hi i wanted to rewrite the butterscotch cinnamon pie recipe i borrowed as of this post now that I’ve made it maybe 5-6 times and have messed with variables and made things easier for myself, though maybe it’s more convoluted to read
I’ve made my own pastry crust a few times but none of them were to my liking. graham cracker crusts forever ok.
in a medium saucepan:
-1 cup brown sugar
-1/4 cup water
bring to a boil, stirring. once thick and bubbling, turn off heat
in a bowl or maybe a measuring cup:
-5 tblsp heavy cream
-2 tblsp butter
-1 3/4 cups milk
RESERVE 6 TBLSP OF THE MILK/CREAM, but go ahead and put the rest into the saucepan and mix
in a second bowl, mix:
-6 tblsp of that milk/cream that I told you to reserve you reserved it right
-2 egg yolks
-1/2 tsp salt
-4 tblsp cornstarch (i recommend putting the cornstarch in last, so you can immediately start mixing it and it doesn’t become a Brick in the bottom of the bowl/measuring cup)
continue whisking this cornstarch mixture and ladle in maybe 3-4 ladle-fulls of the saucepan mixture to temper the eggs. Then pour it into the saucepan mixture. turn the heat back on, to med-high, stirring constantly until thickened (and i Mean constantly, bc it will just very suddenly turn thick) maybe 2 minutes
add and mix in:
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
maybe make some whip cream to put on top when you’re ready to eat it but honestly it’s fine without it

LEONA KINGSCHOLAR
your dish is…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
COFFEE CAKE !!
♫ APHRODITE - RINI
- you’ve served leona this once bc he was having a bad day and now he demands to make it again with him present. him? oh no, he’s not helping. he’ll watch you. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ - leona has no cooking experience whatsoever, never touched a pot or pan in his life but you insist he helps you just a little bit for your aesthetics. he’s staring, hard, in confusion when you hand him a whisk and tell him to combine the eggs, oil, vanilla, and milk together. after a few seconds of staring at each other, you had to stifle a laugh, he looked so awkward…
- you would stand between him and the counter, guiding his hands to mix the ingredients. he was strangely enjoying this, it was domestic, romantic. mushy. but you looked so happy and your eyes sparkled with joy :(<3. also refuses to put the cake in the oven if you don’t agree to at least lay down with him while he naps. you can do whatever you want to do as long as you’re laying down. will never get over the first time you gave him coffee cake and he was weirdly energetic, was it the amount of sugar? you’ll never know.
- the one time he decides to send a letter home is to talk about the absolutely free cooking lessons he’s getting from a little herb’ he managed to rub off on. not that you’re dating him or anything, your just a lil’ herb that gives him kisses. sleeping in the same bed? banish the thought. actually, he’s made an extra coffee cake every time he makes them with you, extra sugar. when you ask, leona claims its nothing, simply made too much batter. he’s actually giving them to cheka, saying that its from you, no hesitation in giving his s/o credit in their amazing cooking.
- once leona improves in making his favorite dessert with you, his tail has a little content sway as he whisks everything together. will never let you mix anything now, he takes it before you can even try. the kitchen is always trashed while you both cook because it somehow turns into a war. both of you covered head to toe in flour and brown sugar. he’s definitely gotten more confident and languid in his cooking skills in such a short time period, you’re so proud :’)
“herbivore, you forgot the vanilla.”
“did you memorize the recipe, leo?”
“no. don’t forget the salt ‘nd i already set out the half cup of milk for you.”
JACK HOWL
your dish is…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BROWNED BUTTER PEAR CRISP !!
♫ BLOSSOM - T. SHAN
- jack has, many times, had to cook for his energetic little siblings so he’s pretty experienced in the kitchen. once he saw you happily feeding his siblings and he almost fainted, baby fever was through the roof. now he frequently cooks with you, with his siblings around most of the time. that day he got to see you in such a different light he needed to see it again even if that means hearing childish ewie’s in the background when he kisses you. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ - he was already head over heels when you started bring him sliced pears while he works out so why not try cooking with you and seeing how you do certain things compared to him. jack most likely takes inspiration from making this snack with you.
- literally loves how you would see if his siblings approve of the dish before actually giving it to him like he wasn’t gonna love it anyway.
- he’s such a gentleman in the kitchen, taking over when you get tired, making sure you don’t burn or injure yourself, down to cleaning your hands when you get oatmeal on them :(. sometimes he would have trouble on the measurements of certain ingredients so you have to help him with that. his favorite part is topping his plate with the ice cream, may not be very healthy but manne who cares? he’s spending time with you <3
“hey, baby? how much brown sugar do i add to this?”
“a cup, jackie”
“i knew that then, i just hesitated…”
RUGGIE BUCCHI
your dish is…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S’MORE DONUT SANDWICH !!
♫ THAT I MISS YOU - VANSIRE
- ruggie is completely obvious when it comes to cooking. watched his grandma cook, like, once. willingly lets you teach him though, long as you get to hold his hands, you must thoroughly help him. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ - genuinely surprised when you came up to him with a glorious plate of donuts. what are these for? free food? why? his birthday’s in april, its may🤨. you can literally see the cogs in his brain turning as his gaze flickers between you and the donuts. INSISTS you feed him a bite, and UGHH KISS THE CHEF. the most delicious thing he’s had in the past four months besides rlly good dandelion seeds, dare he say your donuts are slightly better than his gammy-gam’s😧😧.
