Do you have any good Tim recs? Specifically ones that maintain his canon personality 👀
honestly this is very vague to me but I'm assuming you're mainly looking to avoid the fics that woobify him or flatten him into a coffee fueled anxiety machine. if that's what you're looking for, I gotchu
ship fics
Girl what were YOU doing at the devil's sacrament? is about timber's first date!! so cute, occurs immediately after the whole torture cult thing
Practice Makes Perfect - I know for a fact I've rec'd this one before in an ask maybe a few weeks ago?? this is a fic where tim and ace!bart practice kissing. ends in jaime/bart (I'm sure they have a ship name I just don't know it) and timkon but the timpulse content is actually a really good exploration of their characters imho
friendship as another word for love - this is tagged as minor timber but I'll still put it here. actually this might not be exactly what you're looking for cause my bookmark describes it as "red robin!tim is chaotic af", but honestly I think that's just a description of actual canon
Teenagers Scare The Living Shit Outta Me - okay this might be a crack fic HOWEVER you cannot convince me that everyone around the core four doesn't think there's something hinky going on there. also again not technically a ship fic but I'm still putting it here
Gonna Be A Better One (A Thousand Miles To Your Door) occurs during the time period where Tim quit being Robin (and y'know Steph became Robin instead, but the fic doesn't really deal with that). In this au Kon says fuck that and insists on staying in contact with Tim. great timkon and feels very true to both of them!
time flies by is very emotional for me. I described this in my bookmark as "post n52/rebirth, Tim misses Kon like a phantom limb". that's a good description honestly. I've reread this so many goddamn times actually
batfam fics
Obedience - I'm not the only one obsessed with Ella Enchated AUs, right? right??? anyway this fic is actually so concerned with what is and isn't typical behavior for Tim and also is one of my favorite type of AUs so it's near and dear to me
Exit Strategy breaks my heart - although tbf a lot of these fics do, I definitely read a lot of hurt/comfort. anyway this one is about Tim taking Damian's derision to heart and deciding to leave. The Tim & Damian stuff here is just chef's kiss
The Study of Birds - Tim & Damian bond over birding
Our Common Grave - this is not the only au I've bookmarked focusing on the time Damian cut Tim's line, but the others aren't as focused on Tim, imho, more on the consequences for Damian (or lack thereof, depending on the fic). It's not that I don't like those, I love them even, but obviously they don't fit on a Tim fic rec list. Anyway some quality Tim & Jason stuff here. Ironically even though it's probably my fav batfam dynamic I wouldn't put most of the Tim & Jason stuff I've bookmarked on here, a lot of it is woobified content. not all of it, but a lot of it.
finally, one of my favorites - break. in this au Tim never really joins the batfam and only bruce and alfred ever know his identity. and then he just... stops being a hero. hopeful ending. really good in general, another common reread for me.
hope you enjoyed and let me know if you want any more fic recs!!!

I love that “Fairest” by Gail Carson Levine is an adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves that gives the main character the same appearance but in a way where she isn’t conventionally attractive.
Skin white as snow —> “my skin was the weak blue-white of skimmed milk”, “chalky skin”
Lips red as the rose/blood —> “my lips were as red as a dragon’s tongue”, “rage-red lips”
Hair black as ebony —> “my hair as black as an old frying pan”, “sooty hair”
“I grew large boned and awkward. My chubby cheeks were fine for a babe, but not for an older child. I resembled a snow maid, with a big sphere of a face and round button eyes.”
It feels like this is the first Snow White adaptation where she isn’t conventionally attractive which is a breath of fresh air.

The narrative didn't doom me, it just ditched me
Warning: There will be mentions of upsetting content like sexual abuse, bullying, xenophobia and manipulation. It won't get graphic and it won't be discussed in-depth but it will be mentioned.
I've been thinking a lot about my attachment to Jeyne Poole and I think I cracked the code or at least I’m cracking the code.
So, requirements to become a "The narrative didn't doom me, it just ditched me" character:
Involve some sort of metanarrative irony, can be intentional or accidental
Being archetypal to a secondary or tertiary character, but written with depth or relevance to the story
Becoming obsolete. Be it by an adaptation, the narrative, or the fandom's perception. This person doesn't matter.
