Alex & Friends Part 26-Deterioration
thanks to @jaydiann and @whumpy-daydreams for helping with the medical stuff
Aaron belongs to @pigeonwhumps
cw: medical whump, intubation, medicinal drug use, general suffering and misery
Joseph watched as the ketamine took hold on Alex and she drifted off. Once Aaron was satisfied that the drugs had worked, he slid his hands under the blanket that was laid over her chest. He couldn’t actually hold her neck because of the collar, so this was the next best option.
He watched as Aaron closed his eyes, then slowly exhaled. She whimpered as the healing started, but it quickly grew into a pained howl. Even though he knew that the drugs would prevent her from remembering it or feeling it, that didn’t make fun to watch. Listening to someone wailing in pain was always going to be uncomfortable. It was worse when you were just watching. At least when you were treating you had something to block it out.
Aaron kept going, face furrowed in concentration. Necks were difficult places to heal, and the spinal cord made it especially agonizing. Most healers wouldn’t heal spinal stuff without pretty strong analgesia, even though it made it harder to. Her screams were half-panting now, and her legs were twitching and kicking with the pain. She slowly started to quiet after Aaron pulled his hands away.
“Alright, let’s get going,” he said as he stretched his fingers out. There was nothing he could do about her chest for the time being, not until they got to the hospital. One of the paramedics went around to the front, and Joseph checked to make sure Alex was secure. The ambulance was carefully backed out of the lot, and they were off.
Alex fully came too several minutes later, accompanied by a wearily mumbled curse. Her eyes flickered around as she searched the back of the ambulance, unable to turn her head. “…oseph?” she murmured quietly.
“I’m right here, Alex.” He leaned forward so that he was more in her line of sight. “How’re you feeling?”
“ ‘s hard to breathe,” she groaned.
“We’re nearly to the hospital.” Joseph said, patting her hand. He looked over at the monitor, and Aaron did the same, turning away from Phoenix to check. She was satting high enough to avoid intubation, and she’d been protecting her airway so far, but it still wasn't great.
Aaron grabbed his stethoscope and carefully rose to standing. “I’m just gonna listen to your chest, okay?” He started to pull the blankets away as he spoke.
Alex whimpered as she tried to draw more air in. There was a hint of panic behind her eyes.
She flinched a little when the cold bell of the stethoscope made contact with her chest. Then, she reached out for Joseph’s hand. He took it, letting her squeeze it while he rubbed his thumb on the back of it.
“We’re gonna take good care of you,” he assured her.
While the look on Aaron’s face remained mostly stoic, Joseph had known him long enough to tell that her lungs hadn’t sounded good. Their eyes flickered to the monitor again. Her saturation had dipped even lower, down to the low nineties.
“How far are we out?” Aaron asked.
Joseph peered out the window. “We’re on the hospital side of the river. What are you thinking?”
“I would prefer CPAP, but HAL has been HAL and our ambulances don’t carry those.” Aaron mentally cursed the damn cheapscapes that ran the alliance.
“RSI?” Joseph suggested.
“Not yet.” He wasn’t happy with her sats, but she was holding for now, and the c-collar would make intubation significantly harder.
Alex’s eyes nervously filtered around, breaths increasingly labored.
“It's alright, I know it’s scary.” Joseph rubbed his thumb on the back of her hand. “Just keep breathing for me.”
Aaron sat back down, but he was still watching his patient like a hawk, eyes moving between her and the monitor.
Joseph kept a hold of her hand, reassuring her with a soft voice. The fear in her eyes was no longer subtle. She mumbled something from behind the mask, but he couldn’t hear it. “What was that?” he asked, leaning in closer.
“ ‘m sorry.” Her voice was whisper quiet, and Joseph pushed certain memories out of his brain.
“You don’t need to be sorry.” He smiled, continuing to brush her hand with his thumb. “We’re taking good care of you, yeah?”
“I-” she gasped for air, eyes growing wide, “-cn’t..mmh..breathe.” Her saturation took a nosedive into the eighties as she tried to heave enough air in. “..elp.”
It didn’t come back up.
Aaron jumped into action. “We’re gonna have to RSI.” He quickly started setting out his supplies. “Tell Cole to pull the ambulance over.”
Alex was obviously distressed now, frantically pounding her arm on the side of the stretcher as she fought to breathe. The vehicle came to a stop while Aaron was drawing up his medications, Joseph helping him set out his supplies.
Joseph spoke to Alex as he worked, explaining what was going to happen. “We’re going to put a tube down your throat to help you breathe easier, okay?” She whimpered, coughing violently. “We’ll give you drugs so you can’t feel it, you’re doing great, just keep breathing for me.” He kept talking to her as Aaron sat down behind her head.
“You ready?” Aaron asked while he started to preoxygenate her. “Any questions?”
Joseph shook his head. “I’ve got 7.5 tube with stylet, laryngoscope with a mac 3, bougie, ket and roc already drawn up, cric kit’s up here just in case.”
“Alright, let’s go.” Aaron said.
“We gotcha, Alex,” Joseph said as he pushed the ket. She was still too panicked to acknowledge it, but the drug took hold, and she slowly started to relax. Her breathing wasn’t great, still, even though she looked less distressed.
Once Alex was out, the procedure commenced quickly from there. He pushed the paralytic next, grabbing his laryngoscope while he waited for it to take effect. Aaron had to use more force than he would’ve liked because of the c-collar, but he was able to visualize what he needed to and get the ET tube in easily enough. Joseph secured the tube while Aaron attached it to the ventilator.
The intubation had helped, and even though her sats were still not great, they were higher then they’d been. The ambulance continued towards the hospital, and Joseph found himself holding her hand again. They turned into the hospital, and Joseph gave it a squeeze before letting go so he could get ready to unload her.
Even though she’d made it to the hospital, she still had a long way to go.

Pep talk : Aaron Hotchner x reader (platonic)
Tumblr media
„Whoa! What’s with the long face, sunshine?”
“Go away, Morgan.”
“Well I can only go as far in this plane….”
“Just leave me be, all right?!”
“Hey, easy there. Someone’s in the mood today. We’ve just cracked a case that should make you feel good.”
“Just drop it, all right!?”
“All right, fine” Derek raised his hands in surrender and walked away from Y/N who was acting erratic. “Don’t bite. But you know…. if something’s bothering you……”
“Ah!” she groaned in frustration and threw her pillow at him. Grave mistake since he swiftly caught It and took it with him. On top of all her feelings and discomfort now she was also forced to lean on the cold window without it. “Freaking profilers!”
“Last time I checked you were one of us!”
The BAU team was flying back to Quantico. Another day, another mystery solved, another lives saved. Yay, hurray.
Yay hurray, right?
So how come Y/n was feeling so under the weather and was stuck inside her own head, consumed by all the bad thoughts? Her mind was going hazy and she was on the highway to a panic attack.
“Hey.” a deep calming voice reverberated from somewhere above her and she raised her head to properly asses who was bold enough to approach her in such mood “May I?” the person pointed towards the seat opposite of her.
“Sure, Hotch.” She muttered, turning her gaze away, watching the clouds outside the plane. If he was here to interrogate her, she was not going to make it easy on him. What she forgot about was that Hotch was far too experienced and patient to get intimidated by her poor technique. Instead of asking her any questions, he was just sitting beside her in complete silence, testing her temper and restraints. And damn it, he was good at pushing the limits.
“All right, fine! I surrender.”
“Really?” Hotch raised an eyebrow
“Who told you? I swear I’m gonna kill Morgan.”
“He did not tell me anything. In fact, he did not tell anyone anything. You seem to be the only person who can actually make him self-conscious.”
“Self-conscious? Morgan? And people say you have no sense of humor, Hotch.” She scoffed, looking anywhere but on his face.
“Y/N.”
“What?’
“Tell me what is going on?”
“Nothing.”
“You do realize you can’t fool me, right? So stop wasting time and just talk.”
“But…..”
“Talk to me.”
“What is wrong with me, Hotch? Why can’t I be like anyone else on the team?” her saddened eyes finally focused on his face. At first glance he showed no emotions, but if someone was looking close enough it was easy to notice so many of them reflecting in his orbs. “I’ve spent half of my life trying to prove that I’m good enough and qualified for the job. And yet, so many people still takes me for granted thinking I just got lucky. I worked my ass off during studying, finishing all those extracurricular, seminars, lectures and yet, I’m still being seen as a little girl who would not last long. Why? Why Hotch?”
“People talk.” He stated simply “And I don’t really know why you care about it so much.”
“You don’t understand it, do you?” she shook her head angrily “You are the Aaron Hotchner, FBI’s very best and on top of that, a lawyer.”
“And you are in my team. You are in my team, because I wanted you to be here. Because I chose you.”
“And I still feel like I’m not enough.  Look at all the girls in the department. Former and present. Elle, Emily, Jennifer. God! I wish had their power and energy. Real girbosses.”
“Now you’re giving away your comparison skills. So sad you’re using it in the wrong purpose.”
“What?”
“Ever since you joined us, you were a mystery. Still are. I cannot fully figure you out, you’re so full of contradictions and inconsistencies.  And believe me, it’s not easy for me to admit it.”
“Oh, I believe that.” She smirked
“Why do you focus on the gossip’s about you?”
“Ugh! Hotch, are we talking about feelings now?”
“Understanding your own emotions is a valid part of this job. You cannot do it well if you cannot contain what’s inside you. You need to be in control of your own mind to try getting into unsub head. So again, why do you care?”
“Cause it hurts.”
“And why is that?”
“Stop being my psychologist here!”
“We’re getting to the bottom of the problem, I’m not letting go. Why?”
“Cause I worry it’s true, all right!”
“Is it?” he eyed her carefully
“I don’t know. You’re the boss here, you assess me so why don’t give away your opinion?”
“Nice try. But you did this again, the same mistake over and over.”
“What mistake?”
“Searching for an external validation. Why?”
“Ok, I’ve had enough of this” she stood up from her seat ready to find more peaceful place, but he grabbed her arm and made her sit back down. “Please, don’t make me say it.”
“I’m not making you do anything, do I?” his calmness was infuriating.
“Not with words.” She squirmed, her seat getting more and more uncomfortable by the second.
“Just say it.”
“I worry that no one needs me here. That I’m no help. But an obstacle. I worry that I’m stupid and useless.”
“We do need you.”
“Right. As if. You know what Morgan told me earlier? He said that we cracked the case, you know. We. Then why the hell do I feel like I was of no help?”
“Are you even hearing yourself?”
“Pretty good.”
“Focus on facts, Y/n. What are the facts? Cause from my point of view, because of your fast thinking, ability to keep cold blood and insight we were able to save two woman from certain death.”
“No. No. No.” she shook her head “that was Reid.”
“Reid connected the dots, but you were the one to find them in the first place.”
“But…..” she tried to oppose
“Yes?” he leaned forward slightly. Damn he was good at what he was doing.
“I rest my case, your honor.” she sighed “I give up.”
“No. We’re not done until we get your self-confidence straight.”
“I’m tired Hotch.” she tried to plead with him but it was futile.
“As you should be. Now, you claim to be weak, but when I look at you I see the person who’s capable of moving mountains when someone’s in danger.  You say you feel stupid, but from my point of view your knowledge is more than the one coming from a textbook. You believe people who say you will not last long, but I’ve seen young agents quit after two or three bloody cases they could not handle. You are nothing of it. And those are the facts.”
“Is it your official opinion as my supervisor?“ she mumbled
“This is my opinion as your mentor. As someone who cares about you and who can see all the potential you are holding back and need to learn how to unlock.”
“Really? You mean it?”
“Like you said, I’m not known for my sense of humor.”
“Maybe we can work on that?” she joked looking at him, but that stone cold expression made her back out immediately “No? all right, let’s leave it here just like that.”
“Get some rest” he stood up and handed her the pillow she lost to Morgan before.
“How did you….?”
“Artifice is something to learn as well. Sleep kid, you’ll have a day full of work tomorrow.”
“You’ll be tormenting me now, won’t you?”
“Obviously. ”
“Hey, Hotch?”
“Hm?”
“Thanks for the pep talk, boss.” she smiled and much to her surprise he reciprocared by lifting corners of his mouth in the slightest, almost invicible curve.