- sly little bastard most definitely flirts with you n gets you all embarrassed so he can dip his finger in the bowl of the melted chocolate. he’s so patient though! you literally just stare at him focusing, does the little thing where his tongue sticks out from his mouth in concentration <3 the recipe doesnt call for whipped cream, but he loves whipped cream. please make little hearts on top of his donuts with whipped cream :(
- the type to absolutely become the most feral in the kitchen, energy, life, laughter, the fun never stops. he has the biggest potty mouth (twin) does not hold back. even when hes pouring the chocolate on the donut and the tiniest drop gets on the counter, its just “shit >:[“ he does stupid things and also learns new things from you everyday.
- this one time, you showed him that if you warm up a jumbo marshmallow, you could eat about three times more than the original size and he was like :O!! never eats marshmallows the same anymore. ruggie puts like four on a plate, they grow so big it sticks to the top of the microwave. still eats it though, tops it like it was a big gourmet meal, a win is a win‼️ fiwb!!!!😭😭
“no fuckin’ shot marshmallows grow in the microwave, they ain’t plants.”
“uh-huh! look at it!”
“HUUUH???”

BakuSquad Cooking Mishaps
Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugo
In Bakugos words, it was less of a mishap and more of an experiment. Which in reality it was him trying to make really spicy chicken
Bakugo’s “Super Spice” was a combination of a shit load of spicy stuff, put it all in the blender…. The blender blew up
Safe to say Aizawa forbid him from cooking in the kitchen for a long while, he also had to clean the kitchen for 2 weeks, mainly bc that’s how long it took to get all the spice mixture out of some crevasses
Bakugo did demand thank you’s from all the sick students bc the smell cleared their sinuses
Ejiro Kirishima
Kirishima was taking cooking classes as he told Bakugo that he’d be the cook while he was doing his work study
While cooking spaghetti for the class he put the pot on the stove and threw the spaghetti in
He was half way through making the sauce when he and the others started smelling something burning
He opened the oven expecting it to be the garlic bread he threw in a few minutes ago, to checking everything before finally looking at the pot and seeing that he put no water in the pot and the spaghetti noodles started to burn away
From the on Bakugo started making the food earlier if he had something to do at his work study
Denki Kaminari
Denki was baking with Sato, having fun learning to bake shit and doing his own thing
Sato had to run out of the kitchen to go to the store to grab some vanilla extract which left Denki in the kitchen…alone
Denki put everything that he needed into the bowl, doing very well, he chopped up the fruits on the cutting board…oven beeped letting everyone around, know that it was pre heated.
Denki threw the fruits in and continued mixing the cake batter, adding in some sprinkles and other candies to make it known that he was the one who made it
Sato gets back and runs into the kitchen and sees Denki searching frantically for the fruit he had chopped up.
“Hey Sato! I made the cake batter just can’t find the fruit” Sato let him search alone, figuring he must’ve ate them and was coming up with an excuse when he seen that the oven was fully pre heated
“Kaminari, did you put anything’s into the oven?” Denki turned around and looked at the oven and his eyes widened
The inside of the oven was on fire and the cutting board was melted.
Mina Ashido
He and the girls were making cupcakes for everyone, having the time of their lives, playing music and eating frosting
Everyone had a job, Mina’s was making the batter. She was on a roll, making a whole batch worth of batter in minutes
She had everything she needed next to her little work station, the other girls doing there stuff.
The flour next to the sugar, the salt in between them, the eggs next to the milk, the vanilla extract next to the butter. The whisk sitting comfortably in the bowl the counter having some batter from Mina getting a little too rowdy
She added everything she need, the flour, the small amount of salt that was need the 2-3 eggs, the milk and vanilla extract.
She passed the batter off to Tsu who put them in the tin and passed them off to Uraraka who put them in the oven.
After Uraraka took them out and passed them to Yayorozou who took them out of the tin and put the wrappings on it and passed it off to Jiro who frosted them and gave them to Hagakure who decorated them and put them off a plate.
Oncethey finished they all took one and unlucky for most of them they got the saltiest cupcake ever. Mina mixed up the sugar with salt and had to taste all the cupcakes and make whole new batches.
Hanta Sero
He was casually making himself grilled cheese for lunch, got a can of tomato soup out to because why the hell not.
He started cooking the soup as he buttered the pan for the grilled cheese. He’s got the bread and cheese out.
He’s confident, ready to get his food and go back to his room to watch marvel movies. He placed the knife down on the edge of the pan as he threw down the bread on the pan along with the cheese and last piece of bread.
Sero’s grabbing a spatula to flip the grill cheese then the smell of burning plastic hit him. Confused he started looking around. Then his eyes landed on it
Sero wasn’t even high yet, he planned to be during his marvel movie marathon but right now he was fine and yet he stilled used a plastic knife and left it on the hot pan under his grilled cheese
He had to scrap the melted plastic off the pan and make a whole new grilled cheese and had to eat it with lukewarm tomato soup

@wanderingbasilisk replied to your post “my totally biased opinion is that the black moss...”:
...do you perchance have that recipe, and would be willing to share it? 👀
I do (thanks past me for never deleting my texts), and have asked permission to share, and it has been granted.
2 c flour (all purpose)
1 c sugar (white granulated)
1 stick (8 tbsp) butter
3 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 c cocoa powder
1 tbsp heavy cream
1 c beet juice
matcha powder (straight matcha powder - not sweetened matcha latte powder) and turmeric to taste; I believe the recommendations were 1 tbsp matcha and 2 tbsp turmeric.
