yesss !!! she has so roden behabiours she is very rodent to me

she grinds her teeth when shes like sad or anxious or any negative emotion, (very audible) and when shes happy or excited or any positive emotions she does like chattrring sounds ? do you understand .. maybe look it up like happy chattrring sounds (alos bruxing, she does that when shes happy !)

zhe likes burrpwong ! by this i mean if she is out she WILL dig a hige fucking hole and stixk her head in there but also just at home she likes to take all the blanlets possible and burrow inside them

she is alsk very flexible and agile !! she likes to climb things and shes very good at it whe likes feeling up high (this is inspired by migas post, she also sometimes falls asleep in very odd positions whikst climbing or beong up higj somehwre and she uses her tail for support)

her eyes glow in the dark like any other mammal (demon ragathas eyes also fo this !) but demon pomni also has her littl3 cheek markings glow also

she can fill up her cheeks ! like a hamster, so she can just shove a lot of things in there and then she will usually hoard it sormwhere and save it for later (she has a lot of moldy expored food because of this becaude she doesnr understand tjat food goes bad because she is wuote literally able to eat anything and be fine, nun ragatha has totell her because she gets very worried that she may get sick)

i havent drawn this but she limes to play fight, its just sowmthing she does to show affection and everyrhinf (she does this with demon ragatha because demon ragatha also enjlys play fighting, but whilst one is more prey .. inspired ? (demon pomni) the orher is mlre predator inspired (demon ragatha)

her teeth are alwyas growing, whofh is why shes really into biting (they keeo her teeth a short length, otherwide if they grow too long they start to curve and she finds it hard to close her mouth) ragatha also has claws/nails that grow too long (which is why shes more into scratching things (poor nun pomni 💔)) but she is unfortunately wuote scared of cutting them so nun pomni has to like bribe her with kisses to keep them an okay length

also, the war continues ... nun ragatha is the only thing keeping the raccon community alove and safe

Cheering to yourself you looked at the screen, confirming that you just purchased the new voicelines that you were only able to purchase during this event. To say that this event was stressful was an understatement. Heck, even the app seemed like it wanted to prevent you from earning all the materials and exchanging them for the lines of text, the App crashing and freezing whenever there was the slightest inconvenience. It was also very different from what you were used to in this game. Usually it was always light content and a few sprinkles of Angst for entertainment but this time it was like someone took the game and decided to turn it into something that could only be described with “nightmare fuel if real”. With the usual content creators of the game being unusually quiet, if not to say absolutely silent, about it there were no guides to look up, no one seemingly caring to explore the new lore presented. Tapping the screen you finally accessed the voicelines, curious about what they had to say about the individual which was at the center of said event, the Overseer

What is your impression of the Overseer?

A kind yet cunning individual. The sea which wouldn't have been in awe of someone without any reason... Well, I can't deny that I myself am also very curious about them. Goodness, I even dare to say that I feel something akin to jealousy towards the two eels of the sea witch. Why that is? Well, even though these two were following her order they were at the end of the day still following the endless wisdom of the Overseer and whatever their genius plan was. Hah... what I would do to be in their position...

The view of your homeland, what is your opinion on that?

“Thankfully I can say that I am rather satisfied with how we view the Overseer. If we were to have mostly a religious view of them I doubt we would be able to have such a critical view like they do. A thing that is also quite known about them is their free mind. Whereas others were bound by traditions and morale they were able to think beyond those boundaries. It's said that exactly this made the sea witch create her garden. Alovely hobby, wouldn't you agree?”

What would you do if you were ever to meet them?

“I would immediately try to prove my worth to them. I am aware that this might sound rather off-putting to some but I can assure you that I am doing this purely out of admiration which they earned. Everything about them practically screams to be a good leader and schemes. There is nothing more I wish for than to help them with their contracts just as I do right now with Azul. But if there were some kind of annoyance trying to get between them and me... Hmmm... I am not sure if I were able to hold myself together....”

What is your impression of the Overseer?

“Oh, that is a question I did not expect... All I can say is that there is no being higher than them. Even the God of death, the Underworld bowed before them. From what I know the Fairy of Thorns always looked up to them during the war, orienting herself on their might like a sailor would on the stars. It is quite unbelievable but when we take into consideration that they are a God then this is much easier to understand. Sadly, there has not been any sign of them ever planning to descend or anything akin to that. My Grandmother even told me that even my own Grandchildren are not guaranteed of ever meeting them. What a pity...”

The view of your homeland, what is your opinion on that?

“Thankfully I am able to say that I am very proud of it. Many other places see the Overseer at least as a person of high importance, which is not even close to what they deserve, but we know that they are in truth the ruler above all, a God. Simply saying that their actions make them deserve respect is blasphemy. After all, a God is the owner of a world and they are our God. That alone tells us that they do not need to earn respect. They simply deserve it by existing. If anyone would ever dare to talk back go to them the Valley would gladly grind the opposing power to dust. There is nothing in this world more holy than them. Child of man, now that we are already on the subject, if you ever were to visit my home, would you like to attend a church mass with me? They always have something to themselves that makes you feel closer to them.”

What would you do if you ever met them?

“Child of man, as ironic as it may sound, but I am nothing more than a dutiful servant waiting for their masters call. To hope that I were ever to meet them is something I am unable to imagine even in my deepest dreams. But if it were to happen? Hmm... I can not say for certain but I think I would try to be as normal as possible to them. I myself am feared for my power so it might be somewhat soothing if they were to be viewed with eyes that express warm respect rather than fear. But I would never be able to forget that we all are nothing but small threats in their endless woven web. They have a plan, fate as some call it, for us all. We all can just be happy to feel their presence even the slightest bit in our lives.”

Weaknesses: His willpower is tied to his lifeforce so if he loses the will to continue he will die.

