Ouzziy fic recs OFMD
Yesterday was share your fav fics day over at adopt our flag. So here are my favorite ouizzy fics (most are slow burns) in two main categories:
1. A harmless and fun time; All of these are comedies or just cute. Full of pranks and entertaining silly plots.
Two Truths And...-M After Izzy and Frenchie both start messing with the captain the whole crew competes in making Stede believe the most absurd mythical sea creatures and myths they can.
Laughed my ass off with this one and the slow burn is just right.
A Man After Midnight-M Izzy is a hitman getting tired of his job after his partner's mysterious disappearance. Frenchie is a thief that won't leave him alone.
Lots of fun crime cliches and flirting in this one. They got Izzy's grumpy energy and Frenchie's silliness perfectly. There is a bit of angst and it ends on a cliff hanger but still a fun ride.
Warnings from the Bottom of My Heart- M Izzy and Frenchie a newly formed loving relationship. But as the rest of the crew find out Izzy quickly realizes he'll have to have a 'talk' with Frenchie's friends.
This one is not a slow burn both Izzy and Frenchie are in a relationship, the absurdity comes from the various 'talks' Izzy has with the crew about Frenchie. I found myself getting excited to read who Iz would be threatened by chapter after chapter. A fun take on a lot of the crew.
A Date To The Future-T Frenchie and Izzy are dating Iz just hasn't realized it yet.
This one is adorable, with plenty of cute moments and flustered Izzy. And there is also a fun take on what Izzy would be like as a captain after the crew splits. (No kraken era but still a bit of angst)
2. Fics that changed my life; finally we have the fics that release dates became my new favorite days of the week and started up past 1 am reading
In the myre of who we were- M Frenchie doesn't know how long this can last. Sooner or later Blackbread is going to get them all killed. He'll need to figure out a way out with Jim and who else he can.
Before season 2 take, beautifully done. Still haven't been able to find another fic that shows Ed's kraken era mood swings so accurately. Frenchie and Izzy's relationship is complex. Frenchie believes all the crew of the revenge are dead so he hates Izzy. Yet they still become close in a lovely slow burn. Not to mention a wonderfully silly yet possible take on captain Stede.
Open Water-M "Frenchie has been having dreams his whole life. They're hazy and indistinct, but the clearest ones are of death. He takes comfort in them, in knowing pieces of what's to come, and having forewarning to try and stop the worst of it.
But then, in the midst of his life becoming a nightmare, he starts dreaming the death of the person he blames for it all. But he's given a glimpse of that man's humanity, and faces a problem. Every time he stops the death he dreams, it's followed by a new version.
Why can't he stop Izzy Hands from dying?"
Yep Frenchie can see the future in this one. This fic blew my mind. With its unique premise creating so many interesting interactions not to mention a whole other level of tension. My favorite part of this fic is its world building and background for Frenchie. With every chapter starting with a moment from the past before the Revenge.
Lycidas-E If you haven't read this yet DO. Izzy is embraced by the whole crew during this fics kraken era. They all bond in a unique and interesting way. Their take on Frenchie is still one of my favs. The happy ending tag isn't a lie it's beautiful but my god do they make you sweat. The tension is so thick in this fic Roach could carve it out of the air and make a three layer wedding cake out of it!
Trigger warning: toxic Edizzy and the bloody life of a pirate (the explicit scene is in one of the final chapters and is easy to skip if that's not your thing)
#i have so many more #if people like this post I'll add my fav modern UA takes on ouizzy #the brain rot is real #ouizzy brain rot

I have an idea for Indiana Jones x female reader; Taking place in Temple of Doom, when the sacrifice is about to happen, the reader has an asthmatic attack and Indiana Jones sees that she can't breathe, grabbing her inhaler from her pocket and letting her breathe in and out. Then when Mola Ram captures them, Indiana gets pissed at how Mola Ram wants her to be his bride. I am leaving the rest to you, and I would like to have Willie in this one.
breathe
indiana jones x reader
note: left this one on a cliff hanger 🤭 also includes quite a bit of star wars references
Tumblr media
“i think there’s still bugs in my hair!” willie squealed, running a hand through her blonde curls. you stopped, turning to face her, “turn around.” you said. the woman did so, you took a moment to examine willie’s hair before shaking your head, “nope. you’re good.”
“come on ladies,” indiana called from the front of the group, short round by his side. “hurry up lady! and miss!” shorty exclaimed. you bit back a laugh. due to your very new relationship with indiana jones, shorty has resorted to constantly calling you miss, although you’d told him time and time again to call you by your first name.
you quickly picked up the pace, so you now walked alongside indiana. “so.. any idea with what we’re dealing with?” you asked softly. indiana pursed his lips, “i suppose we’ll just have to find out, won’t we, doll?” slowly you nodded. indiana then reached for you hand, “how are you doing?” he asked, intertwining his fingers with yours. you yanked your hand away, “stop that.”
the man furrowed his brows, “stop what?” he said, reaching for your hand again. “my hands are dirty.” you stated. after all, you’d had to stick your hand into some black goo to help willie release the trap door to save indiana and shorty. “my hands are dirty too, what are you afraid of?” he then took your hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. you couldn’t help but smile.  just as you were about to speak again, the sound of loud chanting reached your ears. you glanced at indiana, a look of concern written on his face. he pressed a finger to his lips, telling everyone to remain quiet as they rounded a corner.
the trail ended there, and they came up upon the edge, your eyes widened at the sight below. thousands of people sat on their knees, gazing up at the large skeletal statue before them. “what is it?” willie asked fearfully, cowering behind you. “it’s a thugee ceremony… they’re worshipping their god, kali.” you suddenly began to feel
nervous at the sight of it. these rituals were known to be gory. only God knows what you might see. you frowned, swallowing harshly, feeling nervous.
a man, wearing an elaborate headdress walked onto a platform, a sort of twisted smile upon his face. your nerves increased. something about him made you very uneasy.
he began speaking in what you believed to be was hindu, you didn’t understand what he was saying.
suddenly, a man was brought out, he was screaming, as though protesting. this worried you, but you remained silent. you scooted closer to him, watching as a large cage was brought down. the protesting man was chained in it, and suddenly you hit with a sense of impending doom.
a scream ripped through your throat as the scary man stuck his hand into the protesting man’s chest, ripping out his heart. willie screamed loudly, ducking away.
but your reaction had to be far worse. your chest felt tight, your breathing becoming labored. you were having an asthma attack. short round was the first to notice as you clutched your chest, “miss? miss? what’s wrong?”
indiana whipped around, catching sight of you. his eyes widened, “goddammit.” he mumbled, worry evident in his voice.
“what’s wrong, indy?”
“she’s having an asthma attack.” he told the boy before his hazel eyes glanced at you, “inhaler?”
“left-pocket.” you wheezed. indiana nodded, reaching to her jacket pocket, retrieving the small inhaler. he handed it to you, which you took gratefully. you took a puff, feeling a wave of relief was over you. your airways were opening up, and you began to be able to breath a bit better. indiana placed a hand on your back, “hey, you okay?” he whispered. you slowly nodded. indiana then gently placed his hands upon your shoulders, pushing you back slightly, “stay back there.” he said, not wanting you to see anything else that had to happen.
you nodded, your breathing becoming normal as you remained behind him, listening to the shrill screams of the man about to be sacrificed.
the man’s screams were cut off, and suddenly you heard an evil sort of cackle. you could only imagine what was happening now.
time passed quickly, and soon the ceremony was over. only when willie returned to indiana’s side did you dare do the same. indiana glanced over at you, sending you a nod.
‘you alright?’
you nodded in response.
you then glanced over at where the ceremony had just taken place, taking note of the glowing stones.
sankara stones.
indiana stood from his spot, moving towards the edge. “i’m getting those stones.” you furrowed your brows, “the hell you are, i’m comin’ with.”
“the hell you’re not.”
“says who?”
“says me.” before you could protest, indiana pressed his lips to yours, kissing you deeply. he pulled away after a moment, “i’ll be fine. trust me.”
he was not fine.
— — —
“this is a very beautiful woman you have here, doctor jones.” mola ram cooed, his finger trailing down your collarbone.
“she is beautiful, but she’s mine.” indiana snapped, thrashing against the binds keeping him tied to the statue behind him. you sent the man a stern look, one that said ‘go along with it’.
“not for long, doctor jones. you know, i’ve been in need of a bride for some time…” you tried your best to remain calm. “she is gorgeous, authoritative… she would make a beautiful bride, and a wonderful mother to my children.”
