Made an AU for Trollhunters, where Astrid is not a Trollhunter.
I'm thinking of making this another story.
Backstory: During Gunmars raid of the surface world, Astrid's village was burned to the ground, but somehow, as a baby, Astrid survived. She was later found by Angor Rot, who adopted her and raised her as his own, teaching her dark magics. Once she was old enough, she helped to hunt down Trollhunters until her father was trapped in Aysa-Thoon, where she was trapped by Morgana's magic until he was resurrected by Strickler. After, she was sent to learn about Jim and Trollmarket, but ends up falling in love with the modern world, Trollmarket and the Trollhunting group (and, you know, Draal). She reluctantly changes sides, and tries in vain to have her father do the same. The first time Angor dies, she obviously mourns, but the second, she's more successful in helping to remind him of who he was.

Y/n looked around the room, the once dark and colorless basement was now an art gallery full of colorful paintings of creatures that shouldn’t exist against vibrants backgrounds.
She observed her mother paint a portrait the size of the wall of her ex-boyfriend's troll from with an intensity she had never seen before. She didn’t even know her mother could paint.
“Mom, I packed you lunch!” Jim screamed from the kitchen.
“Down here honey!” Screamed back Barbara without taking her eyes from the painting.
Jim slowly walked down stairs and saw her sister sitting in a stool observing the spectacle.
“What’s going on?” He mouthed.
Y/n shrugged, she was just as confused, with her head she pointed at the big Mr. Strickler’s painting.
Jim’s eyes opened like plates.
“So, what do you think? I call it “Goodbye, Walt” You warned me he was bad news, but I didn’t listen. Then he vanished without a goodbye. What kind of man does that? Hence the horns. They’re symbolic” Barbara proudly showed off her painting.
“Wow, mom. Quite the imagination” Jim turned to Y/n.
“Yeah” Y/n is lost for words. She didn’t know what to do “Now, I know where I got my artistic side is from”
“Aw, thank you sweety” Barbara pinched Y/n’s cheek “First your father, and now him. I swear, if I ever see Walt again…”
“On that note,” Jim nervously chuckled, starting to go upstairs “gotta run”
“Coward” Y/n whispered.
“Hello” Y/n announced her arrival at the bookstore.
“Hello, love” Douxie emerged from under the counter mirroring the smile in Y/n’s face “You’re early. I thought you were coming for lunch. We were going to the park”
Y/n walked to Douxie and kissed his cheek.
“Are you kicking me out?” She chuckled against his cheek.
“What?! No?!” He screamed. For a moment, fear creeped on Douxie's spine. Did he make Y/n feel rejected?
“Relax” Y/n rested her head on his shoulders, and patted his chest “I just wanted to see you. Is that such a crime?” It wasn’t a complete lie. Y/n wanted to see Douxie, she always wanted to see him. But today, she needed to get out of her house, stay away from her mother’s art.
“Stop toying with the kid. He only slept two hours” Archie jumped on top of the counter.
“Hi to you too, Arch” Y/n scratched the cat’s chin.
“Yeah, sorry. I’m a little bit on edge. It was a long night. Too many trolls in Arcadia wreaking havoc” Douxie let himself fall on the chair “Do you know what’s up with that?”
Y/n nodded. She doesn’t want to lie to Douxie but if she told him the truth she knew he would want to help and that would open a can of worms that she doesn’t want to deal with just yet.
“No idea” she shook her head “that’s weird” she observed Douxie’s dark eyebags “Hey, why don’t you go lay down until lunch and I stay here?”
“No. No. I’m okay” he straightened himself in the chair, dropping a cup with pens with his elbow.
Y/n and Archie shared a look.
“You’re not” Y/n gently push him from the shoulders of the chair “you’re missing a cat and you didn’t notice it”
“No, Al is…” Douxie started to look everywhere as Y/n guided him to the stairs.
“See? Go to sleep. See you at lunch” Y/n waved until Douxie disappeared into the distance. She turned to Arch “Where’s Al, anyway?”
“Who knows. He said something about a meeting with a duck and then something about a dandelion and tacos” Archie rolled his eyes.
“Don’t laugh at him. Is always important to have connections”
Y/n helped out a few regulars and a few not so regulars during the afternoon. Time moved slowly, the dog outside the bookstore sniffed the tree comically slow until he found a spot, the traffic lights wouldn’t change colors, everything seemed to move so painfully slow. She looked back at Archie to see if he was also affected by this strange phenomenon but he was belly up under a ray of sunshine. She smiled and walked the small store coming back to the spot where Douxie had given her her old book. She couldn’t see it back then but now, with this piece of the puzzle back in its place she could recognise that Douxie had reconstructed her old bookshelf from their time in Camelot.
“Lady Y/n” Hisirdoux shyly knocked on the door.
“Come on in” Y/n answered, her voice almost above a whisper. She was laying on the floor with her back against the bookshelf, her nose buried in a red leather bound book and her bare feet were covered by her faithful friend, Alfred.
“Where…?” Hisirdoux looked around the room until he saw the cat’s brown tail coming from under the bed “Y/n?” He called.
“Mmmh?” She lifted her view from the book, her hair was in a perfect braid but she was still in her nightgown.
“Master M…”
“Y/n?” Morgana pushed the door wide open.
Hisirdoux jumped back like a cat.
“Why aren't you wearing your dress?” The woman grabbed the dress from the bed and ran next to the girl.
“I thought I had time” Y/n looked at Hisirdoux her eyes filling with tears “I…I…”
From the hallway, they could hear the echo of the steps followed by a staff hitting the stone covered floor.
Hisirdoux’s heart fell to his stomach when he saw Y/n’s red eyes.
“Hisirdoux, can you distract him?” Asked Morgana as she prepared the girl’s dress.
Hisirdoux pursed his lips and nodded before running down the hallway.
