real talk in the tags for a second because i have a crush on a girl and i. a hehe. ahehehe.
will be burying this in reblogs and never touching on it again
#so random disclaimer this girl is like a year older than me and in high school it’s like a nono for older and younger batch to like be#a thing so i know i generally have no chance but i like to live in my own insanity and the progression of my crush on her has been absolute#ly cuckoo bananas. so like it started out as ‘i wanna be your friend’ and progressed into ‘shit they’re really pretty’ to ‘wow ur so??’ to#‘fuck i like them’ and then it died down and then by all golly it came back but more of a hallway crush now which is bearable bc i’m#not really a part of their life?? like we know each other but we don’t wave and shit and we don’t like ever interact that much so i was lik#ok this is fine bc they literally never think of me so i’m just admiring from afar. and the FIRST inciting incident was i request them onig#and i expect to not get accepted because according to their friends they onyl accept close friends and i’m like k this is a bad idea probs#but the worst that could happen is i get left in their follow requests right?? RIGHT?? but then within like two hours of reqing. lord.#i got. ACCEPTED. and they requested back. and suddenly it’s +1 tangibility like ok?? maybe we’re not as strangers as i thought we were#i later discovered i was not that special for this but also?? cool?? anyways for a while it kind of laid dead and we never spoke at all eve#tho i was in their acc now (at this time they barely posted but whenever they did it was so?? funny like they would slap the randomest shit#on that acc) and it was still a hallway crush altho my friends r awful (/pos) people who would always make me pass their hallway and i#would run into them so often but at this point we only ever like exchanged glances and they would walk right past me like i wasnt even ther#but THEN the second incident happened which was basically we had to play instruments for this christmas event thing and bc they’re literall#y amazing they played for it and i was roped into it and. i was so gay the whole time. bc who wears a leather jacket to school and gets the#prettiest haircut ever right on the last day before a long break?? and the worst part is whenevr something confusing happened they would#turn to me and this one other person and we’d b laughing together. like we r friends. and they’re so fucking nice they were checking up on#us the whole time i was literally dying i kept dropping my pick and stealing looks AURURUGH and they’re so gen funny and interesting i just#and the first few days of holiday break i just couldn’t stop thinking abt them it was so bad? like that was the moment where i was genuinel#like is this more than a hallway crush… eventually it died back down until the next event we had to play together where they were being SO#SO much more comf w me? like exchanging knowing looks when smt funny happens and that stuff.. at this point i didnt even know what to like#think of my crush on them so i just let it be yk. atp they’re not even waving at me in the hallways at all still so maybe they’re just bein#nice! BUT NO. THAT IS UNTIL I AUDITIONED FOR A BAND (theyr in charge of accepting) AND THEY ACCEPTED ME WHICH COOL BUT LIKE A DAY LATER I#HEARD FROM OUR MUTUAL FRIEND THAT THEY SAID ‘yeaa im so happy i got (my name)’ AS IN IN THE BAND. LIKE. HELLO?? HI U THIUGHT ABT ME?? and#during the first band mtg where everyone’s all awk they kept making eye contact w me and asking if i was good and making sure i got to say#smt before anyone made a decision and it. murdered. me. i’m sorry maybe it’s the fanfic writer in me or this shit is literally nothing and#think they’re just nice to everyone but who cares bc it means they’re nice to ME too. and then last week happened. which was like the nail#in the coffin. INTERACTION ACTIVITY. I IMPULSIVELY ASK IF THEY WANNA B GROUPMATES AND THEY SAY YES. THEY ONLY TALK TO ME AND THEIR FRIENDS.#I ACT STUPID. THEY ALUGH AND TOUCH MY SHOULDER. I ASK ABT THEIR CAMERA AND THEY GO ON A LONG-ISH (cute) RANT ABT SMTH. THEY ASK WHY I HAVE#BIG ASS STACK OF POST ITS. WE TALK. THEY LAUGH AT MY JOKES. SUDDENLY. THEY SAY A FULL HELLO IN THE HALLS. THEY WAVE AT ME A DAY LATER. FUCK

FADE INTO YOU.
Tumblr media
featuring: rookie!leon x fem stars agent!reader
synopsis: a collection of headcannons in which rookie cop leon has a crush on the reader, who’s a s.t.a.r.s agent
content warnings: harsh language; allusions to smut; make-out sessions; flirty reader; mostly wholesome content; canon divergent
notes: i was inspired by @darling-i-read-it when i saw the post abt Leon having a crush on a STARS agent and oml i haven’t stopped thinking about it so here i am yet again
now playing: Fade Into You by Mazzy Star
• Leon had just started his position as a rookie cop at the Raccoon City PD and he’s always given the worst little tasks and assignments
• one day though - about four days into his first week - he passes the STARS office on his way with boxes to the storage room and almost drops them all
• he sees without a doubt the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen in the STARS office, laughing at something the guy beside her said
• he has to pull himself together and take the boxes to storage room, his little heart hammering so fast the whole time
• Leon finally being introduced to you and the rest of the STARS team the next week when he’s instructed to take some paperwork to the STARS office
• he fell in love immediately when you walked to him, smiling widely, and taking the papers while introducing yourself
• he can hardly keep himself together as you walk him around the STARS office and introduce each agent to him
• he falls even harder when you scold each one, telling them all to be nice to him because he’s new
• after that, Leon always finds himself gravitating toward you any chance he gets — in the copy room, the kitchen, the shooting range
• you thinking he took a liking to you because you were one of the only ones who didn’t give him a hard time and to be honest, you didn’t really mind. he was sweet and totally lovable
• Leon honestly found it so insane how you were an absolute menace around the station
• like you would go around the office and flirt with a few officers to get them to do a task for you that you really didn’t want to do in the first place
• of course it always worked and they were all suckers for you
• and if he thought you were a menace on a daily bases, oh he was so surprised at how bold you were at holiday parties
• you would dance to the music in the most inappropriate ways possible for a work party
• and for some reason, it made him like you even more
• he also loved how you’d wear headphones with a walkman on your belt, and sing along, and dance to the music while you made copies or just walked around the station
• his crush on you was so bad, like next level bad
• in fact, you didn’t pick up on his crush on you at all. it was Jill who did. she never said a word of course, but she could just tell
• Leon always felt a little jealousy when he saw you talking to another agent, like Chris
• he knew you were out of his league, but he couldn’t help the hot jealousy in his chest as he would watch you laugh at something Chris said
• of course, he didn’t know that you’d rejected Chris when you first started working there and he asked you out a few times
• oh but Jill does. she loves to tease him for it, always reminding him of how you brutally shot him down
• and the teasing quickly becomes a problem when Leon walks by the STARS office one day and overhears Jill’s teasing
• of course, all Leon’s lovesick little brain processes are the words Chris, crush, and your name
• he doesn’t talk to you for two weeks. he ignores your jokes, your teases, your playful flirting (which he never ignores)
• until you finally get it out of him two weeks later in the shooting range
• he stammers and tells you he overheard Jill talking about you and Chris, and he likes you but it’s okay because he knows you don’t feel the same way, and you and Chris would be good together
• and you almost break then “oh, Leon, i don’t like Chris. Jill just likes to tease him because i rejected him when i started working here”
• Leon is obviously stunned “oh, uh, you don’t? sorry, i shouldn’t have said all that now i feel bad and -”
• “no, Leon. don’t feel bad. i actually kinda like you too you know…” you smiled sheepishly — which is pretty rare for you to be nervous
• Leon’s eyes widening to an unnatural size as he grins “you do? really? i didn’t think you’d like me i’m just a rookie.”
• “whether you’re a rookie or a trained professional, i like you. you’re really sweet and i know you’d treat me really well.”
• after that, you two start dating
• which is so fucking weird because a lot of the guys in the station — STARS and non-STARS — have been hitting on you and Jill since like the dawn of time
• it’s a little tense for Leon for a little while because a few other guys are even resentful you fell for a rookie and not them
• but of course Leon won’t say a word to them, so when he’s not around you put them in their place and tell them to leave him alone or you’ll fuck them up
• they are all obviously a little scared so they listen and start being nice - or as nice to a rookie as possible- to him again
• Leon always being so nervous and worrisome when you go in assignment
• seriously, he’ll worry himself to a point where he can’t sleep and he’ll nod off at his desk during the day
• when you finally get back, he always tells you how much he missed you and how worried he was and how he never wants you to leave him again
• but of course you always go on assignments. it’s a cruel cycle really
• you realize you were right — Leon did treat you so well. like a fucking princess honestly
• you believe you were so lucky that day when the lieutenant forced him to take paper work up to the STARS office
• Leon being literally the sweetest and best boyfriend you ever had and always making sure you’re okay and happy and safe
• but how could you not be happy? Leon is literally perfect to you and you couldn’t be happier with anyone else

do you have any ben/leslie headcanons! i love your posts abt them so much it's great to see someone get as emotional abt them as i am asjdkajhjd
i got this message and i was like "god, i dont really know if i have any headcanons" and then i opened my notes app and started typing and didn't stop for over an hour
i'm literally putting this under a break and organizing it into categories bc it's absurdly long
here it is
A COLLECTION OF BEN AND LESLIE HEADCANONS
PRE-RELATIONSHIP/S3
basically canon but leslie definitely had a crush on a young benji wyatt and followed the story religiously for the first couple months before she started college
ben is only slightly jealous leslie had ann go out with chris to try and get more money for the parks budget rather than leslie asking him out with the same goal. he knows it’s insane, unethical, and illogical but he’s still excited that he gets to spend the night with her on a date plus two other people even if it is to accuse her of bribery.
ann realizes early on that leslie was attracted to ben and teases her mercilessly about it. she thinks it’s absolutely hilarious that leslie wants to make out with "mean ben.” after april and andy’s wedding, she realizes it's more than just attraction and she lays off.
before ben can even think rationally about what he’s doing, he’s in line at bed, bath, and beyond with a crock pot in his arms, calling stephanie to ask her to send him their family’s chicken soup recipe
ann knew ben liked her from the beginning and was totally positive when she ran into him in the hospital asking for leslie’s room number while holding jj’s waffles and a tub of homemade soup.