Hi everyone!!! I’m at work right now but my shift ends in like 2 hours I think?? Also I get payed today so yay!!
Anyways; did any of you guys have part time jobs in high school or whatever?
Taeyoung rubs the back of his neck. "I signed with our old agency before I made it to highschool, so I guess in a way 4*Town was my part-time job, but really it was more like working two full time jobs. I'm so glad I don't have to worry about that anymore."
"God, yeah." Robaire nods. "Tae worked super hard, graduated at the same time as the rest of us."
"I mean, when your education gets stripped down to the absolute bare essentials, it's much quicker."
"I didn't work," Aaron Z. says, "I was playing basketball pretty seriously at that point."
"Me too." Robaire adjusts. "Except I just... didn't want to."
Aaron T. raises a playful eyebrow. "That's a surprise."
"I had other things going on!"
"I did some busking for a while, just singing on the streets, making some coin." Aaron T. pretends to brush dust off his shoulder.
Jesse catches his eye. Words go unspoken.
"I worked at Denny's," Jesse eventually admits, "from 16 until I joined the band."
"Denny's?" Taeyoung gapes. "Why didn't I know this?"
"It was horrible, and I loved it." He laughs. "Our rival school's improv group came after a show while I was working, and that place was like a safe haven for all of us to, playfully, hate each other without judgement."
"You should go back and work there again, earn some extra ka-ching so we can retire early," Aaron T. says, "and I wanna see you in the uniform."
"You're what? 22? 23? Why are you thinking about retirement?"
"22."
"I wanna see you in the uniform too." Taeyoung pouts. "You look good a uniform."
Jesse starts to protest, but Robaire cuts in. "You really do."
"Okay, that's enough." He shoos them away. "Thanks for asking."

Yo ask I shall give!!
Robaire as a dad! Poly marriage!
When he found out he was going to be a daddy he was over joyed and happy. He always wanted kids and now it's happening! After seeing and spending time with Ruby and Jesse's twins he is finally ready for a baby of his very own.
He picked Ruby up and kissed her lips "Mon amour I'm so happy!"
He then went on to tell everyone and they were excited as well. Tae young rubbing her forming tummy and kissed it as well as Aaron T.
Jesse pat him on the back "Well looks your on the path of being a dad."
He said as Jessica and Ruben hugged his sides "Are we going to have a brother or sister daddy?"
Asked Ruben "I'm not sure yet little one but when your sibling is born we'll know."
They smiled as they hugged him "Looks like we have to go check on the baby." She said as she held Robaire's hand.
Birth
When Ruby gave birth she was scared but Robaire was there the whole time. She gave birth to a son he was so excited for his baby boy he cried happy tears as he looked at his little boy.
Robaire Daniel Bennett the 2nd
Sign ♓
Birthday: March 21st 2022
Robaire held his baby boy for the first time and was in love with him they bonded almost immediately after he was given to him "I love you so much baby boy daddy's going to love and protect you always."
When they brought him home the twins were excited to meet their little brother who was so cute. They helped with his diapers, bottle, bottle feeding, and everything else that a big brother and sister would do. Ruben loved having a little brother he would always play 4 town songs when he cried and sing to him and as Jessica gave him his bottle 🍼.
"It's ok buddy we're here." Said Jessica
The others were excited too
Aaron T held him and bonded with him quick he loves kids and babies and yes he also wants one but want Ruby to handle the 3 she has first and let her get use to having 3 babies.
He fed him and would let him watch him and Z play video games it was so adorable 😍. He got him a match overalls and hat now they match "Lookin cute and good like your papa T bud." He loves this little guy and Robaire and Ruby have to beg him to give them their son. 🤣
Robaire when it's his turn to feed the baby "T can I have my baby back?"
Aaron T holding him while feeding him his 🍼 and watch TV: "No."
Robaire: "He's my baby."
Aaron T: "Just one more minute please 🥺?"
Robaire: "Ugh fine but I'm doing mid night feeding."
Aaron T: "Yay 😁."
Robaire looking at Jesse while he feeds the twins dinner:😐 "Is he ever going to give me my baby back?"
Jesse: " Not unless you lock him in his room."
Robaire: "Why is he like this? And I'm tired."
Jesse: "Welcome to fatherhood." Pats his back and comfort him.
When Robaire takes Jesse's advice he gets lil Robbie and feeds him as his looks at him holding his finger with his little hands 🥺 "Dada loves you baby boy yes I do."
Robbie as he's called turned 1 and Robaire got him the best gifts.
He loves playing with his brother and sister and playing with his other dads.
Tae young let him play with his stuffed 🧸 animal plushies and his favorite is the bear so he gave it to him as a gift 🎁. "My little Robear." He said holding him.
Aaron Z loves playing with him he loves watching him play with his basketball 🏀 he even picks him up so he can make a basketball "Good job buddy daddy proud of you." He kisses his cheek feeling his fatherly side come in I think this means he wants a child and Tae young is no different.
Robaire plays piano while holding him and Jesse let's him watch him paint or making pottery. He loves watching his dads and mom. When Ruby cooks he will rock back and forth playing with Aaron T, he holds his fingers with his little hands 🥺 and Aaron T melts "Mi bebe." He said in Spanish which little Robbie liked he loves hearing them speaking in their language.
Tae young often spoke Korean so does Aaron Z and he smiles as they talk to him in Korean. Aaron T speaks Mexican to him and he just laugh and smile and Aaron T just lives for it seeing him get excited about it "Mijo!"
He says as he picks him up "Papa's baby boy! I love you 😚 I love you 😚😚."
Ruby love seeing her husbands interact with her new baby and it makes her want to make Aaron T a father too."
Robaire will definitely have matching outfits for them to wear shoes too.
Let's him nap 😴 on his chest while he watch TV and when he's on his phone. Has daddy hearing whenever he hears him sneeze or when he's awake he gets up to him in his crib "Hey bud your up early today."
He loves being a dad to his own kid and he and Jesse loves it having their kids play together and seeing how protective they are over their little brother.
(That's all tune in for more posts if you like please follow for more posts!)

Pointnorth BACC... introduction?
I have no idea what I'm doing but I meant to make this kind of post earlier so! Here we go.
I'm using a mash up of rules and some of my own little ideas here and there. Pointnorth is a fishing town and as such, in the beginning everyone is only allowed to have a low level job in the fishing industry (custom career) And then they can unlock careers and buildings later on.
So far it means none of my sims have alot of money and earning money for community lots is VERY slow which is fine by me! More challenge.
Tumblr media
The Mayor: Jess Warwick. Initially at the lowest level until she befriended enough of the founders... which she did, easily. I think she's best friends with them all at this point! Popularity sims + Outgoing = Powerful. I like her a lot because she's very friendly and gets along with everyone great.
She's a lesbian and had a crush on the ever-sought after Zoe Bathory, but recently hooked up with a cute townie girl so she's got a love life to look forward to
Tumblr media
The Smith brothers. Me realizing that I don't take as much pictures as I think I do.
Glasses is Wade, brown shirt is Hector. Wade is a knowledge sim whose pretty outgoing and friendly. Very sweet and loves reading & writing. Hector is the athetlic jock sim who at first was not well liked. I don't think he's that liked, still, despite being a popularity sim. Probably because when he plays catch or soccerr, he hits too hard.
Wade's in a cute relationship with another founder, Beth Owen. Hector's invovled in the Bathory situation. Very mixed feelings, as he flirts with her but rejects any thing more intense.
Tumblr media
Beth Owen. Very tired, also me too girl. She's the poorest right now, didn't have enough to even pay her taxes. She likes art and painting and spends most of her time at the park (Well, everyone's hanging out at that park... I restrict what they can buy, 1 item per round, so if they want to do anything fun they go to the park) and fishing for extra income. She's very in love with Wade, but doesn't get along with Hector. She was also Jess' first friend, so I see them as being very close :>
Tumblr media
Bathory siblings. They started off with the most amount of money and contuine to be the richest, despite that only Tucker works. Zoe's a knowledge sim and I let her persue all her skilling, especially because I want science or medicine unlocked soon haha.
But she's so caught up in love drama?! Somehow? Her secondary is fortune... come on girl. She's going steady with Aaron Noble but I constantly see her canoodling with Hector on the park. And now with the introduction of new townies, she's getting spicy with them too! Poor Aaron.
Tucker's my fave. He's extremely playful, so he's always pulling pranks or playing around or being goofy. I gave him a pleasure secondary and now he's just a delight. I see him being a bit mentally childish and his sister takes care of him and is very protective. She was his only friend in the beginning when he pissed off the rests of the town. But now he's friends with everyone! He's like the loveable town foll ^o^
Tumblr media
And then Aaron Noble. Ah, my poor boy. Works really hard and is nice to everyone but is absolutely getting played by Zoe. At first he was pretty lonesome, not alot of people paid attention to him but he's rising in popularity now. He's best friends with Tucker and they're ALWAYS hanging out, like, Always coming back with each other from work. Tucker likes to convince him to pull pranks, haha. He's shy and reserved, so i find their friendship to be adorable.
That's it for the founders. I wanna try to post more as the rounds go on (I'm nearing a full in-game year! Yay!) but I'm bad at remembering and my game's ugly as hell so XD
I'm def h aving the most fun i've had a while in this game :D What a great idea to give a BACC another try. I'm excited to see where it goes ^o^