Y/n smiled while the tears fell as she heard Hisirdoux’s insanes complain about his lack of staff.
“He is nice” Morgana whispered .
Y/n’s cheeks redden as her bracelet, she lowered her head and played with it while Morgana tightened her corset.
The woman chuckled, “He could be a nice friend… Like in the book”
“But…”
“And, don’t…but mater me”
“Y/n?! Y/n?!” Douxie screamed.
Y/n blinked a couple times and came back to the floor of the bookstore. Her knees red from supporting her weight on the floor. She looked around. She doesn’t remember getting to the ground, she doesn’t remember grabbing the book.
“Love?!” Douxie asked, voice laced with desperation.
“Doux? When did you wake up?” Y/n tried to get up but her legs failed her, luckily, Douxie caught her before she could hit the floor.
“A couple minutes ago. What happened?” He guided her to the small couch and crouched in front of her.
“I..I was looking at the books and then…I had a vision?” She frowned.
“A vision?” He repeated.
“From the past…remember the morning after Morgana gave me the anthology?”
Douxie smiled at the memory, that was the beginning of their friendship.
“I was ten and you were nine and deadly afraid of angering your father” he said a little absent minded.
“Yeah…I almost remembered him” she looked at him, her eyes full of tears like that morning.
“You’ll remember him” Douxie’s heart fell to his stomach just like that morning.
Y/n looked deeply into Douxie's hazel eyes, the only eyes that she ever wanted to look at in moments like this and closed the distance kissing him, her hands quickly finding their home amongst his hair. Douxie instantly returned the kiss with the same sweetness but more desperation. Everytime they would touch, he needed to taste every drop of it, even if it was an accidental graze of hands during the day.
His hands lifted her from the couch and her legs quickly snaked around his waist.
“Doux” Y/n panted, holding his cheeks “people can see us”
“I don’t care” he whispered, his eyes full of lust going back and forth between her eyes and her lips.
“Doux…”Y/n whispered. She was shocked. Douxie was a little more shy than that.
“Let’s go upstairs” he said into her ear before biting her earlobe.
“Mmmh” she laughed.
As Douxie’s feet would step each step of the stairwell, Y/n’s heart would pound faster, stronger. She hid her face on Douxie’s neck but the familiar smell did nothing to calm the tremors in her hands, in her torso.
Douxie laid both of them on the couch of the second floor where they would usually nap and started to kiss Y/n’s neck, his hands slowly feeling her stomach up to her sides. Y/n instinctively opened her legs to give him space, her hips moved against his, her hands went to his chest, her body reacted to his but a part of her mind was confused.
“You’re so pretty” Douxie's voice brought her to the present. His shirt was missing, his toned chest exposed for Y/n to see.
“Look who’s talking” she put a hand on his now red chest and pushed him back.
“So pretty” he repeated as he observed her while she sat on top of him.
Y/n kissed him again and again and slowly went down from his mouth, to his chin, to his neck, to the spot under his jaw where she could feel his pulse. Douxie groaned making Y/n smile but it quickly got erased from her face when her hands started to shake again while Douxie took out her shirt leaving her with her bra exposed.
Y/n put her hands on Douxie’s shoulders and moved her hips, maybe if her hands felt him they would remember him.
“Y/n?” Douxie’s hand caressed Y/n cheek “are you alright?”
She looked down at him, at his eyes full of worry and smiled.
“Of course” she kissed him but this time he didn’t return it as passionately as before, this time was sweet, understanding.
With a swift move he was on top of her again and could inspectionate her face more clearly.
“No, you’re not” he furrowed “we don’t have to do this, love” he started to pull back.
“No, I want this” she put her hand on his shoulder “it just…” she felt the blood rush to her cheeks. To Y/n Ambrosius it isn’t a big deal but to Y/n Lake it is “You know…”
But Douxie’s big eyes told her he didn’t know.
“I know that you and I…you know but…Y/n Lake hasn’t” she explained.
“I don’t follow” he whispered.
“You’re gonna make me say it” she whispered to herself “Y/n Lake is still part of me, right?”
He nodded.
“Y/n Lake is a…virgin”
Douxie’s blood drained from his face and came back in a rush.
“Oh. Oh” he sat on his heels “I see”
Y/n sat up, her body warming up from the shyness “I want this”
Douxie chuckled and kissed her cheek.
“Me too but…” he grabbed both cheeks with his hands “this time has to be special too” kissing her nose.
The butterflies ruptured Y/n’s stomach traveling through her body. She nodded, a lovesick smile plastered on her face.
“I was falling asleep. Was it necessary to call me sixty five times?” Y/n screamed as she opened Claire’s bedroom door.
Claire was floating in the middle of the room. The boys had tied her up chains that her magic seemed unable to break.
“I’ll wear your spine as my crown, peasants!” Claire screamed in anger.
“That’s a new one” said Jim pointing his bat to Claire.
“Her creativity knows no bounds” added Toby.
Claire screamed, throwing Jim and Toby threw the air with her magic. Y/n was able to stay put on the door. She had been more thrown out by the familiarity of the magic than the magic itself. She took a step forward, her eyes focused on the changed Claire, her voice was different and so was her magic.
“Apologies for my delay” Blinky barged into the room and was able to set the chair back into the ground and with a quick move of a stone set the chains back into place.
The troll explained the why of his delay but Y/n couldn’t hear. She was consumed by the weight in her throat, by the burning in her eyes, something in Claire’s eyes was pulling her to the ground.
“Does the name Morgana mean anything to you?” Jim asked Blinky.
Y/n mouth hung open. The memory of the red haired woman holding her hand through the woods, braiding her hair, teaching her magic, being slayed by a sword, all came back like a stab to the heart. The myth was true. Morgana was alive.
“Morgan Le Fay, Merlin’s apprentice” explained Blinky, scared of naming the monster.