ben realizes he’s falling in love with leslie when he is at city hall with her until 3am one night trying to budget for the amount of cotton candy machines she wants for the harvest festival. in his exhaustion, he naively believes her when she tells him she’ll go home in a bit so he leaves. he never gets a text from saying she made it home so he stops at jj’s the next morning and brings a takeout container of waffles and a coffee complete with an outlandish amount of whipped cream and sugar to the parks department. he finds her asleep in the conference room. he starts trying to convince sweetums to donate more cotton candy machines that afternoon.
chris had to have known ben liked leslie. he’s not an idiot. in the deleted scene from their wedding, they read out emails from their “tumultuous first week in pawnee” and chris writes to ben saying, “why are you so focused on leslie knope?” ben replies saying, “i’m not. whatever. shut up.” there’s no way chris is this oblivious. ben takes her out for a beer. ben pays out of pocket for a children’s performer to help her out. ben shows up on chris and ann’s date just because he thinks leslie might be there. chris can’t be this dumb. but when they take the city manager jobs in pawnee, he knows it can’t happen so he cuts ben off when he starts to ask about dating someone in city hall. he cracks down on the rule in front of leslie after the tom incident to hammer it in. he starts setting ben up on a bunch of dates to try and head it off. he sends them to indianapolis for the little league pitch because, realistically, he knows they’re the best bet for success but makes sure to interrupt their dinner and invites them to his apartment to continue to run interference the rest of the night. after their fights in 4.06-4.08, he hopes he won’t have to worry anymore. the next work day, they come into his office looking nervous and happy and he knows he’s about to lose the partner and best friend that’s been by his side for the past decade.
april and andy knew they were secretly dating. it went unspoken aside from a few implicit teasing remarks from april and a few suggestive attempted high fives from andy but leslie assured ben they wouldn’t tell anyone despite their ostensible behavior.
BREAK UP
ben had commissioned the li’l sebastian plush for leslie after he had died but the toy shop didn’t finish it until after they broke up. he felt bad not going to pick it up so he did despite not being able to give it to her. he kept it for all those months and sometimes thought about getting rid of it but could never bring himself to do it.
when leslie made personalized copies her books for her friends with individualized annotations and notes in the bylines, she had two copies for ben. there was one that she gave him during their breakup that was very simplified and watered down where the note basically just said “i’m really glad you decided to stay in pawnee.” then there was a second copy that she kept while they were split up that was totally covered in notes and random thoughts she couldn’t say during their time apart. she gives him that copy when they get back together and it may or may not be the best gift he’s ever received.
april was much less abrasive with them during the break up because she’s a sweetheart and wants her friends to be happy.
the first time leslie admitted she was in love with him was during a long night of drinking and crying at ann’s house
ben craved the taste of sugar during their breakup because he got used to tasting the sweetness when he kissed her
ben found himself unable to sleep at night without the sound of leslie talking in her sleep to comfort him
april texted leslie the night of the halloween party to let her know that ben and andy were at the hospital after a fight and everything was fine and she didn’t need to worry. leslie was mad at andy for a few days after and he couldn’t figure out why.
the only photo in ben’s bedroom was of himself, leslie, and li’l sebastian at the harvest festival. if he got caught staring at it and crying, he would just say he missed li’l sebastian so much.
april and andy started having star wars and star trek movie nights to try and cheer ben up
DOMESTIC
ben and leslie got in the habit of having weekly game nights with april and andy during the campaign since they were all basically living together. it became a tradition that kept going as often as they could make it happen, even after the kids were born. they try to have game night at least once a month. april pretends to hate it.
one of my absolute favorite ideas about them is that she sleeps much better when he’s around to keep her grounded. after they get together for good, she starts getting closer to 5 hours of sleep a night.
another favorite involving leslie’s sleeping: ben is typically accustomed to tuning out incoherent nonsense that she babbles in her sleep but she also has some of her best ideas when she’s not busy trying to focus on a million different things. when he hears her coming up with legitimately good ideas or making speeches or having solid debate arguments, he takes out the notebook he keeps in his nightstand to record her thoughts and quotes. he revisits and revises the notes to strengthen her statements and make them more professional and less rambling but makes sure to keep her distinct voice apparent in them.
ben prefers pancakes to waffles but he will go to the grave with that secret
this isn’t a headcanon because nbc posted it but one of ben’s holidays on leslie’s calendar is watch synchronization day which is the day they celebrate syncing their watches to, as leslie puts it, “always be in harmony, like our hearts” which is just one of the sweetest fucking things in the world
leslie makes ben read and watch all the harry potters because he didn’t get into them when he first tried. ben is much more of a success than ann. she buys him a ravenclaw scarf for christmas.
their first fight as a couple was a historical debate gone awry
since ben clearly has some affinity for custom stuffed animals, he has some made for the triplets.
they’re both dog people but they adopt a cat because sonia and stephen beg for one and it does fit their busy lifestyle much better. they love the cat. they get a dog when the kids are older and life is slightly less hectic.
they both love striped shirts and sweaters so much that they have to make a conscious effort to avoid wearing them on the same day and matching
leslie makes sweets and bakes desserts while ben typically handles cooking the actual meals
BASED ON EPISODES, QUOTES, AND THROWAWAY LINES
i always loved the ann/ben dynamic in bus tour because there’s been such an obvious shift in ann’s attitude towards him in this episode. maybe it’s because she and tom just broke up and she just turned chris down again and she’s frustrated with relationships but i think it’s her realizing ben isn’t going anywhere. since the campaign is winding down, she realizes that things aren’t gonna go back to the way they were because ben is now part of this and he’s clearly in it for the long haul. ann’s definitely jealous that ben is just as important to leslie as she is and she now knows she’s never gonna get that full attention back. ann sits ben down to have a real “don’t you dare hurt her” speech after this ep and before win, lose, or draw. this is when he tells ann he wants to marry her.
they discover they both adore the princess bride after ben says “as you wish” to her one night and after that it becomes their movie.
the wildflower mural becomes a thing between them when ben says he considered that to be their first date, prompting leslie to tell him what the mural means to her.
ben puts banjo boogie bonanza on one of the mix cds he gives leslie at the beginning of their relationship
harrison ford movie nights start after they both reveal they had a crush on him as a kid. ben was obsessed with han solo and leslie was into indiana jones’ whole history teacher vibe.
they basically hate each other’s taste in music and stop exchanging mix cds once that becomes apparent that they aren’t gonna find much common ground. they both love tom petty, al green, and etta james and music in that vein though.
ben makes leslie watch game of thrones just to try to explain why he’s called her khaleesi. she gets into it, not so much because of the show itself, but because of how passionate her boyfriend is about it.
they start learning basic french during the s4 campaign because they think it will be useful to have a basic multilingual vocabulary for their political careers and because leslie confesses she has always dreamed of seeing paris. they study spanish next.
ben makes leslie watch the star wars prequels just so he can complain to her during them. he doesn’t think she’s paying attention and then he reads about midichlorians in the paper.
ann is also in on ben’s plan to sneak vegetables into leslie’s waffles.
they will sometimes jokingly refer to themselves as the “dream team” or “dynamic duo” because, despite chris’s absurdity, it’s true
i’m open to literally any origin of this because no matter what it’s perfect but i like to think that “i love you and i like you” started at some point in season 4 when, at some point, leslie went “i like you” and ben replied “you like me?” “mhm” “hm just like me?” “yes i like you. i love you and i like you. both.” “mmm i love you and i like you too”
i barely even register some of these things as headcanons since they just live so solidly in my brain
this might be my favorite ask ever thank you for loving benslie enough to ask me this and be genuinely interested
if anyone read all of this, i love you

Ohhh Jumin with 1 for the Christmas prompts please? This local channel has a Hallmark Christmas movies marathon for the entire of December, I watched it when I can to get in the mood (and because I look for Jumin's alike in the love interest 👀). Thanks!
I wasn’t going to write this tonight but then I realized it was the exact brainless thing I needed rn. Everyday at 12 pm my mom gets excited and turns on Hallmark. It is on until 7 pm at least. So I know my hallmark
ALSO did you find Jumin’s alike ? Literally tell me what movie if so
Hallmark Movies - Jumin Han
This is from my Christmas / winter prompts !
Prompt: If you watch one more hallmark movie I’m pulling the plug on the TV
Warnings: this is a dumb warning but i talk abt the plot of some hallmark movies lol
Summary: you have to find some sort of pastime for when your husband is working. So it’s Hallmark. Glued to the couch all holiday season. Jumin hates when you swoon over those fictional men
You had December down like clockwork.
In the end of the year swing, C&R was constantly busy. They had to meet and surpass their yearly quotas. Your husband was always in meetings. This was the first time since getting married early that year that you had regretted your decision to become a stay-at-home housewife.
Jumin got ready for work at 6 am. His alarm went off at 5:50 so that he could wake up and get a few cuddles with you in bed before actually getting up. You woke up with him, planting kisses on his cheeks and asking for his daily itinerary and when you could expect him home for more cuddles. When he got up, you’d message the chef to start making him food. Jumin would tell you to stay in bed.
Jumin liked bringing you tea in bed in the mornings. Made him feel like the perfect husband. He’d get a kettle going as he got dressed and checked for any messages he may have gotten during the night. He’d deliver the tea to you, on a tray. You’d pour him a cup. He’d sit on the end of the bed and drink it. Talk about silly things.
He’d finish his cup, messaging Driver Kim he was ready for him. You’d tie his tie for him. He’d give you a goodbye kiss or two. He left by 6:45 am. You fell back asleep by 7 am, after Jumin messages you that he got to work safely.
You wake back up around 9. This time the chef brings up your breakfast. You’d lounge around in bed, answering emails for party guests, talking to the RFA, going on social media.
You were out of bed by 10:15, getting dressed, doing hair and/or makeup as you saw fit for the day. Jumin liked to lay out two outfits for you. If you didn’t want to wear either of them, that was fine. But if you did, it made him glow with pride.
You’d meet Jumin in his office for lunch together at 11. He’d tell you about the meeting he went to and Jaehee would sometimes come in and chat (which Jumin glared at her for doing). But primarily it was couples’ time. You liked to sit in silence, just enjoying each others’ company. At 11:30 you would head back to the penthouse.
And finally it was noon. Hallmark time. Since your husband worked long hours, you relied on the sexy Hallmark men to fill the void in your household. You laughed, you cried, you watched the same story over and over again but it was so special every time. As soon as Jumin got home, you’d turn off the movie and spend time with him, whether that be reading, cuddling, having dinner, going out somewhere; you let him choose. You didn’t feel the need to have a say. You already got to choose what you’d do throughout the day: Hallmark.
