On My List
1  - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 + 1 Masterlist
Author’s Note: I'm gonna just post part 2 now because the response has been overwhelming and also I need to ride this train until it runs outta steam, yfm?
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Eddie Munson
Description: 5 Times Steve and Eddie kiss as friends, and one time they don't.
Warnings/Tags: Everyone lives, Nobody dies, 5+1, Kissing, Fluff, Idiots to Lovers, Friends to Lovers, some pretty brief mentions for drinking, smoking, being inebriated (the gang is drunk here but nothing too bad, just in a fun way), uhhh they're gay your honor, no beta we die like Barb, vague medical issue, fainting, let me know if I missed anything?
Every Breath You Take
Two
The second time Eddie and Steve kiss it’s not really a kiss at all. Robin and Steve are working a shift at Family Video - well, trying to work at least, because Eddie’s there which means everyone’s just sort of dicking around. Steve is processing some returns while Robin and Eddie argue about some sort of incomprehensible music shit. They’re both such fucking nerds about it that it makes Steve’s head hurt hearing them discuss the rhythm vs the beat and the symbolism of the song's accompanying music videos. Steve doesn’t understand why they have to analyze everything, why they can’t just like shit.
He’s not really paying attention until he registers the panic in Robin’s voice as she suddenly pushes off the counter and says Eddie’s voice just a little too frantically. Eddie has slumped slightly forward over the counter, eyes rolled a little too far back, and not responding to her calls for him. Steve immediately jumps into action, thinking about seeing Max in an eerily similar situation, about the fits Will had when he came back. Steve grabs Eddie and lays him gently in the ground, immediately crouching over him to do CPR, not bothering to check for a pulse or breathing. Just starting compressions, counting the way he learned how while hanging out at the hospital waiting for Max and Eddie to wake up. He couldn’t just sit there, and the hospital offered free training courses in shit like this, so he went. And he’s so glad he did as he starts doing rescue breaths on Eddie, ignoring Robin’s “ohmygodohmygodohmy-“ as she struggles to remember Hopper’s number when she finally stops freaking out enough to grab the phone. It doesn’t matter though, because by the time Steve is halfway through his second set of 30, Eddie’s eyes are fluttering open and he’s breathing heavily, but just fine on his own.
“Oh thank fuc-“ Robin starts as she drops to the ground on the other side of Eddie. “Are you okay? What happened? You just-“ Robin starts rambling, panicking that this meant the worst wasn’t over.
“Robs. Give him a minute. Go grab a water bottle,” Steve softly commands, his instinct to protect and help and heal outweighing his ability to do anything else. She does as he asks, and Steve starts to help Eddie move to a sitting position. “Easy does it, man. You can keep laying on the floor for a little if you need.”
“No, no. I’m okay. Sorry. I just, uh, had a minute. It happens sometimes. Happened a lot more when I was little. Stress, ya know? Was real bad right around the time I started living with Wayne. Had a really bad couple of weeks after Bonham died, too. But since, ya know- everything, it’s been happening again.” Eddie explains, rubbing the middle of his chest where Steve had previously been pressing. Steve just nods as Robin hands him the water bottle, watching, waiting for everyone’s adrenaline to slow.
“Jesus, dude. I think you almost cracked a rib. Way to put those muscles to use,” Eddie jokes, in between sips. Steve cracks a smile, but his eyes are still filled with worry. “Thank you for trying to save my ass, but in the future, I’m just fainting. No CPR required. Just make sure I don’t hit my head on the way down,” Eddie explains.
“Sorry,” now it’s Steve’s turn to ramble. “I just went into panic mode and I didn’t even check for a pulse or-“
“Don’t sweat it.” Eddie cuts him off. “I appreciate you wanting to save my life. Again.” He adds that last part a little quieter, knocking shoulders with Harrington. As Steve helps him to his feet, he adds even quieter “You sure you didn’t just wanna plant one on me again, Big Boy?” And Robin is too busy fussing over Eddie and asking questions about his fainting and yelling at him for not warning anybody that they’re both too busy to notice the blush that creeps up Steve’s neck and the way he flexes his hands like touching Eddie hurt.
A/N: Not so fun fact! John Bonham, drummer for Led Zeppelin died in 1980 after a heavy drinking binge. This would have been absolutely devastating to a young Eddie Munson, as it was for everyone else with ears and a soul at the time.
Also, Steve does the Pride and Prejudice hand flex every time he touches Eddie. Convince me otherwise. I dare you.

Steddie with those tap vibration bracelets for couples | Angst with a surprise ending
Eddie had been dead for over a year. After Dustin had to leave him in the Upside Down, they tried to look for him. But Eddie’s body was just…gone. Steve didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye. No one thought he would have a reason to. No one knew what they did behind closed doors, hands under each other’s shirts, lips moving together.
Steve was the one who had the idea to get tap bracelets in the first place. They were something you could keep hidden, in your pocket or on your wrist under a long sleeve. Whenever they were thinking about each other, they could tap the bracelet and it would vibrate the other person’s. It started as a cute gesture but it soon turned to a feature they used for survival going into the Upside Down.
“Tell me when you’re okay. 1 tap for safe, 2 for danger. Okay?”
“Steve, I could do Morse code. I know SOS.”
“Eddie, there won’t be time. Please, just follow the system.”
But Eddie didn’t follow the system. He didn’t fucking follow it, and instead of running he tried to be a goddamn hero. He didn’t tap the bracelet before he went after the bats, didn’t tell Steve he was in danger.
Steve would never forget the scream of absolute anguish as the bats tore into Eddie’s flesh. He knew the sound came from him. He knew his voice backwards and forwards. He would never forget the rapid vibrations on his wrist in the moments before he heard Dustin yell.
In that moment, he knew his Eddie was gone. Eddie had spent his last moments, his last spurts of energy thinking of Steve. Letting Steve know he loved him, that he was always with him.
Steve hadn’t taken off the bracelet ever since, not even to shower. He kept it right on his wrist, covered with saran wrap like you’d bag a cast. He never wanted to be separated from him. He knew that he’d never be able to feel Eddie’s touch again, but bracelet’s presence was enough to keep the grief at bay. Every now and then, he’d touch it a few times. Hoping, praying Eddie’s soul could feel it. He never told the party about him and Eddie’s relationship. Never opened up, really, about what they were to each other.
No one understood why he had shut down after Vecna was defeated. They assumed it was because he was mentally and physically exhausted. But it was so much more than that. It was grief. He’d lost his person, he was sure that Eddie had been the one. And he lost him. The only person he ever told was Robin.
