#firstpost seems more daunting than it needs to be. Got myself all creative blocked up so here is a little diddy to get to know me better..

Are you named after anyone?

I am actually named after Jessica Wakefield from Sweet Valley High

When was the last time you cried?

tbh, I tend to flip from emotionless to SUPER emotional like 0-60. Sometimes no response, sometimes (like this afternoon) I see a beautiful pond surrounded in nature, being natural and beautiful, water sparkling in the sunshine and the tears just roll.

Do you have kids? If no, how many do you want?

No kids atm, but a couple kiddos would be nice in the near future

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

..like.. what.. ? am I just like a duplicate of me? Like am I the same person I am now and would I be friends with someone JUST like me? Or am I someone else? Who am I? Like, I enjoy spending time on my own?

Leo; I mean it IS surprisingly accurate like all the time.

What are your hobbies?

I am kind of in between hobbies right now.. I dabble in some things. I go to the gym like more than average, but I would like to go more - said everyone ever. I’d like to hike more, camp more, build more things out of pallets, you know.. the usual

Do you have any siblings?

I have a 21 year old brother and a 14 year old sister.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Life is pretty great tbh, I’d like to continue being happy with my little fam

My first best friend would have to be my cousin, Brittany. Like a sister.

What is the least favourite thing about yourself?

I wish I was a lot better at expressing how I feel.

Things that still bother me - my wife and I had a discussion about proposals and who would ask who. We landed on me asking her, which I did and am SO happy about, but the reason behind it being that I am so poor at expressing emotions that she was afraid it would affect her confidence in my response.

For a first TMI moment of the blog, I have so much anxiety in my ability to express myself that I can’t even manage to make any “noise” during sex. Doesn’t even matter that I am my most comfortable self with her, STILL struggle. A work in progress for me I guess.

Funniest moment throughout School?

There was a time when we were at a beach party when I was 17, the RCMP showed up to break it up and snag any and all intoxicated minors they could. The tide had recently come in, but where we were was a little dip in the side of the cliff so the path back to the road was water-covered. So someone peeks around the cliff to see the two Mounties wading through the water. This party crew are country-folk and are 100% ready for this situation with a wooden ladder that leads up the side of the cliff into a field close to where all the vehicles are parked. As party-goers are running through the field to cars, someone shouts, “PIT PARTY” and everyone heads towards the local Pit. Along the way someone with a truck steals a round bale from a field and uses it to create the BIGGEST bonfire I’ve ever seen.

I struggled with math but funny enough my career path has led me to a life in the casino so I do math daily and enjoy it very much!

I have had an unsettling amount of bfs for a lesbian, but 2 of them really stand out as being genuinely decent guys and I would still hang out with, platonically, to this day.

The day I got my first puppy.

How is your relationship with parents?

My Mom is one of my best friends in this world! My Dad is an odd case, he struggles with my sexuality, I understand that it is because of where and when he grew up, he is never outwardly rude or mean to me, he’s a quiet country guy, he was at our wedding, he gave me away with my Mom, he’s kind to Olivia, he’s kind to me, he doesn’t understand but recognizes that it is real. I love my Dad, I really do. I’m proud of my Mom for educating him and ensuring that he is present and polite. I get frustrated from time to time and I have cried a lot of tears about it. Our relationship can be strange but at the same time hasn’t changed. He’s been a great Dad and he’ll be a fantastic Grampy. I have to check myself because there are people who are much worse off than me. I get jealous of Olivia sometimes because her Dad is so sweet to her and treats me like a daughter so easily, but my Dad has never been the soft spoken lovey type. We’ve hugged twice in my life. One of them was when I was leaving for England with a one way ticket and no foreseeable return plans and one was when he was jokingly blocking my path and I used it as a disarming mechanism to scoot through.

What’s on your mind?

All I can think about today is the fact that I became an aunt at 5AM this morning and I’m going to see his later this afternoon. I SO excited!

Like.. sort of? I don’t cook much but when I do I always surprise myself with how well I do lol

2 weeks away from home/work, road trip to Halifax for the fertility clinic, get started on a baby and then fly off to one of those tropical cabins on the water.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

I would love to have a few homes! A winter getaway BC. A condo in Halifax, NS and a cute little hobby farm here in PEI in some rolling hills somewhere in between Kensington and Charlottetown.

What’s your favourite thing to have for breakfast?

I love chocolate chip waffles/pancakes, French style pastry breakfast, and when I’m feeling fab, some eggs benny on smoked salmon with a couple mimosas on the side.

I just got a Fitbit so thats been pretty exciting, aside from that, my phone is on me at like all times.

My current one. We’re about to hit 4 years together, married for a little over a month.

Do you know what episode of TF they are filming right & when they go on winter break? Also, I heard GG hasn’t been on set very much the last few weeks, do you know if this is true?

They are filming 4.12 at the moment. I don’t know exactly when they’ll go on break, but in the next two weeks for sure.

