i got the best and worst booster box ever i pulled three blue eyes. but this was pokemon and it was the fucking duck. quaxlys evolution. i got a bunch of everything cause its a booster box but i pulled three quaquavals. i did it like an advent calendar with my friend. we opened maybe five packs the day we bought it and restrained ourselves for a month and had a pack a day it was so fun pulling these!

the third quaquaval was the rare one but not the gold one and i was so mad lmao it was the second last pack. forreal! and my pulls other than the full art wooper (lets fucking gooo) were shit i wanted a clodsire! i pulled one buying three packs a few days later no big deal lmao but i was so mad at this box.

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, the younger child of Diane and Michael "Miguel" Haughton, a warehouse worker. She was of African-American descent. Her name is the feminine form of the Arabic "Ali", meaning "highest, most exalted one, the best." Aaliyah was fond of her name, calling it "beautiful" and saying she was "very proud of it" and strove to live up to her name every day.

One thing I enjoy about contemporary magical doctrine is it's simultaneously silly and serious. Its attitude is, in my mind, the natural conclusion of today's post-post-post-ironic milieu. Laudna. Dear Laudna, oh you poor loveable naive dummy. (Said with so much love). She grew up alone. Yes she had her parents and maybe the odd friend here or there but she grew up alone. And then she died in the most horrific way, alone. She woke up alone. She then spent 30 years of her life alone- but this time even more so with her own killer in her head feeding her.

And then she met Imogen, beautiful capable Imogen. A light in her lonely life, the first real light. Now she’s seen Imogen grow in power, in confidence. And she feels like her loneliness, her insecurity, her own head is bringing the love of her life down. She thinks she’s keeping her from flying but she doesn’t realize she’s keeping her from flying too high.

Imogen has been on step away from falling in with Predathos since she first felt the pull. The only thing, just like the words out of Imogen’s lips, the only thing that’s keeping her grounded is Laudna. Imogen’s heart is out walking around as a dead but not so dead woman with a rat bird as a familiar. Without her she’s, well we saw, she’s desperate. Willing to bargain with the her love’s killer to get her back. She’s sleeping with her dead body and ready to fight the Lord and Lady of Whitestone, the city of Whitestone. She tore down a city block, she exhalted, she crawled into hell after her. Laudna is Imogen’s tether, her red thread wrapped around her wrist, without her there isn’t.

Without Imogen- Laudna doesn’t have her light, her anchor keeping her from falling back into the dark.

Without Laudna Imogen flies too high never to be seen again.

They’re co-dependent. They’re ready to destroy the world to get the other back. They never want to leave one another. They want to protect each other above all else- the gods, Predathos, Exandria be damned.

They’re also scared.

Laudna is scared she’s holding Imogen down.

Imogen is scared Laudna will leave her and fall away.

They’re ride or die in the worst and best ways. I’m so curious to see how their story goes. I’d like to believe they have a happy ending though. Maybe. Probably not, but hey it’s good to have some hope and crazier things have happened eh? It’s D&D after all.

Breaking, Mending

Ashton is good at breaking things. But now they're trying to fix something. One of the most important things. MAJOR SPOILER FOR EPISODE 91

Ashton comes to with a healing potion on his tongue. There’s also that scent in the air specific to arcane explosions.

At first they think Fearne must have used that detonation ability that she has in her titanous form. Risky. But if she could get the space to not hit Bells Hells, maybe just enough to bring Otohan down. And they’re pretty sure that bitch is down, given that psychic vibration of her Exhalting is gone.

But Imogen sits above him, with tears streaming down her face, and Ashton knows something is wrong.

When he looks beyond her, beyond Chet and Orym and Laudna and Fearne, he sees it: a crater with a charred corpse and littered with yellow scraps of metal.

Ashton knows.

They know that what they have feared for fucking months (have they really only known him for months? Not even a year? How the fuck did he make it feel like they’d always known him?) has finally happened: FCG martyred himself. The aeormaton is gone.

It’s not even a thought to let the earth take Ashton’s body, drag and rotate and slide it around until he’s standing upright before the crater, witnessing the devastation of Fresh Cut Grass’s sacrifice.

