nursery and can breed my trades with Dittos. (I plan to cheese the GTS to trade a Ditto from my Sun into Ultra Sun so I don’t have to wait until I get to Ula’Ula to activate the Dark Factory of Mass Production.) Although traded Pokemon do get the benefit of increased EXP growth, I generally prefer my ‘Mons to have my own Trainer ID as an aesthetic choice.

I don’t intend to do any proper EV training or anything prior to the postgame. Resetting my starter for a good Nature, however, is a special exception, because I intend to use the EV-resetting Berries to fix my starter later, instead of breeding an offspring from it and starting from scratch.

Lillie’s first encounter was changed up a little bit - instead of just going in Leeroy Jenkins to save Nebby straight away, I get the opportunity to knock out one of the circling Spearows in a battle first. While two-shotting those clowns with Ember is very satisfying, it does raise the question of why I couldn’t have just fought off the entire flock without having to step onto the rickety old bridge and endanger myself directly.

Speaking of reckless self-endangerment, goddammit Nebby DON’T BLOW AWAY THE BRIDGE WHILE I’M STANDING ON IT ARE YOU DELIBERATELY TRYING TO GET MY STUPID ASS KILLED

Hau, were you always this rude to your grandpa Hala? I don’t remember you complaining quite so loudly about him being away in vanilla Sun.

And that’s about as far as I’ve gotten for impressions. I saved the game just after Kukui’s Pokemon catching tutorial. While my A-team is undecided at the moment, I will be putting more of an effort in to catch as many varieties of Pokemon from each Route as possible.
