And while his own hands were designed for destruction, he always made sure that you never knew of the blood that stained him. You were good, you were sweet, you were kind. You looked at him like he was something more than a soldier, something more than Kaminoan property. You treated him like he was something special, and all Wrecker wanted to do was treat you the same way.

But, kriff, no one else seemed to treat you like that. Not the regs, not the Kaminoans, not the Imperial officers. No one else seemed to realize you deserved to be treated like you were everything.

Sometimes, that was the only thing that made him question staying with the Empire. If no one could appreciate you like him, why should you and him remain? He should just scoop you up, steal a ship, and get to the first planet where he could provide you a good life. But, the Empire could provide a good life, too, right? If he continued to be a good soldier, if he continued to follow orders, if he continued to prove himself useful, it would amount to something. Right?

So, he tried to hold back on following instincts and ripping off the hands of the other people who dared to touch you. He had to be a good soldier. Good soldiers do not attack without orders to do so.

And yet, when he walked into the medbay and saw one of the regs reaching out toward you, his hand almost coming to rest on your hip, Wrecker wanted to dismember the man and beat him with his own limbs. Wrecker didn’t realize he had let out a low growl until your head whipped around to look at him, the reg’s eyes widening as he looked at Wrecker. The reg pulled his hand away. 

You looked over in the corner, where one of the Imperial officers stood. A few months ago, one of the natborns had gotten too handy with you and Wrecker nearly killed the man. The punishment had been worth it, but ever since, an officer was stationed in the medbay to prevent such situations from arising again. In the back of Wrecker’s mind, though, he couldn’t help but wonder if the officer was there to protect you or if he was there to incapacitate Wrecker if he acted out.

“Take a seat on the cot over there and I’ll be with you shortly,” you said, turning your attention back to the reg. 

Wrecker went to the other side of the room and sat on the cot. It sank under his weight. Wrecker ground his teeth together. Every day, it seemed, hatred began to burrow further and further into his chest. When Wrecker decided to stay with the Empire, to not follow his brothers in their desertion, he thought things would be different. He had been promised that things would be better. And, for a time, things were better. He was given a squad to lead, he was allowed to be more than the muscle and explosives specialist. He was allowed to be more. But, as the days passed by, as the days became months, Wrecker was all too aware that he still wasn’t respected. Kriff, they wouldn’t even get cots that could support him without threat of falling in. 

“Alright, you’re good to go,” you said to reg, finishing off the bandage on his shoulder. “Change your wrappings every couple hours, and keep an eye out for any infections. Come straight here if it gives you any trouble, okay?”

“Can I come even if it doesn’t give me trouble?”

You turned away, busying yourself with cleaning your tools. You looked at Wrecker, then the officer. “That would be inappropriate, trooper. My job is to treat injured soldiers. Such duties cannot be interfered with.”

“If you change your mind—”

“I will not.” You glanced up at Wrecker again, then back to your tools. You swallowed hard. “My duty is to the Empire.”

Wrecker looked at his feet, guilt weighing heavily on his chest. A good soldier does not question his superiors, he reminded himself. The Empire had done so much for him. Who was he to question them? To act as if he knew better? 

“Well—”

“Don’t you have training to go to, trooper?” the officer cut in.

The reg’s mouth snapped shut, though his eyes widened for a moment, just a fraction of a second, as if he forgot that the officer was there. He gave a curt nod, muttering a thank-you to you, then left the medbay without another word. 

As you finished cleaning your tools, you looked at the officer, offering a tight-lipped smile. “Thank you, sir.”

The officer nodded, watching you closely as you crossed the room to where Wrecker sat. Guilt still ate at him, chastising him for daring to think that the Empire wouldn’t do anything to protect you. Of the Empire would protect you. Wrecker had no reason to believe the Empire wouldn’t. 

You cast another glance at the officer before greeting Wrecker by saying his number. “How can I help you today?”

“Got blown up on the last mission,” Wrecker said, the tightness in his chest loosening as you rested a hand on his arm while looking him over for any obvious injuries. 

Your eyes immediately met his, your brows furrowed together in concern. Then you glanced back at the officer again and your face dropped, void of emotion. “Good thing you came here then. Can’t have our troopers harboring hidden injuries,” you said. 

Wrecker felt the hidden meaning behind the words. I’m glad you’re here. I want to take care of you. 

“That’s why I came here.”

The corner of your mouth lifted. You knew he meant, I love when you take care of me. 

Wrecker wasn’t very good at speaking in codes. He was a very direct sort of person. But, when it came to you, he was willing to speak in a language only the two of you understood. Like the Kaminoans before them, the Empire did not tolerate the clones having…relations. That never stopped Wrecker from loving you (how could it?), but it did limit the way he could express his feelings toward you. 

“Can you lay back so I can examine you?”

That was something Wrecker loved about you. You always asked permission, always made sure what you were doing was okay. It made Wrecker feel like a person, like he was something more than a soldier. Something more than a number. 

He removed some of his armor so that you could perform the examination before he laid back against the cot. Wrecker relaxed under your touch, the stress from the mission slowly melting away. You asked a few questions as you examined him, trying to determine if he was experiencing any pain. It was a bit hard to answer, if only because he could fall asleep under the gentleness of your touch. 

Then, he heard someone say your name. Wrecker sat up as you turned around, looking towards the door. 

“Vice Admiral Rampart,” you greeted. “Is there something wrong, sir?”

Rampart shook his head. “Oh, no, not at all.”

“Do ya have another mission fer me?” Wrecker asked. 

He hoped Rampart didn’t say yes. Wrecker had been looking forward to an evening with you. Usually when Wrecker got back from a mission, he had a day or two on Kamino before he was sent off on another mission. It had become routine for you to sneak into Wrecker’s bunk, or him into yours, and spend the time together. This last mission had lasted two weeks, and he was really itching for some alone time with you. 

However, Rampart ignored Wrecker, his focus entirely on you, as he said, “I’ve come to deliver the good news in person.”

“Good news?” you repeated, brows knit together. “I’m sorry, sir, but I wasn’t expecting any news.”

