Coming in with Lyanna being painted as just Arya in the past. There is this notion that bled into a lot of fanfic writers and is that Lyanna apparently struggled with her femininity as much as Arya did (ie, some fics have her not liking to be called lady for some reason or saying that this and ladylike thing is stupid) despite the fact that is never alluded in canon. Yes, Lyanna didn't want to be married to Robert, but she is not the first woman to not like a forced marriage. She clearly had interest on jousting and knight valour, something Arya is not shown to be that interested at. We have dialogue from Lyanna, she is not another dead lady. I think Lyanna, for example, would have left Winterfell if she had had the chance. Meanwhile Arya's whole arc is about coming back to Winterfell. And so on.

Lyanna and Arya are two different characters. Yes, they are compared in canon and parallels are drawn and honestly more than half of it has to do with establishing the Lyanna and Jon connection.

Primarily, Lyanna's role in the narrative is not being Arya's aunt but being Jon's mother.

Here's another difference between Lyanna and Arya. Lyanna didn't have any support from her big brothers when she was getting forcefully married, but Arya does. Brandon was the Robert Baratheon of the North and Eddard Stark was the one who brought up the betrothal with Robert Baratheon in the first place. Arya does not have that problem, Jon uses his every single trick in the book to get Arya out of a forced marriage when Lyanna's brother (Eddard) was pushing her into one.

Lyanna would have left Winterfell...I don't know. But yeah, for me the only reason she came back to Winterfell is because she could be closer to Jon. It wasn't because of Rickard or Brandon or Ned or her love for the North, it was because of her son.

Lyanna fights three people to protect Howland, Jon fights three people to protect Sam.

Lyanna despises the idea of an arranged marriage, so does Jon.

Lyanna and Jon have the same reaction after seeing Bobby B. 'What a disappointment?!'

Lyanna and Jon both have a love of horse riding.

Lyanna and Jon both feel kind of out of place in Winterfell.

Lyanna and Jon are both stubborn and have that wolf's blood thing going on.

Ned Stark tries to dupe both Lyanna and Jon. He tries to paint a rosy picture of Robert to Lyanna and miserably fails with Lyanna managing to find her way out of it. On the other hand, Ned's rosy picture of the Night's Watch is what lands Jon amoung rapist and thiefs.

Some Difficult to Translate Korean Words

Note: the vowel "eo" is pronounced "uh"

설레다 | seolle-da

This verb describes the excitement you feel around a crush, the way someone's actions give you butterflies, or the nervous anticipation before a big performance. Songs usually use it when talking about crushes. Being near someone makes you seolle, the way they smile makes you seolle, you get seolle before a date, that kind of thing. (Excuse the awful Konglish, I'm trying to get the point across without getting into grammar.) A great example is Oh My Girl's "Nonstop" which features the word in the title/chorus.

Translated as: flustered, fluttering heart, get butterflies, excited, thrilling

인연 | inyeon

This noun describes the connections between people in a very broad and intimate sense. The connection between you and your family, friends, and lovers are all inyeon. When two people brush by each other on the street, even that is a fleeting kind of inyeon. Often in music, it is used when talking about the relationship between two people ending. When their inyeon ends, that's really the end for them, they will no longer cross paths in this life. By saying that not only their relationship but also their inyeon is ending, it adds a sense of gravity and tragedy. This was their fate, their destiny.

Translated as: bond, connection, fate

담다 | dam-da

This is one of the words I have the most difficulty with. This is a verb that describe putting something in another thing. So like, placing an item in a box. Simple enough, right? Well, it's also used in a figurative sense such as taking something in or keeping a moment in your heart. "I [dam] you in my eyes" is a common one. Whenever it comes up, I want to use a more poetic word, but "put" is what I have to work with. I often translate for meaning rather than direct translations in these cases, so I change the expression a little.

Translated as: put in, place in, contain, imbue

기대하다: look forward to, anticipate

떨다: literally "shake" but often meaning excitement or nervousness

마음/맘: heart, feelings, mind

시절: (period of) time, days, season

Okay that last post got me thinking: What would the AOT characters quirks be in the BNHA universe.

Thoughts below the cut:

Levi: Something giving him superhuman agility, strength and speed. He can basically fly the way he hops between buildings at lightening speed. Uses swords as support weapons. Was originally an underground hero, working with Isabel and Farlan. Got into a really bad fight against a villain and Erwin showed up last minute, after they had already died and the villain was left bleeding everywhere by Levi’s blades. Erwin recruited him to his team, so now Levi is (reluctantly) the country’s #1 hero, right in the lime light.