I listed four examples under the readmore
Wakaba Shinohara
(look at me, a non-practicing pseudo-intellectual talking about RGU)
Mother of all mothers! She is the blueprint!
She is the only secondary character who doesn’t appear on the opening of the show. She is average looking to the point you could pass her as a background character compared to all the other prominent characters in the story, as a student she is average, she has no special abilities or talents and the nicest and most personal compliment she gets is Utena (Wakaba's best friend, but not a feeling that is reciprocated) telling her she'd make a good housewife.
She has an entire episode dedicated to the Angst of being a satellite character and even after that episode which shows the tragedy of her story being a sideline, she remains in that sideline.
Wakaba's only sense of self value comes from her being close to the people the narrative deems as more special and since Utena has been distancing herself a little from her because she is growing closer to Anthy, being suddenly able to keep bad boy renegade (actually cringe fail loser) Saionji dependant on her transforms her into a protagonist. Suddenly she is the one being called pretty by Utena, she is getting better grades, she is being above average. She has something that makes her special!
The saddest thing is that she had already been pivotal to Utena's narrative development. During episode 12 she is the one who triggers Utena into reclaiming her Princehood and duelling Touga, but she is not capable of seeing that as something she can call her own.
And then during the masterpiece that is "Wakaba Flourishing" we see her confronting those insecurities and feelings of inferiority once she realises Saionji will leave her too and discard her!
She duels Utena, intends to kill Anthy, who se believes is the one behind her losing Utena and Saionji's attentions, loses to the protagonist who loves her, but not enough to make her become special too...and then....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wakaba goes back to her dorm room, now empty of Saionji who no longer needs to live at her place, and we viewers are destroyed.
She returns to her cheery, poppy, apparently happy-go-lucky self, but we know what lurks inside her.
It's funny because the narrative likes playing with her. On the one hand she is special! She is the one who gets Utena out of her depression in episode 12 and she is the one who saves Utena & Anthy at their escape in the movie. But then again, there is only one episode centred on her, right? And that episode ends once Saionji leaves her. She loses the spotlight as soon as a more relevant character distances themselves from her.
The fact she hasn't appeared in any of the post-show/movie mangas, while other show-only characters have, is heartbreaking and hilarious.
Sorry Wakaba, you are lovely but you don't make the cut, go listen to some Penelope Scott, her lyrics are a bit curt, but still, it couldn't hurt.
Heather Matarazzo in her iconic role as Dawn Wiener
Tumblr media
Beloved...
Dawn Wiener is the main character of Todd Solondz “Welcome to the Dollhouse”, although if compared to most coming-of-age protagonists, she is quite depressing.
At school she is bullied, at home she is neglected, she has no friends, talents, or self esteem and the few times she stands up for herself things backfire. She is not always loveable either. Dawn feels dangerously envious to her little sister Missy, who is everything Dawn is not; beloved and beautiful.
As we see her grow up in the movie, we come to the realisation that, it doesn’t matter how much she tries, things won’t get better for her.
Dawn Wiener ends her introduction movie as a perpetual loser who has somewhat decided to conform to her place as an underdog who will never find acceptance among her family or peers, partially because of her looks, which are seen by most as ugly. It's more one of the first scenes in the movie has a young girl bullying Dawn in the bathroom and when Dawns asks her why, the girls responds "Because you are ugly."
In the spin off movie "Palindromes" it is revealed that her adulthood wasn't much more different. She went to college, gained weight and acne and killed herself after becoming pregnant by date rape.
The entire motif of Solondz cinema can be explained within the lines spoken by one of his characters at the end of the movie:
"No one ever changes. They think that they do, but they don't. If you are the depressed type now, that's the way you'll always be. If you're the mindless happy type now, that's the way you'll be when you grow up."
Surprisingly in another spin-off of "Welcome to the Dollhouse", "Wiener Dog", Dawn finds a happy ending. She has a stable and enjoyable job as a veterinary and is rekindling a relationship with her love interest from "Welcome to the Dollhouse", Brandon. Their last scene shows them happily talking about their future while holding hands.
