Donald Duck from Tri-Valley Animal Rescue in Pleasanton, California
Click here for more information about adoption and other ways to help!
Click here for a link to TVAR's main website.
Donald is a very loveable kitty who loves other cats. He got his name Donald Duck because of the quacking meow he used to make when he was first rescued. Donald was suffering from pneumonia when he was rescued, and his foster mom nursed him back to health. Donald bonds very closely with one member of the family and takes his time warming up to other family members. Donald wants a quieter home, preferably without young children. He would love to have cat siblings but would also do just fine as the only cat in a quiet, loving home.

Today is the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Brandy Station. This remains the largest Cavalry engagement in North America. Real History!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“On Friday, June 5th, and later on June 8th, Stuart conducted massive cavalry reviews near Culpeper. Hood's Division attended both events; General Lee attended the latter.
A Southern soldier-reporter in Hood's Division said of the June 5th equestrian spectacle, "It was an imposing sight. One hundred and forty-four companies passed in review in the most splendid order. I counted twenty-six stands of colors, exclusive of those belonging to Stuart's horse-artillery. After the review there was a sham fight, in which the artillery fired over one hundred and sixty rounds, and the cavalry made several brilliant charges. The horses were generally good, and everything indicated a good degree of discipline. Many ladies, blooming in health and beauty, were present. Gen. Hood marched his whole division out to witness the review." Robert Lee Hodge

Tribal Disco Noise was an alternative/nu-metal band from Pleasanton, California. As was the case with many NorCal bands at the time, they drew from many different influences and always brought a high level of energy to their performances. This song, "Hold Your Own," came from their 1996 album, "Orange Sunshine." Footage is from February 7, 1997 in Berkeley, California. (Video credit here.)

Ilmenite from Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton, California
Click here for more information about adoption and other ways to help!
Click here for a link to Valley Humane Society's main website.
Ilmenite is an low-maintenance lady; she eats well and has perfect litterbox manners. She enjoys the company of other cats, whether just hanging out together or running around to chase and play! With people, Ilmenite is aloof; she doesn't like to be picked up and is apprehensive of hands reaching out to grab her. On a quiet evening, she'll come join you peaceably on the couch but prefers to keep to herself. She loves her cat tower and spends much of the day there. Ilmenite would be well suited to join a household with a playful cat that can engage her. Ilmenite's adoption fee is waived! Ilmenite was transferred to Valley Humane on 5/19 from Stockton Animal Services. She had been found stray. Ilmenite weighs 8.3 pounds and is estimated to be between 1 and 4 years old. We suspect Ilmenite has a condition called plasma cell pododermatitis. This is a foot pad disease of cats that is fairly classical in its appearance yet its significance is poorly understood. Plasma cell pododermatitis literally means foot inflammation involving infiltration by plasma cells. Ilmenite has been treated and she is currently not symptomatic.
