want to give my two cents on the AI usage in the maestro trailer--
i think seventeen doing a whole concept that is anti-AI is very cool, especially as creatives themselves i think it's good that they're speaking up against it and i hope it gets more ppl talking about the issue. i also understand on a surface level the artistic choice (whether it was made by the members, the mv director, or whoever else), to directly use AI in contrast to real, human-made visuals and music in order to criticize it. i also appreciate that they clearly stated the intention of the use of AI at the beginning of the video
however, although i understand it to an extent, i do not agree with the choice to use AI to critique AI. one of the main ethical concerns with generative AI is that it is trained on other artists' work without their knowledge, consent, or compensation. and even when AI generated images are being used to critique AI, it still does not negate this particular ethical concern
the use of AI to critique also does not negate the fact that this is work that could have been done by an actual artist. i have seen some people argue that it's okay in this context because it's a critique specifically about AI, and it is content that never would have been done by a real artist anyway because it doesn't make sense for the story they're trying to tell. but i disagree. i think you can still tell the exact same story without using AI
and in fact, i would argue that it would make the anti-AI message stronger if they HAD paid an artist to draw/animate the scenes that are supposed to represent AI generated images. wouldn't it just be proof that humans can create images that are just as bad and nonsensical and soulless as AI, but that AI can't replicate the creativity and beauty and basic fucking anatomy that's in human-made art?
it feels very obvious this was not just a way to cut corners and costs like a lot of scummy people are using AI for. ultimately it was a very intentional creative decision, i just personally think it was a very poor one. and even if some ethical considerations were taken into account before this decision, i certainly don't think all of them were. at the very least i feel like the decision undermines the message they want to convey
i would also like to recognize that i myself am not an artist, and i have seen some artists that are totally on board with the use of AI in this specific context, so clearly this is not a topic that is cut and dry. but generative AI is still new, and i think it's important to keep having these conversations
#melia.txt#also want to add that as musicians svt are more directly threatened by AI generated audio than they are by AI generated images#and yet AI generated images is what was used in the video#and i guess the MV director/production company are the ones directly responsible for putting that in there#whether it was their initial idea or not#and they work in a visual medium so perhaps that makes it more 'fair' but idk it just feels like#the commentary is around music. which makes sense. and using human produced music/sound#but then taking advantage of AI images#idk just feels weird#i mean i don't like it either way#like i said in the main post i understand the intention behind the creative decision#and i'm still happy svt are speaking against ai at all i do think overall they're doing a good thing here#i just don't agree with the creative decision they/the production company/whoever made#edit: deleted the part about not boycotting svt over this bc ppl were commenting about boycotting bc of the 🛴 stuff#i meant specifically /I/ am not calling for a boycott because of specifically the ai stuff#was just trying to make a general point that im not making this post bc i want to sabatoge svt or whatever#bc kpop fans love to pull that catd whenever u criticize anything#so yeah just removed that bit bc i dont want ppl getting confused what im talking about#respect ppl boycotting because of scooter/israel stuff but thats not what this post was intended to be about#edit 2: turning off reblogs bc im going to bed and having asomewhat controversial post up is not gonna help me sleep well lol#may or my not turn rb's back on in the morning

I played this mission (and subsequently finished HITMAN 3 even though it was very late because I simply couldn’t go to bed after the “Necessary Evil” cutscene) three years ago today.
On Valentine’s Day.
It was a coincidence, but because I’ve been obsessed with whatever is going on between these two (i.e. an ineffable and seemingly unbreakable bond that is neither really romance nor friendship but is so strong and special it feels to me like it transcends the concept of love itself) for years, I thought it was a funny one.

Fandom really really really needs to get with the program that trans mascs exist as like both a concept in the first place and the as like real people who actually exist
How the fuck. Do people. Think. Trans men don't count as mpreg?!? It's the one scenario that is actually not only possible in real life but happens regularly!
And. If. Your first??? Explanation for why a guy could have a vagina is that it's omegaverse? Or magic? Or that in an au of Mulan where a girl dresses up as a guy... but the canon character is a guy... you jump to omegaverse rather than Trans guy. That is literally the easiest explanation here.
Like. Please. I.m begging you. Realize trans mascs exist.
Also while I'm at it. Where are the trans people in omegaverse stories????? Like this is supposedly a genre for deconstructing gender and playing with it but it really just seems like a way to dive headfirst into biologic essentialism and completely ignore that trans people exist? (Because trans tags and omegaverse tags seem to have like no overlap.) (Although the intersex tag sees plenty of use with omegaverse but I'm guessing that is a fetishistic hot mess given the other rampant problems I've noticed and general awareness that intersex topics aren't handled well by society in general)
Like. Idk. I just. The fact trans men and mascs are just like apparently lower on the thoughts that occur to writers for why a "girl" would be dressed as a guy, why a guy could be pregnant or have a vagina than magic or gender essentialism: the au. Is just.

provocative puritan posing (inspired by this painting)
[id: a digital painting of thomas fairfax sitting at a small table in an interior. he is wearing seventeenth-century military garb, and is resting one hand on the table and holding a glove with the other. his legs are crossed in a manner which looks slightly (though unintentionally) suggestive. end id.]