As for Grant, he’s had more days off than normal and he’s been sporting facial hair since Fan Expo three weeks ago. So either he hasn’t filmed *at all*, or Barry’s got facial hair right now.

Do you have any theories about why IW was carrying her vows in her pocket during the final episode of the x over & why the camera zoomed in on it in such a deliberate way? Do you think that will be revisited again?

I subscribe to Matt’s theory that the vows will be reproduced when Dawn shows up and needs to prove her identity.

I would really like to send TF writers a message about my feelings about the double wedding and my hope for WA in the future. Could you please tell me what you think is the best way to contact them?

I’m seeing a lot of the media/journalists call out how horrible Felicity’s interruption was and I’m loving it. Plus I’ve never see us so united in this way lol. I hope the producers know we’re angry

I’m sure they know, lol. And the journalists will tell them, too.

From the looks of things on how the other shows are run, it doesn’t seem like Iris is respected by the people who run them. I felt like her character was completely disrespected and basically told to stand in a corner especially on Arrow. They were using her/Barry’s Star Labs. Now I don’t even know if I want her to crossover anymore. And ironically, I’m surprised she was treated so well on Supergirl. That’s their only episode I will repeatedly watch now despite the wedding interruption.

I want her to crossover so Candice can get paid, and that’s it. I agree with you on the rest.

After the way Iris was treated after the we are the flash debacle I can never look at fanboys the same way again. It’s why i kind of side eye the way especially Fel is being talked about by some in our fandom. Especially since the focus is so much on what fel did and hardly at all Ollie. We know more than anyone what it’s like to, so it makes me cringe to see people turn it on another character/couple. + I can never align with fanboys, they’ll turn on Iris just as fast

This is true. Oliver proposed at someone else’s rehearsal dinner, and started the whole plot. He is just as much to blame, and fanboys are misogynistic snakes. It might make you laugh when they say something about a woman you don’t like, but wait until they say the same thing about one you do.

Tati,have you seen the meme on Twitter of WA and O/F? The side with WA says: We are ⚡️ The O/F side says: We are trash LMAO

I’ve seen it, but I wonder if it was created by the same kind of people that were calling Iris trash for that line just last week.

do you think that considering ajk got fired and with berlanti and helbig stepping up, we will get more iris having agency, wally being a regular (that he is supposed to be) and even more westallen? ♥️

Not necessarily. as we have no idea what Berlanti has done for the characters or show. I certainly hope things will change for the better, though. And in the sense that the writers won’t feel harassed and bullied, so they can put out better episodes, yes things will be better.

Given how WA was praised, then used/abused during the crossover, you don’t think it’s due to Todd H might be a pushover do you? I like the guy, but I’m having a hard time believing he may not have had the opportunity to make better executive decisions with the other folks.

I have a soft spot for Todd, but he certainly seems to lack a decisive voice versus the other EPs. Maybe that comes from being 2nd to AJK in his room? We’ll see how things change.

Now that AJK is gone do you know who will be taking over for him? If you do know, will this person be pro IW/WA? I’m always fearful when someone new comes in that we will see a return to 2A.

Berlanti is taking over EP duties alongside Todd for now. I have no idea if they’ll find a permanent replacement or give Todd a promotion after that. I think we can safely say both of them are pro-WA, but not pro-Iris enough to have given her what we think she deserved these last four years lol.

5 Podcasts You Need to Start Listening To

Hello Everyone!

This week I wanted to write about something on the easier side because I have a lot of things planned for the blog that I want to get done. I’m really excited about the changes to come! But for now, I wanted to mention a few podcasts that have helped me a lot recently.

We’re allowed to have headphones at my day job, so I tend to either listen to music or an audiobook. Lately, however, I’ve been binge-listening to podcasts. My friends know that for the longest time I have had a hard time finding a podcast I enjoyed or where I could stand to listen to a person’s voice for more than one episode (listening to the same voice for eight hours can get exhausting).

I’ve been listening mostly to things that help me get my life together but also say that it’s okay to not have my life together. Also on the list is a podcast for writers and a humorous podcast, both of which have helped me too. These are in no particular order, I enjoy all of them equally and think everyone can get at least something from them all. On that note, let’s just get into it!

Unf#ck Your Brain

Unf#ck Your Brain is a feminist podcast hosted by Kara Loewentheil. Her earlier podcast episodes were aimed towards lawyers, but she later changes her message to feminism and learning to control your brain to become better in your everyday life. Kara is a Master Life Coach and has degrees from both Yale and Harvard.

This podcast has helped me in multiple areas in my life because she discusses how to control thought process. Multiple times throughout the podcast she says that you cannot stop a thought from developing but you can stop from acting on it. Some of my favorite episodes include Complaining, Parenting, Self Care, and Social Anxiety. By listening to this podcast I’ve been able to manage my time better, improve my negative thoughts, and have a better understanding that every person’s brain interrupts things differently, that there is no right or wrong way in how your brain interrupts things, and that it is possible to improve your thoughts in order to improve your productivity and your life in general.

