Malec meet pre-canon divergent

(considering tv-show canon only, as I don't know much about the books) I personally found it a little weird that Alec and his siblings had to be briefed about the High Warlock of their territory, by Hodge. Shouldn't Alec, as the acting head, have been aware of the most prominent downworld leaders in the city his institute is in? Wouldn't Magnus have been in the institute before, for ward maintenance or things like that? Wouldn't they have had to call him to close rifts that demons were popping out of? (Not like those kinds of things were ever shown or discussed in the show, but then again, the show was very stingy where details and backgrounds were concerned.) Anyway, I would like to propose a series re-write, where Alec and Magnus get to know each other pre-canon, and Magnus has the chance to bolster Alec's self-worth and confidence a little. And then exploring what effect this might have, as Alec wouldn't be such a pushover where his siblings are concerned. (I actually just really like re-writes of given plots that explore changes to said given plot, so that personal guilty pleasure might heavily play into this prompt…. 😉 )

possible scene:

They could meet on site for rift closure, and Alec is laying down a plan of attack, because some demons have already gathered. And then Jace is trying to propose another plan (that's less tactical than Alec's was and more of a 'run in head first' kinda deal). And Alec is not confident about his own plan versus Jace's, and he is about to give in, but then Magnus is like: "I agree with the pretty boy." And Jace smirks and goes: "See, the high warlock thinks it will work." And then Magnus goes: "Oh no, I was talking about his plan. Yours sucks."

I think, if a relationship between them (platonic heading for romantic) exists for some time, Magnus would probably let slip about Maryse and Robert having been in the circle. Not in a malicious way. I think Magnus assumed that Alec knew. So maybe one day Magnus offers to check over the wards, and Alec accepts and wonders loudly about why his parents didn’t commission check ups for two years,

and Magnus just "Well, they have tried to limit their business with downworlders as much as possible. Which isn't surprising, seeing as many of us feel that they haven't been sufficiently punished for their crimes while they were in the circle. But it's not as if I would have refused the job. I might have overcharged them, … Alexander? You look pale, is something wrong?"

I just see them having lots of little conversations that help build Alec up, while not just being simple compliments. Like, when Alec doubts his leadership qualities and asks Magnus about his opinion, as Magnus has fought in a few wars and known a few figureheads. "I believe being a good leader comes down to knowing and trusting in yourself." "Shouldn’t that be 'knowing and trusting my people'?" "That, too. But it's important to know your own strengths and weaknesses. For example, I'm one of the most powerful warlocks out there with a deep and varied understanding of my craft, and I look dashing in silk. I'm also impatient, occasionally vain, and I can be quite petty. Now what about you? Let me start you off. You are afraid." "Wow, didn’t think you would start with a weakness." "I didn’t. Well, maybe a little bit. Fear can be both. But in this case, I meant it as a strength." "How?" "Think back to our first meeting. The fear of not knowing what the situation was we were walking into, made you come up with a strategy that allowed us to assess what was going on, while also ensuring minimal collateral damage. What do you think would have happened had you been as cocky as your parabatai, and stormed right in?" "… We wouldn’t have known about the circle members, or the back entrance. The perimeter wouldn’t have been secured. The teen warlock might have become a victim to a shadowhunter blade, had you not had the chance to see the enslavement collar on her." "See? You have good instincts, Alexander, and a great mind for tactical manouvers. That is something you should trust in more."

Charlie Dalton and Knox Overstreet - The Secret Swiftie - And the most obvious

He definitely listens to Taylor Swift on a daily basis - Prolly lives and breathes the 1989 era - Now as for the question of how he expresses that? He is either that really quiet one until Knox walks in on on him screaming But Daddy I love Him - He will not let him forget it

Knox is the MOST obvious TS fan amongst the poets - Loves Lover and has cried with Todd over The Manuscript and loml and YOYOK and Back to December and All too Well (10min) - Neil has not forgiven him for that one night when Todd came into their dorm, crying about how The Black Dog is Wolfstar coded (The Poets are so into ATYD and like the Marauders lore)

Knox Overstreet is drunk and cries over Chris while listening to Laufey

Being the hopeless romantic he grabs a bottle of something and puts Laufey on loop on Spotify and cries about Chris - Charlie and Cameron in the dorm have to either stuff their ears or actually go and manually shut of Spotify to stop him from crying. Knox proceeds to cry without Laufey and mumbles the lyrics to himself until he falls asleep

Todd Anderson lives for Hozier analysis - Loves The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives

Todd Anderson is the biggest Hozier fan (DUH). He spent much of his free time sitting down and breaking apart Unreal/Unearth with his copy of the Inferno at his side. Neil and Todd go out to stargaze and they blast The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives on shuffle and Sufjan Stevens

Meeks has destroyed everyone while playing Monopoly and Among Us

People underestimate him too much - well the joke it on them! He has made Cameron storm off and Todd huddle in a corner during Monopoly. Monopoly Monday is not exactly a thing - but when it is everyone rallies to pin him and Charlie together (who wins occasionally due to dumb luck)

He trolled everyone while playing Among Us and is the last to die.