girl help I’m experiencing
#weird addendum but pls don’t reblog my vent posts??? why would you even want to????#everything has been So Much lately and I wasn’t gonna vent but then I remembered this is my blog and I can do what I want#one of my best friends left the country last week and he’ll be gone for like two years and I’m so sad without him around#I mean he’s been messaging me every day since he left but it’s still hard not having him here yknow?#and I’m moving into his place but it requires a lot of work before I can so I’m always exhausted#and my joints have all but given out on me completely so I’m always covered in KT tape and braces#which doesn’t gel very well with moving furniture and heavy boxes#and I have no money so I need to be job searching but I can’t do that until I move. BUT I NEED MONEY TO MOVE#on top of that my grandpa died and there’s so much family drama involving that it’s unreal#and weirdly the thing I’ve recently felt bad about is I’ve been neglecting my self imposed Fandom Duties#maybe not fandom specifically but like. creative duties#I want to write fic. I want to draw. I want to read and comment on other people’s stuff#I also really want to do more of my non fandom writing because I want to get something published this year. but i got no good idea aaack#or early next year#and I’ve just had like. no time at all to do any of it and the time I have had I’ve been too drained to do it#ughghghghghghggh#I think today I will drink and try to write something. as a treat.#after I go on a reblog spree to bury this because emotions are very embarrassing#anyway how are you?

I 100% get tumblrs need to grow their userbase to continue. Fully support that
But literally @staff any changes to the dashboard or adding an algorithm HAS to be able to be opt out or you will completely kill the use of this site by longtime users who have been VERY vocal about not wanting an algorithm
Tumblr's advantage over other sites is that you can control what content you see and taking that away from your users is downright stupid
I get new users arent use to that and can understand it benefiting them to have an algorithm to help get the hang of the site but again one should be able to opt out of it
That way long time users can continue to use Tumblr the way they enjoy it and if new users get the hang of things and want to turn off the algorithm they can

Dear new accounts mass liking my posts from completely blank blogs and with default pfps:
Please reblog things. It is the only way things get shared here (there isn't a real algorithm). It is good and encouraged (it is not the same as reposting since when you click the reblog button it keeps the creators original post and link to their blog in what you are sharing)
I suck at explaining things but reblogging is vital to the tumblr ecosystem especially for artists and writers. You don't need to carefully curate your blog or keep to some theme. If you want to do that you can create sideblogs too to reblog certain themed posts. If you like something enough to hit "like" then you should totally reblog it! People will eventually be following you and probably would like to see that post too!
Also people block and report blank blogs especially ones that have the default pfp and header because we have a bot problem and this looks like bot behavior (especially with a blank blog!) So you should update those things too asap so you don't get mistaken for a bot 🙏💜

(*) iconic, not favorite (my favorite isn't on here either because he is not iconic enough),
I didn't include Fitz & Fool & Nighteyes for obvious reasons (they would win) but honorable mention for all of them
Most iconic fitz moments according to me: murder spree while laughing in front of everyone at buckkeep & "that game was taught to me by a woman!!!" when dutiful was being sexist about the stones game, because that moment is hilarious to me
Beloved has many iconic moments, two of my favorites are the plumbing rant in AQ, and "fool you were never with molly" ".....but I was with you" in FQ
Nighteyes is just iconic in general

lil' thing taken from my google docs brainstorming document (section 5--im separating the brainstorm off topics, it gets easier to check and decide--"quick recap")
[Transcripted from google docs]
Original concept: Meine was originally a project I had to be made on the Gacha Life mini-movie medium.
The only defined parts were: A. Meine was a boy with powers that had been exploited by his dad in the past because of his ability of identifying magic rocks; B. His mother took back his guard when she found out and he’s been living with her since; C. He met Kyouka because his mother got called to help in a project since it is of her area of work; D. Kyouka had an unconventional childhood as a test subject because of her great power; E. For her better development as a teen she got transferred to an actual school, to which Meine also was as his mother thought they’d do good friends since Meine was so shy; F. Meine would turn himself to his father in exchange for letting his friends safe eventually; G. Meine’s parents were divorced and his father was a rich guy and when he was 5 to 12 years old his dad had his guard which was taken from his under abuse reports; H. Everybody in this world would have weird body parts to signal they have powers; I. Kyouka chose her own name, had albinism and had a great childhood provided to her and was an eccentric and fun girl.
Four characters had defined designs back then (made using Gacha Club): Meine, his mother, Kyouka and someone who worked as a social assistant-kind of to her. Kyouka’s design was lost but in the brief frame sequel that would originally start the story, were featured Meine's original design as well as a headshot of the secondary character and his mom’s designs.
This was the frame sequence (edited on Ibis Paint X to achieve wanted result):
[]
[]
Final notes: The only named characters back then were Meine and Kyouka.
Final notes: Kyouka was named after a mystery anime I saw back then, named Hyouka. I took liberties with the title, if I remember well. I also remember quitting that anime at episode 6 or so, actually.
Final notes: The story had no name back then (it still doesn’t lol)
Final notes: Meine was named after a movie I saw back then: Meine Frau, ihre Schwiegereltern und ich. I took the “meine” part (which I knew on that time to be german for “mine”, but I hadn’t noticed it was the feminine possessive pronoun. The plan was to have a fictional equivalent of German in this world and Meine’s father would have named him that out of possessive desire) from there.
[End of the transciption.]
i wanted to note everything down so i could like, keep a record. i love keeping record of the process my things go through (like megan's design pipeline which i have yet to draw)