Superhuman durability (while alove barely flinched at being stabbed or haveing beer bottles broken over his head. He also took a brick to the face and recovered. He's also used to bears biting him and the cursed alastor cat trying to tear into him. Even weaker demons and imps can survive impact force of high degree. Being Alastors and Voxs age he also survived up to 70 execution days he also can take getting stabbed by an angel spear and keep fighting.) Subsonic speed (as a sinner he could keep up with deer and elk. He also can dodge bullets and knife throws. Manage to dodge both canon fire and bombs during a turf war.) A skilled hunter and chef due to his life of being a traveling pickpocket who had to hunt and steal to survive. As a postman of hell he is a capable driver and can teleport though it takes time. Has worked enough jobs to know if someone is trying to con him (mailman pickpocket woodcarving factory worker) despite him not a good formal education nor understanding most modern things he's a willy sort and can somehow use sir pretentious high grade steampunk gear.

Weaknesses:as a sinner/fallen Angel he's still weak to holy weapons like angel steel. He's also not as skilled or as smart as the overlords he also will lay his life down no matter what for anyone he cares for. He's also not a fighter he's a brawler. He also has a slight phobia of explosions and fire due to his cause of death [died in a factory explosion from flying shrapnel.] Will avoid anything that complicates his life anymore since he wants a simple life in hell with those he loves.

Let’s Talk About: MHA Chapter 367–The Trauma, Rage and Ideals of Izuku Midoriya

“Rage is like a poison, you let it infect you for too long and you’ll become something....ugly.”

That quote perfectly sums up the start of this chapter. With the help of Star and Stripes squadron Midoriya covers the distance to the dome as fast as he can to arrive to help, he expect there ti be a battle in progress.

He expects them to still be fighting maybe injured but still fighting.

What he gets is his fears coming true.

He sees Bakugou the perskn he’s known the longest aside from their mothers and his father lying here seemingly dead. He sees his senpais on the ground beaten and bloody he sees Mirko down another arm and motionless.

He sees what he feared would happen.

Because Izuku Midoriya left to keep people safe, he left to draw all the attention to him instead of UA. He fought the entirety of Class 1A to try and keep this plan in check and he was convinced to let it go. He was convinced that fighting with them was the better option and once again he was punsihed for that hope.

He was punished for hoping things could be better AGAIN.

Just like he was for ten years of his life.

Just like he was every time a villain attack happened.

Just like he was when he let Eri go.

Just like he was when this war started and they failed to stop them all then and there.

Again and again and again he is punished for hope and even before this we can see that this time the hope was fragile. We could see the bags not going away even as the light came back to his eyes and here and now we see the fragile hope crack as he starts hyperventilating.

And Shigaraki taunts him.

He taunts and he taunts and he taunts because he knows that Izukus attacks become simple when hes pushed to rage. When hes pushed to the limit.

And hes right...but although he may be simple we know that his attacks become that much more powerful. More rageful and as they always say...

“Beware the fury of a patient man.”

But in the end Lemillion is there to calm him. To reassure him that theyre all alove, that hope is still there and they can win. They canturn their idewls into reality.

It calms him down somewhat, just enough to keep his rage at the forefront but in check and even then he sticks to his ideals. He sticks to the one thing he wanted to do by becoming a hero.

It wasn’t to become a symbol originally.

It wasn’t to be number one.

It was to save people. That’s all he wanted and if he can he’ll save Shigaraki...or he’ll take both him and AfO down right here and now.

Avatar vs Princess Mononoke: How to have a message youtube comments

When addressing the anti-colonialism narrative, I love bringing up the Tlaxcalans. You know, the people that were systematically harvested for human sacrifices. To be fair with The Last Airbender, the show ended up subverting the whole narrative it established in the beginning with the Fire Nation being cartoon villains. In season 2, we were introduced to Jet, who ended up being a fanatical "freedom fighter" willing to slaughter a whole town of innocent civilians, and the Dai Lee of Ba Sing Se, which was more or less just the Gestapo with a little bit of KGB/CIA mixed in with that MK Ultra type s**t they were doing. And season 3 spent nearly its entire length giving perspective from the Fire Nation's side, showing us that there were plenty of good people within the Fire Nation living under a totalitarian regime, as well as of course giving us the conclusion of Zuko's redemption arc. We also gotta remember that everyone's favorite Uncle Iroh was once a Fire Nation general that besieged Ba Sing Se, and it was only the death of his son (a death that occurred during the said siege he was responsible for) that led to his disillusionment with the Fire Nation leadership and the war it was waging.

I'm sick and tired of the fools who insist that humans are the "most evil creature" or something, that no other creature would do what we do and they all live in balance. Great to hear someone finally say that yeah, as countless invasive species have shown, animals naturally exploit for their own benefits; the reason they "live in balance" is because even the apex animals have sufficient opposition that they can't get the sort of upper hand humans have. It's basically a race that wasn't designed to be won. Somehow, we won, but the great power and control that we won requires an equal amount of care and caution. With great power comes great responsibility. I know it's cliche, but that doesn't mean it isn't a fundamental truth.

I personally am more versed in the medieval world, particularly the Welsh Dark Ages and Norse culture, but I see the patterns that reverberated in the Americas. Nothing is new, and to say otherwise is foolhardy. Your videos are important, as the clear emphasis you place on nuance needs to be further addressed. The smallpox blanket thing is interesting, because i remember it taught as fact at school but it seems like it was just a myth now. I saw one study on it which basically said it would backfire if you tried to do it, because they really didn't understand how disease travelled and probably would just get sick handling freshly infected blankets, which would be much less dangerous by the time they had reached the natives.

So it was a hypothetical bomb that blows up in your face if you are fool enough to build one.

It was much more likely that the smallpox infection just had already gotten some resistance in the europeans but the natives had to get it the hard way, and the horrors of the massive native war with the aztecs just made everything so much worse.

If the aztecs hadn't been so horrible, it's entirely possible the spanish would have been beaten back.

This is an excellent video. You've made me realize why I love and admire Princess Mononoke and don't love and respect Avatar. I believe James Cameron knows that the only way Avatar: The Way of Water can be a better film than Avatar is if the former has a better message than the latter. I even remember an interview from around 2010 where Cameron says that he showed Avatar to some South-American indigenous tribe(s) and that their response was that the hero of the film solved his problems by contributing to the conflict and war between the humans and the Na'vi and that they don't see that as the best way of solving problems. Cameron subsequently said that Avatar 2 would have to have a better message than Avatar if he were to make it. I look forward to Avatar: The Way of Water for that reason.

