We will adapt, his father said. Adaptation is inevitable, it's not like we have a choice. Adaptation had multiple meanings, and the Sully siblings defined it in their own way. For Kiri, adaptation required finding an inner peace that would make day-to-day tasks much easier. As for Tuk, it meant leaving everything she used to know behind and learning anew how to function among the other clan. In Lo'ak's case, the process was about discovering his inner self - knowing your fears was the path to becoming one with the water. Accordingly, for Neteyam adaptation meant being obedient and following his parents' orders. As the oldest, he knew that getting into trouble was the last thing they needed right now; he would again be punished by his father and grounded, for life this time, there was no doubt.
Despite not being a part of Neytiri's family, you became close to her as her friends' daughter, and Neyam was delighted that his parents had taken you along with them - after your parents died in yet another battle against RDA, Jake Sully's wife decided to care for their daughter. You became his best friend after many years spent together, and the fact that you were female didn't change anything - the eldest son of Jake and Neytiri was treating you like the best buddy, hanging out with you as much as possible. Despite moving to a brand-new location because of Quaritch and his buddies, Neteyam still preferred to spend time with you, diligently learning new things from Metkayina.

As you sat on a large rock, frowning, you tried your finest to weave nets. As you tapped your tail angrily against the hard surface, your fingers continued to work on your latest yet unsuccessful attempt; at least this was slightly better than the previous one. As each second passed, you grew more and more annoyed.
Little did you know that Ao'nung and his friends were observing you from a distance. Following a brief exchange of glances with his friends, he approached you. Even though he wasn't a big fan of the Sully family, you seemed so different from them, which made you more appealing. In addition, you had four fingers, so you weren't as strange as those Sullys' demon kids. "Y/N, right? I see you're struggling with weaving," he smiled at you and offered, "Why don't you join my friends and me in the water instead?"
You looked at your messed up work and then at him; maybe continuing wasn't necessary at the moment - your fingers hurt and you were getting frustrated, so you decided a small break was needed. Also, that could be very interesting. You smiled back and nodded, "I'd love to." Rotxo nodded his head in agreement as Ao'nung looked at him. "Let's go, it would be a shame to waste such a beautiful day weaving," Ao'nung encouraged you to leave your work behind.
Tuk, the youngest Sully, saw the entire situation and then decided to inform her older brother about what she had seen.
One last look at your nets convinced you that there was no point in trying. Your curiosity led you to follow Ao'nung after leaving your work behind.
"So, how do you like it here?" Ao'nung asked, glancing at you with a certain amount of curiosity.
"It's completely different," you replied, your tail flicking from side to side. "There's a lot of water. It's a little unusual for me."
Rotxo laughed a bit at your words. "You tree people can only cling to your lianas, right?"
Ao'nung glanced coldly at Rotxo, conveying his anger towards him. Tonowari's son told you, "Forgive my friend, he's a little crude. Have you already interacted with ilu?" He asked, trying to change the topic.
Your arms crossed over your chest as you hissed offendedly, "Well, he isn't really funny. Well, we can do a lot more than that. And about your question, I'm sorry but I'm not even sure what ilu is," you admitted a bit embarrassed.
Another Ao'nung's friend commented, "She doesn't even know what ilu is, that's ridiculous," but was instantly hit in the back of the head by Tonowari's son.
"An ilu is intelligent, sociable, and easily domesticated animal serves the reef clans, including our clan, as direhorses serve the Na'vi clans of the forests and jungles," Ao'nung explained softly, looking at you. "Do you feel afraid?"
Your interest was piqued by the description of the animal. With your tail moving equally eagerly, you enthusiastically shook your head. "Me? Afraid? No! That sounds fascinating! I'd love to see it." Ao'nung slowly stepped into the water until it reached his muscular calves, then he turned his head to see if you were following. As soon as he was sure you were right behind him, he offered you his hand.
Smiling softly, you took his hand and followed him into the water. Compared to what you were doing moments ago, this was much better, you thought to yourself. The two of you were watched from a distance by Ao'nung's friends, who stayed on the shore. They had no idea that they weren't the only ones watching...
The sound Ao'nung made was like whistling after he clicked his tongue several times. A loud chirping ilu emerged from the water shortly afterward.
"It's loud!" you giggled, feeling even more captivated by the creature. "Are you sure I or you won't be eaten by it?"
"Ilu? Don't worry, they won't bite if they're not bothered. Come, pet it slowly," he advised.
As you nodded slowly, you drew a little closer and gently petted the animal.
Ilu turned his head to you and chirped loudly in anticipation, blinking both pairs of its eyes. A gentle, inviting touch was evidently enjoyed by the animal, whose skin was soft to the touch.
In response to your very first interaction with the ilu, Ao'nung smiled. "You see? No biting."
A giggle escaped your lips, and you nodded in agreement. "I really like how soft and cute it is, and there is no biting at all. I didn’t know they’re so friendly!”
After seeing a small wave coming, he took a step closer to you and put his hand on your waist, supporting you from falling to your back due to the strong drift. "I told you it was worth trying."
"It would be appreciated if the waves were not so strong," you joked and politely thanked him for the support he provided. "In fact, it was well worth trying. This creature is so sweet and soft. If I weren't scared, I'd cuddle it."
"There's nothing stopping you from doing so," he said as his hand stayed on your waist. "First, I would suggest creating a bond, it's safer that way."
Meanwhile, Neteyam joined Ao'nung's friends on the shore. Watching you cooperate with the ilu while sitting under the warm sun was a cute way to spend his spare time. Everything would have been perfect if Ao'nung hadn't been doing everything he could to get closer to you. In the end, Neteyam let out a deep sigh - it seemed you were more interested in Metkayina lately, and he was helpless about it; his only concern was your widely understood happiness.
Your eyes widened when you noticed Neteyam with the corner of your eye. You hummed, pretending to think about Ao'nung's offer. This could make things even more interesting. Immediately, you became more flirtatious with Ao'nung. "Are you really bringing me here just to show me the ilu?"
A cheerful smile was given to you by Tonowari's son, who also petted ilu's head. "Why are you asking, Y/N? I was simply trying to relieve you of the unneeded job you were assigned."
With a soft smile, you teased, "Oh, I'm sorry. I was hoping for more from you, but apparently I was mistaken..."
With a bold move, he touched your shoulder with his palm as he asked, "More like? You know how much I value your friendship more than Sullys', so I'm willing to lend a helping hand whenever I can."
"Friendship may always evolve into something more," you shrugged, still petting the ilu's head.
While chirping loudly, ilu poked you in the side with its velvety muzzle. "We could always give it a chance, Y/N. What do you think?" Ao'nung asked as his hand climbed up your shoulder and landed in your crook of the neck.
"Maybe?" You purred as if you were considering it. Of course, you didn't care about any of this, all you cared about was Neteyam's reaction. Although you felt disappointed with the lack of response so far, you decided to keep trying and maybe coax it out of him.
You were so skilled at pretending that Ao'nung leaned forward, closed his eyes, and attempted to kiss you.
It was enough for Neteyam. When he got up to his feet, he got as close to the water as possible without getting in. Neteyam shouted, "What the hell are you doing, Ao'nung?"
Gasping, you took two small steps away from Ao'nung before looking at Neteyam. Oh, he was angry! "Neteyam, what's wrong?" You asked innocently, tilting your head to the side.
The grunt grew louder as Ao'nung opened his eyes and stared at Neteyam as well. "What's your problem, bro?"
"You're acting a bit too brazen, bro, and that's my problem. Leave Y/N alone," Neteyam said after issuing a warning; his eyes were then fixed on you. "Come on, Y/N, I think you still need to finish some things."
Your lips were softly curled into a smile as you whispered, "Yes, I believe I do."
Ao'nung was the first to exit the water, leaving ilu behind. "Well, well, well, look at that, Sully's into our sweet, little Y/N," he mocked, rolling his eyes.
Once you had given the ilu one last pet, you followed Ao'nung towards the shore, thinking how the situation would unfold.
Once Ao'nung got onto the shore, he pushed Neteyam's shoulder strongly with wry words followed by a snort, "Shall I remind you about your position here, Sully? You better be on your best behaviour, as your father suggested."
A frown could be seen on Neteyam's face, but he tried hard to maintain his composure. "Y/N, let's go."
"What's your problem, Net? We didn't do anything wrong, he was just showing me what ilu is."
Tuk, who was partially hidden behind Neteyam's legs, peered out and frowned at you. "We've been here for a while, and you still don't know anything about ilu? Eywa, please hold me tight, I can't deal with Y/N."
Neteyam ruffled his sister's hair and stared at you before saying, "I heard Ronal asked you to help with nets, and you heard what my parents said about us being guests here? We need to adapt and do whatever it takes to avoid being considered useless."
Putting yourself behind Ao'nung, you frowned. "I try to be useful, but making nets is boring and not meant for me? This just seems more fun."