WORDS: 1193
Tumblr media
“Yay, you’re up!” Katie cheered as she bounced into the hospital room, followed closely by Elizabeth and Aaron.
“Hey, James is back at the house keeping an eye on things,” Aaron announced. “How are you all doing?”
“Well little girl has baby PTSD from the whole event,” I told him in a gentle voice, handing over little girl for some cuddle time with daddy. “She starts screaming whenever Peter isn’t in easy sight. A child phycologist came in earlier this morning to observe her and gave us the diagnosis. I can have her come in and talk to you if you want-”
“Yes please,” Aaron cut me off, giving our daughter a fatherly kiss to her temple. “I am so sorry Vanessa Rose Pickings.”
“Daddy? Papa Pete fell!” she meeped out, snuggling herself in deeper to his arms.
“Oh, I heard he fell and got a booboo,” Aaron cooed, watching as the girls clambered up onto the bed with sharpie markers in hand and began drawing on their father’s cast.
“Doo mee! Doo mee!” Baby Tommy ordered the girls, thrusting out his little cast for them to draw on and erupting into gleeful cackles when they did as he commanded them to do.
“Sweet Baby Tommy!” Elizabeth cooed as she drew a flower onto the little man’s cast.
“Excuse me, Mrs. Ratajczyk? May I have a word with you?”
I lifted my head up and smiled at the child phycologist, who had finished talking to Aaron and was now waiting for me out in the hallway.
“While I was observing Vanessa Rose, I couldn’t help but notice that your son- Thomas Joseph?- didn’t seem to react whenever his name was said and that he also making avoid eye contact with me,” she started off with.
“Oh, I never noticed really.” I didn’t sugarcoat anything, opting to be honest. “To be honest with you, the family encourages the babies to meet their developmental goals more so then what society deems as being acceptable goals.”
“Well, I think that Thomas Joseph-” she started to say only to be cut off by a scowl from me.
“Baby Tommy,” I corrected her. “Thomas Jospeh’s name is Baby Tommy. Everyone we meet calls him Baby Tommy.”
“Understood.” She flashed me an icy smile. “I think that Baby Tommy may be autistic; I’m pinpointing him as having Aspergers.”
“Oh.” I blinked a few times, wondering what now? “Do you think that he’ll need an IEP for school?”
“It’s frankly too early to tell,” she told me, hugging her clipboard tight to her chest.
“Well, what do you recommend we do next?” I asked her, leaning back into the wall. “I need to tell Peter-”
“How do you think he would react?” the doctor asked me.
“Well, I do know for a fact that he will love Baby Tommy all the more,” I told her with a frown. “Why do you ask? How do you think he would react to such news?”
The look in her eyes was all the answer that in needed.
“Yes, my husband and I were born generations apart, but that doesn’t bother either of us,” I seethed. “He will never lay hand on the kids or me. You can trust my word when I say that. Peter Thomas Ratajczyk will fight for our kids.”
“Mmm hmm…” The Doctor didn’t look all the way convinced as I grabbed her and dragged her into the room.
“My love, Baby Tommy may be on the spectrum,” I told Peter flat out. “The doctor here didn’t want to tell you because she thinks that you’d abuse him.”
“Baby Tommy, is your mind different?” Peter picked up our son with his hand underneath him and raised him so that father and son were looking into each other’s eyes. “Is your problem solving out of the box?”
Baby Tommy just let out a violent sneeze before erupting into giggles as Peter’s head jerked back and he brought his other hand up to rub the baby snot out of his eyes and settled Baby Tommy back onto his naked chest.
Little girl crawled up, joining her little brother as she cuddled up next to him and wrapped her little arm tightly around him.
“Here my love!” I laughed as I handed him a box of hospital standard cheap tissues and chuckled as Elizabeth and Katie still drawing on their father’s cast. “Do you want me to take the babies?”
“Oh no sweetheart- I’m good!” he chuckled as he wiped at his tearing eyes. “Baby Tommy has some toxic snot!”
“And toxic farts!” Katie added in, setting down her blue marker and grabbing a pink one. “We cannot forget the toxic farts!”
“Don’t encourage him!” my husband scolded her. “I can’t move away should Baby Tommy let one rip!”
 POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT
“Peter!” I squealed as the foul odor overtook much of the room. “Don’t encourage him!”
Little girl started crying, leaving her father to rush over and carry her out of the room. The girls jumped off of their father’s bed and raced over to open the window and try to air the room out.
“Here!” I lobbed Baby Tommy at the startled child phycologist before hurriedly setting up a baby changing station. I held out my hand for him to be handed back to me and she literally hurled him into my arms right before rushing off, her face a bright green color.
“Baby Tommy, Baby Tommy, little chubby tummy,” I sang as I wiped him clean. “Baby Tommy, Baby Tommy, kiss kiss kiss!”
“Kissies!” gurgled the happy boy, holding his arms up as I finished, picking him up and holding him up over me before pressing loving kisses to his face.
“KISS KISS KISS!” he happily chanted, breaking out into fresh giggles. “KISS KISS KISS!”
“Can I get kisses from my woman now?” Peter whined, relenting when I pressed a chaste kiss to his cheek before beginning to pull away. “I demand real kisses now.”
I smiled as I gave into my husband’s desired, already knowing that the moment we got back home again, he would fucking ruin me black and blue.