Erwin: Some sort of battle IQ. Gives him statistics on everyone’s abilities the moment he lays eyes on them, along with probabilities based on their surroundings. Was only an up-and-coming hero when he ran into Levi, barely in the 100’s, but now he’s firmly at #2.

Hange: They can see into your biological nature, though sometimes it requires skin contact for them to get a full picture. (They can even tell you if your diets lacking.) This gives them complete insight into how a quirk works and any potential weaknesses. Originally wanted to be hero support, using their quirk to build various suits and equipment to match each hero’s specific biology, but Erwin convinced them otherwise. (They hypothesize he has a secret second quirk that makes him very persuasive.) They’re now #3.

Miche: Sharp nose, obviously. Maybe some sort of bloodhound-like quirk. He can use a small bit of someone’s scent to hunt them down.

Eren: Titan, obviously. Basically his whole family has the same quirk, but he’s the first to want to use it for good. (Maybe…if he doesn’t get corrupted)

Zeke: Also Titan, though he’s not exactly… good.

Mikasa: Very similar to Levi, though her quirk grants her a bit less flight and a tad more speed. It’s immediately apparent that they’re related.

Armin: Here comes the Sun. Ya’ boys basically a nuke. Has a huge drawback of basically knocking him out after, not to mention the mental toll. Only used as a last resort, he intends to become a purely rescue hero. Wants to save people from burning buildings and being buried in rubble. He fear the day he’ll get called on to actually use his quirk in a fight.

Sasha: Some sort of super hearing. Extremely fine tuned to that she can hear a pin drop from a mile away. She’s the best for recon.

Connie: Distraction. He’s really good at getting the undivided attention of whomever he wants. He typically uses comedy, but literally anything he says can get a villain to follow him. May or may not use it on his friends occasionally, but doesn’t always mean to.

Jean: Leadership. As long as he exudes confidence, those around him do too. It bolsters the quirks of others around him, reflecting back to make him physically stronger for everyone who believes in him. The same holds true for doubt, though, making him weaker in turn.

Reiner: Some sort of hardening quirk, obviously. Maybe a bit of self healing mixed in, making him basically un-killable (even though he’d like that sometimes)

Annie: Mimic. Since that’s technically the female titans actual ability. She has to touch someone first, but she completely mimic their fighting style from that point on. When she’s super stressed she can even use a bit of their quirks.

Symptoms of rabies usually take 3 to 12 weeks to appear, but they can appear after a few days or not for several months or years.

Symptoms include:

numbness or tingling where you were bitten or scratched

seeing things that are not there (hallucinations)

feeling very anxious or energetic

difficulty swallowing or breathing

being unable to move (paralysis)

Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal.

After a rabies exposure, the rabies virus has to travel to the brain before it can cause symptoms. This time between exposure and appearance of symptoms is the incubation period. It may last for weeks to months. The incubation period may vary based on the location of the exposure site (how far away it is from the brain), the type of rabies virus, and any existing immunity.

The first symptoms of rabies may be similar to the flu, including weakness or discomfort, fever, or headache. There also may be discomfort, prickling, or an itching sensation at the site of the bite. These symptoms may last for days.

Symptoms then progress to cerebral dysfunction, anxiety, confusion, and agitation. As the disease progresses, the person may experience delirium, abnormal behavior, hallucinations, hydrophobia (fear of water), and insomnia. May 12th 1998: I've been wearing this annoying space suit since yesterday, my skin grows musty and feels very itchy. By way of revenge, I didn't feed those dogs today. Now I feel better. May 13th 1998 I went to the medical room because my back is all swollen and feels itchy. They put a big bandage on my back and the doctor told me I did not need to wear the space suit any more. I guess I can sleep well tonight. May 14th 1998 When I woke up this morning, I found another blister on my foot. It was annoying and I ended up dragging my foot as I went to the dog's pen. It's already been two months since that mess with Umbrella. Thanks to the suspension, investigations haven't progressed exactly as I'd hoped. Perhaps this written record of what I've found will prove to be my final duty as a S.T.A.R.S. officer… I can only hope that it helps lead to the truth.

The T-Virus

Those infected by this virus seem to become literal zombies. It appears to be communicable via several different avenues, outlined below:

Bite from an infected individual, allowing the mixing of bodily fluids

Contact with crows which have eaten infected carrion

Due to the strength of the virus, airborne infection cannot be discounted

It should be noted that those who survived the incident have not yet developed symptoms.

It's unclear whether this is because the virus has a long incubation period, or because we just happened to be resistant to the infection. We ought to remain vigilant, even after this investigation period ends.

As for me—aside from my minor difficulties sleeping—I seem to be in fine shape. Still, I shouldn't get too hopeful. After all, this could just be an extended incubation.