“Like Merlin who made my amulet?” asked Jim
“No” whispered Y/n and took a step back.
“I spit on his name as I spit on his grave” Morgana chuckles “Don’t we, Birdie?” She looked directly at Y/n.
“Sounds like they didn’t get along” Toby hid behind Jim.
Y/n kept walking backwards until her legs hit the bed and sat down, too afraid to make a sound.
“He thinks he can be rid of me? The fool” she laughs and turns to the guys in front of her “I will erase his name and all of his creations”
Y/n looked down at her hands and saw the tears falling down. She wasn’t sure of what she was more afraid of: the ghost in front of her or what the ghost could do to her friends.
She turned to the door and ran. Afraid that the grief and the nostalgia would bend her will. Ran far from Claire’s house, from Douxie’s library, she ran until her feet ached, until her knees gave up and then, she fell to the ground, her hands softening the blow.
A broken sob escaped her throat, her body gave out, falling to the side on top of the grass. She pulled her knees to her chest and prayed that the darkness of the night was enough to hide her from the world.
One last sob abandoned her lips before closing her eyes:
“I want my father”
“Good morning” whispered a familiar raspy voice.
Y/n felt a familiar hand caressing her hair. Without opening her eyes she leaned into the touch, she knew that feeling before she was even born. She stretched her hand and grabbed the familiar robe, an old habit she hadn’t shaken.
“Come one, Birdie, open your eyes” the man insisted, moving the final strand of hair from her face.
“No” she clutched the robe tighter and moved closer to the warmth that the man’s body provided.
“Why?” The man chuckled.
“I’m afraid” she cried.
“What?” The man grabbed Y/n and cradled her “Why?”
“I’m afraid you won’t be there when I open my eyes” she grabbed the closest piece of fabric she could feel.
“Oh, Birdie” the man rocked her “Of course I’ll be here”
Y/n slowly opened her eyes and under the light of the sun she saw a man with crystalline blue eyes.
“Father?” She asked before the weight of reality brought her back and made her realize that she was alone and that her father was laying on a tomb waiting to be awakened.

I would like help picking out a new print to sell in artists' alleys. I sell 8.5" x 11" prints at $3 for black and white and $5 for colour. There are about ten prints I would like to retire and replace, but I also hope to do some new prints especially to sell instead of just selling some art I drew for my own entertainment.
Vote for black and white prints here.

@xdeusxmachinax okay, but Strickler and his former students though???
The impression the show gives us is that despite everything, Strickler is a good teacher and he's trusted/respected by his students. And this guy has been a teacher at Arcadia Oaks High for years; he's helped shepherd hundreds of kids from freshman year to graduation, and he's bound to have made an impression on more than a few.
How sweet would it be for some of his former students to reach out to him after the whole changeling thing comes out? Kids he hasn't heard from in ten or fifteen years send him emails or letters letting him know how much his support and guidance meant to them during high school and that what he looks like on the outside doesn't change the amazing person he is on the inside.
Now they say this not knowing what he's really like on the inside of course. They only knew Mr. Strickler, never Stricklander. But the sentiment is still touching, and it does reassure him that losing his human form doesn't mean he's lost all the relationships he fostered in it.

I am now back on Freaky Friday AU.
Jim has a delightful realization after landing in Strickler's body: Strickler is super freaking strong. Which is weird because he doesn't look like he should be, but after a day or so Jim realizes there's a sense of...potential in Strickler's movements. One that requires a series of rigorous scientific tests:
Can I bend this fork? Yup.
Can I punch a dent into a tree? Yup! But, ow.
Can I lift this heavy rock? Yup.
Can I throw this heavy rock? Yup!
Can I lift a car?! Yup--well, the frontend at least. But now Strickler's pissed and he's yelling at me about wrecking his body and his suspension so maybe I'll stop.
And when he's in troll form? Forget it. He gains a sobering appreciation for the opponents he's up against. If Strickler can do all of this, imagine what Draal, or Bular or, Gunmar must be capable of.
And that comes with a realization of its own: Strickler has always been capable of this. At any time since learning the truth he could have hurt Jim--badly. And that's just physically; poking around in Strickler's stuff, and hearing the colorful stories associated with what he finds, reveals that Strickler's got a lot of ways to kill people, and most of them wouldn't leave a trace of foul play behind.
So now Jim's upset because Strickler's been holding back on him this whole time. And he's not sure what makes him angrier: the idea that Strickler doesn't take him seriously as an opponent, or the knowledge that Strickler is going out of his way to avoid hurting or killing him, which means he does care about him--just not enough to be on his side.

Liz Walker POV
Inside Barbara's car, Liz casually rests against the back seat, her eyes closed and arms crossed over her chest, tuning out the blaring sirens to listen to the conversation between Barbara and Strickler from outside in front of the police station.
"I can't thank you enough for coming to the station. They are so lucky she didn't press any charges." Barbara said in gratitude.
"Ms. Nomura is a personal friend. She agrees with me that this was nothing more than a reckless youth run amok." Strickler replied.
Before she could hear more, Liz felt a slight movement beside her. She opens her eyes to see Toby perked up from his seat, leaning forward to peer through the front windows.
"I mean, who else do you think is hiding an evil troll face? Coach Lawrence? Steve?" Toby let out a small gasp. "What if Strickler's one of them?"
"Strickler's been teaching history at Arcadia Oaks High since the dawn of history. If he's one, I'm one." Jim replied in earnest. However, Liz wasn't convinced as she turned her sight onto Jim through the side-view mirror. She saw Jim catch the suspicious eyes of Toby, watching Mr. Strickler with an untrustful look. Jim scoffed, rolled his eyes, and pushed Toby back, grabbing the phone and finding the picture that Toby had taken of the bridge, yet the symbols were barely visible as the image was blurry with flares of light.