[Previous Part] [Series Masterlist]
Tumblr media
Washington, D.C., 2011
(Reader POV)
You’d gone to three different funerals since moving to D.C. Three more than you would have liked, obviously, no one ever really wants to go to a funeral.
The first had been your father’s. You had Jamie and your mom, but you needed Spencer. He was out on a case and you couldn’t blame him for not being there, but he made up for it a million times over. Your dad’s death wasn’t unexpected, and while it hurt to say goodbye, it was relatively easy to move on.
The second had been for Aaron’s ex-wife, Haley. You didn’t really know her, but Aaron was your friend and you wanted to support him. That and Jamie got along very well with Jack, acting almost as an older cousin, and you know how important family is when you lose a parent.
The third and most recent funeral was the worst one: Emily’s. She was there one day, raring to go and take on the world, gone the next.
The day you found out was just terrible. JJ had called you herself to tell you. You managed to stay calm until you hung up, when you practically threw your phone onto the kitchen table and collapsed into a chair, tears pouring down your face as silent sobs wracked your body.
Jamie ran in at the sound of you crying, “Mom? What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
You shook your head, unable to speak. Jamie wordlessly wrapped his arms around your shoulders and held you as you struggled to regain your voice. When you could finally breathe and relay the news you just received, you choked out, “Aunt Emily died last night.”
Then Jamie started crying too. He curled up into your shoulder and sobbed into your shirt, soaking you to the skin, almost like he was little again. You crumbled at the sound of his whines and cries. Every part of your chest ached with the weight of your grief.
“What happened to her?” He finally whimpered.
“She has a dangerous job,” You didn’t even notice the tense you used, “A bad man was after her.”
“Well, is everyone else okay? What about Uncle Derek? What about Doc—”
“Everyone else is fine, baby, no one else was hurt. Doc’s fine.”
You sat still for God knows how long, silent, clutching each other like a lifeline, praying this was all just a dream and that you’d get a call from Emily telling you it was all some sick joke. Of course, you’d be furious with JJ, but at least there wouldn’t be a hole in your family where Emily had once been.
Your mother came over to help you cook, the same role you had taken years prior while your father was sick. She consoled you and Jamie for the next two days and then drove you to the funeral. You got out of the car and walked in silence to the church, clutching Jamie’s hand as you entered.
Aaron was the first at the door. He wasn’t one for hugs, but when he saw you, exhausted and barely standing, he pulled you and Jamie in tight. The hug was brief, but it helped, God, did it help. Dave was just behind him, and he didn’t hesitate. He ruffled Jamie’s hair and gave you a kiss on both cheeks. JJ was holding Henry in the corner, and Will gave you a weak smile. Derek and Penelope were holding one another, both shaking as they cried. Your grip on Jamie’s hand grew tighter, tighter, tighter until you saw him.
You then dropped Jamie’s hand as you ran over, arms open wide as your son followed close behind, “Spence--”
He returned your hug instantly, burying his face in your hair, “I’m sorry I didn’t call--”
You felt Jamie join the hug, but you kept your head buried in Spencer’s chest, “No, I’m sorry too, I didn’t know what to do.”
“Me neither.” He pulled away, wiping away some tears and sniffling, “I’ve just been holed up in my room reading Vonnegut all for the past three days.”
Of course, “What books?”
“Mostly Slaughterhouse-Five, it was her--”
“Her favorite,” You nodded as you spoke the last part in unison with him.
“Yeah. I read it out loud just…” His voice cracked and the words looked painful to get out, “Just in case she could hear me.”
Your heart broke imagining him wrapped in blankets, eyes rimmed red as they glazed over the worn-out pages. You ached at the thought of his voice cracking just as it did before as he read for hours and hours, begging the universe to let Emily hear him, “She did. And she loved it.”
“I just hope she didn’t realize I was crying,” he muttered, and it shattered you, “She wouldn’t want us to cry for her.”
“You’re right, but I know she’d be unbelievably offended if we didn’t cry just a little bit,” Spencer’s tearful smile was enough to make you feel slightly better. There was still hope.
Your mom took Jamie home after the wake, knowing that you needed time with the team to feel like a person again. You went home with Spencer. He shouldn’t have to be alone anymore.
“You’re really good at taking care of me,” he smiled weakly, sipping the tea you made for him.
“Yeah, I had a good teacher.” Your mother was always there when you lost someone. You had your ups and downs, but she was a good mom.
“Does it get easier? Losing someone?”
“No. It always hurts just as bad,” you sigh, “But moving on used to be a lot harder.”
“Do you still miss him?”
“Of course I do, but less than I used to.” You still talked to your dad sometimes, something you did as a kid when he wasn’t home, just telling him about your day or narrating what you were doing. Even after all these years, you still found yourself explaining to no one that you had to run to store and buy bread to make Jamie’s lunch.
“I see little pieces of him everywhere I go. Jamie has the same exact smile. His favorite book when he was little was the same one my dad read to me. No one ever really leaves. Family, friends, they stick with us.”
“I’ve never lost a friend before. When Gideon left, I knew he was out there. Same with Elle. I could have Garcia find them right now and call them up to see how they’re doing, but Emily--” his voice cracked too much for him to want to continue, so he dropped it altogether.
“Did I ever tell you about my college roommate, Juliet?”
“No.”
“We were best friends. We did everything together: Movie nights, parties, all that. The night of our last final senior year, we decided to go clubbing to celebrate.”
You told him the whole story. The drinking, the dancing, the guy. You don’t remember his name, but you remember trusting him. He was sweet and Juliet liked him, so when she came to you at the bar after dancing with him telling you she was going home with him, you let her.
“I was happy for her! She had just gone through a breakup a few months before, so it was nice to see her getting some,” you let out a weak laugh, “I remember the last thing I said before she left was ‘Okay, have fun, call me in the morning, we’ll get brunch. I love you.’” Spencer winced, almost as if he knew where this story was going. Given his line of work, he was expecting far worse, but he at least knew that we didn’t get lunch the next morning.
“I went home a little bit later, I got bored, so I got a taxi home.”
You close your eyes and sigh deeply, “I’m in the back seat when I get a call. It was Juliet’s phone.”
“She wasn’t calling you, was she?”
“No, it was the police. Juliet didn’t have a good relationship with her parents, so I was her emergency contact.” You had to plan the funeral, invite her parents, look them in the eye and lie to them that Juliet wanted to make amends with them. The horrified guilt on their faces almost made it worth it, “The car she was in got t-boned when the guy ran a red light. He wasn’t as sober as we thought he was.”
“She didn’t make it.” Spencer guessed for you.
“No. She was dead before they got her out of the ambulance.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. If Juliet hadn’t…” You still couldn’t bring yourself to actually say it, “I wouldn’t have moved home, I wouldn’t have gotten back with Kyle, and I wouldn’t have Jamie. I don’t wanna tell you that something good will come out of this, because that’s a horrible thing to hear, but looking for an opportunity to find something good can’t hurt.”
“I can’t just look for something new when all i can think about is how I should have been able to help!”
“You really think I didn’t blame myself for what happened to Juliet? That every night for years after I thought I could have done something differently, and sure, I could have, but it’s not like I knew what was going to happen, and I couldn’t keep blaming myself.”
“It’s not the same, you don’t get it.” His fingers ghosted over old scars on his forearms, scars you didn’t want to think about where they came from.
“I do, Spencer. Emily was my friend too. And because she was my friend, I know she would never let you blame yourself for it. She knows you can’t save them all. All we can do is save ourselves,” you took his hand in yours, he still tensed up, “‘cuz that’s all the people we lose want us to do.”
He turned his head up from the floor and met your eyes. Once you gazed into those deep hazel irises, the tension in his hand melted away. His shoulders slumped, and he let out a deep breath, squeezing your hand like a lifeline, “Thank you.”
“Of course, Spence.”
“I’m sorry for snapping.”
“You apologize too much.” You had nearly forgotten exactly what he said to you that night in the hotel bar in Vegas all those years ago, but clearly, he hadn’t, he couldn’t, and he didn’t, because after a few moments of staring into your eyes and slowly drifting towards you in peaceful silence, he closed the gap between you both and kissed you.
Spencer Reid was kissing you.
This was happening.
Nearly two decades of being friends--
Years of being totally, ridiculously, and most importantly, cluelessly in love with each other, Spencer Reid was kissing you. You were almost so overjoyed at that moment as you started to kiss him back that you nearly forgot that your friend was dead and you were supposed to be comforting him. This wasn’t comfort, this was what Kyle did to you all those years ago.
You broke the kiss before he did something he’d regret, “Spence…”
“Oh my god,” he removed his hands from your face and shifted his entire body away from you, “I’m so sorry.”
“No, don’t-”
“Oh my god, I’m an idiot!” He ran his fingers through his hair, pulling at the strands as his hands landed at the back of his neck, forcing his head to stare in his lap.
“No you’re not! Hey. Genius. Look at me.” He didn’t. “You’re not. You’re just in a bad place, I get it.”
“No you don’t. This time, you don’t.”
“What do you m—”
“Look, I don’t wanna kick you out but I really think you should leave.”
“Oh… yeah… sure… okay.” You slowly rose from the couch on weak knees. Whether it was from adrenaline or anxiety, you couldn’t tell.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be! Just… please, take care of yourself?” You glance around the room for your belongings, “Shower, eat something, get some rest, please. And call me if you need anything--”
“Y/N, please, just go.”
You felt tears sting your eyes as you reached for the doorknob. You turned your head just enough to look over your shoulder to say, “Goodnight, pretty boy,” before you left. You closed the door behind you and leaned against it, breathing heavily.
           (Spencer’s POV)
Why was I kicking her out?
Why was I telling her to leave?
Why was I pushing her away?
Why did I kiss her?
Why did she push me away?
Why did she call me “pretty boy?” She never--
The pieces fell into place as they often do, all at once with the force of a car slamming into a pole at fifty miles per hour.
“Goodnight, Pretty Boy.”
“Goodnight, Princess.”
She remembered that night.
She remembered that night when I drove her home and put her to bed and--
And I told her I had a crush on her in high school.
And I almost said I loved her.
And I almost kissed her then.
God, I wish I had. Any time would have been better than now.
          (Reader POV)
You didn’t know you could miss someone so much while they were behind just one door. You could’ve turned around right then and knocked and waited for him to be ready to talk about what just happened. About him kissing you. About you kissing back. About you stopping him. About that drunken night when you let it slip how pretty you thought he was.
You should’ve just waited.
But you couldn’t stand to be that close to him while he wanted to be as far away from you as possible.
So you ran.
You practically sprinted down the stairs and out of his building as quickly as you could, getting in your car and pulling out of the parking lot and getting the fuck away before you hurt anyone else, including yourself.
          (Spencer POV)
I couldn’t just let her walk out like that.
I had to say something.
I had to go after her.
I had to get her back.
I needed her.
But when I opened the door, it was like she had never been there.
I leaned on my door frame staring at the staircase down the hall, wishing I had the energy to run after her, to catch her before she reached her car, to stop her from driving away, to tell her I was sorry, to beg her to please, please, come back upstairs and talk to me, but my feet were fixed to the floor and my legs were weak. I just closed my door with my back and slid down to the floor, unable to bring myself to cry anymore. I sat there for god knows how long until I found the energy to crawl over to the coffee table where I had left my phone, picked it up, and dialed a number.
          (Reader POV)
You jumped slightly at the sound of your phone ringing, you shuffled through your bag in the passenger seat, desperately trying to find it before the light turned green. Some foolish part of your mind told you it was Spencer, you wished it was Spencer, you wanted nothing more than to turn your car around and talk it all out with him, tell him you were sorry, that you loved him, that you needed him, but your heart sank when you looked at the screen and saw the number.
It was a just fucking spam call.
You threw your phone back in your seat and beat your fists against the steering wheel, groaning and wishing the fucking light would just turn green already. When it finally did, you slammed on the gas a bit too quickly, sending the car jolting forward. You barely stopped the entire rest of the ride home, the universe must have sensed your impatience. As you finally pulled into your driveway, your skull felt as though it was packed with cotton, your tear tracks drying on your cheeks.
You raced up the steps to your door, fussing with the keys and trying to unlock the door as quickly and quietly as possible. You inevitably made noise as you entered, prompting a light to turn on in the living room. Your mom rose from the couch she had been sleeping on, her face dropping from annoyed to concerned.
“Toots, you’re home already? I thought you wouldn’t be back until morning.”
You had thought that you were fresh out of tears, but apparently, you still had more to spare, seeing as you broke the second the words left her mouth.
“Oh my, what happened?” She raced towards you, wrapping you in a hug, “Is Spencer okay? Did something happen?”
As confused and sad as you were, you couldn’t stop the smile that had suddenly appeared on your face, “He kissed me.”
“He what?” She broke the hug, holding your face in her hands and wiping tears off of your cheeks, “Then honey, why on Earth are you here?”
          (Spencer POV)
“You kicked her out? Why?”
“Why do you think I called you, Jennifer? What do I do? How do I fix this?”
“Well, what exactly happened?”
“I freaked out, she came over, we talked, I,” I took a deep breath and braced myself for her reaction, “I kissed her—”
She almost choked on her coffee, “And you didn’t lead with that? Don’t you think that’s a little important?”
“I was trying to avoid reliving it for as long as possible.”
“You’ve wanted this since high school, why wouldn’t you want to relive it?”
“She pulled away.” There was no anger or sadness behind my words. I don’t sound hurt as I recount the scene, “She took my hand, I kissed her, she stopped me.”
JJ’s hand brushed over my shoulder and I flinched away slightly.
“I apologized immediately, she wasn't mad or anything, I just…” I trailed off, unable to admit that I just couldn’t look at her anymore. I never thought I’d get tired of seeing her face, but I had needed her to leave. When she pulled away, all I could think about was the sound of Alexa Lisbon sneering at me as Kyle and his goons tied me to that goal post.
“She wanted to help me, and I know she did, but…”
“She couldn’t.” JJ finished my sentence.
I shook my head, “Not this time.”
“But now you want her to come back?”
“And I don’t know how to tell her that because I fucked up.”
“What did she say after you told her to leave? Did she just go?”
          (Reader POV)
“I told him not to feel bad and to take care of himself.” You hadn’t had time to tell him how much you wanted to kiss him but neither one of you was in the right state of mind for that.
“Right, yeah, and did he say anything else?”
You winced at the memory of how his voice sounded. “He kept telling me to leave, so I just went for the door and said--”
          (Spencer POV)
“‘Goodnight, pretty boy,’” I grumbled, “That was the last thing she said.”
“Okay?”
“She never calls me Pretty Boy.” I told her the whole story. When I was done, her eyebrows were drawn together and lips were pressed together in a thin, worried line uttering, “Spence…”
“What?”
She sighed, saying nothing and smirking slightly to herself, but saying nothing.
“Jennifer.”
“She loves you, genius.”
“Then why’d she leave?”
“Because you told her to. And…” she hesitated, almost scared to say anything else. I was scared to hear it. JJ took my coffee away and dumped it down the sink, a silent indicator that I had enough and needed to go to bed.
She turned back to me and leaned over the table again, making sure I'd look her in the eyes, “She’d do anything for you.”
I just stared down on my hands on the table, unable to say another word, unable to defend myself, unable to fight anymore.
Because I knew she was right.

sorry this was delayed!! something happened irl
i actually had to rewatch certain scenes of s3 bcuz my brain blocked them due to trauma
anyways enjoy
STUFF I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT MYSTREET SEASON 3:
• ok first why does half the cast mentally regress into children?? This is extremely evident with Aphmau and Zane. Aphmau turns into a LITERAL CHILD and Zane becomes some angsty emo bratty teen. the only people who are not children are laurance lucinda katelyn and to some extent garroth
• oh wow zianna carrying the whole season on her back offering THE ENTIRE DAMN STREET. wow the Ro’meaves really care about their friends. If the Ro’meaves have so much money why do they even send their kids to pdh why can’t they go to O’Khasis prep they’re literally drowning in cash I was just ranting about this on another blog :)
• i get it this is a slice of life kinda season and it’s mainly centered around comedy but can we still see a bit of character building here like people like Dante and kc and Zane and like three fourth of the cast are severely lacking
• where do Dante and Travis even work?? I know that huge two story house isn’t cheap how do they make all that cash. Can we know what their jobs are since they don’t work at the maid cafe
• I REALLY don’t like that Zane is pretty much only shown with ponies here throughout this season. I’ve said this so many times now. HE HAS MORE CHARACTER THAN THAT. You CANNOT seriously tell me that the defining point of his character is ponies and mlh
• in the series before s3 (I think it was called the bigger move??) we get to see zianna talk about the Ro’meave family business and how Zane has always been more inclined towards it. It would’ve been nice to see it expanded on a bit more in this season considering it’s a huge company and garroth is (probably) set to inherit it and probably needs to like attend meetings or something as practice. and cue the brother angst
• is it really ok for Lucinda to constantly teleport inside people’s houses isn’t that kinda trespassing (I’ll make a post on the magic system here later!!)
• The sk’s are the ONLY people who have their shit together they have like the only decent character development arc. Gene shouldn’t have had a crush on Aphmau after all this time tho. That kinda ruins it
• WHY IS GARRANCE QUEERBAIT
• no seriously why
• WHERE IS VYLAD where did he go
• so many characters like Nicole, kenmur and Emmalyn are never seen again this is sad
• I don’t like how Aaron and Aphmau pretty much stop developing as individual characters and start developing as aarmau from this season. am I the only one who feels this way??
• not that important but
• some of the proportions for the items were WAY off. those cheeseburgers are literally the size of Aphmau‘s head and some objects are bigger (idk if this was intentional)
• why will Zane literally obey Aphmau like she’s god (which she technically is but he doesn’t know that yet) I get it their friends but let him have a bit of a backbone
• ok NO HATE TO THE VA but what is Ivan’s voice. once again no hate. but seriously
• why is every side character so generic looking?? the main cast have so many mods and add ons but they need it more DESPERATELY
• I mean just LOOK at the two dudes next to Ivan
• would it really have taken that long to at least make them not so generic
• also why do those two dudes next to Ivan like never speak why’s he got two mute dudes following him like he’s the boss
• show the sk’s more you cowards
• SHOW THEM
• yay Gene :) Gene hugging Dante is one of the best moments in this season HANDS DOWN
• once again kc’s character gets tossed aside. we don’t really learn anything new about her this season aside from the fact that she cannot be serious but we already knew that. it’s been three seasons and we pretty much know the same things we did in s1
• also can we know a bit more about some of these characters in general? Like Dante, Travis, kc and Zane. hobbies and interests?? Things unique to them?? some of these characters still don’t have many unique traits and they need them
• aarmau breakup was literally because ivan splashed a cat potion in the maid cafe and Aphmau (somehow) asks Aaron if he did it. and bcuz Aaron saw a pic of Zane hugging Aph beforehand (which even friends can do) he got mad at the whole thing and just left. I’m sorry what was going on here. Did this really warrant going back to your parents house?? Reason seems stupid to me. also I don’t like how LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE helps aph with her breakup since she’s in denial but what does she do?? Like nothing. girl pls. After the moms get involved it gets pretty straightforward. I mean they basically fetch him from his parents and bring him back. also wow Aaron’s parents SUCK. Cmon even ZANE got some development there you mean to tell me that the protag didn’t even DO ANYTHING. The person who was supposed to get the most development out of this breakup didn’t get any at all. then what was the point of a breakup if Aphmau didn’t learn anything from it??
ya so this is it that’s all that’s coming to me rn
once again sorry it’s kinda late stuffs been going on irl and I’m trying to deal with it
thanks for reading!! <3 <3