Me, Specs, Race ,Albert and Crunchie are all walking ahead of the rest of the newsies, we pass docs where I see that boy from yesterday, Riff. I decide to play it cool.. wait I dont like him? No y/n you've had one conversation, just..focus on selling papes.

I say claping my hands together, I'm trying the be optimistic, but in reality we all know that news is dry at the minute

I was walking to docs, I heard word Tony worked there, the plan was to go in and out, I cant be botherd to het scolded by Valentina.. again, but faith had ather plans, as I was walking to docs I sore the newies on there way to get the papers for today, and who's infront, Boots from yesterday. You see this is when you knew I was in deep. When I typically see someone I want to get with (usually as a one time thing) I would wink at them ad they pass by, sometimes approaching them and making flirtatious comments. But I start to forget when this newise looks over in my direction, I forgot about that and smiled, every awqualdly. And that's when I knew I was in so deep. And I never wanted out.

SPOILER ALERT FOR SQUID GAME!!!!!!!

After watching Squid Game:

1. Jun-Ho had better be alove because I will lose it if he isn't.

2. Il-Nam got off too damn easy and I WILL NOT change my mind.

3. The instructions of the marble game were not given because Il-Nam was physically unable to; I imagine that if he was able to sneak up onto the top bed in the night fight/game, then he probably gets up to tell the guards the next game.

4. I hate the VIPs.

5. Ali deserved better.

6. I know for a fact the only game I would survive in is the dolgana game, and even that I'm sure I'd lose in.

7. I'm not a fan of the english dub, but I do like Gi-Hun's voice actor.

8. I hate Mi-Neyo and I'm glad she died. Nothing against the actress, she did a great job in her role, and kudos to the writers for making such a character.

9. Ddajki looks like fun, and I'm pretty sure I'd win with enough practice.

10. That Tug-of-war game would've made my gym teachers in high-school get hot and bothered weak in the knees.

11. The ending was brutal.

12. Sae-Byeok is a badass and I blame her death on the glass she pulled out and Sang-Woo.

13. I see the name Sang-Woo and keep imagining Killing Skalking's Sang-Woo in Squid Game.

14. I need an audio of the robot saying, 'Red light, Green light,' EXACTLY like how it's said in the show: slowz but it gets faster.

15. The players and guards would IMMEDIATELY want me dead because I would jump on the beds and climb onto the highest bed I could and claim it as MINE.

16. NO AMOUNT of money is worth risking my life over or dying.

17. If I had to have a VIP mask, I'd either get a moose or a horse. TEST ME.

18. Inspector Royal is a weird name. Why did they call it that? Is there something I'm missing culturally?

19. I hope we see a fist fight with Gi-Hun and Jun-Ho against In-Ho because I hate suffering.

20. I hope Gi-Hun shuts down the games and parades about it to his daughter and wife, at the very least.

THE SEED OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (pages 13-15)

- “The Holy Spirit is the energy sent by God.” ((said by a Catholic priest in Florence))

- When you touch deep understanding and love, you are healed.

- I told the priest that I felt that all of us also have the seed of the Holy Spirit in us, the capactiy of healing, transforming, and loving. When we touch that seed, we are able to touch God the Father and God the Son.

PRESENT MOMENT (pages 15-18)

- Touching deeply is an important practice. We touch with our hands, our eyes, our ears, and also with our mindfulness. The first practice I learned as a novice monk was to breathe in and out consciously, to touch each breath with my mindfulness, identifying the in-breath as in-breath and the out-breath as out-breath. When you pracitce with way, your mind and body come into alignment, your wandering thoughts come to a stop, and you are at your best.

- Peace is already there to some extent: the problem is whether we know how to touch it.

- Conscious breath is the most basic Buddhist practice for touching peace.

- An exercise to touch peace:

“ Breathing in, I calm my body.

Breathing out, I smile.

- The word “Buddha” come from the root buddh, which means to wake up. A Buddha is someone who is awake. When Buddhists greet one another, we hold our palms together like a lotus flower, breath in and out midfully, bow, and say silently, “A lotus for you, a Buddha to be.” This kind of greeting produces two Buddhas at the same time. We awknowledge the seeds of awakening, Buddhahood, that are within the other person, whatever his or her age or status. And we practie mindful breathing to touch the seed of Buddhahood within ourselvs. Sometimes we can touch the Holy Spirit or Buddhahood when we are alone, but it is easiest to practice in a community.

- It is not a matter of faith; it is a matter of practice.

Absolutely, nonnie!

Mods for all three games:

ALOT/ALOV - Absolutely stunning graphical overhaul. The entire game looks gorgeous, especially if you download all of the add-on files they recommend. It comes with a user-friendly installer that makes downloading everything and applying it to each game a breeze.

ME3Tweaks Mod Manager - Easy-to-use mod manager with a number of built-in utilities, like enabling the console or validating mods packaged as DLC. It works with all three games and takes the headache out of using multiple mods.

FemShep Appearance Consistency Project - This isn’t exactly an “essential” mod, since most people like to play as custom FemSheps, but this puts the default FemShep design from ME3 into ME1 and 2. This is probably my favorite mod of them all, because I almost always play as default Shep, and having her look exactly the same throughout all three games is such a relief and improves my immersion tenfold. I recommend installing the version with Ellise’s textures. 10/10 for Jane Shepard at her best.

Mass Effect Recalibrated - Multiple fixes for common bugs and continuity/design oversights in each game. Vastly improves immersion and overall experience.

Mass Effect 1 Mods:

Faster Elevators - Doesn’t even need an explanation lmao. Less time spent listening to that awful elevator music on the Citadel, without losing the squad dialogue. Truly a blessing

AMD Lighting Fix - This is necessary if you have a 2010< AMD processor. Something about ME1 and newer AMD hardware just doesn’t get along, and you get a game-stopping glitch where all of the textures are black blobs. This prevents that.

Mass Effect 3 Mods:

Expanded Galaxy Mod - Adds a lot of neat features. to ME3′s gameplay, like squadmate casual wear (especially nice for Garrus romancers that got sick of seeing him in his armor 99.9% of the time) and LI cabin invites, as well as some neat textbox missions and changes to the War Assets system, to name a few things. There’s just a hell of a lot of cool stuff in this one.