Tuk stuck her tongue out at you, her glance full of concern. "Mom won't be happy."
"Hush," Neteyam whispered to Tuktirey while looking at Ao'nung. "As the chief's son, you should be more reasonable and help Y/N with the tasks she's assigned to."
Your head rested on Ao'nung's shoulder as you gazed at Neteyam. You teased, "Is it your only concern? Or are you simply jealous?"
Neteyam had already had enough of your behaviour - he thought he had shown you many times that you were more valuable to him, yet you seemed more interested in that thick piece of a man, called Ao'nung. "Maybe."
Ao'nung smiled even wider as you patted his shoulder before walking up to Neteyam to take his hand. "Maybe? Just maybe?"
From nowhere, the argument grew into a tornado. The intensity of Neteyam's rage blinded him to your heart and soul. His hand snatched back from your grasp as he snapped at you, "Don't. It seems that Ao'nung has nothing but hots for you, and since you seem to be more than interested, we won't bother you anymore in spending your time with our host. Tuk, come."
The little girl followed her brother enthusiastically, but of course she couldn't help but glance back at you, laying her ears and hissing, showing her perfect, sharp fangs.
It didn't work out as you thought it would; you laid your ears down and hissed back at her, crossing your arms over your chest. A deep sigh was heard from you as you excused yourselves and followed them quickly.
The fact that you followed Sullys was mocked by Ao'nung. "Come on, Y/N! We still might have some fun!”
"Apparently Y/N is more into the eldest of the Sully brothers," Rotxo replied to his friend, and Tonowari's son punched him hard in the side, giving him the coldest look he has ever given to anyone as a warning.
"Neteyam! Tuk! Wait for me!” You shouted after them, attempting to line up with the siblings.
Meanwhile, Neteyam sat on the rock where you had left your unfinished nets.
Since she was angry that you were playing with her beloved brother in such a cruel way, Tuk ignored you perfectly.
After softly sighing, you decided to sit right next to him. "Neteyam... Talk to me. I am sorry for angering you so much."
He answered, "I'm not furious," and continued to work on the weave with his long fingers.
While playing with the sand, Tuk giggled, "He's not angry, he's mad."
"Could you play somewhere else? I want to talk to him alone," you hissed at her.
Tuk stood up and placed her hands on her hips. "Don't order me, you're not my mother."
With a sigh, Neteyam told his younger sister to return to their hut and assist Kiri and mother with whatever they were doing.
The young girl complied with her brother's instructions while grunting loudly in annoyance.
You looked at him and sighed, "At least she listens to you. So, will you talk to me?”
"About?"
Then you moved closer to help him weave the net and whispered quietly, "About what happened. I didn't mean to anger you. I'm sorry for leaving my job. It just seemed like a nice offer and I was super flustered."
Without even glancing at you, he asked bitterly, "The offer or Ao'nung?"
Chuckling, you gently pinched his finger and continued to work. "The offer, as I mentioned earlier."
"Yeah. I bet."
"Neteyam," you said, taking his hand in your palm, "Why did you get so angry about me hanging out with him?"
"Hanging out with him, that's the clue," he said angrily, pulling his hand out of your grasp, weaving angry until his fingertips began to hurt - only then Neteyam threw the net away and after letting out a deep sigh, he massaged his temples. "Is he that interesting? Apparently, you were the one who said reef people were strange and unappealing."
"It wasn't because of him, but because I wanted to see an ilu," you explained, rolling your eyes. "There was a chance it would eat him rather than me in the event of an accident."
Neteyam was trying so hard to keep a straight face, but your comment made him giggle. "If only ilus could be as vicious as akulas, Ao'nung's issue might have been resolved long ago."
A smile spread across your face as you raised an eyebrow at him and asked, "You'd like that, huh?"
Prior to replying, Neteyam improved his necklace and waved his tail. "Maybe."
Your tail wiggled happily as you placed your chin on his shoulder with a mischievous smile. "I'm sure you would love that, hm? You wouldn't have to worry about someone stealing me from you."
"It's not like that, Y/N. We're just friends, you and I."
"Well..." you sighed deeply, "I'm disappointed to hear that, because I really wanted something more."
You were given a serious look as he asked, "Just like with Ao'nung, huh?"
As you gasped, you smacked his back with your tail. "I tried to get your attention by making you jealous. Is that what you wanted to hear?"
He grinned widely as he asked, "So you tried to make me jealous? Well, it appears you are interested in me, and I am flattered by that."
You whined, "Yes! I'm interested in you, but you're only paying attention to me in a friendly manner."
"And how do you know that, smartass?"
Blinking, you shrugged lightly. "That's how I felt."
"Then you must be blind."
You turned away and crossed your arms over your chest, pretending to be offended. "I'm not, it's just that your signs weren't clear enough."
In this case, Neteyam rested his chin against the crook of your neck, looking at you from your profile. "How many times did I accidentally catch your hand? How many times did I say there was no one but you? How many times did I skip my duties just to spend time by your side?"
You leaned against him, "I just thought it was because I was an orphan who your mother had taken care of and you took care of me because this was what your parents expected you to do."
With you by his side, Neteyam was able to relax his nerves as he closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth of the sun kissing his skin. "How wrong you were, Y/N."
"Now I know. What should we do about it?"
"Have you thought of anything in particular?"
Shrugging, you replied, "No. How about you?"
"My guess is that it's the part when you kiss her, Neteyam," tiny tone suggested. Nobody else but Tuk observed the entire situation while hiding among nearby bushes.
While eldest Sully facepalmed for not expecting his little sister to spy on him, he knew deep down she was right. In barely a second, he placed a hand on your cheek and rubbed you there with his thumb, before leaning forward to rub his nose against yours and briefly kiss your lips.
Wrapping your arms around his neck, you giggled quietly and kissed him back. The happiness made your tail move like crazy.
A small Omaticaya girl shook her head and kept quiet during the scene.
As your taste spilled over Neteyam's tongue, he murmured in pleasure.
With a mischievous smile, you pulled away and rubbed your noses together. "It was worth it to piss you off."
"Prove it."
"I love you, not Ao'nung," you rolled your eyes and kissed him once more.
Tuk's tone was filled with happiness as she chanted, "I feel love in the air! Y/N and Neteyam, Neteyam and Y/N! Nanana! Love is oh so in the air!"
When Neteyam returned the kiss, he felt all his angst and anger disappear quickly, having been eased by your words and feeling that they came from the depths of your heart.
After letting him kiss you for a moment, you pulled away when you needed to breathe deeply. "Is this proof enough for you, my love?"
"Yes."
"What did our little spy think of what she saw?" You asked Tuk loudly.
With a stick she found in the bushes, Tuk emerged from her hiding spot and approached the two of you. "It was pretty cute, but still eww, just like mom kissing dad. Just remember I will keep a close eye on you, Y/N, and I won't hesitate to inform Neteyam if I see you hanging out with those beefy, turquoise fellas again," she warned, getting on her brother's lap. "And now tell me: will you two eventually tie the knot?"
You rolled your eyes and ruffled her hair. "One day, maybe, when we decide we want to be together forever."
"Tuk, please," Neteyam poked Tuktirey's shoulder. "Little one, that is none of your business."
"What? I have to be ready," Tuk looked at you while shrugging her shoulders. "I believe you'd make a stunning bride! I could look after your future kids! I would play with them!"
"TUK!" Neteyam paled a little, pulling on his sister's braid. "That’s enough."
A smug smile appeared on your face. "I would like to have kids, so long as they aren't like their future aunt."
Neteyam laughed, shoving Tuk off his lap and returning to weaving. "Please, don't encourage her, Y/N."
Tuk initially nodded joyfully in response to your comments, but when she realised what you were saying, she crossed her arms over her chest, which, unfortunately, was the same moment she slipped from Neteyam's lap. She snarled at you while sitting on her butt in the sand. "I'll keep it in mind, Y/N, and I'll tell mom!"
Laughing, you took Neteyam's hand. "I guess we'll see about that. Right?"
As he stroked your palm, he smiled at you brightly. "Yes. The feelings I have for you are something I am looking forward to discovering and exploring."

Headcanons for how lo’ak, Neteyam, and aonung would be when dating you? Maybe some dates they would like to do etc :)
Boyfriend Headcannons
💭— How Neteyam, Lo’ak and Ao’nung would be as your boyfriend.
🧷 — this is my first time doing headcannons so hopefully it’s good :)
Neteyam
Neteyam is the type of boyfriend who would randomly give you gifts. It doesn’t even have to be a special occasion— he’ll give you something sentimental just because. When he goes out diving with the other boys he always finds pretty shells that he finds to give to you. He always says they remind him of you.
He was too shy to ask you out at first, too concerned about whether or not he’d be over stepping his boundaries especially since he didn’t know how you felt. Lo’ak being Lo’ak— ‘accidentally’ blurted it out to you one day that Neteyam liked you, which resulted in Neteyam beating him but also confessing his feelings to you. The rest happened from there.
