What about the "Cheap" Nikon Z7 II in 2024?

Relative term that is. I mean with the Nikon Z8 priced at approximately USD4000, the USD2500 asking price of Nikon Z7 II today seems like a steal for an equally competent camera? DxO fairs both camera right up there, surprisingly with the older sibling even scoring a hair better in almost every area than her newer iteration.

I mean if resolution is your gem here, I think you would be pleased with settling with Z7 II. But if for anything additional (except mobility), the Z8 is designed to eat her up for breakfast.

One caveat though...in the open field, sometimes, 300g can subtlely translate to 3kg, hitting you like a hammer in your wrist, shoulders and body AFTER a week of shoot. It usually begins with a discomfort that lingers towards a looming pain that refuses to go away even with a few days rest. Its that annoying.

I am not talking about excursion shoot for a week sort of load but the 10-12 hours of carrying those gears in your hand kind of shoot. For those, I would stop here and say nothing more...go get the Nikon Z7 II.

And if you would counter this thought with say, the "carrying straps" argument, then you would realize almost none of us who works as pro put straps on our gears.