“There was an opening for a charge nurse,” Rampart explained. “After much consideration, you were determined to be the best fit for the position.”

Wrecker tensed. There was more to this, he was sure of it. It didn’t make sense for Rampart to come deliver this news. Wrecker just couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

“Oh. That’s wonderful. Thank you, sir,” you said. “I didn’t realize there was an opening here.”

“Oh, no, you misunderstand. The opening isn’t on Kamino. You’ll be going to Coruscant first thing tomorrow morning,” Rampart said. It was impossible to ignore his sly smirk. Wrecker wanted to punch it right off his face. 

Your mouth opened then closed. Wrecker noticed how your hands trembled, no matter how you tried to keep them steady. “It’s an incredible opportunity. I look forward to it. Thank you again, sir.”

Rampart looked over at Wrecker, his smirk growing, before he looked back at you. “It will be a shame to lose you, of course. Few nurses can take…such good care of our soldiers.”

You offered a tight-lipped smile. “I'm sure my replacement will be just as capable. The Empire only employs the best.”

“That we do.” Rampart’s smirk turned more into a sly grin. “Well, I won’t keep you from your work any longer.”

“Thank you again, sir…I appreciate the opportunity to better serve the Empire.”

Rampart nodded and began to leave. But before he reached the door, he turned back around. He said Wrecker’s number, making Wrecker straighten, nervous for what was to come. “There is a mission for you. You’ll be training soldiers on Daro starting tomorrow. Come to office when you’re done here and we’ll discuss the specifics.”

Wrecker nodded. “Yes, sir.”

Rampart left and, when you looked back at Wrecker, your eyes were glassy. Wrecker’s fingers dug into his leg, fighting the urge to reach out, to caress your face, to let you know that everything would be okay. But he didn’t have the luxury to comfort you. Not now. Not under the watchful eyes of the Empire.

Instead, Wrecker said, “Congratulations on the promotion. You’ll have to celebrate.”

I hate that they’re making you leave. I need to see you before they take you away from me.

“Thank you. I look forward to better serving the Empire.” You pushed on Wrecker’s shoulder, encouraging him to lie back down again. He did. You started your examination again. “I’ll have to celebrate this opportunity when I’m free.”

I hate this, too. When the day is over, I’m yours.

For the rest of the day, Wrecker felt like he was running on autopilot. He barely listened during his meeting with Rampart. He could hardly focus during his training. He wasn’t even entirely sure he managed to eat anything.

How could the Empire do this? How could they rip you away from him? Why was the Empire taking one of the few joys he had in his life? 

By the time the day turned the night and all of his and your obligations were satisfied for the day, Wrecker was ready to take you away from your job, carry you to your room, and worship you. Thankfully, he was able to restrain himself for long enough that he knew that he would less likely to be caught.

Now, Wrecker stood outside your door, Lula clutched in one hand. He raised his fist, rapping his knuckle on the door once, twice, three times. A beat passed, then two. The door opened, and you pulled him inside. You shut the door, twisted the lock, then threw your arms around him. 

Lula dropped from his hands. Wrecker lifted you, scooped you up in his arms, and walked over to your bunk. He settled on the mattress, holding you on his lap. You pressed your lips against him, kissing him so hard like you were trying become part of him. Wrecker slipped his hands down, resting them on your hips, tugging you closer to him. He needed to remember this. He needed to remember the feeling of you against him. He wasn’t sure if, when, he would ever get to experience this again. 

“I fucking hate this,” you mumbled against Wrecker’s lips. “Fuck the Empire. Fuck them for making me go away. I don’t wanna leave you.”

“Don’t say that. The Empire…It…” Wrecker tried to find the words to defend the government that had given him this sort of life, but nothing felt right. “We won’t be apart long. I know it. I just know it. I promise. You ain’t gettin’ rid o’ me.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Wreck,” you said. Your head dipped, nestling in the part where his neck met his shoulder. “This was always something that was gonna happen. We always knew this wasn’t…This isn’t the sort of thing that remains a secret, no matter how hard we try.”

Wrecker blinked. “You think…You think he knows about us?”

“Awfully convenient to send me away to Coruscant and you to Daro.” You let out a sigh, your breath tickling his neck. “I’m scared, Wreck. I don’t wanna lose you. I don’t want this to be our last night together.”

“It won’t. I’ll make sure of it.”

“Maybe we should have gone with your brothers. Maybe we should have listened.”

Wrecker pulled away, frowning at you. “You shouldn’t talk like that. The Empire…It…We have to…” Wrecker’s shoulders deflated and he tried again. “My brothers left us. How would that be any better?”

“At least they wouldn’t be separated. At least we’d be free to leave if they tried.”

Free? Wrecker’s head dipped, his cheek resting on the top of your head. He didn’t really know that word. Not in a practical way, anyways. Wrecker, his brothers, even the regs…None of them were supposed to know freedom. They were bred to fight, to lay down their lives for the Republic. In the absence of the Republic, they served the Empire. They were supposed to only know war and bloodshed and violence. He was never supposed to know the softness you offered him. 

But, even if he didn’t know the word, he loved the way you said it with such conviction. He loved you believed that the two of you could be free to live whatever life you and him so chose. Perhaps that was why he wanted to believe in the Empire. He wanted to trust that the Empire would treat you and him right. He wanted to believe that, one day, he would be done with fighting. He wanted to believe you and him would settle on some remote planet, somewhere quiet. Somewhere with a lot of forests, he thinks. Perhaps have a little farm. He would give you children, he would provide for you, he would give you the life you deserve. 

“…The Empire will give us that freedom.” And yet, despite his insistence, this faith in this system was starting to crumble. But he wasn’t sure for what he was going to fall into if he let it slip out from under him. 

You let out another sigh. “Forget I said anything. I don’t want us to argue now. I just wanna enjoy being with you while I still can.”