He came out to the party as bisexual about a year after Eddie’s death, but it didn’t ring a bell for any of them still. Not even Dustin, who had always been suspicious of his and Eddie’s closeness.
Years went by and he still hadn’t taken off the bracelet, even though was with someone new. They had only been together a few days before Steve called it off. It had taken so long to get over losing Eddie, but something deep inside of him chewed. And chewed.
Something just didn’t feel right about this new person. It wasn’t her fault, Steve just couldn’t do it.
One night, Steve stayed awake a little longer than he normally did, reading some book series Eddie had left in his room before all the shit went down, Lord of the Rings.
His attention was drawn away by a buzzing feeling against his wrist. He looked down at it to see the gold bracelet lighting up and vibrating. He put the book down and hesitantly tapped back. This couldn’t be happening. Not after all these years. Something in the Upside Down must have gotten ahold of the bracelet. But nothing could have prepared Steve for what he felt next. Sharp, punctuated taps. He focused, hard, trying to figure out what it meant. He eventually made it out. It was Morse code, 3 letters, repeating themselves over and over.
“S. O. S.”
Eddie was alive, and he needed help.

thinking about Eddie, who because of the upsidedown was in a coma for effectively the rest of '86. When he woke up he had to re-learn a lot of shit, since even after he could open his eyes and sit up, moving was still hard.
Steve and Robin go with him to all of his PT appointments as he works on moving and standing up, but not walking yet. The therapist overhears him complaining to Steve about how he misses writing, since his hands are too shaky for the words to be legible.
She tells him that if he wants to write better he should practice more, and maybe pick something else up that requires small, repetitive movements, like sewing or crocheting.
Eddie is about to open his mouth to say that sewing might be a good idea, because he can work on putting his old patches onto the new vest that the kids bought him as a "we're glad you're not dead present", when Robin comes back from the bathroom and pipes up that she has some crocheting stuff from when she and Steve tried to learn together a few years back, and that's the end of that conversation.
crocheting is his least favorite part of the night, even if Robin and Steve are patient and let him pick the movie in the background and don't get frustrated when he drops the hook between the couch cushions for the thirtieth time in an hour.
Eventually he gets the hang of it, but--out of spite--refuses to make anything other than a very long line with his yarn, telling Steve and Robin he's going to strangle them with it when he's done, because crocheting "is literally the least metal thing in the world."
He stops threatening to strangle Robin after she makes him a little bat.

(steddie | 1.8k | mature | tags: werewolf!Steve, human!Eddie, domesticity, soft boys being soft, bathing together | @steddielovemonth prompt Love is saving the last bite for them by @acasualcrossfade | Part 2 to Safe Haven | AO3)
Tumblr media
It turns out that even their shared body heat and Steve's elevated body temperature are not enough to withstand an extended make-out session out in the snow.
Buck naked.
If he was in his fur it would be fine, but then he couldn't do that to Eddie with his tongue. Or grind in his lap with Eddie's calloused fingers gripping his waist, leaving marks on his flesh.
"You're shivering, Stevie." Eddie says, his big hands rubbing up and down his back and arms to warm him. Steve's wolf purrs at the gesture, as does his human side, for once in complete sync when it comes to his human.
His mate.
Too soon, Harrington. Too soon.
"We should get back inside, warm you up." Eddie adds, moving to sit up, but Steve shakes his head and pushes closer to Eddie, hiding his face at the junction of his neck and shoulder. He doesn't want this moment to end, because what if Eddie changes his mind as soon as Steve lets go of him? Steve can't risk that.
Not now.
Not after losing everything.
Not after just finding Eddie.
Eddie laughs indulgently at his behavior and takes him in his arms again. "You're being ridiculous. Come on, sweetheart, let's go inside. You're still recovering, you can't get sick. Let me make you some breakfast, okay?" And when Steve still makes no move to let Eddie go, Eddie whispers in his ear, "I can still feed you with my hand if you want."
This makes Steve lean back and look at Eddie with big eyes, and Eddie must think it's because Steve is horrified. He hastily backpedals. "I mean, uh, that was... a joke? I don't have to -"
Steve kisses him, partly to cut off his nervous ramblings, mostly because Eddie just offered to feed him. Not the injured wolf he found in the woods, but the human Steve. To continue their routine, to keep Steve so close to him. Eddie may not know what sharing food like this means to his kind, but his inner wolf doesn't care.
It also reminds him that he has brought a gift to his mate. Steve has provided for his mate and he can't wait to show it, even if it means getting out of Eddie's arms and off his lap.
"Come on, I brought you something," Steve says, rising to his feet. It brings Eddie's face to eye level with his cock and Steve would be lying if he said it didn't make him feel smug to see Eddie's eyes widen and his tongue flick out to lick his lips.
"Eddie?" He asks coyly, the grin on his face giving him away. "You comin' or what?"
"Huh?" Eddie asks, sounding dazed before his eyes snap up to Steve's and color rushes up his throat and onto his pale cheeks. "Oh God, yeah, um, I'm comin', yeah, of course I'm comin'," he stutters, scrambling to his feet as well.
Steve turns and leads Eddie to where he left the deer, his hips swaying in a way he knows makes his ass look even better, and he swears he can feel Eddie's eyes on him the whole way.
Eddie's gasp when they finally reach the carcass comes late, proof enough for Steve that Eddie had his mind on something else instead of where they were going.
"Steve, did you...?" Eddie asks, his eyes fixed on the dead deer. Suddenly Steve isn't so sure Eddie would appreciate him doing this because he said he hated the thought of hurting an animal. But they need to eat, and meat is the best way to do that during a winter as long and hard as this one.
"I killed it as quickly and painlessly as I could, I promise, Eddie. I know you didn't want to hurt a living thing, so I did it for you. So you didn't have to."
The silence that follows Steve's statement makes the fear settle heavily in his stomach. What if his mate rejects his offer? What if his mate rejects him?
It would finish the job the hunters couldn't.
"Stevie," Eddie starts and then stops, the anticipation building inside Steve until he's ready to snap, to fall to his knees and beg Eddie. For what he doesn't even know. Forgiveness? Love? Forever?
He's pulled out of his spiraling thoughts by warm arms wrapped around his waist and Eddie's scent enveloping him. "You went to hunt when you're still healing? For me? Just because I said I didn't want to kill?" And when Steve nods, Eddie takes his face between his palms and kisses him.
Deeply. Decisive. Devoted.
Eddie kisses him as if he knows what this means to Steve.
Like he wants it, too.