But one day Jumin got sick. Runny nose turned red from all the tissues he had been using, cups of tea gone through to help his sore throat. He was sick and absolutely unfit to go to the office. The schedule was messed up. He insisted he could take at least a half day, going in late and leaving early, and work from his home office. Okay. It was already 11. You’d just watch Hallmark when it came on.
Once the time came, Elizabeth the III sat on your lap (you were convinced she liked the movies too) and you cuddled up to watch the show.
Your phone rang. It was Jumin. You couldn’t pause the show.
You picked up regardless. “Hi Love. How are you feeling?” You asked.
He sniffled. “Bad. But I’m on my lunch break,” his tone brightened.
“...oh.” You hadn’t intended to say that aloud.
“Oh?”
“I’m watching a Hallmark movie with Elizabeth the III in the living room. Why don’t you come out here and eat with me?” Compromise. Elizabeth the III being on your lap meant you couldn’t possibly move.
“Okay! I’ll be right there.” He sounded cheery.
He came out of his office, a few tissues in hand, but a smile on his face. He had dark circles under his eyes. “You two look so cute,” he commented, walking over and taking a spot to sit next to you, wrapping his arms tight around you. He was always more clingy when he was sick.
“You’re so sweet Jumin. What do you say we ask the chef for some soup?” You kissed his cheek. He chuckled, which led to a coughing fit, then nodded.
“What’s happening in this Hallmark movie?”
“Oh!” You were only a half hour in, but you were excited to share the plot. “I’m so glad you asked. So this news reporter lady says she hates Christmas. And the ratings are bad because everyone thinks she sucks because of it. So the news station is sending her to a Christmas town to bring back her holiday cheer. She just got to the town,” you summarized. Kind of strange they were airing a movie from 2016, and one with Lori Loughlin at that (they had pretty much stopped showing her movies), but this was indeed a classic.
“Christmas town? Do those really exist?” Jumin asked curiously.
“I don’t know. Shh- this is the love interest!”
“He isn’t all that handsome,” Jumin commented. You glared at him. “What!? I’m just surprised they didn’t cater to their female audience more.”
“Jumin, my love. These stories are not just about the hot guys. They’re about the romance! The Christmas spirit! The holiday magic! If I just wanted one about hot guys I would watch the one with the firefighters.”
He seemed confused by your intense knowledge of hallmark movies. But! They were so good. You were so invested. And how dare he insult the love interest!
There was a knock on the door. The soup was brought over to the two of you on the couch. You thanked the staff and sent them off.
“I’m just confused about-“
“Shut up and eat your soup Jumin,” you teased. “Get ready to experience true romance.”
He didn’t experience much true romance in the half hour lunch break. But you had a great time with that movie.
Next up: A Christmas Detour. You loved Candace Cameron Bure! This time she was trying to get a flight to meet her fiancé’s parents before the wedding. But of course, her fiancée worked way too much for her to actually end out with him. This was Hallmark after all.
Jumin interrupted halfway through this one. His tie was off, his top button undone. “Baby?” He called to you, standing in the doorway of his office.
You rushed by his side. “What’s wrong?” You placed your hand to his forehead to feel his temperature. He was kind of warm. “Are you okay?”
“Will you make me some tea?” His voice was hoarse. You felt so bad that he was overworking himself even when he was sick. It was 3 by now; how long was he planning to work?
“Of course I will.” You kissed his cheek. “Why don’t you rest for a few minutes while I make it?”
He groaned, agreeing, and plopped down on the couch while you went off to the kitchen to make the tea.
“Why are the people different?” He called to you. He must be watching the Hallmark movie.
“Oh! It’s another one.” You got to work putting the kettle on and taking out the cream and sugar. You walked back to stand by him as you waited.
She finally made it to meet the parents! What an exhausting journey. Ew... they seemed kind of... stuck up. Rich. Filthy rich. Did they really ask her to go to the bathroom and make herself more presentable before they did introductions? How terrible.
“They always make the rich people seem like bad guys,” Jumin grumbled.
You sat down on the arm of the sofa, leaning into him, running a hand through his hair. “Actually, there are some where the girl ends up with the CEO.”
“Her current boyfriend that she leaves is usually the CEO though.” Had he been paying attention to these movies? How did he know this?
“Well... that’s only the ones who work way too much and are like zero fun at all. Then she falls for the local guy,” you explained.
He turned to look at you, eyes all red and watery. “Do I work way too much?”
“No.” You gently placed a kiss to his lips. “You are nothing like those jerks.” The tea kettle whistled; you got up to go get it. “If local homebody was my type, I would have gone for Zen, not you,” you called over your shoulder.
You hadn’t realized he had followed you until his arms wrapped around you as you took the tea off. “Zen’s not your type,” he whispered, his voice a bit deeper than usual. Was he... jealous? You were literally his wife.
“I know,” you turned to face him. “You’re my type. I’m quite literally married to you.” You broke out into a smile, reminding yourself of that fact. Your smile was apparently contagious, because he did the same.
“You never considered dating him though... right?”
“Zen?” You poured the tea in the cup.
“Zen.” His voice was steely.
You giggled. “Of course not. Zen is literally dating himself all the time. I was attracted to you because of how different you are from the others in fact.”
That had convinced him. His face softened. You handed him his tea. “Exactly to your liking,” you smiled.
“I love you. I’ve got two more meetings then I’m all done.” He kissed your cheek then made his way back to the office. Time for more Hallmark.
( YALL MY UPDATE FINALLY HAPPENED ITS SO HARD TO FINISH WRITING THIS AND NOT RUN TO BE 2 JUMIN HAn )
That movie had ended. “A Christmas Love Story” was now on. These two meetings must have been long.
And finally. Finally. He came out. Collapsed onto the couch. You glanced at him and smiled. Then back at the tv. Things were getting tense in the movie!!
“I’m done,” he whispered, a lazy smile on his face as he looked at you.
You glanced at him again. “Yay. I’m so proud of you Honey.”
“Another Hallmark movie?” He sighed.
“This is what I do all day when you’re at work,” you informed him, giggling.
“But I’m not at work. I’m home now.” He scooted closer to you.
“But! I’m in the middle of it. The guest choir director just found out the kid who is getting a solo is her son that she put up for adoption! That’s insane.”
His arms wrapped around you, one hand lingering towards the remote.
“Jumin don’t turn it off!” You whined. He snatched the remote and moved away from you. “Nooooo!”
“Can’t we just cuddle and take a nap? I still don’t feel good.” His finger was hovering over the off button. NO
“Jumin, Baby, please, please, no.” You inched closer to him. “I’m begging you. Please. I need to know what happens.”
“She gets with the love interest and everything ends happily,” he stated simply.
“I need the details! Please!!! I’ll do anything!”
That got his attention.
He quirked an eyebrow. “Anything?”
“Oh get your mind out of the gutter. You’re sick.” You rolled your eyes. Still, you were planning how to get the remote back.
“What about when I’m not sick? Can I cash it in then?” He had the widest smirk on his face. Sometimes you just hated your husband.
“Yes! God, yes Jumin fine. Please! Be quiet and let me watch this in peace!”
He set down the remote. You were safe.
“Fine. But if you watch one more hallmark movie I’m pulling the plug on the TV.”
You laughed at that. Of course you wouldn’t. You just wanted to watch this one, then he’d have your attention.
“Cuddles?” He asked. He was pitiful. You loved your sick husband oh so much though.
You sighed, pretending like it was an impossible hassle, but your smile gave it away. “Yes. Cuddles are okay.”
He triumphantly laid down, resting his head on your lap, grabbing onto your hand. You might’ve watched Hallmark for the rest of the night, but he was watching something much better: you.

Star Tear AU - Alt. Timeline: Todoroki ver. [Part 1]
This is an AU I wrote on the todomomo discord server eons ago. Anything posted to this blog will be transcripts of old original work and not really edited, save for formatting. I have no guarantees if I will ever finish these AUs either so these will only be kept as an archive.
Original transcript posted to tdmm discord: Aug 2020
Momo ver. Alternate timeline: Todo ver. Part 1 || Todo ver. Part 2 || Todo ver. Part 3
Star tears in which Todoroki falls for Momo first.
shortly after the exam with Aizawa he doesn’t know what he’s feeling but just admires her strength and quick thinking
and him hanging out with Deku and Iida at lunch means Todo hears all the nice and good things Momo does when she and Iida to discuss class prez stuff
which intensifies this ??admiration?? and respect more
and he just?? Holds onto those feelings unable to figure out what they are until idk maybe holidays where 1A and 1B throw that holiday hotpot party
and Momos really cute lookin’ in that Santa hat she made with the festive turtleneck
and so that feeling inside Todo grows into something more??? bc "oh shit she cute".... and Todo’s blushing while looking at her from afar. Probably.
so Todo talks to Fuyumi abt it and Fuyumi’s like: “I think you like her Shouto”
and he writes to his mom abt it and Rei's like: “she sounds like a lovely girl Shouto”
and he texts Natsuo abt it and Natsu's like: “aw little bro has a crush”
but all the while this is happening, Momo's gotten closer with Iida over class prez stuff and hero stuff and everyone in 1A (read: mina and hagakure) think iimomo might be a thing???
ofc Momo denies it and making excuses politely like "no no ofc not we're being responsible class prez and vice prez" but she’s kinda stuttery while doing so, so no one buys it
and no ones brave enough to ask Iida except Ochako but he gives some straight laced answer like "i admire her work ethic and respect her as a hero and vice prez" but he also has some tint of blush across his cheeks
so idk fast forward to graduation where Todo's been holding onto these feelings for Momo since first year and iimomo is still very very likely
so its all cherry blossom petals flying around and congratulatory celebrations
and when Todo sees Momo amongst the sakura trees smiling like he's never seen before (bc they're finally officially heroes!!) he thinks she’s beautiful
but just as he's about to approach her, Iida approaches her and Todo can see she's blushing and he knows its really not good to eavesdrop on one of his best friends and the girl he likes
But... he's curious.
or so he lies to himself.
Ofc what he hears isnt what he ever wants to,,,,
cuz Iida just confessed to her.
and she feels the same.
and a star tear slips from Todo's eye as he walks away.
he stops mid step as he touches his cheek bc he didnt even realize he was crying
but what are these tears??? What’s happening?? He's never had these before bc even though Todo is an emotional crier, he doesn’t cry that often.. only when he is completely overwhelmed with emotion
so he has this dumbfounded expression staring at his fingers as these star tears are twinkling out of his eyes catching sunlight and sakura petals
until he hears "Youre a fucking idiot" from a few steps away
Bakugou.
