This album was sort of marketed like it would be an album for Joe, but a lot of the songs never really seemed to fit correctly. Timeline wise it would have been around Calvin, Tom Hiddleston and then into Joe.

... Ready for it. (9/10)

"Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him. Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted." This didn't really seem to fit with anyone we knew she dated at the time. Matty would work.

"But if he's a ghost, then I can be a phantom holding' him for ransom" back to the ghosting and her trying to hold onto him.

I am not sure anyone ever really had a good handle on who this was about that I can remember. I think I always just assumed it was about several guys she had dated. I really don't see anything specific enough in this song to relate to any certain person or situation.

Could just be a metaphor, but would fit Mattys drug use at the time. We don't know of anyone else that she dated that would have had a drug problem.

"I've been breaking hearts a long time, and toying' with them older guys" back to it being someone her age or younger, so Harry, Conner or Matty.

"For you I would cross the line, I would waste my time, I would lose my mind" - risking her reputation for him. Wasting her time knowing he isn't ready to settle down.

"I'm insane, but I'm your baby. Echoes of your name inside my mind. Halo hiding my obsession". She has only mentioned a Halo in one other song of hers, "I can fix him (no really I can)".

"Do the girls back home touch you like I do" sort of alludes to the fact they aren't really exclusively together.

"Sometimes when I look into your eyes, I pretend you are mind all the damn time" they are somewhat casual

References them meeting not long before they started dating, which should exclude Matty, unless the song was written way earlier then it was released.

Notes she is his "American Queen" so that could fit for Joe or Matty.

"Cause all the boys in their expensive cars, with their Range Rovers and their Jaguars never took me quite where you do" would have worked for either Joe or Matty.

"Your love is a secret I'm hoping, dreaming, dying to keep" could work for either. She kept Joe decently quiet for a while before we knew they were dating.

Taylor and Matty would have been 25 in 2014. So after Harry and before Calvin, right in that Matty phase.

Joe would have been 25 in 2016, right when they started dating. So the age part is really not overly helpful. I think what's most helpful is the fact this is written like the relationship was over at the time of her writing this, which doesn't fit with Joe.