He’s protective over you, but in a healthy way. He doesn’t mind you being around other guys, he trusts you so he doesn’t worry. He knows you’re clumsy so he’s always looking out for you, holding your hand to help guide you if you’re walking on uneven surfaces, tending to your wounds if you get any from training and making sure you’re fed. He won’t let you leave his marui until he knows you’ve eaten.
“Have you eaten enough?” He’ll ask you for the fifth time. You nod, unable to reply because your mouth is full. “Yes, Nete. I’m fine— I’ll see you later” You laugh, finding amusement in the fact your boyfriend is so caring. He’ll let you leave, giving you a kiss before he cleans up the rest of the food.
When you get into arguments with him and you both need space, it doesn’t last long. Neteyam hates being away from you, especially when he knows you’re both upset at each other. So he’ll find you wherever you are with an apology ready. You can’t resist him either so your grudge against him never holds.
When he takes you on dates, he’ll always make sure they’re special and well thought out. He chooses scenic places, brings food he knows you like and he’ll always give you something as a gift— even if it’s something small. Lo’ak likes to tease Neteyam about it but you find it sweet how seriously he’ll take your dates. He’ll take you to watch the sunset or sit on a quieter part of the beach— he even sang you a song once.
Neteyam is always affectionate. He’s not afraid to show you how much he loves you— even though his siblings tease him for it. He’s clingy when he wants to be but he knows when to give you space. He’s big on physical touch, he’ll have his arm wrapped around you or hand clasped with yours when you’re walking around. He hugs you randomly and loves when you sleep next to him.
Lo’ak
Even though Lo’ak has the biggest mouth and never struggles to speak his mind— he found it difficult to tell you how he felt about you. He had a crush on you for years, always concealing it by teasing you and treating you like a friend— but really he was dying to tell you otherwise. “Just tell her” Neteyam would nudge him after catching his younger brother gazing at you from afar. “Stop” He would tut, shrugging off Neteyam before he had a little talk with himself to muster up the courage before he walks over to you.
As your boyfriend, Lo’ak is over protective. He trusts you, but he doesn’t trust other guys so it’s more than likely that he’ll start fights over you or drag you away from a group if there are too many guys there. You reassure him countless times that he doesn’t have to worry and after a while he chills out more, but he’ll still keep an eye on you if he thinks someone’s being too touchy with you.
Lo’ak finds being affectionate kind of cringey so he wouldn’t be so open with it— but he still shows you how much he cares when you’re alone. He’ll smother you, kiss you and cling onto you even when he knows he’s being a bit much. “You’re suffocating me” You huff, struggling to breathe as Lo’ak pulls you closer into his body. You’ve been cuddling in bed for an hour now and he refuses to let you get out of bed. “Just deal with it babe”
Lo’ak takes you on romantic dates and he’ll choose scenic places too. He’s naturally adventurous so he’ll sometimes put you both at risk with some of the places he’ll take you. “I thought you said this was safe?” You question him as you find yourself stepping over some old abandoned aircraft stuck in a tree. “Babe chill, we’ll be fine” He says this moments before the weight of you both causes it to collapse and fall, the both of you just managing to escape. You lectured him the whole walk home and he promised to make it up to you next time.
When you fight, it’ll take a while for you both to get over it. You’re both stubborn so you accept that giving each other silent treatment is what you need. He usually caves first, after watching you from afar and giving himself shit for making you upset— he’ll finally get over himself and go apologise to you. “I’m an asshole. Please forgive me?” He’ll plead, nudging you and causing you to look at him. You give in instantly, standing to give him a hug before you kiss his cheek.
Lo’ak gives you gifts he’ll know you like but most of them are hand made jewellery or random trinkets he’s found. He knows you’re not picky but he still tries to make an effort.
He teaches you curse words that he grew up hearing his dad sometimes say. Your boyfriend sometimes takes advantage of the fact you’re unaware of what the bad words are and he’ll teach you anyway. You’ll be in their hut practicing with Lo’ak when Jake overhears, scolding his son for being immature. “Lo’ak, cut that out” He’ll tut, causing your boyfriend to smile at you apologetically before he says sorry.
Ao’nung
Ao’nung is the hardest to get through to. He’s stubborn and he doesn’t like to express how he feels— even more so toward you because he likes you so much. He pretends to not like you, always teasing you, leaving you behind when you dive together and hinting for you to leave the friend group. He would rather get beaten by Neteyam and Lo’ak again than to see you leave but he wouldn’t tell you that. He’s too busy trying to throw you off his trail. His sister is the one who convinces him to just be honest with you. “She’s got a good heart. I know she’ll feel the same, even though you’re a skxawng” She scolds him, pushing his head as she walks off to leave him with his thoughts. He’ll eventually end his act to finally go up to you and ask you out.
As your boyfriend, Ao’nung keeps a close eye on you. He’s protective, he doesn’t vocalise it often but you see it in the way he’ll silently look out for you. He’ll help you without you asking, already by your side before you can even call out to him. When you get hurt if you’re out hunting or diving, he’ll scold you and he can be quite harsh but it’s only because he cares. “Tsk that’s why I tell you not to go without me. Look what happens. Use your head next time” He’ll grunt as he’s applying some of his mother’s healing paste on scratches you’ve gotten while diving. “Sorry, I’ll be more careful next time”
He takes you out on dates often. Although your home in the reef is quite limited and you only have so many places you could explore— Ao’nung always manages to find somewhere special to take you. Secret caves he’s found underwater, a hide out in the more botanical area of the village or a secluded side of the beach— he always makes sure they’re scenic. He’ll take you on swims outside of the reef on his ilu but he always makes sure to bring you home before dark— he doesn’t want you out there too long.
He’s shy when he gives you gifts. They’ll be hand made necklaces with pretty shells or something woven that you can wear. His mother and sister insisted they make it for you but he wanted it to be from him so he’ll insist they just teach him. His skill set wouldn’t be as great as theirs so whatever he’s made you will always look somewhat wonky but you love it even more. You appreciate the fact he took the time and effort to make it himself. “I love it! Thank you, Ao’nung” You smile as you kiss him on his cheek, he’ll pretend to act nonchalant about it. “It’s fine, didn’t take long”
When you fight he’s stubborn. Neither of you will talk to each other but you’ll usually try to prompt him first to apologise to him— if he was still salty about it he’ll just shrug you off and continue his silence. Eventually he’ll feel bad for treating you this way and find you to apologise. He’d silently approach you and wait beside you for a few moments before he’ll lean closer to you, nudging the side of his head with yours. “Forgive me, my love. I shouldn’t have spoken to you that way” He’ll murmur before kissing your cheek and waiting for you to accept his apology.
He’s affectionate in private. He’s not one for PDA and you don’t mind, as long as he’s comfortable then you’re okay with it. He’ll sneak kisses in and hold your hand when you’re around others but he waits until you’re completely alone to be more open. He’ll hold you while you watch the sun set, braid your hair and leave kisses on your neck. He doesn’t over do it with his affection which is something you admire.

second part of Upset where Aonung apologizes A LOT, let him roar a little ok 🙁 with a happy ending
Betrayed pt 2
pairings: aonung x sully!reader
summary: as you walk along the beach Aonung confronts you and says things you’ve never expected to hear from him.
warnings: kinda toxic? ooc aonung,
A/N: taking requests for Aonung and neteyam! currently have two other requests in my inbox that are being worked on :) read —> part one
Tumblr media
One week. You had been avoiding him for one whole week, Aonung hadn’t even bothered to look for you.
Your whole family tried to lift your spirits but all you felt was sadness, they didn’t know what was wrong with you, the only one who knew was Neteyam.
How could he change so quickly? One moment he saying you are so pretty and he wouldn’t know what he would’ve done if you never joined the clan and the next he’s kissing another girl right in front of you?
You sighed as you walked along the beach, normally you took one of your brothers with you but you wanted to be alone.
If he did even apologize could I even forgive him? I just need to forget about him, but he’s all my heart desires.
I sat down on the sand and stared at the water, the sound of the ocean was soothing.
“ Y/n. " My head shot up at the voice- the voice of Aonung. I immediately stood up and began walking away from him.
He grabbed my arm, facing me towards him, “ Let me go. " I hissed, Aonung sighed and let go.
“ Please- just listen to me. " Aonung pleaded, I rolled my eyes and turned my head away from him.
“ I have nothing to say to you and I don’t want to hear from you, now go away or I will leave. ” I said, “ Let me explain! I know you’re upset. "
“ Upset? You think I’m upset? I’m angry, I never want to see your face again. " I cried, but no tears left my eyes.
“ I’m a skxáwng! I shouldn’t of kissed her- I should’ve kissed you. I don’t know what I was thinking, please. " He begged, “ I don’t even like her, I don’t know what was going through my mind.. I was just jealous. "
“ Jealous? What were you jealous of? Was it not obvious that I liked you? We were about to kiss before my brother ruined it! " I stated, my eyes glossed with tears.
