he/him - to be fair to the man, even as old as he is he’s as accepting as a person could be with pronouns.

Bisexual & Biromantic - it’s fair to say erik has struggled insanely with love and loss but never who he was, if anything having to conform in the centuries when environments were less accepting is just another log added to the fire of reasons he hates the government and those willing to stand with them.

Neutral evil - he’d lean more toward chaotic evil if he didn’t care so much for his own kind but when challenged he’s more than willing to jump into being chaotic evil when he sees fit.

if they weren’t dusted, what did they get up to in those five years, be as in depth as you want, the more the better:

It was a struggle, the first year was the worst; it was the feeling of failure because it made him realize he couldn’t do what he’d always been fighting for. That despite all the years he’d spent seeking revenge and building a place of safety in Genosha for mutants to seek refuge, he was as helpless as the humans were and It pushed him to return to his enemy/former allies at Xavier’s school because he felt there was no other choice.Genosha wasn’t even half of what it had been prior to the snap, mutants left and the brotherhood of mutants disbanded because they’d lost too much.

( I could certainly see him having felt willing enough to reach out to the Avengers, it’s just a case of whether they were willing to answer or if they basically had nothing if this was about year 2 / 3 I could see a decent plot where he was perhaps turned away by the Avengers and formed a group somewhat like the flag smashers ).

By year four he isolated himself on the rundown island, burying himself in drink and loneliness feeding into his self hatred.

On the return of those dusted, he had no answers for his brotherhood or those who had once resided on utopia, instead he rebuilt the island as a refuge for his mutant kind and those with abilities who sought a home that had been taken from them because the government unsurprisingly did not know how to handle the return of half of the population and simply/willingly removed people from the places they’d made their homes.

are they aligned to any specific team/groups/etc and if so, how did they join and why if not, are they looking to join a team and if so, why:

X-MEN ( formerly/sometimes still fights with them ) - It just occasionally works out that he needs them or they need him and regardless of their disagreements he’ll always be around for Charles’ school and X-Men.

Brotherhood of Mutants - they’re his closest kin and the people he trusts the most ( or at least is willing to put partial trust into ).

Flag Smashers - I could see him having aligned himself with the group because he disagreed with the methods the government were taking post the return of those that had been lost.

where do they currently live/been living since the return snap:

Utopia/New York in Xavier’s School - probably at the disapproval of plenty of the people that reside in the school but he stands by that he’s doing his best to work on himself ( what they don’t know wont hurt them ).

what have they been doing personally and/or professionally since the return snap:

Had a brief stint with teaching at the school but eventually decided it wasn’t for him and felt a little weird about his double life fighting the government with the flag smashers.

ramble a bit about them, their past, what their current motivations are, go as in depth as you like. again, the more the better:

( So basically I hate that the movie adaptation probably just works better in terms of fitting erik in and also just being able to make it make sense with the MCU. so i’m gonna give a quick timeline of how I see things making sense )

1930 - Max is born to a Jewish family in Germany.

1944 - Max is Separated from his family forcibly by Nazi troupes in Germany occupied Poland where they’d attempted to seek refuge in. Under the stress of this his powers manifest and he’s able to bend open the metal gate separating him and his parents before being knocked out by a guard.

1944 - Max meets Sebastian Shaw who begins to experiment on him, first attempting a friendly approach which didn’t work to unlock the rest of his abilities. So Shaw shot and killed Max’s mother in front of him, unlocking Max’s abilities through his anger and pain.

1944 until 1945 - Max was tortured and experimented on by Shaw until he was liberated from Auschwitz.

1945 - 1949 Max takes refuge with gypsies, he adopts the name Erik and uses his powers for the first time on his boss who is cheating him out of pay. He has Anya around this time who ends up dying in a fire as a consequence of erik using his powers on his boss and this is the first time erik hates humanity, turning the guns of the soldiers onto themselves and making them shoot.

1949 - 1955 erik travels to israel and works with holocaust survivors ( could be the first time he and charles meet but that’s entirely upto anyone that picks up charles ).