Wrecker nodded, kissing the top of your head. He was fine with that. He was fine with not thinking about how complicated and shitty and awful this all was. He was fine with not getting a headache from trying to sort through his feelings on the matter. He was fine with that. He just wanted you.

sam and colby hell week review

finally sat down to write out all of my thoughts on hell week. i'm gonna break down each video, how i feel about them, rate them, and whether or not i would watch them again.

i also did one for last year so if you wanna see that, here it is.

i'm gonna also do some rankings and maybe a bit of comparison to last years, and what i would love for them to do in the future.

idk if this is gonna be super long or what, but feel free to skip around or just read the ending lol

yorktown hospital: major positives of this video - the group that snc went with. i love nate and seth, and i think all of them together works so well. i think the backstory of this place is horrendous and breaks my heart to hear about all of the terrible things that happened. what i did find funny was that this was the way snc found out that the organized religion can be sinful lol like… did they not know that the church can be corrupt, or did they know and were just surprised? either way, i thought it was kinda funny. the jump-scares throughout this video (at least in the intro/history portion) were not my favorite but it's fine. they definitely put their all into this first video, that's for sure. i think this video was the beginning of showing that snc, for some reason or another, were gonna really be hamming up their comedy bits in these videos. i'm not sure why they felt the need to really go all in on the jokes. i think for this one it was… okay? but as you'll see later in my reviews, i don't think it flies most times. and i think this is the first instance of them (sort of) being told to leave. the stuff that they caught in the chapel, both the first time and the estes method time, was very interesting and creepy. ngl, chapels/churches creep me out… idk why.

so before i started writing my review i watched two witches react to this video, and they talked about trickster spirits playing around with snc a lot in this video. and honestly, i kinda feel like that's the case in some way or another. they also pointed out that sam always go for the darker questions like "are you here to harm us", "are you evil", shit like that. and i never noticed it before until now. and this will also be the umpteenth time i say this but sam, please, for the love of god… STOP TRYING TO CONNECT EVERYTHING IN THE MOMENT.

the hallway investigation was cute, if not a bit dramatic. and the solo investigations were interesting as well. especially with nate and seth and the fogging of the camera??? that was kinda creepy. overall, while they didn't get a shit ton of evidence, i think the general vibe of the video fit well for hell week, especially the start of it.

mcraven mansion: going into this video, i wasn't exactly excited. mostly bc i wasn't happy about the collab. like, i get that they were on todd and brett's podcast, but what do they have to do with ghost hunting? this kinda feels like a last minute type of deal, like they were supposed to film with someone else but things fell thru. maybe i'm wrong about that tho lol but, surprisingly, this video was pretty okay. i didn't getting annoyed as much as i thought i was going to. this was the shortest video of hell week, and it honestly felt like it too. but at the same time, it kinda dragged a bit as well. also, i'm trying to be more open about ppl randomly being psychic around them, bc i myself also get weird feelings from time to time and i know what it's like to be seen as crazy for experiencing what i have. however, it's really hard to take ppl seriously when they say things all of sudden. especially when it comes out of no where OR they're someone that's never had a paranormal experience before. evidence wise, i don't remember them getting a whole bunch. the door opening, that was kinda spooky. the rempod going off like crazy was also pretty cool. myrtles plantation: this video, highkey, was such a let down. i think the previous two were so good, especially for beginning hell week videos, and i expected this one to be a bit more solid. i had never heard of this place, so idk how haunted or not haunted it is. but i just feel like… nothing happened. i went into the video one way and came out the other side the same. i just feel very meh about this video overall.

the tour guide was very much… a tour guide lol idk how else to describe it, but she felt like someone trying to sell you on the place being spooky. and a side tangent, how come a lot of these videos don't have outros? or like, them talking about their night stay? very strange to leave out key details like that idk. the group that they were with, nate and amanda… yeah. i guess it worked. i'm always happy to see nate. and amanda is okay occasionally. this time around she wasn't up to her usual antics so i can appreciate that.

the reenactment…. why in god's green earth did snc do that, let alone leave it in? bc fun fact, they literally had a talk with their team before the video was posted about not including it. and i would love to know why no one thought to tell them that maybe it wasn't the most respectful thing to do. not only that, but it wasn't funny. so like… 0-2 there boys. the crystal that amanda gave colby was sweet, but knowing him he's not gonna use it to actually hone in his abilities. and the evil eye bracelets don't technically protect from evil spirits, just made mojo sent to you by humans, but it can't hurt you to have it so whatever. so the investigation itself was… fine, i guess. nothing too crazy. when they split off alone, that was where it got a bit interesting. sam was terrified, which always raises a red flag in me. bc while he can be jumpy or repeating "ooooh mmmyyy goooodddd" a lot, that doesn't mean he's scared. so when he actually is, it's a bit startling to me. the estes method with nate and amanda was actually pretty cool, i think that's where a lot of the evidence they got was the most compelling. and this is also the start of colby's audio being cut off. this happens like two or three more times and it makes no sense to me. idk if it's their camera (which is very possible) or if it's the ghosts, but either way, something doesn't want their conversation with colby to be known.

and the estes method with them all tied up around amanda was weird… but not in a paranormal way lol

trans-allegheny: i liked this video a lot, both when i first watched it and rewatching to do this review. michelle was a great addition to the video. and while she was a bit jumpy, it honestly didn't bother me. i did find it funny that michelle is a badass compared to all the boys, yet she was freaked out the whole time. as for the investigation, again, this was one that fell a little flat, but i don't think it was snc's fault completely. for whatever reason, the ghosts were just not fucking around with them or their vibe. i know the hide and seek game wasn't exactly the best thing for them to do, or the hopscotch trigger event they pulled later, but i don't think they were super disrespectful to the spirits. but the voice they caught saying lily on camera and not in the evp recorder was very compelling. honestly that part was creepy as hell to me. the estes method with michelle... eh. i get she was scared, but this was the only time her jumping got a bit too much for me. also, it's interesting how whoever they were talking to didn't want them there at all. it kinda felt as if some bigger spirit wasn't allowing them to talk to who was actually there. it could be that or the spirits for whatever reason felt disrespected by them.