Ark Mod - A really rad and challenging add-on for EGM. New enemies, environmental hazards, and a new crazy intense, fully-voiced N7 mission.

Spectre Expansion Mod - Also an EGM add-on mod. Seamless changes and additions to the Spectre terminal, Shadow Broker terminal, War Assets, and stores.

BackOff - Dialogue and story overhaul for love interests. Fixes numerous issues with ME3′s romances AND fixes the dialogue wheel to distinguish between being nice to a character and flirting with said character. No more getting ninjamanced!

Better Dreams - No more Starchild nightmares. Shepard’s nightmares reflect their traumatic experiences/fears in general, based in part on the choices you’ve made. Dream scenes are also cutscenes instead of requiring player interaction.

JohnP’s Alternate Mass Effect Happy Ending Mod - Overrides BioWare’s lousy, plot-hole filled ending. You still have to play your cards right to get the best ending, but in any situation, it’s still a much better ending. I like this version the best--it just feels much more seamless than the original MEHEM, in my opinion. Installation option B removes Starchild as well, so with Better Dreams mod, it’s a win-win there.

Aliens! Exposition! Guns! Explosions! Kickass Ladies! Betrayal! So much death!

The first thing Mass Effect does after coming out of the introduction is assure us that yes, we have aliens

and we have hot guys (and hot aliens, if you’re into that sort of thing.)

They should have made an advertisement pointing out these things just for me so I would have paid release price for this game. Ah well, I’ve bought it on 360, Steam and Origin now. They have my money.

We’re going to make it most of the way through Eden Prime in this post.

One thing Mass Effect does a lot of in the beginning here is exposition. There’s a lot to learn about the state of the galaxy in 2148, and there are people there to make sure you learn about it. Jeff and Kaidan only do a little bit of exposition, you learn about Nihilus, a tiny bit about Spectres, and that Captain Anderson is badass. I wish this scene actually lasted longer -- this is the only time we see Kaidan away from his Orange Corner (or that other orange wall) on the ship for awhile. I guess there’s the conference room, but still. If they ever do a remaster, please Bioware, let the companions move around the ship like in ME3 and give our boy better lighting.

I love the flow of the Normandy SR1. It feels the easiest to get around in since it’s so much smaller... except when you have to get on the elevator. I also love the dark theme. The ME2 SR2 always feels so... blinding. The only thing I miss from the SR2 really is my decked out Captain’s quarters. I mean does anyone even ever go into the ME1 quarters except to get the one codex entry until it’s sexytime?

I do like ME1′s use of ambient conversations, you get to learn a little about Pressley and Jenkins before talking to them. Those conversations, though, are just such exposition dumps. I think they do it fairly well, but there’s so much to remember. Both Jenkins (with Chakwas) and Pressley really harp on what and who Spectres are, pretty sure even before you talk to Nihilus you have an inkling you’re gonna eventually be one.

I honestly wish we had more actual interaction with Pressley than what we get here, he has very little to say after this point. Another hope for a remaster.

This kid Jenkins, he’s got a good career ahead of him if we can tame his hot-headedness. That’ll be his role in the game, I’m sure, the kid you mentor and grow into a reflection of you. Good to know he’s from the planet we’re heading to, I’m sure he’ll be a valuable source of information there.

Having played a lot of World of Warcraft, and I mean a LOT, from the alpha, then release, for the next two or three years, the fact that his name was Jenkins was actually a bit of a hint for me even then. But more in the “Wouldn’t it be funny if...?” and then he did. Nice.

I’m really glad Chakwas gets fleshed out a little more in just the one more conversation after this one and in future games. Because there’s not much to say about her here.

Whew! Exposition over, right? We’ve learned about Spectres, the First Contact War, about Eden Prime, that we’re in the Alliance, that there’s Turians and a council that governs things and... we’re good, right?

Wait, didn’t Anderson say he was already with Nihilus in the conference room? Where’d he go? What a bro, to step out and let Nihilus make a big turn-around moment of introduction to us. Okay, more loredump. Cool. Really getting the concept of Spectres now, for sure, especially from this guy, who is one!

Finally, Anderson. Just in time to tell us about Spectres, and Eden Prime, and now it’s time to learn about the Protheans. Whaaaaat? You want ME to maybe be a Spectre? I’m shocked!

Oh sorry, Annakie just flew through time from ME3 to stare into the camera incredulously.

I’m sure that this will be a decision that will be deeply impactful through the entirety of the rest of the series.

But here we learn about Protheans, and they lost me a bit on that one when we first played the game. Who the fuck cares about what happened 20,000 years ago? THIS IS THE FUTURE!!! We’re in SPACE!

Well, we wouldn’t get away from the Protheans so easily.

Oh what the FUCK is that thing? You’ve hooked me right back in. Tell Alenko and Jenkins to suit up? LET’S GO.

You guys... ALOV is so good, and so pretty. And these screenshots look shittier on tumblr!! Look how clear these movies are now. And these are just 720p! They’re working to upscale them to 4k! Again I say, all hail the modders.

Still, that giant red spot doesn’t look so good for the people living there...

I’m sure it’s fine.

We’re all suited up, but sadly the super cool alien isn’t coming with us? Didn’t he say he was here to follow and observe us? Well, he knows what he’s doing.

Anyone else already willing to die for Anderson fifteen minutes into this game?

The sky is supposed to be that color red, right? Right Jenkins?

As cool as this level design is, also something that could use improving. There’s like... no housing here? Just a bunch of tall towers on the ground all really realy far apart from each other? You’re on a new planet and everyone lives inside a giant tower? I mean, good for preventing Urban Spawl I guess. I’d love to see a more populated Eden Prime. Even in ME3 we just saw a small dig site and more towers in the distance.

Anyway, better level up. Jenkins is young and needs some training if he’s gonna survive this mission!

Here we go, show us what you’ve got!

Shit.

My first time through, I truly thought I’d fucked up and probably reloaded this fight two or three times before accepting he was just... supposed to die. And then I remembered his name was Jenkins, knew it was intentional, and laughed.