(Baku really likes eavesdropping ok its not the first time lol)
Baku: theyre called star tears.
Todo: You know what these are?
Baku: it happens when you like someone and that person doesnt like you back, idiot.
Todo: ... oh.
Baku: get that shit sorted or you'll go blind
(And for those who are curious, yes maaaayyybe Bakugou has a case of the stars in this timeline too, that’s how he knows. To whom? I'll let you decide bc honestly, I just want todobaku brotp bonding over unrequited love)
so now Todo thinks he might be fucked. One of his best friends confessed to the girl he likes too and she likes him back and now Todo has this disease that might make him go blind and might get in the way of heroing (which they've all secured post graduation positions by now) and what can he do about it?
nothing, says the doctor he sees. The disease is not curable and the only way to stop it is to have your feelings returned else you'll go colour blind and then completely blind, so he's told.
ya he's really fucked.
maybe its a good thing then, that he doesnt cry often. It makes it easier to ice over these feelings, freeze them in time with the memories of U.A.; of his last congratulations to her and her smile at the end of the ceremony an hour after he overheard that confession
maybe its another good thing that right after graduation, everyone went off to their own positions as side kicks with agencies across japan, focusing on heroing
but its 3 months after graduation that Iida tells Deku and Todoroki that he is seeing Momo when they meet up every Friday to catch up
its 6 months after graduation that its publicly announced in Hero Magazine that Ingenium and Creati are dating
its 9 months after graduation that he sees Iida and Momo attending the Hero Association's rising stars gala as a couple and are seated at the same table as them
(Bakugou is scowling at him across the table.)
Todo tries. He really does. To be happy for them.
but he's angry at himself that he can't be happy for them. That it saddens him to see Momo glowing under the ballroom lights but its not himself to make her shine like that, its Iida. That he sees she is the one to make Iida genuinely happy in the way his eyes light up when he smiles at her.
and all three times Todo goes home, lies down alone in his room, an arm slung across his forehead as the star tears leak from his eyes.
he starts to lose seeing colour at 12 months.
after 24 months he needs glasses for colour correction (and ironically gets a sponsorship with the brand. The fashion magazines print headlines for weeks "Hot-Cold Hero Shouto Fall Fashion! See page 7 spread for his newest spotted specks and turtle necks")
at 36 months Iida breaks the news. Iida's gonna propose to Yaoyorozu and wants him, Deku, and his brother to be his groomsmen
she said yes.
and a part of Todo washes away with the star tears flooding him room and twinkling against the tatami.
he tries to stay out of the wedding planning as much as possible. He'll go to the tuxedo fittings as requested and still keep up hearing the updates when seeing Iida and Deku for their weekly get together on Friday nights.
But for anything involving Momo's presence, there will always be a "sorry i have a mission that week", "sorry im visiting my mom", "sorry Endeavor needs to see me about the agency"
... all excuses Bakugou knows, but the others pay no mind. They are rising heroes near the top of the billboard by now
month 48. Wedding day.
she's stunning. Gorgeous. A near goddess walking down the aisle on her big day.
but she's not walking down for him. No its for iida.
there was the ceremony, the cheers, the congratulations, the reception. Fairy lights around the dance floor and along the walls, champagne glittering after the sound of a cork
Todoroki stands off to against the wall as the night dies down, a glass in hand, watching the newly weds grace the dance floor.
someone slides up beside him, he feels the presence. Bakugou.
"She's beautiful isnt she?"
"Yeah."
. . .
a star tear falls from Todoroki's eyes, twinkle hidden among the fairy lights and champagne glitter.
she's beautiful, but maybe its a good thing I can't see
somebody said: what if she knows everything that had happened and the reason why he couldn't continue his career is bc of her?
me: ok you’re asking for it
Momo, 3 months pregnant with iimomo baby, announces with Iida the news to their friends
the soon to be parents want to choose godparents for the baby so Iida gets to choose the baby’s godmother and Momo gets to choose the godfather
and ofc along with the announcement Momo asks Todoroki to be the kid’s godfather
he can’t say no to her.
the same week later Todo and Momo's agencies are requested to deal with this one villain case while Ingenium's agency deals with another in another town (later turns out the cases were connected)
small talk, civil, very professional between Momo and Todo when they’re in the debriefing
at this point Todo's pretty much completely blind and uses some special contact lenses from Hatsume to help "see"
but the contact lenses can only do so much as to detect light movement and shadows and it reallllllllly doesnt work well when he's using his fire
so Todo already had tossed around the idea of running away to the mountains like Roy did in the FMA 2003 ending, "mysteriously" retiring bc really his vision cannot keep up
until this last mission with Momo
and really its been nearly a decade now since they last worked together side by side (not since U.A. he thinks).. so just let the blind man be selfish one last time
and so smth smth missiom happens, Todo and Momo fighting side by side
but Momo senses there’s something off with Todo's movements? His reflexes are slower.. it doesnt seem like he's prediciting the opponents moves like he used to.. he's more so reacting and retaliating than attacking..
she chalks it up to that they havent fought side by side in a long time and his style must’ve changed and really, she doesnt know him anymore... not like she used to
smth smth 3 months pregnant Momo gets hurt, knocked unconscious for a bit
Todo saves her
and when she comes to, while Todo's holding her, star tears fall onto her cheek from Todo's eyes.
She's shocked. Reaches up to gently graze a finger tip at his left cheek.
"Todoroki-san, these are?"
and again its like Todo didnt realize he was crying. He jerks away from her hand and brushes her off with "its nothing”. Changes the subject with "are you ok?"
Momo: yes.. i think so
Todo: and the baby?
Momo, sitting up: we're ok I think
Todo, moving away: good
the mission concludes and they meet up with Ingenium’s group to wrap up the two ends. Todo slips away before Iida and Momo and approach him
theres no activity from Todoroki for the next month
neither Iida, Deku or anyone else in 1A know where he went except the Hero Association's vague comment on "Hot Cold Hero Shouto has taken a sudden indefinite hiatus"
(Only Todo’s family knows and Endeavor asked the Association to say "hiatus" instead of "retirement" bc Enji wants to believe in his son making a comeback. He didnt stop Shouto from taking off)
and ofc Momo upon hearing this is so confused??? Her last mission with him was the last time she saw him and he was crying. Why was he crying? Strange star tears twinkling and landing on her cheeks? What even is that phenomenon?
its too many questions and ofc Momo's gonna investigate. For the sake of her friend.
so she digs up all the texts she can find on star tears. Internet search all the possibilities. Consults the doctors at the hospital. Even asks Tenya if Todoroki has been acting strangely during their weekly catch ups.
but Tenya tells her Todoroki hasnt been the the meet ups since after their wedding
so she asks anyone in their pro hero circle of associates she can think of. Tsukiyomi, Burnin', heros from his agency, anyone she can think of that has worked with Todoroki before and could comment on his behaviour
no body knows. No body noticed anything different either. Sure there were some off days but the Hot Cold Hero Shouto was always on his game being one of the top 3 heroes on the billboard charts
she searches and searches, splitting time interviewing colleagues and researching the possible star tears phenomenon
until eventually her search takes her to...
Bakugou.
Of course.
Momo, pleading: please Bakugou, you know something about him dont you?
Bakugou, who at this point had been very careful trying not to get cornered knowing her investigation: save it pony tail, you’re about to have a baby. Go have people harass you about that brat in your oven instead of harassing other people
Momo, nearly begging: please. You and I both know he's strong and a good hero that would not suddenly retire. Whatever he is doing, he might need help.. please tell me Bakugou.
... theres something about pregnant women that you cant say no to.
Bakugou, relenting: tch. The half ass is somewhere in Yokohama
and thats all she needs nearly running waddling (as fast as a pregnant woman could) out the door
Bakugou, calling out after her, still reluctant: when find that half ass, i suggest you throw him a gift. Literally. Throw it at him. He deserves it.
she finds him along the port, watching the sunset in Yokohama (its really not that hard to find someone with heterochromia and two tone hair in a city, especially if youre a hero that knows what methods heroes will use to go incognito)
and for some inkling of a feeling, Momo takes Bakugou's advice. She has a carton of strawberry milk in hand.
Momo, a few feet away from him: Todoroki-san, it's been a while.
Todo, turning his head in her direction: Yaoyorozu...?
Momo, sadly smiling: the sunset is beautiful here isnt it?
Todo, brows furrowing: .. sure. Yaoyorozu what are you doing here--
Momo, interrupting him: --i brought some snacks. Strawberry milk, you liked this while we were in school right? Catch.
she tosses it at him.
he tries to reach out.
But he'es completely off. And misses
Momo, sad: Todoroki-san. You're blind, arent you?
Todo, guilty: ah.
Momo, tearing up: will you please tell me?
he still can say no to her and confesses his story
and when he's finished telling the tale of star tears, the stars above are twinkling too
she's crying and choking and sobbing through tears and its intensified by baby Iida with pregnancy hormones
But the last thing she manages to croak out at the very least is still wholly her
She apologizes
“Im so sorry Todoroki- san. I cant love you that way.”
“I know.”
END NOTES:
red is the last color Todoroki wanted to lose because it reminds him of Momo
during missions, as long as he could see her, “that’s ok” he thought. she is the only one he sees in color. that is okay with him
to him, Momo is his shining star. And there’s something tragically poetic of him losing his sight to the stars if its for his shining star Momo
He leaves the last stars in a tiny little jar like those paper stars as a gift for her with just the words on a note "goodbye Momo" the day after she finds him in Yokohama
Momo has the jar of stars forever on her bedside and looks at them with this melancholy expression. Baby Iida grows up and asks mom: "what is that jar of stars?"
Momo responds: "a gift from someone that was blinded by love"
Bakugou in this timeline had a case of star tears too but I'd like to think he got his feelings requited so he never went blind to contrast Todo
So thats why Baku is (begrudgingly) sympathetic to Todo cuz he thinks: “that could’ve been me”
The ending shot of a blind Todoroki in a dark room, all alone, eyes closed, thinking back to Momo's shining smile from UA surrounded by star light with a sad smile on his face and it fades to black

when hands touch (2/?)
wht masterlist
pairing: bucky barnes x reader
word count: abt 1800
summary: a pair of two best friends, bucky barnes and y/n live in the same apartment building, just across the hall from one another. it is only natural that they spend a majority of their time together.
a/n: fookin soft shite, next part is going to be halloween-related hehe
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
“You owe me.”