1955 until 1962 - Erik fights in the Vietnam war until he hears word of Shaw in Switzerland, choosing to fight because he’d begun to hear about more of those that were like him and despised the prejudice of humans ( this could certainly allow for an early brief first meeting for Charles and Erik like in the comics where Charles gets the inkling that Erik is like him ).

1962 - Erik travels to Switzerland, where he interrogates a Swiss banker as to the whereabouts of Sebastian Shaw. He is directed to Villa Gesell, where he finds two Nazi officers having a drink at the bar. After seeing an old photograph of Shaw with the two officers, Erik kills them and proceeds to travel to Miami to face off against Shaw but ends up being defeated by Shaw’s Hellfire club.

1962 until 1980’s - Erik sets up the first version of his brotherhood . Erik is also captured and imprisoned for a time, having a batch of the supersoldier serum injected meaning he does not age.

1990 until 2000’s Erik meets magda in a brief time of refuge, which he took believing xavier regarding being able to live peacefully though this doesn’t last long and soon Erik leaves after seeing the descrimination against his own kind. Although he was unaware of the birth of wanda and pietro, his children.

2000 until 2010 - a lot of fights between xavier’s xmen and magneto take place, due to their disagreement over mutants fitting in with humans though on occasion they have no choice but to work together and regardless of their differing morals, Erik cares a profound amount for charles that he will on occasion join forces should they need to.

2010 until 2012 - much like the anti-hero movements, mutants were being treated the same though with varying issues from humanity that only fuelled erik’s anger toward them.

2012 - erik briefly joins forces with the x-men during the battle in manhattan but only because loki seemed careless about whether he was harming humans or mutants. Due to being mutant kind and the movements that were being formed against them publicly, there was no mention of their input in the battle. Yet another reason erik’s anger was fuelled. ( can be changed if needed )

2013 - magneto and his brotherhood team up with mystique against the avengers, the first movement made that introduces mutants to them. Although the driving force of the interaction is mainly mystique, magneto is only involved because of his connection to her and her abilities.

2014 - due to magneto and mystiques movements, seen only as terrorist acts trask sets up the sentinel program.

2015 - mutant massacre, another occasion where the x-men and brotherhood fight together ( though left open so that if any x-men join they can decide whether they were asked for help with the events of age of ultron or if they were fighting in the massacre ).

2016 - due to the mutant registration act that aligns with the sokovia accords, mutants now face more descrimination than ever due to them being able to be identified and targeted more easily by prejudice. Erik makes his first public appearance, warning humans that should their prejudice continue he’ll make all of them pay.

2016 until 2018 - erik’s public display leaves the X-Men with no choice but to move against him and the brotherhood, they fight and erik is defeated. Imprisoned for a brief time, though escapes and seeks refuge elsewhere

2018 until 2019 - erik briefly attempts to amend his ways, seeking out the aid of his old friend xavier but this lasts briefly before he returns to his refuge.

2019 - he joins forces with known heroes to protect mutant kind from thanos ( though done selfishly because I enjoy him having neutral moments ).

2019 until 2024 - seeks refuge in the formed utopia and despite his prejudice towards humans, he begins to reform slightly, even seeking a home in xaviers school.

2024 until 2028 - aligns with the flag smashers, only due to a shared frustration at the government's choices since the return and erik’s brotherhood still being weaker than ever.

one plot idea, big or small, you’d like to do with them or connection/dynamic to explore:

xavier/magneto in any form is always fun, I enjoy xavier always being the only link magneto has to humanity, even when he despises them completely.

I also enjoy magneto being an antihero more than I do a complete villain which would leave plenty of options for plots regarding character development for magneto to begin to change as villain’s rarely get the option to in the mcu and while I do think erik will always have prejudices, the snap and return probably influenced a lot of his choices regarding change.

Wanda & Pietro - I always write erik as being their father because it’s another link to humanity in a way that means he has at least a pull in both directions regarding whether he wants to be good or bad. when / if he found out them, i’m certain thats going to be all he needs to at least consider changing his ways in a bigger and more meaningful way even if it doesn’t last long.