“ A few hours before.. I saw you talking with one of the boys and he was helping you, and I should’ve been the one helping you. " He sighed, his face turning purple.
“ And it just made me jealous and angry, and I wanted to make you feel the way I felt. But it was stupid. I realised that I’m not a good person, before I met you I was a player, self-centered and many other horrible things but you changed me. " He spoke, tears forming in his eyes.
“ And then when I saw you two something just changed in me and I felt like I was the same person before I met you and I don’t wanna be him- being him was me constantly being sad and not that I’ve met you I’m happy and- and I get if you don’t wanna forgive me but I just wanted you to hear me. " Aonung spoke, tears rolling down his cheeks.
My lips are apart in shock, I have never seen him this vulnerable. Did I really have that effect on him?
“ I was heartbroken and extremely confused- I know we aren’t together but I thought you were trying to court me and then you kissed another girl and it just all felt like mixed signals. " I spoke, a tear rolling down my cheek.
“ I don’t think I can fully forgive you right now but we can work on it, okay? " I questioned, Aonung quickly nodded his head.
“ Of course, I’ll do anything to gain back your trust. " He spoke, a grin forming on his face as he held my hand.
“ Wanna go help me make some flower crowns? " I asked, he laughed and nodded his head, in that moment I knew everything was gonna go back to the way it was.

Neteyam and PDA
Greetingsss, it’s been a while…this is a Neteyam x reader fiction that takes place before the um…yk…he goes bye bye. This contains an established romantic relashionship, reader is gender neutral and an assuption that reader is into/ doesn’t mind PDA. Enjoy!!
Tumblr media
You and Neteyam had been dating for almost 5 months, and by now everyone in the metkaina clan knew about your relationship, ESPECIALLY his family. While he didn’t talk about you much with his father, due to their extremely strict “soldier-general” dynamic, he wouldn’t shut his mouth about you with his mother and brothers (Kiri developed a death wish at some point).
Every time they were all together he’d have to talk about or mention you AT LEAST two or three times, bringing you up whenever he could, and eventually everyone got used to it (even if he still has to deal with Roxto, Ao’nung and the others teasing you two).
But how did he act when you were actually around?
Well…
He’s always by your side, never leaving you unless there’s an emergency or a particular situation. It doesn’t matter if he isn’t touching you, what matters is that you’re by his side. This man LOVES to hold you:he holds your hand, he holds your hip if you’re standing next to each other, he has his hand on your tight when you’re sitting, he has his hand on your shoulder… He’s basically never letting you go, letting the world know that you two are together.
And if someone says something about him being “too clingy” or “cringe” he’d probably give the person a judgmental stare and walk on. You’re the only one allowed to complain or say something about his manners in public regarding you.
Although he’s totally more than ok with hand holding or overall physical touching in public, when it comes to kissing it’s a different story…kissing is the most intimate and romantic thing you two could do (he’s 15 guys c’mon😊🙏) and he doesn’t want the people around you to be part of that intimacy by witnessing it. He won’t hesitate to softly peck your forehead, back of your hand and even lips, but if you’re around other people just know that it’ll be pretty quick.
In case you’re asking yourself how the others feel about this…well..
Kiri is disgusted
Lo’ak is both unbothered and annoyed
Ao’nung, Roxto and Spider are mostly teasing both of you with their immature asses
Tsireya thinks you’re the cutest couple on earth (after her and Lo’ak obv)
Tuk basically sees you as her big sibling
Jake and Neytiri look at you and see their younger selves falling in love with each other <:’)
Sorry this is so short🥲

I was wondering if you could do a story about kirir x aonung. There's barley any stories about kiri and I just want to read a fan fiction about since she's my favorite character<3
➠APOLOGY
Tumblr media
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
Tumblr media
GIF by Ma3
Character: Ao’nung x Kiri
Summary: Kiri thought moving to another place would be very different from her home; she thought she wouldn’t receive any names from the Metkayina clan, as most of them welcomed them with open arms, treating them like brothers and sisters. Well, most of them, as one certain Metkayina boy keeps bothering her.
Theme: The start of friendship, bullying, angst, and fluff.
Word count: 1.4k
Warning: Expect some English errors, as English is not my first language.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
After Sully's family arrived in front of Awa'atlu, the leaders welcomed them with open arms. It had been only a month since Kiri had stayed, and someone was already getting on her nerves, thanks to both her brothers, who defended her after she got bullied by the chief son.
She felt like things kept circling around her, and this made her tired of it.
"What is wrong?"
"Nothing"
"It doesn’t look like it; tell me, is it him again?" Neytiri asks, noticing that Kiri has become even more irritable and quieter than her last one.
"I’m fine; why should I not be fine?" Kiri muttered, slamming the leaf wrap on the ground and continuing to make another one, only for her to sigh in exhaustion as Neytiri stopped her.
"Kiri, you can talk to me."
Kiri looked at her adopted mother, seeing Neytiri's pleading expression that she would understand; it was just that she needed to tell her what was wrong in order to try to help her.
"Why can’t I be like everyone else?" Kiri whined, eyeing her mother and then her five fingers,
"Why can’t I be normal?"
"Oh, Kiri," Neytiri tried to console her, but all she did was nudge her hands away.
Neytiri then glanced at her back when she felt her mate’s hand resting on her shoulder, eyeing her and telling her that he would like to take it from there. With a single nod, Jake took Neytiri’s place.
Kiri, sensing a new presence, swiftly moved her body to face the other side.
"What?" Kiri asks as Jake clears his throat.
"I know how you felt."
"No, you're not,"
"Believe me, I’ve been there." Jake chuckled, remembering how every Omatikaya looked at him when he stayed to learn from their clan.
"At first, they look at me differently because of who I am, and that makes me feel special."
Kiri can’t help but frown her eyebrow at what her dad said to the point it confuse her and as she glanced at him. Jake continued to speak, saying, "But you know what? Because of this thing, it becomes who I am today." Jake showed his finger.
"Whenever I see this, it reminds me of all the things I’ve been to, from where I met a dear friend, a mate for life, winning, and having you all, to where you first held my pinky." Jake held Kiri’s hand.
"It reminded me of a bead; each bead contains its own story, just as does this finger."
"It’s different from them, but that doesn’t mean we’re completely different beings. we're all the same inside."
Jake’s words made Kiri realize something—maybe he was right on that, but she was just too weak to think of it that way. And maybe it was time to show them that she was just like them and that she was special on her own.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
"Ao'nung, you should apologize."
"Why should I? I was the one getting these bruises."
"Yet, you’re the one who started it... Just why do you keep picking on Kiri?" Tsireya asks curiously as to why her brother always seems to find the time to make fun of Kiri.
Why? was on Ao'nung's head. Even though he knew the answer as Kiri is a freak with five fingers than a normal Na’vi is but is that the only reason why he keeps picking at her? If so, that’s too low for him; it's too pitiful for him to do so.
Is he that bad that he decided to bully someone just because they have an extra part? No… It's just that he doesn't know how to approach a girl, and it's not because of Kiri's finger; perhaps he wanted to befriend her...
But how? When all he did was make fun of her, and if he approached her now, she wouldn’t accept him. He would do the same if he were her; with all the things he did, who would forgive him?
But maybe there’s still a chance for him to fix it.
"Where are you going?"
"To fix my mistake."
Was that the only thing her brother said as he jumped into the water, riding his Ilu. Tsireya was taken aback by her brother's sudden action, but when her gaze followed her brother's direction, she couldn't help but smile.
‘I wish you luck, brother’  Tsireya said while watching her brother and friend Kiri talking in the distance.
From the distance, before Ao’nung arrived at the scene, Kiri was out wanting to explore the ocean again and at the same time planning to come up with a plan on how she would show the guys how she was not that different from them.
She wanted to show them, especially Ao'nung, that she’s just special, and that makes her something that they can’t have nor do.
Speaking of Ao’nung. Kiri couldn't help but roll her eyes when she heard his voice calling from the distance, much to her surprise.
"What did you just call me?"
"Kiri"
Kiri can’t help but act surprised and confused as Ao’nung always calls her a freak or alien, never by her name. but now? "Are you playing with me again-"
"No, I… I wanted to apologize"
"Oh, really?" Kiri sarcastically asks, rolling her eyes at him, waiting for snickering and laughter to emerge out of the water, which his friend would do whenever he bullied her. But after a minute with only calm water and an Ilu chirping,
Kiri glanced back at Ao'nung, who was now wearing an apology expression.
"Oh, you’re not joking?"
"I’m not. I’m real this time… I’m sorry for all I did to you, and I know these words are nothing to you now. I just wanted to let you know that starting today, I won’t bother you anymore, so those are my friends. I’ll make sure to tell them off."
"…I- ah…" Kiri didn’t know what to say on that point, as she didn’t really expect Ao’nung to apologize out of the blue, and hearing his voice, he doesn’t look like he was making it up and genuinely apologizes to her.
