Hang in there baby 🥹
Tumblr media
Living my best life despite the pain. Skipped work and lounged in bed last night eating Hawaiian Summer vegan pizza from Virtuous Pie. Went shopping yesterday and got a new purple sculpt knit tank dress from Babaton that perfectly matches this thrifted vintage robe I found years ago at VV.

Chapter Three
Jotaro Kujo x Reader
Warning ‣ Swearing
[Next] [Prev]
The smell of bacon wafted into my room, causing me to knit my eyebrows together. Groaning softly I open one of my eyes; the light from the crack in the blinds lighting my room up dimly. 'What's that smell?'  I thought to myself, rubbing my face and sitting up. Rolling my shoulders a few times and standing up, out of bed. The fluffy white cat wasn't there anymore. Letting my shoulders slump and back crack slightly as I bend backwards; stretching in a way.
Heading towards the mouth-watering smell, which was in the small black with tabletops- Kitchen. I almost choked, completely forgetting how to breathe. Eyes wide with the scene before me.
Ink hair brushed back loosely, sea whirlpools for eyes staring down at the pan with cooking bacon in it; a muscled chest showing through his classic purple tank top (which I had no idea where he got it, I pretty sure it's in the wash) and bright pink apron he was currently wearing. The sculpted arms of a greek god all wrapped up in bandages, just out there, for me to drink in the sight. He was still in his very dark blue underwear, the bu-
'What am I thinking! You thirsty bitch!'
I mentally slapped myself and yawned again, moving my hand up to cover the gaping mouth, which didn't make it in time. He stared out of the corner of his vision.
I got to work; getting out the plates, forks, and knives- getting out a second pan and cracking 4 eggs into it, they sizzled loudly. I stared down at them with half-lidded eyes- though my body still looked asleep- my mind was going a mile a minute. How close was I to him? He swayed gently and brushed your should against his upper arm. I took every cell in my body not to jump to space. I flinched slightly but he seemed not to notice, we didn't speak a word but it wasn't awkward, it was oddly calming. Once the eggs and bacon were cooking to perfection, he poured the bacon onto the plate and you did the same with the eggs.
Eating in silence, was a little more awkward than cooking. I had tried to start up a conversation, but he only answered in short-one-worded statements. There was still some plain residing on his face, I couldn't blame him. I offered some more plain killer and he grimly hummed taking them. Maybe that was his way of saying thank you?
"Oi, woman."
"My name is (y/n)."
"Whatever.... take me out-"
I looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. He glared back at me, his beautiful lips drawn into a tight line. I Simply nodded and packed the dishes into the washing machine, him staring intensely at something around me.
I gave back his dry clothes which he seems pleased about, the frown on his face decreased just a tiny bit. Getting dressed me into a  dark red- almost maroon- high neck shirt with a white oversized -to the max- band shirt both tucked into a short red plaid skirt, thick black tights and red (fake) converse. My hair was normally how it is.
Jotaro eyed my outfit before 'tsk' ing and tipping his hat down. We headed out taking the train to the marketplace -or mall-.
The train was unusually crowded, many teens, kids, families, businessman and women all. In. A. Small. Space. I grumbled slightly as I stumbled when some persons back knocked into mine. Jotaro- who was currently in front of me. God bless. Saved my ass, letting me face plant right into his firm chest. My face turned red and quickly pushed away from him. He stared down at my form with his usual face. Hearing our stop, I tried my hardness to push past people, not knowing that the mab behind me had all eyes on him. Finally getting off the train that came from hell. The two of us did a short walk to the big cream and white coloured building covered in glass windows.
The  Carpark was almost full of cars, many slowly driving around looking for a free spot. I walked in the large glass door, feeling the cold air-con blowing the hair out of my face. Jotaro followed closely behind, gaining a lot of affection from both males and females.  I heard him grumble and frowned. A basic bitch soon came up to us- well him, her bleached hair gently swaying as she walked up to him. She was wearing a red corseted type of top -to show off her boobs-, skinny black jeans and white vans. Something tightened in my chest and she tried to sweet-talk the 190cm male.
"Hey~ Are you free this week~?"
She said, sickly sweet. Just then something clicked in your brain when Jotaro gave the woman an odd look, I giggled and looked up at him. deciding to be a good citizen. I looked at the female and smiled as kindly as I could before looking at Jotaro, pressing a finger to my lips.
"She asked if you were free this week."
Speaking in a different language made her look back at her two friends. She was confused. He frowned and looked down at me, grumbling something that I couldn't understand before glaring down at the girl and I swear I could see the 'menacing' characters.
"No. Shut up bitch, you're annoying."
He spat down her before turning and walking off. I was kinda not even surprised at his action, as to the lady she just stared at him blankly before squealing, before giving me a half-assed glare. She skipped away back to her friends.
I quickly walked back to the jet black-haired man who was staring at a dolphin print sweater, in the shop window of... Gucci. My sweat dropped when he asked to check out the store. I couldn't even buy a shoelace in that store let alone a Japanese style sweater. Neither the less, the two of us made our way into the store.