Honestly, it’s a great fakeout with making us feel like Jenkins is important, and then having him lose the battle right away. ME1 is pretty brutal that way. It’s a good way to signal that this game is probably going to rip your heart out, so get used to it.

Shepard and Kaidan have a moment, and I like this because it’s really the first time I think you can really start showing who your Shepard is, with how you react to Jenkins’ death. Either way, I like it that she tells Kaidan that we need to focus. I also love that, though we don’t get to see a moment for Jenkins from here on out in ME1, that they finally gave his memory a moment in ME3.

I love Flycam.

What. An. Entrance. For. Ashley. Williams.

Bioware, give us Ashley and Kaidan living in a Mass Effect Remaster, please. I will pay $100 for this DLC. (I know, I KNOW.) I have only played through with Ashley living all the way through once. I’m sorry Ash, I love you. I just... LOVE Kaidan.

But hey that’s HOURS away. For now, she’s with us, and she’s amazing.

Grotesque and yet... great visuals. This is when you realize these Geth aren’t playing around. This is Bad Bad.

Iiiiif you also used to always punch out Miguel and then like awhile later realized how shitty that was and now know that the “Geinuis is the other side of the coin of Madness” speech here is also really shitty... raise your hand. Especially since Miguel is, you know, right. Anyway, do better on a remaster, Bioware?

The one good thing here was the “Thank the Maker” at the very beginning of the encounter. I want Shepard to visit Thedas. Give us this DLC, Bioware!!

Oh Nihilus, you were too pretty, and trusting, for this world.

Bioware, again, in the remaster... please go with your original plan and not make Saren all Gethed out this early. I wish that could be modded away. It’s so distracting to have him be OBVIOUSLY HALF MACHINE and everyone being like “Saren? Working with the Geth? PREPOSTEROUS!!”

Also, this is just such an OH SHIT moment. Look at that thing! It’s terrifying! Also it’s easy to miss if you’re looking the wrong way, this maybe shoulda been in a cutscene. But even so, when you see it, it fills you with SUCH DREAD. They do such a great job of amping up the tension and drama and mystery bit by bit on Eden Prime. Giving you bits of the greater story and also feeding you pieces that will eventually come together, but not for awhile.

I followed Soverign as long as I could before he disappeared. Got this far away from land. The actual spaces in the game are huge, but we’ll get to more of that later.

Congrats! You all survived! For uh... about two and a half more years?

Can’t believe we can’t loot the Spectre’s body.

Also... the luckiest dock worker in the world. I can never yell at him for sleeping on the job. It’d be hilarious if he showed up alive on Horizon in ME2, and like Haven in ME3.

This is the guy that usually kills me.

OK, this is ridiculously long already. We’ll finish up Eden Prime and get to the Citadel next time.

//OKAY, SO AS PROMISED, here is my long-ass headcanon regarding Peppy's hilaaariously complicated feelings with James, and why I'm a lowkey Jimpeppy shipper despite my Peppy being headcanoned as completely het.... but biromantic. TOOT TOOT, ALL ABOARD THE GARBAGE TRAIN, LET'S GO.

Yes, I do headcanon as Peppy being in mad love with James. Just... without the sexual elements in that love. It's all completely romantic.

I guess I can say it's complicated not only because most people think romantic friendships don't/can't exist, or that they are actually gay relationships in denial, but that's not how I see it. And it's definitely not how Peppy would see it. If he's presented an opportunity for a sexual experience with a male--even if it's James--he'd decline it. He'd be extremely uncomfortable. Part of it is, admittedly, due to being raised in a rather homophobic background, and part of it is being from a generation that didn't understand any type of sexual orientation or gender identity behind cis straights. But upon coming to Corneria, he was exposed to all sorts of people across the gender and sexual spectrum, and thankfully, he was able to overcome his initial bigotry while he was still fairly young. Classic scenario and all that. Hell, I'll admit, I headcanon Lucy as bi, and Peppy would be supportive of a sapphic relationship between his daughter and another woman. That's not the issue. Even if it's with James, or some other guy he'd fall for, the moment they go naked and start exploring each other's bodies, Peppy's anxiety would become too overwhelming. Painful, even. Like nothing is right, no matter what. He'd ultimately feel guilty, and maybe keep making it work. But in the end, it won't make him happy, it won't fulfill him. It'd be like forcing a gay man into straight sex over and over again. THAT kind of unhappiness.

But does that mean he won't be happy with just a romantic relationship? Absolutely not, especially with James. In fact, James is more than just a friend. More than just a brother. More than alover, even. Peppy worships James, even wanting to be just like him. A brave hero who managed to make the best he could out of living in miserable Papetoon. An ace pilot who defied all expectations within the dog-dominant Cornerian Flight Academy. Peppy had Jimmy on a pedestal when they first met, but as they became friends, then wingmates, and even when both obtained their own wives and sired their own children with them... Peppy can't think more than wanting to spend the rest of his life with his Jimmy. Wanting to see the kids grow up, hang out together with Pigma or the girls, go on more adventures, having each other's backs, getting old together... Just. Wanting to be a part of James' life, and him as a part of his. Consummating that desire with sex would, though, feel.... wrong for Peppy. Like he's ruining what special thing they have to an act he feels he otherwise uniquely shares with Vivian. But if they did more non-sexual acts of intimacy like holding hands, hugging, maybe even kissing... then maybe. Maybe. He can't imagine it, though. As far as Peppy knows, James leaves that all to Vixy, and with Peppy to Vivian. And he couldn't have it any other way. That's just how it is, and Peppy would feel wrong if he wished it was any different. What mattered is that James was happy.

"What about when both became widowed, Immy? Do you think they could be together as a couple then?" Well, that is taking into the account of the timeline. I headcanon Vivian dying AFTER the mission to Venom, which became the final straw to Peppy's ability to hold it together after James' death and Pigma's betrayal. If the two would be together, then Vivian would have died before the fateful mission, and you know, I'm cool with RPing/writing with that scenario--after all, Nintendo never really defined WHEN Vivian died, only that she did before the events of Command (for all we know, she could have been alive throughout the Lylat Wars). But if I am to RP Jimpeppy, I'd go with the timeline wherein Vivian died perhaps not long after Vixy did, leaving James and Peppy both as single fathers. Maybe they'd explore the possible of actually hooking up. But in the end, Peppy couldn't bring to himself actually banging James--it'd feel uncomfortable and overwhelming. But he'd be absolutely okay with nonsexual fluff.

