Toby is up and down a lot during the night, so he'd probably run into you sometime during one of his many bathroom/snack runs

At first he thinks you're also on a snack run, but when he notices that you are just kind of...staring off into space he becomes suspicious

He puffs out his lips and tilts his head with a "hm."

He walks up to you and taps your shoulder, startling you a bit

"Sorry." He says, coming to place both hands on your shoulders "you've been here for over an hour, you ok?"

You nod and rub your eyes "yeah, sorry for worrying you" you say with a yawn

He smiles and kisses your forehead "it's ok, now that I know you're alright"

He takes your hands in his and pulls you towards him gently "now come back to bed, im touch starved" he says with a grin

Jeff is a very light sleeper, so the second he feels you shifting away from him, he's up

By the time he rubs the sleep from his eyes, you are already out the door, leaving him slightly annoyed that you didn't notice him waking up with you

He throws on a shirt and walks down the stairs, seeing you pacing around with a bag of smarties in hand, eating them as your mind seemingly drifts off into space

He sighs and rubs his face some more, before walking up behind you and trapping you in a hug, placing three warm kisses to your shoulder "what are you doin' up this early loser?"

You exhale loudly and bring a hand up to rub his head "just....thinking..." you mutter

He kisses you again, this time on the cheek "alright, I'll quit buggin' you. Come back to bed soon, though. You know I can't sleep well without you"

He presses yet another kiss to your cheek, before letting go of you and going back upstairs

When you finally decide to head back upstairs yourself, you grab an energy drink so that maybe once jeff falls asleep again, you can come back downstairs and think some more

When you get back into the room, jeff is laying on the bed, seemingly asleep, until he notices your presence

He moves his head to look at you, before sitting up and stretching "pulling an all nighter, huh?" he asks, gesturing to the energy drink in your hands

You glance at it, before nodding "yeah, I guess so"

He sighs tiredly and yawns "alright, i reckon I'm staying up too, then" he says with a grin

BEN, having no need to sleep, rarely does so

He instead uses his nights to play video games or catch up on some work he fell behind

Tonight, when he had thought you'd fallen asleep, he got up and turned on his PC, pulling up steam and looking for a new game to play

While he was doing this, you got up and snuck out of the room, going downstairs to do your usual routine of just pacing around and staring into space

He plays his new game for quite a while, before getting bored and looking behind him to check on you

When he sees that you are not there, an eyebrow is raised

He pauses the game and gets up from his chair, looking around for you in various places you'd be in

He finds you in the gym, pacing around. He assumes you picked the gym because it's mostly empty, so you won't be disturbed

He walks over to you and steals a handful of your snacks "whatcha doing" he asks with his mouth full

"Thinking" you reply, not bothering to stop moving around

"Kay, well don't stay up too late, I wanna play animal crossing with you tomorrow" he says, squishing your face and kissing your squished up lips

He is about to go out of the gyms door before he pauses and looks back at you "also, bring me a soda once you're done" he then steps out, closes the door, and goes back upstairs

THE SPECIFICS OF THIS SHOT. i was gonna make a post a while ago being like "idk i find it funny that the main focus of this shot isnt even one of the poets" and then i realised that WAITTTTTTT THATS THE POINT!!!! keating reached kids besides the poets!!! u didnt have to be in the dead poets society to be affected by the way he taught his classes!!! u just had to be his student!!!!! also i love the fact that the kids who stayed seated r ASHAMED. the ending shot. oihghgghgg. it was SUCH a choice to set it up this way and honestly i adore peter for making it. this shot is SOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE TO LOOK AT and i love it. when i first watched this i was like "uhm ok interesting choice putting todd between this kids legs but I GET IT. one of the biggest things i remember from the film classes i took is that the way u set up shots is sooo important narratively, and one way to rly push the narrative is the space around a character in a shot. for example! if u have a character on screen surrounded by a TON of negative space then it rly emphasises how alone/ isolated they are. on the other end of the spectrum (the todd spectrum), if you surround a character in a shot with other objects or obstructions, like todd and this kids legs, then it rly emphasises how trapped and confined they are. looking at this makes me feel like. claustrophobic almost, like it's genuinely a bit harder to breathe looking at it. TODD IS STILL TRAPPED IN THAT SCHOOL. YES HE STOOD ON THE DESK AND YES HE NOW HAS THE MOTIVATION TO BE MORE CONFIDENT BC OF NEIL BUT HE! IS STILL! TRAPPED THERE!