Pitts collects vinyl records and/or CDs

He is definitely into The Smiths and The Beatles and Queen and he loves to collect records and CDs sometimes for aesthetics - But he is in charge of bringing the playlist to the party cause he is not going to overplay any artist (Knox overplayed love ballads and got together with Todd and cried over glasses of cheap wine). Has the most unpredictable music recommendations, but never disappoints.

Cameron vibes with period dramas

Cameron loves the good period dramas, and has read Austen, Tolstoy and E.M.Forester. Wants to be loved but isn't Knoxious desperate. He loves Downton Abbey and relates too much to Thomas and Mary for obvious reasons. Had a crush on Mr. Darcy at some point but now will not shut up about Alec Scudder from Maurice. Charlie had the brilliant idea of scaring him with a massive paper cut out of Colin Firth's Darcy. What ensued was a two hour manhunt for Charlie Dalton. Cameron still has the paper cut out and the poets have grown to appreciate its presence.

Neil loves Hamilton and Les Mis

That's it - he just does - Loves Lafayette and screams the lyrics of Helpless at any given time - Tried to fancast the poets as the cast - And tries to get everyone to sing One Day More (Knox is almost always Marius and is hella dramatic - Todd and Neil make up the Enjoltaire dynamic - Cameron likes Javert)

The Poets Love the Marauders

Charlie flexes the Sirius James energy but he's such a Regulus to Knox's James, who sees Chris as the literal Lily Evans (they are the folklore love triangle change my mind) . Neil and Todd (Wolfstar in a different font). Pitts and Meeks stan GRANT CHAPMAN and Cameron lives for the Black family line drama. They've all written fanfics or literal poetry about them.

Keating refuses to own a kindle

He loves physical copies of books too much - Cannot fathom the idea of owning a kindle

Charlie loves 80s coming of age films

It's his whole jazz - LOVES FERRIS BUELLER and can and will quote The Monologues in The Breakfast Club. Cried over Stand By Me, and has not recovered.

Neil and Pitts and Meeks love Fullmetal Alchemist

It was Christmas when they read volume 4 and none of them have physically recovered from it - IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW - Todd and Charlie had to make hot chocolate and listen to their ramblings and deal with Knox at the same time (who was crying over Chris yet again)

Chris and Ginny and Todd and Pitts and Charlie are in a band together

Knox wants frontline tickets, and Charlie has the time of his life selling the those tickets to literally everyone else. Todd doesn't sing and refuses to and is the lead songwriter - Ginny is the lead drummer and Pitts plays the keys. Chris is the lead singer and Charlie plays the sax and some random instruments on the side. Neil is the supportive boyfriend and Meeks buys them drinks after, and Knox drinks and pours his heart out to Todd.

magnus calling alec 'darling' etc. shockingly this is not canonical but it should be

my favorite fun/silly headcanon is magnus being able to turn into a cat. as you can see from my blog header

magnus never telling anyone his actual age and making up wildly different numbers (this might be canon actually)

not specifically malec, but - ragnor being alive and in hiding instead of dead

'17000' partners being a gross overestimation. or, maybe he's had that many one night stands (though it still seems borderline impossible), but the number that magnus considered actual relationships that meant a lot to him is much much smaller

demi magnus except i go back and forth on whether i actually headcanon this depending on the fic / situation

malec having a ton of kids in the future. normally i'm not really interested in parent fic or whatever but they just seem like the type

magnus buying extravagant gifts for alec and alec being like. help me

alec nevertheless winning the gift giving 'game' bc a) magnus isn't used to getting gifts so he's very easy to please and b) alec doesn't care about money so he's good at picking things that actually mean something

You see, there's something in this whole time traveling mess I can't piece together or maybe it's just because I don't want to piece it together.

Yes, OtherMax could possibly be a hero but that would mean going back to antagonize his family, lying, betraying the love of his life, reliving the worst moments of his life to save the world.

The Lightwood-Banes always choose their family first. Like Alec once said to Magnus, 'I don't want the world. I want you.'

Though, Max does have a penchant for punishing himself when he thinks there's something he doesn't deserve.

Why would he do this, then?

The only reason I could find is if his actions might lead to a world where David (and maybe the extended family) would live longer. He did say 'I lost everything'.

With that being said, it doesn't sit completely right with me.

OtherMax said Lance must die, but his death is not a canon event. It makes no sense, after telling David for years that he'll be fine, only show up at the worst possibly time when Mavid are the most vulnerable and then just "I'm sorry you lost Arthur, I'm glad David hasn't begun crying and hey, Lance must die or the world will be destroyed so I created Kincaid to kill Lance. You can absolutely not stop Lance from dying. Oh, and also, this will be the last time we see each other."

It's just not very clever. To ensure Lance dying, it would have been smarter to simply continue on the 'he'll be fine' path. Many things could be said about Max, but stupid isn't one of them.

I think he took the stele for a reason. I think he lied about lying. I think he pushed them all over an edge for a reason.

Another completly random question: does Lucifer not know about OtherMax? When talking to Azazel he only went on about nephilim.

^^^Final totally unrelated thought: I absofuckinglutely love that art for The RWRB au. Truly a masterpiece.

Leaders, sacrifices and difficult choices are definitely a big theme of LBAF (as you might have already noticed).