Sort of unrelated, but I also picture Peppy having similar feelings with Pigma growing up--wanting to have a friend more than just a friend in a nonsexual manner. The thing is, their relationship was often tested even growing up--Pigma feels as though Peppy pities him more than values him as a true friend sometimes, and Peppy wonders if he's pushing himself onto Pigma where he's not welcome. And you know what, perhaps there is some truth to that. Which is why, upon meeting James, Peppy inadvertively drifted from Pigma, replacing him as that friend whom he wants to give all his love and devotion to... not to mention the fact that Peppy finally had a hero to look up to, instead of forcing himself to be the hero Pigma didn't need. As much as Peppy's love for Pigma was genuine, it was doomed from the start. Peppy's anguish from Pigma's betrayal was not only due to the fact that the one friend he had become so close to ever since they were kids did the unspeakable, but especially because he felt that it was a sign that he--Peppy himself--failed as Pigma's friend.

One of the reasons why Peppy is so fond of Fox and he frequently comments about how he sees James in Fox? In a way, Fox is also his son... as though he was the romantic/marriage partner to James. But he doesn't--and won't--force himself to replace James in Fox's life. Because he knows full well he can't replace James in his. But that knowledge alone won't help relieve him from the pain that Peppy feels he failed as a friend and lover. And he'll carry that guilt to this very day. All he can pray is that, upon Andross' defeat, and aiding Fox into accomplishing this, is that the resolution it'd bring would finally bring peace not only to James' death, but to Peppy's anguish over what happened on that fateful day. By the Saurian mission, it... sooooorta resolved, he'd move on some by then. He was nowhere as happy as he was when James and Pigma flew together with him, but he's come to accept that by now and has resigned himself to aid in Fox, Falco, and Slippy's futures. Which is why he was more than willing to sacrifice himself during the Aparoid Wars--it's not just to save his friends and complete the mission. It's to say goodbye to that present life... and see James and Vivian again.

...Then Assault asspulls him out, and, you know, fine. Peppy perhaps realized... no, his life is not over, he still has more to live for. So he used his final resolve to get an escape pad working despite the likelihood it won't, and somehow, it did. Against all odds. Peppy is a fighter. And after all.... perhaps he though Jimmy won't take kindly onto Peppy just giving up that quickly.

So yeah. TL;DR: Peppy absolutely loves James, seeing him as someone to dump all his love and devotion to past the boundaries of what typically defines friendship, but without any sexual element to it because he doesn't feel it's right. Whether or not James reciprocates that love and devotion is entirely up to the person RPing James and if they are a Jimpeppy shipper. But I'm cool with Peppy's love being unreciprocated.

Lol, if the destruction of a couple recently built confederate monuments is what makes you cry anarchy you're gonna flip when you hear about what the Americans did in pretty nuch every foreign conflict they've been involved in. And also, protestors tearing down monuments is a reaction to Nazis saying they should be left up. You're agreeing with Nazi's here. Like. The people who think genocide is a good thing unless it's being committed against them. "B-but it's history!" How so? The confederates lost. General Lee refused to wear his confederate uniform, or be burried in it, or allow anyone at his funeral to wear theirs. They were ashamed that they had tried to cede from the union. If they were alove today they would be calling these memorials treasonous because they stand for things that are divisive of the united states. The civil war was entirely about slave ownership, and you want to remember it like it was some sort of rebels-versus-the-empire scenario.

“What does it matterwhat I think?” Tsuna was raising his voice for once in anger, and the sharpedges cut of his words through the air around him. The room went silent.

“Tsuna-” Rebornstarted. Of course. Because it was always Reborn. The one whoplacated him and reassured him that it was fine, to keep going and just believein what he said without ever even spending a moment to listen to whatTsuna said before he dismissed it out of hand. Well, not this time.

“No. Because no-oneever listens to what I think. Because I’m just an- an idiot, right?”

“Tsunayoshi,” TheNinth cut in, all soft smiles and gentle words. “You must understand-”

“What I understand,”Tsuna cut in again, because he was not letting them get away with this.Not now, not ever. “Is that you don’t respect my autonomy as a boss, hell- youdon’t even respect my autonomy as a person.”

Tsuna looked aroundthe room, and immediately could tell he wasn’t going to get any support inthis. Hibari flat out didn’t care, Gokudera was raised in the Mafia and foundit normal. Yamamoto was frowning a little but didn’t speak up. He was bad withanything he couldn’t relate towards. Ryohei didn’t really understand, Chromewas fretting in the corner, but far too shy to say anything. Lambo was youngstill - hell they all were young, far too young for this shit in thefirst place - and he couldn’t really grasp the issue either. Mukuro wasn’tthere, but then again, Mukuro wasn’t really a guardian, and didn’t have any sayin what went on.

“Enough.” Iemitsuthis time, because of course they’d all gang up on him. They’d all been gangingup on him since the start of the whole mafia thing, and they’d probablycontinue well into their retirement and deaths, just to remain petty, old,controlling men with no ability to see past their own oily noses. “You’re oldenough now, and you know Vongola needs an heir. You will get married, doyou understand?”

Tsuna let the doorslamming on his way out be his answer.

He took refuge in abar downtown, because whenever anything went wrong for a character, they had togo drink solemnly by themselves only to be saved by the advice of a wisestranger. Tsuna was still seventeen and barely past legal drinking age - thoughthe age restriction hadn’t really stopped him or the people around him fromgetting him drunk before - and so if a wise stranger had come to sit next tohim with advice that would fix the entire mess then Tsuna would have missed it.He was far too busy trying to keep his head from swaying.

He woke up in a pileof rubbish. Appropriate.

“Hey,” a voice fromabove came. “Are y’ gonna get up anytime soon?”

God?

“No,” came the voiceagain, dry and a little amused. “Th’ name’s Agatha.”