Movie night at Steve’s house either went two ways. If Robin was there, all three of them would squish on the same couch together (despite Steve’s huge living room), with a bowl of popcorn sat in Y/N’s lap as she was usually in the middle. They would talk and laugh throughout the whole movie, and would have a great time. If Robin wasn’t there, Y/N would be practically asleep on Steve’s shoulder by the end of the movie.

When Robin joined them, she spent the time laughing with her friend and enjoying the time with both of them, and whilst she did lean against Steve throughout the movie, she wasn’t entirely focused on him. But when they were alone she couldn’t get close enough to him. Most of the time his arm would be tucked around her back so she could completely wedge her shoulder underneath his armpit, snuggled into his side. All she could feel was his warmth against her skin and all she could smell was his cologne, and that was enough to have her dozing off on his shoulder by the time that the movie was over. Steve’s parents were never home so usually he would wake her briefly so they could go to lay down in his bed, but she would sleep happily for the rest of the night. They didn’t watch movies in the day anymore for that reason.

Dustin would join them sometimes, and by that she meant he would just drop in unannounced halfway through the movie after he’d spent the day with his friends. Sometimes he squished in between Steve and Y/N on the sofa, and sometimes she’d get woken up by Dustin excitedly rambling to Steve about something, whilst the latter tried to shut him up because Y/N was asleep against his side.

She probably spent even more time at Steve’s house as winter drew closer and closer, the chilly October air rounding her into his house sooner than usual like a dog rounded sheep.

He had given her a key to his house in late September, when he noticed her arriving earlier and earlier to Family Video to meet him from work most nights of the week. She didn’t mind waiting; she spoke to Steve and Robin, and even helped with anything that needed doing something just to lighten the load on the others a little. She knew he didn’t like her waiting, though. He didn’t want her to get bored waiting for them.

“Hey,” It was an hour until he finished on the first Friday of October, and she had turned up with a smile, despite the rain that drenched her head to toe. Steve had come around the counter to greet her, and pressed a kiss to her temple before he gently brought her aside. “I’ve got something for you. Close your eyes and hold your hand out.”

Y/N playfully rolled her eyes though did as she was told, her eyelids fluttering shut as her hand opened palm-up. Steve lifted her hand to press a soft kiss to her fingers which made her giggle, before he dropped something small into her palm. When he told her that she could open her eyes, the fluorescents reflected against a key in her hand.

She stared at it for a moment, before she looked up at her boyfriend with a confused expression. “Thanks?”

Steve chuckled as he fondly shook his head. “It’s a key. They’re used to open doors, sometimes cabinets,” He teased, and she huffed as her arm knocked against his gently. “It’s a key for my house.”

She looked up at him then, her eyes softening as her lips parted in surprise. “Steve…”

“My parents are never home and now that it’s getting colder I don’t want you waiting for me here. You can just wait at mine and get comfy.” He shrugged, like it was nothing. Like giving her a key to his house was nothing.

Steve seemed surprised when she practically flung herself at him in a hug, and pressed a kiss to her head when he held her closer with an arm around her wait. She mumbled a thanks into his neck, and closed her eyes as he held her closer, both of them momentarily ignoring Robin as she complained that Steve wasn’t helping her.

She used his key most times they were planning to spend the evening together. She still came to meet him sometimes, though; when his parents were actually home or if she’d just had a bad day and needed to see him sooner. But every time she did use the key, she smiled fondly to herself as she used it to unlock his front door, sweetened by the memory of him giving it together.