The recommendation was to do a matcha creme patissiere for frosting but for some reason creme patissiere consistently eludes me so I'd do a matcha-flavored, light on the sweetening version of your go-to cupcake frosting. I think I did a not-very-sweet whipped cream, honestly. The recipe he recommended, if you are a better pastry chef than I and wish to try, is this one (matcha pastry cream only although if you feel like making pate a choux as well, I support this endeavor)
Edited: realized I did uh. not provide any details on the making thereof bc they were not in the screenshots. basically, standard cupcake rules:
Cream together butter and sugar
Beat in eggs
Add the dry ingredients, mixed together, a little at a time; alternate with the remaining wet ingredients (ie, the beet juice and cream). Essentially, find and follow a normal butter-based chocolate cupcake recipe except put matcha and turmeric in with the flour and sub in beet juice and cream for the milk/buttermilk.
Bake at 350 F (180 C) for 20-ish minutes, do the toothpick test as needed.
Notes:
You do want straight up beet juice that isn't mixed with various other fruits, and this can be a pain in the ass to find. I don't have a solution here, just a heads up.
Once you have used a cup of beet juice, you will have a bunch of beet juice left over. You can either use this to make even more cupcakes, or you can make a very lazy borscht (which is what I did) or you can just drink it. I don't know your life.
You can leave out the heavy cream and swap butter for margarine if you are dairy free, which my brother and his friend did test, but egg-free versions were not tested so if you are vegan/have an egg allergy you'll need to play around with your go-to substitutes.
Similarly, should play well with your go to gluten-free all purpose baking flour.
Recipe was developed prior to Jester's Isharnai cupcake scene (hilariously, in looking back through my texts, I received the recipe the Friday after that episode aired) so no guarantees on efficacy re: hag distraction

cake. cheesecake, black forest, devilfood cake, or even just vanilla. cake with cream cheese icing or the most frothy icing or just a looooot of icing and maybe chocolate chips in either the icing or the cake batter or both. the buttery-est popcorn to the point it leaves a film on your fingertips - it's either gonna get you fat or harden your arteries. potato chips. bread is allegedly fattening, so bread with whatever the fuck tickles your fancy onnit, or even just sleeves of whatever crackers sound the best - saltines, cheese, rice, seaweed, whateverrr, crackers are just little hard breads. i recommend trying different kinds of breads too - pumpernickel is good imo and pairs well with sweet toppings and meats, hardbread is good for gnawing on if you just eat it out of the package and a wonderful thing if you have an oral fixation lmao. pasta is always good for carbs, especially with chicken and alfredo sauce, and i've been warned about rice before for "being starchy, it's going to make you fat" but it fully depends on what you put in it, if you don't add anything fatty... you aren't going to get much bigger. loaded baked potatoes. mashed potatoes dripping with butter, like, i only started really losing weight when i stopped buying potatoes and fries, and i didn't even load them up with butter or grease, so there's gotta be something there. if nothing else a nice warm potato with some butter or taters seasoned with whatever or even scalloped potatoes dripping with buttery milk and onions 🥺 or even a donaire plate (fries, ground beef, tomato, cheese, and donaire sauce (milk, sugar, vinegar to taste)) or a shepherd's pie (ground beef, vegetables under a later of mashed potato covered with cream of mushroom soup or cheese or whatever sounds good and is in reach - tomato soup would probably be niiiice) or the canadian specialty, poutine (fries, gravy, and a loooot of cheese) or hell the old timey classic of meatballs and gravy and french fries
it also helps to get high if you can get some weed. i've been nauseas and blughy but high at the same time and the munchies persisted for better or worse
sorry for the wall of text lmao
Cake- enjoy but hurts a lot
Popcorn- thank you this one is perfect
Potato chips- on it boss
Bread- have been eating it, will probably try to get my friend to bring me a loaf next time they come bc am poor
Pasta- painful to eat, especially in the amounts that I assume would help me gain weight
Potatoes- fucking love em. Been eating them and hopefully can eat enough to not weigh as much as a middle schooler 😭. Baked potatoes with butter and cheese are good as fuck.
Other stuff- food items with stuff I can't or won't eat in the ingredients but may try modified versions
Weed- have a lot more than I need and haven't lit up in a good while, hoping to start smoking regularly both for food reasons and to minimize the dreams I remember because they're getting bad again. Not sure if I can afford to maintain a daily habit so maybe like every 3 or 4 days, sometimes every 2.

Try this one on for size, assuming they could eat and drink human food. What food/drink would be their favorite and least favorite? Talking about the bots of course but feel free to include the humans too (canon and your ocs if you want!)
Ooh, this one is fun, and I went nuts with it. Reference to this post about McDonald's Sprite.
It's really long, so below the cut.
Autobots (Just doing them bc I was thinking about them. If anyone wants Cons, please send an ask and I will do them)
I think Optimus has a buck wild sweet tooth and would especially like chocolates flavored things (pastries with the tea he's constantly drinking, naturally.) He would also hate cold meat, even if it was meant to be eaten cold.
Ratchet would prefer bottled juices and smoothies because they have that Super Smooth Texture, and he has all the sensory issues (hashtag projection.) He will willingly eat other foods but won't be too chuffed about it.
Arcee probably loves chili and is one of the team's spicy people. She doesn't strike me as especially picky. She'll eat anything she can get her hands on, but she's not a fan of cottage cheese. If there's an alternative, she'd prefer that, thank you.
Bumblebee probably likes softer foods because of how messed up his throat might be. Applesauce, yogurt, ice cream, things like that. Anything especially sour, salty, or spicy is a turn-off, but he actually really likes bitter things.
Bulkhead is a pot roast guy. I don't make the rules. He'd also really like barbecued foods because of the charred taste. He doesn't strike me as a guy that likes tomato-based pasta sauces, though. Pesto is clearly the superior one.
Wheeljack eats the spiciest things he can get his hands on and looks the devil in the eye while he does it. He hates coffee served any other way than black or two creams and two sugars. How he has not wrecked his digestive tract is beyond everyone.