Agatha, as it turnedout, was a seventy-three year old widower who was granted housing on Vongolaproperty after her husband and livelihood was shot down during a turf war. Sheswept the streets every now and again, and picked up rubbish where she foundit, but mostly lurked around doorways and dragged people in for tea. All this,Tsuna had learned over tea at her place, a cosy little thing with enoughcharacter for them both.

“Well, wha’s theproblem?” Agatha asked, out of the blue.

“What?”

She rolled her eyes,which somehow became a lot more sarcastic on her wizened face. “You obviouslyhave summat botherin’ you. Well, tell us abou’ it?”

So Tsuna told her.And told her. And somehow telling her about the marriage thing became tellingher about the entire mafia thing and his complete and utter lack of desire tobe in it in the first place. Even some of the whole ‘bullied’ thing came upwith a side of ‘my parents are a little useless’ and ‘none of my friendsunderstand me at all’. All in all, it was a very cathartic evening.

“Ah, wha’ you needto do is some healthy ol’ rebellion! Not a kid I knew yer age that hadn’t said,‘well fuck tha’ once in awhile.” She took a long hearty gulp of her third cupof tea in a way that made it appear she was drinking subpar ale in a run-downpub instead. “Live a little, I say! Go away overnight, skip school. Elope withyer lover instead. But ya gotta do summat or yer’ll be stuck as their goody-twoshoes for life ya hear.”

Tsuna thought itover, for once considering going against Reborn’s explicit orders. It wasn’t athought he’d entertained in a while, but…

“Okay,” he said,putting down his tea cup. “Let’s go.”

Agatha almost spatout her drink. “Yer what?”

Two days after Tsunawas, for lack of a better way to put it, lost, the Ninth was reachingthe end of his tether. He couldn’t afford to lose his only heir, not right thenand not ever, and losing him right after an argument was- painful, really. Sohe was doing some work he usually would delegate for lack of anything else toput his mind to. The stress was bad for his heart.

He was shiftingthrough letters before coming to a single, innocuous bit of post that almosthad him dropping the entire pile. It was from Tsuna.

Opening the letterwith familiar writing and noting the blank piece of paper that soon burst intoflame - Tsuna’s flames - the Ninth turned to the only other objectwithin the letter. A small, glossy photograph slipped out, evidently from somesort of disposable camera, depicting Tsuna and some old lady sipping juice outof coconut shells on a tropical beach. The back read:

‘Found myself alovely woman. We’re on our honeymoon, see you in three weeks!’

A face thatseemingly was winking at him had been drawn crudely underneath.

“So,” asked Tsuna,lounging in the sun and thousands of miles away from Vongola territory. “Howwould you like to be one of my advisers?”

Nullarbor Roadhouse

I was going to write this post about mine and Chris's 'date night' in the Nullarbor Roadhouse bar, with the truckies all lot up by strip lighting discussing wombats being decapitated when hit and the response of 'dunno mate, think you need coins' after asking about the pool table. Instead, we are stuck here with a wheel which looks like it has been skinned alove, no rubber left on it and a nasty suspicion that either the suspension or axle is to blame. Luckily we have good roadside assist cover but whilst we are thankful for the 200km tow we are just about to enjoy, it takes us in the wrong direction. At one point we would have been cursing our bad luck but after discussions with the war wounded nomads we realise we aren't the only one's to be failed by our machines. So here's to South Australia and fingers crossed that some day, one day we make it over that bloody border!!

The Mass Effect trilogy remaster everyone wants is already here

“Stand by for clearance Normandy,” bellows Captain David Anderson as the iconic ship approaches Citadel Dock 422. Shortly thereafter the wonder of the galaxy’s epicentre hits you like a sledgehammer, its empyrean skyline a majestic marvel among the cosmos. However, there exists a monumental issue that has plagued this cutscene for over a decade: it has aged like a fine wine, if only said wine had its cork removed long before it was shelved.

Fortunately, there is a fix. After the divisive denouement of Mass Effect 3 ripped a fissure in the community, a group of fans banded together to rewrite the series’ disgruntling culmination. Thus the Mass Effect modding community was born, brewed from a chaotically potent cocktail of discontent and desire for more. “We only have Mass Effect 3 mods because of the terrible endings,” Spectre Expansion Mod author Tydeous tells me in a recent interview. “People hated them with such passion that it spawned an entire community that wanted to fix them.”

Although the ensuing ending mods were relatively renowned within Mass Effect circles, the movement didn’t stop there: accepting the unlikeliness of an official remaster, these dedicated tinkerers decided to work on a complete 4K overhaul of the entire trilogy, as well as orchestrating their own original mods to boot. The aim of this enterprise is to complete Mass Effect Modding Workshop creator Ryan “Audemus” Ainsworth’s own labour of love, ALOV (A Lot Of Videos), which is the result of a community-wide effort to remaster Mass Effect’s inaugural iteration.

“We have 2TB of dedicated Nextcloud storage on a Gigabit connection thanks to our team member bosp,” Ainsworth says. “Another team member designed a script that can automatically check through hundreds of videos in the mod for errors such as missing frames or an incorrect framerate.” Meanwhile, a dozen team members volunteered to upscale frames to 4K using Gigapixel in an ambitious attempt to meet the mod’s scheduled release date last year.

However, modding Mass Effect is no easy endeavour, nor is it a phenomenon BioWare encouraged or even facilitated. “I can’t overstate how difficult it is to mod a PC game that was designed primarily for consoles on an engine that offers no mod support whatsoever,” Ainsworth explains. “Because of this, there are only a handful of people in the community that can use the toolset to its fullest capability.”

A prime example exists in the low-res story sequences in the original Mass Effect. “The pre-rendered cutscenes in Mass Effect are 720p videos that were heavily compressed to allow the game to fit on the disc,” Ainsworth tells me. “When playing the game at 1080p to 4K with texture mods, those cutscenes were the biggest thing holding it back from looking like a true remaster.”

There are other hardships, too. Modding Mass Effect is nothing like creating expansions for games like Skyrim or Fallout, Ainsworth adds. “Their Creation Kit was created and supported by Bethesda, while ME3Explorer had to be created from scratch by talented and dedicated fans.”

