AAADHEJKE Battinson Part 2 confirmed for Oct 2025
AND A feature film called The Brave and The Bold FEATURING DAMIAN WAYNE
Please don’t fuck it up PLEASE Mr Gunn and Mr Safran PLEASE
Also they said it would feature the extended batfamily. Sobbing.
Battinson Part 2 is separate from TBATB, but the two projects will work together. They haven’t decided who will act as Batman for TBATB.
They said that Bruce didn’t know about Damian for the first 8-10 years of his life, leading me to believe that DAMIAN WILL BE LITTLE. please god let him be a 10 yr old assassin.
The film will be heavily inspired by the Grant Morrison Batman run.

hi saki hiii if it's not 2 much of a bother, do u have a link to a batman reading list w some of the older comics u often talk abt? despite The Disease I've only read maybe 4 actual Bruce Wayne centered runs
-Angel 🫶🏾
HI ANGEL !!! unfortunately i have not yet found a good reading list of older batman comics. most of them are just like "read every single thing published since 1940" and like, okay, fair enough, but also no one wants to do that.
fortunately this gave me an excuse to look through my own fav reads and compile a short list to get you started! the thing about older batman comics is that (personally) they are far more easier to follow compared to modern day comics, so once you get familiar with the older style and layouts, it's so easy to just find the kind of stories you want to read!
most of these are published after the 1970s but all of them are before the New 52 (2011) !!
for a more concise list (+content/trigger warnings) you can find this reading list on my comic geeks.
> Batman: Legends of The Dark Knight
now this collection features over 200 issues and a dozen writers BUT it's because it's full of 2-4 issue short stories. out of these, the ones i recommend most to begin with are; #16-20 (venom), #39-40 (mask), #100 (the choice).
if you like the tone of these, then i would recommend reading the other stories too. great thing is that they're not connected to each other at all, so if you don't like one then you can skip it no problem. i definitely jumped over a few writers and weird stories when reading.
> Batman 1940
now from the main run itself, the advice to just read everything published is not worth it. some of these stories really just drag or are super confusing.
some favourites of mine to start with are; #402-403 (One Batman Too Many), #423 (You Shoulda Seen Him...) and of course, #404-#408 (Batman Year One).
> Detective Comics
now i have always been of the opinion that tec is the better of the two main runs, and you can really see the quality of story telling shine in older comics !
a few of my favourite issues are: #408 (The House That Haunted Batman), #439 (The Night of the Stalker), #457 (There is No Hope in Crime Alley!), #573-574 (My Beginning... and my Probable End) and #598-#600 (Blind Justice).
> The Brave and The Bold
all runs of tbatb runs, whether that be the 1950, 1990, 2007 or even present 2023 run, are so good !!!
for an older story, #93 (published 1970) is my favourite !!
> Batman Black and White
okay so i know i have been giving singular issue recs up until now but i am so serious when i say you should just read every single issue of Batman Black and White. there are three runs, the 1996, 2014 and 2020 with only around 6 issues each. some of the best and truly life changing stories are within it.
in fact, my all time number one favourite batman comic EVER is published in #1 of the 1996 run (Perpetual Mourning). there will never be a batman story ever like it again.
> Other Stories
there was something in the air during the 1990s, because some of the best ever batman stories were published during that time. i fear there has truly never been such a stacked decade like that one.
a few essential must reads from 1980s-1990s; Batman The Cult, Batman: Night Cries, Batman: War on Crime, Batman: The Ultimate Evil, Batman: Son of the Demon.
happy reading!!!!

