Codependent!!

Codependent is my fic where i push the 'wwx and the Wens are Weird about Eachother' agenda. Its based on that scene from Broad City where Ilanna has a videocall with Abby while riding Lincoln except all involved are either completely fine with this and see nothing wrong or getting off on it.

“You haven’t texted me, or called me, or sent any snapchats for two days so I thought you might be dead.” Anyone else would have perhaps tried to walk back that statement. Make it a little less what some other people might call ‘dramatic’ or ‘needy.’ “Oh shit, good call,” Wei Ying said, blinking his astonishment. Two days was a ridiculous amount of time to have not spoken to Wen Ning. Had he really been here for two days already? Granted, they hadn’t left the bed for at least one of those days except to get food or use the bathroom, but – breakfast at the new place that just opened up, then to the library for research, then to the market, then a walk down the road, then back to Lan Zhan’s where they’d barely made it through the door before ripping each others clothes off.  Had they cleaned the mess he left on the wall in the front entrance way? Oh gods he hoped so. Their delivery drivers didn’t deserve to be greeted with sex smell.  Of course, Lan Zhan had been answering the door. So dollars to donuts the delivery guy got tipped 20% minimum because there was no question Lan Zhan looked like he’d spent the last 24 hours fucking like he was the last man on Earth. “You’re not dead,” Wen Ning said. “I’m so super not dead.” He didn't say 'I'm fine, I've just been getting railed into the mattress and against the wall and in the shower and over the kitchen counter for the last two days!' Out of respect for Lan Zhan and Wen Ning's delicate sensibilities. They didn't have the same delicate sensibilities, but they had them nonetheless and Wei Ying liked to think he's kind like that.

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? oh god so much. so fucking much. which one to even choose. definitely the one that boils my blood the most is saying that she abused eridan lmfao. the subsection of the fandom that demonizes her because she hurt their poor sadboy's feelings make me want to commit violence. but like in general, almost nobody seems to understand her and her character (except for phemiec shout out to save you by phemiec) it is quite rare to come across a good feferi take imo lol

15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.) fefnep. thats right. arafef is no longer my number one feferi ship im sorry everyone. i still like it tho. i also really like arasolfef now which is fun because i used to hate solfef but i think its cute now.

15. Did you read any books that were nominated for or won awards this year (Booker, Women’s Prize, National Book Award, Pulitzer, Hugo, etc.)? What did you think of them?

from that specific list i read the bandit queens by parini shroff which was on the women's prize longlist but apart from that i read white teeth by zadie smith, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow by gabrielle zevin, and lessons in chemistry by bonnie garmus, all of which were nominated for/won several awards (and were great reads which i highly recommend!

24. Did you DNF anything? Why?

all the light we cannot see by anthony doerr, for like the fourth time and of no fault of its own! i've wanted to read this book since 2014 but for some reason i only ever pick it up when i have an exam coming up, so i get through two pages and then put it down out of guilt and go back to studying. i hate being responsible 😭 but it paid off because i passed the exam i dnf-ed the book for!

21. Which song do you feel describes your character the most and why?

I have several.

A Perfect Circle - Counting Bodies like Sheep

This one is chosen because of A) the military/unsettling beat that is very much a characteristic of Soundwave's outward persona. He cultivates that unsettling intimidation that his silence and presence brings. It helps him do his job more effectively, both in communications and interrogations. It's a reminder that while being quiet, he IS dangerous- and that fact should never be forgotten. There's a reason he's the third in command of the entire Decepticon Army.

And it's not just because of his personal history with Megatron.

It is also a reminder of just how good he is at insinuation and coercion should the need arise. He's good at getting into one's helm, both literally and figuratively- and persuading you to do what he wants, or what he feels is best.

And he doesn't have to say a word.

2. The Knocks ft. Foster the People - All About You.

Soundwave is a mechanism that has a tendency towards a fierce, unwavering loyalty if he feels like you're worth it. He's literally the one mechanism that will follow you into hell and back, believing in you and your cause no matter the faults you have. It's a form of love-language, really- that almost slavish devotion.

It's really the only way he knows how to express it. Soundwave's early life is shrouded in mystery and wrapped up in a decided lack of information. However, what is known is that Megatron was the one that got to him first.