Perhaps paradoxically, difficulty is part of what inspires Mass Effect modders to persevere against the odds while maintaining the harmony inherent to Ainsworth’s community. “The [Mass Effect] modding scene is small, but tight-knit,” ALOT (A Lot Of Textures) author CreeperLava tells me. “Any modder who lingers there ends up getting to know every other modder.”

“Perhaps because it is so small, or because the games are so difficult to mod, only die-hard fans end up dedicating time to learning how to mod them,” CreeperLava adds. Regular contributors also ensure each subsequent mod released via Nexus is cross-compatible with every other project in the community’s existing oeuvre. “This is impossible in larger mod bases like Skyrim, where the amount of work involved would be insane.”

CreeperLava also asserts this is likely the reason the Mass Effect modding process is so collaborative within the community. “They seek to make sure their mods work together from the get-go,” they explain. “It’s kind of like having a team with many heads, all trying to get the best out of the games they love.”

Ainsworth says roughly 30 people were involved with the Project Earth Overhaul Mod specifically, marking it as the biggest Mass Effect modding endeavour of all time. To this day, however, the team continues to rework the games they love. “We have over a dozen active modding projects going on, and everyone is encouraged to collaborate,” Ainsworth adds. “I would liken the modding community today to a loose development team, made up of programmers, writers, artists, voice actors and more. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve built together.”

“It’s not even about the game anymore,” CreeperLava adds, ushering the sentiment in a new direction. “The modding I did started as a personal quest for a more beautiful game, but ended up as a coming of age experience for me. Its development mirrors my own – ALOT matured and became much more than just a compilation of textures.”

CreeperLava goes on to explain they were joined by developers who conceived an installer for the mod while they learned how to implement their own textures. “I saw articles being published about my work,” they continue. “What amazes me the most to this day is that beyond just saying thanks, some people stepped forward and offered their help, knowledge, and time to improve the mod.”

CreeperLava also fondly recalls working at a LAN party on one occasion, where a random person came over and asked, “are you that CreeperLava? From Mass Effect?” As it turned out, this was a fan who had played through Mass Effect with ALOT installed. “Really took me by surprise,” CreeperLava adds. “I felt really good for the rest of that day.”

Ainsworth echoes this passion, and proceeds to proclaim Mass Effect as an entity that has had a profound influence on him. “I don’t think many people can say they’ve been a Mass Effect fan for most of their life,” he explains. “But for me, Mass Effect formed the backbone of my love of sci-fi storytelling in the way Star Wars or Star Trek did for older fans.”

Tydeous shares this emotional connection. “I grew up watching shows like Stargate SG-1 and Star Trek: Next Generation, where teams of people work together to explore the galaxy, discovering new worlds, facing dire threats, and meeting alien cultures,” they say. “For me, Mass Effect gives me that chance to explore the unknown in a way I’ll never get in the real world.”

Tydeous explains that although the community almost fizzled out, it has bounced back stronger than ever, and many fans of the mod have voiced their gratitude. “The best compliment I’ve had is when one user said the new emails [added as part of the mod] and my ‘Ghost of Antilin’ storyline were BioWare quality,” they add. “They hadn’t realised those texts were fan-written.”

Alongside the praise, working on something of this caliber comes with a variety of unseen, humorous mishaps. Although Tydeous maintains most of their modding experience has involved bashing their head against the desk in a futile attempt to understand why something isn’t working, one such mistake resulted in a barrel of laughs for them. “During some experimental combat modding, I accidentally changed the number of Banshee spawns from one to eight, as I thought I was changing the amount of Husks that spawn,” Tydeous remembers. Despite their best efforts, they never managed to defeat them.

Meanwhile, a modder who goes by the handle “Mgamerz,” who is also part of the Mass Effect Modding Workshop community and is the founder of ME3Tweaks, managed to unravel an exceptionally well-hidden secret when tinkering with some scenes featuring The Illusive Man. “In my cutscene randomiser, I expanded it to support more branching characters, such as your squadmates,” Mgamerz explains. “I did not realise that in many cutscenes there are extra versions of pawns that are used for different angles, so we have The Illusive Woman.”

The same randomiser yielded other comedy nuggets. “I was trying to randomise cutscenes and the animations a bit – it’s meant to be something you’d play if you were somewhat tipsy,” Mgamerz continues. “I did not realise the data format for these animations was different from other animations and Miranda gained a lot of flexibility.”

Evidently, the Mass Effect modding community has achieved an astronomical amount since the polarising polemic that emerged in the wake of Mass Effect 3, especially considering the obstacles blocking their path. From a full-fledged PC remaster to some original voice acting sent to Eurogamer, this is the work of a group of people who have persevered without ever having access to modding toolsets or developer-established communities. Heartwarmingly, newcomers are welcomed with open arms to this day: “Seeing the 2019 N7 Day Modding trailer we put out last year, that was especially cool,” Tydeous explains. “Seeing the live stream comments about each mod was great – especially for newer modders showing off their work for the first time.”

However, despite the community’s investment in the original trilogy, modding Andromeda, BioWare’s ill-fated 2017 Mass Effect game, remains a complex affair. Because it runs on the Frostbite engine, none of the modding tools the community have used for the first three games are compatible with Andromeda. “As of now, it’s not possible to import new content into the game,” Ainsworth explains. “That means no new items, quests, weapons, [or] abilities. Because of this, there’s never been a community that’s formed around modding Andromeda like it did for the trilogy.”

Ainsworth adds there are people in his community who are already interested in modding Andromeda, but after enduring three long years without updates to compatibility, and after the departure of a key Frostbite modder named GalaxyMan – who, Ainsworth explains, works with EA/DICE on Frostbite proper now – “it’s looking more likely those features might never happen”.

It’s not all bad though. Recently, and for years past to boot, rumours have circulated about whether or not an official remaster for the Mass Effect trilogy will ever be released. However, according to Ainsworth, “the remaster everyone has been clamouring for is effectively already here.” Give a community this dedicated long enough and they’ll do it themselves.

“Had to be me,” I imagine the Mass Effect modding community saying. “Someone else might have gotten it wrong.”