My 9y/o likes Batman, so we're watching The Brave And The Bold with her. We just made it to the end of the first season, where Equinox meets his fate. Because it was an Equinox episode, there was much talk about preserving the balance of the universe. I don't like that idea. It's seldom used well. Most often, it manifests as "there needs to be a balance between good and evil. If they're balanced, things are good; if not, things are evil." Say what again? The TBATB episode took a somewhat less traveled road: "if order and chaos are in balance, things are orderly. If they're not, things descend into chaos." Yeah, right. If you say so.
I'm rubbish at Asian philosophy, so I don't know if this idea about keeping the balance is from Hinduism, Buddism, Confucianism, or something else entirely. But I'm fairly sure it's been botched in translation; both in translating the relevant books to European languages, and in transplanting the idea into a philosophy shaped by the European tradition. It may well be that the original concepts map to "good" and "evil". Still, it's nonsense to claim that we need equal amounts of good and evil for the world to be good. The proper amount of evil in a good world is zero!
In his Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson describes a world where "preservation" and "ruin" are out of balance. This in an excellent way of using the "we must restore the balance" trope. Preservation might initially seem like something good, but too much of it is stifling. Ruin might seem bad, but sometimes it's good to get rid of the old and make place for something new.
I can imagine that there might be a concept which can map to both "good", "order" and "preservation". I can imagine a corresponding/opposite concept, which maps to "bad", "chaos" and "ruin". I don't know if this is closer to the original Asian idea of the opposites that must be balanced. But at least it seems reasonable.

Jaime Reyes - Blue Beetle in Batman TBATB
Tumblr media
So like, don't get me wrong, i have loved DC for years. I got stuck on the og Teen Titans cartoon when i was younger and never really got out of DC after that. I would catch episodes here and there of Batman shows or Justice League. (100% had a gay ass crush on Shayera/Hawkgirl and Raven before i even realized i was bi - not the point though.) Anyways, I remember aside from the Teen Titans though i never caught much interest, and certainly did not stay super interested in the Batman family, etc.
i still watched them, but aside from Raven and Beast Boy, i never had much of a focus. And i kind of loved them in a similar vain to a lot of my other interests. And then it happened, thinking back on it, I actually think it was the first episode drop, not any sort of rerun, that I saw the first episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Which is called "Rise of the Blue Beetle" and introduces us to Jaime Reyes. It was over immediately - little 7 year old me absolutely LOVED Blue Beetle. Like, he became my favorite character, or at the most, more information stuck about him than even Teen Titans, though stubborn me refused to admit it because little me did not like changing favorites.
Years later, I remember basically nothing about Batman: TBATB, EXCEPT for Jaime Reyes and the Scarab (Khaji Da). it was my first introduction to the character and he stuck, to the point that years later I could still basically recount the first episode from memory.
Anyways, like I said, I never really got too much into Batman - though I fell in love with Flash from JL/JLU and that spiraled into my love for the speedsters, just, like, period. (They're my favorite family). However, i have been on a binge regarding Blue Beetle content, and I also owe it to him for introducing me to my tied favorite character, Bart Allen (Impulse). When Young Justice came out and i found out about it, the driving force behind me watching it was that I heard Blue Beetle ended up in it and i was sold, which then introduced me to Impulse and i started learning more on my own and then deep dived further down the rabbit hole of speedster lore.
While Bart is currently INCREDIBLY high on my favorites list, like, first place, he is tied with Jaime/Khaji Da (and will be because i have a special place for my favorite beetle boy).
I never got the chance prior to get heavy into comics that were DC - Marvel? Sure. But ask anyone that knows me and they'll tell you I know nothing about it.
There is not a really big point to this - I was just finally driven to watch the entire B:TBATB series (thank you @frostbittenbucky, and I was originally gonna watch only the episodes focusing of Jaime and the one with Bronze Tiger, but decided to actually watch all in case BB made any appearances).
i legit just wanted to dump about Jaime because I just finished "Fall of the Blue Beetle" and just, uhhhh, yeah.

Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight- Batman: The Brave and the Bold- “Invasion of the Secret Santas!”
Tumblr media
I know that I just did a DC episode, a DC holiday episode at that, but considering recent news, I felt like making an exception. I was intending to do a Spotlight for The Brave and the Bold soon, since I was in the process of rewatching it on HBO Max, but since it’ll be gone by the end of January, I don’t know if I’ll wrap it up by that point.
I did hit this classic, though, where Batman teams up with Red Tornado to stop the Toyman from ruining Christmas. Sounds like a perfect holiday episode, right? What’s even better is Corey Burton as Red Tornado, who does a perfect job of finding the android’s soul, which plays a big part of the episode.
There’s a chance that TBATB and Justice League, which is also leaving, will go to Amazon, as they’re working on a deal for DC. If you haven’t seen either show yet, I highly recommend them. Whether you binge them on HBO Max, wait for Amazon, go to iTunes or buy the physical releases (I do own the complete series of both on DVD), these are as good as super hero cartoons get.

