your qfoolish post !! i agree with it especially apart about qfoolish's immortality (or, the lack thereof). it is fine to theorize/speculate and it's to fun headcanon him as such (especially when qbad is in the conversation) but ive always been so confused when people say him being immortal as canon

exactly this, I love to headcanon him as immortal myself even but i think it's worth being kept out of character analysis intended to be based on canon. I feel like misinformation just got unintentionally spread through the fandom confusing things.

Qfoolish is fascinating if you take the time to look into his pov and unique relationship with morality and it kinda sucks seeing that get brushed over with a general "he has low empathy because he's immortal" when that isn't even canon. There's a lot of subtle nuance to qfoolish that often ends up dismissed unfortunately

You know the biggest misinformation Mika haters peddle about Ginoza is he hates her which is objectively,canonically false.Trust me if he hated her he wouldn’t open up about Kougami to her of all people.(That Citizen Kane convo was just chef’s kiss)..He wouldn’t deduct about Mika giving away Aoi Tsunemori’s location and keep it to himself..He wouldn’t try to change her perception about latent criminals by asking her what kind of crimes she thinks Yayoi might commit..There’s this manga extra where Mika was calling him to talk about a transaction with Frederica but even after the conversation was finished he just happily excused himself to talk to her in private(I think you’d be a hotpot boss too🥹).It’s so clear that she looks to him for guidance/comfort and he’s more than willing to provide that.She keeps calling him because she’d rather not talk to that horrible blonde and he keeps answering her when he doesn’t have to.My favourite part is his shit eating grin whenever he sees Mika..Like it’s so endearing..I don’t you can watch/read all that and just say it with confidence that Ginoza hates her.He so obviously likes her..

Yes, yes, YES to all of this. If you’ve made it through PP3 and *still* think that Ginoza hates Mika, then I have to believe you lack even the most basic form of media comprehension. Even in PP2, it’s clear he admires her confidence, conviction, and drive, although he doesn’t always think she’s using them correctly. Which is one of the reasons he takes such a vested interest in her — he likes her and doesn’t want to see her go down the same dark path he did. She can be a better version of him. And that’s just in PP2! By the time we get to Sinners of the System and PP3, it’s so obvious he finds her amusing and enjoys being around her. I know I mentioned this in a previous post, but Mika is the only person we ever see Ginoza tease or joke around with. Even if you don’t view their relationship as romantic, you can’t deny that there’s an unspoken fondness on both sides. They make a good team and genuinely care about each other.

Love that you mentioned the Citizen Kane scene from the novel, because it’s such a great example of Ginoza confiding in Mika — something we see him do several times throughout the series. If he didn’t like her, why would he talk to her about Kougami, or confess how guilty he still feels over his father’s death, or admit to the mistakes he himself made as an Inspector? Clearly, he feels safe with her. He doesn’t even talk to Akane about this stuff, and I think the reason why is pretty simple — after his demotion from Inspector to Enforcer, he placed her on a moral pedestal that makes her impossible to relate to, despite his devotion to her and her cause. But Mika, he can relate to. Mika, he can understand. She’s someone who reminds him of the person he used to be, someone he can trust and confide in, and that’s so important.

At this point, I’m convinced Mika haters are just ignoring canon because they can’t stand the fact that Ginoza actually likes her a lot.

I agree with you and I also want to add something-- it seems like sometimes ppl take a scene on the show and mistakenly make it about byler and that is why they misinterpret certain scenes and characters's actions imho. Often times I see ppl taking a milvn scene and misinterpretating that scene to be about byler. Like you said before, for example mike staying awake at the hospital in s1 scene was there to show his continous grief over El and that scene wouldnt have been there if it wasnt to show his grief. And the most common thing i've seen is ppl taking Mike being sad at the snowball and making it a byler moment when in fact it is a blatant mlvn moment, and its about him being sad that El is not there with him to dance and he's alone, like... we literally watch Mike's face brighten when El arrives and the scene is meant to be about El and Mike. But when ppl take that scene and make it about Byler by misinterpretating, they come to false conclusions (imho). Like there's more such as Mike destroying El's fortress in S1 after El leaves has nothing to do with Will... but i keep seeing that it is somehow about Mike thinking about Will when it is clear the scene was meant to show that Mike was angry bc she lost El as a friend bc she left. I've also seen ppl using the music "every breathe you take" as an evidence of mike feeling lost or jealous secretly and him thinking abt Will, when the song itself actually was about the mindflayer watching the party ( but more likely Will tbh).

And while i am of the "ppl can i interpret scenes however they want" opinion, i do also think that some of the things come of as heavy misinterpretations.

Yeah the whole thing of making midlevin scenes about byler is something that I use to partake in, but now I'm seeing how it's reductive to his character to make everything he says and does about Will. I feel like there's the GA/midlevins who watched the show through a heteronormative lenses, then there's gay!Mike bylers watching the show through byler lenses. Two opposite sides of the spectrum, and neither are truly watching the show for what it is.

And I can't really be mad at either, because I've been both. Stranger Things in general leans heavily on the "show don't tell" storytelling, and people can interpret scenes in tons of different ways and still love the show, but there's a sever lack of self-awareness and a lot of misinterpretation of scenes on the far sides of the spectrum. I don't think that's ever going to change, but it get aggravating being surrounded by people who don't perceive the show in the same way you do.