It was storming on the last Tuesday of November. Y/N didn’t mind storms, but the rain that had drenched her was freezing, and by the time she had gotten into Steve’s house she was shaking with the cold. It would only be half an hour until Steve got home, she told herself. She could wait that long. Barely.

She had a drawer of things in his bedroom, and Steve had no problem with washing her clothes with his, so the first thing she did was go straight up to his bedroom and peeled off the soaked clothes from her skin, and pulled on her pyjamas once her wet clothes were in his washing basket. Her pyjama trousers were thick, and probably would have warmed her up in no time on a normal day, but she was still trembling from the cold as she walked around Steve’s room, putting some of his things away for him. She was debating just getting into his bed to warm up when her fingers clasped around a yellow jumper that hung off of his bed frame. He had been wearing it the day before; he knew it was one of her favourites on him. Without thinking she pulled the soft jumper over her head, sighing as she pushed her arms through the too-long sleeves. It still smelled like his musky cologne, and she took a deep breath through her nose as she pressed it into the collar. The smell was calming, and maybe it was that or the warmth of the jumper that slowly stopped her trembling.

By the time Steve was home, she was curled up on his sofa with a book in her hand just to distract her until he was back. He was soaked too, but his raincoat kept most of him from getting too wet.

“Hey sweetheart,” Steve dumped his bag onto the nearest surface before he leaned over the back of the sofa to kiss the top of her head. “Good day?”

She hummed, a smile across her lips as she tilted her head to look up at Steve. He halted her answer by pressing a kiss to her lips, and she giggled quietly as he pulled away. “Yeah. You?”

“Busy.” Steve pulled a face and kissed her again, before he started rambling about his shift as he hung up his coat and grabbed the movie from his bag that he had brought for them to watch, putting it into the cassette player before he joined her on the couch.

“What’re we watching?” Y/N asked as she tucked herself into his side, glancing at the movie trailers on the screen before she looked up at her boyfriend.

“I’ll be watching The Goonies, but you’ll probably be watching the inside of your eyelids,” Steve teased, and she fondly rolled her eyes. His hand snuck around her waist to the bottom of the jumper, where she expected him to slip his hand under to rest against her bare waist like usual, but instead he glanced down at her and poked her where she was ticklish, eliciting a quiet giggle. “Are you stealing from me now?”

“No,” She laughed, and shuffled even closer to him when his warm palm finally met her bare side. “I was cold when I got here and it was on the end of your bed…” She trailed off, pink blooming in the apples of her cheeks.

She had worn his clothes countless times, but only after Steve had offered. She had never taken anything without asking, and for a moment she was worried that he wasn’t okay with it. But Steve swallowed the worry with a soft kiss, and gently rubbed her waist with his thumb as he pulled back to look at her.

“It suits you better,” He told her with a shrug, doing nothing to help her flushed cheeks. “But, y’know, I think basically anything would suit you better. ‘Cause you’re just so pretty, like crazy pretty, and-“

She cut off his rambled compliments with a kiss, her face blazing, and he laughed into her mouth as he held onto her tighter. “Thanks, but shh.” She mumbled after a moment, and Steve laughed louder as he kissed her cheek.

“Sorry, baby,” His cheek rested against the top of her head as she got settled against his shoulder. “I feel so bad that I was complimenting my girlfriend. Really, what am I going to do?”

“Shut up.” She mumbled, and he laughed again as the film finally started.

Steve was right, she would have probably been asleep within an hour. The sensation of his thumb running along her bare skin was enough to make her eyelids flutter, and his jumper was so cozy that she could just curl up and sleep for hours on end. As her eyelids struggled to stay open about thirty minutes into the movie, she knew that once the tape finished he would gently take her up to his bed, and she would sleep happily beside him the whole night. His warmth pushed against her like gentle waves, and combined with the occasional kiss to her temple, it was almost like he was trying to get her to sleep.