At one point in time everyone in the store looking at Jotaro, he didn't take notice as he stared at the piece of clothing. I blushed slightly at the attention I was getting as well.
"Oh my god, what are you doing here, you broke ass?"
I froze at the words but laugh lightly at the owner of the voice, turning around to spot a light brown-haired girl in an oversized sweater and sweat pants standing at the entry of the store. Amy smirked at me- showing off her multi-coloured braces, I smiled back at her. seeing her face drop, I raised an eyebrow.
"Is that Jotaro Fucking Kujo?"

Circus of Oddities
An anonymous request for a supernatural circus. This one was a blast to work on! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
A traveling circus arrives in town. It wasn’t there yesterday and you don’t remember seeing anyone setting it up. An hour ago it was an empty field, or at least you think it was.
You get in the car to go run some errands. The sun was just about to set and the air was blowing with a sharp breeze that seemed to pull you off the road. You turn off your street to head to the store, but you end up at the circus. The car stops; your keys fall into your hand.
You shrug. ‘Might as well check it out while it’s still in town’ you think to yourself.
You step out the car, the tent looms in front of you. Purple and black stripes twist and twine in the breeze and you shiver. It wasn’t supposed to be this cold outside, was it?
The ticket vendor sits on a stool. Her face is lowered down at her phone and a cigarette dangles from her lips; the end glows bright purple. Her long hair is held back by a dark knit cap and her clothes match the sky. It got dark quickly for the summer.
“One ticket please,” you request. She doesn’t look up from her phone.
Not wanting to be rude, you cough into your fist. She still doesn’t acknowledge you, but the money you had in your pocket was now lighter. In its place was your exact change in cents. You unfold your fist and you found you were holding it the whole time.
You buy some kettle-corn and a water and go to find your seat in the sea of chairs. Your ticket says you’ll be near the back, so you head towards it. You take a step and your rows of seats ahead. Standing directly in front of your’s.
“Good evening one and all!” The ringleader welcomes the audience, but you can’t help but think she's staring right at you, or more accurately through you. Her clothes are long and elegant the black of her dress and skull headpiece matching the color of her long cigarette holder, the end as red as her lips. Her face is long and she talks with red-tinted eyes and sharpened teeth that seem to bg and pointy to be human.
The first act is the lion tamer with a bright red coat hanging almost low enough to cover something long and fury poking out from their back; it swishes the ground when he moves. He hisses at the beasts in a language you feel you should know, but when you try to pronounce the words your mind goes blank. The animals step back into their cage with a snarl and the tamer takes a bow. Are those ears you see poking out of his top hat?
The swimmer appears next in a large tank pulled in by her assistant who’s ears are pointed and glow green if you stare long enough.
The swimmer waves at the crowd and dives into the pool. Her tail is impossible to miss as it darts in and out as she does the same. Her bubble pipe stays lit underwater and the bubbles float all the way to the top of the tent; they glow purple, blue, black, and green. The bubbles change shapes as they float.
Her assistant raises the ladder to the high-dive. Ten feet, thirty feet, fifty, the ladder keeps going and he keeps climbing. He reaches the top and waits for the swimmer to put her blindfold on. She slips it on, demonstrates her lack of sight to the audience, and opens her mouth. Without a moment of hesitation he jumps. Falling faster and faster until he lands in her mouth with a pop! from her pipe. In one great gulp, she swallow him up whole.
She bows and the teen from the ticket booth drags the rank offstage. You can see the swimmer’s tail reflecting the stage lights.
The magician takes the stage. She’s wearing a large poofy dress big glasses too large for her head and oddly enough a witch’s hat. She’s pulls a large Steampunk escape chamber into the spotlight. A few bags of sand dangle precariously from the top. If she fails to break out in time… they’d suffocate her for sure.
She sets the timer for five minutes and steps inside the Victorian chamber. A minute passes, then two. The timer clicks on mercilessly. Thirty seconds. Thunk! The sand falls and you all gasp. She steps out- no floats out and the circus erupts with cheers at her apparent survival. Though her skin was now blue and she seemed to be floating rather than walking offstage.
A person clad in a painter’s smock and sunglasses steps up holding an assortment of sculpting tools. Standing next to them is the goth girl starting with a dead look in her eyes into the audience. The sculptor stares into the eyes of the girl and takes off her glasses. There’s s glow and you wince from the sudden brightness. You blink and the teen is stone.
The sculptor grabs a hammer from their tool box and smashes the statue, but within seconds they put another together again. Another flashing light and the goth is back her cigarette coated in dust and stone.
The ringleader steps back on stage pulling a large cannon with her. She’s winks and pulls out a person from the artillery. The girl has long hair trailing down to her feet that she wears in two pigtails. Her clothing is black and covered in frills and gunpowder and she reeks of perfume. In between her teeth she clenches a huge cigar and gigantic aviator goggles rest on top of her head. Parts of her skin seem too loose, and her joints are connected with stitches. Her head has something pink and sticky poking out of it.