It shouldn’t have come to this. They should have– They could have– Why–?

Ashton searches for FCG’s stupid fucking Changebringer coin. They would have wanted that. He spots it embedded in the wall, forward towards the exit to the surface. A last message from FCG. Or the Changebringer fucking with them, using the death of the only person here to give a fuck about her (if it’s the latter, the gods and titans will fight again. That’s a fucking promise. Fresh Cut Grass is worth punching their goddess in the face).  

They slide their fingers into stone and pull the coin free within their fist, the rock unresisting to them. Ashton is going to give it back to FCG as soon as they get him resurrected. And they will get him resurrected. Ashton is not going to any less lengths to bring Fresh Cut Grass back than they did Laudna.

(Mahaddei Uen, 1923 - Stramentizzo, 1945)

Born in Somalia to an Italian father, Giuseppe Marincola, and a Somali mother, Ashkiro Hassan, of the Somali subclan Habar Gidir. He had a sister, Isabella, and - contrary to the costume of the time - both were recognized by the father and brough back to Italy.

Giorgio grew up in Pizzo Calabro, with his aunt and uncle, and went to live in Rome with his father in 1933. He attended the Liceo Classico Umberto I and had as a history and philosophy professor Pilo Albertelli, who died in 1944 in the Fosse Ardeatine Massacre.

In 1941 he started studying to become a doctor.

In 1943, after the armistice, he joined the partisans of the PdA (Partito d'Azione, a socialist and center left party).

After the liberation of Rome in 1944 he joined the Special Operations Executive and left for Brindisi, where he adopted the battle name "Mercurio" and started military training.

In 1945 he was captured by the SS and imprisoned in Biella and then transfered to Villa Schneider, where the german military police had its headquarters.

He was forced to speak during a transmission of Radio Baita. The idea was to force him to denigrate the Resistance, but Giorgio instead exhalted and glorified it and the transmission was abruptly interrupted while the police beat him. Because of this he was transferred to Torino and then to the Bolzano transit Camp, one of the largest concentration camps on italian soil.

When the nazis abandoned the camp, Giorgio refused to leave for Switzerland and instead joined the partisans again in Val di Fiemme.

There he died in the last massacre commited by the nazis in Italy, the massacre of Stramentizzo, together with 44 other people, between civilians and partisans.

He was honored with the Gold Metal of Military Valor.

Valhalla is not heaven, and other reasons fascists are dumb dumbs.

The utterly, bewildering, so funny it's depressing thing about neo n@z1s and blanc enthusiasts being so fucking quick to appropriate Norse iconography as a symbol of their "proud heritage" is that they consistently demonstrate a grasp on Norse Mythology as deep as the Marvel Cinematic Universe does. Not a dig on the MCU, but, let's just say creative liberties is an understatement when it comes to representing Norse Mythology.

The primary point of interest boils down basically to the concept of the "exhalted warrior death." As fascism is the ideology of hero worship, on a surface level, this makes sense. Old Norse Culture was one largely defined by conflict and vikinging as a trade.

Many Norse beliefs are shaped by, designed to inspire and exhalt the warrior who fights without fear. Their society in part relied on "the hero warrior."

Couple things though:

1. Not all Norsemen were vikings, and you REALLY aren't one.

You think the Norse belief system was so heavily lazer focused on a single profession in what needed to be an entire functioning community everyone that wasn't a viking was poopooed to damnation and/or a dishonorable life? No bitch. "Hel" in Norse mythology is just where the dead ARE. It's a very morally neutral place to be. Hel be vibin'. Odin, Freya, and possibly Njord were collecting souls for a very specific reason. That being . . .

2. The souls of warriors were being brought to Valhalla (among other places) to train for a final battle THEY WERE DESTINED TO LOSE.

Y'all fucking forgot about Ragnorok didn't you? The souls in Valhalla are being conscripted to a suicide mission. It's a place of honor to be chosen, but it's not a reward.

The training is apparently honestly a bitch in a half in it of itself supposedly. I guess you get god mead, though. Sit next to Odin at the big boy table, maybe. An afterlife of pain and awaiting doom for beer and for daddy to notice you.