"Have a good day, Kiri." Ao’nung was about to swim away only for Kiri to hold his shoulder, stopping him.
"Maybe you are right; maybe your words mean nothing to me. But that was for my past self... I wanted to show you guys, especially you, that even if I’m a freak and an alien in your eyes. I’m not so different from you; I’m the same with just an extra one," Kiri chuckled as she said.
Kiri then peeked at Ao’nung’s bruised cheek and couldn’t help but gently touch it, saying, "I also wanted to apologize to my two brothers. But yet again, it’s on you"
Ao’nung can’t help but laugh at this as well, nodding his head agreeing with her only to stop when Kiri let out a question for him to answer, and this question.
Maybe they can start a new chapter for both of them.
"Do you want to join me?"
"Where?"
"Hmm, Dunno. I’m not really familiar with this place yet... "Perhaps you should give me a quick tour?"
"Sure"
Thanks for that answer. While Ao’nung showed Kiri someplace she'd never been and just saw her smile light up whenever she saw something new, Ao’nung couldn’t help but admire this, and as they continued swimming around the place, the two of them learned something new from one another to the point where Ao’nung said to Kiri how he wanted to befriend her but didn’t know how to make a move.
"So, you bully me instead."
"Yeah... sorry, that was wrong of me."
Kiri shook her head "It's fine; we have our differences, but we move in the same direction."
"So… " Ao’nung chuckled and quickly took a deep breath and then faced Kiri, asking, "Would you accept this shell as a token to fix my mistake and be my friend starting today?"
The shell is a Metkayina tradition for showing gratitude and acceptance to one another when wanting to befriend or court someone, but in this case, the shell Ao'nung gives to Kiri is the shell of a new friendship.
Kiri gently took the shell "Alright! But first… I need your help"
Things quickly escalated for both of them, and let’s just say the two of them are a duo when it comes to planning a prank to make things more fun.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
Ps: Don't forgot to re-blog and heart! thankeee~!!
Another request done!! yey! don't be shy to send request! for the other pending request I'm now writing it!
Though I hate how Ao'nung pick on Kiri but in the end we can see how much he change on the movie.

Spread love to fanfic writers! Answer these questions about your fanfics then send this to 5 other fanfic writers Name a fic you loved writing the most. Name a fic that others loved but you didn’t care for as much. Name a fic you had the most fun writing. Name a fic that you are the most proud of. Name a fic that you wish had gotten more recognition. Name your happiest/saddest/most comedic fics!
-Annestie
Omg I wasn't expecting this! Ty sm. I haven't published a lot 😭
I think the fanfic I loved the most was waves crashing, it was my first one and I started it when the war on ao3 2023 happened and I was going a little crazy without my bed time stories 😭
I think one that others loved but I didn't care that much for was probably ill bare my soul like a bare my teeth? Idk I kinda just enjoyed writing everything as it was for fun and when I had time.
I think the fanfic I had most fun writing was wrapping paper and ribbons as I love Jake and Neytiri sm and I wanna write more of them and their love
I think the one I'm most proud of is waves crashing bc I never believed I could do anything like that let alone be brave enough to post it.
One I wish got more recognised is probably wrapping paper and ribbons bc I just think it's super cute
My saddest one is probably the one I've yet to post bc it is an Ao’nung x Lo’ak fiction and I'm working my head around how it should be. Again just something that emerged from my brain one night.
All of my fics are just smth that have kept me up some nights like little brain worms.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ things to know!
Tumblr media
- I’ve been an avatar fan since 2009!
- I am a certified Neteyam enthusiast. He could trample me with a direhorse and I would thank him. The obsession actually might be unhealthy!
- This is a sfw/nsfw blog. I write fluff, and sometimes smut. I always age up characters when necessary, and my fics that include 18+ content are always labeled accurately. That being said, if you are a minor, do not interact with my posts that include the ‘nsfw/mdni’ tag.
- If you do not agree with the aging up of fictional blue cat aliens, leave now or forever hold your peace.
- I currently write for Neteyam, Lo’ak, and Ao’nung. I do not write for female characters, and I might write for Jake in the future!
- I write for fem!reader, and will write gn!reader if requested. I do not write for male!reader because I simply feel I would not write it well!
- I love to interact with you guys. Please please pleaseee feel free to come into my inbox to chat anytime! I am always open to new friends/mutuals.
- I love to share my thoughts with you guys, post avatar edits, or just talk about whatever comes to my mind.
- There is no post schedule on this blog. I am writer’s block’s favorite victim, and sometimes it’s hard to pull myself out of that. :,)
- I do not tolerate any hate on my blog. If you are homophobic, transphobic, racist, or any of the ists that aren’t good, this is not the place for you. <3
- Do not waste your time sending hateful messages in my inbox/direct messages. I will either eat your ass up, or delete the ask all together. ❤️
- You are responsible for your own media consumption, my works are tagged to inform you on what my writing entails.

Rules For Requests + General ||
if you request nsfw, please make sure that it isn’t triggering. i am ‘OK’ with age ups. but i prefer time skip scenarios as they’re more realistic and allow character development. i’ve seen other authors do this and it makes me feel more comfortable.
i will most likely write nsfw for characters that are already of age, rather than those who are not. so please keep that in mind 💀
i try to at least draft every request i have if it gives me enough to work off of. if you don’t see your request answered that is because 1. i have not finished or 2. it doesn’t give me much to go off of.
i don’t write for anyone’s personal oc’s, i want everyone to be able to read my fan fictions and integrate themselves into it and i don’t go into much detail in my one-shots so it’s easier that way. as for my new series (Huntress’ Call), it’s more realistic and workable to integrate a general na’vi character i have in my head, that i feel like everyone can relate to.
feel free to ask me questions. requests are open for now.
if you decide to leave a hate comment or send one through my inbox, it will be deleted and you will be blocked. at least don’t place yourself as an Anon. it’s embarrassing for you.
if you don’t like my works, or dislike me. block me. leaving hate is unnecessary 🫶🏻.
send me cat memes.

Astray — pt.2
☁️ Ao’nung x Metkayina Reader x Neteyam
🧷 warnings: angst, jealousy, toxic!Aonung
a/n: Sorry for the longest delay ever. I’ll be honest with you I had the worst writers block with this one but anyways enough with the sob story. Hope this is okay :p
📑 Ao’nung starts to act weird and you have no idea why. You try to ignore him but he proves to make that a hard task when he starts to interfere with you and Neteyam.
Tumblr media
You push back against him until he finally takes his hand off of your mouth and gives you some space. You huff, adjusting yourself before standing up straight. Although you’d been avoiding Ao’nung, you were some what relieved it was just him and not a stranger. Still, you weren’t exactly thrilled to see him either.
“What’s wrong with you? Why would you grab me like that?” You seethe, still recovering from the fright he’d just given you. He doesn’t respond yet, just observing you as you mutter incoherently to yourself.
“You are not going back to your marui, you liar. Where are you headed?” He interrogates you, standing in your way to stop you from leaving.
“Getting some air. Go back home” You huff before you attempt to move past him yet again, he stops you— holding out his arm to block you, which causes you to bump into it. At this point, his intrusion is starting to annoy you and you can’t hide the way it spreads to your face.
“You’re seeing the Sully boy aren’t you?” Ao’nung says accusingly, giving you a look of disbelief before you can even say anything.
“And what if I am? Why do you care” You question him, watching as the look on his face falters at your tone. He drops his arm before he shrugs— going back to his usual nonchalant act.
“I don’t care. I just wanna know why you lied” He scoffs before he finally moves out of your way to let you pass. You take the opportunity to finally get past him enough so he can no longer block you.
“Please don’t tell anyone, Ao’nung” You plead and when he doesn’t respond, you repeat it yet again.
“Please”
“I’ll keep your secret safe… for now” He tuts, you thank him quietly and although you don’t fully trust his word— you spare him one last glance before you continue on your way. It was strange, the way he was interrogating you was out of character for him to say the least. He didn’t care where you roamed before so why did he suddenly care now.
Ao’nung was wasting your time and energy yet again, you scold yourself internally as you make your way toward Neteyam who’s sitting on the sand. He stands when he sees you, a wide smile gracing his features when he sees you approaching him.
“I apologise for being late. I got held up”
“No need to apologise— I’d wait all night for you if I had to” Neteyam hums as he pulls you into a hug, you feel your face warm at his comment— grateful that it was too dark for it to be noticeable.
The two of you move to the forest line of the reef, making sure you’re well hidden away from the marui before you relax and talk. With Neteyam, you can talk about literally anything and everything and you would never run out of things to talk about. He always listens and has something thoughtful to say too— something you realised Ao’nung never did. Your conversations were always one sided, flat and consisted of him walking off most of the time.
“I want to give you something” Neteyam says softly before he pulls out the necklace that you used to wear daily— the same one that broke when Ao’nung pushed you.