Jay Wasley x Reader
Y/N
It had taken longer than you would have liked, but you’d finally found your dream apartment in Vegas. After spending the last two years travelling around Europe never staying in a place longer than two weeks it would be nice not living out of a suitcase and finally being able to call a place home. You’d told your work that you’d like to be located more stateside and they agreed because of how much hard work you put into assignments.
You were a paranormal photographer for a paranormal magazine, who travelled to haunted locations around the world, took photos and learnt the history of the location and hauntings which were then put into the articles within the magazine that potential investigators could look at and decide if they wanted to check the place out. It was great being able to put your degree to good use, being a history graduate meant your articles were more accurate and interesting than others. The job also allowed you to pursue your love of photography, not many people got their dream job.
The first couple of weeks in the apartment felt fine, little things happened but you put it down to that fact this was the longest you’d stayed somewhere so your body and mind were adjusting to the change. It was an old building so there was going to be the odd draft and cold spot the heating didn’t quite reach, but Vegas was going through a heatwave and certain areas of your apartment felt like you were walking into a freezer when you should have been sweating. Most people who thought they might be haunted would have been more concerned, but you had enough practice to know how to keep calm. So you go out and buy some cameras which you place around your apartment hoping to catch anything, and if the results came back negative you were overthinking cold spots.
A job in Texas took you out of Vegas for a week, and even though you could monitor the cameras from your tablet, work was a lot to handle so you put your apartment to the back of your mind. However upon returning the atmosphere in the apartment felt wrong from the second you stepped over the threshold, maybe being in a haunted building in Texas had heightened your senses. You walk into your makeshift office and log into the security system and sit back in your desk chair not quite sure what you were going to capture.
‘What the hell?’ you gasp loudly, sitting forward in the chair, staring wide-eyed at the screen.
You were checking out the camera in the hallway and after some rewinding, there was a very clear apparition floating up and down the hallway, however, you couldn’t see any facial features or clothes like most people assumed you could when seeing an apparition. This was only the first camera and the volume wasn’t even turned on. You needed to reach out to an old friend and hope he could help.
JAY
I’d just gotten back from a draining investigation when my phone pings with a message from an old friend. y/n and I went back years, their work actually helped Ghost Adventures choose a few locations to investigate where we got our best activity. We’d met at an event and hit it off, but I hadn’t seen them since they moved to Vegas due to both our jobs getting in the way. I open the message.
Y/N: Hi Jay, I need your help. My new apartment is haunted, I caught this on one of my cameras.
Attached to the message was a video, and when I squinted at the phone screen my eyes widen seeing an apparition floating down a hallway I assumed was in y/n’s apartment. Only y/n would go and get themselves a haunted home.
JAY: I’ll bring over some equipment, send me your address...this is one way to catch up
Y/N: Thanks Jay, I’ll buy you a coffee or two when it’s all over.
y/n also sends me their address and I grab my laptop which had a program I could check out any audio on, along with some equipment I needed to return to Zak but y/n was more important right now. I guess I could sleep once I knew y/n was okay.
TIMESKIP
I buzz y/n’s apartment number and the front door opens, the fact that y/n didn’t greet me or even ask who it was concerned me. I take the lift up to the second floor and quickly find y/n’s apartment which was in the corner of the building. I try the front door and it opens, this really wasn’t a good sign.
‘Err y/n, It’s Jay,’ I call out, entering the apartment.
Vegas was in a heatwave but y/n’s apartment was ice cold.
‘Jay,’ y/n says to my right, making me jump.
I hold my heart, ‘at least wait until I check out your footage before giving me a heart attack.’
y/n smiles and motions for me to follow them, ‘sorry, I’m too engrossed in the footage. There is something on each camera Jay, I think it’s the same apparition as the height matches, one spirit I can handle.’
I shake my head and follow y/n into an office. y/n points at her own computer, ‘feel free to do your thing, Jay. Can I get you a coffee?’
I nod, ‘a coffee would be great.’
y/n leaves the office and I get set up, putting my laptop down on the desk and fire it up so I can access my audio program, ‘y/n, do you know the history of this place?’ I shout.
‘Give me a second Jay,’ y/n shouts back, ‘it’s very interesting.’
I roll my eyes at how calm y/n was being. Then again with what they did for a living y/n had learnt to toughen up. I isolate the audio from the cameras and send it over to my laptop just as y/n returns holding two cups of coffee.
‘This place was built to help with the Influenza pandemic from 1918 to 1919, a lot of people died here. It then was empty for eleven years before being transformed into an asylum that didn’t have the cleanest bill of health when it came to looking after patients. It shut down before opening as an orphanage between 1940 and 1965, a handful of child deaths were reported but a lot of abuse took place here. It was then empty for fifteen years before being transitioned into a retirement home until 1990, no deaths recorded but doctors and residents didn’t feel comfortable being in the building. And then finally after binge empty for twenty-five years, it opened as apartments in 2015, and now you’re up to date Jay.’
I chuckle, ‘there really is no stopping you y/n, you like the details. I’m running the audio from the hallway camera, my program should be able to isolate anything.’
y/n comes to stand next to me and I take the coffee they offer, ‘a place with that much history of disease, death and abuse is bound to trap spirits and probably not the friendliest.’
I had to agree with y/n. Then my program tells me it’s done running analysis and y/n crouches down to be closer to the laptop so I press play and turn the volume up as loud as it would go. There is nothing for a good few minutes, then a raspy male voice comes through muttering y/n’s name before going silent once more. y/n was so engrossed in the recording when most people would freak out at such clear audio evidence. We continue to listen when after a couple of minutes the raspy voice starts muttering ‘die’, before adding y/n’s name into the mix pretty much repeating ‘die y/n’ over and over again.
y/n clicks their tongue, ‘well that’s new Jay.’
I stop the recording and clear my throat, ‘I’m going, to be honest with you y/n, that doesn’t sound friendly, especially telling you to die in your own apartment.’
y/n looks up at me and shakes their head, ‘I’m not going anywhere this place is a dream and the rents are cheap. I have you to help me right Jay? You’ll help me out with this.’
I run my fingers through my hair and sigh loudly, ‘I forgot how stubborn you are y/n. Fine, I’ll help, but I’d like to get the others in on this, that way we can communicate with the spirit better. Do you agree?’
y/n stands up and claps their hands together, ‘yay, call them Jay. Now I’m going to order us some food because I want all this footage checked out.’
Once y/n had their heart set on something there was no changing their mind. Maybe, Zak, Aaron and Billy could convince her that this apartment might not be safe. But for now, it looked like I wasn’t going anywhere, and I felt better being able to keep an eye on y/n in case they did something impulsive that annoyed the spirit unintentionally. The guys made fun of me because I had a small crush on y/n and hadn’t acted on it despite us both being single and cool around one another. Maybe this spirit could bring us closer, maybe I could man up and confess my feelings one day.

TV | The Good Fight (503)
503: AND THE COURT HAD A CLERK...
D: TYNE RAFAELI. W: WILLIAM FINKELSTEIN. Original Air Date: 08 July 2021.
Non-spoiler-free recap and review of episode three of CBS' THE GOOD FIGHT (2017-) season five.
Tumblr media
RECAP
Thanks to her success with Rivi, Carmen is personally chosen as representation by another high-profile client, Craig Wolfe-Coleman, an accused rapist. DAVID LEE (ZACH GRENIER), who is currently in charge of STR Laurie which Reddick & Lockhart is a subsidiary of, is at first confused about the demand for Carmen but is quick to recognise a profit to be made.
While Carmen is busy taking on this new client, Marissa is left to deal with menial paperwork older associates deem to be below them. Frustrated with being ignored and being denied actually valuable work, Marissa finds herself returning to Judge Wackner's copy-shop court 9 3/4. Wackner is delighted to see her and, after aiding him in deciding on a case about fanfiction copyright, offers her a job as a law clerk with him. Unsure at first -- because this is, after all, not a real court -- Marissa eventually accepts the offer.
Marissa's career at Wackner's court is seemingly cut short after Diane discovers what she is doing, because a client sent her hundreds of Build-A-Bears after she helped them. Diane doesn't want Marissa's activities to get the firm in trouble, so she tells her if she wants to keep working at R&L she needs to stop going to Wackner's court. However, Wackner seeks out Diane and decides to hire the firm for their consultation services -- thus effectively hiring Marissa in a more official manner which is acceptable to Diane.
At the same time, Diane is dealing with a personal matter as well. Her husband KURT (GARY COLE) discovers that he recognises one of the people on the FBI's wanted poster regarding the Capital riots of January 06. Finding out about this, Diane asks him about it, but he refuses to name names. However, with what he discloses and Jay's investigatory talent, Diane eventually has a name and decides to anonymously report it.
FBI's MADELINE STARKEY (JANE LYNCH) investigates the report and visits Kurt at his job to ask him about the names of the other veterans belonging to the same group he was teaching at the shooting range. Kurt, of course, refuses. As Kurt tells Diane more, she decides to take matters into her own hands and represent him legally. Meeting with Starkey, they find out that the man Kurt recognises has now, in his statement, made Kurt part of the whole conspiracy. Throughout, Diane is conflicted between her love and support for her husband, and the justice she wants to have served against the people involved in the Capital riot.
While Diane is engaged in personal matters, Liz is handling a defamation case against a small bike store owner who lost his business because a neighbour spread rumours online about him grooming and molesting young boys. Although the representing lawyers meet to decide on a settlement in favour of Liz's client, it turns out that the neighbour is bankrupt and cannot even pay her lawyer.
Liz is then approached by DAVID CORD (STEPHEN LANG) who offers the firm 12 million dollars if they continue the defamation suit, but go after Section 230 -- which protects online platforms and social media from being sued, unlike what can happen to newspapers -- and sue the online platform ChumHum where the rumours have been circulated instead. Taking on Julius as her second because their sponsor does not take well to Democrats (he's a GOP operative), Liz continues working on the case. And although they, arguably, win the case in the eyes of JUDGE CLAUDIA FRIEND (BEBE NEUWIRTH), she cannot legally rule in their favour because of Section 230. Their sponsor is, however, interested to continue the case for as long as possible.
REVIEW
There was a lot going on this episode, but as always I've quite enjoyed it. I don't know what it is about this show exactly, but I really dig it. It's so far out of my usual tv watching pattern, but for some reason I am always super invested while watching this.
I am still a huge fan of Mandy Patinkin's copy-shop court. I've always enjoyed him as an actor, and he is just magnificent here. I am so happy that we will likely see a lot of him this season, especially with Marissa now working for him. I think he is delightful and I cannot wait to see where that plot line is going exactly. I love the story he tells to Diane to convince her that him hiring the firm so he can keep Marissa is a good idea. And I was glad that she accepted.
I am still very suspicious about Carmen. There is so much hidden depth in that character and I want to know more. I loved Liz's line: "I have no idea what I am about you." Carmen is an enigma, a puzzle, and I can't wait to learn more about her. There has got to be something behind that cool, confident exterior.
The whole Kurt dilemma is going to be big drama, I suspect. But I am very happy we have Jane Lynch back with her terrible office. Agent Starkey is such a great character. But yeah, I smell a lot of tension in the Lockhart-McVeigh household coming up about this whole Capital riots thing.
Also, uhm? Shout-out to the return of AARON TVEIT's lawyer character SPENCER ZSCHAU? I forgot he was in this show before, to be honest. But yay, Aaron! We love him here.
And of course, lest I forget, we had another wonderful musical short explaining Section 230 this episode! Those musical shorts are one of the fantastic things about this show, and I am glad we have them back this season too.
Anyway, I really quite enjoyed this episode. Looking forward to next week!