"I know where I've seen this bridge. It's the same one that Blinky was talking about." Jim recalls.
"What? The Killa-thingy Bridge? That's, like, ancient history, right?" Toby questions, prompting Liz to speak up. "You mean the Killahead Bridge used during the Battle of Killahead Bridge as a portal to exile Gunmar and his army to the Darklands."
Toby glances at Liz. "Yeah, that one."
"They're trying to break Gunmar out," said Jim in dreadful realization, turning his head to look Toby and Liz in the eyes. "This is bad, guys. Like, "Goodbye, Arcadia" bad. As soon as we get home, we're going to Blinky."
Suddenly, the driver's side car door was pulled open with Barbara's voice startling the boys back into their seats in panic. "You didn't have to go through all this trouble, Mr. Strickler."
Jim quickly handed Toby's phone back, hiding his hands as his face had held many emotions. Strickler appeared in the passenger window, startling Jim as he spoke suddenly. "Please, "Walter." I'm sorry we had to meet under this unfortunate circumstance."
"There must be some way I can repay you. Coffee? Dinner? Appendix removal?" Barbara suggests, making the boys' eyebrows raise in shock as Liz struggles to hide her chuckle.
"I-Coffee would be a delight. And a rain check on the appendectomy." Strickler simply replied.
"Looking forward to it, Walter," Barbara said, making Liz want to cringe at that point. Though she found it amusing at first, she did not want to stick around and listen to it any further, wishing to be somewhere else.
Glancing at Jim, Mr. Strickler warns his student. "Watch yourself, Young Atlas. Next time, the consequences could be more severe."
With that being said, Strickler left as Jim turned to look at his mom. "Did you actually just ask my teacher out on a date?"
As soon as Jim asked that, everyone flinched back at Barbara's raised tone of voice. "Don't you make this about me. You guys broke into a museum!" Then, Barbara picks up a Chubby Tracker, continuing her scoldings. "And for this? You are grounded until you apologize to that woman."
Dropping the tracker, Barbara started the car while Jim let out a large exhale before his mother pointed her finger at him again. "You got me?"
"Yes, Mom."
"Yes, Dr. Lake."
"Yes, ma'am."
All three teenagers mumbled in reply. Turning on the ignition, Barbara turns her head to Liz. "Where do you live, Liz?"
***
Right after getting dropped off at the main entrance of her apartment, Liz waited until Barbara's car turned from the street out of sight before walking to her motorbike parked a few lots away.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated in her pocket. Taking it out, a picture of herself and Claire with poorly attempted Leia buns appeared on the screen, calling her. Instant realization crossed her mind. The rehearsal! I completely forgot!
Tapping the green button, Liz brings the phone to her ear. She faked a cough as she answered. "Hello?"
"Liz! Where are you? You were supposed to be here an hour ago. I got called by Ms. Janeth to practice in your stead as an understudy." Claire said.
Again, Liz faked another cough, trying to make her voice sound hoarse. "Sorry, Claire. I wasn't feeling so good after work that I went straight home and was knocked out. I think I caught my coworker's cold."
Claire gasps. "That's terrible, Liz! Don't worry. I'll let Ms. Janeth know and practice in your stead until you get better."
"Thank you, Claire. I owe you one." Liz replied in gratitude.
"No problem. Get some rest and call me if you need anything." Claire replied. After exchanging goodnights with one another, Liz hangs up and pockets her phone away.
Hopping onto her motorbike, she speeds out into the night, the engine roaring behind her like a pack of demons giving chase as it echoes her turbulent thoughts of her now chaotic mind.
How did these troll shapeshifters and goblins escape from the Darklands? Could there be a loophole somewhere? How long have they been walking amongst humans without anyone's knowledge? Who else could be a troll shapeshifter in disguise - besides the museum curator - in this small human town? And what is her connection between herself and the legendary Killahead Bridge?

Liz's thoughts continued to consume her mind by the time she reached Trollmarket alongside Jim and Toby, only to calm when she entered the pub gradually. Inside, Blinky and AAAARRGGHH sat at their usual table, drinking and chatting until they took notice of their human friends.
"Aha! There you three are! We've been waiting for hours," Blinky calls them out, waving the trio over to the table. The three teenagers each took a seat, their unsettled expressions drawing Blinky's full attention. "Hmm. Judging by your faces, something has happened."
Liz nods. "Jim and Toby found the goblin's den at the museum, but there's more. Last night, while all of you were investigating the goblin in the neighborhood, I went to the museum--"
"Whoa! Hold up. Are you telling me that you broke into a museum? Not just once, but twice?" Toby interrupts, flabbergasted. Liz groans, not entirely understanding why everyone is making a big deal of breaking and entering - despite her history of doing so more times than she could count - when there are worse things to worry about. "Yes, I did though I wouldn't call it breaking in. It's more like sneaking in, and I don't see how that matters now since we all did it. May I continue, please?"
"Uh...yeah," Toby said as Liz sighed. "Thank you. As I was saying, I went to the museum that night because, during our school field trip there, I felt traces of magic."
All of Blinky's widened, but thankfully he did not interrupt, listening intently.
"Come to find out, it was the Killahead Bridge that was emanating magic. It felt like I was led to it like I was meant to find it." Liz continued, unaware of the glances exchanged between Blinky and AAARRRGGHH. "Then, Nomura - the museum curator - appeared. I assumed that she was some unlucky human threatened to help Bular in rebuilding the bridge, but I was wrong after witnessing her transformation into a troll."
Blinky's and AAARRRGGHH's mouths drop open at her words.
"So you knew?" Jim interrupted this time, Liz's gaze turning towards him. "You knew about the bridge and that troll. Why didn't you say anything to us before we went into the museum?"