God, Steve hopes he does.
They keep kissing until another shiver, this time more violent, runs down Steve's body where it's pressed against Eddie's.
"Come on, let's get this inside and I'll make us some breakfast before I deal with this."
"I can help you," Steve insists and Eddie kisses the tip of his nose.
"I know. Later. Right now I need to know that you're not pushing yourself any more than you already have."
And Eddie is right, Steve feels the events of the last few hours catching up with him. The hunt, dragging the heavy carcass back to the cabin, the shift. So he lets Eddie pick up the body and sling it over his shoulder in a display of strength that makes Steve's stomach flutter.
Steve's mate is not only kind and caring, but also strong.
His wolf purrs.
His heart flutters.
His cheeks heat up.
Eddie reaches for Steve's hand, twines their fingers together, and they walk back to the cabin, hand in hand.
Tumblr media
Inside, Eddie disposes of the body at the bottom of the stairs to the cellar before making them breakfast, while Steve finds something to wear in Eddie's closet. It smells like Eddie, and Steve's wolf preens at the thought of smelling like Eddie and putting his own scent on Eddie's clothes.
They eat wrapped in a blanket on their mattress, the roaring fire and their shared body heat warming Steve to the core. He runs hot anyway, and Eddie has already stripped down to his underwear under the blanket, claiming it will help Steve warm up faster.
Steve doesn't complain, not if it means he gets to feel Eddie's skin on his own after he follows suit and loses his (Eddie's) shirt as well. Skin on skin, of course, helps him warm up faster after all.
When they're done, they both silently agree to lie down for a while, exhausted from all that has happened. Without having to talk about it, Steve lies down first and Eddie presses himself against his back, his arms wrapping around him and pulling him against Eddie's front. It's the same position they've been sleeping in for weeks.
Only now Steve can feel Eddie's lips against his nape and he can lace their fingers together to press their joined hands against his chest, right over his heart.
It's the safest he's felt since his whole life went up in flames. It's safer than he ever expected to feel again.
Tumblr media
As he promised, Steve helps Eddie pull the skin off the dear and cut it up so they can rub it in salt and preserve it. Steve has done this a thousand times at home and knows what he's doing, so after assuring Eddie several times that he feels better after their nap, Eddie takes a big chunk of the fresh meat and goes to work preparing their dinner.
He turns it into a hearty stew with carrots and potatoes and other root vegetables.
By the time Steve is done putting the last of the meat away and cleaning and preparing the skin so they can use it later, he's exhausted again but feels a deep sense of satisfaction.
As the stew cooks on the stove, Eddie joins him to admire his work.
"Wow, Stevie, you did a great job. It probably would have taken me all night. Wayne's usually the one who does this kind of stuff."
Eddie sounds sad when he mentions his uncle and Steve thinks, not for the first time, that something might have happened to him in town. He thinks that soon Eddie will want to go there and check on him, and he will go with him. Even if it terrifies him.
"I heated some water, so how about we let the stew simmer and you go upstairs and take a nice hot bath? You kind of smell like a slaughterhouse."
"Are you saying I stink?" Steve demands in mock offense.
Eddie walks up to him and brings his mouth close to Steve's ear. His hot breath makes Steve shiver as Eddie says, "I'm saying I want to give you a bath if you let me."
It's a losing battle not to run up the stairs to get into the tub.
Tumblr media
In the end, Steve convinces Eddie to join him in the small tub. It's a tight fit, but Steve doesn't mind. They clean each other with gentle hands that soon become adventurous.
The smell of their shared pleasure makes Steve's inner wolf roll over with joy, contentment radiating from him. Steve shares the sentiment as he lies in Eddie's arms, sated and happy.
Afterwards, they both change into clean clothes and sit back down at the table to enjoy their dinner.
It's delicious, and soon Steve is finishing his third plate.
Only Eddie's amused chuckle reminds him that Eddie is probably not used to a wolf's appetite. He blushes as he realizes that he has just inhaled the food Eddie has so painstakingly prepared for them like a ravenous animal.
"Oh God," Steve groans in embarrassment and buries his face in his hands.
"Hey, no, don't look like that. I take that as a compliment, Stevie." Eddie assures him as he pulls Steve's hands away from his face so he can look him in the eye. "It makes me very happy to know that you like my food."
Steve gives him a tentative smile and says, "Too bad it's gone," only half joking.
Eddie's answering grin is delighted, dimples carved deep into his cheeks and wrinkles forming at the corners of his eyes.
"Oh, but it ain't. I saved you the last bite, baby."
With that, Eddie gets up from the table and walks over to the stove, pulling one last piece of meat out of the pot with his fingers. Turning back to Steve, he walks back to the table, but instead of sitting in his chair, he sits on Steve's lap.
"I promised to feed you, didn't I?" he says, his voice deep and his tone hungry as he lifts the meat right to Steve's lips. He doesn't let go of it immediately when Steve tries to take it from him, but rather pushes his fingers into Steve's mouth so that Steve can lick the remaining sauce off his fingers.
Steve only lets them slip out of his mouth when the last trace of meat and sauce is gone.
"Fuck, I could eat you alive," he says as he stares up at Eddie in awe.
Eddie smirks down at him. "What are you waiting for, big boy? You can always have the last bite of me."

Saying Something Stupid
A Valentine’s Day gift for @stevethehairington 💕
(read it on AO3!)
Steve looks at Eddie, and that’s all Eddie ever wants. “You hate Valentine’s Day.” He says softly, like a half-accusation.
"Not if it's with you."
-
or, Eddie hates Valentine's Day. It's a capitalist, consumerist, corporate sell-out of a holiday and celebrating it doesn't mean shit.
Until he has Steve Harrington to spend it with. And he's going to do his damnedest to give Steve the Valentine's day he deserves.

Cycle of hurt no one asked for:
(It gets better at the end I promise)
Steve likes Eddie and only talks to Robin about it.
Robin likes Nancy but Nancy is always hanging out with Eddie ever since her and Johnathan officially split.
Eddie likes Steve but thinks Steve is straight, he thinks/knows Robin is queer too but she's Steve's best friend so he feels like he can't talk to her.
Nancy notices that something is weighing on Eddie and patiently needles him into opening up to her until he admits he has feelings for Steve.