Smokescreen likes buttered rice and chicken with barbeque sauce. He will eat a vegetable if you demand it, but he'd prefer not to. He doesn't like soda but has a Monster Energy can collection.
Ultra Magnus is a sandwich and steamed buns guy. Anything he can easily hold with one hand while he's going over documents. This being said, he's not a huge fan of milk in his cereal (or milk, period.) He'll eat it dry, thanks.
Humans
Raf likes soups of all kinds. Even better if they don't have any chunks of meat or vegetables so he can sip it from a mug while he's working. He's still a relatively young kid, so some foods are still way too bitter for him, like radishes and Brussels sprouts.
Miko loves crunchy foods. Chips, crackers, that kind of thing. She probably prefers golden curry when she's feeling homesick. She hates peanut butter because it tastes funny to her and gets stuck in her mouth.
Jack actually does like tofu, especially with broccoli and garlic. He's the kind of person who looks for a lot of textural variety in what he eats. He's sick and tired of KO burgers, but he doesn't turn it down if he's offered free meals as a work perk.
Fowler really likes stews with bread, which works out for him because most stews are very crock-pot friendly, so he does not have to cook after a long day of dealing with the bots' bullshit and putting out fires. He hates sour gummy worms. He bought them once on accident and was so disappointed.
June absolutely puts potato chips in her sandwiches at lunch and drinks iced coffee every morning. She's not strictly a vegetarian, but as she gets older, she finds herself eating less and less meat. She REALLY does not like eggs.
Bonus: OCs
Stormy really likes a hot bowl of rice and beans or cooked vegetables. They are also team "not technically a vegetarian but doesn't eat a lot of meat." They refuse to drink coffee unless it's grossly oversweetened.
Olivia loves making and eating pierogi (her favorite fillings are potato and cheese or cabbage and mushroom, depending on her mood.) She hates cranberry juice and hard-boiled eggs, don't even try it with her.
Carbon Copy would really like fish and rice. Just like a hot piece of cooked salmon flaked and mixed up with rice. They would also hate yogurt, especially ones with weird flavors like cotton candy.
Urgency would be obsessed with pineapple and ham pizza and salted watermelon, much to the potential dismay of people around her. However, she would hate watermelon juice and watermelon-flavored candies.
Horseradish would gnaw on Milkbones because they Taste, but her favorite food would be bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches. She would try horseradish because it's her namesake, and HATE it.

may you please share the onion gravy recipe? I've never tried gravy and that sounded really good!! :0
Okay so I was def Winging It pretty hard-core when I made it cuz which I have a bad habit of doing since I've been cooking for so long I can kinda just do whatever and have it work out, but I can break down more or less what I did! Also I'm terrible at explaining things so I don't know if this will be helpful but I hope it is??
Oh also ingredients people make lists of those okay
one small-medium onion(I think yellow is better but I used white)
like half a stick of butter bcs I'm worse than julia child but you can sub for olive oil or idk bacon grease if you're really feeling it, just some kind of fat so the onions don't stick too much
like two tbs of flour or one or corn starch
I think 16oz of beef broth all together? Might be more or less, I bought the store brand 32oz container and there was around half left
salt and pepper
garlic...or just garlic powder and/or garlic salt
maybe a tiny pinch of brown sugar if you want and/or some other seasonings idk that is up to you onion
So I peeled and chopped up the onion(very badly cuz I suck at that) and threw it in a little sauce pan with some butter and salt and then spent like...ough 45 minutes caramelizing it?? which DOES undermine my point about food being easy but it's not complicated it just takes a while and it's very worth it(and you can also caramelize a lot of onion when you do have time and freeze it for use later) just keep it on low heat and make sure to stir them every few minutes so they don't burn and add more butter or olive oil if they are burning really fast or are sticking too much. You can also add a lil pinch of brown sugar to help the cramelizing but I didn't. Up to you!
Anyway once they were done I added beef broth in like really small amounts like half a cup at a time, made sure to scrape up all the good bits in the pan as I stirred it in, and let it cook down before adding the next one to really Consentrate The Flavor, and after doing that twice I added another like cup or so of beef broth and let it simmer for a while until it looked like more or less the right amount. Then I added seasonings, I think salt, pepper, and garlic salt and maybe a little garlic powder? You don't need much tho so taste it as you go. Also looking back I don't think I used real garlic so idk when you'd add it, probably before the broth when the onions are done, and just stir until it smells good idk.
You can use flour for the next step, just like mix a tablespoon or less in and let it cook and thicken on medium heat and if it's not thick enough you can do it again, but I used corn starch cuz I was out of flour and that was like a tablespoon? And I took some of the broth out and put it in another cup and mixed it with the cornstarch until there weren't lumps and THEN mixed it into the main pot(that's just a corn starch thing tho that stuff is a bitch flour is way easier) and then let it cook a bit like on medium until it was thick.
Then I added a little bit of cream cuz I'm a fancy bitch but milk or half and half works, just watch it cuz that's ofc gonna water it down a little, so you don't need much. (You have more wiggle room with cream cuz it's already thicc, a little less with half and half, and less than that with milk so keep that in mind.)
And that's it! It was really fucking good, kinda like you made french onion soup into gravy?? Idk it was better than the meatloaf that's for sure and it keeps in the fridge for a couple of days so that's good! Hope this was helpful and sorry I'm terrible at explaining things lmao but yeah that was the process!

Nice!