"Because no one would believe me unless I had proof, but I was on the verge of getting caught by that shapeshifter, so I escaped before I could gather any, and besides, I didn't think you and Toby would trace the goblin's den to the museum. If I had known, I would have stopped you both from going in, but I was too late."
"Hey, at least we made it out alive. And speaking of proof, you're in luck, my friend, because I do happen to have it in my very hands," Toby said as he pulled out his phone from his pocket, waving it in the air. "Behold! The evidence that proves the existence of the magic bridge!"
Toby brings up the image into full screen and hands it to Blinky. "Are you certain? Are you unquestionably, unequivocally..."
"I'm certain," Jim said affirmatively.
"Could be anything," AAARRRGGHH said before Blinky spoke up again, his eyes squinting at the blurry image of a glowing, half-completed bridge. "I concur."
"Tobias' photographic skills are less than exemplary," Blinky commented, making Toby's eyes roll. "Okay, it's a little blurry! You try taking a picture while hauling butt, mister!"
"Okay, well, what about the curator? How could a person just change like that?" Jim quietly asked as Blinky waved over a waiter, grabbing a drink off the tray as AAARRRGGHH communicated in troll language. "Could it be a Changeling they are referring to?"
Liz perks up at the familiar term as Blinky responds in troll language. "I fear as much, but perhaps, they may be wrong."
"It is a Changeling! I know what I saw. It may be my first time seeing one, but there's no mistaking it." Liz argued in troll language, making the trolls blink in surprise, forgetting for a moment that she can also understand and speak their native language.
"What? What is it?" Jim asked curiously, his eyes switching between the three, lingering on Liz the most.
"Changeling," AAARRRGGHH said simply, and perhaps a little too loud for comfort, making Blinky's eyes widen with shock, spitting out all the liquid that he hadn't swallowed as gasps filled the pub. With a quick movement, Blinky tried his best to cover AAARRRGGHH's mouth with only one of his hands. Every troll that had been relaxing in the bar turned to the table that had spoken that name. In response, Blinky let out a nervous chuckle and patted the smooth stone of AAARRRGGHH'S face, gesturing that his friend must have been drunk as the trolls turned around and conversed like usual.
"Not helping," Blinky scolded. AAARRRGGHH apologized. "Sorry."
Liz, Jim, and Toby leaned in closer, Blinky's voice dropping as he cupped his mouth with his hand, hiding the conversation from others. "Changelings haven't been talked about in quite some time."
While listening, Liz notices a troll, recognizing him as he stops behind them, eavesdropping. "Do you mind, Schmidt?"
"Whatever," said the eavesdropping troll, rolling his eyes as he moved away. Blinky started again. "In the Old World, Gumm-Gumms..."
The same troll stopped on the other side, peeking behind AAARRRGGHH, yet no one had missed his hulking figure. This time, Blinky threw him a threatening glare. Again, Schmidt rolled his eyes. "Fine."
Finally, after Schmidt leaves them to their little secret, Blinky continues. "...Stole our young and did something unnatural to change them. Their sole purpose...."
"To spy on the world above," Liz concluded.
Toby was intrigued. "What did they do to them?"
"Nasty business. Very messy." AAARRRGGHH replied, shaking his head, disturbed at thought.
Blinky waved Liz and Jim over, knocking a cup off in the process but caught it with his other hand and set it back on the table before leading the two protectors away. The three passed by as trolls played darts, using gnomes.
"These are the very reasons I doubt your certainty. I don't question you saw a bridge, but Killahead? It would take years to collect all of the stones. Decades, even. You would need an army of changelings." Blinky said in concern.
"I know what I saw," Jim said with certainty. "But if you can't take my word for it, then at least take Liz's. She knows about this kind of stuff more than I ever will."
Liz nods as they climb a set of stairs. "I understand that you are careful, Blink. But I swear that what we saw is real. I don't know why I was drawn to the bridge or made it glow, but I know for certain that it's Killahead."
Surprise flickered over Blinky's face. "You made it glow?"
Liz raised an eyebrow, wondering what Blinky knew. "Yes, when I made contact with it. And not only that, while I was fighting off the changeling, she admitted that she was not working alone. They're out there walking amongst us for who knows how long, and there is no doubt in my mind that they are close to finishing what they started."
Pausing at the landing, Blinky glances between Liz and Jim. "These are serious accusations, Master Jim, Lady Liza. Without proof, absolute bedlam will ensue."
Blinky continues ahead of the two protectors as Toby pops around the corner behind them. "Well, we have to tell someone. This is our city, too."
"Who? Our court-appointed psychiatrist? They're never going to believe us." Jim added, looking a bit defeated. Before Liz could say anything, a giant blue troll blocked their path. It was Draal, smiling with excitement as he stared down at his opponent. "Well, if it isn't the piece of flesh I'll pound into pancakes tomorrow. I look forward to your pain, and I'll drink to your death."
Jim's face turns pale, turning around to look at Blinky and Liz. "Death? What is he talking about? I thought this was only a rematch."
The cat is out of the bag. Liz thought to herself as she sighed. "To challenge a troll's honor can only end in ruin."
"It's all right there in chapter three of A Brief Recap – " Blinky stated before a disappointing realization crossed his mind. "You still haven't read the book."
"Now, hold on. This fight, I don't know, maybe we can, um, postpone it?" Jim said, even though he hadn't much hope that he'd get a positive answer.
"Postpone, you say? What a trainer! Does everyone in your company forget how to fight?" Draal chuckled in mockery. As AAARRRGGHH growls in response, Liz steps forward, glaring at the troll. "It seems your memory is getting dull, Draal. Perhaps I need to sharpen it for you."
"I'd like to see you try, princess," Draal scoffed. A steely glint flashed in Liz's turquoise eyes upon hearing that nickname. She recalls the past when Draal used to call her that. Whether endearing or not, he knew that she dislikes it and would sometimes use it to either annoy or distract her during their duels. Throughout her training, she learned not to react and simply ignore it, keeping her head straight in a fight. However, that does not mean she would let her opponent go unscathed.