Nancy wants to tell him to go to Steve but she's not sure if her desire to push Steve and Eddie together is optimistic or selfish because while she knows she wants to see Steve happy she's not sure if that's because she still cares about him or because she still feels guilty over breaking his heart. And another deeper part of her wonders if she's hoping Steve is queer because she wants Eddie to have a shot, she does want good things for Eddie even if they haven't been friends for long, or if she's hoping that if Steve is queer and he and Robin are so close than maybe that means Robin could be queer too? and maybe that would mean Nancy had a shot with Robin? But even if they are both queer that doesn't mean that they aren't involved with each other, in which case would Nancy just be using Eddie to try and force a wedge between Steve and Robin? That wouldn't be fair to Eddie. In the end Nancy usually just ends up sitting with Eddie's head in her lap slowly stroking his hair while he sobs.
Robin is pretty sure Eddie is gay, and she wants to tell Steve but it's not her place to spread secrets that aren't hers and she doesn't actually know it for a fact so if she told Steve and it turned out she was wrong than she would blame herself for his disappointment after the fact. She wants to be optimistic and tell Steve to go after what he wants, but she also feels guilty because she likes Nancy (her best friends ex girlfriend for goodness sake!) and she's afraid that she might just be trying to get Steve to go after somebody else for fear of Nancy deciding that she wants him back now that they're both available.
Eddie feels awful for breaking and admitting his feelings for Steve to Nancy because she's the last person who should have to hear about how desirable Steve Harrington is, especially after they tried to start things up again and it (as far as he can tell) made her dump her boyfriend from Cali just for circumstances to ruin her and Steve's chance at being happy together for the second time around. But with Robin out of the question there's few to no people he can talk to about his crush on the seemingly straightest guy in Hawkins, and he needs some means of venting his feelings because every time he sees Steve gently chastise one of their kids (who have taken to referring to Steve and him as 'mom and dad') only to ruffle their hair with a smile before turning to lean against Robin like they've been married for ten years, Eddie feels like all of the oxygen is being sucked out of his lungs.
Steve thinks that Eddie and Nancy are dating now and that kinda makes sense, Jonathan had kind of a loner-who-only-wears-dark-clothes thing going too, so maybe Nancy has a type. A type that is distinctly not-steve in its characterization, but whatever. He had reached out for and clung onto Nancy during this most recent bout with the upside down and for a minute they both thought they might get back together, only for them both to realize as the adrenaline wore off that neither of them really wanted it. It was familiar and comforting in a difficult time and that time was past. Steve had wondered if Nancy and Johnathan would have broken up at all if he hadn't made any advances on Nancy. She insisted that the writing had been on the wall for them for a while by then but Steve still felt guilty that his actions might have been the final nail in that coffin. And now here he was crushing on Nancy's new boyfriend, or at least a guy she seemed to like, as if he weren't already personally responsible for her last 2-2 1/2 failed relationships (if he counts himself twice). So he keeps his feelings to himself even throughout Robins gentle insinuations that 'if Steve is Bi then why can't Eddie be?' Because he can't get near another relationship of Nancy's under any circumstances. Even if watching Eddie fight for his life in the hospital had made Steve feel like he would die if Eddie didn't make it.
The truth is Nancy and Steve really did reach the mutual conclusion that they weren't right for each other and that Nancy broke it off with Johnathan both because long distance was killing them and because she realized she was ready to be single and by herself for awhile. She didn't realize until later that the fact that she couldn't get the image of Robin throwing molotov cocktails out of her head was something more than a 'girl-crush'.
Robin eventually decides to find out for herself if Eddie is gay in the only way she can think of that won't either out Steve or just put Eddie on the defensive. She walks up to Eddie and informs him that 'she is a lesbian and she hopes he's okay with that because it looks like he's going to be a member of the Party for a long time.'
Eddie is torn between being elated that the only other gay person in Hawkins is opening up to him and guilt that he wants to cling to her and spill all his secrets, because she's Steve's confidant and not his. But, one grand gesture of trust demands another, so Eddie reciprocates and tells Robin he's gay.
Robin nearly collapsed in on herself with the relief of it. She tries to tell herself it's because this means she's not the only person like her in the whole town (even though she already knows Steve is bi) but she can't deny that Steve's insistence that Eddie and Nancy were an item had been getting into her head and it was nice to hear that wasn't the case.
"So, you and Nancy, that's not romantic? Or are you bisexual?"
"Oh, nonono, Wheeler's a good listener and all, but I don't go for chicks"
"Oh, okay, that's cool"
Eddie lifts a brow at the way Robin stares at the ground while she says it.
"What about you and Harrington?"
"Oh God NO, I love Steve but, he's like my brother."
"Oh okay, good"
"Good?"
"Um, yeah, I mean, you deserve a good support system. It's good to hear you two are so close"
"Right." Robin looks unconvinced
"Strange to think though, Steve Harrington being such close friends with a member of the opposite sex, tell me why does he think it is that you're immune to his charms?"
"You think Steve is charming?"
Eddie turns and starts to walk away without another word and Robin has to chase him down to continue the conversation
"Kidding jeez, Steve knows. He was actually the first person that I told"
"Wow, bold move Buckley. Wouldn't have been my first choice straight out of the gate, but glad to hear it worked out"
"Yeah, he's actually really cool, if you ever wanted to talk to him about it"
"Why would I want to do that, between you and Nance I think I'm set"
Robin's eyes widen
"So, Nancy knows? About you?"
"Oh, Nancy knows everything, that poor woman is thoroughly versed in every thought that passes through my head, she's basically my conscience and at least 45% of my self control"
Robin laughed and so did Eddie, then in a movement that neither is certain who initiated or why, the they end up hugging each other tightly for at least a minute and possibly several.
They're both sniffling and swiping at their eyes when they finally break apart. They awkwardly look at the ground and play with their rings and oversized sleeves respectively until one of them finally breaks the silence
"So, he was really cool with it? Just like that?"
Eddie tries to keep his tone even.
"He was, I really think you should talk to him, I mean, it couldn't hurt to have one more friend in your corner right?"
"I guess not. Though in that case you should probably talk to Wheeler too"
"Yeah, I guess I should"
Eddie confides in Steve nearly a week later, after literally holding Robins hand as she confessed to Nancy and after the two of them spent several days talking Eddie down from the various worst case scenarios that he threw out each time they suggested that he and the other man should talk. Eddie comes to the video store on a day when Robin is working so she can provide moral support/stare him down if he starts to chicken out. His concerns turn out to have been unwarranted when Steve's eyes go wide and he almost immediately fires back with the fact that he's bisexual.
Steve asks Eddie on a date less than a week later.
Nancy's sexuality crisis is short lived and prosessed in enough time that she asks Robin out on nearly the same day.