A soft smile was on her lips as she allowed her eyes to shut, relaxed and happy in his arms.

journal/braindump 26/3/24

i hope life gets better soon. school is so miserable and weird and i just constantly feel like my physical shape is blurred and i'm but a a faceless entity drifting through the crowded and sweaty halls. when i speak to people it feels like i have to physically force myself to and i'm always so conscious of the fact that i would really love it if i were alone and not speaking to anybody at all.

i don't feel confident in myself and i feel like this year has passed by way too fast and i feel like just attempting to live feels like a bunch of cold sand is piled in my hands, and like sand does, it slips easily through my fingers and all i can do is watch. i feel so stupid and so naive all the damn time

for a while i had believed that everything would be okay, and then for a while after that i believed that i should kill myself. i'm okay now, i still feel very unsettled and it's like i'm not really me but i feel fine enough to function and i feel fine enough to live and wish to keep on living

i wish to keep on living

tomorrow i will wake up early and i will make myself coffee and i will sit down and read (i've had reading block for 2 days- which seems short but its annoying for me bc i really really want to read but i feel too restless and distracted to). i'll try to be nice to myself and protect my peace really hard and go on walks or something

i find that watching youtube videos where people just sit and talk, or rearrange their house and books, is really calming to me. i can't wait to just sit in front of the tv with a cup of matcha and a box of chocolates and just watching people talk, or watch all the movies ive been meaning to watch for sooo long

autumn is rolling around, and i'm infinitely greatful that it is because i always feel so inspired during this season. autumn makes me want to read, it makes me want to watch more films and eat more food and drink warm drinks that make me feel okay inside.

i also hope to pick up journalling again, but i'm not sure if i will because i don't have my own printer for images and idk what to journal but i have recently tried to just draw pictures- ive recently written journal pages on what i want to read, and also an "about me" page, and hand drew pictures. it's nice, but it doesn't give the same effect as full out journalling (with stickers, images, tape, etc... sigh.). i hope i journal more this holiday nonetheless.

i also hope to read without feeling so much pressure. i usually have no problem with reading whatever i want to read, as i like to think of myself as somebody who isnt easily influenced by other people's views (eg. if someone told me i have to read a certain book, i will consider it but i wont read it unless i want to) , but lately i've been thinking of all the books i want to read this holiday (for me i have autumn break in one week- and autumn break lasts for 2 weeks) and as u can imagine, it is very stressful bc ive somehow fallen into the mindset that i must read ALL of those books before next term or else.

- hamlet

- the metamorphosis

soo yeah... especially the first two points are stressing me out haha... im starting the poppy war now but im a little nervous bc ppl keep saying that its VERY gory??? and i usually dont care abt such things but lately my nerves and emotions have been such a wreck that i dont trust myself to read it in a calm manner

i'll try to break free of this toxic reader mindset tho! it would be nice if i could talk to people abt books, so it feels like im engaging with my hobby while not actually having to do the hobby, but nobody ik irl will want to talk abt books as i do

ummm also i have literature class tmr and i love lit class but we have to watch fucking "shes the man" and im sorry but i hate that movie so so much (ive never watched it before but we watched half of it last lesson and it was soo annoying). ughh why is my eng teacher making us watch this 😭😭

also my eng teacher is very blunt and therefore very interesting to talk to so ive been wanting to ask him abt books hes read lately but i CANT bc we have to watch thats tupid fucking movie and also he has to mark papers :( but also like hes the only intellectually stimulating person ik irl so what am i meant to do with all of my buzzing book thoughts ughh (rhetorical question. pls dont answer) :(

oh yeah last night i had a dream tjat i got a B+ for english and that was... it was like a nightmare im not even kidding. it was such a vivid dream too- everybody else got an A meanwhile i got a B+ (very close to an A) and i was just absolutely shocked and i desperately begged my teacher to give me some extra credit work so i can bump it up to an A-... yeah...

oh but also back to me wanting to have a better life- i think i'll take myself to the thrift more and go out with my friend (yes, singular. theres only one friend that i like hanging out with outside of school 💀) atleast once this holiday... thats what teen girls my age do, right??? haha...

also i want to watch ladybird and the perks of being a wallflower and rewatch little women and dead poets society !