So it probably sounds weird whenever I say this is a much sadder and depressing ending than the one where she commits suicide.
And I stand by that, because there is a fundamental change in "Wiener Dog".
Tumblr media
Dawn's actress, Heather Matarazzo, has been recast by a more conventional-looking actress who is much more fitting into the female ideas of beauty Dawn was told she could never become. If anything, her new actress looks more similar to Dawn's little sister.
The fact that Matarazzo wasn't informed of this, and only came to find out that her most iconic character was now being portrayed by conventionally attractive and successful Greta Gerwig through Twitter, while she was struggling to find roles that actually allowed her to act instead of just being cast as a insulting comedic archetype, like the abhorrent admirer, is the final gut punch. She felt deeply hurt.
Also, just wanna add, the entire movie (Welcome to the Dollhouse) is on YouTube for free but it’s a VERY upsetting movie. It’s hyperbolic in its dark comedy without being edgy, and it is uncomfortable because somehow it still manages to be cruelly realistic in its themes of bullying and abuse. I’ve only watched it two times and, now that my depression has gotten stronger than ever, I sure won’t watch it again.

Jeyne Poole
♪ A terrible mistaaaaaaake was made... ♫ I love that song for her because it fits her in and outside the story.
On a meta-level, I think she is the most tragic because it's accidental. The two former examples were written and portrayed with the intention of making us feel their tragedy. This is not poor Jeyne Poole's case. I genuinely get anxious when thinking about her or how she is treated by fandom because her case is real. She is one of those things that make me worry Solondz might be right in his cynical views of the world.
She is a book character so I can't put pictures of her without stealing art but also this entire thing is about characters being treated like shit by the narrative in order to drive a point, so hahah Jeyne! You don't get a picture! (But you get links because I love some people's art (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) and I'd feel too bad about being mean to her)
The show played a lot with my hopes involving her. She appears in one episode only and has no lines. Later on she is mentioned by name by Sansa Stark, a main/POV character who is a friend of hers and who she considers to be more beautiful. After that we never hear of her again.
This could have worked, had the show stayed loyal to the source material.
In the fifth book of the series, it is revealed to the readers that she is being passed off as the daughter of an important House, Arya Stark, so she can marry the future lord Paramount who is a sadistic monster. Her new husband abuses her terribly and while there are a few political factions opposing her husband, who intend on liberating her, this is only because they think she is Arya Stark, since no one would care for her misfortune if they knew who she truly is.
Jeyne Poole, a character who is deemed as "not important of risking your life for" gets someone to risk his life and, more importantly, his skin in order to save her! Not Arya, Jeyne! Theon, former childhood co-habitant now turned into co-victim co-perpetrator, saves her. The show adaptation decided she was not important enough to appear in the story, and replaced her with Sansa Stark, a main character the audience already felt attached to, who was from a nobler house and considered to be more beautiful. Jeyne's plot was given to the girl she sees herself as inferior to in the books. Her plot was deemed important, her impact was deemed important, but Jeyne herself was not.
She is tragic, there is a reason she is here too, but at least in the story she still has a chance at happiness. In the fandom though...yeah, she lost the war, even worst there wasn't a war. Look at the number of fanworks tagged as ASOIAF involving the Sansa-Theon-Ramsay constellation, compare it to the number of fanworks tagged as ASOIAF involving the Jeyne-Theon-Ramsay constellation and you'll find evidence to that. It gets even funnier when the show constellation and plot line stays intact in fanfics, but she is still added in order to transform her back into Sansa's token best friend with no political relevance and no connection to Theon or Ramsay.
The books' author, GRRM, spoke about being upset by the change done on the show, but in truth I don't have many hopes for Jeyne Poole and considering how he is a slow writer and I am very ill person, I doubt I'll get to witness Jeyne P managing to escape this list.
Sorry Jeyne, you weren't doomed, just ditched. Sucks to be you I guess.
Areida
The least tragic in story and development, but still someone who (sadly) deserves to be here.
She is a book character and given how this book doesn't have much of a fandom there isn't any official art of her, but I like these: (1) (2)
Similarly to Jeyne, she suffered in the adaptation, but then again, who doesn't?