What other kinds of food do the tribes make?
haha, admittedly, i'm not well versed in any of the foods across all the tribes. frybread is just a bit of a special case in that it's something we all tend to share. the foods from east coast tribes, to west coast tribes, to the tribes in the plains, and even tribes from different parts of alaska all vary so much.
one thing i know that links most coastal tribes is fish, salmon in particular. east and west coast! (though in my opinion, pacific salmon is a million times better than atlantic salmon-- atlantic salmon tends to be way more fishy than pacific haha)
but then there's differences even within tribes depending on if you grew up on the reservation or in a village, or outside one. my family is all "city natives". my uncle who grew up in the village loves to give the family grief for being city natives, even though the city in question was sitka, alaska and like........it's not a City-city lmao
the only tribe i'm comfortable saying anything regarding food is my own, and even then, only more "modern" methods from my family specifically. if i were to ask my family to give my friend a "tlingit meal experience" it would absolutely include fresh (or only recently frozen) salmon and halibut. the salmon itself would depend on whatever is running, pinks, kings (chinook), coho (silvers), or sockeye. I personally don't have a preference, but my family insists king salmon is the best. the salmon would be grilled, and the halibut baked. if they thought i was trying to "impress" my friend, they would probably even serve halibut cheeks (the best cut off of the fish, and the most expensive cut). if the family was lucky with the crab pots, probably some king crab or snow crab depending on the season. herring eggs, which is one of my absolute favorites but ONLY when it's hot and fresh. the second they start cooling down they're disgusting lol. it's hard to describe the flavor, since the eggs are harvested by putting hemlock branches in the water for them to lay the eggs on, then boiled and like. doused in butter. it's a very mild fish and herb taste, and the texture is pretty fun. moose meat of some kind. usually my family does moose burgers, but sometimes moose sausages. reindeer sausages are usually made with breakfast, but i don't really care for them since my uncle always overcooks them and they're dry. rice with all of it. probably dried seaweed, too, but that one it always hit or miss for me. idk what it is about the different places my aunties harvest it from, but sometimes it's super fishy and strong, and other times it's nice and i enjoy it. and then berries. Salmonberries and blueberries, usually. Salmonberries are a type of wild raspberry. i love picking them in the summer, the family usually makes a whole day of it. in the summers we have them fresh in a bowl with sugar and evaporated milk, or on top of salads. most of it goes to making salmonberry jam, though. super sweet and one of my favorites. if the berries are frozen, they'll make this...jell-o salad? it's like, raspberry and cherry jell-o, and a few other things. i'm. not sure. i've only eaten it, never made it lmao. my REAL favorite is when my auntie makes a cheesecake that's topped with a salmonberry reduction. the blueberries are so interesting bc like...store-bought blueberries just do not taste the same. wild blueberries taste so much better. we usually just make them into jam, or have them fresh on salads.....or my aunties torment me by making blueberry pancakes (which is a post for a different day lmaO)
other foods that i know i've seen during different potlatchs would be fish stew, fish head stew, fish heads, (we don't waste any part of the animals we consume lol--like basically every tribe, we value being stewards of the land. we never owned the land, we belonged to the land) seal, seal oil, clams, oysters, a million different ways to prepare kelp, and just about a million different ways to prepare any of the meats i mentioned, along with plenty of other things that are maybe more family specific haha

my french toast recipe
whisk together one egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2tsp cinnamon, pinch salt
(i get 3 sandwich sizes slices per batch of mixture so adjust as u wish)
heat DRY, CLEAN skillet over med high
quickly dip slices of bread of ur choice in egg mixture , i like to press down just a little to really get it in there but be careful bc some breads will fall apart more easily than others
immediately put dipped bread on pan and DONT move it for at least a minute or 2. when the cooked side has turned a nice crispy golden brown, use a spatula to carefully flip— we want to preserve that crispiness
top each slice with a small pat of butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and powdered sugar
add whatever fruits etc whipped cream maple syrup you want but it’s so good just like that.

1, 15, 29, 50, and 89
1. What have you eaten today?
It's half past five in the afternoon, I've had breakfast and lunch so far. Breakfast was a bagel, one half with butter and cherry jam, one with chocolate spread. (And medication, but that isn't exactly food)
Lunch was a Brezel with butter and pieces of cheese (six different kinds, but don't ask which, I can only tell you one of them was a brie XD) and some iceberg lettuce with vinaigrette (rice wine vinegar, sunflower oil, mustard, honey and too much herb-salt).
I think I actually didn't snack anything between meals, which is rare, but I made East Friesian tea which is drunk with rock sugar and milk (well, cream traditionally, but I take milk), so I guess my desire/need for calories was satisfied that way.
15. Which do you prefer:a museum, a night club, the forest or a library?
Not the night club for sure.
Otherwise it depends on my mood and physical state (and what kind of museum).
On a bad pain day, definitely the library.
The museum is tempting if it's for something I'm interested in (shiny stones, science, art I like, historical fashion..) and if it has seats at regular intervals bc ugh are many museums unaccessible in that respect!