“And now, for our final act of the show” the ringleader announces as the girl loads herself and several sticks of fireworks and dynamite into the canon. “My daughter the great fantastic human cannonball!”
You cheer and everyone else follows suit. The mother gracefully gives her cigarette holder a swish and the fuse of the cannon comes to life. She aims towards the roof of the tent and the rope continues to burn. The spark ignited with a deafening roar as the girl and the explosives fly out of the canon and through the roof. The fireworks and dynamite explode and sparks shower down. The girl’s arm falls off and her mother grabs it and puts it in a sewing kit for later.
The audience cheers and call for an encore which the performers gladly oblige. The ticket vendor is dragged out on stage and flicks her cigarette out of her mouth, only to have the human cannonball’s cigar fall into her mouth from the sky. It hits the fuse as she stumbles into the canon with a bored expression still on her face as she rockets towards space and vanished with s twinkle.
The circus empties out into the parking lot and families make their way home for the night. You look up at the chilly night sky and spot a shooting star overhead. You get into your car only to hear a large crash! Sitting in the backseat fresh ash and gunpowder tumbling off her was the ticket vendor, with the human cannonball’s cigar still hanging from her mouth.
“Can I get a lift home?”

“The Colours Of Twilight” Part 3
***Disclaimer TMNT is not mine. I created Skye to play in their world.***
Skye was sitting on the rooftop enjoying the warm fall evening. Taking a sip of her tea she turns a page in her book. Sighing happily she thinks ‘Yes, a vacation is just what I needed.’ The entrance door to the garden opened, and April walks out to join her. “Hey Skye, I’m going to be heading to the lair in a few minutes, wanna come?” Skye almost leaped off of the chair “Yes, I would love to go!” April smiles “Grab some workout clothes if you want, Leo mentioned that you should feel free to use the mats if you wanted to.” Skye hurried inside and tossed her shorts, sports bra, tank top and a few other items into a bag.
The two women got into April’s car and Skye turned to her. “You mentioned that the guys were helping Casey with a special assignment tonight?” As April starts the car she says “Yeah, Casey texted me and said that they’ve just about wrapped things up, and they will meet us at the lair for a late dinner.” They pull out of the apartment complex and start heading down the street. April glances at Skye. “I’ve got to do some work on a story for tomorrow, my computer is refusing to save documents right now so Donnie said I could use one of his.” Skye says, “Damn tech. While you’re working I will probably grab a workout, I’ve taken enough rest days.”
They arrive at the lair and April pushes a button on her dash and a section of the brick lifts up allowing her to drive her car in. April parks the car in a designated section and they get out. Skye takes a moment to admire the assortment of vehicles. There was the Tartaruga, Raph and Gen’s bikes, ATV’s and a couple of jeeps. April catches up with her. “The guys have always been incredibly resourceful, and Donnie can make just about anything from scraps. But, since they now actually work with the police department, it’s made things a little easier for them.”
Upon entering the living space the two women see Master Splinter. “Good evening ladies, it is nice to see you both. I was just about to put on a pot of tea, would either of you like a cup? April and Skye spend a few minutes talking with Master Splinter. April excuses herself to get started on her article and Skye finishes her tea while talking with him. She thanks him for the tea and heads to get changed. After entering the Dojo she walks around admiring all the equipment that the guys had. Arriving at the weight section her eyes widen. “Ok, this must be where Raph works out.” There were a bench and a bar that had to have close to 1500 pounds of manhole covers on it. She sputters “Holy shit.”
Skye puts in her earbuds and the sound of her favorite instrumentals fill her head. Putting on her knee wrap on she warms up, making sure to stretch. She hadn’t tumbled in a few days and felt a little stiff. After warming up she starts with a simple combo of cartwheels and flips. Soon her surroundings start to fade.
Casey sneaks up behind April and wraps his arms around her “Hey Babe.” April startles slightly turns to him “Casey, very funny.” Her tone was scolding, but she was grinning. She leans into him and gives him a hug. When she opens her eyes she sees Leo, Donnie and Mikey enter the room. “Hey, guys.” Casey releases her to stand beside her with his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Leo looked around. “Did Skye happen to come with you tonight?” Leo hoped that he didn’t sound too eager. April points her head in the direction of the Dojo. “Yeah, she’s here, she took you up on the offer to use the mats.” Nodding in thanks Leo starts heading to join her.
Leo opens the door to the Dojo and stops. There was Skye in the middle of a routine. He watched her flip through the air and land in a split. She moved like grace itself and Leo found himself admiring her finely sculpted body. She looked incredible in blue. He swallowed, unable to move.
Skye backflips to the edge of the mat and bent over to grab her water bottle. After taking a long drink she takes a breath. She raises her arms over her head and sees him out of the corner of her vision. Her heart starts breathing faster as she wonders just how long he’s been there. She takes her earbuds out. “Hey, Leo.”