You are right to point out that heroes save the world and heroes make sacrifices. They choose the greater good over their own interests. So, yes, it doesn't make sense that Max is now a hero and trying to save the timeline. Because Max has always been David's hero first - his Lancelot.

But.

It's been 700 years. That's a long time. It's hard to assume that Max now is the Max 700 years later. After all, the Magnus we meet in the beginning of the Bane Chronicles is not the same man we know in TDA.

But you are not wrong to assume that Max, whatever his intentions and actions may be, will always try to protect David. In whatever way he can.

We'll see about that. Whether it's still true. 700 years later.

Lucifer knows about Other Max! It's actually there in the Azazel chapter - they talk about the Time Traveller 🥲

7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?

IIRC, I started reading SH fic before I watched the actual show, for some reason? (i think I wanted to, like, not get absorbed in the source material and have a Brand New Fandom to deal with. That totally worked out for me, lmao) Anyways, fic!Maryse and fic!Clary are two completely different characters when it comes to canon versus fandom treatment of them (IMO at least) which is valid! Everyone has their own interpretations of stuff! But I definitely got whiplash when it came to watching the show and getting pure ~vibes~ from fic alone.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

THAT ALEC IS BAD AT COOKING BECAUSE OF THE STEW SCENE. ALEC FOLLOWS DIRECTIONS. HE FOLLOWS THE RECIPE. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE HE FUCKED UP ON THAT PART. ALEC IS STUBBORN. HE WILL DO SHIT UNTIL HE IS GOOD AT IT (see: archery training etc). HE KEEPS WORKING AT IT AND HE IMPROVES, MAGNUS SAYS SO! HE IS NOT INHERENTLY A KITCHEN NIGHTMARE LIKE IZZY (MY QUEEN, WHO I HC as maybe getting a little too ~experimental~ in her culinary endeavors but she's passionate! And stubborn! And that's what counts, damn it!) BUT IF HE'S FOLLOWING THE RECIPE OF SOMETHING AND THE RECIPE SUCKS, HE'S GONNA GET SUCKY FOOD!!!

25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

POINT THE FIRST That Magnus was in the wrong for breaking up with Alec over the Soul Sword Disaster! Guys, he had valid reasons and the stakes were HIGH!!!! To me it definitely came across as a "I don't want to do this but I *have* to do this" type situation, especially with how he acted after the breakup was said and done. Like, Alec and Magnus each had their own reasons for doing what they did, but Magnus' reasoning of "oh shit we're at war and this could mean the death of my people" isn't somehow less valid because the initial decision to break up was perhaps a bit in-the-moment.

POINT THE SECOND Fandom getting pissy over show!Alec having hazel eyes, to the point where they insist that show!'verse (fic) Alec must have blue eyes. Like, I get that in the books there's a *whole thing* about Alec having blue eyes, but that's not the same universe!

Eyes are just eyes and no one can control the eye color they get at birth, but (by creating characters that have a certain eye color and then going out of the way to refer to these characters as attractive or draw attention to their eyes specifically) media creates this sort of forced importance of something that's literally completely up to chance IRL, which then IMO bleeds out into fandom via an insistence to, like, reinforce the importance of that feature via literally changing the canon so that it represents one bodily feature over another.

(also recently learned that tumblr, being tumblr, apparently has a thing about "if you have blue eyes then you're [insert negative trait here] and no! that is not what I am saying! my whole thing I'm trying to convey is about letting body features be body features and not a signifier of something else!!!!!!)

regulus & draco. so i have an undying need for regulus black lives and tries to stop draco from following down his path, like it's essential. but i know that your draco follows the werewolf theory which would also be very interesting. like regulus knows exactly how their family would react to that, and the other people around draco, and the regulus i write has grown up A LOT since he was a teenager. it would be an interesting dynamic, i think.

regulus & scorpius, depending on how you write scorpius, i can also see a potential here for complicated family dynamics.

percy & jason, of course, these two boys with their own camps and their own responsibilities and becoming two entirely different people because of this. it's very interesting and i love exploring it. i hate the "oh, i need to prove i'm better than him" kind of thing percy and jason were forced into in canon because i really don't see that as ... part of their personalities ?? so it'd be nice to explore otherwise.

percy & luke. potential, potential, so much potential !!!! like i'm all for the canon route of enemies these two went down, but i've also down for canon divergences where sally actually died and percy went full rebellion against the gods, on luke's side. kind of like the idea of sally dying earlier and percy ending up on the streets with luke, annabeth and thalia somehow. so much potential here.

sally & percy, role reversal i'd love to write my sally with your percy. because that relationship is just ... *chefs kiss*. i adore it. let me have it all.

poseidon & percy, same as the above, give me all the father-son dynamics. give me the angst, the rage, the bitterness, what it's like to have a child that heralds your doom, what it's like to have a father that doomed you to such a difficult life, and what it's like to find a way to love them anyway. poseidon desperately not wanting to lose his son and trying to find ways to get percy to accept godhood ... *side eyes*.

percy & ashton, when i read ashton's bio i kind of thought of percy and ashton being on a quest and ashton needing to use his charmspeak to manipulate their captors or whatever, and percy being like, yeah, thanks, bro, can you also charmspeak the dogs to stop barking and alerting everyone to where we are? unfortunately, i can only speak to horses. like i don't know why, but i really just get a chill vibe from these two together.