You wake up to Bucky’s voice. Husky and faraway sounding. Blindly you reach in the space beside you, but he is not there. The sheets still feel warm, he’d only just woken up.
“Owe you for what?” You croak, refusing to open your eyes.
“For trying to kill me last night.”
The broccoli incident.
“But you lived.”
“That’s not the point, Y/N.”
You turn onto your stomach and pull the duvet over your head. “You’re weak.”
“Being susceptible to the effects of poison has nothing to do with physical strength,” he points out. You can feel him climbing onto the bed, the mattress dipping with his weight. “How long do you plan on staying bed anyway?” he asks.
When you don’t answer him he slides beneath the duvet too where it’s warm and he can see your face. He lies close to you, his head resting on the very edge of your pillow. Still, you keep your eyes shut.
His fingertips seem timid at first, his touch barely there, a whisper. He touches your brow bone, and ghosts across your hairline. Then he gets brave, maybe even a little impatient, and uses his thumb to swipe upwards at the skin of your eyelid, forcing your eye open.
You see his face, grinning with a juvenile mischief that makes you smile too. You hide it by turning your face into your pillow and feigning annoyance.
“This is why you can’t keep a girl, Buck. You’re annoying as hell.”
“This is why you can’t keep a man, you’re always annoyed as hell,” he mocks, propping head up with one hand.
“Speakin’ of girls, how’s Marissa?”
“Melissa.”
“Same thing. How is she?” Without thinking you reach out and rake your fingers through his hair, smoothing it out of its bedhead state. Neither of you notice the way he inclines his head towards your hand, leaning so naturally into your touch.
“How would I know?”
You roll your eyes. “You’ve been seeing her for like four months, what do you mean how would you know?”
“I don’t keep tabs on her.”
“She’s your girlfriend.”
“We don’t like labels.”
“You don’t like labels,” you correct him.
“Neither does she.”
Finally you turn your head to look at him once again. His mouth still quirked crookedly and his eyebrows raised in an attempt at achieving the look of innocence. “Your breath is awful,” you say.
“Yours isn’t so fresh either, gorgeous.”
You both laugh. He tugs the blanket from over your heads and you both take in a deep breath. The air is cool and the room is brighter than you had expected it to be. Your thick duvet filtered out the light until it had been nothing but a dim glow. You throw your arm over your eyes.
“What time is it?”
“It’s eleven thirty.”
“See, it’s not that late, Buck,” you whine.
“It’s late enough. I’m hungry.”
“You have a home.”
“A home with no food.”
You make a noise that’s halfway between a grunt and a groan and he laughs.
“No, it’ll be fun,” he talks quickly, touching your elbow, “Listen, we can go for a quick slice or something and then didn’t you say you had to go grocery shopping or something.”
You peek at him from beneath your arm, brows knitting together. “Since when do you care about grocery shopping?”
“Since forever! This place is where I get most of my meals.”
“You’d die without me.”
“I would,” Bucky flashes his pearly whites and presses a loud smack of a kiss to your cheek. “I’ll be back in fifteen, alright?”
You wonder if the heat of his lips has left a mark on your skin.
Forty five minutes later the two of you were walking side by side down Fulton Street, large slices of greasy pizza in your hands. It’s chilly out, but that’s how the both of you like it. Just cold enough for a hat and maybe some gloves. On your head is one of the beanies you had purchased for Bucky two years ago. He typically wore baseball caps, but every now and then he’d slip a beanie on just to appease you. Today was not one of those days.
“What’s the matter with you?” You finally ask. The question had been lingering on the tip of your tongue for the past hour.
He makes a face and shrugs. “Nothing...What’s the matter with you?” A smile curves at his mouth. He’s lying.
“You’ve been oddly quiet,” you say in a sing-song tone, glancing up at him. The tip of his nose is pink with the autumn chill.
He takes a bite out of his pizza, stalling, and struggles with the melted, stringy cheese.
“Buck, c’mon.”
Bucky’s smile grows wider. “What? I said nothing!”
“I knew something was wrong with you the minute you showed up with all that food yesterday, so just spit it out. What’s wrong? Did something happen?” You urge. “Is it your mom? Are you sick?”
He stays silent, there are crinkles by his eyes.
“Oh God,” you say, grinning too at your sudden realization. “Is it...Marissa?”
“Melissa.”
“Same thing! Is it her?” You have to stop yourself from laughing. “Oh—It’s her isn’t it? Did y’all breakup?”
“Yes.”
“Yesterday? Before you came over?”
He makes a face and tilts his head up to the sky in a show of mock exasperation, “Yes.”
“So that’s why you’ve been acting like such a crybaby,” you frown sympathetically, looping your hand beneath his arm to gently rub his bicep. “Aw,” you coo, “That’s so cute.”
Bucky rolls his eyes, but his smile never leaves his face. He looks down at you. You’re wearing his hat and eating his favorite pizza. You are grinning widely and seem so amused by the unfortunate turn of his so-called ‘relationship’, touching him in that friendly and sympathetic way of yours. You think you have him all figured out...but you don’t. How would you ever know that he had broken up with Melissa last week? How could you know that he had now decided that the breakup was the perfect excuse? The perfect reason to spend more time with you? You couldn’t know and you wouldn’t know because he would never tell you.
“I thought you didn’t get heartbroken over girls.”
“I usually don’t.”
Through a mouthful of crust and melted cheese, “You must’ve really liked her then, huh?”
“Doesn’t matter,” he sighs, and you only halfway believe him. It’s typical of him to say something like that.
“Wanna bake cookies when we get home?”
“See, who needs a girlfriend when I’ve got you to do corny shit with?” He looks down at you fondly, bumps you gently with his arm. “Maybe I should date you.”
“In your dreams, cowboy.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to carry anything?”
“Just hurry up and open the fucking door before my arms fall off.”
When you get the door open, after jiggling at the janky doorknob for what felt like forever, Bucky stumbles his way to the kitchen, and thrusts the brown paper bags of groceries onto the counter.
“Watch my eggs, dumbass!” you call from the other room.
“I did, they’re fine,” he lies in return.
After shedding his coat and shoes he leans against the counter and watches as you move back and forth through the kitchen, putting away groceries while simultaneously leaving out ingredients for cookies.
“You know,” you begin as you place a blue mixing bowl on the counter, “I still can’t believe you and Mar—Melissa,” you right yourself this time, “broke up. Did you break up with her or she broke up with you?”
“She broke up with me,” he lied coolly. When you turn to look at him he allows his face to drop just a little, really putting on a show. It’s hard to keep his satisfaction at bay when he sees your sympathetic expression.
“Why? What’d you do?”
His brows furrow, he mocks surprise, “Why do you assume I did something wrong?”
“Because you probably did.”
“She just said it wasn’t going to work out or something like that. I was too hurt to really listen to her.”
“That’s your problem right there,” you grab the eggs that sit just behind him on the counter and thump his forehead in passing, “You don’t fucking listen.”
“I do too.”
“Not to her you don’t.”
“I listen to you.”
“Yeah...like twenty-nine percent of the time.”
“Pretty sure it’s at least thirty-four percent, doll.”
“Either way, this isn’t about me, this is about you and Marissa.”
“Melissa.”
“Dammit, I thought I had it...Are you gonna try to win her back?” You bring the mixing bowl to the counter he leans against, so you can look at him while you mix.
“I might, I don’t know. Probably not, I think there’s someone else.”
“You’re joking right?”
“Nope.”
You lift a brow and narrow your eyes, your mixing coming to a slow halt. You hold each other’s gaze for a long moment. There is a twinkle in his eye. Who will smile first?
It’s Bucky, and his smile is like the sun. You cannot help but grin too.
“Just put the chocolate chips in, dumbass.”
You wonder if he was serious about that other girl.
You sit atop the counter after mixing in the chocolate chips, watching as Bucky rolls the sticky mixture into spheres between his hands. He drops them down onto the parchment paper covered tray with a plop.
“There’s this party I’ve got to go to for work next Friday—” he pops a bit of cookie dough into his mouth “—I was going to bring Melissa, but, uh, you know...So do you wanna come? It’s a costume party, we can do one of those couple costumes you’ve always wanted to do.”
Halloween was the holiday that the two of you looked forward to the most. It gave you both an excuse to laze around with one another and eat candy while watching scary movies. A few times you had tried to convince Bucky to actually go out to a party and get dressed up, but somehow every year he had managed to convince you to stay at home with him and watch movies all day.
“You were going to bail on me on Halloween for a costume party?”
Bucky grinned. Like an asshole. “It’s not on the actual day of Halloween, so it doesn’t count.”
“Right,” you nod skeptically. “Well how come all of the sudden you want to go to a costume party? You hate dressing up?”
“Look, doll, you wanna go or not?”
“Fine,” you huff.
“Alright,” his voice is a slow drawl as he grins triumphantly, “That’s my girl.”

» 6,006 words
Your first day of kindergarten had left such a deep impression on you that you could still remember it fairly clearly. You had been almost three, and watching your mother leave had made you cry, which wasn’t exactly rare to happen there. You had stayed by the window for a long time, crying and hoping your mother would come pick you up soon, no matter how much the adults tried to kindly tell you that she would come in the afternoon.
The tears only stopped when your shoulder was tapped and you had turned around to see a boy of your age, smiling brightly.
“Come play with me. My mom left, too, but she’ll come back. Come on.”
And that was how you had met Lee Chan, your future best friend.
None of the first mornings at the kindergarten were easy for you, but Chan made them a lot better by playing with you and making it apparent that he wanted to be your friend. Playing with him made you forget about how much you missed your mother, and because you were new and you got along with him, you wanted to be his friend, too.
Both of your parents picked up on your friendship soon, whether it was because you two were always playing together whenever they picked you up or because you talked so much about each other and how you were friends at home. It didn’t take long for you two to have regular play dates, and you also invited each other to your birthday parties, where you were tightly together, too.
Simply put, you became best friends rather soon and stuck side by side throughout kindergarten and preschool, and would do so for many years to come.