“Hey Skye,” Leo said as he managed to pull himself away from the doorframe. Walking towards her smiled. “That was pretty impressive.” Skye grinned. “Thanks.” She paused as she met his gaze, lost for a moment in his blue eyes. “And thanks for allowing me to use the mats, there’s really not enough room on April's roof to really move.” Leo chuckles. “No problem, Skye, you’re welcome to come here anytime you want. Leo tries to avoid looking at her long finely shaped legs. “So, do you have time for a quick lesson?” Skye’s eyes alight with glee. “Of course.”
Leo led her through a few exercises and was once again impressed with her skill. It wouldn’t take long before her fighting skills matched her cousins. Skye was thoroughly enjoying working with Leo. She had also managed to keep the thoughts of what she did last night while thinking about him at bay, mostly. She was glad she was working out, it would give an excuse as to why she was flushed.
Mikey comes into the Dojo, “Heya Babycakes, Leo. I just wanted to let you guys know that Casey just ordered dinner and it will be here in about 30 minutes.” Leo looks at his brother thanks, Mikey. Turning back to Skye he says “Want to pick up where we left off tomorrow?” Skye grins. “Yeah, I’ll be here.” She takes her hair out of her pony and it falls around her shoulders, some of the tendrils slightly curl around her face. “Is there a place I can grab a quick shower before dinner?” Leo points to the back of the Dojo. “Around that corner are shower rooms. I’ll see you at dinner.” Skye nods her thanks and heads towards the showers.
Leo looks at Mikey and sees that his youngest brother is grinning ear to ear. Leo rolls his eyes and starts heading towards the exit of the Dojo, managing not look back at Skye. “What are you smiling about Mikey?” Mikey laughs “Duuuude, I totally saw you spying on Skye.” Leo sputters “I wasn’t spying, I was studying her form.” Mikey laughs. “I’m sure you were bro, I’m sure you were. Leo huffs and nudges his brother with his shoulder. Sighing, Leo shakes his head. He couldn’t wait to work with Skye again tomorrow.
Skye takes the second shower. Walking into the large bathroom she locks the door. She looks around. There was a huge walk-in shower with gray and green tinted cubes of glass that made up one of the walls. Two sinks lined the opposite wall and toilette was nestled into a corner. She undressed and grabbed one of the fluffy towels from the shelf, she hangs it on the hook and walks into the shower. As she’s washing her hair she notices the handrail is crushed in its center and wonders how in the hell it happened.
After dressing and drying her hair a little she heads towards the kitchen. She smiles as she sees everyone gathered around the table, laughing and talking. This was quite the tightly knit group and she felt privileged to be apart of it. April sees her approach and pulls out a chair for her. She sits down and Mikey hands her a plate with a slice of pizza and a generous helping of salad. “Thanks, Mikey, I’m starving.”
Donnie hands her a bottle of water. “Skye, I just want to say again how beautiful your voice is.” Everyone around the table agrees. Skye smiled. “Thanks, guys, I love to sing and I was so happy when Gen asked me to perform at their wedding.” Skye looks away from the group, trying to hide the small jab in her heart as she remembered Josh. “Gen and Raph have something really special. I’m glad they found each other.” Looking back to those around her she smiles.
April nudges her. “So, Skye, Leo said he was pretty impressed with your moves today.” Skye feels her cheeks warm a little. Looking at Leo she sees him smile and nod his head. “Thanks, I’ve been tumbling for a long time and think working with Leo will help me improve even more.” Leo swallows a bite of pizza. “Skye, there’s not much that you need to improve, it’s more reminding your body of the different forms of Karate. I don’t think it’s going to be very long before you could hold your own with us.” Skye beams and her smile makes his heart clench.
Skye takes a few more bites of salad. “So, when I was in the shower I noticed the handrail in there was crushed. What happened?” The room goes silent. Skye wondered if she said something wrong. Suddenly, April breaks the silence by laughing. She’s laughing so hard there are tears at the corner of her eyes. Skye looks at April with her eyebrows raised. April manages to catch her breath. “Okay, alright, I’m done now.” Taking a sip of water she explained, “You see, Raph and Gen, they um, first got together in that shower, and well, Raph’s really strong.” Skye threw back her head and laughed. “O, wow. That’s hilarious.” Leo chuckles quietly and then tries to gain control of the situation. “Yes, I agree it’s pretty funny. Now, Donnie, you were talking about some ideas for a new tracking system?” April rolled her eyes, but everyone accepted the leaders change in topic.
April, Casey, and Skye say goodnight to the guys and Master Splinter and headed back to April’s apartment. April turns in the seat and looks at Skye. “So, you’re going to be training with Leo again tomorrow?” Skye feels her cheeks warm. “Yes, and Donnie is going to show me some of the math he worked out for one of my architectural designs. I’m looking forward to both.” April turns back to Casey and they share a grin.
After Skye left Leo went to meditate. Sitting on the floor her crosses his legs, closes his eyes and starts the chant that has brought him peace so many times. His eyes open and he growls quietly frustration. Closing his eyes once more he willed his mind to quiet. After a few minutes, Leo leaped to his feet and sighed. It was no use. All that he could think about, was Skye. Her confidence and her spirit shone. She was an incredible woman. Could someone like her ever want to be with someone like him? Not having confidence in something was not something that he was used to.