You feel your eyes water, heart pounding in your chest as you stare at Neteyam with adoration in your eyes. He fixed it for you and it looked better than it had before.
“I think you must’ve forgotten some of the pieces in the sand so I collected new shells. I’m sorry it’s not as good as it was before” He apologises shyly as he avoids your eyes, his hands still holding out the necklace.
“I love it, thank you Nete” You throw your arms around him and pull him into you. He feels so warm, the heat emanating from his skin spreading onto your own. You pull away feeling an urge grow inside of you, one that was impulsive and made you do something you probably shouldn’t have.
You press your lips against his— the feeling of you causes him to jolt suddenly but he relaxes into the kiss almost immediately, his hands moving into place on your body.
“I see you” Neteyam almost whispers when you pull away from him, his words causing your heart to pound faster— a smile growing on your face.
“I see you”
You leave separately, Neteyam offers to hang back so you can get home sooner and he can watch you to make sure you make it safely. You can barely contain the smile that’s on your face as you make your way back to the marui, your fingers caressing the necklace that sits on your chest as Neteyam runs your thoughts.
Days pass and you grow even closer to Neteyam, barely hiding the fact the two of you are more than just friends. Ever since you kissed, you two have been more touchy-- constantly holding hands, stealing kisses and almost exposing your secret to the others. You are inseparable. It's a fact that you love and one that Ao'nung is growing to hate more as the days pass. You don't notice the way Tonowari's son scowls at the sight of your side brushing against Neteyam's, at the thought of you seeing him at night-- the thought of Neteyam stealing you away from him.
"Brother, frown any longer and you'll get a sore head" Tsireya teases her brother as she nudges his Ilu with hers. The sound of her voice causes him to pull away from the sight before him-- which is you and Neteyam sitting together on the sand.
"Funny" He huffs, voice monotone as he tries his hardest not to let you disturb his thoughts more than you already have. Ever since he rejected you all those weeks ago, you seemed to have had the opposite effect on him. You plagued his mind, to the point where he's starting to dream of you. Unfortunately, Tsierya found out about his dreams after she overheard him mumbling your name in his sleep.
"She deserves to be happy. You had your chance and you broke her with it. Neteyam is good for her" Tsireya hums, the humour in her tone completely faltered. Ao'nung doesn't respond, he just absentmindedly nods at her words-- a sight that worry's his sister.
Ao'nung decides to approach you both when Tsireya finally leaves to go help their mother. She wouldn't be there to stop him from doing something stupid. Which is exactly what he does.
"Neteyam. Y/N" Ao'nung greets you both, the sound of his voice causes you to exhale before you turn away from Neteyam to look up at him. You give him a questioning look, unaware of why he was approaching you.
"My father wants you to dive and hunt with me” Ao’nung’s statement causes you to frown in slight disbelief. The request sounded strange to say the least, Tonowari knows Ao’nung is more than capable to dive on his own and he usually hunts with Rotxo and the others.
“Where’s Rotxo and Tsireya? They can’t join you?” You try to weasel your way out of having to join him.
“My father asked for you specifically. You shouldn’t defy the chief’s orders” Ao’nung tuts, a sly smirk on his face as he watches a slightly irritated look grow on your face.
“Okay but Neteyam should join. He’s good at hunting” You say, offering a smile to Neteyam who gives you a knowing look. He knows what you’re trying to do and he gives you a slight shake of his head before he agrees.
“I’m free, I could use the extra lessons” Neteyam moves to stand but Ao’nung shakes his head.
“No, Tsireya wants you. She’s teaching Lo’ak a few things by the Marui— they’re important” Ao’nung finalises as he nods his head toward the marui. Neteyam looks as though he doesn’t fully believe him but he gives you an apologetic smile anyway before standing.
“I’ll see you later” He says to you before he walks off, giving you one last glance before he disappears into the far distance. You huff as you look back at Ao’nung who waits for you to stand.
It’s awkward. The silence that fills the space between you both as you swim is so heavy but you can’t help it. Swimming with the boy who rejected and embarrassed you was the last thing you expected to be doing today. He can’t blame you for feeling uncomfortable but you can tell he’s trying.
We should go in there
He signs to you beneath the water, motioning to the small cave with an air pocket. You give him a slight nod before following after him, finally heaving in a breath once you’ve entered the cave. He wades across from you as you both take a few breaths, the silence eating you alive but you try not to seem too bothered by it.
“Uh— how has your day been?” Ao’nung questions you, his tone slightly awkward. You let out a cough before you answer.
“Okay, I guess. Yours?”
“Could be better” He answers coolly, sounding more like himself than he has been recently.
It goes quiet again, the atmosphere almost suffocating as you as you avoid Ao’nung’s eyes. You feel his gaze burn on the side of your face— the feeling causing you to fiddle with your fingers beneath the water. You hear him hum before gently moving closer to you, his movement causing ripples in the water. He brushes a lock of your hair behind your ear, his fingers brushing against your skin.
“You should braid more of your hair. Your curls get in the way of your face” His eyes linger on your face longer than you want him to so you keep your head turned. You choose not to question his random act, he had never touched you so gently— at all in fact, besides the time he pushed you into the sand.
“We should go hunting. Your dad will scold us if we return with nothing” You change the subject before you swim out of the cave— you don’t wait for him before you swim out to the usual hunting area.
You notice Ao’nung a lot more. After your random diving trip, he seemed to be everywhere you turned. No matter what part of the village you found yourself in, Ao’nung was never far away. You’re swimming with Neteyam on your ilus, Ao’nung sits on his own behind you. You’re weaving on the shore and Ao’nung is somehow kicking around on the sand near you. Even during trainings with the Sully’s he’s been acting weird.
“Teyam. It’s this way” You gently guide Neteyam as he works on his signing. He’s been getting better at communicating under water, something you’ve been tutoring him on during your late night hang outs. Besides the fact it’s extra time you get to spend with him uninterrupted, you’ve been using it to teach him how to sign.
“Sorry, I need to keep practicing”
“It’s okay, you’re doing well” You giggle, the sight of you guiding his hands causes Ao’nung to tense up— jealousy surging through him as you smile at Neteyam. Rotxo nudges his side, barely pulling away Ao’nung’s attention.
“Y/N, can you braid my hair? It’s loose” Ao’nung huffs, cutting Rotxo off mid sentence as he gains your attention. You look away from Neteyam toward the chief’s son, his hair already waiting in front of him.
“Uh— okay” You say before reluctantly moving toward Ao’nung’s side of the circle and fixing his long braid for him. He likes the feeling of your fingers gently weaving through his hair. He savours the way you kneel behind him, your skin just grazing his as you quickly redo his braid for him.
“What was that about?” Kiri questions you lowly when you move back to your side of the circle. You shrug unsure of what that was either, Ao’nung usually gets Tsireya to redo his braid but she had to skip this lesson so that’s probably why.
“So shameless, brother” Rotxo scoffs, teasing Ao’nung as they both watch you walk back to the marui after training finished. His friend clearly refers to the stunt Ao’nung pulled earlier with the braid. Ao’nung just rolls his eyes, shoving him gently as they follow behind you.
“You’ll have to choose a mate soon. This would be a good time to pick” Tsireya mutters to her brother as they approach the bonfire surrounded by Na’vi their age. Ao’nung just sighs as he follows after her, mentally preparing for a long night.
Ao’nung is disinterested in all the girls that approach him. He can barely hold conversations with them and makes excuses to cut it short so he can walk off and get some time alone. He wonders where you are, he hasn’t seen you since training earlier in the morning and he expected you would be here. The village held bonfire gatherings every so often for the youth— Ao’nung usually enjoyed them but he barely wanted to be here now. Especially since you were nowhere to be seen.
“But she’s a good hunter” Rotxo tries to reason with Ao’nung as he lists yet another potential mate to his friend. Ao’nung couldn’t care less, he just shrugs— his gaze constantly scanning over the crowd around him, hoping your face would finally appear.
“She talked about finally having an important title the whole time— she’s not genuine” Ao’nung tuts, he doesn’t hide the fact he’s grown bored of the conversation of finding a mate— he just wants to see you.
He’s almost given up hope and prepares to ditch this whole gathering all together until he finally sees you walking in the far distance. His eyes light up at the sight of you, his interest finally peaking until it’s shattered by the sight of Neteyam following closely beside you. He grunts to himself, annoyed that you hadn’t arrived alone. Kiri and Lo’ak trailed behind you both, waving out to Tsireya and Rotxo when they move closer.
You had barely acknowledged him, you just sat down beside Neteyam in the sand with the circle— your attention glued onto him solely as you listen to him talk. Ao’nung chews the inside of his cheek as he feels envy rush through him, wishing it had been him you were staring at so intently.
Another girl approaches Ao’nung, a fisherman’s daughter— someone Ao’nung hadn’t talked to since he was a young boy. This time he doesn’t find ways to chase her away, instead he invites her to join him— patting the spot beside him to mimic exactly how you and Neteyam were positioned.