*I don't have time or drive to write this in any more depth so feel free to run with this or any ideas there in if you like*

that's not why you save the wedding cake
another @steddiemicrofic post, but with spice this time, for the prompt cake wc: 311 rating: e cw: food tags: food being consumed during sex (author does not condone this as it is more annoying than fun 99% of the time), married-ish steddie
"This is…stickier than I imagined," Steve said, mouth turning down in a frown.
"You thought me putting icing on your dick would be…not sticky?"
"I guess I just expected it to not be this messy? Maybe I just thought you'd clean it off faster."
It was a genuine thought, not to push Eddie to do anything faster than he was, but Eddie huffed and crossed his arms anyway.
"So I'm not moving fast enough for you?"
"What? No! I just-" Steve groaned as Eddie's tongue ran from the tip of his cock to the base and back up, effectively cleaning up some of the icing that was lathered on his length.
"Is that better?" Eddie looked up at him with a knowing smile.
"Yes, fine, it's better. Keep going," Steve started to beg.
Eddie liked to tease, but now wasn't the time.
Now was the time to lick every bit of icing off Steve's cock until he was more of an emotional mess than an actual mess.
He still took his time, savoring the sweet buttercream flavor that still had a hint of Steve.
Steve whined and moaned below him, arching his back when Eddie sucked on just the tip, hands fisting the sheets to keep from coming before Eddie was finished.
"There. All clean," Eddie finally said, minutes or hours or days later.
He glanced at the bedside table where the plate with a slice of their wedding cake sat, now with hardly any icing left on it.
"Should we eat the cake first?" Eddie asked, grinning mischievously at Steve.
"Seriously?"
"This probably isn't what they meant about eating a slice on your first anniversary," Eddie said.
"According to the law, we aren't even supposed to be married, so," Steve shrugged.
They sat in bed naked and hard, eating the large slice of vanilla cake from their backyard wedding together.

Day Four of @steddie-week - familiar / hurt-comfort / here come the tears
find the previous day here :)
Steve was sitting on the couch in the Munson trailer, a place he now called his second home, with tears in his eyes and a heavy heart. He had his knees curled up to his chest, and he was chewing on his thumbnail, listening to the broken sobs of Eddie down the hall.
Today was a bad day. They’d gotten home from Eddie’s physiotherapy appointment this morning feeling like shit. Eddie wasn’t making much progress. He still couldn’t walk without leaning on something, and he didn’t like using his walker. But today he kept trying to walk through the beams on either side of him in the appointment, and his legs kept buckling. He got angry with himself, blamed himself for the lack of progress, and called himself some really shitty things that Steve just couldn’t stand for.
Then, Eddie tried getting his guitar down on his own, and he couldn’t quite reach it from the bed, and he tore a stitch open. He wouldn’t let Steve fix it because when he was really upset with himself, he wouldn’t let anyone touch him. It made him feel worse. It took two hours of tear filled conversation and arguing on opposite sides of the room for Eddie to let Steve help him.
Then Eddie had gone to sleep, and slept awkwardly on his bad shoulder, and woke up in a shit mood, and it didn’t help that he hadn’t eaten since last night either. Steve tried his best to stay calm and to be responsible. Eddie’s drastic mood swings and bratty behaviour were a tri-weekly occurrence at least. Healing was a hard task, and the truth about Chrissy had only recently properly started to sink in, the initial shock of it all long gone.
Steve hated seeing Eddie hurt like this, and he hated not knowing how to help him.
So he just stayed calm and listened. He listened for the things that Eddie didn’t say to understand what he actually needed.
After Steve had gotten some food in him, and he’d finished the washing up, he came back into the room to find Eddie looking at the page of the Cheer Squad in last year's yearbook. He was snotty nosed and distraught. Steve thought he’d done a good job of hiding that last night, but apparently not.
Eddie would often look at it and make himself feel worse about it, he’d tell Steve horrible things about himself and how he deserved to feel like this, and how it was his fault and Steve would feel sick listening to it. He couldn’t stand to hear Eddie talk about himself in such a disgusting way, he deserved so much more. So after a talk with Wayne, they decided to hide the year book and only leave it lying around when Eddie was in a well enough headspace to look at it and openly communicate his feelings. When he was in a space where accepting love and kindness and compassion was a possibility.
Today most certainly wasn’t one of those days, and so when he saw the book in Eddie’s hands he couldn’t help the anger that bubbled up inside him. He was already in defence mode, ready to fight whatever horrible shit Eddie was about to say.
“Should have been me.” He said simply, his voice a little taught, “Should have been my bones breaking.”
“No, it shouldn’t have.” Steve pressed back, moving to take the book away.
Eddie fired him an angry eye and moved it out of Steves grasp, “Should have been me that fucking died!” He glared at Steve and pushed him away, “You should have let me die!”
“I’d never fucking do that.” Steve tried to steal the book back.
“Fucking hell- you should have left me- why’d you save me?” Eddie sobbed, still angry, “You stupid fucking- I deserve to be dead. How could you love me? How? I’m- I’m a fucking murderer.”
“No you’re not.” Steve said simply, this bit practically rehearsed, he tried for the book again, “You’re not a murderer, I love you. I love you.”
“You shouldn’t!” Eddie cried, pulling the book away again, “Let me fucking die- just kill me. Let it be me.”
“It’s too goddamn late for that, Eddie. S’not gonna do shit.” Steve managed to get a hand on the book and they fought over it for a moment.
“She deserved more-”
“You deserve more-”
Steve tugged and then they heard a rip.
Steve stumbled back and looked at his hand to find the page Eddie was looking at in his hand, the big portrait of Chrissy with the title ‘Cheer Captain’ ripped clean in half. Steve had the top of her ponytail and one bright eye, the corner of her smile and a pearl earring in his hand, and Eddie had the book that still had her bright smile, a sparkling eye, and her shoulders fit in her cheer uniform.
Eddie made a broken sound, pure hurt.
Steve felt so guilty.
“I’m- I’m sorry.” He launched himself forward, trying to stick the pages back together, “I- I’ll fix it, I’ll-”
“Get out.” Eddie said, his voice dripping with anger, but it was low. So low it was scary. Like Steve had just done the worst thing in the world and there was no coming back from this. Steve froze, blinking wet eyes at Eddie. Eddie flashed him a mean snarl and shouted, “Get out!”
Steve stumbled back, his tone shocking him. He looked at Eddie for a second, feeling more guilty than ever, and then he ran.
He rushed out of the room, and shut the door, and curled in on himself on the couch, and listened to Eddie’s crying as a punishment. Because he deserved it. He just ruined the one thing Eddie had of her.