Somewhere during preschool, however, you were surprised to have your mother ask you something that would have you think about everything in a new light.
“So, darling… do you like Chan?”
She had been folding the laundry and sounded casual while asking that, and you turned to look at her in surprise, putting aside the simple children’s book you were reading here and there. “He’s my best friend, of course I like him.”
Your mother had turned to look at you meaningfully, a warm smile on her lips. “I meant as more than a friend. We’ve noticed the way you look at him, and we were just wondering…”
“Who’s we?” you asked, focusing on the less important part rather than the fact that apparently you had a specific way in which you looked at Chan. Had he noticed?
“Your father and I, Chan’s mother, the preschool teacher…” your mother hummed and laughed good-humoredly when you hid your face in the nearest pillow and groaned dramatically. Putting the laundry away, she sat next to you on the couch you were lying on and stroked your back. “Honey, it’s fine, crushes come and go. It’s completely fine.”
Yeah, crushes came and went, but yours stuck with you for the next thirteen years.
After that discussion, you began thinking about it more, and realized that you may or may not have had a small crush on Chan. It was all kinds of pure and innocent - you were only six, after all - but you decided already then that you would never let him know about it.
Your friendship was more important than a flimsy crush that would eventually go away.
Time passed, and you and Chan were happy to be in the same class when you entered primary school. The teacher soon figured that you two should not sit next to each other unless they wanted to have you chatting throughout every lesson, but neither of you minded too much: you spent the breaks together, anyway.
As you grew older, you and Chan only got closer, although you also had your fights. Sometimes one of you would feel left out; sometimes he’d get upset after you beat him at a game; sometimes one of you just had a bad day, and sometimes there were simply misunderstandings that you solved fast and continued as though nothing had ever happened. None of the small quarrels tore you apart from each other, and instead brought the two of you closer to one another.
Even your crush on him got stronger as time passed, which wasn’t necessarily what you wanted to happen. You thought he was really cute and cool, and loved seeing him dance as he picked up interest in it. Whenever he was sick, you worried about him, and would help him with schoolwork if he wasn’t fully on track. Naturally he was also incredibly kind to you, being a good-hearted boy who thought of you as one of the most important people in his life, and it made you happy. He never left a favor unreturned, and took similar care of you as you did of him.
Still too pure to think too deep into it, you simply enjoyed the hugs you got from him and gave him, as much as they made you feel butterflies yet were simply an act of friendship to him.
It wasn’t until you entered middle school that you realized that especially with your feelings growing stronger, the one-sided nature of them would eventually hurt you: Chan was starting to get interested in people in a romantic way, and when he first whispered to you that he had a crush on someone, your heart jumped to your throat, only to sink back down when Chan told you who it was on. Naturally, you though, it was not on you.
“That’s nice,” you told him, forcing a smile to your face, and held back a deep sigh when the object of his crush walked past the two of you and you had to witness the smitten look on his face.
“It feels so nice,” Chan sighed dreamily, a serene smile on his face, and turned to you with a wide smile. “I hope you find someone you like soon, too.”
“Sure,” you managed to say despite your heart hurting and wanting to tell him that you had already liked him for seven years.
He tilted his head a little at your ingenuine tone and expression, but was soon distracted by the teacher entering the class. “I’ll talk to you again after the lesson.”
You only nodded, sighing when Chan left to his own seat, and looked at your notebook absentmindedly. Now that you knew who he liked, you couldn’t help but pay attention to how much he looked at them, and you could only wish he would look at you with such a warm, adoring gaze.
In all honesty you had known it was bound to happen sooner or later - with how many confessions he had gotten, you thought it impossible for him to not like someone eventually. For the sake of your own heart, you just hoped that he wouldn’t start dating before you got over your silly little crush.
You got your share of confessions, too, and after turning down one, you had Chan running to you. You were in ninth grade, practically counting days until the summer holidays, after which you’d enter high school.
“Why did you turn him down? He really likes you, and he’s not too bad, either, is he?” he asked, genuinely curious, and got his arm around your shoulders, which made your heart flutter.
“It’s too early to start dating,” you mumbled, avoiding Chan’s gaze, and sighed. “And besides, I like someone else.”
“He must be a lucky guy,” Chan smiled widely and squeezed your shoulder lightly. “You need to tell me who he is sometime.”
“We’ll see,” you said with a small smile, although your heart felt heavy. Even after all those years, you still weren’t ready to tell him - not when you had regular sleepovers and knew practically all of each other’s secrets. It was all too precious to be ruined: by the age of fifteen, you had some knowledge on the possible outcomes of confessing to your friend, and you didn’t want to take chances.
By the time you finally entered high school, you were officially smitten for Chan. Your cheeks would heat up in his presence a lot, and you were getting more and more conscious over the fact that he was attractive and that you really wanted to kiss him.
He had yet to notice anything, and by then you were in too deep to say anything about your crush, either, and instead swallowed any and all bitter feelings inside of you when he found a girl he liked, then loved, and eventually started dating.
Up until then you had been inseparably close, and even when he started dating the girl, you remained fairly close, although you could also feel him growing more distant as he began spending more time with her and less with you, which you also partially blamed on yourself. With the bitter emotions storming inside of you, there had been a few occasions where you had let jealousy have the best of you and had given him a bit of a cold shoulder, which you regretted.
It all lasted for a few months, during which you had gotten closer with your friends in one of the after school clubs you took part in, until one afternoon you saw Chan waiting at the door of the classroom your club was in. Frowning, you grabbed your bag and walked to the door.
“What’s up?” you asked in concern as the two of you began walking home, and Chan remained oddly quiet.
“She broke up with me,” he then said, his eyes aimed at the ground. Your heart dropped at the sight and knowledge, and you pouted a little as Chan sighed, a small, sad smile on his face.
“You’ll be fine,” you said and got your arm around his shoulders, holding him close to you. “You’re so sweet and kind and so cool when you dance; I’m sure there’ll be someone else.”
Sighing, Chan nodded. “I hope you’re right.”
For a few months you got closer again as you helped him mend his broken heart, but eventually, especially during the second year of high school, the two of you began truly drifting apart.
Chan got more active in the dance club, which took a lot of his time, as well as got much closer to the people in it. Adding a new girlfriend to that, there wasn’t too much time for you, although both of you tried to stay close for as long as you could. However, once you started spending more and more time with your other friends, too, it started to feel natural to talk less and less.
For some time you two would still text regularly and talk at school every now and then, but gradually throughout the school year, the two of you went from best friends to near strangers. You were in different classes for your last year of high school, and hardly talked at all during it.
By the summer you hardly even greeted each other, and it tore your heart apart just as much as it did to see him kiss his girlfriend at your graduation with the brightest smile on his face.
Your parents had also taken note of him not coming over, as opposed to him coming over at least once a week for whatever reason, and you had told them with a pained expression that you two weren’t talking anymore.
That summer, both your parents and friends made sure you had a great time, and you found yourself hardly even thinking about Chan with all the trips you went on and great things you did with your friends.
You could only hope college would be good to you, too.
Unfortunately you were painfully aware about the fact that Chan would be going to the same college as you, but you found solace in thinking that he’d probably have forgotten about you, as well as the fact that the college had so many students that bumping into him out of all people seemed unlikely.
Once you had first gotten to campus, you got settled in your room, which you were fortunate enough to share with someone you clicked with fairly well, and sighed as you looked out of your window. Your roommate tilted their head.
“Something on your mind?” they asked and got their counterpane out of one of their boxes so that they could put it on their bed.
You pouted a little and turned to look at your roommate. “Just… it’s not too likely to meet someone from your past when there’s so many of us here, right?”
They raised their eyebrows before shrugging with a small smile. “I want to say it isn’t, but the universe has twisted ways.”
“That’s true,” you sighed, slumping your shoulders as you sat down on your bed. “I just want to have a peaceful freshman year.”
Your roommate snorted, at which you pouted.
“Good luck with that.”
Not much later, you were called out for the beginning of orientation, and you decided to stick together at first, although you both had some of your friends from high school join you rather soon. There were a few quicker informative lectures about the college, how it worked and so on, and a few hours later you were more than ready to retreat back to your room with some pamphlets and flyers in your arms.
“Is there still something?” you asked with a sigh, and one of your high school friends hummed as they looked at the timetable.
“A lecture on student services, I think,” they said, and you held back a groan.
Before you were able to say anything else, you heard your name be called.
“Y/N?”
Chills ran down your spine as your feet stopped moving, and your friends turned to look at you in surprise. Slowly, you turned to look at the direction where the familiar voice came from, although it was lower than you remembered.
And there he was: Lee Chan, looking confused and wearing a pair of round glasses that made him all the more adorable.
“Chan..?” you asked with a tilt of your head, frowning, and felt your heart jump to your throat when he melted into a wide smile that left no room for misunderstanding: it was Chan. Turning to your friends, you smiled a little. “I’ll come soon. Save me a seat, okay?”
With that, you walked to Chan, all kinds of emotions storming inside of you: disappointment over how things had gone between the two of you, surprise to see him on the very first day of orientation, happiness over seeing him after a long time, and… something warm in your chest over how lovely his smile still was.
“I saw you were going to enroll here, but I didn’t expect to see you, at least so soon,” Chan said brightly, and you nodded with a small, awkward smile on your face.
“Me neither,” you noted and took a deep breath. “So… how are you and Minkyung?”
His face fell momentarily, but the smile reappeared on his face soon. “Ah, we broke up over the summer. It wasn’t working.”
“I see,” you nodded, trying to ignore the way your heart seemed to flutter with some dumb hope.
“What about you? Anything new?” Chan inquired, and you wished you had something interesting to tell him, such as having a hot boyfriend or having done something cool over the summer or just anything.
And yet. “Nothing, really. Same old, same old.”
Chan smiled at you. “Well, now that we’re in college I’m sure there’ll be something. And also… do you want to catch up sometime? Like, properly, over coffee or something?”
“Uh, sure,” you said, slightly dumbfounded as to where it was all coming from, and got a bright smile from him.
“I think we need to go now, but I’ll message you about it later,” he stated and you could only nod as you then began walking to the auditorium your next lecture would be in. Chan stole glances at you, worrying his lower lip between his teeth; he was next to his childhood friend who was once his best friend, yet you now felt like a stranger, and he blamed it on himself. “So… did you have a nice summer?”