the hopscotch thing was.......... a thing. why do i have a sneaking suspicion that sam came up with this trigger event lol the hide and seek game was an interesting concept, i guess. props to michelle for hiding bc i would have said absolutely fuck no baby to snc. that voice box that they used towards the end was somehow way creepier than anything else in the video. i think cutting out the radio static makes whatever voices that do come thru all the more scarier. overall, while this video did feel like a filler, i wasn't upset about it. i think it was right on the line of fully fun investigation and filler.

old washoe club: so by this point in hell week, i want the scariest, the creepiest, the overall terrifying-est videos snc can give us. halloween is approaching and i want to be spooked. and this video was… not that. i said earlier it was a bit of grower on me, and i can see myself liking it later down the line. and i do think that's the case to some degree. like i said earlier, i watched two witches react to their videos, and this was one of them. so now watching it for a third time just to do this review is not exactly sitting well with me since i still have the same reactions as i did before.

the place itself, honestly, doesn't seem haunted to me. maybe residual energy, sure, but nothing actually demonic or scary. or so i thought for the most part. when kris got scratched, that was really freaky. part of me is bit skeptical, bc i feel like it could have been her (bc snc saying "oh she can't even reach that part" is not believable to me lol all she had to do was stand up straight and i'm sure she could have) but i'll take their word for it that it wasn't her and it was something there that did that. i'm surprised at how well composed she was for this entire video. honestly, when she's not around celina, she does better with paranormal in my opinion. that's not a rag on celina, just an observation i have lol

i will say the only two places that gave me bad vibes was the crypt and the red room. the crypt was pretty weird, and the flashlight literally moving, plus turning on and off like four times while doing so, was very intriguing. and of course it would pick colby. but what i thought was interesting was that, yet again, the audio for him cut out. part of me, again, thinks it might be the camera. i know they have two nightvision cameras, so i wonder if one of them is busted. but then another part of me is like "they've used both before in other videos (literally even the previous one) and it didn't glitch on them that time so… what gives?" but i think my favorite part of the whole video was colby saying "i felt an innocent presence with me". now THAT'S the shit i'm talking about !!! seriously, colby does stuff like that, and it just makes me more excited to see his path going forward with the paranormal.

as for the rest of the video, it was fine. the trigger event this time around didn't feel insulting, so that's nice i guess. and personally, i'm starting to think that little kid spirits just don't exist. nothing they were getting on the spirit box/ovilus was child related. the sls stuff they got was kinda interesting, but also just felt like a glitch to me. but they should pull out that device more often. i think the crystal ball part was a bit… obtuse? like, i get it. they want to do something to open up their psychic abilities, but… maybe read up on it more and not just go out and buy a crystal ball lol and kris standing in that room by herself - props to her. you can just tell she was freaking out and was scared out of her mind. but she remanded decently calm.

bell witch cave: i'm gonna say what everyone else is thinking - this should have been the finale. at least, it feels like a finale type of video to me. nonetheless, i think this was their best investigation by far. i think it was on par with the conjuring which is why it also felt like it should have been the finale. the team they were with - fantastic. love the four of them. i think collectively snc always get the craziest stuff with seth and josh (minus the pine barrens which i think is snc's worst video to date, tied with crescent hotel, but feel free to disagree). also, just noticed this now rewatching it, but when they're in the cabin and snc tell josh and seth that they plan to not use equipment first, josh and seth tell them they call that "quiet-game shit" which... is highkey hilarious for some reason lol so the knocking, while it is pretty scary (and probably scarier in the moment), i always wonder if it's just the old ass houses they are in doing that. it's hard for me to wrap my head around a spirit being so strong enough to kill a man, but not strong enough to appear and speak, but instead resorts to knocks? idk. but regardless, i think them being freaked out is what freaked me out the most. bc you can tell when they're all genuinely scared versus hamming it up for the cameras.

but i have to note, that colby saying "in 2021, when we did queen mary, it almost feels like time didn't even go by at all and we're in like the ship for some reason." ....can someone check on him? please? bc that's a bit concerning. but also i need him to elaborate on that thought. do you mean that time feels a bit frozen to you? or was it just in the queen mary itself? or is it even now? bc all of those questions don't exactly lead to the same conclusions.

them using an actual witch to cleanse themselves.... round of applause for finally doing what we've been telling you for FUCKING YEARS TO DO. the onvoy glitching a bunch was pretty interesting, but i still have some issues with that device. but either way, it was confusing as to why that was happening. the cave itself was very spooky. something about this was way more creepier than even the catacombs they went to last year. something about the energy of that place is off. all of them going in and taking polaroids was actually a pretty interesting idea. and i think the execution was awesome and kinda terrifying. the fact that the camera just wasn't taking pics of colby..... immediate chills for me. also sam being that scared, again, spooks me more just bc of how serious he gets. both of their polaroids were weird as hell. it honestly looks like to me that there's a figure behind colby, but it's hard to tell bc of how warped the pic became. seth and josh hearings voices was freaky too. and you could tell they were legitimately scared by them. but i find it interesting that seth and josh's photos weren't all that weird looking. the final part was a bit all over the place, again - probably bc sam likes to connect everything together in the moment instead of just... letting it happen naturally, but i think the conclusion was overall pretty well.

winchester mystery house: i think a lot of us were kinda going into this video not excited, bc we know the dynamic kris and celina have. i know i wasn't excited about this video, and especially bc it got uploaded so late that it basically was on halloween, so i wanted something scary. conjuring level.

that's not what we got, but i was pleasantly surprised by this video.

but i do gotta talk about the negatives: the medium, the one present with them, was… idk. something about her felt fake. sorry. especially when she honed in on celina and said "oh you see dead ppl" which like…. what a convo starter. also telling her she needs to love herself and see herself the way others do or whatever. that was sweet, i'll give you that. but like, maybe don't include in the video, boys. it's not connected to the investigation so move it along.