Leo thought back to the dinner and remembered the brief look of sadness that crossed her face when she spoke of Gen and Raph. She had recovered quickly, but the brief shadow that crossed her eyes made him wonder. He blew out his candles. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to meditate, so he headed towards the Dojo. His Katana would be his company for the night.
To be continued...

What’s worth spending on
While it’s never easy to spend big money on clothes, there are some things for which it makes sense to pay a little more. The key is to find high-quality, überversatile items like coats, cocktail dresses, and furs that defy fashion’s mercurial moods. You’ll end up getting so much wear out of these elite pieces that it’s worth the price in the end. Think of it this way: Let’s say you pay $1,000 for a cashmere coat. Since it’s well made, you are likely to have it for a lifetime (okay, at least five years) and wear it about 150 days of the year (mostly in the fall and winter). That equals less than $1.50 per wear! Apply this fashion math to any of your big-ticket purchases. Here’s where it makes sense to splurge.
Coat: A streamlined cut that works over both casual and evening ensembles is worth the money. Look for superior fabric that will hold up to the elements. You want your coat to be a workhorse, but it should always look pristine.
Chunky knits: High-quality cashmere looks better, lasts longer, and feels cozier. In the right shapes — cardigans, crewnecks, turtlenecks, and V-necks — sumptuous sweaters can luxe up any pair of jeans or cords and give a pair of trousers a softer, more laid-back feel.
Blouses: They’re on top, so everyone notices them. Cheap fabrics look tacky and, well, cheap. Choose frills, ruffles, florals, or something sculpted, but whatever style you pick, it’s best to go high-end with this prominent piece.
Fur: Whether real or faux, a mink, sable, or fox (to name a few) jacket, coat, vest, or even scarf is the ultimate in luxury. Indulging in something top-of-the-line is the only way to get a lifetime of wear and then some. (Your children will thank you.) A shorter cut is recommended over full-length so you’ll get better use out of it. (Wear it day and night.)
Cocktail dress: You want to love your dress because you’ll be relying on it quite often, and you’ll want to feel confident and fabulous every time you put it on. It should fit you to perfection and have an air of elegance with a hint of sexiness.
Evening gown: Perhaps you’ll go formal once a year, but when you do, you want to radiate, be a knockout, be a princess for a night — and a short frock just won’t fly. Whether you want something slinky, beaded, or grand, the material, makeup, and fit should be your highest priorities.
Jeans: While, hands down, most people claim to get more wear out of their jeans than any other article of clothing, there is still no need to spend big bucks on your blues. Yes, we all have our favorites that get a lot of use, but we are also fickle and no doubt happier to have more than one cut to choose from — at least a pair to wear with high heels and one to wear with flats. Besides, who needs high-maintenance denim? You won’t think twice about throwing more affordable jeans in the washer and dryer.
Pants: Think of them in terms of dinner-table dressing. No one sees your bottom when you’re sitting at a table, behind a desk, or even having a tête-à-tête at a crowded party. So why empty out your wallet on something that gets so little attention? Spend on your top. If that’s exquisite, it’ll keep all eyes up.
Skirts: Following the same logic as pants, skirts are the second half of your outfit and are a support for your top, therefore they don’t always have to be so pricey. Yet, unlike pants, they have the potential to define you — say, tantalizing in a thigh-high, demure in a dirndl, or powerful in a pencil — so choose your skirt shape wisely.
Button-ups: These no-frills tops aren’t meant to last a lifetime. White is the color of choice for the men’s-style shirt, which means it needs to be laundered a lot. And it requires ironing to keep it neat. Therefore, the shirt gets worn out fast. Since it is best sharp and crisp, you’ll want to restock often.
Lightweight knits: Thin sweaters are ideal for layering, so it’s advisable to have many in your stable. Because you’ll use these as flexible go-to items (over anything, under some things, thrown in your bag in case you get cold), multi-ply, heavy-duty fabrics are not necessary. Fine (and therefore less expensive) wool or cotton works best.
Tees & tanks: This is the most obvious area where you can pinch pennies. There are plenty of brands out there offering well-made tees with appropriate price tags. Look for longer styles for more layering versatility. So, when you find the best fit and fabric, stock up!

The Best White Tanks to Round-Out Your Summer Wardrobe
White tank tops are uniquely versatile but also uniquely problematic: My pajama drawer is crowded with them—stretched out, worn too thin, or lost their luster, turning to a shade of dishwater shade. As an expert in the genre, though, I also have some personal favorites that have outlasted all the others in my main drawer, along with others that rank as my go-to choices when styling for photoshoots.
At first glance, a white tank seems so simple—but there are so, so many variations. Below, a breakdown of my absolute favorite white tank tops you can slip on your body and wear while skipping off into the sunset.
1. The Soft and Stretchy One with the Flattering High Neckline
Bandier’s Wesley Rivington Ribbed Tank
This tank, with a super-flattering cut, is my favorite, no holds barred. It’s alsos as soft as artisanal butter, earning what you might call a “cult following.”