jace & alec, parabatai all the way i will die on this hill. i love these two. give me all the dynamics from the little boys who first met to the men they grow into, all the angst, the hurt they've inadvertently given one another, the devotion and even how that devotion can be their downfall !!!

clary & george, these two of simon's best friends meeting and being like, hmmmm ... like i can see a little bit of resentment in clary that someone could ever come into simon's life and replace her. but then she's so happy he had someone at the academy, and it's like "okay, truce, let's agree to share him."

clary & theo, i like the idea of clary being interested in this werewolf-nephilim hybrid, especially in a verse where jocelyn and luke have had a kid. like she would be trying to figure out what to expect for the future for her half-sibling, but even without that, i think she'd have a soft spot for him. defending him against the clave, etc.

scott & christopher argent jr. i like the idea of exploring a dynamic with allison's brother. that's something that scott never had to do in canon, and with a brother that's even more involved in the family business, even if he isn't after him like his father ( initially ), mother, grandfather and aunt were.

scott & liam, i love this dynamic !! scott's first beta, which he has so much guilt about and it's his responsibility and he messes up but he loves that kid and he wants to protect him ugh, give me scott and liam all the time, every day.

hayley & donovan, there's the past with tyler that i think would be really interesting for hayley to interact with his kid. especially when he's attending the same school as her kid.

hayley & klaus, my otp, i honestly don't care if it's romantic, sexual, platonic, familial, these two and their dynamics have a grip on my heart. i will always, always want to write everything about them. canon, divergence, au's - give me it all.

klaus & rebekah, sibling bond at it's toxic finest !! honestly, need i say any more.

hayley & rebekah, also sisterhood, because they both deserve it sm and they're both exactly what the other would need as a sister i think.

wednesday & enid, that's her best friend. she's never had a best friend before that isn't a disembowled hand but enid snuck under that skin and into her black heart and she's staying there. it was not wednesday's choice but it's happening. i love the dynamic.

katniss & finnick, like these two lost their minds together in thirteen and i will never be over their friendship. it is the LAST person katniss ever thought she'd be friends with but he ended up one of her best friends and i will forever sob about them. i love them, all dynamics, including an au where the rebellion never happened and katniss ended up a capitol puppet just like him. *side eyes*.

sam&dean & lennox, give me winchester sibling things. a littlest sibling for dean to be responsible for, a little sister for sam to also be responsible for. like there's so much potential here. sam not being the "baby" is ... interesting, because john and dean trying to "shelter" him is a major part of who he is.

What do you think would have happened if Carlisle called Aro for help in Twilight after the baseball game? I know that the Volturi don't mind vampires killing each other, but it's Carlisle...so would Aro come running?

Caveat

I don't think that'd ever to occur to Carlisle. Certainly, it was never brought up in canon.

As you note, vampires kill each other all the time, more Carlisle has been three centuries out of Volterra and hasn't had much contact with them. He has no reason to think they'd help him with this or that they're in any way obligated to.

Especially when it's over a human girl (who at the time they don't realize is gifted). The Volturi would just be very confused over this. If Edward cares so much, he should turn her, otherwise she'll die eventually.

Pity she has to go like this, but Edward's clearly made his position clear. The girl will die someday.

(And the icing on the cake being Alice knowing that if they turn Bella, James will back off, would not make this any better as then the answer becomes obvious.)

And if they do agree to help, it means Bella will be turned immediately, whether she's ready or not. The family has just met this girl, Edward's just fallen in love, and she has no idea what she's getting into.

His coven has to handle this on their own.

When Would He Do This?

I can only see him doing this if he felt he had no other recourse.

His entire family leaves her to die and there's nothing he can do to stop James. If he gets her to Volterra, surely, that would stop him.

(This is the A Girl's Best Friend, Love, and Lobsters ending. Where he couldn't turn Bella and his family refused to aid her. He felt he had no other option than to drop her off in Volterra for observation and sanctuary.)

In this world, even if Edward decided "LET HER BURN", and the entire family said "Nah, let's let James eat her and torture her to death", I imagine he'd turn her himself as that's the way he knows of to make James go away.

Bella gets to be a Cullen.

Joining this wonderful family of people who all just voted her off the island.

In this case, when it becomes clear Bella is very gifted, he might take her to Volterra to give her some kind of community that's not the Cullens.

But that's not what you asked.

Carlisle Has a Stroke

Carlisle decides to make the call to Aro for reasons unknown to him.

"Oh yes, hello friend, three centuries is a long time. By the way, there's this psychopath named James and it's a whole thing. Can you help?"

Aro's not sure how to take this and there's favoritism then there's favoritism. As it is, sending out Jane and Alec for this is ridiculous. I imagine Aro tells Carlisle to come to Volterra for a visit.

Hop on a plane with the girl while the vampire's distracted by the family (as they don't seem to be his goal), get to Italy, then come straight to Volterra.

From there, the girl can be turned, and they can decide what to do.

Carlisle does this, as it's much better than the Phoenix plan and less liable to get a good many people killed, and off they go with Edward weeping for panic.

