On Xunfeng

Was reading about the Eight Trigrams in Chinese mysticism, which I definitely don't grok fully but are an interesting exercise in the powers of 2 and whose existence I only know of because it's written the exact same way as the word for "gossip"... anyway I came across a familiar two characters:

name: 巽 xùn image in nature: 風 fēng (wind) phase: wood attribute: penetrating state: gentle entrance animal: 雞 jī (fowl/chicken) (but also a modern slang for penis is 小雞雞, little chicken)

Conclusion: Xunfeng's name is a dick joke *

I tried to very deliberately sandpaper out as much femininity in the enunciation as I could in order to emulate a young boy, seeing as I just re-watched Ember Island Players and am really incensed on behalf of our boi and the weaponized femmephobia therein. Coulda had a legit moral in there about ‘it’s ok to be femme’ but it had to be just making fun of him. ._.

Brings to mind the hypocrisy inherent in the writing of the episode Bitter Work.

Maybe I’ll post another sound bite in this same altered key to demonstrate the difference between this recording and my normal voice.

Might even go hogwild and do the original key for Katara or Toph. But which 🤔

haven't been on this blog for a hot minute and I feel like I missed something??? what are the bagua???

Bagua translates to "eight areas" and it's used in Taoist cosmology. Those 8 areas all have specific colors, themes, and elements.

As they are tied to aspects of life, I was thinking that the Wish of this tier relates to living the ideal life, so long as you wear all of them. You get your dream job, money comes easily to you, your reputation is sound, you get to be with who you want, ect.

Miraculous has made use of it, tying the Prodigious to it. But I can't say how well to tied it to it as I haven't watched Shanghai special and I'd like to do more research for bagua. I am uncertain though as they set up dragon as the big one, but from my understanding the 8 slots should be all equal and vital. You have those 8 all circling each other, not 1 in the center as most important. Maybe it dragon was an unofficial 9th member representing the yin-yang in the center, it'd also be a clever bonus as the dragon is associated with 9.

Oh! Fun tidbit, while I was reading up on bagua, I found that Jackie Chan Adventures included it, basing the 8 demons (Shendu and his siblings) on the 8 bagua elements and the objects used to stop them are tied to bajua (the lotus, sword, gourd, drum, ect.)