the guides this time weren't as annoying as the last time, if i remember correctly. they didn't seem to be trying to get you to believe the place is haunted, just that there have been some strange stuff going on. i will say tho, this house to me has not a single spirit in it. idk what it is, but nothing about this house feels haunted at all. it feels peaceful in a way, but not haunted. also when they talk about the doors that lead to no where or the stairs that do that, all i can think is there was an earthquake there. shit that once existed does not anymore. maybe that's why shit doesn't make sense layout wise. especially the one door that leads to the outside. clearly there used to be a deck there that isn't there now.

i think this time around the empathy that they have for sarah is a really nice change of pace. i don't think last time they were disrespectful, more so that they just believed that hype of the legend of her being a crazy woman.

the numerology, while i know some of you don't believe it, is what (to me) saved this video from being ass. i think regardless of how you feel about it, it's very intriguing to see how the numbers relate to snc. kris and celina's, gonna be honest, i don't know them well enough to really say one way or another. but snc's numbers are the most interesting to me. so sam's being the guide makes perfect sense, i think. would i say he's colby's guide? maybe yes maybe no. i think sam definitely helps colby a lot figure out what he truly wants to do and has directed him down a really good path in life. i think they mesh well together in a lot of ways. and i think sam's more logical/cynical side gets balanced out by colby's more positive/dream-like side. sam said it once before, that his favorite attribute about colby is his smile bc he always just makes everyone else happy and that is 1000% RIGHT. as for colby's number, i mean… is it suprising to anyone? seriously, i recommend you read up on number 11s and see how much really connects with colby bc highkey some are just spot on.

but back to the investigation portion - while i don't know how much i believe in celina's abilities, i do think she definitely feels things regardless. and that in itself kinda proves she has some ability. i think evidence wise, they didn't catch all that much. the voice they heard, them seeing things possibly, celina following who she thought was sarah… it was sort of compelling, sort of meh. again, the thing that stood out to me was the numerology stuff.

and as for them going thru the house on their own, the audio cutting off on colby AGAIN is insane to me. how is that possible??? and sam being fucking terrified for some reason was really strange to me. his spirits were high all night, but the moment he thought he saw something, he was about ready to shit himself. i'm concerned for him and the way he jumps from borderline cold towards the paranormal to scared shitless. he should really work on finding a middle ground and centering himself when he does get scared.

wouldn't you believe it: i'm basically giving the same rating to hell week as i did last year. bc i realized this half-way thru hell week - both seasons of hell week are like any other season of snc. they just give it a better title. bc think about it, take last year's hell week. everyone i've come across has said that last years was so much better. if that's the case, take out the conjuring finale….. is it really better than what we got this year? bc i don't think so. i think both are on par with one another. hell technically, i did the average score for both hell weeks and this one ranked higher, but by like .01 percent. so that's what i mean. both hell weeks are fine. but they aren't spectacular. snc have a better chance of filming a one off scary-ass video than they do planning to film a scary video.

to quote myself from an ask not too long ago: i honestly feel like both hell weeks were average at best. the only reason the first one felt crazy was bc it was first. also, snc hadn’t been doing all paranormal last year. they started 2021 out with 25x25, then stopped bc it wasn’t gaining views, did paranormal for a hot minute, went to chernobyl, and then did hell week. there had been a long enough pause between content, and i think them going back to the conjuring, alone, added to hell week feeling special. but in reality… it was basically the precursor to what they ended up doing this year. it just felt cooler back then.

here are some things that i would love for snc to do in the future, for both hell week and any other seasons they plan to do:

please, for the love of god, stop freaking out so much. take it down even one notch, and i swear the content will be better.

sam, stop talking over every estes method. stop trying to connect everything WHILE it's happening. do that later, or when the estes method is over.

colby, go to a psychic or witch or something and start reading up on your abilities. i NEED you to be more empathic lol

do at least one investigation per season solo. if you want someone with you in the beginning, sure. but go alone, with just the two of you. bc that content is fire regardless of what you get.

use the sls camera more.

if you can find a way to let us hear what the spirit box is saying during an estes method, that would be awesome.

find a way to go back thru videos after you've filmed them and see if things are connected that you didn't realize before.

maybe tone down the hyping up of every video bc then it ends up being a let down when it isn't the best

if you do hell week again, you gotta post the videos from creepiest to scariest bc otherwise it just ends up feeling a bit mish-mashed

there's probably other stuff i could add, but i'll just let them focus on this lol (as if they'll ever see it)

i genuinely enjoyed hell week, and i'm excited to see what the future holds for snc. i don't see them getting worse, so everything can only go up from here.

bc its fall now and im wanting an excuse to talk abt Halloween, RTC HALLOWEEN HCS!!

ive never done one of these before, but there's a first time for everything!

(these are all angst free! its all fun little ideas and stuff based off of my own friends back when we spent Halloween together)

tw : mentions of gore (nothing expicit, the word gore is just used a few times)

- Ocean and Constance HATE being scared. Constance will 100% start crying if she gets scared really bad, while Ocean will just fall on the ground and refuse to get up until the immediate threat is gone (even tho she is completely safe)

- Penny loves Halloween for the sole reason of scaring the absolute shit out of Constance and Ocean. she plans it out WEEKS in advance, and the other two dread it bc Penny can be really scary when she wants to be

- Noel also hates being scared, but he blows it off, despite always flinching whenever he gets scared. one time, Penny hid in a bush and grabbed him by the ankles when he wasn't looking and he screamed so loud that everyone outside just. stopped. and stared at him.

- Mischa, Penny, and Noel all love one thing when it comes to Halloween, and that's gore. We already know Mischa loves gorey movies like Saw, and Penny just has twisted vibes, but Noel has a dark sort of humor that makes it so he can enjoy the more grotesque parts of the holiday, aside from the more family-friendly stuff

- the whole group still goes trick or treating, mainly for Penny and Ricky's sake, but they all have fun

- Ricky makes everyone's costumes, he asks everyone 2 months in advance what they want and then goes HAM

- Penny picks the most obscure things as costumes. she's like "I wanna be a vacuum" and Ricky just goes with it

- Mischa has absolutely gone as Ash from The Evil Dead before. He wore it multiple years in a row and was pretty upset when he outgrew it (bc theyre teenagers and growth spurts happen). otherwise my man is always someone from a horror movie. Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, you pick.