See All 1
2. The One That’s Barely-There
Entireworld’s Organic Cotton Tank
This is the kind of tank you throw on with a pair of jeans to feel effortlessly cool. It’s thin but 100% organic cotton, which keeps it from feeling flimsy. I recommend sizing up!

3. The High-Neck One for Full Coverage
Banana Republic’s Fitted Ribbed Tank
Meet this very classic tank top, thick enough to wear with a nude bra. With extremely fine ribbing, this tidy tank has good coverage.

4. The One You Can Wear with a Bra
Skims’ Cotton Rib Tank
Not quite white, Skim’s ribbed tank has a bit of an elevated feel to it, so you can wear it under a blazer and dress pants and stay work-appropriate. Even sans blazer, the straps are full enough to hide a bra.

5. The Longstanding Classic from High School Days of Yore
Splendid’s Classic Tank
Here’s the exact tank top I had—and still have—from high school. It’s as basic as it gets—in a good way: it’s not ribbed, it has a full coverage back, and it keeps well after many, many, many washes.

6. The One with the Sporty Racerback
Local European’s Rio Tank
The Rio puts a sporty spin on Splendid’s Classic, complete with a flattering racerback. The model on their website ties hers up in the front, so naturally, I want to do the same. I would wear this with a colorful bra (think: olive or eggplant) and maybe a couple of necklaces.

7. The Men’s Ribbed One
The Proper Label’s The Proper Tank Top
Made from responsibly sourced organic cotton and therefore entirely recyclable, the Proper Tank Top is a good staple for anyone—easily paired with dressy trousers or comfy everyday jeans. Unlike many menswear tanks, I’ve found this one keeps its shape after multiple wears.

8. The Budget One that Comes in Bulk
Hanes’ Men’s Comfort Soft Super Value Tank Top
Ten tank tops for $15.98! I keep these in my drawer for everyday wear, sleepwear, and as occasional workout wear in a pinch. These don’t keep as well as some of the others, but it’s a lot of bang for your buck. If you follow the whites-with-whites rule when doing laundry, they’ll stay bright white.
See All 1
9. The Luxurious Silk and Cashmere One
Naadam’s Summer Silk Tank
Eighty-five percent silk and 15 percent cashmere, Naadam’s Summer Silk Tank is a luxurious option, especially for warmer months. It’s slim-fitting, with a fine-ribbed texture. Check out its sibling, the higher-priced, 100 percent cashmere Ribbed Tank Top, too if you can catch it in stock.
See All 1
10. The Sculpting Stretchy One You Can Dress Up
Aritzia’s Babaton Sculpt Knit Long Tank
This is the thickest of the bunch, with a stretchy sculpting material that keeps you feeling secure. It doesn’t ride up (unlike many tanks made with this material), and it’s long enough to keep tucked into pants. Do not make the mistake of putting it in the dryer: hand wash this puppy.
See All 1
11. The Muscle Tank with a Breezier Fit
Madewell’s Whisper Cotton Crewneck Muscle Tank
For a boxier, more casual fit, this crewneck muscle tank is loose and comes in sizes XXS-3X. It’s like the T-shirt of tank tops. Your go-to lunch order, if you will.
See All 1
12. The Fancy Straight-Neck One (with Texture!)
GUERASFATIM’s Boa Tank Top
Not here to be boring, this tank top has a straight-across neckline with a menu of appetite- whetting features like spaghetti straps and a waffle texture. She’s a fancy dish and knows it.
See All 1
13. The One You Can Wear Out (with the Thick Supportive Straps!)
Reformation’s Canyon Top
As evident from the lack of “tank” in its name, this tank top is almost not a tank. Stretchy and tight, this top’s wide straps allows you to wear a bra with thin straps and has the most flattering early-aughts tube top-esque neckline. This one from Eloquii is similar if Reformation’s top is up your alley.
See All 1
14. The One with a Built-in Bra for Active Folk
Bandier’s All Access Session Tank
I love this workout tank because it doesn’t look like a workout tank at all. With no logos and none of that shiny spandex in sight, this ribbed option with a built-in shelf bra is great if you want some extra support but don’t want to compromise on quality.
See All 1
15. A Sweat-Wicking Tank for Working Out… (or not)
Splits59 Double Scoop Tank
While this one does not have a built-in bra, it is thick enough to wear with one underneath. Its scoop back (rather than racerback) makes it look like any ordinary tank, but it sure isn’t: It’s form-fitted, stretchy, ribbed, and opaque, wicking away sweat during any number of activities or workouts.
See All 1
16. The Bodysuit for a Clean Tuck
Good American’s The Modern Tank Body
I rarely wear bodysuits, but a commenter recently asked me for my favorite white bodysuit so I went on a hunt. Good American makes bodysuits that are thick, comfortable, and soft. If you prefer one without a thong, try this one or this one.

My Brother’s Guide to DC Superheroes
He made this as my Hanukkah present and I thought it was too funny not to share :)
A superhero guide from someone who is not at all qualified to make a superhero guide. Here goes nothing!