Forest is often lovely, but there's usually bugs and such, and no seats.. can you tell I struggle with fatigue and pain but can still walk XD
15. What is your style?
Mostly black jeans and t-shirts with prints. Very long hair up in a bun. Is that what this is asking? I'm not really going for a special aesthetic, I wanna be comfy and approachable to nice people but off-putting to bigots XD
29. What is the best thing that has happened to you this week?
So since I put the pillow in the last one, another highlight was ordering a German Russian course book, bc I'm losing my mind over Duolingo not teaching grammar. I know it makes some amount of sense and a lot of ppl starting from English don't know the concepts, but it's driving me nuts. From what I can tell, Russian shares a lot of grammatical concepts with German and I'm hoping the book will give me some aha moments
50. Favorite fruits?
Yaaaaas fruits! Raspberries are called 'cat berries' in our household bc I love them. I also love apples (braeburn or story), mandarines (though I have.. conditions they need to meet), cherries, peaches, strawberries (but only fresh and ripe), mangoes, granadillas, figs, apricots, litchis, .. I'm sure I'm forgetting some XD
89. If money wasn’t an issue, what top 10 places would you travel to? (You get to stay at each place for a week)
Oh dear, money isn't the biggest hurdle, accessibility/my energy levels is, and a few other things play into it as well, but let's see
1. Visit @prettypangolins again. I love them and want to spend time with them
2. Glasgow. Loved it there, want to see what changed, want to visit the Yarn Cake and Purrple Cat Café again
3. Visit @catblog-weatherwax and finally meet them for real, and their family, including cats
And then it gets interesting bc we get to the territory of visiting ppl I'd like to meet who I don't know if they'd want me to visit, and places I'd kinda like to see but don't know if they'd be accessible/safe enough for me, but let's assume both, then I'd go to
4. LA
5. Texas (probably two cities, I'd have to ask XD)
6. Moscow
7. New Zealand
8. Japan (make that at least Tokyo and Kyoto, maybe Osaka)
With the brackets we're at 10-11 then, right? Else I'd add Brussels, I think, and somewhere to see aurora borealis
Thank you for the ask, that was fun!!

survey #124
Do you like pineapple on pizza? To be entirely fair, I don't think I've tried it, but considering I'm generally not a fan of sweet and savory combos, I'm doubtful I would enjoy it.
Do you like milk? I do, but only legitimate, mammalian milk. No oat, soy, etc. stuff; trust me, I've tried it because the dairy industry is actually fucking horrible and rooted in awful abuse & I want NOTHING to do with it, but I just don't like non-dairy alternatives, like in the way that I have to aggressively fight spewing it out - which I don't always succeed at. I just hate it. I am so, so sensitive to tastes I dislike.
Do you like syrup or powdered sugar on your french toast? Uh I guess a bit of both is ideal, but I could see me going for one or the other depending on my mood.
Do you put jelly or butter on your toast? I honestly don't really eat toast. But if I DO have it for whatever reason, I'm gonna want grape jam on it.
Do you like baking? Never done it. I really should learn, though... I just need to learn cooking in general.
What are you grandparents' names? Right now I only remember my mom's parents' tbh, which were Cecelia and William.
If any, how old are your siblings? Ashley is 29, Nicole JUST turned 25, Misty is 35, Katie is 39, and Bobby is... oh, he doesn't have his birth year on FB, so idk lmao, but younger than Katie. Full disclosure I looked up Misty's and Katie's too bc I'm awful and don't remember my half-siblings' birthdays/ages like a literal asshole <333333
What color is your dad's hair? So he was born blonde IF I remember his childhood pictures correctly, but it became totally black for the majority of his life. It's pretty much entirely gray by now, but you can see the hue kinda peppers in lightness in a sorta way where at least to me, you can tell his hair is supposed to be black, he's just old.
How old was your mom when she had you? FUCK my mom doesn't have her birth year on FB either, but I THINK it was 1961, so if that is the case she would've been 34. It's somewhere around there.
Do you live with any of your family members currently? Just my mom.
What is your favorite cousins name? I don't have a close relationship with any of my cousins, honestly.
Who are you closest to in your family? My mom.
How long have you and your partner been together? It's been around a year and a half now.
Do you live together? Not currently, but I'm aware that when he has his own place again, he wants me to come with him. His mom is in a stable enough place and has been for a long enough time where he's comfortable leaving her with the house, but because of just how fucking CLINICALLY INSANE the housing market is right now, he just hasn't found a decent place that's priced even remotely reasonably. It's just financially intelligent to stay where he is until the market gets better or an incredible deal falls into his lap.
What is the first movie you watched together? As a couple? Technically, I think it'd be Coraline, which I know we watched once at my place the first time we tried dating in '17. Oh wait... or it mighta been the remake of It, which we watched in theaters.
How old are they? He's 29 and convinced he's basically on this deathbed age-wise lmao sir your life has JUST started
What are some things you enjoy doing? Primarily computer-related stuff, like watching videos or listening to music, socials activities, RPing, editing various things, playing WoW, doing surveys... but I also like to take photographs, read, draw, play video games (these days primarily with others), and I would absolutely adore going on nature walks and things of the like if I was in better shape (one day!!), and it wasn't hot. I also love learning about and watching animals.
What is your favorite color? Pastel pink is #1, followed by... many other pink shades, haha, like coral, rose gold, neon, fuchsia, etc. etc. I also like deep, regal reddish-purple colors, like maroon and burgundy, and lighter shades of purple, like lilac, orchid, and such.
What state are you from? North Carolina.
Have you ever adopted an animal? I'm assuming you don't mean truly "purchase" from a breeder or something, in which case, yes.
Have you ever taken in a stray? That's how our outdoor cat infestation from my childhood started, haha. I know my family (myself 100% included) has ZERO regrets over rescuing Chance, but yeah, it was a massive problem. Even after her, when we'd entered a phase of having no cats, we took in two kittens (Aphrodite and her sister whose name I just can't remember anymore) that were LITERALLY thrown out of a car in a plastic bag. Aphrodite started a fresh chain of having way too many cats, but not nearly as many as we had with Chance's family. They were still taken by animal control, though, because of wildly shitty neighbors that never communicated "hey they keep wandering into our yard, stop this or we're calling somebody." Coming home from school to every single one of them gone was one of the worst days of my fucking life (I was literally shrieking curses and sobbing on the porch), and I still grieve Aphrodite especially; I adored that cat. BUT ANYWAY, DO NOT keep your cats outdoors, and even when solely indoor pets, spay/neuter them, PLEASE.