i also might reread solitaire but aghh that makes me stressed out abt reading again... fuck. maybe i should just take a break from reading omfg

i cant wait to wake up early tomorrow and drink coffee though! :)

a/n: this is not niche at all, and it was a great topic to write for. hope you get migraines less often and the experience is less painful to you ♡

Getting home by 2pm wasn't on your plans when you left for work this morning, but you were glad your boss had been kind enough to give you the rest of the day off. Pushing the front door closed behind you, mentally cursing yourself for the slight elevation of decibels that caused a sharp twinge in your head, you rested it against the door as you tried to control your balance till you could get into your bed.

Migraines were to you what the Joker was to Batman. Your greatest enemy. Having been suffering from it since you were a teenager. And they always seemed to appear out of nowhere, as before you got to work you had been feeling just fine.

Somehow, you managed to get into your bedroom, close the drapes and drop off on your bed, falling asleep with a bit difficulty, but finally surrendering to it at some point.

When you woke up some time later, the room was now completely dark and from your bed you could barely see your clock showing you it was way past your dinner time. Your head was still heavy, but you forced yourself to turn around, not remembering when you had gone under the covers... Or changed your clothes?

You now wore your usual set of pajamas that consisted in loose shorts and one of your boyfriend's sweatshirts. Your heels, that you also didn't remember taking off, were now on a bench you had in your bedroom, and you could see the glint of the TV shining from outside the door. Standing up slowly, you made your way to the living room, knowing full well who you're going to find there.

Your boyfriend, Dick, was laying on the sofa facing the direction of your bedroom door, asleep, but waking up as soon as heard the door open. Not even managing to lift you feet to walk properly, you walked to where he laid with his arms extended to you, trapping you in an embrace once you fell on top of him.

"How's your head." he asked, but you didn't respond, having closed you eyes once more, the sound of his heart beating calming you a little. "Your friend texted me to tell you were sick, so I rushed here to find you spread on your bed still wearing your work clothes, so I changed you out of it and tucked you in your bed. I had to go back to work, but I made a video call to your phone and had it on to keep checking if you were okay."

Upon hearing this, you tightened your arms around him as strong as you could, tears filling your eyes not just from the sudden pain you felt, but from how fucking sweet was your boyfriend. You truly felt like you didn't deserve him, yet here he was taking care of you. He caressed the back of your head, the act distracting you from the pain for while.

"Here, I got you some medicine." you felt him move to grab something from the end table and lifting you up a bit he held your chin up while putting the pill in your mouth and giving you some water to swallow it from a bottle. After putting everything away, he apologized for arranging you on top of his, going back to caressing your head while leaving small kisses on your forehead.

You didn't know when you feel asleep again, or when he took you back to you bed. You just woke up the following morning with no headache, your boyfriend's arms still wrapped around you, and the certainty that whatever pain came, he'd always be by your side.

heya! i just went through your music making guide and it's great, but i still feel fairly illiterate, lol (not your fault, just a whole new world for me). one thing i hoped to find there but didn't, is how i might set up an actual keyboard (i have a yamaha psr-e373 in case it's significant) to work with reaper. i'd like two scenarios to be possible: to supply just the notes via kb (so use it as midi input, i guess?) while using VST from PC like in your examples; and use VST from kb itself (because the piano on it is flawless and there are quite a few other decent ones too). the kb itself has a "local on/off" function that lets you switch between these scenarios. i managed to set it up for cakewalk following a video tutorial, but no luck figuring out the settings in reaper. can you help? like, if you use a kb yourself, could you screenshot the relevant settings and show me?

i can try! ive got like 2 midi devices set up (i use the akai mpk mini & the korg nanokey2) that i use for the usual melodic walking around, chords themselves i put together on mindful harmony & then import that midi in & adjust as needed

for reaper what you want to do is have reaper detect your keyboard as a midi in device. make sure your keyboard is connected to your computer via USB (idk what itll be detected as but im assuming itll pop up as PSR for you) and then do the following:

Options > Preferences > Configure MIDI Devices

my nanokey2 isnt plugged in currently but you can see that it's ready to go under MIDI Inputs and MIDI Outputs for whenever i do plug it in. yours should pop up here; right click both and make sure theyre set to Enable, then hit Apply and OK.

reaper is now primed to recognize your MIDI track as input. what you need to do now is arm your specific track to accept MIDI input

on the left the red O button is the record button, and if you leftclick it it'll start receiving input. rightclick it to change what kind of input it accepts - change it to Input: MIDI > Virtual MIDI keyboard > All Channels like so:

then click the Record button again so it lights up to activate it on your track. now we've told reaper that itll only be accepting sound input from your keyboard. last thing you need to do is tell reaper what kind of sound it's going to make, because without that information it just wont make any sound, so get a noise-making VST ready (your lovely piano VST that you mentioned!) which is FX button > Add > pick your sound VST

NOW try pressing some keys on your yamaha and you should hear the keyboard VST sound you selected!

so. imagine this. you have bad memory. you have bad memory and you're not like other children and you see things that people tell you aren't there. you live with your mom and your mom is not kind. you have an imaginary friend. he is nice to you and he gets you. he talks for you when you cant. you talk to him in your head. there is a thing outside and it is not like the other things you see and it makes you sick. your mother just looks sadder when you try to tell her. the doctors don't say they don't believe you, but you can see it on their face.

and then you leave home for a while. you're at a psych ward and they leave you and your friend locked in a room alone longer than any child should be because they don't know how to help you. theyre upset because you stopped being able to talk a week ago and you don't remember why. you don't know when it clicks but you realize they have never called you your name. these hands are not your own. *you* are the imaginary friend here, not the other one. what are you, really? is it your fault he's here? he has friends, but do you?

the thing starts showing up in your room. making you both worse. the other can't handle it so you have to. you have to. ...sometimes it shows you the outside world. bloody and horrible and wooded but it isnt these stupid white walls it isnt these people who make no effort for you or your friend. your brother?

you go home again. you're not sure why. this process repeats itself time and time again. perhaps the thing can be deciphered? it isn't you, and it isn't your brother, you know that much. the meds make it easier to withstand. but not in the way it makes hallucinations easier. when did you learn the other things were hallucinations, again?

you come to the conclusion that it has the power to end this cycle. it wants something in exchange. there's no way to know what. a faustian wheel of fortune. you don't remember how the ward burned down, really. you barely remember the emancipation process, either.

and then things are okay for a while. they aren't great, but you and your brother are safe from your mom. doctors. the thing in the woods. your brother makes friends and you watch. sometimes you interact with them. always under the pretense that you are your brother, though. you can't break the illusion that this is one person.

you lose some time. more than usual. a few years, maybe? your brother's grown sideburns, gotten a house. your brother's friend is sick. sick like you were. the other is angry like a mad dog, you're not sure why.

2023 has been a year to say the least so lets get into this 😂. As usual this is in no particular order cause I cant handle putting these into a proper order.

𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬:

1. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐞 (2022).

I watched this on a whim and boy am I glad I did. The female lead is so unhinged but in the best way and our main guy is so in love with her I cant. Literally this drama was such a fun time and everything connected together so well. Just watch this drama pls.

2. 𝐁𝐨 𝐑𝐚! 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐡 {𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞} (2023).

Yoo In Na shines and I love the character growth that both the leads go through, everything that happens makes sense and it really does show that working on yourself isnt a linear process. There will be set backs but you can over come them. I tend to not care for side couples but I loved all of them in this, they were just hilarious or adorable.

3. 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧 (2023).

I wasnt going to watch this drama but thankfully instagram reels made me interested enough to give this a chance. I love all 4 of the leads, they are my babies and they deserve all the happiness in the world.

4. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐅𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 (2023).

This was such a cute, fun drama. I didnt expect to love it as much as I did, the family dynamics, friendships, everything was so well done and the 2 couples were the cutest.

5. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 (2023).