Superman:
Superman is easily the most overpowered hero in the D.C. universe. He can fly, has laser vision, x-ray vision, super strength, super speed, and probably a lot more. Sporting a blood red cape (Edna Mode would not approve), a suit with giant letter “S” on the front (which totally doesn’t stand for Superman), and red underwear fashionably worn outside his pants (has nobody from earth instructed him on how to correctly wear underwear?), Superman is a very well-dressed hero. His secret identity is a journalist named Clark Kent, who would look exactly like Superman, had it not been for his combing back his curly q and wearing glasses, which make the two personas completely indistinguishable. Superman’s only weakness is a fictional element, which he should really be able to avoid quite easily given his other powers. Although Superman may seem indestructible, he has one key weakness (other than Kryptonite), the sun. The sun is the source of all Superman’s powers, so in order to defeat him, all one must do is destroy the sun. What could go wrong? P.S. Side note, see this website here:
https://what-if.xkcd.com/49/
for what could, and could not go wrong.
Batman:
One of the most famous heroes in D.C. history, Batman is a very successful superhero despite not having any actual powers. However, what he lacks in superpowers, he makes up for in his multi-billion dollar net worth. Similarly to Superman, Batman also wears a cape (tsk tsk tsk), a suit with a bat on the front, a mask, and underwear worn outside his pants (Because if there’s one thing that makes people think, ‘Wow. That guy deserves my respect and admiration,’ it’s wearing underwear outside your pants). Along with the suit, Batman also carries around his handy dandy utility belt. This belt carries everything a hero would possibly ever need, including smoke, gas, and stun pellets, a tranquilizer gun, batarangs (not a typo, this is how they are actually spelled), various types of grenades, tracers, a rebreather (similar to an oxygen tank), glue globules, and much MUCH more (how heavy is this thing? How can he even walk, let alone fight crime with this thing on?). Although Batman’s weaknesses are not clearly stated (a.k.a. I didn’t feel like looking them up), he is just a regular human being, meaning that he is vulnerable to bullets, falling vending machines, flaming cacti, the word “Martha,” and much MUCH more. Batman’s alter-ego is super rich guy Bruce Wayne, a billionaire philanthropist. Overall, Batman is definitely one of the coolest in comic book history.
Cyborg:
Cyborg is a part-human part-robot superhero. Victor Stone was a popular high school football player with a promising future, until he died (but since we obviously both know how, I’ll spare you the details). Luckily, his father resurrected him and replaced many of his limbs with robotic parts (*COUGH* Darth Vader *COUGH*). Armed with a jetpack, arm cannon, and an upbeat catchphrase, Cyborg is a formidable crime fighting robot-person hybrid. Since we both clearly know everything there is to know about Cyborg, I will leave this section off right here, as to not restate what you know...I mean what we both already know.
Green Lantern:
Hal Jordan is a guy with willpower, and he’s in a space police thing and has a ring that can make stuff…I’m gonna be honest, I know basically nothing about Green Lantern, so I’m just gonna move on.
Wonder Woman:
Wonder Woman is a crime fighting Amazonian warrior. Sculpted from clay by Queen Hippolyta (hey wasn’t that the Amazonian from Theseus?) and given life and superhuman abilities by Aphrodite and other Greek gods (isn’t Wikipedia great?), Wonder Woman is a demigod with a list of powers rivaling that of Superman. She has super speed, strength, reflexes, intelligence, longevity, and much more, to compliment her hand-to-hand combat skills. But she has more than just her superhuman abilities. She also has an invisible jet, a lasso that makes people tell the truth, a sword and shield, and wrist deflector shield things (to use the technical term), and probably some more bizzare things I’ve never heard of. Sporting red white and blue colors on her super suit, Wonder Woman’s color scheme seems oddly American for a character based on the Amazons from Greek mythology (another illusion shattered). Wonder Woman’s alter ego is Diana Prince, who probably has a job and/or does some cool stuff. Her weaknesses include...wait a second, does she actually have any weaknesses? At least Superman has kryptonite. Oh my god, she might be more overpowered than Superman! Anyway, with her countless abilities, powers, and skills, Wonder Woman is among the most powerful superheroes in the D.C. universe.
Aquaman:
Aquaman is one of the most...interesting superheroes on this guide. With countless jokes being told at his expense, Aquaman is considered by man to be the viola section of the Justice League. His powers are pretty typical, such as his super strength and super speed, but what stands out is his ability to talk to and control aquatic creatures (you thought Squirrel Girl was scary, just wait until you face Great White Shark Man or Electric Eel Person). In addition to his powers, Aquaman has his trusty pitchfork, which he probably uses for something magicy or sea related. Aquaman’s super suit has a very...interesting color scheme, with a combination of an orange-yellow shirt and green pants that any elementary school art teacher would tell you clash with each other (that is when he chooses to wear a shirt at all). Aquaman’s real name is Arthur Curry, and as King of Atlantis, you might think he has better things to do than fight crime on the surface, but who knows? Maybe Atlantis is run by the citizens, or maybe the King is just a figurehead, and the lionfish and octopi have been ruling this entire time! Anyway, between the pitchfork, mind control, and countless jokes, Aquaman is a very unique superhero.