“back off you son of a bitch!” indiana exclaimed, pulling forward but still going nowhere. one of the large guards moved towards him, turning him around so his back now faced you.
your eyes widened in terror as you watched the guard pick up indiana’s whip. you glanced at mola ram, “please. don’t do this,” you begged. the man only let out a cackle, “marry me, and i’ll stop.”
before you utter a word, the whip made contact with indiana’s back, eliciting a pained groan. you gasped, turning to mola ram, “i’ll do it,” you whispered.
“i can’t hear you~”
“don’t do it! whatever you do! don’t say yes!” this outburst got him another lashing. and you couldn’t watch any longer, “i’ll marry you!” you exclaimed, “just let him go!”
the guard dropped the whip. indiana groaned, “no, no don’t do this-“
“i will marry you on one condition.” you told mola ram. “and what is that?”
“you let him, short round and willie go. they all walk free.”
“no!”
“yes.” mola ram agreed with a evil grin, “i agree to your terms.”
you glanced over at indiana, noticing the look upon his face. he was heartbroken. “why?” he mouthed.
you blinked back tears, mouthing back, “i love you.”
— — —
the white dress was itchy, you wanted nothing more then to get rid of it. but you’d been all dolled up. for your wedding.
but you would not become mrs. jones. but instead the bride of mola ram.
you had been assured that indiana and your friends were allowed to leave… so now it was your time to escape. you’d ripped off all the curtains, tying them together to make a rope to drop out the window. it was the only plan you had.
just as you were lugging the makeshift rope towards the window, the door was pushed open to reveal-
“indiana?”
a wave of relief washed over you at the sight. “oh my god-“ you rushed forward, throwing yourself against him, embracing him tightly, careful not to touch the wounds on his back.
“i’m so damn happy to see you-“ you pulled away, gesturing over to the window, “i was gonna escape but, now you’re here and i’m sure you have a better plan.”
you leaned into him again, feeling content as he wrapped his arms around you, resting his head atop yours. things felt normal.
but then, things shifted. his grip on you tightened, “indiana? you’re-you’re hurting me.”
he then leaned in slightly, his lips against your earlobe, “kali ma protects us. and we are her children.”
and that is when you knew that you lost him.

My surprise at the I love you speech was mostly sourced at my first watch casual interpretation of Byler.
Why is Mike behaving this way towards Will? Oh, he reciprocates and is being defensive about it. That would make since. The one thing is how are they gonna break down is relationship with El?...................
oh. like that.
So I really thought it was a done deal I was like "I can't see where this is going but of the two, who has a shittier arc if Mike doesn't have feelings for them. That's who he ends up with" and then was like ok that's the what I just don't know the "how" and then the next episode they GAVE ME THE HOW. So my huge confusion was that the ily speech essentially TOOK AWAY THE HOW???
The thing about that is taking away the "how" doesn't contradict the "what". I knew Byler was endgame when I believed Mike could tell El he loved her in 4x02 just as much as I did at the end of 4x09.
But it's funny because since 4x02, my thought has never been "wow, guess they aren't doing Byler!" It was "wow, guess they're taking a different route to Byler than I expected!"
It makes sense though in retrospect. In simple terms, the pieces were falling into place too early and they need to get together in season 5. (I also didn't know there was a season 5 + past seasons have never had cliff hangers so that adds to it I guess lol). I was taken aback because I understood the destination with my only apprehension being - honestly just curiosity about the path. Then they laid down a path. Then they were like "haha lol that path was unrelated! Psych!" and I was left curious "what's the path then?" with the additional question "what was that for?"
And then I remembered Cyrano and the rest is history but the POINT IS. Since believing in it, aside from occasional queerbait fear, I have never had Byler doubt based on ANYTHING in the story. Nothing in Netflix's "Stranger Things" has given me Byler doubt. I was only surprised to be wrong at how they were getting together.
I thought they were doing the "Mike notices Will overenthusiastically correcting his self-deprecation" romance trope when they were doing Cyrano so I was confused. But as I always say, they were only failing at a goal they didn't have. Was that a failure to execute that romance trope? Yes! Because they were never trying to! I may consider it doubt, actually, during the confession, but then because nothing else resolved in the season either I was like "Oh...that wasn't supposed to be it oh ok that makes more sense"
Anyway, now I know that and this is a long winded way of saying the only incorrect predictions I ever had in regards to Byler were how they would get together. From the second Byler was introduced to me as a viable option of an ending, Milkvan felt entirely illogical as an option and only proved to be moreso as the season progressed. Byler is endgame. Sometimes I'm wrong about how, but that isn't Byler doubt. It's an adjustment and then we are back, baby. The biggest proof against Byler is what I interpreted on my watch (once I realized there would be a season 5) as "a different direction to Byler than I originally thought".

I'm Gonna be a Hero ❤️‍🩹💜
Tumblr media
Words: 2350
Fandom: MHA
Characters: Lee!Shinsou Ler!Aizawa
Summary: Shinsou is trying to learn a new trick but can't seen to perfect it, and needs some motivation from his sensi.
---------------------------------------------------
"ARgH sHIT!"
Shinsou fell down yet again and landed in a huff on the grass below. Aizawa stood to the side, hair up as he leaned against a tree, fiddling with his own scarf in his fingers.
He had been training the younger to use a scarf, much like his own. Hoping it would help him get better and become a hero, much like Aizawa had hoped for as a kid his own age.
Shinsou had improved a lot since they'd started, and there were plans to move him to the hero course, though this didn't mean he would get a break from his training, having to practice daily.
For the past few days he'd been trying to perfect this one trick where he could swing through the trees, though he kept failing and would eventually plumt to the ground again after the first few swings.
He was better than he first started, sure, but he was just getting frustrated at this point. Laying on the grass from his most recent failure and looking up to see the scarf dangling a few inches from his face, attached to the tree still.
He grunted as he put a hand up, gripping it and pulling himself up- only for the scarf to be attached to a thin branch and snap, sending him back to the floor and his scarf falling over his face.
Aizawa looked over, seeing the events of what was happening. Watching as the student fell again and the scarf piling up over his face.
The boy decided them and there to just give up and decided he'd lay on the floor for eternity, in the blindness of his scarf.
"You need to keep trying, otherwise you'll keep falling" Aizawa mentioned from the sidelines. Shinsou didn't move, just put a thumbs up over to his mentor.
"Yep, that's the idea." He grunted, laying there for another few minutes before Aizawa realised he wouldn't be getting back up.
In all honestly, the kid had been training almost non stop throughout the weekend and before and after school through out the week trying to perfect this single move. So Aizawa believed he needed a well deserved break.
But he also knew that Shinsou was so close to perfecting the move, and needed the last bit of motivation to do so. So Aizawa decided, since nobody was around, he would try a little game with the purple mind controlling kid.
"Alright" Aizawa pushed himself off the tree and stood up properly, tying his scarf around his neck as he usually would the weapon against villians.
Shinsou still laid there in defeat, but moved the scarf slightly, lifing a little bit up so he could peak through and see the eraser hero.
"You're almost there. You just need a little bit of motivation. So we're going to play a game" his explained, walking over a little, and his voice as monotone as ever.
Shinsou gave a look of confusion and agreement to play.
"You have 10 seconds to escape. I will be a villian. If you make it to the school gates before I catch you, you win. If I catch you-" he grinned a little, ending his sentence of a cliff hanger.
Shinsou sat up, the scarf falling down off his face and into his lap, he looked down to where the school gates were, a good distance away to practice swinging. And he wasn't sure what would happen if he was caught.
He looked back to his teacher who was stood up straight, looking down at the child from a couple meters away.
"What happens if I'm caught?" He asked, curious with still a monotone voice, much like his mentor.
Eraserhead smirked a little, making the kid uneasy as the teacher never smiled.
"Alright, sure" he said, standing up and smiling a little at the motivation. He wrapped his scarf around his neck and stood tall, ready to play.
The two looked at one another, "ten."
Shinsou span around and was off. He latched onto one of the trees and began to swing beneath them at a steady speed yet as fast as he could.
For his trick to work he needed to go over the threes and launch himself across at least five and stick the landing if he wanted it to succeed. He'd done it a couple times, but could never stick the landing or go across more than 3- ending up halfway through the third.
He kept his vision on his target, the entrance. They were perhaps a mile or so away so he should be able to make it, along with a couple of his tricks along the way. Though he had to land them or it counted for nothing. Aizawa was kind enough to do this for him, help him train and motivate him even when he has his own things to do.