Have you ever seen Batman: The Brave and the Bold? I've watched like two episodes of the cartoon, and not in order. But, there were episodes that had Captain Marvel team up with Batman and it was amazing! In one of those episodes Batman gets turned into a child and continues to become younger as a result of an attack from the monster society, fortunately the Marvel family (Billy, Mary, and Freddy) help him and fight the monster society +Mr. Mind. Great episode, but it really made me think that Justice League Unlimited really missed out on having Captain Marvel not be in that episode where the league turns into kids.
Do you think there were any other missed opportunities for Captain Marvel in Justice League Unlimited or Young Justice, or any other DC animated show?
(Sorry for the sudden ask, just wanted to scream about Captain Marvel to you)
Okay so im going to be completely honest. I haven't seen Batman tBatB but you're so right that JLU totally missed out by not including Billy in the kids episode of JLU (and just. more in general. put him in every episode please).
I also haven't watched a ton of JLU- a few months back I decided to watch it but I started in season two and just started clicking on episodes whose summaries interested me, so very out of order and very chaotic (I also didn't realize it was a sequel series to the Justice League series so that was confusing). I definitely missed the Billy episode in JLU (he fights mind-controlled superman, right?), so I also definitely have to go back and watch that one when I finally get around to watching JLU in order correctly.
So unfortunately, I can't say for sure if there were any missed Billy opportunities in DC shows (besides throw him in everything Please) because I haven't watched. Any of them.

Gotham Rogues x / & reader request blog!
I love a lot of existing rogues blogs but they always seem super busy and swamped so I figure another can't hurt and it'll give me a chance to practice my writing.
What's x / & mean?
Classically x and / are gendered relationship markers (x for m/f ships and / for m/m or f/f, originating the terms "slash fiction" and "femslash" to refer to lgbt shipping) but today they are largely interchangeable. However x and / both indicate romantic relationships. & indicates platonic and familial relationships. This helps avoid ship mixups!
What can I request here?
I have seen every Batman movie but not Catwoman, Joker, Justice League (either cut), or the 1940s serials. I have seen Batman 1966, Gotham, BTAS, TNBA, and Mask of the Phantasm but am not through Batman Beyond and have not seen The Batman 2004, TBATB, or Happy Halloween Scooby Doo. I am almost done listening to Batman Unburied but have not heard Rogues! Or Batman Audio Adventures. I do read comics but don't feel grounded enough in my knowledge to write comics canon yet. I have watched LPs of Arkham Asylum & City but have not finished watching LPs of Origins, Knight, or the Telltale series, and do not have the actual games to mine for details.
I would prefer only Rogues requests at the moment, I don't quite feel comfortable writing for the Batfam. I will also only write & fics for Ivy Pepper, Selina Kyle, and Jonathan Crane from Gotham.
Can I request NSFW?
I've never written NSFW before, nor do I have experience to draw on, but if you can stomach the awkwardness or inaccuracy go ahead.
Can I request a minor!reader?
No. If this is a success, I might later consider a seperate blog for strictly & requests but to start with I'd prefer minors don't interact at all.
Can I request a ship?
You can request a polyamorous reader fic i.e. nygmobblepot/reader or Harley x reader x Ivy, but for now I won't write direct ships.
Can I request a fic where a rogue with a "split personality" is "cured" or my favorite personality "wins"?
No. DC's treatment of mental health issues is always questionable and that's part of writing these characters at all, especially in regards to systems like Two-Face, but while I might mention conflict between system members I will not write about them being destroyed, erased, assimilated, or otherwise unmade to suit the preferences of the reader.

I'm not the type of Snyder cultist who hates everything WB does in principle, I don't think Zack is the only one capable of making good DC movies or that his interpretations and ideas are the only good kind.
Still, my optimism about the new DCU is cautious, because I still don't trust the execs. Like fine, it might not be run by the same guys who orchestrated the josstice league fiasco, but it is run by the guy who scrapped the batgirl movie after it was already almost finished.
My point is that this studio has not earned my trust. I'll be excited for individual projects but I don't think I can make myself be excited for the universe as a whole yet.
That said I'm glad they're doing a darker Supergirl instead of "what if Clark Kent, but girl" like the show, and Batman TBATB has me cautiously hopeful about finally getting a live-action batfam.