The Flash:
Bartholomew  “Barry” Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, may or not be the fastest superhero in the entire superhero universe. Although his list of superpowers is not as long as Superman or Wonder Woman’s The Flash is not to be underestimated. The Flash’s most famous superpower is his notorious super speed, which allows him to get anywhere in a Flash (get it?). In addition, he has super agility and stamina, has a healing factor, and is really smart. Using his speed as his main tool for fighting crime, Bartholomew doesn’t really use any weapons or equipment, other than his suit which prevent him from dying when he goes for a run (at least it’s not a cape). This suit is bright red with a yellow lightning symbol on the center picturing a Flash of lightning (get it?). When he isn’t fighting crime, Barty probably spends his time doing super smart sciency things. Of all the heroes on this guide, The Flash is the only one who has had a Netflix original series created about him. With his intelligence, suit, easiness to make puns about, and super speed rivaled by only Superman and Dash from The Incredibles, Bartho is a pretty cool hero.
Robin:
Note: Due to the high number of Robins in the D.C. universe, I will be referring to the hands down best incarnation of Robin ever created, Richard Grayson from the 1966 live action Batman TV series. With that out of the way, let’s begin. Robin, the Boy Wonder, is probably the most well known sidekick in superhero history. Similarly to Batman, he lacks any superpowers. However, what Robin lacks in powers he makes up for in his extraordinary skills, such as acrobatics, hand-to-hand combat, escapology, investigation, and of course, driving (that’s true! Check this website here to see for yourself. Or don’t. Either way. I don’t really care.)
http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Grayson_(Batman_1966_TV_Series)
In addition, Robin also has his own utility belt, equipped with whatever is convenient to the plot. Robin’s suit consists of a red shirt, yellow cape (why a superhero who can’t fly wears a cape is beyond me), and green underwear worn outside his pants (*sigh*). In addition, he wears a black mask to conceal his identity, similarly to the Incredibles (but worse, obviously). Robin’s legal guardian is famous rich guy Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman (*Gasp*)! Although powerless, Robin is a formidable foe, and a trustworthy sidekick. “Holy knit-one purl-two Batman!” (A real quote from the TV show)

2017 sewing round-up
I keep a list as I’m going, with commentary. I got a lot done this year!
* Pink boxy sweater with popsicle motif - really good
* Bowie sweater - really good
* T-shirt update
* Maor Zabar hat
* Hat with silk flower and pink binding for SOS
* Silk painted wall hanging/scarf with orchid
* Silk scarves painted with Julia, Kathryn and Roxane -nothing special but working on techniques.
* Skirt for school - A
* Blouse for school - A- got A overall on class
* Homework projects for school - all but the zippers
* Sun Hat - Pretty nice, but would alter pattern next time - ended up giving it to Kat whose face it suits
* Nightie thing - oh my god what a mess! Wearable but not skilled
* Eat It All skirt - Nice fit, accidentally sewed print wrong way up - very comfortable
* Eat It All tank - good swingy shape, wore it constantly in London. Need to work on my bindings though
* Gin t-shirt update
* Bon Voyage Dress - almost perfect but the strap attachment at the back needs refining
* Board Shorts - decent fit, lots of learning experiences - pretty happy overall - serious improvement over the only other crotch I’ve made
* Mesh top - hahahah it’s a neon mesh top.
* Hayley’s wedding hat - gorgeous. Definitely some of my best millinery work
* Flotsam headband - really a step above, using the sculpted silk technique, beading, and the idea of a flower falling apart. However, petals needed restarching after high humidity
* Floral black over green silk chiffon dress -absolutely dreamy, fit very well, no huge sewing issues A++
* Aqua fur wrap - quick and dirty, but no-one minds the grain running in a funny direction. Used lovely silk charmeuse to line.
* Quick serged black, red, white, grey knit skirt - very nice for a first serger project. Sewed on to plush elastic as wb. Will repeat with other fabrics
* Quick serged black and white and magenta splotch skirt - fixed serger issues, round 1 disaster because cut crossgrain, round 2 lovely and fits well
* Donut print scuba sweater - not bad, left edges raw because lazy, did bell sleeves. Fun and wearable
* drop sleeve sweater for Rowan, well received.
* Tailored J’s new year top for better fit
* New year’s dress - gorgeous
Tally:
15 garments
5 hats
4 t-shirt/tank updates
4 silk painted scarves
2 fashion school classes
So. This year I did a lot compared to other years. What I didn’t do was a new hat collection for SOS. Or find a new job. I did make a bunch of easy, quick wearable things now I’m at that skill level. And a few more complicated and time consuming things. I spent time learning skills from different teachers - both at school and a couple of workshops. I spent some time making art with friends.
Making things kept me sane this year. But it was hard to tell if it was a steady, sustainable pace or if I was hiding in productivity to chase other feelings away. I made a lot of things that were because I wanted the end product and some things that were a joy in the process. I guess I’ll keep trying to find that balance.