What is an animal you are scared of? Whale sharks. It's funny, I like them, they're such peaceful animals, but their mouths just REALLY freak me out. I'd actually like to swim near one one day, maybe kill the fear.
Have you ever been bitten by a dog? Not a serious bite, no. Just a couple nips from nervous ones, the kinds that never even drew blood. My sister has been bitten by a German shepherd though on the hand; it belonged to her friend, and for some reason I don't remember, the dog just attacked her. She wound up needing stitches, and bless her friend, poor girl was sobbing because she felt so bad. It didn't affect Nicole's love for dogs though, and later in life she basically owned a German shepherd named Zeke. Maybe she sorta still does, idk; he was her ex-boyfriend's, and even after the split I know she's always been allowed to see him and I THINK bring him to her place occasionally? That dog is literally the child of divorced parents lmfao
Is Halloween your favorite holiday? Concept and aesthetic-wise, absolutely yes. I LIVE for the vibe, but as far as celebrating the holiday goes, it's not; I really don't do anything, pretty much ever. Christmas is definitely my fave celebratory-wise, because my family gets together and I just love seeing Ash's kids be so overjoyed about it all. It's just one of those days where you really, really focus on the love you have for the people you choose to spend your life with.
Do you like to watch scary movies during October? Meh, I'm just not a movie person, at least when it comes to watching them alone. I'd totally be done for like, watching them with Girt. Primarily because he hates horror/is a total pansy about it and it's hilarious lmfao
What are a couple of your favorite horror films? The original The Blair Witch Project is #1 (I like the sequel too), and I also totally adore The Crazies; maybe tied with the former mention, actually, idk. I thought The Boy was EXCELLENT, that's actually a movie I'd love to watch again. You can't go wrong with The Shining, either! The acting is just historical, plus I'm really into the concept of hysteria building off of what is technically nothing; I think that's also why I love The Blair Witch Project so much, at least the explanation behind it (collective hysteria, overreacting to certain things). The mind is SUCH a powerful thing.
What is your favorite Halloween treat/candy? Pumpkin-shaped Reese's, haha.
Do you often find yourself eating just because you’re bored? I used to be really bad at this, but not so much anymore. I'm not gonna say it NEVER happens, but I've gotten way better about reinforcing to myself "no, you're not hungry, you're bored."
Are you a sex addict? lmao if you know me at all, you know I'm definitely not.
Have you ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend taken from you? No. She tried, but I know Juan didn't date her after a lie she made up DID make me say "you know what fuck this I'm done with this whole drama bye" and break up with him. The lie she'd told was very believable for him honestly, and even though I DID know it could be a lie, Rachel had caused enough stress for me already and I wasn't confident enough of how into Juan I was to put up with it. To this day, I consider that lie a saving grace. I know Juan's done bad things that I don't know about (it's specifically stuck with me to this day that his answer to me asking about a stab wound scar he had was "I deserved it"), and bad things I do know about. It says something when your teacher pulls you aside when she noticed him visiting me a lot in art class to tell me to stay away from him. I'm pretty sure she did this literally twice, but for certain once.
If so, what would you like to do to the person who took them from you? Even in the hypothetical of Juan getting back with Rachel after that incident, Rachel is actually my friend now and I think she's fantastic (people grow, I will not hold her past against her). I wish her zero harm at all, only good things.
Have you ever been cheated on? If so, have you forgiven them? No. To mention my last survey, I DO sometimes wonder if Jason and the girl he dated after me (Ashley) had something stirring before we even split, but in total honesty, I don't think so, I really don't. I don't think that's the kind of person Jason was. But it WAS definitely alarming just how quickly he was onto someone else after we split following dating super seriously for over three and a half years.
Quick! Tell me the name of your favorite movie. The Lion King and The Meerkats 2008 documentary. I forget to mention the latter a lot, because it's an obscure movie barely anyone you will ever meet probably even knows, but it is simply phenomenal.
Do you wear water bras? ... What the fuck is a water bra?
Have you ever sent an anon hate message, be honest now. Nope.
Would you let someone give you a golden shower for a million dollars? I had to look this up and hell fucking no.
Name a band that you think is beyond overrated: I don't care man, let people enjoy whatever art they want. I really don't even know who's "in" these days anyway.
Who is the last person you said goodbye to? My PT therapist for today. She was new for me and is already tied with one other woman for my favorite, haha.
Who can you not live without? Nobody. PLEASE, don't adopt this mentality. I know it's hard to, but think realistically: you, in all technicality, CAN live without any one person, and I think this is so important to remember for when one day, you do lose them in one way or another, and you have to continue living without them. I totally used to believe this when it came to Jason, and I know it played a massive role in the severity of the breakup aftermath, but look at who the hell is living just fine - even happily - without him now.
What’s your favorite sea creature? Giant whales like blue whales top the list, but I also deeply love sea turtles, sea lions, seahorses, jellyfish, and dolphins. Sharks are also very cool and VERY unfairly villainized!!
What’s your favorite acoustic song? The "If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn" one by Sleeping With Sirens, I think. That's been a high wedding song contendor for years now, lmao.
What’s your favorite riddle? Okay so this is really just because of context/plot; it's from God of War: Ragnarök, where Brok asks, "What gets bigger the more you take away from it?," and Mimir realizes the answer near the end: a hole. You'd have to play the game to understand and feel the sheer weight of it, which I HIGHLY recommend, the game is fucking brilliant, I cried SO much through it.