Her book counterpart was given a more in depth characterisation. She was an immigrant, came from a poor background, spoke with a strong accent and was described in a manner resembling someone of African ancestry (dark skin, box braids). In the movie it is implied she might be from another country or ethnia, she is played by an Indian actress, but her accent is gone, her hair is straight and we don't get any characterisation or background on her. Her friendship with Ella is downplayed and Ella only starts her quest after being forced to tell her she can't be friends with her anymore and making a xenophobic comment. In the book, Ella parts on her quest so as not to have to obey and break their friendship and that conversation doesn't take place. In the books, Areida's pain matters and it is Ella's unwillingness to hurt her that sends her to search for Lucinda, the fairy who gave her the gift of obedience, so she can remove the curse and won't be forced to ruin her friendship with Areida and cause her more distress. She runs away from finishing school before she can break Areida's heart. And even after their separation, Ella still thinks of Areida with an endearing fondness and tells her future love interest, Prince Char, about her.
In the movie, there is an emphasis in showing Ella's pain and their reconciliation isn't shown, but we are supposed to assume they did have a reconciliation because Areida is seen at Ella and Char's wedding. Areida is reduced to become an unconditional sidekick whose feelings aren't important in the grand scheme of things. We don't see her break down crying after hearing her supposed best friend make a xenophobic comment about her, not how lonely she must have felt afterwards, nor how their conversation once reunited went. She is only Ella's friend, not her own character.
The irony, Ella's quest being triggered by Areida's feelings is turned into Ella's quest being triggered by Ella's feelings because neither the audience, nor the narrative, nor the people making the movie care about Areida's feelings, something the novel has been trying to portray as wrong multiple times.
The adaptation of Ella Enchanted (which I only watched two days ago because of curiosity and oh god why did they whitewash Char??? WHY IS LUCINDA A RACIAL STEREOTYPE???? No wonder my parents didn't let me watch Disney movies! they suck!) was so different from the book that talking about them as one almost feels wrong. Had they gone to claim the book was the inspiration behind this movie, that would have been alright, but as an adaptation, it's quite horrendous. I can understand why they made the changes they made, but given how the movie has overshadowed the book in popular culture, and thus it is Movie!Areida who people might remember, I still have to let her stay here.
So, yeah...I think this is it. It's the irony and the pain behind the irony. Yeah...

Terrarium Lights, pt. 3.10
Previously on Terrarium Lights: local ghost faces (something like) death? More at 10 (Next part >>here)
Gail let the word hang in the air as she carefully turned her bacon, piece by piece.
Jonathon broke the silence first. "I… I don't want to resent anyone. She seems like a lovely lady, and she's been taking care of my body so well. I just… it's a lot. I don't know her. I don't want to hurt her, but I don't want to think about her right now, and I'm afraid of going back and losing my sight and what feels like my mind with it. I want to pay her back, but I don't want her to tell me what I should do. Even if she might be right. I… I'm sorry."
Gail tilted her head at him. "Sometimes, our hearts and minds come up with many a feeling we'd rather not be having. But that doesn't mean any more than that we're human, in the end. And being human isn't wrong."
"What about acting on being human?"
"I’d say that rather depends on what those actions are."
Jonathon sighed. "I don't know that, either."
Gail chuckled. "If it helps, I doubt we’ll have to address the philosophical questions right this moment. For now, we can work on what we know. You feel upset by someone else, someone relatively unknown, being so present in your own personal problem. However, as far as I understand, the actions you're contemplating aren't being proposed with the idea of either hurting or helping her, so in some ways worrying over the motives aren’t going to be helpful here. She may be a factor, but it does seem that there are quite a few to consider overall."
"I… guess… maybe." Jonathon leaned back and put his elbows on the counter. "I don't know if I can say for certain. Mostly I'm too muddled and confused to know what I'm doing or not, or why or why not."
"Mmmm." Gail moved the bacon around in the pan, more to be doing something with her hands than because it needed it.
"What do you think?" Jonathon asked.
"About what?" Gail asked.
Jonathon waved his hand vaguely. "About… everything. I don't know. What's your perspective?"
"Hmmmm." Gail left the kitchen, grabbing a pen and paper from the dining room table. "Can't say as I rightly know, either. Let's puzzle it out."