The Band
Summery: Aaron asks his father to come and watch his band play.
A/N: Had this idea for a headcannon and decided to make a fanfic of. Credits to @ellyhotchner for helping me with this idea. I also apologize for the band name.
Taglist: @ellyhotchner @unionjackpillow @eleanorbloom
Warnings: Implied/Refrenced Child abuse, child abuse, homophobia
Aaron was in a band. The Southern Street Boys in fact. He joined band when he was a junior in highschool only because his crush asked him to. Connor, his crush, was the leader of the band. He was the main singer. James played the drums and Sam played the paino. All four of them were like a family.
Aaron met Sam and James when he was first joined in the band. Sam was the oldest and was a senior. And James was a sophomore like Connor. Which means Aaron was the youngest in the group. It also mean the three of them like to tease Aaron and his shyness. Connor gave Aaron his first guitar but his father broke it after he got drunk again. When the band found out, they spent all of their savings into buying a new one for Aaron. That's when he knew that they loved him and will do anything for them.
Aaron paced in the living room. The band was having a concert and he wants his father to come but he doesn't know he is still in the band. Soon his father came in with Sean from work. Aaron was jealous of how close his father and Sean is.
"Where's your mother?" His father asks.
"Getting groceries and then she is meeting with some friends", Aaron says. His father nods and goes into the kitchen. Aaron follows him. His father puts Sean on the ground and faces his oldest son.
"What do you want?" His father barks.
"W-what?" Aaron asks, scared that his father raised his voice. This usually means his father was ready to beat him up in the basement.
"You keep following me", His father replies. Aaron makes a silent oh.
"Well I was wondering if ...", Aaron starts saying. He wonders if he should drop the conversation and never tell him about the band.
"Wondering what?" Aaron's father snaps.
"Can you come to my band's concert tonight?" Aaron asks quickly. His father stares at him for a second.
"You're still in that band? I told you to quit?" His father says. Aaron gulps silently.
"Big brother is in a band?" Sean asks excitedly. They both looks at Sean who was listening to them both the whole time.
"Yeah", Aaron says, kneeling down to be the same height as Sean.
"Can we see Aar be in a band?" Sean asks his father. Aaron looks at his father with pleading eyes. His father sighs.
"Fine, we can go", his father says.
"Yay!" Sean says. Aaron sighs. He smiles at his father who just scowls at him.
"When's the concert?" Aaron's father asks.
"At eight but I have to be there by seven", Aaron replies.
"Ok, be ready by then", his father says. Aaron nods and goes to his room. All he has to do is not screw up for the rest of the day.
Soon it was seven in the night and Aaron was ready to go. He was wearing a leather jacket with ripped jean and his band's t-shirt. Sean And his father was also ready.
His father drove them all to the band where there is also many people waiting. His father parks in the back of the school where the band members are supposed to go. All three of them go into the back stage where there is the band getting ready to go on stage.
"Aar!" Connor yells as he walks towards Aaron. He looks at the tall man with piercing blue eyes.
"And you must be Aaron's father. Nice to meet you, Mr. Hotchner", Connor says as he puts his hand out to shake.
"Nice to meet you too ...", his father replies, shaking Connor's hand.
"Connor, James is over by the drums and Sam is the one talking with out music teacher", Connor introduces the band. His father hums looking at the band. Connor has blonde hair with blue eyes, James has light brown hair with brown eyes and Sam has reddish-brown hair with green eyes.
"Anyways, our choir teacher can lead you to the waiting room. We will be on stage, shortly", Connor says to Aaron's father. His father and Sean followed the choir teacher outside where the seats are. Aaron sighs and Connor looks st him sadly. Connor was the only one on the band who knew what exactly his father does to Aaron.
"Don't worry, even if he doesn't approve, you're still a part of our family", Connor says, reassuring him. Aaron nods, still not looking at Connor. Connor wraps his arms around him and gives him a hug. Aaron flinches but hugs him back. Soon it was time for them to play.
Aaron's father sits next to a man with a clipboard. The man nods to him and Aaron's father nods back. After a couple of minutes, it was time for the Southern Street Boys to play. They were playing an original song called "Yellow Sunflowers". Aaron's father starts unconsciously tapping his foot on the ground and Sean looks at his brother with wide eyes.
"Is that you're son?" The man next to Aaron's father asks. He points to Aaron who is playing the guitar.
"Uh yeah", Aaron's father replies.
"I'm Nick Joneson of Goerge Washington University", the man introduces himself.
"Michael Hotchner", Aaron's father says. They both shake each other hands.
"What's a guy like you doing here?" Michael asks, curiously.
"Just finding students with talent to hand out scholarships to", Nick says casually.
"And so far, your son is on the top of my list", Nick adds. Michael stares at him.
"Wait, my son? The one playing the guitar?" Michaels asks to make sure he is talking about Aaron.
"Yup, he is one talented kid. You should be proud", Nick says. Michael doesn't say anything and looks at his son. He's right, he should be proud of Aaron.
Ten minutes past and the concert is over. Sean clapped the loudest and Michael surprisingly clapped too. He was good at the guitar and he already has a scholarship as a junior. He was actually impressed. He almost regrets smashing his guitar and forcing his son to quit.
Aaron and the band run to the back stage. They were all laughing at all the applause the audience gave them.
"That was amazing!" James says.
"That was the biggest applause we got!" Sam says agreeing with James.
"Now your dad can't let you out of the band", Connor says to Aaron. Aaron blushes.
"Yeah! The guitar riff you did at the end was super cool!" James compliments Aaron.
"Yeah, good job kid", Sam says ruffling Aaron's hair. Aaron blushes at the praise. Soon James and Sam's parents came and it was just the both of them. They both say down in the couch waiting for their family. parents came and it was just the both of them. They both sit down in the couch waiting for their family.
"Hey, can I tell you a secret?" Connor asks to Aaron.
"Sure", Aaron replies. Connor leans in and kisses Aaron. Aaron freezes but then kisses him back. They both kiss each other softly before Aaron pulling back.
"Wait... what's the secret?" Aaron asks. Connor looks at him and then laughs. Aaron laughs back.
"The secret is that I want to be your boyfriend", Connor says to Aaron. Aaron blushes.
"Me too", Aaron replies. They both kiss again but was interrupted by Aaron's father. Aaron freezes, realizing that his father saw them. Connor looks at him sadly and tries to say something but Aaron's father pulled Aaron away from him. Soon when they were out of anyone's view, Aaron's father grabs his son's hair.
"What the hell were you doing?" His father barks at him. Aaron can feel tears forming in his eyes.
"I-I'm sorry", Aaron says to his father. Michael scoffs at him.
"Didn't look like you were sorry. Maybe I should sent you to boarding school, to get you straighten up", Michael threatens. Aaron's eyes widen in fear.
"N-no, please papa. I'll do anything. I'll go do the chores for a year. You can hit me whenever you want but please not there", Aaron pleads at his father. Suddenly, Michael hits him across the face. Aaron winces in pain. Michael grabs his hair again making him face his father.
"I'll be nice to you. You will do whatever I say for the rest of your life. You will take every hit you deserve and you won't cry like a pathetic baby. But as soon as you graduate this year, I'm sending you to a summer program at the boarding school. Deal?" Michael snarls. Aaron looks at him knowing that he doesn't have a choice.
"D-deal", Aaron stammers. His father hits him again and bruises his lip.
"You fell on the ground that's why you bruised your lip", Michael says making up an excuse for Aaron to use. Aaron nods and they both walk to where Sean is and go back in the car. But the whole time, Aaron can't stop thinking how Connor wants to be his boyfriend. Despite the hits he received from his father, Aaron smiled because Connor wanted to be his.