Shinsou saw a thick enough three and quickly dripped himself from his shining, running and latching onto a branch before launching himself upwards above the trees and throwing himself across 3-4 of them before landing in the tree, his scarf latched onto a branch but not having a safe enough landing where he could perpell himself back upwards.. instead falling through the three and dropping himself to the floor.
He swore under his breath as he looked back, Aizawa was no where in sight and could be in any direction coming at him from anywhere. He jumped up and tried to grab the scarf, but it was stuck around one of the branches.
"Shit." Shinsou quickly looked arohnd to see if he could spot his mentor and the villian chasing him but couldn't. So he grabbed onto a branch and tried crawling up the three to his scarf. He balanced himself on the branch it was connected too, luckily strong enough to hold his body weight.
Shinsou tried to untangle it and had realised he'd knotted it in a way he hadn't realised he'd been doing this whole time, quickly fixing his mistake before bring tackled to the ground rather quickly as the scarf fell to the floor.
The boy grunted as he hit the floor, though of course his mentor had tried to keep it both safe and realistic.
The eraser hero had wrapped his own scarf around the training hero's shoulders and arms, latching them together while pinning his knees under his own. Pinned to the ground with dirt in his hair, Shinsou grunted in defeat. Though it wasn't over yet.
"You did well, you travelled over 4 trees that time, but you need to stick your landing better so you can continue moving without hassle." Aizawa commented, giving constructive criticism while pinning the kid down.
"Yeah..." The kid sounded rather disappointed in himself while trying to sound monotone, though his emotions slipping through slightly. Though Aizawa had already planned out how the game would work, and his frown would soon be turned upside down.
"Now you've been captured due to your mistakes, and Villians won't be kind to you" Aizawa mentioned, signalling to Shinsou that the game wasn't over yet.
"This game doesn't end until you make it to the gate or I've had enough, Villians won't give you a break, and neither will I"
"Huh- whahat-" Shinsou began chuckling while Aizawa began to dribbling his fingers along the boys sides between them and his arms. He began to wriggle a little and tilt his head up as he laughed beneath him.
"You're ticklish, hopefully thus will motivate you to escape"
"Whahait- Aiz-hahawa Sensi- heEy!" Aizawa then drilled into the boys stummocj, squeezing it rapidly making him jump while he was trapped. If Aizawa hadn't been sat up straight, the two would have head bumped due to the suddent jolts from the purple hair boy.
"Hehehey! WhAhaiT a mihi- aha- stOhOp!" Shinsou couldn't hold back his laughter as he shook his head and struggled beneath the villians hold.
"Not until you escape or I'm bored, and I'm far from bored Shinsou" Aizawa teased, his voice still very monotone while a grin appeared on his face, followed by a yawn showing he could do this all day if he wanted.
"IhiHi cAhaAnt tAhaAke thHaAt!- AH-" Shinsou looked terrified though had a wide grin on his face, trying to bite back the laughter but bursting out louder when a new spot was targeted around his neck which made him burst out into giggles.
"A hero doesn't take it, they fight back and do what they can. That's what makes a hero a hero, and not a ticklish little boy" Aizawa teased whilst lecturing. Knowing that the boy couldn't stand the tiny tickles on his neck as they sent him into fit's of giggles. He'd seen a class mate do it to him before and had tried it out one time, only to be swatted away followed by many apologies.
"So, will you just take this? Or will you escape?" Aizawa them gripped the boys hips and began squeezing them rapidly, sending the mind hero into hysterical as he jumped around beneath him, laughing loud enough from birds to fly away.
He didn't know what to say and could barely think, just laughing hysterically and knowing he had to get out of this situation because he already knew how evil Aizawa could be when he wanted. He'd once walked in on Aizawa and Mic, and the poor blonde was red in the face and practically a ghost with a smile on his face, forced to stand up wish Aizawa's fingers at his side.
He threw his head around as his hips were attacked. Though something caught his eye. His scarf. It was below the tree only a couple meters away. If he could escape, he could perpel himself further than he had before and hopefully stick the landing this time, having finally realised that he'd been doing his landing clutch wrong this whole time.
His brain was slowly surcoming to mush as he wriggled around, he had to do something quickly or he wouldn't be able to talk to have enough strength to escape at all. Then who knows what could happen. Aizawa wasn't known for having any kinds of soft spots. He would do to him just as he did to Mic if he really wanted.
Shinsou tried to focus, though Aizawa was fixated on the boys hips, knowing exactly how to break him while one hand went to his neck, making him scrunch down.
Shinsou got a quick look at Aizawa, his hair down signalling he wasn't using his quirk. Hopefully this meant he wouldn't realise Shinsou could still try to use his quirk if he wanted. His arms were still wrapped with the cloth but it had now loosened ever so slightly due to the struggling at the hips.
"IhiHi cAnhaAnT! SeheEnsI!" He begged, wrigging and going from hysterical to giggly in a matter of moments.
"You're mine then, tickle tickle" he  teased with a straight face, enjoying the bonding and training.
"YohoU haHaVe a mEHeEtiNg tHouUgh rIGHHHTTT?-" Aizawa leant down and blew a raspberry on the kids open neck and gripped his hips with his hands, squeezing rapidly. This would have broken his attempt at using his quirk and all hope for escape.
"Yeah, but that can wait-" Suddenly Aizawa stopped moving entirely. Frozen still with his fingers now at the boys side, barely touching him. His eyes had gone white and he'd stopped everything he was doing. His scarf loosened around Shinsou but he made sure to stay very still. However even in his success he was still giggling and laughing as the fingers barely touching him stoll felt as if they were tickling him slightly, trickling his mind.
'Wait... he still got me?'
Shinsou tried to hold his breath and calm himself down, tears were almost formed in his eyes and he had lightly pink cheeks.
He laughed a little but then looked up at Aizawa, knowing he wouldn't be able to leave the position without the trance breaking and Aizawa trapping him all over again. He needed to breathe, but get revenge and escape.
In a matter of seconds he was out of the scarf and quickly swapped the positions, breaking the transition as he pushed aizawa into the same position he once was, wrapping the hero's own scarf around him before digging into his sides.
He'd never heard his teacher laugh before. But as he dug into his sides he suddenly burst out into a laugh, surprised by the sudden actions of the student. He tried to fight back and realised he was trapped in his own scarf. Shinsou got a little revenge before darting off and grabbing his scarf off the ground.
Now the chase was really on, having knowing what the circumstances were. Aizawa was quick to get out of his reins but even so, Shinsou had wrapped his scarf around the branch and launched himself through the air.
Aizawa looked at him for a minute, Shinsou had gone hight then he ever had before. Letting the scarf connect off the tree and fly around him. It was like he was in slow motion through the air, flying across at least 8 trees before latching onto another one and falling back down. Though this time there was no crash, a couple of leaves in the distance waving together as birds flew away but Aizawa watched from the ground as the kid continued running, perfecting the landing and going straight into running to swinging to flying across the tree tips once again.
He couldn't help but smile at the progress the boy had made. Watching as Shinsou turned around, a grin on his face and red cheeks, looking happier then ever.
"You coming or what, Villain?!" He yelled, rather excited and taunting his mentor before running back off when seeing Aizawa's smirk.
The hero quickly chased after him, taking the invitation from the taunting.
Shinsou kept running, but the only thing that played in his head was one phrase.
"Im gonna be a hero"

HEYYY, crazy what royal pain (in the ass) does right? wanna share some insight? the shit he does and all? maybe stuff he is involved in with the po peeps? >:3
Oh boy, I got a lot to say about that man and his constantly screwing up stuff. JNSAKASKASJK
First off, he ruined Nadine's singing career and she never forgave him for it. Yes, the poor girl can't sing but she thought this guy would help her get out there. He didn't. He was all about money and his songwriting was crap. Yes, he rewrote some lyrics for her and even added unnecessary sounds to her songs. She also had to take him to court to make sure she has ownership of her songs, her original songs. The last thing she wants is this British Wario getting money from her own music.
He was also involved in the production of El Luchador's movie El Luchador's Great Adventures. To Royal, it was a masterpiece. To Luchy, it's his old shame. Any mention of this movie makes him squirm and he tried to pass it off as lost media but unfortunately it's available to view online (in 480p or someone upscaled it). And if it got an official release, he wants no involvement in interviews or any of that. He is known to block people when they mention the film to him. Yes, he hates it that much.