"O-okay."
She flopped the paper down on the counter beside him. "First, we now know that you're still alive, and are a ghost that possibly can go back to its body. If you do go back to your body, you lose your sight, and possibly your memories. Right?"
Jonathon nodded glumly.
"What happens if you don't go back to your body?" Gail asked.
Jonathon opened his mouth, then shut it again. "I… I don't know. Maybe nothing. Maybe I'll die? Maybe I won't be able to find my way back to inside my body? I know I am starting to lose my sight, so maybe it's all inevitable. But… I don't know."
"Well, I'll just put down a question mark for now," Gail said. "So far, you're struggling with going back to your body because you're afraid of what will happen, and you don't want to simply accept it."
"Yes. I… it feels like consigning myself to losing my mind, in a way," Jonathon said before she could move on. "I… I don't know. Something about having got my memories partially back, and more awareness, and I know things, and then going back to… not that. To be entirely unaware of who I am, again. I might… I might even forget you."
Gail stopped her notes. "Well, that point can be left off. I know where you're staying, and it's not too long of a walk."
"But it won't be the same," Jonathon protested. "I won't remember your kindness, I won't understand how much I have to thank you for."
Gail tapped her pen. "If it makes you feel better, I don't intend to stop being kind to you."
Jonathon chuckled half-heartedly. "I suppose not.”
“And, if you were to forget, I would tell you the story again when you were ready.”
“That is good to know.” Jonathon smiled sadly. “Reassuring, in some way. But… it's… it's not the same. And… I would still be losing something."
Gail thought back over the past fortnight or so. What if they were erased from her mind?
To an extent, she'd be okay. In a way, she might not notice—a few weeks was a small part of fifty-some years. But that was just the crux of their difference—she had much more of a life to draw herself from, and she wouldn't want that time to be erased. Even these past few weeks, though they could be argued as small, Gail regarded them as something special, something that hadn't happened before, something that would be treasured. She wouldn’t want to choose to lose that small piece. And for the lad, it wouldn’t be just a small piece.
Gail finished her notes for that line of thought. "And what about the reasons you want to return to your body?"
Jonathon hesitated, before the words tumbled out of his mouth like he’d been holding them back. "I want to have the rest of me back, besides just my mind. I want to be able to feel things and know that I exist even when I'm not properly awake, and I want to live somewhere. I want to talk to people and be visible and audible, and be able to open a door normally. I want to taste the bacon that I can only so faintly smell."
Gail smiled. "Well, I'd be sure to cook you as much—oh! my bacon!"
She dropped her pen and scrambled to save her sizzling and smelling (and smoking) pan from the flames. Levering the bacon off onto the plate with the spatula, she reached for the eggs.

Oralie: Sleeping Troubles (Dec 27 2022)
Oralie lay awake in her bed, clutching Kenric's emotional support stuffed animal, a tomple, while her own glittery alicorn was pressed into her stomach. She was wearing identical glittery alicorn pajamas. And despite how fluffy her pink bed was... she couldn't sleep.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks. The memories were flashing by rapidly.
The way Kenric took care of her when she was sick.
Their sleepovers, window and actual.
Their first baking date - just the two of them.
Their second, this time with Bronte dragged along.
Dancing in the moonlight, just him and her and their butterflies from their arms around each other.
But most of all...
Kenric transmitting, "Ora, darling, I've always loved you" as he pushed her out of the burning tower.
Oralie began shaking uncontrollably, sobbing and sobbing and sobbing, clutching Kenric's tomple tighter to her chest, until her eyes were all puffy and her throat was hurting and she could cry no longer.
There was no way she could even hope to sleep anymore in this state, so she dragged herself out of bed, still holding the tomple.
She sniffed it. It felt so wonderfully like Kenric. She kissed it.
She'd taken it in when Kenric...
No.
Oralie made her way over to the mirror and stared at her reflection. It was nothing like her composed, pretty facade.
Her ringlets were a frizzy mess, her eyes had dark circles under them, and she still had a few remaining tears.
She looked down at the small, round pink carpet under her feet and dragged her feet through its fluffiness.
Her coworkers wouldn't understand.