With a menacing grin, Liz takes another step forward and speaks in troll language. "That can be arranged, old-timer."
Draal's eyes widened at first, almost forgetting that Liz could speak his native language, but then his expression turned into a sneer. Noticing the tension and a potential storm brewing, Jim intervenes, stepping in between the two and placing a hand on Liz's shoulder as he looks up to Draal. "There are things that have been brought to our attention. Things that have serious implications."
Blinky panics. "No, no, no, Master Jim! Shh!"
"By Kanjigar's honor, I would have made your death swift and painless, but, for that act of cowardice, I will show you no mercy when I take back what's rightfully mine." Draal growls at Jim. "Bid farewell to your loved ones, Jim "the Dead Meat.""
With that, Draal grunts and walks away, leaving Jim to process the information as Liz and Toby give a comforting hand.
"I'm going to die tomorrow," Jim said as he and his best friend sighed in defeat. Liz nudges her arm against Jim, gaining his attention.
"You won't die tomorrow, Jim. You will live to see another sunrise. I'll make sure of it. Now come on, Trollhunter. You still have training left, and there are a few more things I need to teach you before the night is over."
***
At the Hero's Forge, the Trollhunter stood in the center of the arena, his armor donned and sword in hand. A few feet away from him, Liz walks around him in a circle, her hands clasped behind her back. Toby and AAARRRGGHH sat down on the sidelines as Toby rambled on how he fought with the goblin and got his Chubby Tracker back. Blinky was not with them at the moment, perhaps in his study, contemplating the disturbing news they brought.
Stopping in front of Jim, Liz glances down at her watch before looking up and setting her hands on her hips. "Alright, since we got less than 12 hours before your fight, I'm going to teach you a few things I've learned that will help you defeat someone like Draal."
"You fought Draal?" Jim asked with wide eyes. Liz nods. "Multiple times though never to the death. Only for training purposes." She shrugs. "And for fun."
"I don't see how any of this is fun," Jim grimaced. Liz smiles. "You'll enjoy it once you get the hang of things."
"Now, what did you notice about Draal during your spar with him," Liz asked as she paced around Jim in a circle.
"He's an arrogant jerk." Jim bluntly stated, making Liz crack with laughter. "That I agree, but I'm talking about strengths and weaknesses, Trollhunter."
"Oh, umm..." Jim thought to himself for a moment. "..he has brute strength and – can curl himself into a ball and roll around with his spikes on his back to defend himself against enemies."
"Good! So, what about his weaknesses?" Liz questioned.
"Hmm. I – can't think of one other than his arrogance." Jim answered. Liz nodded as she continued to walk around him. "Okay. You're right about his arrogance. It can cloud one's judgment during a fight and ultimately lead to defeat if not controlled. Again, as I mentioned before from your first training session, arrogance gets you killed. Besides that, Draal has another weakness. A common blind spot that most trolls have. Can you guess where it is?"
Jim's eyebrows scrunch together as he thinks carefully to himself. His gaze wanders around the arena, settling on his friends, chatting on the sidelines. Watching AAARRRGGHH nodding his head to Toby's words, Jim realized something he had never noticed before. "His back. He cannot look over his shoulders."
"Bingo," Liz said, startling Jim at the sound of her voice, seemingly closer to him than usual. He snaps his head to see Liz standing next to him with a beaming smile as she continues. "If things get out of hand, just kick him in the gronk-nuks and get behind him."
Jim blinks, feeling his face warming at her closeness. "R-Right. G-Good idea."
"Great!" Liz clapped her hands. "Now that we know Draal's strengths and weaknesses, it's time that you learn how to use them and your surroundings to your advantage. After all, this training ground is where you'll be fighting tomorrow."
Leaving Jim standing at the center, Liz walks to the edge of the arena and whistles loudly to Toby and AAARRRGGHH across from her, gaining their attention. "For your safety, I suggest you both step back a bit."
After complying with her warning, Liz taps her foot on the floor, activating the mechanical obstacles. Feeling the ground tremble beneath their feet, Jim's eyes widen, his hands clenching the handle of his sword in front of him nervously as Liz casually stands with a smile.
"Let's begin."

Y/n laid in the couch of her house with a transformed Jim on her lap. She whispered a lullaby lost to time as she moved the hair away from his crunch up blue face. From the kitchen, she could hear her mother threatening her father but she ignored the screams, trying to make her lullaby the only sound her brother could hear in his slumber.
“Uuhm…guys he’s waking up” called Claire as soon as Jim started moving.
Jim groaned, taking his hands to his head, quickly standing up when he realized where he was.
“Honey, do you feel okay?” Barbara ran to his side.
Y/n stood up giving Jim space to come to.
“He’s fine” Merlin screamed from the dining room, annoyed with all the fuzz surrounding Jim.
“We’re not asking you” Blinky said.
Barbara grabbed his son’s face, trying to send him some kind of peace through her soft hands.
“I’m fine” Jim grabbed his mother’s arm. Jumping back into the couch, screaming in horror when he saw his hand was no longer pink and made of flesh “Ah! What’s wrong with my hand?” Jim observed his hands, his once rosy, five five finger extremities were now blue, four fingers trollish hands.
“Nothing’s wrong with your hand…It’s just a little…meatier” Claire explained with a smile.
“In a good way” Toby chuckled “It’s like you leveled up”
Aaarrrgghh walked forward, sniffing Jim, shaking his head at the new smell:
“No like. No like Troll Jim” he pulled away.
“My elixir transformed out trollhunter into something not quite human, not quite troll” explained Merlin.
“Like a changeling?” Asked Toby.