Directionally Challenged

This podcast is hosted by Candice King and Kayla Ewell. I’ve been in love with these two since their time on The Vampire Diaries. For those of you who don’t know them by their actual names, they play Caroline Forbes and Vicky Donovan on the show. The podcast is aimed at 30-something year old’s but they have so much advice that applies to women of all ages. The message of the show is to say they thought they would have their lives figured out by 30 but now that they’re in their 30’s they know they don’t.

I enjoy this podcast because I was led to believe the misconception that I would have my life together in my 20’s. And I definitely don’t. Knowing that some people don’t have their life figured out even in their 30’s really helps me when I tell myself that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. I also love the guests they have on the show as well, including some other TVD cast members. Some of my favorite episodes include “Anxiety and Productivity” with Bri Emery, “A Sucky Love Story” with Brittani Louise Taylor, “!0 Year Challenge” with Michael Trevino, “What Would Dobrev Do?” with Nina Dobrev, “After” with Anna Todd, and “Basic Witches” with Leah Knauer and Rachel Laforest.

Kalyn’s Coffee Talk

This podcast is hosted by Kalyn Nicholson. Many people may know her from her YouTube channel. Kalyn’s Coffee Talk focuses on living your best life, mental health, and wellness. I honestly started listening to this podcast simply because of the word coffee in the title. I was randomly looking up podcasts involving coffee.

What I found was a podcast that helps motivate me every Monday morning. I also started binge watching her YouTube videos on the weekends when I didn’t work and was completely inspired by Kalyn to get my stuff done. It might have also been the other podcasts I listen to as well but I love the sense of motivation she gives off in her podcast. I listen to each new episode on my way to work on Monday mornings. It gives me a good sense of starting off the week and since I leave for work at four in the morning that’s something that I look forward to to start my week off right. Some of my favorite episodes include “Witches Brew”, “Let Go Of What No Longer Serves You”, “Detoxing My Social Media”, “Why Morning Routines Work”, and “How To Enjoy Alone Time”.

I Should Be Writing

This is the podcast I mentioned that was for writers. The show is hosted by award-winning author Mur Lafferty. This podcast typically has interviews with other authors but focuses on discussing the issues that arise during the writing process or writing career if you write as a profession.

This podcast has helped me overcome many issues I’ve stumbled upon during my writing and I’m not even done listening to all the episodes yet. This podcast has been going since 2005 and has over 400 posts. Even if I do binge listen to it at work that’s still a lot of episodes to get through. Because it has helped me get through curveballs it’s definitely a high recommend from me for other writers. Since there are so many episodes and I haven’t finished listening to them all, I’m not listing my favorite episodes. My personal suggestion is if you want to listen to this podcast, start from the beginning or look at the titles to see what authors are guests on her show.

This Might Get Weird

Okay, here it is, the humorous podcast hosted by Mamrie Hart and Grace Helbig. This podcast is one hell of a ride. I have to admit I was skeptical about starting this one and I didn’t think I was going to like it. But I had already downloaded all the episodes and I was already in the parking lot at my work. So I decided if I didn’t like it by the time my first break came around then I would just switch to music. I’m glad I gave it a chance because I absolutely love it!

This podcast simply follows the interesting things that happen to both Mamrie and Grace in their lives. They write down things on their phones and share them over the podcast together. I can't get enough of them. My coworkers were staring at me like I was insane for over a week because I would be listening to this podcast and would randomly start laughing so hard because of things they said. That’s not an exaggeration, I had to stop what I was doing one time because I was laughing so hard that I kept dropping my components. If you enjoy a good laugh I highly recommend this podcast. Some of my favorite episodes include “Grace Takes the Wrong Pill”, “Mamrie’s Secret College Hookup”, “Mamrie Channels Her Inner Banksy”, “Grace Hits Herself With Bear Spray”, “Mamrie Shows Grace How to Catfish a Cow”, and “Grace’s Stands Off With An Alpaca”. These episode titles alone should make you laugh without having heard anything else.

There are many other podcasts I listen to as well but these five specific podcasts have helped me in the last few months. Unf#ck Your Brain, Directionally Challenged, and Kalyn’s Coffee Talk have all helped me to get my life together with inspiration, motivation, and personal challenges. I Should Be Writing has helped me improve my writing by talking with other authors and the challenges that occur while writing and how they overcome them. This Might Get Weird has helped me laugh. I’m sure that sounds weird but there are times when I need a break from focusing on work, finances, and even a break from my kids (who I adore) but having a good laugh at some unbelievable events has helped to relieve stress and give my mind a break from all the chaos going on around me.

Two other notable mentions I would like to include are the podcasts Basic Witches hosted by Leah Knauer and Rachel Laforest, and Mile Higher Podcast hosted by Josh Thomas and Kendall Rae. These podcasts are more on the preference side so if you don’t like tarot readings or anything related to witchcraft, Basic Witches would not be for you. And if you don’t like true crime or conspiracy theories, I wouldn’t recommend Mile Higher Podcast. However, if you like to expand your tastes, both podcasts are enjoyable and I learn a lot from them both.