For now Bella is doomed to be a vampire.

They arrive and HELLO GIFTED CHILD, Aro says, and is over the moon. He asks Carlisle how serious this Edward thing is. It doesn't seem that serious, the girl just met him, she barely knows anything about him or vampires period, Carlisle just had her over at his house. It can't be that serious.

Aro is deciding it isn't that serious.

She'll totally dump him and stay in Volterra.

Aro argues his way into Bella staying for at least a year (oh yes, the Cullens and Edward can come and visit, of course) and we get the usual shit show of the Cullens as Edward is now in the hellscape where Bella has been turned because he was a fool.

Did Joseph and/or Adora go through the "center phase" as the Twos call it? If so does anyone ever tell Alec this b/c I feel like that'd be a paradigm shift for him

oh lord I'm trying to remember my timeline ... I feel like the whole Arena sexy showmance thing had only JUST gotten started a few years ago (whenever it was D1's Eluria made her deal). really early days a D2 boy got ganked by falling for it, and so the Centre was like WELP OKAY, we actually need to deal with this, so they formalized the whole separation of sexes + seduction training + Centre phase to keep the kids from going bananas in the meantime

but I don't ...... think .....? it was really in place by the time Joseph and Adora were in Residential? if anything they would have been in the weird transitional period where they were scrambling to catch up and figure out how to handle everything

(if they had been born later, I don't think Joseph would have, he's much too Serious. Adora totally would have made out with girls tho, for peak Efficiency. can't fight good when you're horny!)

the thing is though the fact that the Centre Phase is so codified that you just assume everyone who's married with kids has had one really doesn't actually HELP Alec. thanks to Creed's unthinking dismissive response the night before the Reaping, now he thinks it's like, yeah, sure, everyone kissed boys when they were 14 but you get OVER it and you get married to a woman and have babies For The District like a good little soldier. his failure isn't liking boys, it's continuing to like boys after it's socially acceptable and refusing his duty.

which, to Joseph who did not grow up with the Phase but works with people of all ages and generations and does know about it -- he does kiiiiind of feel that way, when Alec tells him. it's not "I'm gay but don't worry I'm still going to be a Peacekeeper and marry and adopt after my 20", it's "I'm not going to be a Peacekeeper AND I'm gay AND I'm not getting married AND fuck you AND fuck the district AND the president and I'm going to get myself killed"

(which is not what Alec said, obviously! but we know how Joseph's brain works)

but yeah no you're right, they're having two different conversations, like always. I don't know if they ever do talk that one out, in canon, although at SOME point Alec should probably have a lightbulb moment where one of the adults is like, wait, who did you think Uncle Ramon was living with??? his friend???? and Alec is like THEY WERE BOTH CALLED UNCLE I THOUGHT THEY WERE BROTHERS

Oh gosh, the total list is so long at this point, with various one-off kind of deals, or fandoms I've moved on from.

I am currently considering myself an active writer in these fandoms though: Shadowhunters, Percy Jackson, Detective Conan/Magic Kaito, DC Comics.

Which actually looked really fucked up because yeah sure there's four super popular multi-chapter fics of mine. And then there is My College Boyfriend, which isn't just a oneshot, it is a oneshot with under 3k words. What. What.

And the, quite frankly frustrating, part here is that this oneshot only has 24 comments. Not even every 100th reader felt the need to leave a comment. That's just... so sad. Like. Genuinely, I think the kudos system broke commenting because the convenience of pressing a button beat actually expressing yourself genuinely through words and from the bottom of my heart, I find that depressing as fuck.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Always. Every single one of them. Because comments mean something. Someone took the time to tell you, with words, that they liked your work and maybe even what they liked about it.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Ooof, multiple contestants from back in my day when I wrote German fics for the Beyblade fandom and wrote about... darker themes. Not all fics used to have happy endings. I wrote some fics that ended in a suicide, so I guess those.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Impossible to answer, because for as long as I've been active in English writing, all my fics have had happy endings. The guy gets the guy, the girl gets the girl, and they live happily ever after. The world is saved or the evil defeated, maybe there's even an epilogue of a next gen in there. That's my standard, it ends happily. So that makes it impossible to pick one that somehow ends happier than the rest. xD

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Right. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah, of course. Funnily enough, never on the things you would assume attract hatred - the incest, the explicitly non-con stuff.

Nah, I got death threats and words that were somehow worse than death threats on my Oliver/Felicity fics in the DC fandom... a... straight canon ship... but not the canon ship from the multiverse that these vile assholes liked, so, ya know. Threaten the fans who love a ship you hate.

Also over the years, lotta nasty general homophobia for Nico/Percy in the PJO fandom - I have been writing in this fandom since 2010, and yes, there were really a lot of people especially in the earlier years who just hated the idea of making either Percy or Nico gay.