“You okay, son?” Wayne's voice snapped Steve from his daze, he didn’t hear the man get in from visiting Scott, and he didn’t realise Eddie’s crying had quieted.
How long has he been sitting here?
Steve shook his head.
“What’s going on?”
“I ripped it.” Steve said.
“What, Steve?” Wayne asked, moving to sit on the coffee table in front of him.
“He- he was having a bad day, so I hid the book- but- but he found it, and I tried to take it, but I-” He swallowed the lump in his throat, “Her face. I- I ripped it. I broke it. I ruined it!”
Wayne took a deep breath in and put his hand over Steves, “Shh, kid.”
“He hates me.” Steve mutered, eyes watering again.
“No, he aint.” He said, sure of it, “He’s just hurtin. It’s a picture, Steve. We can get ‘im another one.”
“I’m sorry.” Steve sobbed.
“Ain't nothin’ to be sorry ‘bout, son.” Wayne sighed and fluffed Steve’s hair, “You was just tryna do the right thing. You do too much good for that boy- you ain’t needa be sorry ‘bout nothin’, ‘kay?”
Steve nodded and sobbed some more.
“Gimme a minute.” Wayne sighed and stood up, “I’ll talk some sense into ‘im.”
Steve nodded again, and watched Wayne walk down the hall and quietly slip into Eddie’s room. He heard some muffled talking, some raised voices but he couldn’t make out the words, and then he heard crying. Eddie’s crying again.
Steve hated being the reason for Eddie’s tears so much.
He looked up to see Wayne standing in the doorway of Eddie’s room, and then he was being waved down the hall.
Steve's feet carried him there before he could even process it. Wayne pushed open the door and slung an arm around Steve's shoulders, pulling them both inside. Eddie looked so broken, his cheeks red and eyes puffy, snot around his nose, hugging his knees. He looked so beautiful. Eddie always looked so beautiful.
“Ed?” Wayne asked, giving Eddie a particular look. It was one a father would give their child when they were subtly trying to get them to do or say something, so it looked like it was coming from the child. An encouraging sort of look.
“I’m sorry.” Eddie muttered, his voice very small and broken.
“No- no, I’m sorry.” Steve started, and Wayne held him a little tighter.
“No.” Eddie swallowed and blinked up at Steve with his big, wet, baby cow eyes, “I’m sorry for saying those things again. You- you know I didn’t mean it.”
Steve nodded.
“I don’t want to die- I’m… I’m so sorry I said that to you.”
“It’s okay.” Steve felt a few hot tears run down his cheeks, “I know you didn’t mean them.”
Eddie nodded, “And I’m sorry I yelled at you.”
“I’m sorry I broke your picture-”
“It’s just a picture.” Eddie smiled small, “I can find another one.”
“Still.” Steve muttered and swallowed the lump in his throat.
Eddie shook his head, “You were just trying to help me.” He sniffled, “I love you so much.”
Steve sobbed and took a little step forward. Wayne gave him a little pet on the back and Steve collapsed onto the bed and cradled Eddie to his chest, “I love you so much, too.” He kissed his part.
Eddie sobbed into his chest and started to soak his - Eddie’s - shirt. Steve held him and pracally cried enough to wash Eddie’s greasy hair at this point. They heard Wayne sigh and then the door clicked shut, and they knew they had their privacy again.
“You deserve better.” Eddie muttered.
“How could you say that?” Steve choked out, holding him impossibly tighter, “You are everything to me.”
“You deserve better than to love someone that has a death wish any time things get a little hard.” Eddie curled his arms around Steve and pressed his face into the crevice of his neck, “You deserve someone who doesn’t hurt you every time you try to help them.”
Steve kissed the top of his head, “It’s not every time.”
Eddie choked on a small laugh, “You shouldn’t have to love someone so broken, Stevie.”
Steve pulled back and wiped Eddie’s tears with his thumbs, “You’re not broken, love. You’re just healing, and so am I, and that’s hard. It’s so hard.” He kissed Eddie on the forehead, “I’m so proud of you. You’re doing the best you can, and that’s amazing, and I’m going to love you every step of the way, baby.”
“You shouldn’t have to-”
“But I do.” Steve said simply, and then he kissed him, “And I will, forever. I couldn’t not love you if I tried.”
Eddie sobbed and fell back into Steves arms, and he pressed little wet kisses all over Steve's shoulder and neck, “I love you- I love you so much.”
“I love you so much too.” Steve sifted his fingers through Eddie’s hair and scrunched at his scalp, the way he knew Eddie loved the most, “You’re gonna be okay, love. I’ve got you.”
Eddie clung onto him for a while longer, and eventually the crying stopped and they were just calm again. They weren’t sure how much time had passed, but eventually there was a soft knock on the door and Wayne was poking his head in.
“I heard it had gone quiet in here for a while.” He whispered, “Feeling a bit better?”
They both nodded.
“You boys are good.” Wayne smiled, “I ah… I gave Joyce Byers a call to see what I could do about the photo, and she gave Nancy a call, since she’s on the news paper, and she’s gonna try and get you a copy or two of Chrissy’s picture.”
Eddie sobbed again, lifting his head to rest his chin on Steve's shoulder to look at his uncle, “Thank you.”
“Ain’t no problem.” He huffed happily, “Might be a little while ‘fore she can get it, so I trieda tape it back together.”
He held out a page that had a clear big rip through it, and tape stuck in all different directions over it. Steve was very fond of Uncle Wayne, the man was truely sweet as fucking sugar, in the weirdest ways. Much like Eddie, in that sense. He could tell why Eddie is the way he is.
Eddie smiled and almost laughed a little as he reached out for the page, “Thank you, Wayne.”
“Ain’t nothin’ special, but, she’ll do.” He shrugged.
“She’ll do.” Eddie smiled.
“C’mon, got dinner reader and Rocky Horror loaded up for ya boys.”
“We’ll be out in a sec.”
“Thank you, Wayne.” Steve smiled at the man before he left the room.
Eddie wiped his eyes and looked at the picture, sitting back up before he handed it to Steve, “Take it.”
“Still not feeling too good?”
Eddie shook his head, “Maybe tomorrow.”
“Maybe tomorrow.” Steve smiled and took the picture, “You hungry.”
Eddie nodded.
“Okay.” Steve put the picture down on the bed, making a mental note to come back for it in a second. He hopped up and reached a hand out for Eddie, “Come here, love.”
Eddie smiled and shuffled forward until he had both hands in Steves. Steve pulled him up and wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist and lifted him to stand. Eddie clung onto Steve, and they slowly started to walk together.