Imagine what would have happened if Optimus could have gotten that loyalty instead?

3. Purple Disco Machine - Twisted Mind ft. Agnes

This very much is his fighting style. It's a little weird, a little off-beat, but graceful with a good beat. As a former gladiator- he really doesn't fight the same way as Megatron. Soundwave is all about deflection and exhaustion than he is brute strength. There's a delicate, almost precise way he moves.

The best proof of this is his fight against Wheeljack in TFP.

The entire fight is just a work of art, as WJ isn't exactly a slouch- being a Wrecker. However, I can easily see Soundwave playing something he can follow the beat along to- since no one expects you to dance when you're fighting. It's one of his greatest strengths and one reason why he and Jazz go head to head so much.

Both of them have almost the same strengths and same weaknesses.

4. Cigarettes after Sex - Nothing's going to hurt you Baby

This one is... well, it's literally just the mechanism's softer side. Soundwave would be the one that plays music snippets in lieu of talking, or just literal mix-tapes. It's not just because of his status as a communications mech, or a host-mech— it's because he understands music in a different way than most. He uses it as a vehicle for those emotions that he can't otherwise verbalize.

It's enjoyment, yes- but it's also a tool he can use.

There's a certain playfulness he'll engage in if he feels comfortable enough, an affectionate tendency- as like all Decepticons, he suffers from positive touch starvation.

Even Megatron, though he'd never admit it.

SecUnit sick is my little nothing burger of a fic where I was miserable and also wanted MB to be.

Gurathin made a noise in his throat that sounded annoyed. I felt him in the feed and realized too late what he was doing to stop him, which was…a problem. So I wasn’t just physically slow, my processing speed was taking a hit too. Belatedly, my internal sensors notified me that I was running at, oh shit - 67% performance reliability. That was…lower than I wanted it to be. It was lower than it should be, with only fatigue, compressed air intake and, ugh, leaking listed under the list of: ‘things that are currently wrong with Murderbot.’ “Traitor,” I grit out, and began to haul myself toward the door. “You didn’t ask to hide here,” he said, “I betrayed nothing.” I hated that it was true as much as I hated that I could have asked to stay here and he would have said yes. Now I had to try and walk while fighting waves of vertigo. I’d had vertigo before, or what I assume to be vertigo. Did I mean vertigo? I thought I did.

“I’m not hiding.” It was important to me that he knew that. I may not have intended to come here, but I definitely wasn’t hiding. And even if I was, I didn’t have an active contract at the moment. I was subject to Preservation law regarding worker’s rights just like everyone else, Pin-Lee made sure of that. So I was technically on ‘rest break’ where I couldn’t take another contract even if I wanted to before the time limit was up. The rest break timeframes were based on the length of your previous contract, and as my previous contract was much longer than it was supposed to be, I got overtime pay and an extended rest period. Joy. But the point was, I could hide if I wanted to. I didn’t have to see…the people I liked. My humans. Not clients, not right now. I had no contract. Crew? No. That was still ART’s word and it still didn’t fit what the PresAux team was to me. They were mine. That’s all. My intake hitched, clogged with the gel-like fluid that had been building and before I could do anything, it hitched again, pushing, and a great glob of it pushed out of my nose. I didn’t want to look like I was hesitating, but there was no way to pretend that was something I would have done voluntarily, so I awkwardly raised the scrap of cloth Gurathin had given me and wiped up what I could, before blowing the rest of the clogged fluid out.

It was, like the fluid from my lungs, a thick sticky gel with a yellow tinge.

Gross.

for the book ask game: 9 and 17?

9. Did you get into any new genres?

kind of? i read two gothic horror novels this year (the last tale of the flower bride by roshani chokshi and starling house by alix e. harrow) and quite enjoyed them! i also read a sports sci-fi novel (the body scout by lincoln michel) which i thought was very good but that was more despite the genres than because of them, but i feel like i might enjoy sci-fi novels a bit more now that i've watched some really good sci-fi anime

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

i guess the scholomance trilogy by naomi novik? i went into it knowing i would have a good time, but i didn't expect to enjoy it AS MUCH as i did, which was a LOT (btw i strongly recommend this book series to people who miss ladynoir)