- Constance and Ocean are usually pretty basic with their costumes, typically going as witches, zombies, etc etc.

- Noel is just constantly going as iconic women in queer media/cult classics. Heather Chandler from Heathers (probably the musical version), one of the Sandersons from Hocus Pocus (either Winifred or Sarah), etc. He's fr running out of ideas.

- Ricky is a cat. every single year. but it just gets gradually more realistic until it eventually gets CGI Cats level freaky.

- i feel like its a universal experience for someone to trip and fall while trick or treating every year. do I even need to say it? its Ocean. every year, without fail, Ocean wipes out on Halloween. she's mainly unphased, aside from being slightly scraped up, but now the whole group makes jokes abt when they think she'll fall

- they all have a movie marathon where they each pick one movie and just eat candy and hang out. they usually pick the same movie every year.

- Ricky picks Ghostbusters. I dont need to elaborate.

- Penny picks Corpse Bride. i hc she likes animated movies, and its a classic.

- Noel picks Rocky Horror Picture Show. like, come on. it makes sense.

- Ocean picks Hocus Pocus. it literally isn't scary at all (which is one reason why she picks it) and she believes its the "superior Halloween movie"

- Constance pick Nightmare Before Christmas. its just a fun movie that everyone enjoys, regardless of the "Halloween movie vs Christmas movie" debate that the group has EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. (they watch it for both. it literally doesn't matter)

- Mischa picks Saw V (even tho the movie he describes in rtc is Saw VI). he gets confused EVERY YEAR wondering where certain parts that he remembered are, never realizing he picked the wrong movie. nobody corrects him.

- it always turns into a sleepover, whether they plan on it or not. its either at Mischa's or Constance's, so its not an uncommon thing for there to be at least 1 random teenager in their house at any given time.

im out of ideas, I might make a part 2 eventually but thats it for rn :)

hi i never send asks but i need to tell you how much your art means to me. i remember seeing it years ago when u were drawing ut/dr stuff and i loved it back then, but to come back years later and see youre into ffxiv is like, miraculous. i absolutely ADORE the way u stylize the characters, their stories seem so interesting, and its such a breath of fresh air to me, like straight up inspirational it makes me wanna go ham drawing my guys the way i want bc ive felt so self concious since most fanart i see sticks pretty close to the source. anyways keep doing what ur doing im /cheerjump'ing at you from the distance 💖

NO IM THE SAME WAY REAL getting into FFXIV after being into UT/DR had a long period of like embarassment following it because i wasnt used to being surrounded by artists who stayed pretty on model and like, didn't ''mess'' with the designs of both like specific characters and just general overall character types like m'iqote. Coming from UT/DR where the art style and the general ''theyre monsters'' gave me a lot of leeway to do stuff like anteater dreemmurs and draw frisk in a frilly flower pattern skirt, so coming over to draw ff14 art and never see people even like, give a character a haircut or draw elezen eyes slightly differently made me feel.... not scared, but i felt ambarassed that people wouldnt like my art or not recognize the characters, or find my art incoherent like a few people used to mock me for back in UT/DR days.

I eventually got over it but i still someyimes feel that shame, especially when the art isn't particularly well recieved, mostly with stuff like my butch menphina or how i draw hades, and i begin to wonder if my art would ''do better'' if i stuck closer to the style/design of the FF14 game down to the eye shape and exact clothing patterns

this isnt smthn i think about too often though thankfully, and i feel like a swell of love whenever people do react positively to how i interpret characters into my art :,] ive noticed a few people respond to really liking how i draw Zero even though i never considered her to differ far from her original design, but looking at it side by side i think i sometimes cant tell when im fucking with a design myself until i stare at them next to each other LOL

BUT GO FOR IT!!! there really is nobody stopping you from messing with the designs in the game, FF14 is a million dollar successful MMO ran by one of the biggest gaming companies in the industry so unless yoshida sends a cease and desist directly to our doors there is NOTHING stopping you from taking characters into your own hands and molding them to your liking. Draw Miqote looking even more like cats than people, draw vieras more anthro than humanoid, make your wol part sahagin and give them funny fish gills, give your favorite character a fatter head or a buzz cut, there is an endless possibility as vast as the people in the world are!!!! \o/

How would your character react to one of the canonical protagonists stepping in to protect them? hed probably be amused by it like ooooh looky here, we got a extra special fighter OwO !! he might be annoyed by some specific people though

How does your character react when they see a fight starting in the street? Do they intervene? Cheer on the side? Join in? depends on what hes doing, if hes in a rush or otherwise occupied hed probably be annoyed and try to pass on by. but if one of the fighters piques his interest hed certainly stay and watch if he has nothing better to do.

Does your character fight? Under what circumstances? What sort of fighting style do they use? he doesnt seek out fights so he doesnt get in them that often, but he has legit combat training and a no-nonsense style that’s quite methodical and brutal and he uses like a bowie knife. hes also a gun expert; no good as a sniper bc his vision isn’t great, but he almost always has a handgun on him and hes legit a quickdraw and very good aim at close range.

Could your character win a fight against any of the canonical protagonists? Which one(s)? he might give them a good run for their money if he had his weapons, but he would always always lose in the end. but hes EXCELLENT with cutscene bullets :)

Your character finds themselves snowed in at the mountain village from y5. What do they do? well first off best hope that he doesnt see mr okudera bc that would be a Whole Thing. if theres no one he knows there i guess he might be a bit sulky at first, but could genuinely enjoy the challenges of hunting etc. Although i guess he KNEW this is the village near where sato died so that would be looming over him and might make him a bit depressed.

Would your character sing karaoke? If they had to sing one of the canonical karaoke songs, which would they choose? hmmmm i think he would sing as long as he isnt in a bad mood. as for the song, idk i could see him doing a mean rendition of baka mitai ?? he WOULDNT be sincere with it though, hed like be smiling the whole time and just kinda ham it up.

Would your character be good at disco dancing? yes. hes definitely a good dancer, maybe not a pro at disco specifically but hed definitely be good.