Originally, the film was going to have a great script, bigger budget, and Luchy's favorite director was going to direct and produce it. Unfortunately, said director fell ill with food poisoning and in came Royal Pain who took over immediately and is believed to have something to do with the director dropping out. This lead to him changing the script and plot, making casting changes, crappy budget because Royal is a cheap bitch, and despite this, Luchy and his co stars gave it their all. The film flopped hard but later on became a cult classic. Despite that it has garnered fans, Luchy still hates the movie, mostly due to it being a reminder of the production hell he went through and also being a reminder of how much he hates Royal.
He also has a dating show which received mixed reviews but has led to many memes made about it. It was after that he was hired to be executive producer and writer for Joe's own short-lived show, Le Glass Show (a pun on Le Glass Joe). Like Nadine's singing career and Luchy's movie, he managed to turn this show into a flop. The show underwent so many rewrites, reshoots, and only six episodes were filmed. And yes, he was still a cheap bastard with budget. it was cancelled after three episodes with only the last three not airing and at the moment is lost media. Rumor has it that the last three episodes were deleted with the show ending on a cliff hanger with Joe and Kaiser (who was cast as Joe's neighbor/bestie and eventual love interest) who are about to kiss and before they can do so or say anything, it turns to black and credits roll. Gabby Jay was cast as Joe's father. The show was known for it's low budget, bad acting and writing, and overuse of the laugh track. It was said the show was actually going to be good with a better producer, director and writers but the changes happened and unfortunately with Royal's involvement, it turned into a flop.
If there's a lesson to be learned, never EVER work with Royal Pain. Anything he touches, flops. There's a reason why the boxers even Aran and Narcis enjoy bullying him.

Dani Rambles about COPII.... chapter 9
Okay, firstly I know I am literally behind on everything!!! I'm sorry, the past few days have been crazy so I'm trying to get caught up today but needed to read chapter 9 so that I could make prompts for the book club so here we are.
I actually found this to be one of the most interesting chapters in a while. I feel like we got some information and it felt like we could have a moment with Trystan that wasn't physical and we could see their relationship growing, as well as actually focus on the case!
I'm very disappointed the twins didn't have any actual information, that's just such a tease on PB's part, but revealing that information now would be too easy, so I get it. Well played on their cliff hanger.
I loved seeing Trystan bond with Juli's moms. Seeing that relationship mended has meant more than anything else. Seeing Eliose forgive Trystan and literally cheer on Lilah was such a heartfelt and beautiful moment. I loved it! (and also when Trystan said he wasn't good enough for Juli and the moms said he was 🥹😭❤️
(also the more we learn about Juli, the more wonderful I think she was and I kinda love her)
But the scene in Juli's room!!!
Okay so, I have lots of thoughts, they're not really coherent so I apologize.
The letter's were interesting, I really don't think it's Bas, they've literally been pointing fingers at Bas since we got to Drakovia. If it were him that'd be a huge let down. I chose the option that MC says she thought his letter sounded like a friends vacation trip. I thought it was funny to see that Astrid wrote complaining about her siblings, it could just be a quick funny Astrid moment, of course she would be complaining, but Astrid doesn't seem the type to send letters complaining to just anyone... we've never seen her and Juli mentioned as friends (or am I blanking?) so could there be more to them than that? No letters from Vasili though 🤔 (I still think Vasili is Juli's lover and Eveline knew about it)
The nightingale whistle!!!
ugh, so I've been a bit emotion about Nightingales for a couple weeks now, thanks Neil Gaiman and Good Omens. If you don't know, you're better off, the angst is real and my heart can't take waiting 4+ years for season 3.... 💔😭
But I digress,
So Nightingales are interesting birds especially with the symbolism they carry. And even in the chapter they mention star crossed lovers as part of that symbolism which is totally on point so It could just end there, but then I thought of Romeo and Juliet and their conversation about the bird and whether it's a nightingale or a lark.
In the play Juliet (whose name begins with Juli (like Juliana)), she believes the bird is a lark and represents light/morning (and their time together must end), where Romeo says it's a nightingale so it's still night and they have more time together.
Perhaps in COP, Juli is the lark and her mystery lover is the nightingale (who thought wanted more time with her even after night had past)
What that means, I really don't know, but here we are.
Then the shocking(?) twist that there might be another heir... i mean I think a lot of us probably thought that. I mean you have 9 heirs already, what's one more. But the missing heir might be the queen's?
I don't know if we've met them already, of the background characters we met so far, the only 2 I could think of would be Bird (only because his nickname is bird and he was randomly mentioned in this book, when the crime really didn't fit his mo) and the royal assistant (who just seems awkward around the family. I thought she might be Eveline's secret daughter, but maybe the queens?
Or maybe it's someone we haven't met yet.. or maybe one of the Thornes we know isn't really the King's. 🤷‍♀️
Maybe if the Queen has a child older than Trystan, maybe it's why she is so hard on him. She knows he is destined for the crown but not deserving? But also, why wouldn't she have been more supportive of the bill?
Lots of thoughts, I'm sure I'll be back with more. If you made it this far, you totally deserve a gold star!
Tumblr media
Oh, and one more thought... if the Queen does have a lover, that would finally explain Patryk lol that boy does not fit in.
Wouldn't it be fun if Trystan weren't the King's how easily that would tie things off! But I don't get why the queen or anyone would want to stop the act then, if passed it would make any of her children (by the king or anyone else) legitimate so she could get Trystan in without worry if the act went through. So many questions. So little information

have a few questions for u! i loved your latest chapter, i believe it’s my favourite one to date together with the yule ball special :)
01. since u’re writing a (very intense) re-write of book 1 to 7 canon, how happy/sad were you about draco’s arc in the books and films? it always bugged me that him and the slytherins didn’t get to shine that much in both aspects, and that’s why we never really got to appreciate them a lot when the books and films came out. would love to hear your take on this!
02. not sure if this has been asked before, but what thing/s inspired you to write lionheart? i recall reading it was because of your love for to all the young dudes, but i’d love to hear you talk about this more
03. if j* r****** weren’t as awful a person as she was (and so terribly closed minded too) do you think there would have been a way for draco and hermione to be together in canon, or at least be some level of friends, if not together romantically?
04. i’m a narcissa black-malfoy apologist and stan, and can i just say, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for writing her in such a beautiful and heartbreaking way. i cannot wait to see how you write her arc in books 5-7.
05. an absolute, absolute shot in the dark - but since friday’s last update was sort of a cliff hanger - would you be open to a double update or an earlier than usual update this week? we aren’t entitled to anything but i swear to you, i was biting my nails and at the edge of my seat fr the minute i ran to the friday update. draco and sirius’s conversation was too real and too beautiful i sobbed so much.
i love you!!! may the universe bless you with all the good karma (is my boyfriend, is a god, is the breeze in my hair on the weekend)!!!
hello! thank you for all the questions, wow!! will probably answer some in separate posts because tumblr usually censors my craft glitches out when i write long asks BUT
how happy/sad were you about draco’s arc in the books and films?
[looks at 400,000 words of AU fic about draco's arc] oh yeah i feel normal and care a regular amount about it
Man, it makes me sad. It makes me sad that almost all the Death Eaters are also children of Death Eaters, establishing this as a familial cycle of violence and hatred, and that's just... left to sit there in the narrative, implicating.
Draco’s arc in particular is a flat downward descent from schoolyard bully into a fascist death cult, and it’s bleak as fuck. like, if these books are written from Draco’s POV, it is some gruesome and deeply cynical stuff, guaranteed. which is a shame, because I think “reluctant and begrudging reformed villain” is an amazing character type that he could have fulfilled perfectly. doesn’t even have to go on tour with the Golden Trio, either; because I lost hope for Redemption Arc after the end of book 6, my ideal world going into book 7 was just having Draco stuck in Grimmauld Place, being bitchy and ill-tempered about the Order’s witness-protection equivalent, while the others treat him like a house-elf. “oh, yeah, that’s Draco, he used to bully us but now he has to ask us to buy the tea he likes at the grocer’s,” etc. I mean, full redemption would have been great, and by far the most rewarding for him/me personally as a reader, but I kind of figured by the end of HBP that it wasn’t in the cards. JKR writes characters in a particular way when she’s interested in them as people, and Draco was just never written with that level of attention or care.
he’s not even given a particularly rewarding antagonist arc. he doesn’t follow through and kill Dumbledore, thus giving him something irrevocable and life-scarring to repent for; but neither does he join the Order (e.g., Disappearance), meaning his ultimate contribution to the war effort is just this listless, choiceless trend of enabling. he’s forced into the plot with the Vanishing Cabinet, but can't kill Dumbledore; he tries to hide Harry’s identity from Bellatrix in Book 7, but it doesn’t work; he tries to catch Harry in the Room of Requirement and fails, then has to be saved by Harry from fiendfyre his own incompetent sidekick conjured. cringe failson. it’s also hilarious put in contrast with this fanon we have of hypercompetent draco — it’s like we all saw him and were like god bless can we please get this man a skillset. jesus christ he is getting killed out here.