“I did, actually,” you said, your smile becoming more genuine and happy as you recalled all the great memories you had made during the few months you had had free. “I travelled quite a bit, and just… did a lot of things, you know.”
“I think I saw some of the photos, yeah,” Chan hummed and gave you a warm smile. “I’m glad you had a good time.”
“I hope you did, too,” you said right when you reached the auditorium door, which was where you parted your ways as Chan left to look for people he knew and you located your friends, too.
Your roommate nudged you as soon as you had sat down next to them. “Was that the someone from the past?”
“Yeah,” you whispered, trying to calm down your rapidly beating heart.
“Is he your ex or something?” they asked, and you nearly choked on your spit.
“God, no. We… used to be best friends and I used to like him for a long time, it’s a long story,” you mumbled and let out a deep sigh. Your roommate nodded in understanding, and before the person at the very front of the auditorium began talking, told you that they’d be willing to listen if you ever wanted to talk about it.
A few hours later you were finally back to your room, and upon checking your phone, noticed a message from Chan where he asked you if you wanted to grab coffee the next day. Although skeptical, you found yourself agreeing, and so the next day you made your way to one of the cafés on campus, spotting Chan by the door of it.
“Good to see you,” he smiled when he spotted you, and you smiled once you finally reached him.
“Yeah,” you said with a nod, and without further ado suggested that you enter the café.
The two of you looked at the menu carefully, and Chan asked you what you were getting. When you answered, he chuckled and looked at you brightly. “Some things don’t change. I remember you getting that pretty much all the time.”
“Why change the order when you’ve found something you like,” you said with a soft chuckle, and Chan agreed. Much to your amusement he ordered his old favorite, too, and soon you were both seated by one of the window tables.
Meeting up with him was just as awkward as you had feared it would be, yet also oddly comfortable. While you hadn’t talked in almost a year, it felt like hardly any time had passed since you last spoke. It was weird and it made you both happy and sad, knowing that you had missed almost a year of time with him.
Almost a year without your best friend.
You caught up pretty extensively and talked about your shared memories, all of which made you feel nostalgic, and for a moment it felt like you were with the 3-year-old you had once become friends with - only, you were both 16 years older.
A few hours later, the two of you walked back to your dorms, talking cheerfully as you did so. When you reached your dorm, Chan turned to you.
“I know I kinda… blew it in high school, but would you like to start seeing more again?” he asked, seemingly hopeful yet nervous about your reply. The next words he practically blurted out. “I really miss you.”
“I miss you, too,” you mumbled, hardly able to keep a pout off your face, and without thinking about it too much - thinking about your feelings too much - you nodded. “I think it’d be nice to reconnect.”
Even if it meant awakening the warm feelings that were already starting to arise in your chest whenever you saw him smile.
“Great,” Chan grinned at you, and gave you a friendly hug. “Well, I’ll see you around, then.”
“Yeah, see you,” you smiled and watched him leave as he continued walking down the road until he reached his dorm. Sighing, you entered yours and made your way to your room, thinking about the decision you had just made.
All you could do was hope you wouldn’t regret it.
After that you and Chan saw each other regularly, regaining the close friendship you once shared, little by little. You were a bit worried to realize that with that, all the adoration and love you felt for him were brought back, too, but you didn’t know how to stop it, and finding someone else didn’t feel right, either, as much as your roommate promised to work as some sort of a matchmaker for you.
No, you’d figure it out yourself eventually.
Time passed, and towards the end of the first semester you and Chan were more or less best friends again, although you were still trying to mend what had been lost and broken between the two of you. You spent a lot of time together and supported each other during whatever slumps occurred, and also went to most of the events and parties together, sometimes with one or two other friends, too.
It made you smile how you got to see him in such new situations: falling asleep on his book in the library, witnessing him dancing wildly at a party after one too many drinks, sneaking him to your dorm room after he had gotten locked out of his own for a reason you weren’t sure you even wanted to know… you treasured every bit of it, and Chan felt the same way about you.
Shortly put, you were both more than happy to be back in each other’s lives.
As the spring semester came near, Chan invited you to yet another party, which felt particularly tempting due to how annoyingly strong your crush on him was getting once again. Sleeping had gotten difficult because you thought about him so much, and you found yourself thinking about him more and more, too, and not completely platonically, either. With how much you wanted to do all kinds of romantic things with him and have him treasure you, you concluded that you were in need of a drink and letting loose; you were in need of forgetting, if only for one night.
As per usual, the two of you went to the party together, and Chan raised his eyebrows when you went directly to the drinks.
“Planning to get wasted today?” he asked jokingly when you poured a drink for yourself, and you nodded determinedly once you raised the cup to your lips.
“Damn straight,” you said with a smile, not in the least correcting Chan when he assumed that the reason lied in the nearing new semester, which only knew stress, deadlines and lacking sleep.
“Good thing you have me taking care of you,” he chuckled and got himself a drink, too and you agreed with him.
Much to your joy the party was incredibly pleasant. You had a good time and were actually able to forget about your feelings for Chan for a moment, and you found out that the party wasn’t too bad even when you were separated from him for a while. You talked with people you hadn’t spoken with before, danced a little and all that, all the while Chan talked with some people, too, while making sure you were okay and not getting into any kind of trouble.
Some hours into the party, Chan blinked in surprise when you suddenly got your arm around his shoulders and leaned against him, your breath smelling faintly of the alcohol you still had in your cup as well as in your body. A smile spread to his lips, and he got his arm around you, too, providing you support. “What’s up?”
“I have to tell you something,” you began with a giggle that he could tell was more hollow than it was meant to be. He raised his eyebrows, and you grinned at him, although it didn’t reach your eyes. “It’s a funny story, really.”
“What is it?” he asked, one of his eyebrows quirked, completely unaware of what you were about to say.
You let out a deep sigh, your face falling a little at that. “I used to have a huge crush on you for a loooong time, you know?”
Chan’s eyes widened and his lips parted in surprise, and he was unable to say anything as his heart jumped to his throat.
“You never noticed it… Maybe I hid it so well? It was funny, honestly… Being your best friend when I just really… loved you,” you said, your words sounding a bit messy, and Chan listened intently, his expression darkening a little when you went on. “All the girls you dated… your broken heart that I had to help you heal…”
“Y/N, stop,” Chan managed to say at last and pulled you a bit closer to him so that he could hug you with one arm. You sighed again, closing your eyes and leaning into him, hardly remembering the cup in your hand.
“You’ve still got such a warm hug,” you sighed, breathing in his scent, and there was something in the situation added to the alcohol in your blood that made you emotional. Sniffling, you took a hold of the back of Chan’s sweater. “...I want to go home.”
As much as he was enjoying the party, his heart was hurting seeing you like that, especially after hearing what you had said, so he nodded without hesitation. “Let’s go.”
Chan walked you to your dorm room and made sure you got to bed well, but when he was about to leave, you took his hand into yours.
“Don’t leave me again,” you mumbled, your eyes already closed, and Chan pouted a little, rubbing the back of your hand gently.
“Do you want me to stay over?” he asked, and you let out a noise he could only take as a positive answer, especially when it was joined with a nod from you.
You let go of his hand and got into a comfortable position under your blanket, and soon you had him lying down next to you, keeping a safe space between the two of you. Chan sighed as he looked at you, a put on his face, and stroked your arm slowly through the blanket you had over yourself.
“I’ve made you go through a lot, haven’t I?” he asked rhetorically, his voice small, and smiled a little with a sad hint to it. “I’ll try to make up for it. I’m sorry.”
The next morning you, much to your own surprise, woke up with Chan by your side. You frowned, trying to remember what had happened the previous night, but it was all so blurry and the headache was killing you, so all you could do was hope you hadn’t said or done anything dumb, although being in your own bed fully clothed gave you a lot of hope.
Somewhat able to scramble over Chan, you got out of bed and into the bathroom, taking note of the empty bed of your roommate’s on the way. Figuring that they’d gotten some other place to sleep at the night before, you instead focused on how the night had been for you while brushing your teeth and washing your face.
Clearly you had been with Chan the whole evening, which wasn’t much of a surprise since you were close again, but besides that it all was a blur. Only your gut feeling told you that there was a good reason for him to have slept next to you.
Even after you had freshened up a little, you remained seated on your toilet, trying to will your body to feel less nauseous while also avoiding having to talk with Chan, who you hoped was still sleeping.
Your hopes turned into dust when you could hear a knock on the bathroom door, followed by a low, groggy voice. “Y/N, are you okay?”
“Y-yeah, just give me a second,” you rushed to answer, and you hated the way your heart was hammering in your chest. As if you weren’t feeling bad enough already.
“Okay,” Chan replied, after which you figured he left the door.
Sighing, you massaged your temples. Whether it was the hangover or just a general arising of old emotions, you suddenly felt as much like a mess as you had in high school when you were trying to deal with the unrequited feelings you held for the boy that was now sitting on your bed.
“I’m stronger now,” you mumbled to yourself and finally stood up and got out of the bathroom, building up your courage so that you could look at Chan and actually talk with him.
He smiled up at you, his hair a bit of a mess. “Good morning.”
“Morning,” you mumbled with a small smile, too, and leaned against the wall next to the bathroom door. Clearing your throat, you began fiddling with the hem of the shirt you were wearing. “So… what happened last night?”
You could see Chan’s expression change for a moment before he sighed and gave you a soft yet sad smile. “You kind of… opened up, I guess.”
Feeling your eyes widen, you then winced and covered your face with your hand. “About..?”
Chan pouted and stood up so that he could walk to you. “About you, me, us… I had no idea you liked me.”
Your heart felt like it could’ve burst out of anxiety, and breathing felt challenging, too. Chan looked at you in concern and slowly placed his hands on your shoulders, only pulling you into a hug when you didn’t show a sign of not wanting it.
“It’s really nothing,” you mumbled, clinging onto Chan as you hid your face in his shoulder. Tears were stinging in your eyes, and a part of you hated just how comforting his hug was, even as you braced yourself for yet another rejection, this time a direct one.
“It’s not nothing,” Chan said, audibly pouting, and stroked your back soothingly. “I could tell you’ve been hurting, you know. And I’m sorry. For that, and for letting us drift apart, and…”
“It takes two to drift apart,” you reminded him with a sniffle, and got a quiet hum from him.
“I guess. I just… I never wanted to hurt you,” he whispered, holding you close as he sighed. “I’m sorry for being blind.”