ANYWAYS im not gonna talk abt te canonical stuff i barely remember it i need 2 refreshen my brain abt it but ill give. u a quick reminder of how i visualize/characterize Dum dum mostly but ill also give some royce stuff and then ill just go ham w some headcanons abt their basic life.

2 me as like, one of the CHillest maelstrom, which, isnt saying a lot, but 2 me (maybe as an adhd person who experiences the same and mayyy be reflecting a bit teehee) hes someone whos experiencing some level of understimulation who gets over it w extremity.

I usually imagine ngl that its caused by being so overstimulated by an extreme enviroment for his whole life (i mean. night city yk?) that he needs constant punching to get through life. this makes for a vERY hollow feeling life for him but 2 me.

Royces chaos kinda enhances it for him 2 some kinda point of like. purpose? Almost? which is why he seems 2 have at least. like some mild genuine respect & dedication to him. yipee yk.

Royce is just batshit and he loves his music and is the exact opposite he seems 2 be full of energy and so on. Royce is hyped Dum dum is exhausted but seeking smth that feels real and alive and exeptional.

bc of that i kinda like to think that they r both. unwell sleepers if that makes sense? Dont sleep enough. Royce sleeps naturally very little and dum dum keeps up w him. We doo see dum dum usually just hanging about, lounging, I can totally imagine him taking mininaps constantly, eyes flickering from time to time, head nodding. Snapping 2 awakenness suddenly when Royce starts speaking again.

ive looked at some rotations of dum dums model and some of his bodymods are DEFINETLY more just aesthetic than functional.. at LEAST his upper lip rings. Those r trditional piercings. Probably also is chin metal n much of the stuff around his mouth. Again im not technically adept and Idk what the designers were going for, but I'd love to think that also the cored part around his neck, where they've just taken a part around his spine and replaced it w a dent of metal, is fully appearences, just bc its so extreme and interesting. He likes his bodymods he enjoys the process!!!! Perhaps he even enjoys the care that goes into them, bodymods that heavy must require a lot of care.

I dont. think he has tattoos in his final design right? og dumdum had the tats? Though i do love to think that he got tattoos when he was younger but most of them have just gone through being torn apart by his later bodymodifications. Maybe he has some shitty stick & pokes somewhere thatd be cute. bonding w the boys.

he mentions he likes classic rock music- tbh i kinda love 2 imagine that hed also enjoy old movies/shows? classics enjoyer. i knoww they have like those brainfilms n shit but its rly hard for me to imagine film going out of style fully, just like books havent fully gone out of style bc movies exist. i dont remember if movies r much mentioned in the game though. Secretly dumdums a lil interested in philosophy. He kinda dismisses stuff like that but he does have a secret admiration for the world and thoughts. This comes out particularly bc Royce has some weird ideas.

I think he must be running warm most of the time.... My friend asked me if i think his metal parts get cold enough for your tongue to get stuck and yeah thatd be funny he prolly hates cold weather and needs 2 wear a balaklava when its wintery outside so his metal parts dont freeze his face.

Has a lot of CASUAL friends in the maelstrom but it never gets fully to the level of found family/genuine friends. Yes they have a lot in common, yes he spends all his time w them, but it often feels surface level to him, and "unreal". Hes found a more profound connection in Royce, but i feel like his admiration is a little one sided, and that he realizes it? But is like. whatever this is still nice.

dehydrated, forgets to eat and eats like shit when he does eat. Loves carbs and sugars. Possibly caues some of his exhaustion.

He kinda plays up his emotional outbursts!!!! He isnt that angry. He does it to assert dominance in a very outbursty enviroment. If he was in a chiller enviroment you could actually mess w him quite a lot and hed just laugh and mess back w you.

Dum dum prolly drives some kinda rly shitty van most of the time, just bc hes usually hanging out w so many people. Big driver in general!!! 30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

cheesy. but more than anything i think i've come to know myself as a fiction writer this year. ive always written fiction in bits and pieces, and ive done a shit ton of professional nonfiction writing. writing snowbaz last year felt good in that i was finally writing regularly, but switching fandoms upped my confidence because thats when i could finally prove to myself that i wasn't just copying rainbow rowell hahaha. WHICH LIKE she definitely continues to influence my writing but i think ive developed my style in a way where its more my own now -- i don't lean on the style of aftg the way i did for simon snow fics. and while andrew is undeniably NOT my character, ive done a lot of work around the way i write his POV that im proud of. and this makes me think that if i wanted to write original stories i could... even tho i havent rly come up with a story i want to tell on my own just yet!

ANYWAY. I really really love canary-and-coal-miner team rancher art, right? And i love birds, and strip mining in minecraft, so i thought. Well! What if i came up with a funny little au where tango is a coal miner and jimmy is his little canary buddy?

Of course, actual coal mining is very scary, and i only write funny goofy things, so this is Mined Craft™️ coal mining. Anyway, tango takes up a job working for some unnamed mining company working under TFC, since i love his mining videos

I havent decided which other hermits to include yet? Im def including grian, joel, and lizzy, since theyre often featured in jimmy’s non-minecraft videos. I dont want to include too many and risk bogging down the story bc i get too caught up in writing accurate voices for everyone, but i might also write in some cameos of bdubs and etho or something. I want to include scott but im afraid i wont be able to properly balance a characterization of him hamming up on the “why yes my ex husband DID disappear under mysterious circumstances and i got most of his items. Why do you ask :)” facade while also deep down being quite sad and upset about jimmy just vanishing off the face of the earth. And then if i DID balance it properly im afraid it would come off more angsty than intended

ANYWAY. Uh. I dont know much lore about hermitcraft bc im still catching up on the lore-heavy videos (i like to just listen to people build/design things while i strip mine in my own world), but i’m thinking there’s enough wacky magic hijinks that i could justify my idea

My idea being that jimmy actually wasnt ALWAYS a canary, he wound up getting turned into one due to [redacted] (bc i havent come up with that part yet and am not particularly pressed to do so). Jimmy used to be a canary hybrid but now he’s full canary - still the same on the inside, but now he’s a tiny bird that loves to cause problems