but anyway tbh I think the most character development we see from him in all 7 novels is when Hermione slaps the shit out of him in POA (call that spell of Shutting the Fuck Up the way he doesn't even try to retaliate). The bathroom scene in book 6 is huge, because it’s the first time we get a modicum of sympathy for him, but that’s not followed up on — we just sort of leave him with “yeah, that’s tough.” we don’t even know why the Malfoys go back to Voldemort, because by all accounts, they seem miserable. Lucius seems miserable even before he hits his Flop Era in book 6-7, but he’s also broadly miserable all the time when we see him (likely bc we only see him when he’s plotting/scheming/exploding in rage when Harry manages to yet again Scooby Doo one of his plots, but who knows). I think the seventh book subtly implies the Malfoys are so close with Voldemort because of Bellatrix, and [spoilers incoming] I myself lean heavily on that thread in later sequences in Lionheart, but in the books it’s up to the reader as to how much the Malfoys really believe in the Dark Lord versus just comply with his orders from fear.

My thoughts on Stranger Things S4
I'm going to break down my thoughts in categories because that's easier for me
Plotlines
The plot line with Murray, Joyce, and Hopper was great! I loved Murray and Joyce's dynamic and Yuri was frustratingly hilarious. I also love Hopper's strength and self-reflection when he was in the camps. And when he reunited with Joyce 🥰
The plot line in California with Jonathan, Mike, Argyle, and Will bored me for the most part. It is also so frustrating that Will is clearly internally dealing with something (I've seen fans guessing he's gay and has a crush on Mike) and Mike can't recognize it. Mike really annoyed me this season between that and how he was angry that "El didn't need him anymore".
The main plot line with Vecna and the Upside Down was amazing. I loved it. I laughed and cried a lot this season.
Characters and Ships
Max's grief and fear of being killed by Vecna brought me to tears multiple times this season. That scene when she read her letter to Billy at his grave broke me.
I love that Robin and Nancy got to know each other better too. I really enjoyed their visit to the asylum with Victor and getting to see Vecna's backstory. The girls' personalities contrast with each other so much and that dynamic was great to watch.
Steve's annoyance at being the babysitter was really funny. I also enjoyed his dynamic with Eddie, they are hilarious together.
Eddie was a character that I did not like when he was first introduced but he definitely grew on me as the season went on. His banter with the characters was great and his relationship with Dustin was so wholesome. And I can't believe he was killed off, what is it with this show killing the characters that have the biggest potential for character development?? It's infuriating.
Robin was one of the characters I was the most excited to see in season 4. I loved her helping the group and braving the Upside Down even though she was rightful scared. I also loved her and Steve navigating her crush on Vickie.
Argyle's character was kinda meh to me. He was funny sometimes, but I wish we knew more about him.
Jason's character terrified me. He instantly wanted blood and was able to rally his friends and the town behind him.
El's journey throughout the season was great. She had a lot of self-discovery and the exploration of her relationships with Dr. Brenner and Henry were so interesting.
Vecna / Henry's character was definitely the highlight of season four. This was the first time a human-like villain was introduced and I was obsessed every time he was on screen. His presence was amazing in both the flashback scenes and as Vecna due to how unsettling his character is. Before it was revealed that he has been the monsters in each season all along, I wondered if that was the case. I can't wait to see what happens next season.
Nancy's was great this season. I've loved seeing her progression over the seasons as her confidence grows. And her determination to kill Vecna when she shot him and "I have two guns in my room", I love her.
I'm not sure how I feel about the love triangle that's forming with her and Jonathan. Jonathan and Nancy have been through a lot together but their lives are starting to go into different directions and I wish they would just talk about it! It seems like Steve and Nancy might be developing feelings for each other again and I don't know how I feel about it. Both their characters have grown so much since they dated in season one that things could potentially work out but Nancy is still dating Jonathan.
I loved that Lucas and Max's relationship was explored more since I feel like it has kinda been on the back burner. They had so many good scenes together, like when Vecna attacked Max in the graveyard and the attic.
Ending
The very end of the season, with Upside Down spilling into our world is terrifying. This is the first season where there is a cliff hanger and the characters haven't won.
I was crying during most of the end because of things listed below
Jonathan telling Will that he will love him not matter what because he suspects he's gay
Max admitting that she prayed Billy would die, that she hesitated because she wasn't sure he should be saved, and she now wishes she would die instead
Max's memory to retreat in was the Snow Ball
Joyce having a flashback of Bob's death when Hopper says he will distract the demodogs
Steve's sacrifice and death
Lucas' reaction to Max's broken bones and bleeding eyes
"I can't see or feel anything."
Max telling Lucas she doesn't want to die
The crew reuniting in the aftermath of the "earthquake"
Max and the crew in the hospital
Dustin talking with Wayne Munson about Eddie
El and Hopper reuniting

I'll be honest, I too am a little bothered by that. A lot of people are saying it's silly (before we're even getting the official release) and I'm sure people (who hate him) are also upset that Bakugou is coming back.
Nowadays, I really feel like everyone wants everything to be top tier and written to perfection. Always having high expectations instead of enjoying something as it is.
It reminds me of people complained about the OVAs that were meant to simply be comedic. It's ridiculous.
Some people in this fanbase expect too much.
It's not like BNHA was entirely written to be something so serious. We have a kid with tape for a quirk, another with balls on his head, a guy who yells for a living, another who can manipulate fibers, etc. It doesn't even stop at quirks.
Just even how the characters' personalities are, how they're designed and how some scenes are written to be played for laughs.
I'm just real tired of people thinking every piece of media should be perfect. It should be enough that it's entertaining.
Don't like it. Leave.
You're right and I've talked a lot about how every chapter can't be a masterpiece. But messing up a "death" of the 2nd main character is a mistake not to make.
Now I'll be honest, when I first read the leaks, at the end, I stopped and thought... "is that a joke? Hell no." Because I somehow understand the hate towards this chapter (this isn't a hate post only positivity here!!). But let's resolve the love and hate Horikoshi receives this week, shall we?
Bakugou's death is sad, respectful, beautiful, but to me, its quality depended a lot on rather he would come back to life or not because we have to take the story in consideration. My Hero Academia is a story that gives hope, it's not meant to be a tragedy... so can you imagine a kid that dreamed to be the top hero and to have a happy future with his childhood friend to just die.. and that's it? Can you imagine Izuku even able to grieve and show the glimpse of a smile after Bakugou's death? To consider himself the strongest hero if he couldn't save his best friend? No. And what kind of life long rivalry ends with "can i keep up with you?"?? Theyre not even fighting side by side once?? The bromance/romance between the two is a huge pilar of the story and it ends with them not even being officially friends at least??? There's still a lot of details that sold how Bakugou definitely couldn't be off the story for good but we're not here to talk about that. His death is well written to me because of the way it comes with sacrifice and of the fact that it ends with revival. Now... is his revival well written? Well, unlike this morning when I first read the leaks, I believe that it's gonna be well written.
I understand why people are angry.. if they believe that, that's it, Bakugou's back to life and will go running again next chapter. If it happens I'll be the first to cry when I read this bullshit, I swear. Because 1st, Bakugou being back so fast feels useless. What was his death for?? If it just causes the death of a pro hero we barely saw in the story, then better not do it at all. Was it written just to make a good cliff hanger and keep people excited for the next chapter each week?? That's it????? No. I don't think so. Horikoshi isn't like that. He even dared to draw the my villain academia arc, despite how risky it was. People read hero comics for the heroes, they don't usually want dozens and dozens of chapters about the "bad guys". Yet he did it because he wanted to (and it happened to be one of the best arcs, congrats). Anyway, just to say, fans want consequences to Bakugou's death. At least Izuku going feral seeing the carnage Shigaraki did, Izuku proving once again how villains and heroes are two sides of the same coin and how the differences between the two can be very thin, so thin that Izuku could give himself to rage and act very unheroic... villainous. That could lead to talk again about morals, the good and the bad, the values of a hero- it could've opened the door to so many good stuff!! But here we are, with... nothing. Nothing because the revival act feels (currently) empty. Edgeshot is a character that had almost no screen time, has never been relevant to the story whatsoever and never even spoke to Bakugou but now he comes out of nowhere and saves him, dies for him. Like that. I'm an edgeshot fan, he's cool, I'm happy to see some actual ninja stuff from him, but rn I get why people are mad. Edgeshot basically came like "Hi! My name is plot armor! Let's pretend nothing happened so there's absolutely no consequences and none of your awesome theories will come true!"