Literally Instagram reels made me watch this and I do not regret it. The melodrama, romance, revenge, plot twists... Everything was such a wild ride, I recommend that everyone watches it.

𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐍𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬:

1. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫 ~ 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧.

The irony, I always said that I wouldnt stan a group with more than 7 members 😂. Honestly I was just seeing too many funny reels about SVT and then I watched the Game Caterers videos without even knowing all of their names and Super was everywhere that I just fell into the rabbit hole that is Seventeen.

2. 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 ~ 𝐉𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐨.

My bias came and she ate. I love this song and it showed in my top 2023 songs its at number 6... The top 5 are all Taylor obviously.

3. 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 ~ 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐨𝐤.

He came and took over the world. Nothing more to say about that.

4. 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐦 ~ 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐧.

Yall need to stop sleeping on Enhas japanese discography. This song is just so sweet and wonderful. I cant with it.

5. 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 ~ 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐦.

I just loved this whole song and the album too. Next LSF comeback when?!.

𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬:

So last time I only had the vault tracks but Speak Now was the album that made me a swiftie so not limiting myself to just the vault tracks this time.

1. 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝.

This is my absolute favourite song. It is just such a masterpiece and can be related to in any situation.

2. 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝.

I love this song so much, I have a one shot of the same name 😂.

3. 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐅𝐥𝐲.

Most definitely not what I was expecting but I love it so much.

1. Bestie got married, shes happy and Im happy for her. It was a proper desi wedding and it was good fun.

2. I FINALLY graduated from University😂. Only took me like 5 years, one failed attempt and repeating my third year.

3. Made some great friends from the school I worked at, we bonded over how messed up the school we worked at is.

4. Managed to travel and have such great experiences.

5. Im happy with the fanfics I wrote this year. Still shocked that people actually read and enjoy the stuff I write but Im immensely grateful for all the love and support I get.

the saga of saphs terrible, horrible internet

so my friends and fellow romans, as some of you may know, i am currently at home while i wait to go galavant off to the other side of the globe for my study abroad. being at home presents a great many challenges that i will not get into at this time, but the top one is the internet connection.

now i am the proud owner of a 2017 macbook and an iphone se. the macbook was bought refurbished 3.5 years ago and the phone was bought new last august when my iphone 6s finally crapped out 2 weeks into junior year of college. i take....decent care of my electronics. and, this is an important detail here, the phone has an unlimited data plan.

i have never had a problem with this phone. it works great, occasionally it buffers in certain spots on campus that are kind of dead zones due to the buildings being massive blocks of concrete, but it always works, even despite the shitty school wifi i have because i can turn the wifi off and use data. the computer hates the wifi a little more, but i can still usually get it to work with minimal issues.

until now *cue dramatic music*

i have to be at home (my parents house) for a grand total of 18 days. which is not very long. and while at home i had some stuff to do, all of which required me to have an internet connection (fighting the financial aid office, talking to brad, researching grad school, purchasing textbooks, buying the last couple things i need for my trip, etc). i have also had to be in quarantine (long story) so essentially i have been confined to my room.

the internet has always been a little bit meh in my room, with certain spots not working the best (due to the fact that i am furthest from the router) but this is the same room that i took zoom classes from for 2.5 semesters, plus a summer class and a j term class with 0 issues, so i was confident i could make it work.

well. i was wrong.

the first two days went fairly normally. but then, a steady and rapid decrease in internet quality began.

and yes, i am aware that me complaining about internet quality is a very first world problem, but i am stuck in a house with my parents and it is miserable and i just want to facetime brad.

on day three i became unable to send a text message unless i was connected to wifi.

on day 4 i could only connect to wifi if i was standing in one specific spot in my bedroom and even then it didnt always work and would usually drop off by the time i walked back across the room

on day 5 facetime stopped working

on day 6 even standing directly next to the router didnt do anything and plugging into our sole ethernet cable only provided me with mediocre internet

on day 7 i had a mental breakdown and watched youtube all day at 144p complete with buffering that added a good 10-20 minutes to any video.

on day 8 i told my dad that in my deeply unprofessional opinion something is deeply wrong with our router and he said well its just cause your room is far away from it

on day 9 (today) i walked downstairs to get my up of tea in my big christmas tree mug and my dad said "our internet is being very slow, i am going to have to look into it"

its not like it took 3 minutes for the blank post im writing right now to load and 30 minutes for a 10 minute youtube video to load and that i get kicked off the wifi if i so much as tilt my phone slightly to the left

Why Free Shipping winning isn't luck, its all Gin.