And the dumbasses who declare Jace/Alec incest and thus hate and threaten this ships fans in the Shadowhunters fandom. But still, inexplicably, like Alec. Even though, in canon, he's the one who was in love with Jace. I don't know, but if you claim the nasty, nasty incest is The Bad Thing, I think you should hate the character with the nasty, nasty incestuous feelings, instead of the fans who write perfectly tagged and filterable fics. But that's just me, I guess.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

All kinds of smut? I don't know how to answer this question, to be honest. xD

I've written oral, anal, vaginal, mlm, wlw, m/m/f, rare m/f ships but usually either she pegs or it's ABOverse and she's an alpha, I generally pepper in some flavors of BDSM into it, I've written dub-con and non-con before, bestiality, double penetrations. I have written a lot.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve ever written?

Oh, that is absolutely going to my first ever crossover. Because my usual crossovers are, ya know, that Big Four animated movie crossover verse (Tangled/Brave/HTTYD/RotG), or "I like these two fandoms, how would A's characters fit into B's world/how would B's characters fit into A's world?" for... essentially all my fandoms, and I wouldn't call any of these crazy - because the Big Four crossover is a beast of an own fandom so it's not really "original" or far out there to write for it, and in all my other crossovers, I do pride myself on making it work, like, not just throwing characters together but fitting their backstories and special powers into how the other world works.

So the craziest one is absolutely A Hundred Times Over, which is a oneshot sequel to my first-ever English-written fic and was written as a celebration because it was my 100th fic back then.

The original fic was already a crossover between Detective Conan and PJO, so for the celebration I thought "okay so what if I throw in my current obsession - Doctor Who - and my first ever ship - Shere Khan/Bagheera?". So, yeah, this crossover between Detective Conan, Percy Jackson, Doctor Who and Jungle Book has to be my craziest so far.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

So often. So, so, so, so often.

If you see my fics on watpad or any other platform that isn't AO3 or Fanfiction.net - and if you see them on those two but posted by an author that ISN'T Takara Phoenix - then please, let me know. Drop me a link wherever you can, I always greatly appreciate being told that my fics have been stolen so I can report that person and have it taken down.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No. All of the stealing of my fics has made me incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of my fics flowing around on other people's accounts or other websites, especially since the first like four or so stolen fics I had were translated.

Someone took my fics, translated them into Spanish and Russian, and posted them on other platforms, without ever asking my permission.

I don't want thieves to more easily slip through the cracks in between authorized repostings of my stories, so I have the blanket policy to not allow translations.

If you see my fics in other languages, tell me.

(There is one story that has been translated, but I'm not sure how far it counts, because I did the translating myself, and that's Lass Uns Etwas Dummes Tun/Looking For Something Dumb to Do. It is a PJO fic about Nico/Percy that I wrote in celebration for Germany legalizing gay marriage in 2017; I wrote it in German first, due to that, and then decided to translate it into English since I know my core-audience are English-speakers and not German-speakers.)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

We've written a total of five fics together so far.

Three Shadowhunters fics: Hurting and Healing, a Magnus/Jace oneshot, Three Times the Boys Felt Left Out, a Jordan/Simon/Jace oneshot, A King By Any Other Name, a Alec/Jace oneshot.

A Vampire Academy oneshot about Mason/Christian: The Chance at a Happily Ever After.

And, our pride and joy, our 51k multichapter Shadowhunters/Vampire Academy crossover fic about Mason/Christian and Simon/Jace: Double Puppy Dare.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

That's such a hard question to answer for me as a multishipper.

But to be quite honest, I think I would have to go with Kaito/Shinichi from Detective Conan/Magic Kaito?

It's the ship I've been the most consistently been faithful to and that, whenever I see it, sparks joy. That has proven that even when the fandom's gone dormant for me for months or years, it can reignite into a wildfire, where other fandoms just fizzle out and disappear from my interests then.

These two get me, they've been getting me for one and a half decades now and I doubt they'll stop any time soon.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

All of my unfinished German fics over on Animexx. When the German Beyblade fandom started to die, I tried to cling on, but at one point... when all your favorite writers, all your friends, have moved on? And then I started reading fics in English and soon after, also writing them in English. I feel bad about it, but it's just been far too long now.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Personally, I'd say world building. That's also my passion. I love creating elaborate worlds for my stories to take place in - I mean, damn, for the book series I'm writing, I developed my own language, religion and drew a map of the city it takes place in, among other things. A well-developed world is so important.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Oh, fight scenes and action and other things that...

When a character is good at a thing that I am not good in or know a lot about?

Like, when a character is super quippy and funny, but I am not really a one-liners-person so now I have to come up with quippy one-liners to capture his personality?

Or fighting or science, when a character is an expert in a field that I know nothing about and would not understand jackshit about even if I tried because it's not my wheelhouse? Those things, I really struggle with.

Also, I hate action and fight scenes. Like. That's the parts when I check my phone usually to avoid that my eyes glaze over from boredom. So, naturally, writing these things? Not fun. Not good at it either, imo. But certain fics - or rather, certain characters too - require action and fight scenes.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Painful if you have to use Google Translate. If you know the language? Yeah, go for it! If you have to resort to Google Translate? Maybe just write it in italics and note that it's in x language. It spares both, the native speakers who will die from second hand embarrassment, and the non-speakers who... won't understand it anyway.

But in the cases that I use foreign languages (and usually when I do, it's just... pet-names. Things you can't really fuck up that much and things that people would say in another language even in English-main-dialogues), I always put the translation right behind the sentence, because it's a special brand of obnoxious when you have to scroll ALL the way to the end of a chapter or fic to see what tf you just read, and then scroll back up again.