If bakugou really stands up next chapter, izuku arrives and they just fight together, then yes this is utter crap. Every chapter between 356 to 364 would feel meaningless.
But I have trust in Horikoshi and im convinced that Edgeshot's sacrifice is just the first step of the resurrection. Jeanist still has to do an insane job, the other heroes have to hold back Shigaraki, some will probably die too, and Bakugou will surely still be very much dead when Izuku arrives so we'll get Izuku's reaction and all the good stuff that comes with it. I'm excited and trust Horikoshi on this one.
If the revival is wrote like that, well handled, then the 364th chapter is a good one. It's not the kind of chapter you can judge on its own, but unfortunately, seems like a lot of fans (now haters..?) did that today.
I'll either praise of shit on this chapter after we get next week's. On a side note, I really loved the All for One stuff, the Stars and Stripes with All Might moment, the Mirko moments, there's good stuff!! For now I'm just watching how Horikoshi plans to handle this. Patience, everyone 👍

No because “sweet is the lullaby over your nest” was my personal favorite because of how gut wrenching it was. It was beautiful and the reactions to the reveal in the last chapter was my absolute favorite of how Bruce is torn between the father and Batman
I don’t think Tim will ever be able to get beyond chilly civility with Jason and probably would never let him near his baby
Jason being the thing he hates and I wanted his blood and complete devastation throughout the entire fic. I don’t think the family will ever be able to fully forgive him
Dick trying to be a better brother and he has doubts but never wanting to acknowledge them trying to believe in the best of his brothers then when the truth comes out tries to protect Tim picking a side.
But my favorite was Barbara because she was to closest to the truth the outsider looking in and seeing Tim’s perspective not caring that Bruce is trying to be blind to the worst but correct conclusion. The fact that she also point of Jason’s hypocrisy over his actions against Tim was refreshing seeing how everyone else tries to brush it off as the past. She was the one who warned Bruce against his actions
The ending the cliff hanger of what would be the family’s reaction be how they would be able to move on from this revaluation Bruce falling apart was perfection
Favorite piquancy fic
thank you!!!! wow!! thank you so much i'm so happy you liked it!!!! it means a lot to hear your kind words 🥰🥰🥰
and yeah you're right, in terms of how it plays out in the future it's a very very very slim chance of tim and jason ever getting to a point where they can be somewhat civil. i think the only thing that would push tim to treat jason with some amiability is once danny grows up and starts asking questions. even then tim will not tell danny that jason is his father and if he ever asks he'll just say something like 'dad is out of the picture but it's okay because momma loves you more than there are stars in the sky'. jason is completely out of the picture. he doesnt come to danny's soccer games, to his first day of school, his graduation, him going off to college. he gets none of that out of a mix of tim not wanting him there and jason not wanting to disrespect tim's wishes because he's the bad guy here, he's not owed anything much less from tim.
tim is willing to compromise for the job. he'll work with jason if he has to but not when it comes to danny which he absolutely draws the line. jason is dead to him on that end and the family quickly learns that if they're not okay with that, then they'll be dead to tim too. it's a tense situation, a very walking on eggshells thing. everyone know that if its going to work they're going to have to deal with all the ugly parts. jason's guilt and feeling of injustice would definitely hit him hard because it's not just him learning about what he did while under the influence of the pit, it's seeing the results. the disgust and sickness he feels is indescribable and it makes him want to cry and it makes him want to throw up.
he's not that person he isn't, and he tells himself that everyday for weeks afterward because he's in a haze and in denial and telling himself that even at his lowest, at his angriest- he'd have never done that. but the truth is that he did (the evidence is right there). it was with the influence of the pit but he still did it. something inside him had the potential to do that and he acted on it and he's never wanted to rip his skin off more, he's never wished that he'd stayed dead more. he hates himself because he's trying to rationalize it, justify it just like those pigs who have one too many drinks at the bar and then go home and touch their daughters. 'oh it was the pit! i'm not me when i have too much devil juice in me!'
jason despises himself, he can't look at himself because it was still him. maybe a bit twisted and carved up but it was his hands, his face, his mind. it was him. all him. he did it.
i didn't delve into it much but the amount grief, the hatred, the realization it definitely send jason into a spiral which makes him feel worse because what if he does it to someone else someone innoce-(tim was innocent tim was innocent how could he have ever thought he wasn't?). given his tenuous connection to the family, the only person i can imagine him reaching out to for support to is roy. telling him what he learned, what he did. roy has a lot of experience with the feelings that jason must be feeling and i think he'd help him a lot coming to terms with the guilt, accepting what he did, and knowing that he could spend the rest of his life trying to make up for what he did and even then neither he or tim may ever forgive him. he has to play it by ear, because up until that point tim had told no one about danny (had he though jason would hurt the kid if he knew? and the thought just sends jason down a whole other path of self flagellation).
i don't think jason ever forgives himself. i think tim learns to live, learns to accept what happened and try to move past it with his baby- he regresses, has bad days where it feels fresh but most days he has are happy. but jason never forgives himself for not remembering, for not being able to ever truly know what he did (because he won't ask tim, he will not put him in that position).
bruce i think is similar to jason in which he never truly forgives himself for not seeing, for failing tim, for failing jason. it all comes back to him that if he'd found jason sooner, if he'd just been better then tim wouldn't have gotten hurt and jason wouldn't have to live with the knowledge that he did what he did.
dick also has a hard time processing but ultimatly decide to lend as much support as he can to tim. that's who he is worried about more. (it's a bit cruel, tragic even that jason is suffering so horribly but isn't determined to be someone who deserves support or aid but like i said this is a really bad situation for everyone). a commenter on the fic had said they hope that dick ends up as a sort of fill-in dad for danny and i think this is how it would play out somewhat. dick is there when tim can't be, dick tries to put in the effort and earn back the trust he knows he's lost after all that happened.
barbara is definitely someone who deserves a lot of credit. i think if she'd been present after titan's tower she would've picked up on something. bruce and dick were chasing after jason but she'd always been an in-the-moment thinker and i think she would've seen something in tim that got her concerned. when she learns about what happened i think she'd be sad, because it's a horrible situation and as much as she'd expressed some annoyance with jason for his comments in the cave she'd feel bad for him. because she knows he's not a horrible person but he still did this horrible thing (not in his right mind and that's a slipper slope to be on, justifying vs taking accountability. blaming vs being blameless. at fault vs innocent). it's a massive gray area of justice and since they all work in pursuit of justice it would definitely be difficult. she feels for jason and for tim and all she can do is try to to be there and help pick up the pieces.
danny i think figures it out years down the line when he's much much much older. from there i think he makes the decision of wanting to reach out and see who jason is or to stay and remain content with the mother who cared for and loved him despite how he was conceived. how that turns out though wel...ill leave it up for interpretation.
thank you so much for your kind words!!!! it means a lot to hear that this was your favorite fic !!! 🥰🥰🥰

Since the year is ending, I'd like to talk about my top 5 favorite shows of this year. There's a lot of really good show releases this year, but these are the ones that I personally loved. [Alt text are available in the images]
5. Interview with the Vampire
This is such a good adaptation. The writing, production, and casting is phenomenal. Also, I'd like to say props to them for acknowledging the issues Louis would have experienced during that time period. It brought so much depth to the character. I also love how Claudia came into the picture. That was a change that I personally loved more than the book version. The performance of Bailey Bass as Claudia made it even better. I think her episode was my favorite. It really showed how disturbing and tragic her situation was. I'd also like to appreciate Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson's electrifying chemistry together. Both of them made Louis and Lestat's story more interesting for me.
Lastly, I am beyond happy that they made this show so gay. Like they fully embraced it, without shame. I love this show for it.
4.1899
As a long time Dark fan, I was so excited for this show. Although I admit, I wanted more from it. Still I enjoyed watching this season and I truly believe that things would get even better once we get to the next season (if there is one 👀).
What I loved the most from this is the fact that the characters are speaking in different languages and are from different countries. Like they really spoke their native languages instead of making them just speak in english with foreign accents. Because of that we got to see the characters navigate their way through the language barriers and build meaningful connections.