“You have pretty eyes” Ao’nung compliments her, his voice louder than usual. It was shameless and pathetic but he had hoped you’d overheard him. You proved his plan a success by accidently eavesdropping in on their conversation. You can’t help but feel something about the way he talks to her so sweetly. This was a side of Ao’nung you never got to see, you had more of a chance of being attacked by a Tulkun than getting a compliment from him. It hurt.
Ao’nung hopes you see the way the girl’s hands caress his shoulder gently as they talk, or the way his fingers entwine with hers as they hold hands. It was an impulsive act and a shallow one seeing as the fact he didn’t even want to hold hands with her— he just hoped you would feel jealous the same way he had. You notice, of course you manage to play it off especially since you have Neteyam right beside you.
“Let’s go for a walk” You say to Neteyam before you both get up and walk away from the bonfire to find a more secluded spot. Ao’nung feels his mood drop the moment he sees you stand to leave. He pulls away from the girl— still pretending to listen to her talk but showing signs he was losing interest in her. You weren’t there so he didn’t care anymore.
Ao’nung doesn’t see you again, you didn’t return to the bonfire and even though he looked for you in the crowd as it was finishing— he still didn’t find you. He returned to his marui feeling worse than he did when he left. He went to sleep that night with you on his mind— knowing he would yet again dream of you.
He wakes randomly due to the ocean breeze that tickles at his skin. Ao’nung shivers slightly as he sits up, stretching as he looks over at his sleeping family before he stands. He’s not sure what time of the night it is but it’s still dark out. He decides to take a breather and gently moves to stand in the entry of their marui pod.
He narrows his eyes when he sees you in the far distance, hand in hand with Neteyam as you both walk away from your marui pods. Ao’nung feels his jaw tense, hands ball into fists as he watches you both run off. He remembered he promised you he wouldn’t tell anyone of your secret meetups with Neteyam— he respected that promise for weeks, but right now— Ao’nung doesn’t care about broken promises, he couldn’t stand watching you with Neteyam any longer. Ao’nung huffs before he leaves his marui and makes his way toward yours.

“Collision” Updates (i’m so sorry 💔 )
Hello everyone!
For those of who who have been waiting on my fic “Collision”, this is for you.
So, I have good news. And I have some bad news.
Good news is I finished the first 3 chapters.
Bad news is, I'm re-writing all of it currently.
I apologize for this delay.
(yes fandom I know we've had enough of the delays lately but bear with me bby’s, I promise i’m working my hardest 😭)
The problem is, I just didn't like how it was turning out. And I want to give you guys the best experience I possibly can through my writing.
I’ve been working all night on the first chapter layout and I promise you guys, it's looking so much better.
In the meantime, here are some sneak peaks of what I've added so far.
1. Y/n is apart of a fictional na’vi clan I created called the ‘Sekani’ tribe. I am Native American, and it is based off of my own tribe because na’vi culture is pieced off of factual aspects of Native culture. I thought it would be a great opportunity to share the experience of feeling like a na’vi id my readers were shown a world based off of a real tribe.
2. It does not follow the events of ATWOW, so unfortunately, we lack characters like Ao’nung, Tsireya, Rotxo, Ronal, and Tonowari.
But, to make up for it, I have created characters that are very closely modeled and based after them.
3. The Sekani are very similar to the Tayrangi, but more governed.
4. I'm doing a ‘find all of the parallels and references from the first movie’ thing with Lo’ak and the reader.
5. Sekani wear white paint around their eyes almost similar to eyeliner.
6. Enemies to lovers type shit.
7. I wanted to be inclusive, so due to the Sekani climate, they can have any texture of hair (culry, straight, wavy, braids, love, etc)
8. Y/n’s personality is strongly similar to Annabeth from the ‘Percy Jackson’ series for those who are familiar.
9. Lots of bonding with the Sully family along with your adventure with Lo’ak.
10: I know at least one of you is thinking it, and no.
Neteyam does not die. The only deaths are minor characters, the only major death is one I refuse to spoil so read and find out.
Let me know if you have anymore questions about this story, or the Sekani clan, (because it's based off of my tribe lol) I will be happy to post more info.
Thank you all for your patience
(also do we want a new cover design or naw?)
Old one Possible new one

Astray (Ao’nung!)
Tumblr media
Ao’nung x Metkayina Reader
part 1
Synopsis: You’ve been in love with Ao’nung since as long as you can remember. And for just as long, he’s constantly pushed you away. He’s made it clear he doesn’t want you. Yet when the Sully’s arrive in Awa’atlu and the eldest boy shows an interest in you, Ao’nung starts to regret his actions.
warnings: angst, bullying.
a/n: I’m obsessed with Avatar rn & I couldn’t not write for my two boyfriends lmao
Tumblr media
You see him roll his eyes before you’ve even approached him on the sand. Brushing the wet curls away from your eyes, you smile widely at the Olo’eyktan’s son, the same boy you’ve known since the moment you could walk. You’re aware he isn’t too fond of your presence but you’ve done your best to befriend him regardless. Being practically like a sister to his own Tsireya, that factor made it slightly easier to get closer to the boy. But still your attempts never flourished into anything besides you left feeling foolish and embarrassed.
Everytime you’ve suggested doing anything alone with him he either shrugs you off or avoids contact with you before you can even try. You’ll be making a direct beeline toward him and he’ll already be turning in the other direction, hastily trying to catch up to Rotxo and the other boys. His coldness toward you is paired with the usual ‘banter’ you share, in which he insults you and finds new ways to tease you. Anyone with good sense would find this treatment unappealing but you held out more hope for Ao’nung than he deserved.
“Ao’nung!” You call out as you step from beyond the water to approach him. The look on his face already tells you enough but you ignore the signs, ecstatic that you’ve finally caught him alone. He’s usually swarmed by Roxto and the other boys in the Reef, their uneasy presence making your job harder.
“What do you want?” He tuts, his forehead creased as he wears an agitated look on his face. You ignore it, yet again.
“I—I didn’t see you earlier at breakfast. Just wanted to talk, that’s all” You hum, your eyes lowering from his intense gaze, fiddling with the beads on your necklace nervously.
“That’s because I was hiding from you” He snickers, kicking the soft sand with his foot as he turns to glance at the marui pods at the village.
“I have an important meeting to attend to with my father. Meet me back here at night fall. We can talk then” He hums with a slight smile on his face. Before you can even respond or question his sudden act of kindness he walks off back to the marui pods and leaves you speechless.
He’s never suggested meeting you at night before, his request is strange but you don’t question it— instead you thank Eywa for finally blessing you with this. It’ll be a way forward for the two of you and maybe Ao’nung would finally feel the same way about you. A smile grows on your face as you make your way back to your own marui pod, butterflies already raging in your stomach as you thought about all the possibilities for tonight.
You wait for your parents to drift off into deep slumber before you finally leave your pod, glancing at your parents one last time before you quietly tip toe out onto the walkway. You hear your heart pounding in your ears as you walk along the beach, the waves crashing against the shore as your feet leave imprints in the sand. You feel confused as you see no sign of Ao’nung, standing exactly where you had talked earlier— you hoped he was just waiting to sneak out.
“He’ll be here soon” You try to reassure yourself as you wait a little while longer, your fingers tightening around the necklace that rested against your chest.
Defeated after waiting for what feels like an eternity, you finally stand and dust the sand from your legs before you decide to just go back home. Perhaps he couldn’t leave his home, you understood how strict his parents were, being a child of such important people to the village, you were aware of how hard they were on their kids.
As you’re walking back from where you came, you hear someone laugh from behind you. Confused, you turn— eyes meeting Ao’nung's who laughs cruelly as he stares at you. He isn’t alone, Rotxo and two of his other friends are with him and they begin to circle you.
“I told you she’d fall for it” Ao’nung smirks, closing you in so you’re completely surrounded by his friends.
“This isn’t funny guys. Leave me alone” You stutter out, almost losing your footing as you’re constantly moving— trying to find a way out of this.
“You didn’t want to leave Ao’nung alone— so why should we?” Rotxo snorts before he shoves you slightly by your shoulder, you stumble— causing them all to laugh.
“You thought he’d finally confess his love for you? I see you— is that what you want to hear from him?” His other friend mocks you, the sound of his words and the truth behind them causing your face to warm in embarrassment.
“It’s true. Look at her she’s blushing”
“Please just let me go home” You mutter, growing overwhelmed by the boys that surround you. You felt like you were being suffocated, struggling to breathe as they held you hostage.
“You’ll leave me alone from now on. You won’t follow me around like a little baby anymore and you’ll stop clinging onto me— understood?” Ao’nung says lowly as he steps closer to you, his lips dangerously close to your ear as he utters his words. You nod silently, holding your breath as you wait for him to finally pull away.
“Freak” He chuckles before he pulls away and uses force to push you— causing you to stumble and collide onto the sand with a loud thud. Your face hits the ground first, the impact causing you to feel winded and your new wound to throb instantly. You feel hot tears trail down your face as you watch them leave, laughing amongst themselves as they playfully push each other.