None of his friends know this happened to him, or else they would have been working hard to get him back to normal. Instead, grian notices two things about this particular canary: he’s way more belligerent and vocal than the other canaries, hardly acting like a prey animal at all, and he seems to be prone to winding up in the parts of the mine that get gas leaks. He’s actually starting to get concerned that this poor little bastard bird has brain damage at this point and thats why hes Like That

So, anyway, grian and the others start calling this canary Timmy, bc it kind of reminds them of their missing friend who was also a canary hybrid and a little shit with terrible luck. They tend to keep timmy on the sidelines bc theyre worried hes been through too much and dont want him passing out anymore

Then, along comes tango! Tango, a blazeborn, is of course a major safety risk inside of a mine where gas leaks and combustibles are common. they trust him well enough to be careful and not blow himself up, but they also cant send him down the usual mineshafts, so they have him working mostly near the deepest parts of the cave, away from the coal veins and closer to the lava pits that he can withstand easier, so he winds up mining alone for the most part

And they think, hey, this is perfect! Now we have someone we can send timmy with so that he’s not cooped up all day. So tango winds up spending several hours a day just exploring deep caves and talking to himself, hanging out with this weird little bird that grian and joel love to bully

Anyway, long story short, this is me indulging in my own personal love of tiny animals and basically writing about tango going “ive had timmy for one day but if anything happened to him i’d blow this place up with myself in it”. Its just dumb little fluffy stuff like jimmy and tango doing back and forth whistle calls (jimmy of course being safely tucked away in an oxygen chamber the whole time), tango absolutely decking his room out with lots of perches and things bc he noticed jimmy hates cages, and tango spending his free time walking around with a bird nestled in his hair

Mostly this is just snapshot scenes in my head, stuff like grian explaining to tango how timmy got his name and what not. But yea this has been taking over my brain for weeks now!!!! Please help me i still need to finish my other wips!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite Hellweek video so far was def the one with Michelle, simply because she is one of my fav youtubers to watch. Literally, she is such an inspiration with what she does, I kinda wish SnC will collab on her channel do so some other challenges. (everyone should check out her channel it's really good) Even though she was scared in the video with SnC, I didn't mind her being jumpy because honestly she reacted like I would react in that situation lmao. It felt more genuine than how the other girls react sometimes.

I guess this time Hellweek feels a bit off because I think SnC are burnt out from doing spooky stuff. This is, I think, the longest period they did without changing their content and it starts to feel a bit reduntant. Like after a while you should get used to certain things happening but they still scream their heads off when one of their devices goes off. Their reactions are too much for someone who does this now for over a year. I also don't like the humour they have in certain videos, I don't mind them cracking jokes from time to time but sometimes it's too much. One of the reasons I don't vibe with Ghost Files (new Ryan and Shane show on Watcher) so much, it's entertaining but when they start to insult the ghosts it's just not my thing. I loved their buzzfeed unsolved true crime way more than the supernatural stuff.

I also think SnC start to compensate with over editing their stuff, like doing essentially the same video every other day they propably think we will get bored, so they want to make it scarier by adding a bunch of unnecessary pics and videos which is kinda annoying. Idk SnC are people who never stuck long with just one thing, they always did other stuff, and now they don't have their personal channels anymore because they are stuck with the main channel. I think maybe they need a creative break from it. Last year's Hellweek was great because it was new but after an entire year of only doing essentially Hellweeks every other month I get it that it can get tiring. And now they kinda positioned themselves as youtube's ghosthunters it's hard to do anything else. (but that is just my opinion)

there's really only been like two that i thought were kinda lame or borderline not that good at all, and that was mississippi mansion and myrtles plantation. and i would say the best one was the bell witch cave. the one with michelle is tied with first place to me as well, or at least one of the higher up ones. i think she was a good addition to the video and her reactions were on par with basically any other guest. i don't think she overreacted or underreacted comparatively to the other girls they've had on there.

i don't know if it's burnout, but if i may be so bold to say this: i don't actually think hell week this year is any crazier than last year's. i think they're both on the same level, the difference is the conjuring finale vs what we all kind of assume will be a not so crazy ending with the winchester mansion. i haven't finished or even started my full review of hell week, and i do want to compare it to last year's, but i honestly feel like both are basically the same, the difference is that last year's was so new to us that it was exciting, and this year it doesn't feel that way bc of the constant content they have been giving us.

if anything, i think some of us are burned out from snc and the way they do paranormal investigating. i think that's why if they continue to do hell week, they need to up the ante or do something that they don't do usually for other series or seasons. bc otherwise, what exactly separates hell week from season one or two? nothing really. it's the same ppl, for the most part, going to similar locations like before.

i will say, idk why they started hamming up the jokes a bit this time around, but it's not working in their favor in my book. besides the fact that every place they go to they're getting told to gtfo, i think it's also really weird that they would do "reenactments" and shit like that. but then on top of that, try to make it funny. it's not even a disrespectful thing (even tho it is) it's also just… not funny. and feels very out of place. i love snc and i love their humor for the most part, and i wouldn't want them to start changing that, but this…. was a no bueno type of deal for me.

and i think their reactions are fine bc realistically they're going to these new places they've never been before and they don't know if they're gonna get evidence so i can only imagine it does freak them out regardless when they do get it. plus, it would be very jarring if they all of sudden just stop having reactions to things bc they've grown used to it. they could calm down a bit tho lol

and like i mentioned in another ask, i feel like they wanted to try out new stuff bc it's hell week, which is fine if you're not in a time crunch. but clearly they are and were. so it's a bit weird to me to pull out all the stops when you don't have the time to fully deliver it.

i plan to make a list with my hell week review of things i would love for them to start implementing or doing next year with whatever content they do come out with. god knows they won't see it, but it's nice to know that i'm just putting my thoughts out there. but one of the major things i would love for them to do is to honestly a) find time for themselves to just… not work and b) start back up the personal channels. bc i think that's where they got to get a lot of creativity out that they don't get to do on the main channel.
