FREE SWATCH CARD
Why not start the new year right with organizing your art supplies and have a nice swatch card with them?
I made a free printable swatch card just for that and you can find it at my ko-fi
So let's talk about the cards. I suggest printing them at A5 size with paper that suits you media well (eg: 190g/m² watercolor paper for your water based media)
You can use this for pretty much any art supply as you have 1 extra row for each color and one extra space at the bottom so you can add any extra info (such as light fastness or even score it for yourself, add notes and so on!)
Happy swatching everyone!

OH GOD I forgot to post this here, but I remade my old 300GSM Watercolor sketchbooks from a couple years ago! This time, upgraded cover design with slight embossing, golden accessories, GILDED EDGES which I’m obsessed with, and can take even the heaviest mediums very well! 60 individual pages, it also LAYS FLAT omg. That way you don’t have to fight against the sketchbook while you’re drawing bc that’s the most annoying part of sketchbooks sometimes.
I’ve tested this with copic markers, permanent markers, ink pens, colored pencils, crayola markers, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pencils of all kinds, etc etc.. nearly no bleed through and absolutely no footprint on the other side. I’m sooo happy with these.
These will be in my store today at 12 pm PST! Definitely a warning: these were expensive for me to produce so the price tag might be a little steep, but here’s a more accessible alternative! You can find 300 GSM watercolor paper pads at most art stores or online for much cheaper. I just want everyone to experience this amazing paper it’s so good hahaha I worked so hard on these.

Link to my store there :) Thank you guys... this will.. help me pay off my medical bills and also my service dog’s recent vet bills aaaaaaaaaahhh hahaa.

Tip: How to tell if a paintbrush is of good quality.
Bristles should be densely packed.
Should not have more than a couple loose bristles.
The ferrule is the metal piece that secures everything. The metal should not be thin as it's less secure. It should be crimped, as it helps add grip and makes the glue hold on better which keeps the bristles and ferrule securely attached to the handle. Glue should not be visible or dried outside of the ferrule.
The handle should not feel hollow or thin.
EX:
Thick metal on the ferrule, crimping, sturdy, wooden handle, securely attached ferrule, only two loose bristles in the couple weeks I've had it, densely packed bristles, genuine hog bristles.
Cheap hollow plastic handle, glue leakage from ferrule, no crimping, crooked ferrule, lots of bristle shed, cheap thin aluminum ferrule.

Your art is wonderful! Am I correct in assuming you work in pastel? If so, what pastels do you use? What got you started as an artist, and what drew you to your medium?
Also thanks for the love on my intro post <3
thank you!! I’m so grateful! and you’re quite right, my non-digital art is almost always done in mixed media, and pastel is one of my favourite art supply to work with but it’s always pastel plus something else. f. e. it could be oil pastel + pastel pencils + markers / or crayons / or coloured pencils / or ink / or something else / or everything in the same time.
I use soft pastels set from Faber-Castell and I l o v e pastel pencils (and h a t e to sharpen them lol) which I have from very different brands: my favourite are from Caran d'Ache but they aren’t very cheap, so mostly there are Derwent pastel pencils in my pencil case. As for oil pastel, I prefer Sennelier’s. I know that they’re hated by some artists for being too soft but I personally adore them for that. And of course they aren’t very cheap either, so if I need more colors I just go to the nearest children’s art supply store and buy Van Gogh oil pastel from Royal talents.
I’ve been drawing all my life, but I’ve had kind of huge hiatus for 4-5 or even more years because I thought that if I’m a poet I can only write, that is to say I need to concentrate only on one thing and can’t waste my energy on other stuff (I was mistaken). But then something’s happened (many things actually) and I felt a drive to make visual art again and ever since (for 1-2 years now) I paint, I draw every day. I’m still a poet first but now I can procrastinate from poetry through visual art (」°ロ°)」((´ ∀ ` *)
Mixed media is boundless, lack of boundaries is a constant freedom, that’s something that I was always looking for. If you’re talking about pastel, I had a set of soft pastels when I was a child — was making pretty dummy sunsets and tried to copy ballerinas of Degas (((¬‿¬ )
And you’re very welcome! Thanks again for an interesting question.

17, 19, and 25 for the artist asks!
Oh, hi there! 17 Let me see... Ur inspiration...
There is a super-talented author who ALWAYS made my mind blow up. Her stories are engaging and entertaining and can turn my worst day into my best in a few hours. I can read from her fluff and smut, whichever I need atm. And the feels what I get when I read those fanfics... Sometimes I didn't even finish a chapter, I needed to stop and search for my iPad to start drawing right away! In mid-sentence! And I can't concentrate on anything till it's finished...
There is another super-talented author who I adore, and I love every fanfic from her. She usually makes me drop everything else too, and I just need to do a fanart of her fics because they are so fun, moving, and hot 🥰 Looking at you @foreverforty2 👀💙😇
Other sources of inspirations are the same old boring places, the comics, the books, and of course endless hours of DAYDREAMING 😇🫠
19. Rec. Art Supply
I hope I understand the question 😂
Uhm... Currently, I use a 2016 iPad pro with a 1. gen apple pencil for sketches and line art, and sometimes for coloring. But the number of layers are limited there. So, I don't recommend doing anything serious.
But my lovely and sweet husband lend me over his 2021 iPad pro with the 2. gen apple pencil. That's the stuff! It's fast and has plenty of power to maintain as many layers as I wish. For anything serious, I would recommend that.
25 Piece U can't finish... uh no!
I shamefully present you this:
I would be so happy If I would finish this! But sadly, I'm unable to continue it. I tried countless times, but every time I tried to touch it, it became worse...
It's frustrating and sad at the same time, but I hope one day I'll be able to finish it!
Ty for asking! 🥰💙😈🐁

Tip: hardness is how hard or soft an art supply is. (duh) The reason this is specified is because soft materials put down more pigment while harder ones put down less, appearing lighter on the page. This allows for more control in shading which is why artist grade pencils and pastels often offer a range of hardness.
{note- the softer it is the more trouble it will have maintaining a point.}
