i’m sorry but this post from someone who is actually a writer/producer of shadow and bone is disgusting

‘skin on skin contact’‘? 

not only is it a blatant erasure of inej’s trauma as a sexual assault and child trafficking survivor, and of her consequent touch adversion, but also erasure of tolya’s aroace identity, and a disrespect to kaz’s haphephobia- going as far as to joke about it

overall, just tone deaf, ableist and ignorant to the characters’ stories and trauma

since posting this, the poster has- understandably- received a lot of concerned comments from fans pointing as much out. thus far, the only response they’ve had to these criticisms is retorts from the producer stating that the caption is a ‘joke’

thing is, when you’re a writer and producer of the show, these sorts of captions aren’t just ‘jokes’

when you’re a writer and producer of the show, which already has a history of ignoring parts of their characters’ backstories if you’re lucky and blatantly erasing them if not, then captions like this are not jokes. they’re indications for what’s going on in the writers room, the thought process of the people involved with creating ‘shadow and bone’ (for this, the actors are the exception, anita suman has been a huge advocate for representing and talking about inej’s trauma)

with the possibility of a six of crows spinoff on the horizon, and the script already written, it’s understandable fans would be so upset about this caption. all the more so as the creator refuses to take accountability for her words, instead deflecting it and minimising the issue

El atletismo es el deporte base y en el Perú hay mucho de donde sostenerse. La selección nacional regresó del Sudamericano Sub 20 de Bogotá con 11 medallas, siete de ellas de oro para cumplir su mejor actuación en un evento de esta magnitud La delegación nacional mejoró ampliamente lo que había cosechado hace dos años en el Sudamericano de la categoría que se organizó en Lima, con solo una presea de oro, dos de plata y cuatro de bronce. Esta vez, los siete oros se lograron en pruebas de medio fondo, a los que se suman dos preseas de plata y dos de bronce. Anita Poma y Verónica Huacasi fueron las más destacadas, con dos medallas doradas cada una. Mientras Anita ganó los 800 y 1.500 metros, Verónica se impuso en los 3.000 y 5.000 metros. Bien por las medallas, pero no tan contenta con las marcas, aunque éramos realistas que por la altura no se podían bajar. En los 1.500 no tenía competencia y lidere toda la carrera. Traté de exigirme, pero en la altura se complica. En los 800 si me acerqué mucho a mi marca y correr así en altura me da buenas sensaciones para cuando corra a nivel del mar. ¿Cómo es que decides ser atleta? En mi familia nadie se ha dedicado al deporte. Mi madre un poco en su etapa escolar, pero no se dedicó. Cuando tenía 11 años mi hermano mayor me inscribió en una carrera de calle y ahí empecé a correr. Ingresé al programa del IPD ya casi al cumplir los 13 años. Ahí inicié con la profesora María Caballón. Dos meses después conocí a mi entrenador Benjamín Tello y él me inscribe a mi primera competencia Sub 18 cuando tenía 13 en el 2017. Empecé corriendo 100 y 200 metros. Inicias como velocista, entonces La profesora hacía juegos de velocidad y en uno de esos días el profesor Benjamín fue a vernos. Ahí me destacaba y el profesor me llevó para hacer velocidad, pero me dijo que era como parte del trabajo para llegar a correr medio fondo. Con mi velocidad y ser de Huancayo me iba a ayudar a desarrollar la resistencia para correr los 800 y 1.500. A los 14 fue mi primera cerrera de 800. Y de inmediato es que sientes que puedes seguir la carrera de atleta? A los 14 años que empecé, gané mi primera medalla en unos Juegos Escolares Sudamericanos. Me hizo ver que era una habilidad que podía explotarla. Le tomé más importancia y ya no era solo un hobbie. Ahí me di cuenta de que el deporte ya formaba parte de mi rutina de mi vida. Y ahora sabemos que estudias y compites a la vez Fue mi objetivo. Algunas universidades se habían comunicado conmigo. Además del deporte, una de mis metas siempre fue terminar una carrera de salud. Me dieron una beca y la estoy llevando a la par estudiando odontología. Los primeros años estuvo tranquilo porque empecé en pandemia y las clases eran virtuales. Ahora voy, pero como desde el colegio siempre lo llevé a la par, es un hábito que tengo el organizarme. Qué sensaciones de lograr el récord de mayores en los 800 metros? Fue muy motivante para mí, mostrarme que soy capaz. Eso me ha impulsado mucho. El hecho de tener el récord te suma a tener la responsabilidad de mantenerlo. Tenemos un plan para ello y para mejorarlo, que es lo que se busca. Y ya te toca pasar a la categoría de mayores Estuve en mi primer Iberoamericano y fui a los Juegos Odesur.