That's the thing, though. Valhalla isn't supposed to be Heaven. It aligns with many other Norse Myths in that it exhalts to bravery in the face of certain annihilation. Valhalla as a function of beleif designed to psychologically break past the human instinct to prioritize self-preservation. The quality in which it exhalts is not the hero's death, but embracing doom. THAT'S WHY Odin chose warriors who died WITH WEAPON IN HAND, as in, they already faced one destruction, they can face another.

The army of Valhalla weren't even the only deaths of honor Odin recognized one could achieve. The Volva were all very much in Hel once they died, and they are all distinguished as Odin's special little future-seeing squad in the mythos too. And that's JUST Odin, ignoring the other gods who chose souls for their armies.

Norse mythology, ironically to the point of head-exploading farce, spits in the face of the concept of the Hero's Death as defined by fascism. "Dying for the cause" is a Christian/Abrahamic value that they are retroactively interjecting into Norse belief because historical self-insert fanfiction that is the Arian Mythos. There's no fucking point in training and fighting in Ragnorok, everyone is destined to fail, everyone knows it, and that's the fucking point.

The concept of Ragnorok and Valhalla was not even universal among the Norsemen. The inevitability of death and rebirth is just kind of a given as a natural truth in most pagan beliefs. Everyone you know and love is going to die, and then something else will come from the ashes. Literally "chill bro it be like that sometimes."

And if that's not enough to convince you fascists don't actually know shit about Norse mythology, I can tell you all about how fucking gay it is.

Xingqiu fans are dining excellently with all the references to him and lore regarding the Guhua Clan being spotlighted via Chenyu Vale's "A Wangshan Walk to Remember." The comparisons that can be made between Xingqiu and his predecessors is also very fascinating...

The Grand Master Guhua truly did live out the life of idealized dignity and transparency just as Xingqiu desires for himself. There's something very touching and heartbreaking about the fact that Guhua's life was one deemed heroic, but he was only able to have his legacy carried on by Boxuan who cast his own name aside to exhalt the name of the deceased Guhua.

And then right after briefly recounting the life and works of Master Guhua, Wen brings up Xingqiu, reemphasizing the lofty ideal/hope that he can respark the dying flame of the Guhua (no pressure) and potentially act as a parallel to the founder of the art himself. It's made all the more poignant, considering that we could easily draw the connection that Chongyun could be considered Xingqiu's potential Boxuan equivalent, a fellow young practitioner of martial arts who acts as a peer and supporter of Xingqiu's arts (although lets hope Xingqiu doesn't die preemptively like Guhua did).

I don't have snippets of the dialogue for it or screenshots, but those books in the archive room were just so lovely to see. The fact that many of the old disciples of Guhua were just nerds like Xingqiu and enamored with wuxia novels, shelving their discussions of them among all of the records they held in their library was so sweet.

Additionally, the person who invented the Rain Cutter technique that Xingqiu uses now was the one involved with the hidden Wangshan chambers that had the really forboding message about the heavens rejecting humanity and whatnot... very mysterious stuff.

Additionally, those 5 swords scattered around Chenyu Vale, the first of which you find at the outskirts of the Wangshan Chamber....while not necessarily all individuals of the Guhua Clan, it made me oddly emotional to see how the years that went by, depicted by each sword's material- from a blade to a crude sword shaped stick- and yet they all had in common a very poetic observation of their goals and the world about them that could easily flow as a singular nature/travelling-based poem. And that spirit of poetry intertwined with swordsmanship flourishing across the ages still continues on with this one dorky rich boy. It's honestly wonderful worldbuilding, that through environmental storytelling and the mere mentions of a character who was never even present for the entirety of the world quest, all of these stories and records of Guhua disciples and swordsmen before him tell me all I need to know about Xingqiu as a character, too.

Pagan religions have one key thing in common.....the sacred feminine, elevated to a goddess status. The catholic church is no different. Except the cleverly elevate her to godess status without actually saying it. They say it however with man made doctrines, fables of annunciation, equating her to the godhead, creating prayers to her, statues, calling her a mediator, and more. All of it is man made and a lie.
