Digging through my past model builds, the USS Swinetrek was a quick and dirty scratchbuild. I did this one back in 2001, and it survived until a kitty did a " bookcase + gravity + just a little shove " experiment in 2015.

Capitalist Pigs in Space

Inspired by Maura Quint (@behindyourback on twitter): A full length feature film starring Miss Piggy, Link Hogthrob, and Julius Strangepork as the crew of the Swinetrek, a spacecraft attempting to make contact with BBQORG. Link and Dr. Strangepork are of the mind that they'll be stronger if they join up with the BBQORG, a cybernetic hive mind and thinly veiled stand-in for a monopolistic conglomerate, unaware it would literally turn the pigs into a commodity, namely pork futures to become barbecue at some not-too-distant date. It's up to Miss Piggy, and her expansive library of socialist, feminist, and intersectional literature ranging from the works of Pauli Murray up to and through Zillah Eisenstein's writings to save the crew and the galaxy from a rapacious and cataclysmic economic system.

Not sure why, but I’ve never been a fan. This drawing is one of the more palatable of her guises, though, to me - as First Mate Piggy of the S.S. Swinetrek for Pigs In Space. Well, It’s Tales From Tonka Time Again!

As a family, we were beyond happy to find out that The Muppet Show was coming to Disney Plus. Gnome Queen Tonka Toy Legs and myself remember it fondly from our childhood.

During an ‘episode’ of Pigs In Space, Tonka pointed out it was her favourite regular bit, she then thought for a bit, and said “I’ve just realised, the Swinetrek, is that something to do with Star Trek, with them being in space and that? STOP LAUGHING AT ME, WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS LAUGHING AT ME?”

Yes folks, it took my beloved Tonka THIRTY FIVE YEARS to work out that gag.

Oh look, she’s found The Prodding Stick™ that I hid.

Pigs in Space

Pigs in Space is a recurring sketch from The Muppet Show, featuring the exploits of Captain Link Hogthrob, First Mate Piggy, and Dr. Julius Strangepork leading a crew of pigs aboard the Swinetrek. The sketch, in concept, is essentially a parody of Star Trek, Lost in Space and other space operas of the 1960s and 70s. After The Muppet Show, Pigs in Space was adapted into a video game for Atari, featured as animated segments on Little Muppet Monsters, revived as Pigs in Space: Deep Dish Nine on Muppets Tonight, appeared in comic book format in The Muppet Show Comic Book by Roger Langridge, and as an online web series launched in 2016.