“There ya go.” Steve muttered quietly to him, “You’re doing great.”
Eddie siffled and watched his feet as they moved. It was slow, much slower than Eddie would have liked to move, but his legs didn’t buckle once, so it was a win for both of them. Steve helped him sit down on the couch and set the pillows up exactly how Eddie liked them to be these days, and threw the ratty old crocheted blanket that his mother made over his boyfriend's lap, and kissed his forehead.
“Good job.” Steve smiled and scruffed his hair dotingly, “You want some juice?”
Eddie nodded, and Steve scurried off to the kitchen to pour them both some juice. Wayne bought over their dinner, and they all settled into the couch. Steve was smushed between Eddie and Wayne, just as he liked it, feeling very comforted by his new little family. Eddie was sitting on the edge of the couch with enough space to stretch out if he needed, and so he didn’t feel crowded, and he crossed his legs and made sure one knee was touching Steve at all times. And Wayne leant against the arm of the sofa because he liked his own space, and Steve made sure not to touch him, but he did like to sit right by them on bad days like this.
It was their little routine.
Someone would make up after a fight, they’d have a good warm meal, and they’d straddle up on the couch and watch one of Eddie’s favourites (usually Rocky) whilst they ate. Then Wayne would doze off on the end, and then Eddie would. And then Steve would carry Eddie to bed and tuck him in, and he’d help lay Wayne down and make sure he had a blanket. Then he’d go lay down with the man he loved, and hold him as he drifted off to sleep.

hiiii! long time, no headcanon, but i'm back with a doozy!
imagine this: robin and steve signing up for a ballroom dancing class (why? doesn't really matter, it could be because robin's cousin is getting married and her parents force her to take classes or it's just them picking up a new hobby, who knows), only to have their jaws dropped to the floor and then some when they see the instructors with their matching curly hair, bright eyes and tight black clothes.
eddie and nancy show the dance they'll be practicing the next couple of weeks and let's just say that steve and robin having trouble keeping the focus on the dance routine because holy shit nancy looks so graceful and holy shit eddie just picks her up and spins her around with such ease, and on their way home steve and robin are both having a full-on crisis because holy shit how are they going to survive the nextclasses if one night alone was torture enough??
things only get worse when robin trips over her feet a couple of times a couple of classes later (this is why she doesn't wear heels), spurring nancy on to help her with the steps (this obviously does not work on bit) and eddie swoops right in to waltz off with steve, who had been left alone to fend for himself. steve is freaking out because eddies's hands (!!!) on his waist (!!!) and he's complimenting steve's form and how good he's doing before he spins steve around, leaving steve dizzy in a way that's not just from dancing.
eddie keeps coming back to him after that, giving him pointers and compliments were needed, paying him much more attention than the other students. steve is left wondering if he's not keeping up with the rest of the class (his teacher wouldn't be paying that much attention to him otherwise right??) so after class, he asks eddie about private lessons, to which (obviously) agrees and let's just say, that private lesson doesn't involve as much dancing as steve had thought
idk that's as far as my brain got but there's just something about eddie in dirty dancing-like dance instructor clothes, his hair in a messy ponytail, and being all suave on the dance floor. 'kay byeeee
Hello!!! Okay so I've trying to come up with a way to answer this that isn't just a keyboard smash because i am INVESTED! GIVE ME DIRTY DANCING RONANCE AND STEDDIE!!!! Steve and Robin 10000% watched dirty dancing and were SQUEELING at the lover boy scene, I JUST KNOW IT!!! Steve wants to be Baby and Robin wants to be Johnny and they both have huge crushes on Penny. I desperately love everythign you said!!!!!
Nancy and Eddie spotted Robin and Steve from the moment they walked through the door and Nancy is nothing if not a Determined Woman so as soon as she see's an opening to swoop in on Robin she takes it. Nancy lets out a sigh and tries to hide as smile as she sees Robin struggle with the steps. Eddie is standing right next to her and mumurs a ‘go get your girl Wheeler'
and Nancy laughs 'I know your game Eddie, you just want her partner freed up. Good thing I'm all about charity and helping the hopeless.'
Eddie doesn't reply, just sticks out his hand and Nancy grips it, they shake hands with a shared 'good luck.'
After the first encounter where Eddie complimented Steve's rhthym and literally anything else he could think of he decides to up his game the next week. Eddie slides up to Steve after Nancy plucks Robin away again. 'so I was thinking, last week I was the lead. And that isn't the way you'll be dancing with your friend, right? So lets switch it up this time around' and with a smile that somehow doesn't betray the bone shattering nerves Eddie is experiencing. He guides Steve's hands, one to sit on Eddie's hip and the other to hold his hand. Steve doesn't move, just stands and stares at his hand on Eddie's waist, wanting to squeeze the warmth radiating under his hand, wanting to drag his fingers over the skin, slowly, and lower, so much lower. But he snaps himself out of it with the hint of a blush on his face and locks eyes with Eddie
'So, ready to tell me what to do?'
Steve feels Eddie's grip on his shoulder tighten for a fraction of a second and absolutely resolutely does NOT think about it when he's on his own later that night (he does).
The next week there's an odd number of people that turns up, normally Eddie would just dance with this person himself but he can't face the thought of not touching Steve. So he brings the single woman and Steve together and says they are going to dance together. Steve panics, worries he'll step on this lady's feet or trip her up but Eddie has a trick up his sleeve.
'Oh don't you worry sweetheart, I'll be guiding you all the way'.
Steve doesn't know what this means, but imagines it will involve Eddie circling around him and his dance partner, telling Steve exactly what to do and when. Infact it is so much worse. Eddie tells Steve and his partner to find their first position together and then, then, Eddie comes up close behind Steve, both hands on his hips as he presses on Steve's waist, talking close to his ear
'I'll keep nice and close Steve, show you exactly what I'm looking for. Exactly how I want you to move'.
In that moment, Steve swear he dies. He stares hard over the shoulder of his partner and prays to god he doesn't let out every sound that is begging to come out of his mouth. He gives as good as he gets though, swaying in close to his partner when he needs and pressing back into Eddie when he can. The pair of them are a complete mess. What Steve doesn't know is his dance partner was a ruse, somebody Nancy invited after she realised she'd have to do something if she didn't want to spend another evening listening to Eddie lament about Steve's smile or his eyes or his eyebrows
('Really Eddie? His eyebrows?'
'You dont understand wheeler, this man is perfection. i'd pet his toe hair if he wanted me to.')