“No” Strickler examined Jim’s face as Y/n and Barbara helped him get down from the couch. “Changelings switch from fully troll to fully human. Jim is…neither”
Jim ran to the kitchen, jumping through the table, grabbing the toaster to observe his new appearance in the reflection.
“This isn’t so bad” Toby followed him “You know, after a little haircut, we’ll find you some sunglasses, maybe a good dentist, huh? I know one” he pointed to his teeth “You’ll be right back to normal”
“I’m hideous” Jim kept looking at his reflection, mourning his human face.
“You’re really not” said Claire with a sincere smile on her face.
Y/n pulled back from the scene in the kitchen with a smile on her face, glad for the friends her brother had.
“Hhm. Troll. Jim is troll…like Aaarrrgghh” Aaaarrrgghh laughed, happy at the realization, running laps around the house to release the happiness that his body couldn’t contain.
“Forgive Aaarrrgghh he’s emotional and I'm at lost” Blinky pointed his finger to Merlin “Why would you do this to him?”
“To prepare him for the final battle. He is now capable of feats we never thought possible” Merlin explained.
“Like what?” Jim turned, interested in Merlin’s words.
“Let’s go outside” Y/n grinned imagining the range of Jim’s new abilities.
The night was warm. Y/n and Merlin stood with their backs to the warm wind, arms crossed observing an excited Aaarrrgghh prowling a transformed and excited Jim.
“Now then, we don’t know the limits of master Jim’s…or should I say “Troll Jim’s” new form, so let’s try to take this slowly” Blinky warned as he observed Aaarrrgghh and Jim boxing.
“Good one” Aaarrrgghh chuckled after Jim landed a punch “Troll” he punched him back sending him flying back through the fence.
“Are you even listening?” Blinky scolded.
“Sorry” the bigger troll stopped laughing.
“Master Jim” Blinky called into the night.
Jim jumped out from between some bushes
“I didn’t feel a thing!” He ran back, charging at Aaarrrgghh.
“I like new Jim. Troll Jim” Aaarrrgghh got ready to receive the attack
Jim jumped in the air grabbing Aaarrrgghh by the neck, pushing him to the ground. The troll was surprised by the force his friend had but was able to stabilize himself quickly.
“I got you” Aaarrrgghh held Jim in his arms.
Jim easily escaped the bigger troll’s grip.
“Troll Jim strong” observed Aaarrrgghh.
Jim punched Aaarrrgghh in the face without feeling a thing.
“Troll Jim fun” he grunted, slapping Jim’s stomach.
“Half troll, full hunter” Merlin pointed out to Jim and Aaarrrgghh wrestling in the ground “You’re welcome” he pated Blinky’s shoulder before disappearing into the house.
Blinky threw the wizard a dirty look and looked back at the younger sorcerer.
Y/n lifted her shoulders and followed her father into the house. She carefully placed her feet on the ground every time she stepped, afraid that the wood would creak under her weight. She didn’t want to be heard. She had one objective: to find Morgana before her father.
The floor didn’t betray her once but the doorknob squeaked when she tried to open it. Her breath got stuck in her throat. She turned around, her wide eyes finding Strickler’s curious ones.
“Y/n?” Merlin’s voice echoed through the house.
Y/n’s legs started to shake like a childhood nightmare had come to life. She looked up, her mouth open but her voice died on her throat.
“No, Merlin. It’s me” answered Strickler.
Y/n frowned.
“The door is open. I’m closing it” Strickler opened the door giving her the opportunity to leave “I don’t know what happened”
Y/n nodded. She took the opportunity without thinking twice. She ran before Merlin could appear in the living room.
Arcadia’s park was almost empty. Y/n stood close to the entrance as she observed the only visitors left: a group of teenagers and an elderly couple watching the scenery.
“You’re late”
Y/n looked around. The owner of the squeaky voice was nowhere to be seen.
“Over here!” Whispered impaciantly.
Y/n looked down at the bush next to her, between the flowers there was a familiar brown mouse. She crouched down, moving the leaves to observe the creature from up close.
“Finally!” He stretched his hands up to the sky.
Y/n frowned. She knew this mouse.
“Alfred?”
“Who else?” He cocked his head.
“I didn’t recognise your voice. You never…mouse up?” She picked him up from the dirt.
“The gates of hell are open. I have to hide”
“You felt it too?”
He nodded.
“Father made Jim into a troll” she confessed.
“Merlin? He’s all in” he played with his tail.
Y/n nodded.
“I want to find Morgana”
“What?” Alfred’s hair stood up “No”
“Maybe if I talk to her…”
“No”
“Let me try…I’m the only one she won’t hurt”
Y/n and Alfred stared at each other. They both knew that the girl was right. That somewhere in all that madness, in all that anger, the wizard had a soft spot for Y/n, for her little sister, for the one she has to protect. They also knew that Morgana still had the hope that, one day, Y/n would betray her father and would join her in her crusade.
“Fine” he whispered, not happy with the idea.
Y/n looked up. The old couple was still looking at the passers by, the teenagers were still talking amongst themselves. No one was watching. She took Al into the deep of the bush and walked a couple of steps back.
“I do not completely approve” he walked out of the bush back in his cat form.
“I know” sighed and started walking.
Alfred jumped to Y/n’s shoulder and said:
“Do you have any idea about where we are going or it’s just vibes?”
“I’m thinking about Morgana and letting her magic take me there” she said, focusing on the thin golden string “Also, vibes? I don’t like that you’re spending too much time with Douxie’s band members” she joked.
“You just described a mix of vibes and magic. Am I wrong?”
Y/n rolled her eyes.
She pulled on the hot string through all Arcadia until she found herself in an all familiar path.
“Trollmarket” she looked down at the canal.
“Let’s get down” Al jumped down from her shoulders.
They started climbing down when Alfred stopped on his tracks “Y/n?” He looked down
“Yeah?” She jumped down to the floor and shook the dirt from his palms.