Holding the back of his sweater in your fists, you shook your head. “It’s fine, I was doing my best to hide it anyway… I played myself.”
“I didn’t mean that,” Chan said quietly, and you slowly lifted your face, looking at him with a small frown, your eyes glistening with tears. He gave you a small, sad smile and dried some of the tears from your cheeks with his thumbs. “I’ve been blind to my own feelings.”
Unable to say anything, all you could do was stare into his eyes as you tried to figure out if he was saying what you thought he was saying, and you could hear your heartbeat.
Melting into a wide smile, Chan caressed your cheeks. “I’ve been thinking about you a lot recently, Y/N, and I think I…”
“Don’t say it if you don’t mean it,” you whispered, your eyes watering with fresh tears, and Chan shook his head, his eyes glistening a little, too.
“...like you. I like you.”
His voice was so steady and his gaze was so warm that your knees nearly gave in, and you weren’t sure if you still believed your ears.
Lee Chan, who you had liked since preschool, liked you?
A smile spread to your lips as you sniffled and placed your hands on top of his on your cheeks. “Really? Even though I’m… me? Despite all the unflattering situations you’ve seen me in?”
“Because you’re you,” Chan laughed, the grin on his face widening at your latter remark. “Besides, most of those unflattering situations were in kindergarten.”
“My point exactly,” you choked out and let out a quiet laugh. “We’ve known each other for so long, it’s crazy.”
“Maybe that’s why I’m crazy about you,” Chan blurted out and blushed a little. “I mean--”
“Smooth,” you smiled at him, and Chan held back a groan before looking into your eyes shyly, lowering his hands from your cheeks and taking your hands into his.
“How do you feel about me now, though?” he asked quietly, biting on his lower lip as he waited for your reply.
“Right now you’re not helping my hangover, but,” you began, taking a break as you grinned widely, “I still like you, you dummy.”
Chan let out a sigh of relief and hugged you tightly, only to pull back soon afterwards. “You’re hungover?”
“Yep,” you nodded with a meek smile, and got a chuckle from Chan.
“Get in bed, I’ll go grab us something to eat and be right back.”
You did just that and watched him curiously as he put his jacket on and turned to look at you with a bright smile on his face before leaving your room.
There was comfort in the knowledge that he would be back, and once he did return, the two of you ate eagerly, after which you talked a little about how you felt about each other and how you would continue.
Little by little your relationship grew more romantic in nature - neither of you rushed anything, and instead let it all happen naturally as days passed. You’d start holding hands, hug more, cuddle…
And, a few weeks later, you shared your first kiss, which was everything yet nothing like you had imagined, but only in a good way.
You had been on your bed, you with one of your coursebooks on your lap and Chan was playing a video game on his portable console, and after finishing another stage, he had turned to you, about to ask something. You had turned to him at the same time, and your lips brushed against each other’s, which made your eyes widen.
Melting into a smile, you had then placed your hand on his leg and given him a proper kiss, to which he replied with a similar wide, happy smile, cupping your cheek with his hand.
Slowly, you pulled back, the brightest smile on your face. “So, what were you about to say?”
“I forgot,” Chan snorted, and you gave him a gentle nudge, at which he laughed.
Whatever he was about to ask you never came back to him, but instead you shared a few more light kisses before attempting to focus on what you were doing again, which proved out to be impossible to the point where you ushered Chan out of your room, laughing.
“I’ll leave with one condition,” he said with a laugh when he was standing in the hallway and you were by your door.
Quirking your eyebrow knowingly, you grinned. “One more kiss?”
“Exactly,” Chan smiled and pulled you in for a kiss that nearly had you melting and reconsidering your decision to study rather than spend time with him - only the importance of the course helped you remain strong.
Meanwhile, Chan left with a grin on his face, and once you returned to your bed, you were met with two messages showing on your phone screen.
14:02 I could tell you wanted me to stay. Study well, I won’t kiss you again unless your exam goes well! 14:03 ...We both know that’s a lie, but I still want you to do well! I love you 💕

can you right about andreil's first in the hs au?
anon,,,,, :’)
andrew and neil’s first date is in six flags
it wasn’t their idea, actually. it was aaron’s. and katelyn’s. and kevin’s.
see, renee and allison got abby and wymack these two tickets for a bus tour to six flags. three days worth.
wymack and abby, due to the fact that they were not and not ever dating, gave the tix up for grabs to the GSA.
immediately, dan excluded herself and kevin from ever getting those tix. just to prevent nepotism claims.
matt was only a little bothered by this, but only a little bc he had a better idea than going on a three day getaway to six flags
kevin was a Lot bothered
kevin: i want go to six flags! how come no one asked me?dan: well tough luck, bro, you’re not goingwymack: if you throw a tantrum about this, kevin, you’re on dish duty.
renee and allison were going elsewhere that summer
katelyn, on the other hand, was supposed to go back to the country side. nicky could only handle so much before he let aaron take the car and go with her
nicky: but for three days only, aaron minyard, are we clear?aaron: yes yes yes, holy shit, thank younicky: well,,, i want souvenirs. and you have to call, every day.aaron: okay okaynicky: and i am going to invite erik over so, be prepared to meet him next week.
aaron was so stoked
nicky, when he heard of andrew and neil getting the tix, was just as stoked
nicky: ooh, i’ve only been to six flags once and that was still when i was in conversion camp, but i loved food vendor stalls. neil, make sure to take lots of picturesneil: mhmmnicky: and make sure andrew doesn’t just eat sweets the whole timeneil: of courseandrew:neil: yes, i’ll make sure of that
andrew wasn’t as stoked about that
so, they go to six flags.
this is neil’s first time on a holiday trip without family. it’s just him and andrew, a duffel each of clothes they can wear, a bag for toiletries, and enough emergency money that could get them back to home if they ever got stranded.
he was Nervous
he was definitely going to text kevin whenever he could
they hold hands for the longest time, just because they could. the bus was crowded with old people, young couples, kids, and neil was a bit cautious about touching andrew, careful abt overwhelming him, but it was andrew who grabbed his hand, shoved their bags in on the shelf above their seats, sat by the window and didn’t let go until the first pit stop.
and then they got to six flags
lemme just tell y’all, neither of them have ever been to six flags. i don’t think i need to explain why they’ve never been. but you just have to know
andrew did not see this coming
andrew: what kind of amusement park only has coasters for attractions?neil: uh, awesome ones?andrew: lame ones, neil, lame ones.
regret? andrew doesn’t know her.
regret could eat his entire ass.
regret could go fuck herself
because when neil got the map for the place, he looked ecstatic and andrew doesn’t fucking care what anyone says
an acrophobe can endure two days of this. no problem.
um, yes problem
neil caught on halfway through the next morning, after they had breakfast. neil had planned where they’d ride, that they’d get the unli rides bracelets, that they’d ride three for three before taking a break.
neil was fucking stoked
andrew was,,, not.
on the line to the first ride, andrew’s palms were sweating, and he refused to even acknowledge when neil kept going “oh my god, this is gonna be fun”
the first ride,,,, did not go well. and neil was immediately like “okay, andrew, let’s just not ride anything anymore” because neil was not on board when andrew was not on board.
they settled down in a smoking area with neil handing andrew a bottle of water, the only thing andrew was sure he wouldn’t upchuck at the time.
andrew was obviously not pleased with the idea of just stopping because of him.
andrew: let’s keep goingneil: noandrew: why notneil: you can barely stand up and walk, andrew- why didn’t you tell me this was going to be a problem?
silence
neil was determined to keep this happy though. it was the least he could do since andrew was obviously upset by the fact that he was the one that inconvenienced them.
they headed for the stalls and vendors, neil remembering what nicky had told them. at first, andrew wasn’t into it, in a mood, but over time, neil reeled him in with competition.
they played games, bought sweets, took pictures of the most ridiculous things
a few kids pointed at andrew when they walked past, and neil made sure to wave at them for him.
neil somehow wrangled andrew into a photo booth.
not that andrew smiled too big in any of them, but neil did end up making him pose a few times.
andrew looked at his strip of photos like they were something else, and neil kept pointing at the one where the camera caught andrew talking mid-sentence.
at some point, they stumbled into the tourist shop.
neil made fun of everything, making andrew bat at his arm every now and then. he bought a souvenir shirt that was twice his size and tried on every ridiculous pair of sunglasses he could see
andrew made sure not to get caught taking pictures of that
at some point, neil just took a minute to stare at something off in the corner of the store, a little beady eyed fox toy that seemed out of place
by sunset, they were at the boardwalk, eating ice cream. andrew excused himself, then left in a hurry, hand flitting to his wallet in his back pocket.
neil let him, convinced that andrew just needed to go to the restroom, maybe wanted to buy cotton candy. he just closed his eyes, and gave himself a little private smile, thinking about the day
thinking about andrew losing to him at the shooting range
thinking about andrew smiling after this one kid that pointed at his hair when he thought neil wasn’t looking
thinking about andrew holding his hand, shaky after the first ride.
he’d turned the day around.
his ice cream was melting a little.
he didn’t notice andrew walking up to him until something dropped down on the bench right beside him.
it was the beady-eyed fox, staring back up at him.
neil startled, then looked up at andrew, who really did have a cotton candy on hand, eating it bit by bit.
neil picked up the toy, laying it on his lap, remembered the small toy he left back in his father’s house in russia. unlike his old toy, this one was the size of a toddler, and it must have looked ridiculous in andrew’s arms.
neil almost regretted not having looked up to see andrew approach.
“i didn’t think this little guy was for sale,” he commented.
andrew shrugged, “it wasn’t. the guy at the counter gave it for free.”
neil’s brows raised. he blinked up at andrew, then looked at the fox. his private little smile came back, and he could feel it stretching over his lips. he should say thank you or this is so nice or maybe you robbed the guy but he couldn’t find his voice.
he looked back up at andrew, still smiling. all he could say was, “andrew” and he didn’t know two syllables could drip with emotion like that.
andrew met his eyes, golden under his brows as the light of the sunset bathed him orange. “don’t cry, it’s yours.”
neil laughed, then reached out to pull at the bottom of andrew’s shirt. andrew’s hand dropped down to neil’s shoulder as he stepped forward, leaned closer. he kept the cone of cotton candy away from neil.
it was their first date, first time apart from everyone else, first gift to each other, and their first kiss in public.
both of them came home already planning their next getaway. nicky only saw the gag photos they took around the park.