Okay I know we’re all hating this new Aaron storyline… BUT IMAGINE IF THEY DID SOMETHING LIKE THIS. *dons clown wig and makeup*
So Aaron and Ben bump into each other, and yeah, it’s awkward af. Aaron doesn’t even recognise him at first, but Ben sure does remember Aaron and he’s not a fan.
So the bullying thing all comes out – Ben’s angry, Aaron’s mortified, and OBVIOUSLY apologises profusely and tries to explain some of the stuff he was going through at the time.
Ben softens a little, but he’s still not sure about him. But he moves to the area so they keep seeing each other around, and eventually he warms up to Aaron a bit when he realises how much he’s changed. He even introduces his boyfriend to Aaron (said boyfriend is under strict instructions to BE NICE and not kick off with him) and they go out for drinks with him now and then.
NOW ONTO THE MAIN STORYLINE.
So Ben came into a bit of money recently, and he’s in the process of using it to try and set up some sort of charity for LGBTQ youth in the area, maybe in all of Yorkshire. Maybe in all of the north and even further if it does well enough that he can expand!
The aim is to give help and support to kids who are struggling, to educate other teens and parents, to provide safe spaces, helplines and resources for kids in need. To put on events for them to just have fun and hang out with other kids from their community.
Ben really needs help, though. While he’s passionate as hell about his project, he’s only one man and it’s too much to take on by himself. His bf helps as much as he can, but he has a very demanding job, so there’s only so much time he can give.
Ben’s telling Aaron over a pint about how much he’s struggling and needs someone to help him, and before Aaron can stop himself he’s like, I’LL DO IT.
So Aaron ends up getting involved and LOVES it. He’s not so good at the organisational/admin side of things (except for a few good habits Robert drilled into him over the years), but he’s great with the kids and – he’s surprised to learn – he’s actually really fucking good at coming up with ideas for things they can do and how to make them work.
When Ben mentions them needing more volunteers, Aaron says he knows someone with a lot of free time on his hands, and gets Matty involved, too. Yay more screentime for Matty!
Aaron’s so bored at the scrapyard these days – he can run it in his sleep and without Adam or Robert involved, his heart just isn’t in it like it was a few years ago. Vinny’s actually a pretty fast learner (and better with customers than Aaron ever was), so he gives him a promotion (partially to get Mandy of his back ffs) and lets him pretty much run the day-to-day side of things. Which gives Aaron more time to devote to the charity – something he’s actually passionate about.
Ben asks him once why he’s SO invested. He’s not complaining of course, but he was a little surprised at just how passionate Aaron is. Aaron says something about how much he wishes the charity existed in the area years earlier. Ben says, “Oh, because you wish it had been there to help you?”
Aaron just looks at him sadly and says, “I mainly wish it had been there to help my husband”.
Being involved with the charity means that Aaron spends much more time away from his family and interacting with other people. And while Ben isn’t much like Adam, it’s amazing to have a good friend again. Aaron had almost forgotten how good it felt to just have someone to hang out with and talk to other than his relatives.
SPEAKING OF CHADDY.
Surprise surprise, they’re not onboard with any of this. They don’t like how much it takes Aaron away from the village, they worry it’s too much for him to take on, they say it might bring back bad memories for him. Pick a reason, doesn’t have to make sense. It never does with them.
MAINLY they just don’t like that he’s not at their beck and call 24/7, that when they try to pop into the Mill unannounced, he’s almost never there. Or if he is, he’s busy in the middle of planning stuff and could really do without the distraction right now, so could they see themselves out please?
He’s an adult with commitments and responsibilities… essentially he just has a lot of shit to do, he doesn’t have TIME to listen to their whining.
Cain is (quietly) super proud of Aaron and tells Chas she could do with trying to do the same. He even attends one of the parent events one evening. Partially for Aaron, but also because he’s starting to suspect Kyle might be… well, Cain’s not entirely sure, but he’s starting to suspect he may not be straight. And he wants to be prepared, make sure he’ll say and do the right things if/when the time comes where Kyle is old enough to want to talk about it. He sits at the back during the talk, and is awkward as hell with the other parents during the tea/cake segment afterwards, but he does it.
So yeah, a few months down the line Chaddy break up. It’s horrible and messy (someone cheated idk), and they both expect Aaron to be there to support them, but Aaron is not having it. After all the “support” they gave him when he lost Robert? Or the “support” they’ve given him for finally doing something that he loves and is passionate about? Yeah, no chance.
He’s taking Eve under his wing and letting her spend a lot of time at the Mill, because God knows she deserves better than what either of her parents are offering. But that’s the extent of the “support” he’ll give to Chaddy.
Oh, and then one day Aaron gets a call from Pete who tells him that Ross and Rebecca have shuffled off this mortal coil (car accident, earthquake, unfortunate incident with a toaster – choose your own death) and Seb needs a guardian.
DADDY AARON TO THE RESCUE.
Here we have another (non-romantic) storyline for Aaron that doesn’t revolve around the Dingles. Now he’s suddenly a single dad, and while he over the moon to have Seb back, it’s a lot to deal with. But he figures it out – of course he does – and before he knows it, he’s built a pretty damn good life for himself.
He has his son, he has his friends, he has the charity, he’s financially stable (thanks Vinny), he’s independent. Yeah, there’s not a day that goes by where he doesn’t miss Robert, but his life is good. As good as it can get without Robert in it. He’s almost...kind of...proud of himself.
But then! A few years down the line, it comes out that Luke Posner killed his brother – shocker – and Robert is released from prison. He comes back to Emmerdale, they obviously have to talk and interact for Seb’s sake. And then… well, they’re back together in no time, aren’t they? Reunion 3.0 and it’s beautiful.
So there we go. Plenty of storylines and screen time for Aaron, no romance necessary. It’s that easy.

Impromptu Cuddles (part three)
Tumblr media
“Imagine having to share a room with Spencer during a case, only to wake up wrapped in his arms.”
~IMPROMPTU CUDDLES~
Part One Part Two
Description: During a case, Spencer and the reader are forced to share a room with only one bed. Cute fluffy shit happens.
Warning: Mentions of a really bloody case, probably some cuss words. Unless repressed romantic feelings are a problem for you, then nothing else, I don't think.
Genre: fluffy fluff with a tiny bit of angst if you squint your eyes and tilt your head exactly fourteen degrees to the left.
Pairing: Dr. Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds) x non gender specific Reader
A/N: last chapter!! Most of this is in Spencer's POV again, but there's a tiny bit if the readers POV at the end. Image is still not mine, credit to whoever made it.
Words without A/N: 2303

<—————————————>
"Nope, sorry, all full," this second voice was a bit higher pitched, however, still distinctly masculine.
"I don't think you realize, we are federal agents, we've been cha—"
My mind faded away from the conversation, instead choosing to focus on the stunning person beside me once again. I stared down at them unabashedly, taking in all of their unintentional beauty.
"—have to... have to double up?" The boys voice came back into focus just before (name) looked up at me, a questionable look on their face. Instead of looking away as per usual, I simply followed along and creased my eyebrows together in question as though I had some idea as to what was going on.
We began to move into the room that held everybody, glancing around to take in the angry and tired looks on everyone's faces before looking back down to study (name)'s breathtaking features. Taking in the shine in their hair and the glow in their heavy eyes, the quiver in their lip as they suppressed a yawn.
As I watched them, they slowly began to tilt towards me, leaning their body weight into my shoulder. As much as I usually became uncomfortable with contact with other people, I most definitely enjoyed the feeling of them pressed against me. I turned my body slightly, allowing them to rest more so against my chest than my shoulder, figuring it might be a bit more comfortable.
I felt them sigh and lean into me more, felt their body sag with relief to have some of the weight taken off of their feet. Despairingly, however, it only lasted a moment. Before long, they stiffened ever so slightly and pushed themself off of me, trying—and failing—to suppress a yawn as they looked up at me.
"Mmmsorrymmm," they hummed.
I could feel the disappointment on my face when they pulled away, taking their heavenly scent and addicting heat away with them. The more the group ahead of us talked, the less I listened. Instead, yet again, putting the majority of my focus on them.
I heard them ask a question, one that I didn't quite catch, and just heard the tail end of the response.
"Turns out there are only half as many rooms, so, yay, we all get to bunk up."
''But there was eight. So who gets to be parterless?" I glanced up from my job of Staring At (Name) to look around the room at all of the people that I call family.
We all gave a side long, knowing glance towards Hotch, already acknowledging the answer to that question.
After an uncounted amount of time of going back to staring at them, I watched them lift their head up from looking at the ground, glancing around the room once before slowly trudging after the rest of the team at they all started heading up the stairs.
They quickly overtook the rest of the team and moved ahead with Morgan. I watched them figure disappear behind the corner, still thinking about them resting against me down in the lobby. Somebody tapped me on the shoulder.
"Hmm?" I questioned at Rossi, who had apparently called my name a few times before I turned around to him.
"I said, you should ask them out. Its not like Hotch would care, hell, he practically made up the rules against dating in the office space, as long as you kept everything professional at work, it'd be fine."
I could feel my cheeks flush aggressively, I looked away and responded.
"I'm so-orry?" Curse my stuttering!
"You heard what I said, and don't even try to deny it. Anyone can see the way you look at the kid." He responded, unhesitant.
I felt the blush hotter moving up my neck and quickly looked away, picking up my pace slightly to get away from the embarrassment. At the top of the stairs, I went to stand beside (name) once again.
As they got to the top, the others stopped in front if us, while Aaron kept walking, picking a room and calling out a groggy "g'night" over his shoulder as he closed the door behind him.
"Let's decide this now so I can go to sleep," Morgan spoke up. His voice sleep-filled and sounding quite irritated. "Who's sleeping with who and in what room." He demanded.
I stepped forward, usually, on any of our other night spending in which we were forced to share a room, Morgan and I would bunk up. However, this time, Derek quickly looked over to Rossi who was leaned up against the wall.
"I call you," he spoke, sparing me a sideways glance that shot down to (name), and headed off to a random room. I winced, but when JJ and Emily went off to their room and it was only us two left, I felt myself cheer up slightly. Maybe tonight would be the night I could get up the courage and ask them. The thought quickly morphed into anxiety.
"Guess its us then," (name) mumbled, and drug themselves into the last free room.
I followed after them like some lovesick puppy dog and quickly gave the room a once over when we entered. The inside of the room was almost an exact match with the outside, walls vandalized and paint peeling, dust covering everything, giving it all a rather eery feeling.
I turned back to watch (name) as they flopped heavily onto the mattress, kicking up a thick puff of dust in the process. I watched them for another moment before setting my things down and moving to lay down on the tiny couch.
I sighed heavily, thinking of all the ways I could try and bring up the conversation that I so badly wanted to have. Sorting through the words repeatedly, and coming up empty. I sighed once again and settled for a simple:
"Good night (name)."
The couch was not the most comfortable thing I'd ever slept on, but it was much better than nothing.
I heard them sigh then, a whisper, barely audible, they spoke my name. Its odd how that one, simple little word made me fall so much more violently in love with the (hair color) haired person.
"... you can take the bed, I'll sleep there, its way to small for you." I could hear the sadness punctuating the sentence. That only hardened my refusal to let them sleep anywhere other than the bed, they obviously needed the rest if they sounded that sad about leaving it.
"No, its-uh, its alright, (name)," I refused, "I'll sleep here, its f-fine."
Midway though my sentence, a thought came to mind. Hence the stuttered last word. If the two of us slept together – er, not *together*together, but simply staying in the same bed... not that I would necessarily mind but... Spencer! – anyway, it would not only save us this impending argument, it would also grant us the many pluses of sleeping next to another body.
"No, seriously, Spence," I loved it when they called me Spence...
I heard them stand up and walk towards me, kneeling down in front of me.
"I don't need the bed. Take it."
When I still didn't show any sign of moving, they sighed exasperatingly and grabbed my stuff, dragging it over to the bed and marching back over to me.
"I'm alright really, I'm fine where I am, you take the bed." I still refused. They rolled their eyes and grabbed my arm—just their touch alone felt like heaven—and began trying to pull me from the couch.
"C'mon, Spence," they pleaded.
Again I thought about asking them about the sharing a bed idea.
"I... I'm not m-making you sleep on here. Maybe..." I trailed off slightly.
They looked at me questioningly and sat down on the couch beside me, meaning that there was more of them touching me, more of them having no idea what they were doing to me.
"What? Maybe what?"
I began panicking slightly, abort, abort, how did I get myself into this?
I, stuttering voilenter still, responded hesitantly.
"W-well.. uhm, may-maybe we should, uh, just, uhm, you know, uhm, share...?" I saw the surprise flash across their features. "O-o-of course only if you wanted that is." I was panicking again. Time to go back to the statistics. "Did you know that sleeping in the same bed as another human can boost ones immune system, steady heart beat, help in the reduction of bad dreams and the sharing of body heat will keep approximately three times warmer, which aids in deeper and more restful sleep and I'm rambling I'm sorry I'll shut up now..." Oh goodness...
"Spencer, one, I find your rambling adorkable. Two, if you're comfortable with that then yeah, sure."
I flushed at the compliment; is adorkable even a word? Did they just agree??
"I am not," I mumbled. Getting up to follow them as they moved back towards the bed, glancing over their shoulder every now and then to check that I was still there.
"Dibs on that side," (name) demanded, pointing towards the side of the bed closest to the wall. I smiled at them slightly and nodded my head, watching them wonder away into the bathroom with their bag of toiletries.
I sighed, thinking about everything that had transpired this evening, before moving over to my bag to find my pajamas.
In finding them, I grimaced. Holding the stupid 'I ❤ π' shirt and debated my ability to sleep without it. No, that might be to uncomfortable for them. I quickly slipped into the clothing and glanced down myself. I looked like a total dork. This was going to be embarrassing.
I looked up from where I still stood starring at myself as I heard the bathroom door open. In nothing but the gigantic T-shirt, they looked somehow even more delicate than before. The shirt enveloping their entire small frame, emphasizing the gorgeous expanse of their (your skin color) legs. It took me almost a full minute to finish scouring their body. Taking in every little detail.
They giggled slightly at —I'm assuming— the fact that I was stuck staring at them for so long. They almost seemed surprised at the action, putting a small hand over their lips after the sound escaped. They wobbled towards the bed and I, looking very happy to go lay down in a decent-enough bed for once.
Walking right past me, they crawled up the bed (which made an awful creaking sound as they did so) and plopped down rather unceremoniously. Curling up into a ball with their front to the wall, they mumbled over their shoulder to me.
"G'night, Spence," before falling almost immediately into sleep.
I slowly lay down beside them, careful not to jostle the bed and awaken them, and rolled so that I could watch the rhythm of their breathing. After only a moment, I couldn't help myself. I reached out to play with a piece of their hair, and muttered, barely audible even for myself, seventeen letters and seven words that I never thought I could ever really see myself saying before.
"I think I'm in love with you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
At some point during the night, I awoke for some reason or other. Looking over at the gorgeous being beside me, I couldn't help but crave the ability to wake up to something like this everyday for the rest of my life. I itched for it in fact, I hungered for it even.
Again, damn my self-control, I couldn't help but reach out and touch them. Tracing my fingers ever so gently over their cheekbone, they made an odd keening sound, furrowed their eyebrows, and turned their head slightly up into my hand. Nuzzling against the warmth of my hand in their sleep. They must have been absolutely freezing.
Hesitantly, I reached for their shoulder, slowly pulling them across the mattress and closer to me. I smiled slightly at the fact that their mouth graced with a slight smile at the touch. I pulled them closer until they were right against my chest, after which I promptly wrapped my free arm around their lower back, holding them to my chest protectively as they slept.
I bent my head to bury my face into their scent for a moment, enjoying their presence while it was there. I layed my head back down on the dusty pillow, wrapped one hand into their hair, and faded back off into sleep, a silly smile on my face the entire time.
~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, as per usual, I awoke before everyone else. Including the person that still lay tight against me. Their small arms wrapped around my middle and holding me just about as tight as I held them.
I may not ever get to tell them I love them, but, in this moment, I'm content to live with it, if only we could stay like this forever...
**(name)**
I'm not so sure what awoke me this time, but I did know that I was suddenly a lot warmer than I was the first time I woke up tonight.
Peeling my eyes open, as expected, I couldn't see anything in the dark. But, looking up, I could make out the shape of Spencer's face nuzzled into my hair, his expression happily calm.
I couldn't help but find it adorable
His arms were rested around me, pulling my tight into his chest. When had that happened?
Content with cuddling with the lanky doctor, I untangled one arm from between us, and wrapped it around his lower back, burrowed my face into his chest, and closed my eyes, fading back onto the first peaceful sleep I'd had in months.
This entire "oneshot" is 6590 words. Yikes.