Before the cat could speak his mind the floor started buzzing quickly escalating into an earthquake that threw Y/n to her knees. Al ran to the wizard’s side and clinged to her jeans.
The earthquake ended as abruptly as it started. The wizard and the familiar shared a look before sharing their suspicion.
“Morgana”
They both started walking to the entrance to trollmarket when a familiar clanking of an armor made Y/n stop.
“Father?” She frowned when she saw Merlin with his ear glued to the ground “What are you doing?”
“Looking” he mumbled as he walked to a wall and smelled.
“Insane” whispered Alfred.
Y/n bitted her lip and looked at the pink sky trying not to laugh.
“Do you need help?” She asked, hoping he wouldn’t ask why they were there.
Merlin kept walking around in circles, his mind lost in thought.
“You! It’s all your fault” Claire appeared in front of the older wizard in a fit of rage, her shadow staff pointing to his throat.
“What’s going on?” Y/n took a step forward while her father wouldn’t move, his hands resting on his hips.
“Jim vanished. Now my shadow staff can’t find him” Claire screamed without turning his gaze from the older wizard.
Y/n sighed.
“Mmh” Merlin scratched his beard.
“Are you even listening to me?” Claire insisted, shaking her staff.
“You can’t find Jim because there is no Jim. At least not the one you knew” Merlin grabbed the point of the shadow staff and inspected it up close.
“Listen up, puzzlemaster…” Toby screamed, losing control of his bike.
“I’m sorry, Claire…” Y/n started.
“I don’t know what you did to him” Toby regained control and rode up to them “but when this is all over, you’re turning him back” he pointed to Merlin with a nuggat nummie.
“Back?” Merlin grabbed the sweet from the teen’s hand “there’s no “back” he took a bite “It’s permanent” he walked away leaving them with the heavy knowledge.
“What?” Y/n’s voice was softer than she expected.
Merlin looked back at the frown on her daughter's face. Confusion and hurt merging together, he hasn’t seen such discomfort since the day Morgana was declared enemy of Camelot.
“You can’t leave it like this” she said. Half a plea, half a demand “He’s my brother”
In a lot of ways, Y/n was still the girl that grew up too fast. The prodigy of Camelot. The daughter of the greatest wizard to ever exist. The girl that Camelot had clawed her open and forced to be women with no time to be a child. But time away from eyes that need too much and give too little has made her grow. Grow stronger. Grow tired. In Arcadia, she could occupy space without having to kneel.
“He’s half troll, half brother”
Y/n had to consciously keep away her nails from impale her palms. She looked at the sky once more and among the clouds imagined herself in another universe.
“Look down” Al pulled her pants.
Y/n sighed, lowering her head to see her father kneeling down on the floor.
“What are you doing?” She frowned, no humor in her voice.
“Mm yes, yes” Merlin licked the floor.
“Gross! What’s your deal, dude?” Complained Toby “You trolled Jim. You lick cement”
“Amazing” Al couldn’t believe what he was seeing, he wished Archie were here to share this moment.
“Are there any other secrets you’re keeping from us?” Toby continued.
“Oh, plenty” Merlin licked the floor again.
“You can always assume he is hiding something from you” Y/n added, arms crossed.
“Tell us” said Claire.
“But then they wouldn’t be secrets” Merlin stood up, half a smile on his face.
“But then they wouldn’t be secrets” Y/n quietly mocked at the same time the wizard spoke.
Al giggled at the boldness of her friend. He had heard Y/n asked her father to let her in once too many times and he had heard as many times the door closing.
The ground started shaking again. Al jumped to the safety of Y/n’s arms. Toby hugged Claire for stability and comfort. The shaking stopped even faster than the last one, worrying the older wizards.
“Are those quakes coming from Trollmarket?” Claire asked, looking down in worry for the place she once knew.
Y/n and Al shared a look.
“Worse. Morgana” Merlin turned to Claire “We need to find the Trollhunter”
Y/n ran through Arcadia to the rooftop of the school when she got Toby’s call. She followed the voices until she saw her brother surrounded by the people he loved.
“I can’t live in your world anymore. I can’t be in the daylight” he cried, walking backwards to the edge of the building “I can’t eat dinner”
“Who cares about all that stuff” Y/n said out of breath “Your essence hasn’t changed. Your soul hasn’t changed”
He kept backing away from the world he once knew.
“Let us help you” Barbara reached out but Jim pulled back, he kept walking until he reached the edge of the building.
“Master Jim” Blinky appeared out of thin air.
“Ah!” Jim screamed in terror.
“Where are you going in such a hurry?” He stepped out of Aaarrrgghh’s hand and walked forward making Jim walk away from the edge, back to his friends “There seems to be something different about you. Why, with a few more eyes and arms we could be related” he gave him a friendly punch in the arm.
“Troll brother!” Aaarrrgghh tried to reach the top of the building.
Jim chuckled.
“What am I Blinky?” He asked, seriousness returning to his face.
“When I gaze upon you, do you know what I see?”
He shook his head.
“I see a champion. A friend. A son. A magnificent son” Blinky took him by the shoulders and hugged him
“I’m scared” Jim said into the hug.
“Goodness gracious, who isn’t?”
Claire and Toby ran to hug his friend and Y/n closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, thankful that Jim was able to find a center in his new form as quickly as he did. A slow clap made her open her eyes.
“Splendid” Merlin said “Team trollhunter is back together. I knew you would figure it out”
Y/n rolled her eyes.
“Ah. This has been rather heartwarming,” he continued.
“Why don’t we treat it as such?” Y/n put her hand on her father’s shoulder making him turned to her
“Unless you plan to hug Gunmar to death…”
Jim rolled his eyes.
Merlin turned back to the trio:
“I advise we make ready because, as you say these days, “the fight is on”
“We didn’t practice this” Y/n sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