Now I'd like to talk about what distracted me the most... Eyk and Maura's chemistry. There's just something about them that I really really dig (Angst? Longing? Them being so touchy together? All of the above?). Although, I'd like to say I still like Daniel. I feel like the whole story behind him would be heart breaking.
3.The Sandman
This was my most anticipated show for August, it was like an early birthday present for me. I truly enjoyed this show, especially Tom Sturridge's performance as poor little meow meow, baby girl, blorbo Morpheous. The way he made his eyes teary-eyed all the time is such a perfect acting choice. Kirby Howell-Baptiste also delivered as the lovely Death. She really made the character as loving and caring as possible. Watching her sibling dynamic with Sturridge as Dream is all I've ever wished for. Mason Alexander Park of course brought Desire truly come to life in this adaptation. I hope we get to see more of their performance next season.
My favorite episode would probably be episode 4 to 6. Those three episodes are a package deal considering the themes that they handled. Also, I'd like to acknowledge the wonderful surprise episode 11. I am totally in love with how they gracefully and respectfully they handled Calliope's story. They gave her agency and respected her as an actual character. I also loved the short interactions she had with Morpheus, especially the "you came" ...."you called" scene, that was so jdkfjeifjbcisibsjsjk ( I can't describe what I felt but I was a mess when that scene came up).
2.Severance
Wow, this show was a last minute watch for me and it was so good it made my top 5. This show had such a good mix of mystery, sci-fi, tension, drama, and a little bit of comedy. I also did not expect to love the characters of this show. Each of the characters had something equally interesting going on, it wasn't just the protagonist who had something to do. Honestly, I'm surprised with how well they fleshed out the characters, even though they're still in season 1.
What really cemented this show in my top 5 is its finale. My gosh, it was so thrilling and suspenseful. I also think that this show's finale is an example of a cliff hanger done right. They answered some questions, left out some unanswered ones, and ended the finale with a bang (not an action packed scene, but enough to make you stand up the couch and scream "NO! that's it!?).
I think this show has a potential to be one of the best sci-fi tv series of all time if they do it right until the end.
1.Andor
This year I thought my top favorite show would be The Sandman, but Andor came in and landed right at the top. I'm not even a Star Wars fan, just a casual viewer, but this show was excellent in a lot of ways. This show at its core, is a well-done spy thriller set in space. It's got 12 episodes with 4 different arcs that truly delivered. This show also managed to tackle social and political issues of today, with such care.
This show also had incredible production, writing, direction, set design, vfx, editing , and the soundtrack is *chef's kiss*. It is such a high quality show. I hope they get a lot of praise and awards because this show really deserves it. Also, this show is so quotable. I can't even pick a favorite because they're just so many.
Lastly, I'd like to talk about Cassian's development here because the finale came full circle. Episode 1 Cassian and Episode 12 Cassian had such a stark difference. I cannot wait where his arc is going in the next season. I hope we get to see something about his sister, because I want something happy for him at least.

Right, now that I've seen it a second time I'm a little clearer on how I feel about Dead Reckoning Part 1.
First off the things I love
The IMF motto being, We do this for those we hold close and the people we'll never know.
Ilsa looking so badass with that eye patch and a sniper gun
How did you plan on getting out?.... Of course.
Ethan, Luther and Benji especially the airport scene and the bomb. I especially loved Luther directing Benji to the bomb, much like Benji does for Ethan.
The dynamic between Ethan and Grace was something straight of an old school caper movie, loved it. Especially the scenes in Rome.
The Fiat chase but most of all Ethan crashing the car and just.. oh my god his embarrassed apologies and Grace be like, it's okay. Metaphor for premature ejaculation or what. (Yes my mind went there both times. Sue me)
Ilsa and Ethan in Venice, especially the balcony and gondola moments.
Grace's outfit at the party was fucking incredible.
Paris
Ilsa with a sword
Benji immediately going to look for Ethan on e the Comms had been compromised.
Benji believing in Ethan so much, that he was going to let him drive off a mountain without telling him.
My reservations
As much as they didn't want to leave this film on a cliff hanger, it's still only half the story and I can't wholly judge how I feel about it until I see the second part. So I do feel a little dissatisfied.
I am not a fan of the idea that Ethan was semi-forced to join the IMF because he'd have ended up in prison otherwise. Personally I feel it's a bit dull and not as interesting as Ethan actively joining because he was young and dumb and thought the idea of being a spy was quite cool and fun, until his team was killed and shit got real. Also, at the end of the first film Ethan is still somewhat naive to believe he can just walk away from this life. (My feelings on this may change when we get the second part, but at the moment I'm like, thanks but no thanks)
It's seemingly a lot easier to not fall off a moving train than you think. That was not my favourite action sequence and as much as it was done on a real train, it felt somewhat fake because they just laid on it and did seem to worry about having to hold on.
The Gabriel guy was a bit, meh.
Overall there are v.interesting themes, which are not just about what you can trust digitally but also what you see, or think you see, in the real world. Which is extra enhanced when you have the IMF and face masks. I mean the fact it was Ethan who broke into the security building at the start was perfect.

the bones for across the spiderverse to be a great movie are there, but the directors do not use their run time effectively to tell that story. my thoughts are below the read more cut
Miles' plot line is about not needing validation from the people around you to achieve what you are capable of. But this is shown in three pieces, 1) his mom being worried about him not being welcome in the discriminatory world of high ed, which is super real but i feel like this needed more thematic support thoughout instead of focusing on him having too much on his plate, 2) him choosing not to believe the other spiderpeople when they treat him as inherently bad, 3) payoff? he tells his mom her advice was helpful but it turns out it is his mom from another world. I feel like that number three point really hurt 2, which should have been the climax of the movie. her not being the mom who said that to him really took the wind out of the sails of this moment which due to its placement should have been the climax of the movie.
so much of the first part of the movie was miles feeling stressed and having too much to do. he is in a loving supportive community so his future need for validation in college seems a bit far off. I wish they had gone into the ethics of why the spiderclub can't help each other so that these teens can balance their lives. that felt more where the plot was going but it was just kinda dropped. It is only in there so the big bad villian can be created but doesn't have any actual payoff in this move.
Gwen arc is also about validation and knowing who has your best interest at heart. I feel like this plot is the typical you run away from home with your cool friends and realize your new friends are not as cool as you thought trope. I think this plot line is better handled than they usually are as her father does realize that it is not Gwen that needs to change but himself, so it is not full on prodigal son shit. Also some of her new friends are still cool and do want to help her achieve her goals, she so she has to really figure out the people around her and know which ones have her back. I think my problem with Gwen's arc is that i feel like she should have been the protagonist in this movie but she wasn't? like her arc was much better plotted than miles' but i still don't feel like she was central enough to the plot. I think her part needed to be beefed up enough so that she was the true protagonist, and that would have fixed the movie a bit.
Honestly i think the easiest way to fix the movie is just in the last 20 minutes. have Miles' arc end when he is transported. cut his interaction with universe 42 inhabitants. then have Gwen's bit where she is deciding for herself what she wants to do and not going after the approval of her new friends, have that be the climax and have them discovering that miles in not where he should be as the quick curtain to the film, don't drag it out. this would cut a lot of time at the end that could then be put into scenes where Gwen is questioning more what is the role of the spider club.
I do also like the take on generation trauma in this film as it shows how older generations can impose trauma on the younger because they just assume that that is how life has to be and instead of attempting to change how things work they instead put rules into place that insure others experience the same things they did. I hope this thread is more fully developed in the sequel. I think i'm ok with it not being completely tied off but we will have to see.
I think my biggest complaint is that this movie just didn't feel done. maybe when i see part three it will tie up all the loose ends and i will feel so happy with the story. but i feel like this was a two parter tv special where you are supposed to see the next part the following week. it was not just a cliff hanger at the end. major plot and thematic threads were not tied off sufficiently to make this movie feel like its own entity.

I. JJTS FINISHED WATCHING MONSTER AND HOLYYYYYYY FUCK
IM SO SAD THAT THIS IS THE END 🙁
SPOILERS!!
NO WAY JOHAN ESCAPED AGAIN BRO HE'S GONNA FUCK EVERYTHING UP 💀
ALSO TENMA IS SUCH A SWEETHEART WHAT THE HELL.. JOINING DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS HES A GEM I CANT BELIEVE THE LACK OF TENMA CONTENT AFTER ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT HE HAS DONE FOR EVERYBODY IN THIS SERIES
ABSOLUTE GEM OF A MAN I CANT EVEN EXPRESS HOW I FEEL ABOUT JIM WITHOUT SOUNDING FERAL AND CRINGE CRONGE (potential verbal appreciation post? It’ll probs be rotting in my drafts HAHSHD)
Also can we talk about how pretty Nina’s voice is when she’s serious, it really reminds me of nausicaa’s voice WHIHC IS A WIN WIN!