Hate doing that, so I won't do that to my readers.

19. First fandom you ever wrote for?

Oh, that's Yu-Gi-Oh!, with a hurt/comfort Kaiba/Joey fic.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

Can't answer that, it always depends on my current mood which of my babies I love the most ;P

hello loup!! this is so tough oh my... once again i'm lamenting my lack of organization, haha. i need to find a better way to save fics... apologies in advance, this will probably be long!

so, i might just be blanking, but i'm not even sure how many single episode rewrites i can think of with Eleven--a lot of them are either full series rewrites OR original plot + a "Day of the Doctor" rewrite at the end (yeah... here's one called "Time Rewritten" that's also Eight/Rose where Rose wakes up in Eleven's TARDIS with no memory and then gets stuck in the Time War, and here's one called "Three Doctors and a Baby" from the fantastic Tentoo/Rose and Eleven/Rose series Consequences, and another Time War one called "Battle in the Sky" that's mostly EightRose but ends with Day of the Doctor and Time of the Doctor... it's a good trope!)

that being said! the rewrite I go to most often for pure joy is "Until The End" by mltrefry, which is part of the "Run with You" multi-series rewrite. Specifically for Eleven's chunk of the series, I love "Vincent and the Doctor" (chapters 9 and 10) as well as.... I honestly think this is either original or maybe an EU takeaway, but there's an Eight/Rose and Eleven/Rose episode called "Before the Worst" (chapters 11 and 12) that I ADORE. This series also has Eleven show up in Blink in a previous fic which is incredibly sweet.

honorable mentions that came to mind:

there is a single episode pairing rewrite of the astronaut duo by no_nutcracker that i just read! ("if i believe in One thing")

there’s also one “i’m at odds and ends but that’s me” by CupofSonic if you like OT3 (tentoo is still here)

i absolutely refuse to read this one ever again because i am emotionally traumatized but here's the god complex ("in blackwater woods")

"when the wolf runs" is fantastic angst-with-a-happy-ending that isn't necessarily a rewrite but certain episodes are addressed and redone? essentially, Rose is woven in to Eleven's overarching plot really well and it's a great fix-it for River as well

i know this fic from the series "Tyler Family Adventures" has an Eleventh Hour rewrite at the very least; it's Tentoo/Rose at first and they actually semi-raise Amy growing up, but it shifts to Eleven/Rose when... well, you can probably guess.

"Out of Order" by lastincurableromantic also pops in on some canon adventures without doing full rewrites! we get a tiny glimpse of Venice and post-The Big Bang at the Pond wedding at the very least

I'm sure I'm still missing some good ones; I know there a couple Doctor's Wife rewrites (Sonic and I and someone else? maybe multiple someone elses?) in existence and that episode is always a pleasure since Rose and the TARDIS obviously adore each other, and I really want to read a reunion that takes place during or after "Hide." The line about "it's not a ghost story, it's a love story" and yearning across time and space... that's it. That's ElevenRose. I think one might exist but I keep losing the link.... Sorry for the novel-length answer but there are just so many good fics!

Okay this os a long one, but the first time I read about David was on TLND ( I miss fetus Mavid) and then I read LBAF and then you started writing adult David and suddenly the character I had in my head kinda shifted and since then I've been curious: Would David be attracted and fall in love with someone who isn't Max but is similar to him like Magnus would (although Max like Alec always be someone special that no one can compare to) or would he not, like Max wouldn't fall in love with anyone who isn't David (at least I think he wouldn't). I mean, you have mentioned a lot of times that David craves love (like Magnus), but in TLND, he was waiting for Max and didn't date anyone else. Was it because he had already met him and therefore knew that nobody else was it for him? So like, in Never Settle, he didn't know him, so he kept searching for love?

I kept trying to figure out why Other Max being the first Max to time travel is kinda scary and then I finally pinned it down: If he wasn't the first, that meant that everything he has done has been done before and everyone survived and no great evil took place. But if he is the first one, then we have no idea how everything he's doing will affect the people around him, what kind of consequences his actions will have. First off all, if he's the first one how did they ley lines get fixed in Other Max's timeline? How did Mallory die in his timeline? How did Victoria get pregnant? Also, him being the first means another very scary thing. That him and Max don't go through the same things, so there's no guarantee that Max will grow up to be Other Max, because his David has all his memories but his David also dates someone that makes Max insecure about himself and he feels jelous, something he hasn't felt for David, ever. So that has to have some impact on him, shape him in a different way, right? I mean did David in this timeline cry for 11 days when Lance was born or not because Other Max reassured him that he'll be okay? Is his behaviour and the fact that he doesn't get angry because of Other Max or did Other David react like this too? When I tell you that is the scariest plot you've ever written I mean it, and I love it I can't wait to see how everything will play out

Speaking of Other Max the "I need someone older" trend fitting David kinda scares me too, because it kinda suggests that Other Max is what David needs, more than Max himself which is gonna hurt a lot and especially if David voices that to Max, I fear his insecurities will get the best of him. Or you meant it to be funny and I'm here freaking out over nothing, look what you've done to us😂