What do you think happens after we pass? I just don't know. I know I don't believe in some perfect paradise and a wicked hell for suiting people, but I DO believe we're still... there somehow, but definitely not with the level of sentience and awareness that we do while alive. I like to think that it's a peacefulness, a feeling of wholeness with the world.
^ Is it different from what you’d like to happen? I don't know, really. It's like, on the surface, the idea of a Heaven sounds fantastic, but... to live in nothing but flawless harmony for all conceivable eternity? That just doesn't sound ideal for me. And I ABSOLUTELY don't believe in/want a Hell-like realm to exist, because like I mentioned earlier, people change, grow, and are ALWAYS (well, I suppose almost always) deserving of the chance to redeem themselves. Eternal punishment so severe that our human minds can't even interpret it is just purely fucking diabolical to me, I want that for nobody.
How do you feel about people self-diagnosing themselves with disorders? Hear me out: it depends. In MOST CASES, I absolutely hate this, especially when the person acts like it is stone-hard fact while holding an unconvincing amount of evidence. However, there are plenty of people who just don't have access to doctors capable of properly diagnosing, and then there's also worth mentioning that you know you more than anybody else does. Just depends on a lot.

The History of Pancakes
The History of Pancakes
Believe it or not but pancakes have been around for centuries and are a staple in several cultures. According to a study, pancakes were enjoyed by people as far back as 30,000 years ago. Some believe the first recorded mention of pancakes was made in 600 B.C. in ancient Greece.
In Rome and ancient Greece, pancakes were made with wheat flour, honey, olive oil, and curdled milk and it was during the English renaissance that people started flavoring their pancakes with spices, sherry, apples, and rosewater.
Each culture has its own version of the pancake. In France for instance, a pancake is called a crepe whereas in Scotland their version of the pancake is called a flapjack.
The term pancake was introduced in the 15th century and became a standard term for this dish in America in the 19th century. Earlier, pancakes were referred to as Indian cakes, johnnycakes, journey cakes, griddle cakes, flapjacks, and buckwheat cakes as early Americans make this delicious treat with buckwheat or cornmeal.
Let us take a look at the history of pancakes below
● 600 BC
The first ever recorded mention of pancakes was made in ancient Greece by a poet who described warm pancakes in his writings.
● 1100 AD Pancake day was introduced. It encouraged people to use dairy in pancakes to make them fluffier and more enjoyable.
● 1445
This is the year that the villagers in Olney, United Kingdom, started their pancake race.
● 1700s
This was the year chefs used snow in the pancakes to make them light and fluffy.
● 1800
Milk and cream become preferred liquids in pancake batters before that wine, brandy and    other liquors were quite common
● 1870
Flapjacks now pancakes changed the way Americans consumed them.
● 1880
Maple syrup is introduced and becomes the preferred topping
Pancakes are still evolving in terms of ingredients and toppings. Today, you can find fluffier pancakes, customized to taste.
How to make pancakes at home?
To make fluffy and delicious pancakes at home, you need to do the following
1. In a bowl, put in flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. If you do not have dry ingredients available at home, it is best to stack up on pre-mixed ingredients to save some time while cooking. You can find pre-measured mixtures from yogurshop on their website www.yogurshop.com
2. Now, whisk the dry ingredients together then add a warm cup of milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and an egg. Now slowly mix the ingredients till you have a nice, smooth batter.
3. In a hot pan, add a ladle of batter till one side turns brown then flip and cook the other side.
4. Garnish your warm pancakes with cake decorations and toppings like syrup, ice cream, whipped cream, or fruit, and voila, your pancake is ready.
How people around the world like to have their pancakes
Each country has its own take on the pancake. In Australia, for instance, you find pancakes the desired dessert option rather than a breakfast option. In Germany, you will find pancakes served along with soup or custard. The Swedes like frying their pancakes and topping them off with fresh fruit and whipped cream and in America, there are unlimited ways to consume them.
Some like them extra thick, and some like them thin. You can top them with maple syrup, honey, or simply butter. Honestly, there is no set way of enjoying a pancake, the best thing about this treat is that you can have it the way you like it.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, it is safe to say that the history of pancakes spans back centuries. It is an easy treat to make and requires 4 to 8 ingredients, depending on how you wish to make it. But with flour, baking powder, eggs, and buttermilk, you can whip up the fluffiest and most delicious pancakes ever. If you do not have these items laying around at home, we reckon you stock up on a pre-made or ready-made mixture from Yogurshop if you want authentic and rich flavors and the fluffiest consistency.
You also have the option of topping it with chocolate syrup, fresh fruits, maple syrup, ice cream, and custard, or simply have it with soup. The recipes are ever-evolving and there is no set way of having pancakes. That is the specialty of this treat – you can have it as a dessert or as a savory treat – and whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong with it.

hi i found this recipe and thought i’d share it with u guys bc it’s rlly good, anyways it’s for cornstarch pudding (better than it sounds!). This recipe in particular makes about one serving, but u can multiply it for more.
okay what u need is:
cold milk - 1 cup
cornstarch - 3 teaspoons
cinnamon
brown sugar - 3 teaspoons
solid butter - 1/2 tablespoon
vanilla extract - about a half cap
mix all of the ingredients in a bowl, sprinkle in cinnamon! you can add more later! don’t worry about the butter being melted! it’ll melt when u cook it.
then, get a small pot and put in the mixture. put it on medium heat and stir until it’s goopy or thick, then put it on high and stir until there are bubbles.
once it’s been bubbling for about a minute, take it off of the stove n put it in a bowl or whatever container u wanna use.
sprinkle some more cinnamon on top and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours, then it’s ready to eat :D