Especially Alina.
Kenric's snobby replacement.
She looked around to look out the window that used to look onto Kenric's castle.
But now that was Alina's castle.
The window that faced Oralie's was now inhabited by Alina's things - no more window sleepovers with her Kenric.
Oralie walked to the window to finger the starkflower on the windowsill. It was from Kenric. He'd gotten in trouble for giving Oralie a bouquet of starkflowers, and he'd had a Tribunal during which Oralie gave some lame excuse and they had to let him go. Later, Kenric came back to give her this one starkflower, which she'd worn in her hair the next day. When Kenric gave her this starkflower, he'd reached out his hand, and Oralie closed her fingers around the starkflower, and he'd closed his fingers around her hang, running his thumb over her knuckles.
Oh, what Oralie wouldn't give to touch his hand now...
She was choking up again, which meant she had to keep moving.
She walked over to her closet and opened the door. She walked in, through the rows and rows of dresses, and to the end of the closet-hallway.
She'd manage to save some of Kenric's tunics, back when they'd been cleaning out his castle. It was probably against the rules, but she didn't care. Some tunics, some jerkins too, including the one with the emeralds on the collar that Oralie loved so much on Kenric.
Oralie took a pink pair of pajama pants along with Kenric's orange tunic and changed into them, then went back into bed with her - Kenric's - tomple.
She snuggled into the soft covers and Kenric's shirt, feeling comforted. She often slept in Kenric's shirts, to feel his warmth around her, hugging her tight.
Her eyelids drooped.
Maybe she would be able to sleep tonight after all.

So like, the love triangle/extremely complicated shape timeline in the buffyverse is something like
1753: Angelus gets turned by Darla. They're together for the next 150 years or so
1860: Drusilla is sired
1880: William has feelings for Cecily, who turns him down. Spike is sired. They're together for the next 120 years or so
Sometime in the middle there: Spike and Angelus have sex "that one time"
Sometime in the middle there: Angelus and Drusilla have sex multiple times
1898: Angelus gets cursed to have a soul, although he doesn't fully leave the whirlwind until after Spike kills the boxer rebellion slayer in 1900
1980s-1990s: Xander and Willow become friends, they "date" in kindergarten, Willow develops a proper crush later in life
1997: Buffy moves to Sunnydale. Xander develops a crush on her. Buffy and Angel begin their doomed love affair. Angel kills Darla. Xander asks Buffy to the dance, and she turns him down; he tries to get Willow to go with him instead, and she turns him down also, for very different reasons.
1997-1998: Xander starts dating Cordelia. Willow starts dating Oz. Buffy sleeps with Angel, then kills Angelus.
1998-1999: Buffy dates Scott for a short while before he dumps her, has a weird situationships with Faith, and starts dating Angel again. Drusilla breaks up with Spike off screen. Xander and Willow cheat in their SOs with each other, leading to Cordy dumping Xander. Xander sleeps with faith. Faith kisses Angel, and then who she believes is Angelus. Cordelia and Wesley have sexual tension, then the worst televised kiss of all time. Xander and Anya go to prom together. Angel and Buffy break up.
1999-2000: Buffy sleeps with Parker. Anya and Xander start dating. Harmony and Spike date on and off. Oz leaves Willow because he cheated on her with werewolf girl. Willow starts dating Tara. Oz comes back into town, only to leave again, for good this time. I Will Remember You doesn't happen. Buffy starts dating Riley. Cordelia and Doyle kiss, only for Doyle to immediately die. Cordelia kisses Angel, Wesley, and a bunch of other guys, trying to get rid of the visions.
2000-2001: Spike realizes he's in love with Buffy. Riley is the worst for half a season, then leaves after he sluttily lets every vampire in town bite him. Darla comes back to life and Lindsey falls in love with her, rip. Darla and Angel sleep together, leading to Angel's wasted attempt to give her a second chance at life instead being turned into a pregnancy. Lindsey leaves town. Drusilla tries to get Spike to come back to LA with her, but Spike wants to kill her to impress Buffy, so that doesn't work out. Harmony also leaves him over this. Xander and Anya get engaged.