Really wanted to find out their real names
ALSO WHEN ROBERTO WAS ADOLF REIN WHATEVER??? THINKJNG ABOIT HOW GRIMMER WAS TALKING ABT HIS BESTIE OMG I NEARLY CRIED BRO.
THAT ALSO LEFT ME WITH MY JAW DROPPED BECAUSE NAW WHAT THE HELL HOW DO U EXPECT ME TO CASUALLY REGISTER THAT INFORMATION WHEN YOU DROP SUCH A BIG BOMB ON ME. AT LEAST WARN ME 😀
Johan being a menace to society (in the worst way possible) never fails to make me giggle
Adding on, Roberto is a meme of a character cos just when you think everything is going okay, he makes an appearance and suddenly you know damn well everything is not going okay anymore
ALSO I DIDNT KNOW GRIMMER WAS GOING TO FUCKING DIE??? WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT
FRANZ BONAPARTA BEING SUCH A SISSY,, GOING ON A MF TANGENT OF HOW HE FUCJED UP LIKE YEAH NO SHIT STFU
wim being so adorbs <33
EVA AND MARTIN BRO THEY HAD IT GOING;;;(;;(::-6;;) WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE
Eva redemption arc I mean queen was lowkey killing it throughout the series.. sometimes questionable but otherwise ily (but I HATED how she treated tenma 😒)
NINA GETTING THE BEST SCORES GO YOU QUEEN YOU DESERVE IT
What was Johan and Nina’s mum doing bro- did that favouritism play a role in this outrage.. guess we’ll never know!
OH NOT TO MENTION MONSTER SOUNDTRACK SLAPS SOOOO HARD. SKIPPING THE OPENINB FEELS LIKE A CRIME. FULLY LISTENED TO THE ENDING IN THE LAST EPSODE BC YK I WANT TO GO OUT PROPERLY AND DAMN IT’S RLLY NICE? BUT I DONT THINK I WOULDVE BEEN ABLE TO LISTEN TO IT AT THE END OF EACH EP BECAUSE MAN THESE CLIFF HANGERS AND HOOKS MAKE ME GO FERAL FOR THE NEXT EP
WHENEVER “THE SEEDS OF TIME” STARTED PLAYING IN A SCENE I WOULD GET SO EXCITED IT’S PROBABLY MY FAV OST RN. OMG AND “Present” IT’S SUCH A CUTE OST AARGRGEGSGESHSGDFFEDD
THIS AJIME IS SO GOOD HOW COME I BARELY SEE OR HEAR PPL TALKING ABT IT… ???DEFINITELY TOP 3 BRO MAYBE EVEN TOP 2 (idek what my anime ranking list looks like 👹)
LUNGE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ARC REAL?? When he said he’d buy a beer for grimmer n they can talk about this whole case 💔💔
Nah Lunge was mad funny, his only personality trait was hunting tenma down,, then half way through the series he goes “I’ve made a fatal mistake 😗” n reconsiders his life decisions. The audacity,, and I was loving it.
Milan bro 😢 AND TENMA TELLING THE KIDS TO STUDY HARD AND NOT GIVE UP?? I NEED A TENMA IN MY LIFE.
DIETER IS SUCH A CUTIE PATOOTIE OMLLL
okay after some reflection johan saying "which one didn't she need" or stmhn like that at the end BAFFLED me. it made me really sad too
oh yeah HAHAHAHA johan being an iconic cross dresser. you can't tell me he wasn't rocking that outfit when he was with suk... also when he dressed as young anna HIS FACE WAS SO FUNNY "welcome back! :D" bro is so devious HEGHAHSDG
just thhnking about that tenma push up scene it had me giggling and swinging my feet OGH LET;S NOT FORGET WHEN HE WAS LIKE "good girl" TO NINA .... that's the stuff i want to hear frfr
on a serious note though, he's such a good father figure. this man would make the best father ever.. i've seen multiple comments saying that even johan saw him as a father figure and LORD DOES THAT MAKE ME UPSET :(((((
that nameless monster book spoke facts at the end tho, johan is such a beautiful name no joke
his hair looks so fluffy too
HAHA no how about the scream he scrumpt i was lowkey embarrassed like johan you can scream sm better than that.
idk why but he's so fine when he drops the ground- both times in the library and in the rain. i swear it's the hair and his back
yk this anime reminds me of that one tiktok sounds with the garden song that says "no matter where you are, everyone is always connected". it's quite cool to think about it holistically, but in a sense it's also so surreal, and even scary. this masterpiece is an extreme reflection of our world imo, with many elements of truth and reality. anyways i'll leave this kind of stuff for another post (draft lol). but honestly though, i really liked this series. maybe since it's older, it has that sense of authenticity?? not invalidating other anime series but idk. i really enjoyed it.
RAHAHGSHJDHFGHJG LET'S STAY TOGETHER BEING TENMA'S FAVOURITE SONG OMG THIS IS KILLING ME HES SO my heart is aching sm..
im jus reading about tenma's childhood rn :')
WAIT THETRS;S SOMETHING CALLED ANOTHER MONSTER?/ IS THIS A SEQUEL OR SMTHN... well yk what time it is then!

Season 4 vol 2 spoilers kinda (random thoughts or things that happened idk read if your bored.)
So what duffers, you were just queerbaiting all along? The parallels, the byler evidence, all of it for nothing? Before volume 2 I had no doubt about byler and I 100% thought it was gonna be cannon but the love confession threw me off and I'm in tears rn, byler has been one of my #1 ships since last year. I can't imagine how other bylers feel who have been in the fandom since the beginning of the show. The 210+ page slides of byler? Mike pinning, the Mike voice, 'crazy together', Everything just for it to be nothing?
I don't understand, I had so much hope and I wasn't prepared for that scene. I went in there thinking Mike couldn't say it. What throws me off is how Mike says he loved el since they first met, but then Mike pushed el away because he thought she lied about finding will at the quarry. Also heros playing during that one song line when hugging his mom?
Obviously there's a theory about Mike only liking El when she looks like a boy but idk. Bylers, do not lose hope, maybe there's a ton of proof in season 4.
Atleast we got half host will in Hawkins. That to me makes me a bit happy. It disappointed me though, I feel like it was an average season, not really that dark to me like the duffers were saying. Also will didn't come out. We were left on the weirdest cliff hanger.
Did you see how the romantic pairings were at the end when el is picking up the dead flower? J0pp3r, byler and j4ncy, idk could be a coincidence because I don't really believe in those pairing things that much.
It's disappointing to me how I woke up early yesterday morning due to a family matter and couldn't go back to sleep and I'm still not the tiniest bit tired - I've been up for like 24 hours.
Poor Eddie, atleast he died a hero. I think max is gonna be okay because everyone else who was put into a coma was okay, like Henry and if I remember correctly El was put into one too.
Around 2:58-59am before stranger things me and my friend were up waiting for it over text and I said I was having hiccups because I was and she had them too and right at 3am they stopped, that was weird. tell me If you had them too so like we know the duffers sold their soul or sum - im jk but the hiccup thing is weird.
Also I was crying over the love confession when my cat started to meow and I was like whatt? Because I thought she needed food or something and no, there was a frog and it was wet and it basically came out of the middle of nowhere, I'm not joking.
The way Mike didn't notice will was basically sobbing when he gave the painting - why not comfort your friend or ask why he's crying, or did he understand? Jonathan definitely understood and why bring up the Lego thing to talk about it?
Also Jason is just deed now? He got ripped apart by the gate😗✌
I really want will to be a villain now, from how obvious his feelings are and how heartbroken he was in s3 and like tryna hide it or sum in s4(honestly I saw him being a shipper but I didn't think it was gonna be like that) he deserves his actual villain arc but I don't think we'll get it since nothing good ever happens for us. And plus the timing is probably gonna skip like a week or so because of the big gate around Hawkins unless nothing happens but vecnas gonna strike again.
Also am I the only person missing how El brought Max back to life? Also what's with her now? The new her is cool and stuff but kinda scares me cause idk what she's doing. Go girlboss😘
Thanks Noah for trolling, we were rooting for you anyways
I think im gonna take a shower from all the stuff on my long sleeves and I might wash clothes to wear my sweet silk pjs. Wish you bylers luck. Thanks for coming to my (i hope your enjoying your chicken) ted talk.