This Free Shipping sweep caught everyone off-guard, myself included, just like the first episode the bot that won wasn't the one we expected. But just like The Bro™ it wasn't just luck or the right opponents. Nope. I was originally going to make this analysis on the final fight, but because I can, and to convert botblr to Ginism, I'm doing ALL OF THE FREE SHIPPING FIGHTS. (this is MY HYPERFIXATION and I will deal with it how I please.)

First is the Mammoth fight, Gary knew how unreliable the bot had been and you can this in the driving. Free Shipping was zooming around Mammoth, and Gary says this in the fight hype-up video. clip. thing. "-just gotta be quicker than them." It's like he was trying to tire Mammoth so that Mammoth will always run after FS and he can come in at the right angle for a good hit. Once Mammoth's chain flew off that's when FS started to be more aggressive and aim for the motors/tires. Eventually, Mammoth's drive gets compromised on one side, and then Mammoth's motors are dead. While you can argue Mammoth isn't the most impressive or reliable bot and any bot could've done the same thing, this fight shows how methodical Gary is during fights. (also CHRIS ROSE ILY MAN BUT WHYYY WOULD YOU ASK RICKY IF HE WILL RETIRE MAMMOTH WHY MAN?? DONT DO THIS TO HIM. RICKY NEEDS A COFFEE AND SOME REST AND A HUG.)

Next is the Beta fight, personally I wouldn’t call it a FIGHT, moreso Beta took 2 hits and died. "Key moment in this fight is being able to get underneath uh that huge plow or whatever he's calling it on the front of uh- Beta and um hopefully not take any hits from his hammer." Again, nothing spectacular here, but hey, he did get under the plow. This honestly just shows no matter which hammer Beta's using, or if he uses the plow, Beta is just unreliable, when they win it's great but MAN they really have a habit of just dying. When I tell you when FS won I FLIPPED OUT. I became a Gary believer at that moment. This can possibly be narrowed down to luck but it doesn't matter, Gary's in the finals now and it's SLUSHIES FOR EVERYONE!!!

(as I'm looking over this post, I found out they've actually been MARGARITAS and they never had a slushie machine and they changed it to make it more family-friendly. IK ITS A SMALL THING BUT CMOONN BATTLEBOTS but eh slushies are funnier I guess so eh.)

Finally, it's the finals. The Gigabyte fight. "As soon as that light turns green we're going to turn on our spinner and just go for it." OH. MY GOD. There's so much to talk about. This is probably the best fight FS has since becoming a vert. As soon as the fight began FS ran into Gigabyte to try to get a big hit on them. After that FS kinda isolates and keeps Gigabyte in the corner and lines up another shot to try to get that hit. Usually the opponent will try to be all over Gigabyte to try to stop them from spinning up, BUT GARY GIN ISNT LIKE THE OTHER GIRLIES because he holds back a bit and allows Gigabyte to spin up so that when they finally hit, it’s a massive collision, which is exactly what happens. Once Gigabyte loses their self-righter and is on their head FS can come in and push them to the hammers and wait for them to be counted out. And thus, the Free Shipping sweep is completed and they're headed to the fight for the golden bolt.

This whole episode was an amazing showing for Gary in particular, while FS isn't the bot you'd think of when you wanna predict who will move on to the finals, Gary's precision and technicality really carried him in all his fights. AND I'VE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED I WAS SO HYPED GARY WON. Good for him. GOOD FOR HIM. SLUSHIES FOR EVERYONE!!!!!