You knew he didn’t like you but you never thought he’d do something so cruel. You’ve been nothing but kind and caring toward him and he repays you by throwing it in your face like this. You no longer saw a boy you longed for, you had once dreamed of being his wife but now you saw nothing for the two of you. You meant nothing to him, you only realised that now. How foolish and naive could you have been.
Your hands shake as you reach for your beaded necklace only to find the space absent on your chest, your eyes widen as you quickly shift onto your knees— tears clouding your vision even more as you realise your necklace was broken. The one your mother had painstakingly pieced together for your twelfth birthday was in ruin— the beads and shells strewn across the sand.
You sniffled as you picked up every piece you could find, wiping away the tears from your face with the back of your hand as you did. You barely slept that night, your tears never ending as you replayed every moment again in your head.
The next day you pretend as though everything is normal, you lie to your parents saying that the scar on your forehead was from a graze against coral during your dive. They don’t question it and neither does Tsireya when you meet her after you’ve eaten.
“So clumsy, my sister. Please be more careful” She tuts as she smears some of her mother’s paste over the cut. I smile at her as she lovingly cares for me, far more than her brother ever had.
You pretend he doesn’t exist, seeing as the village isn’t extremely big— you were bound to run into him and his friends. You combat this problem by doing exactly as he asked, you stopped glancing at him— looking at him altogether. You wouldn’t run up to him to try and gain mere minutes of his attention and you didn’t bother suggesting anything anymore. You stopped trying to exist to him.
Ao’nung noticed the drastic change instantly. You didn’t cling onto him or call out to him unnecessarily. You didn’t even glance his way once— not even when he called out to Tsireya to ask her a question whilst you were right by her side. You just focused your attention elsewhere until he walked off.
He should feel relieved. He is to an extent, this is what he’s wanted for years. You’d finally stop nagging him and he could finally find another woman in the village to connect with without you being on his tail. He should be grateful it’s stopped, but he doesn’t feel as satisfied with the change as much as he thought he would.
It was tradition for you to eat with their family every second day, you had been doing it since you were little and Tonowari and Ronal welcomed you with open arms. You were practically like their third child and the sister Tsireya didn’t have yet. Ao’nung is confused when he enters his family’s murui pod and notices that you aren’t there.
“Where is y/n?” Ao’nung questions as he reluctantly sits down in his usual spot. Tsireya is unphased as she answers, too focused on cooking the last of the fish.
“She feels sick so she’s not coming. I’m taking soup for her later”
Ao’nung already knew you weren’t sick and it bothered him slightly that his words would cause you to distance yourself from his family— sure he’d be there but he figured he’d just stay clear of your way. He ate in silence that night, his mind too plagued with thoughts of you to try and converse with his family over dinner.
It’s been weeks since the incident and you’ve managed to keep up with your silence toward Ao’nung. You haven’t spoken a word or barely looked at him and it’s grown easier as the days have passed. You’re wading in the water with your ilu, hand caressing it’s head delicately as you enjoy the fish that swim around you. You wait patiently for Tsireya beside her pod, huffing as you wait longer than you expect.
“Apologies my sister— I was showing the Sully’s some of the village” Tsireya apologises as she stands on the dock, the Omatakiyan kids following behind her. You had heard of their arrival just a day ago but you were out diving when they had first shown up so you missed the theatrics of their arrival.
You introduce yourself to them and they do the same in return, your eye catching onto one of them in particular— one who seems to be the oldest. His eyes were glued onto you first, a look of awe on his face that caused you to look away shyly.
“They will swim with us today. I figured we could both help them…along with Ao’nung and Rotxo” Tsireya says lowly to you when she swims toward you, still keeping a close eye on the Sully kids who paddle toward you. You huff when you see Ao’nung and Rotxo approaching the water, you turn before you can gain his attention and focus on Tuk who’s splashing around.
“You’re a graceful swimmer” Neteyam says after we’ve all swam a few meters away from the marui pods. He purposely lagged behind the group to swim with you, the gesture causing your chest to warm. You smile at him as you stop swimming, causing him to do the same.
“Thank you— I never used to be. I splashed around too much, apparently I looked like I was drowning half of the time” You chuckle, earning a laugh from the older boy.
“Mistakes are what made you such a good swimmer today, you would’ve never learnt without them” Neteyam says wisely.
“You’re definitely the oldest. You are by far the wisest” He smiles at your words before questioning you.
“Do you have siblings of your own?”
“Sadly, no. I was the only child my parents managed to bore. I see the love you share between your siblings, I adore it very much” You state, noting the way there seems to be a glimmer in his eye from your words.
The two of you talk for the rest of the lesson, finding out more about each other bit by bit. Both of you learn more about the forest and Sea people and the way you both grew up— fascinated by the differences between the two. In all honesty you were too engrossed in your own conversation that you had forgotten about the lessons— unlike the others who watched you both from afar.
“I doubt Neteyam learnt anything. He’s been too busy making heart eyes at your friend” Lo’ak teases as he states the obvious infront of the whole group who sit on the rocks away from the water. Ao’nung’s feels his hands ball into a fist at the sight, growing irritated by both of you. The Sully boy had been here for merely a day and he had already won you over. Ao'nung silently wishes it were him that is making you laugh, the reason you wear a smile so big. He looks away bitterly, concealing the fact he's bothered by it.
"You breathe from here" You instruct, mirroring the actions Tsireya had been using on Lo'ak. You notice the way Neteyam's face warms at the feeling of your hands on his skin, his breathing hitching slightly under your touch.
"Just as Lo'ak is doing.... good, just like that" You hum, praising the boy in front of you. You're unaware of the eyes of the boy you had once begged Eywa to court you burning on the sight of you. Ao'nung couldn't tear his eyes away from you, he needed to interfere somehow-- he had seen enough.
"Perhaps I need help with my breathing as well y/n" You hear Ao'nung tease you from across the rocks you're all grouped on. You give him a deadpan look-- your hands still on Neteyam's torso.
"You're not funny" You scoff before turning back toward Neteyam, muttering besides I would let him drown, causing Neteyam to let out a laugh. Ao'nung catches the sight of that, huffing in annoyance he stands to leave.
The days pass and you find yourself growing closer to Jake Sully’s eldest son. You mentor him during your lessons, swim with him even after you’ve finished for the day and explore the reef with him. You both skip dinner most nights to spend that time together— something that his siblings now tease you both about. When you’re together you don’t miss the way he gazes at you longingly sometimes, admiration in his eyes as you show him the beauty of your home.
“Do you miss your home?” You question him as you both sit on the sand, legs practically touching as you both face the water.
“Yeah, I do. The forest was all I ever knew— I didn’t know how beautiful the reefs are. But I’m grateful in the change, it’s led me to you” Neteyam hums and you feel a smile creep onto your face as you glance at him— his eyes already focused on your face.
“You’re a sweet boy, Nete” You lean your head against his shoulder, harnessing the warmth on his skin for your own.
“Meet me here at night. I want to give you something” His words remind you of Ao’nung’s the night he lead you astray— lied to you and embarrassed you in front of his friends. Although you’ve only known Neteyam for a short time, you knew he would never do the same thing.
You agree to meet later before you depart, humming to yourself as you make your way to the chief’s marui pod. You felt guilty for skipping dinner with their family for so long so you decided to attend tonight— despite the fact you didn’t want to see Ao’nung, you would bare his presence for them.
“I see you have been getting along with the Sully boy quite well” Ronal hums as she passes the woven basket full of food to you. Ao’nung scoffs at the mention of Neteyam— silently swearing he would drown him the next chance he gets.
“Neteyam is kind to me and he makes me laugh. He’s a good friend and he’ll be useful here. He’s already learning well” You hum, smiling to yourself at the thought of the boy you were going to meet tonight.
“He’s a forest boy. I still think he’s useless” Ao’nung laughs, forcing you to avert your attention to him. Finally. He thinks to himself, this is the first time tonight that you’ve actually bothered to look at him.
“Skxawng. You’re just jealous y/n found someone better than you” Tsireya hisses at him, causing him to give her a warning look. Before the arguing can continue any further, their parents demand they end it and eat in peace. You stay longer than you expect, busily talking to Ronal and Tsireya— you don’t realise that it’s night fall already and you cut your time short.
“Sorry for leaving so suddenly… I forgot my mother wanted me to help her with weaving” You lie, offering an apologetic smile to the family before you hastily leave their marui pod. Ao’nung eyes you as you walk off, unaware he’s even watching you— you don’t bother pretending to walk back to your own home.
You’re pulled away and pushed up against a mangrove tree beside you, the suddenness causing you to feel winded almost as you try to make out who’s attacked you. Before you can even let out a sound, their hand clamps over your mouth. It’s far too dark to make out who it is but you recognise his features and the way his hands feel.
It’s Ao’nung.