MIDTERM; MOCK TRIAL CLAIM
Who: LJ Gilbert & Aaron Smythe @aaronsmythe
Where: LJ’s Suite
What: Scene - blindfolded cooking
lj gilbert
The task was simple on paper. All Aaron had to do was trust LJ. That's all it took for this scene to be a success. But that was a lot to ask of anyone, especially someone you were still in the process of getting to know. That part was easy, fun even, and LJ really wanted to see how much they could push Aaron during this experience. Which would in turn push LJ. It would have been too easy to just hang out with Aaron and forgo all D/s aspects, but that wouldn't have been fair to either of them. The task was cooking and Aaron was completely blind. Aaron was allowed to cook the dish and prior to the blindfold going on, it was explained to LJ. "Okay first I want to familiarize you with where everything is. The stove it still off so you won't burn yourself, so can you put your hand on it? Then list off the ingredients and I'll put your hand on it just so you have some idea where everything is."
Aaron Smythe
Aaron could feel his heart beating against his chest as he listened to the Dominant instructing him from somewhere around him, he couldn't pinpoint exactly where. This was far more trust than he'd given anyone in a really long time, and it had him a little on edge. It was just simple cooking, sure - but he still didn't fully know LJ, and there was a lot of room for error here, especially when he was about to put his hand on a stove top. He knew it was off, but instinct not to touch it was definitely there. "Okay. I mean, yes, Mx," He quickly corrected, then took a breath and dropped his hand down onto the stove, swallowing the nerves. He relaxed a little when his hand didn't burn, gripping tightly onto the edge of it for some miniscule amount of comfort. "Um, sure. Okay. Pasta... tomato sauce... spices... uh, meatballs."
lj gilbert
What LJ appreciated most was his willingness to try and to learn from his error, like the way he corrected himself right away. And LJ could not ask more than that. He couldn't see it, but it did earn him a smile from them as they touched their hand to the back of his. "Thank you for trusting me and following through," LJ praised, wanting him to know how big that one motion was to them and how much it meant. "Okay,." LJ was trying to let him know every time they were going to move his hand. They laced their fingers with Aaron's from the back of his hand and gently listed it, touching all of the ingredients in order of the way Aaron listed it. They were all on the same side of the counter, to his right. "And the pots and pans are on this side," they went on, moving his hand to the left side of the stove. "Okay, tell me what you need to do and I'll direct you. Don't move until I tell you to."
Aaron Smythe
Aaron tensed slightly at the touch on his hand, but slowly eased into it to allow the Dominant to guide it in the direction of each item as he listed them, doing his best to take note of the distance his hand was from his body as they moved it. The praise definitely helped him relax, but he'd rather die than admit that. He just nodded, maintaining the same neutral expression as before. "Yes, Mx. Well, first I need to... uh, turn the stove on and get the pasta going," He informed cautiously, doing his best not to move. "Boiling, I mean." Aaron was an incredibly independent person, so having to rely on anyone for anything was not an easy task for him. Yet he was finding that he hadn't minded spending time with and getting to know LJ this week, and that softened the blow quite a bit, knowing he had the potential to make a friend out of this whole mess of an ordeal.

LJ surveyed where the pot was and moved to stand directly behind Aaron to get a better gauge on where things were from his point of view. “Alright, the pot is at your 8 o’clock. And the sink is directly behind you. Turn around walk 3 feet and the faucet is on... yup there. Keep the water running. Stop. Halfway is good yeah?” LJ continued until the pot was on the stove and boiling and LJ couldn’t help but smile. “So far so good. What’s next?”
Aaron Smythe
Aaron followed each instruction the best he could, getting a little frustrated with himself at various times when he'd accidentally shift the pot too much and wet his hand, or even miss the eye on the stove while trying to put the pot on it. He tried to conceal it, but he couldn't even stop the soft huffs he'd let out every now and again. "Uh, next I think the water needs to start boiling. But we can start heating the pasta sauce up?"
lj gilbert
Every time there was a huff of frustration from Aaron, LJ would place their hand on his back and offer a word or two of reassurance, as well as a reminder that they were right there with him. “Cool okay. Well the other, smaller pot is at your 7 o’clock. You can put the pot right there in front of you... a little more to the right. Perfect. Now keep your left hand on the pot, I’ve opened the sauce which is right next to your right hand.” They weren’t supposed to help at all but with Aaron’s frustrations, they did the small thing, just to give him a bit of relief.
Aaron Smythe
Their words and gentle touches of reassurance would help each time, causing Aaron's shoulders to relax until the next source of frustration came along. He followed each instruction carefully, until finally he was pouring the sauce into the smaller pot without spilling even a little of it. Of course, he couldn't actually see that. "Uh, did I make a mess?" He asked cautiously, doing his best to resist the urge to move the blindfold. He carefully set the now empty jar back on the cabinet, biting the inside of his lower lip as he did so.
lj gilbert
LJ definitely took it as a win each time they were able to relax Aaron. There was silence all around them and complete focus and concentration from both parties. It's that level of commitment that would be celebrated later as a job well done. But for right now, LJ breathed along with Aaron and continued to smile, even though he couldn't see it. "Nope, no mess at all. You're going great so far." LJ praised, not even trying to hide their excitement. "Okay, what's next? Meatballs and spices into the sauce? I'm really bad at cooking so please tell me if that's not right."
Aaron Smythe
Aaron bit back a chuckle and nodded once in response to the Dominant's question. "Yes, Mx. The meatballs and spices are next. They can go in the sauce for simplicity and time saving, unless you'd prefer we sear them first," He offered, then actually cracked a small smile as he allowed them to guide his hand towards the items. He was a little nervous about using a frying pan during this exercise, but he found himself trusting LJ more and more as it went on. With them guiding him, he continued to get the meatballs ready to go in the sauce, while also doing his best to add a few shakes of each the spices into the sauce. It was hard to gauge how much he was adding, but he was doing his best with what he had to work with.
lj gilbert
"Oh no, let's do it the right way," they agreed. This next part was the most nerve wracking for the Dominant. Frying or searing like Aaron said always scared LJ the most and seemed the most dangerous, but it seemed to go by the fastest. Perhaps it was because their heart was beating against their chest and the adrenaline was pumping until they were cutting off that burner and adding the ingredients to the sauce that had been simmering. "Oh my goodness, Aaron, this smells so good. I think we're almost done. Are we ready to drain and put it all together?" LJ stuck their finger into the sauce and then into their mouth. It tastes good too. Yay, I'm excited!"
Aaron Smythe
Aaron listened to the Dominant praising him, and as much as he hated the response he was having to it, he couldn't get the sense of pride in his chest to go away. Deep down, he was a submissive like everyone else, he loved being told he did a good job and he did gain a sense of pride when someone was proud of him, he just refused to show it, and he especially refused to rely on other people for it. Clearing his throat softly, he offered a nod and a small smile. "I'm glad you like it. Yeah, I think we are. Can you, uh... throw a noodle against the wall? If it sticks, it's ready. Or, at least that's what I've heard?"
lj gilbert
At Aaron's request, LJ smiled and nodded. "Throw it? Absolutely. Who knew cooking could be so fun!" They picked up a noodle from the top of the pile and wound it up by spinning their hand and threw it towards the cabinet. "It stuck!" They exclaimed proudly. "Okay, so far so good, you ready to put it all together." LJ really was so proud of not only Aaron but of both of them for working together so well.
Aaron Smythe
"Yeah, ready," Aaron confirmed, returning his full attention back to the pots and pans he was still unable to see. "Which step is next, Mx? What still needs to go in?" He asked curiously, both hands finding their ways to the counter to steady himself and get an idea of where he was in relation to everything.
lj gilbert
LJ stoped and surveyed the room. "Okay. So theres a big ol' bowl at your 3 o'clock that you can first put the noodles in which is right here," they guided his hand to the strainer the noodles were sitting in. "And the sauce and noodles and things. "Let’s do it together!”