Are there no demons in New York because they smell David's and Lance's demon blood and therefore see no shadowhunter or no threat? Is it because of Other Max protecting them or even because of Lucifer? Do I really believe you'll answer? No because, spoilers, but I wanted to ask regardless

One thing I desperately hold on to is that Rafael and Max hugged and they joined the party at the LBAF IV epilogue, so whatever happened they find their way around it, the amount of comfort this thought gives me, I can't even describe. Because Max loves his family more than anything and he likes parties and now that he can't have it it must hurt a lot

I need to hear the conversation between Malec about whatever is happening since they dreamed about Rosewood/Mavid living close to each other and now they can't even visit each other, I mean the scenes with those four together have always been my favourites and seeing them now hurts a lot too and oh, sweet sweet angst

Last angsty thought: Is Mavid living away from everyone in France in every reality a canon event because they were exiled from Idris? Like they never have a big wedding because they're not allowed in LBAF?

Okay, that was every angsty thought I've had. Now, there are only fluffy things in my notes and I prefer it that way so I'll share them later! I would like to mention once again that reading your fics is the only time I'm excited to feel pain, your power is truly unmatched🌷

FETUS MAVID OMG. Love it. I think David has a person is always searching for love. I never have and never will write him as someone who is 'looking for the perfect guy/max'. In some fics, Max is his first love and not in others. He will definitely date others before meeting max because he loves to give himself that chance to find that person. we do see that he has a type - which is basically max lol. but yes after he meets max, it's pretty much game over for him.

this point gave me an hernia (that's an easter egg for you btw). I'm very impressed by your observations and i wish i could tell you if you are right or not. i can't answer your questions either but i can tell you four things 1) all your questions will definitely be answered but you need to keep looking for them 2) mallory dies old and alone and waiting for max (in other max's timeline) 3) it was never said david cried for 11 days when lance was born. we don't actually know what other max was talking about there 4) i can confirm that it is the scariest plot line yes

i did not mean it in a funny way. we have a storm coming. can't wait for chapter 8

There’s a lot I want to talk about here so thanks, anon, for the ask.

First of, I have never understood this attitute some people have - like what IS the big deal about Alec having feelings for Jace? Why are some people so desperate to make up excuses about how he wasnt ~really~ in love and oh, he was just confused and oh no, he just doesnt know what romantic love is? Does having loved Jace previously somehow lesson or negate his feelings for Magnus now?

I mean if you’ve read some of my comments you probably know that I do think whatever he feels for Magnus isnt really on the same level as his feelings for his family, Jace included - meaning it’s far weaker. But that’s the issue of the writing failing to convince me Alec has these super strong feelings regarding his relationship and not of the mere fact that Magnus isnt the first man he might have been in love with.

I just dont get it. It’s not like Jace/Alec has ever been canon or will ever be canon. It’s not like the show is actually gonna make Jace return Alec’s feelings all of a sudden. It’s not like Magnus is gonna go off and move to Brazil and end their relationship or Alec breaking up with him because he’s decided to become a monk if he cant have Jace. So why are Alec’s previous one-sided already-forgotten-by-canon-even-if-it-doesnt-make-sense feelings still such a threat that people feel the need to deny them so vehemently even when Alec is supposedly in a “happy committed relationship with the love of his life”? What does it matter at this point if he was head over heels in love with Jace or just had a simple crush or was only confused?

And to be honest, this attitute isnt reserved just for Alec. Magnus also suffers from this with people claiming ALL of his ex-lovers were assholes who Just Didnt Love Him Right™ and how Alec is THE FIRST to treat him like he deserves and how Magnus has NEVER loved anyone the way he loves Alec. Which in Magnus’ case is even more ridicilous - both when fans say it and when the show itself is sort of trying to push it - since he has had 17k partners.

Anyway, point is this whole thing makes no sense. As dont your arguments about Alec choosing Jace because 1) he was “safe”? and 2) they had an emotional connection.

I mean correct me if I’m wrong and this has been stated in canon somewhere in s02 since I havent seen it all yet but going by what I do know Alec did not need an “emotional connection” to smile stupidly at Magnus the moment he got a good look at his face. He didnt need an emotional connection to accept his offer for drinks after meeting him once. He didnt need an emotional connection to clean his sofa and stay for drinks afterwards. Despite what the show likes to say, Magnus and Alec didnt really have any sort of meaningful emotional connection in s01 because they werent given the time to properly develop one. They had attraction, yes, but I find the claim that it was anything deeper than lust (maybe mixed with some mild beginnings of feelings) very misguided.

So in my opinion Alec doesnt need an emotional connection to be attracted to someone.

And what does safe even mean here? If Alec didnt want to come out, he wouldnt have done so regardless of who he was crushing on. Jace was no safer than any other guy at the Institute Alec might have found attractive (also I highly doubt there were NO other guys around that Alec could have developped a crush on). The fact that it was Jace doesnt mean there werent other options and things would have still played out in the exact same way, only without the parabatai angst. I dont think Alec would have acted on his feelings if the guy he had a crush on wasnt his parabatai if his refusal to give up his career and family honor to date Magnus is any indication.