2001-2002: Cordelia and Angel develop feelings for each other. Upon finding out Buffy is alive, Angle and Buffy go out to "a place" and do something, for sure, we'll never know what - not sex though, since Angel still has his soul. Spike and Buffy start sleeping together. Wesley develops a crush on Fred. Fred and Gunn start dating. Darla kills herself so that Connor can be born (can we reverse that somehow?). Willow and Tara break up over Willow's abuse of magic. Cecily is Halfrek, Anya's best friend, and the two of them recognize each other, although they don't expand on it. Riley comes back into town with a wife nobody can seem to dislike, leading Buffy to break up with Spike. Xander leaves Anya at the altar, but still wants to date. Connor gets kidnapped into a demon dimension and returns the world's worst teenager. Anya comes back as a vengeance demon, but can't get anyone to curse Xander; instead she sleeps with Spike for comfort. Everyone finds out about Spuffy. Willow and Tara get back together, then Seeing Red happens. Spike leaves town and gets his soul. Cordelia and Angel agree to meet to finally talk about their feelings, only for her to get ascended to a higher plane and for him to get trapped in a box at the bottom of the ocean by the world's most ungrateful son (does anybody like Connor? Are there people for whom he's like, their fav?).
2002-2003: Spike comes back to Sunnydale ensouled and insane. Cordelia comes back from being in an upper plane of existence, but has total amnesia. Spike and Xander are jokingly implied to have slept together. Buffy goes on a date with Wood, Xander goes on a date with a demon lady who tries to sacrifice him to the seal in the school basement. Cordelia gets her memories back but is acting incredibly strange, including *sleeping with Connor and getting pregnant*. Xander and Anya have breakup sex. Fred and Gunn start having problems and eventually break up (I'm not actually up to this in my Angel rewatch and I usually skip season four so I don't remember this in detail). Willow starts dating Kennedy. Willow goes to LA to help give Angel back his soul and bring Faith over to season seven of Buffy in the only good arc in season four, and she and Fred have insane chemistry, leasing to Willow letting Fred down easy ("I have a girlfriend"). Angel finds out about Spike and is jealous. Spike and Buffy share one last night together, although it's left purposefully vague what they did in that basement. Spike dies. Connor gets erased from all Angel Investigations' memories, and Cordy is in a coma.
2003-2004: Spike comes back to unlife, and when he gets corporeal form again, he has enthusiastic sex with Harmony, who is Angel's secretary. Magic makes Angel and Eve sleep together, although it's revealed Eve is together with Lindsey (I don't remember how that plot is resolved). Buffy is rumored to be dating some guy both Spike and Angel hate called The Immortal (iirc), and they both decide not to chase after her, although not until Spike alludes to that one time he slept with Angelus. It's generally a very homoerotic relationship all throughout the season. Cordelia wakes from her coma, kisses Angel, then is revealed to have died in her hospital bed (You're Welcome is so good but less than she deserved). Fred and Wesley finally get together only for Fred to be killed and replaced with Ilyria the next episode or something like that. When Wesley dies, Ilyria puts Fred "on" like a mask to comfort him as he passes, and she's sad that he did.
I purposefully skipped Giles, since he's not actually involved with any of the other main cast members, and therefore not part of the love... Whatever this is
Comic canon (just a few highlights): Buffy didn't actually date The Immortal, that was a body double left to party through Europe to foil assassination plots or something. Buffy sleeps with a younger slayer and it's never brought up again by anyone except the fandom. Buffy and Angel have sex in the middle of the apocalypse or something? Season eight was confusing to me and I last read it almost a decade ago. Spuffy become the canon couple for the rest of the comics. Dawn's season five crush on Xander turns into a relationship, which I find gross for different reasons than TikTok fans do. Anya comes back from the dead as a ghost for a while? I didn't actually read past s9 so I don't know what happened in any of that.
Did I miss anything big?

The first few times I had read “Fairest” I didn’t remember any of the characters’ ages bc they were only mentioned once or twice and the plot distracted me from their ages but I just now found out that Aza is 15, Prince Ijori is 17, King Oscaro is 41, Queen Ivi is 19, and Uju, the guard that Ivi flirts with while King Oscaro is on his death bed, is 43💀