Steve: I cant believe you convinced me to do this
Robin: you really think you can deny your kids?
Steve in a volleyball uniform and a padded bra: YES WHY AM I DRESSED LIKE THIS!?
Nancy: because we were one short and you’re the only one that wouldn’t make this really weird really fast.

Eddie was still in the coma, attached to so many tubes it made Wayne sick to look at sometimes. But they were keeping him alive, so he’ll manage. They were making sure he got to see his boy awake again.
There was still a metal cuff that was attached to his wrist. The other end attached to the bar of the hospital bed. As if he could spring up at any moment and just escape. When he’s been half dead for days. When Wayne hasn’t seen his eyes open since before Eddie went into hiding.
He hasn’t seen his boy for over a full week. Even though he’s been lying there on the bed for the last few days. Eddie won’t be back with Wayne until he wakes up. If he wakes up.
Everyday Wayne’s been here in between his shifts. Can’t afford to take the days off, with having to get a new place and all. Part of his paycheck’s paying for the hotel room he’s staying in while trying to find somewhere new to live. Even the abandoned houses are too pricy, and the trailer park’s in shambles.
Honestly, if he could, he’d be pulling as many doubles as possible just to get a new place and soon. But that would mean not being here. Might miss when he wakes up. Wayne doesn’t want to miss that.
It’s not like he’s lonely here either. There’s been other visitors. The kid that Eddie always talked about from his dungeon game. The one that he secretly liked above the rest of the freshmen. His bandmates came by once, looking guilty as hell when they did. They haven’t been back since.
There’s been a few other people Wayne hasn’t recognized. A few more kids from the club, some he didn’t even know Eddie knew. But they always came to check in before heading across the hall to see the boy there. The Harrington boy.
Wayne recognized it was him one day when the door was left open. He was asleep, with an IV in his arm along with some other cords. Not as many as his boy, but still there. There was a girl in there too, short brown hair and wearing a baggy jacket with some patches. She was holding his hand. It never seemed like she let it go.
The same girl checked in on Eddie a few times. Tried to make small talk with Wayne but left when she realized he was disinterested. Always heading back to the Harrington boy.
All he knew is that they both came in at the same time. Got admitted one after the other, but Wayne didn’t know what order. That they both had to go through some type of surgery to deal with the injuries. Though he hears Harrington’s was more cosmetic than anything. Eddie’s was to save his life.
Not that he’s judging. People could do whatever they wanted for all he cared. There were different doctor’s for different things. Priorities and all that. He just hoped that Harringotn wasn’t higher up on the list than Eddie was. Eddie was clearly the one in the worst condition.
The kid that kept visiting Eddie went over there a lot too. Dustin, is the kid’s name. Wayne can’t remember it half the time, he’s too busy focusing on something else. And just bone tired. But after Dustin sits next to Wayne for a while, updates Eddie on everything that’s happened that day, sometimes reads to him, he heads right across the hall and does it all again. Every single time.
Wayne has no clue how this boy could possibly be close with both Eddie and the Harrington kid. It’s not like they were in the same circles. Or seemed to remotely like each other at all. Wayne can explicitly remember the Harrington boy being apart of one of Eddie’s hate filled rampages. But if he’s remembering right, there was something different that really pissed Eddie off about him. Something that’s wrapped up in the same reason Wayne’s never seen Eddie bring a girl home.
But day after day, Dustin goes to Steve’s room after stopping by Eddie. Wayne can see why Eddie liked Dustin. He’s loud and dramatic just like Eddie. Likes the same game, same books, even starting to like the same music. But Dustin and the Harrington boy. He doesn’t get it.
Until he’s walking down the hall to get a cup of coffee and hears it. The bickering that leads into laughter. Snippy comments about something filled with inside jokes. Suddenly it all makes sense. They almost seem like brothers.
It’s a few more days until Wayne meets the Harrington boy himself. A nurse coming to check Eddie’s vitals leaves the door open on accident. Harrington peaks through when he’s on a walk down the hallway.
“Why is he handcuffed?” is the first thing Wayne hears from the kid. Voice filled with anger.
Before Wayne can get annoyed at explaining the whole situation to another stranger, explain how he knows his boy is innocent, the nurse is yelling at him.
“You can’t be in here, sir.”
“I don’t give a shit. Why is he handcuffed? He didn’t do anything wrong.”
Wayne is surprised that he’s not the one making the case this time. Somehow, this kid he’s never met believes his nephew is innocent. Just like he does.
The nurse snaps her folder shut, walking up to Steve and waving for help through the door. “That is private information. Go back to your room before you’re forced to.”
Steve rolls his eyes with a snarl, undoing the buttons on the front of his hospital shirt. “He didn’t give me these. He didn’t kill those kids. I know, I was there.” He begins to pull back the bandages, revealing scarred, mauled skin that looks just like Eddies. The nurse scolds him to stop. “He’s innocent, so why is he handcuffed to the bed?”
“He is still a suspect and deemed dangerous. Now get back to your room.”
More another nurse grabs Steve’s arm to try and pull him to his room. He shakes it off.
“Dangerous,” his voice raises. “He’s been in a coma for days and you think he’s dangerous. What is he going to do, pop up out of bed like he hasn’t been fucking asleep for days and almost died just to run away? He couldn’t do that if he tried.”
Security gets involved now, physically pushing Steve out of the doorway. The nurse shuts the door to Eddie’s room, cutting Wayne off from seeing it. She apoligized for the intrusion and gets back to checking on Eddie.
“He’s right, you know,” Wayne says, still hearing the noise from the hall. “My boy didn’t do nothin’ wrong. Can’t escape even if he tried. Or attack anyone for that matter. He’s been through enough, he doesn’t need to wake up to a cuff around his wrist.”
The nurse purses her lips, strained. “This is from above me, sir. But if the news is true, the cuffs are staying on.”
When the nurse opens the door again, the hall is clear.
The next time Wayne sees Harrington is when he leaves for the day. Only able to fall asleep so many times in a shitty hospital chair before needing to go home. Security presses for him to stay in his room, warning him.
“Just going to make a fucking phone call. I’m allowed to do that right?” When the security guard crosses his arms, the kid hits him with, “Don’t want me to get my dad involved, do you? Isn’t he one of the main donors for this hospital? Be such a shame if he stopped.”
Wayne almost laughs when the security guard moves out of the way. Harrington giving him the finger with a smirk as he walks down the hall to the payphone.
Maybe Eddie and the Harrington kid had more in common than Wayne thought.
now with a part 2
