guys, i think the hermits are going to accidentally start a prank war again. because just like last time, a game of telephone has begun.
first, false made iskall's build into ''false beans,'' her shop from the previous season. however, to give herself plausible deniability, she signs it with "love, Joel. x" due to his username, smallishbeans.
next, iskall sees this, and completely believes it. he thinks it was joel who pranked him, and as he says to pearl while showing off the sign, which he kept even after tearing the prank down, "joel gave me a kiss." in his most recent video, he pranks joel by sending him loads of anonymous messages in order to completely spam and fill his inbox, preventing him from getting any more mail, with notes such as "thinking about you. x"
of course, joel is going to have absolutely no context for this, because he didn't make the initial prank. so who is joel going to assume sent him all those messages while he was away on holiday? well, i have a guess.
It's holiday time! Whether you celebrate, something else or not is cool. But this year thought it be fun to make a little something, and future some of my friends and mutuals!
The chapter I’m on in Rival Firefighters 🚒 is kicking my ass. Words aren’t coming and if they are they’re coming sloooooow. Like maybe 300 words a day slow. It’s annoying and frustrating because I really want to get a good chunk of this fic written. Feel like I haven’t written a lot for it in ages! Like if I can finish off this chapter I’ll be happy 🙂
So here’s today’s 300ish words (I did manage to write a little bit more after this so yay!)
On his last day at the 118, Bobby calls Eddie into his office at the end of shift. Buck shoots him a quizzical look, Eddie shrugging and shaking his head. He has no idea why Bobby wants to see him. Maybe thank him for his time here? But that seems like something he could’ve done in front of everyone, why ask to speak to him privately?
“Ohhhh someone’s in trouble” Chim sing songs looking far too pleased with himself.
Hen snickers beside him. “Better get to the principal’s office, you don’t want to be late.”
Eddie rolls his eyes at them as he leaves the locker room, pausing in the doorway to address Buck, who is still giving him a confused puppy look.
“I’ll meet you back at mine? You’ve still got your key, yeah?”
Buck blinks away the confusion, eyes brightening at the reminder that he’ll still be seeing Eddie even though they aren’t working together anymore. “Y-yeah, still got my key.”
Eddie had gotten a key made and had given it to Buck two days ago after discovering Buck was worried they wouldn’t be in each other’s lives anymore once Eddie finished up his time at the 118. Buck had taken the key and looked at it like it was the greatest treasure in the world, closing his fingers around it tightly before pulling Eddie into a hug that Eddie swears he can still feel the warmth of, deep in the marrow of his bones.
“Alright, I’ll see you soon.”
Eddie makes his way to Bobby’s office, anxiety beginning to bubble in his stomach causing his chest to feel too tight. He rubs at his sternum as he walks, trying to dislodge the tightness, but he knows it’s pointless. He gets to the door and takes a deep breath to get his shit under control before knocking.
I frankly don't think that I can finish this one before the new season airs and in that case it might just get scrapped entirely (because of new wips and changing canon events) but I hope I get around it before that, because it would be such a great exploration of characters and just an abundant source for angst and fluff and eternal domesticity. Anyway, here's a snippet that'll probably be heavily revised later on if I actually end up working on this.
Buck got up abruptly and started pacing up and down, covering the tiny length of Eddie’s kitchen two strides at a time.
“Buck, calm down.” Eddie rose from his chair, his eyes following Buck’s every step with concern.
“What the hell am I even gonna tell him when he asks about his parents? How do I explain any of it?”
“Woah Buck, slow down there, he can’t even talk yet, let alone ask questions. You’ll have plenty of time to think about that.” Eddie put a hand onto Buck’s forearm, halting his movements just by the table, then he guided Buck back down to his chair with gentle force.
The warm tips of Eddie’s fingers were a solid comfort over Buck’s stress-cold skin as he squeezed his arm lightly, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
“I-I’m sorry.” Buck sighed. If he was apologizing for flipping out just a moment ago or for bringing this to Eddie in the first place; even he wasn’t entirely sure.
“Look, I get that this wasn’t the plan when you decided to help them,” Buck opened his mouth to cut in but Eddie pressed on, “but this is what’s happening now. So you’re just gonna have to take it slow and deal with it one thing at a time. Okay?”
“I… Okay.” Buck closed his eyes in defeat, desperately hoping that when he opened them the next time, he’d find the strength he needed to go through today; though he was aware that the chances of that were slim to none.
But funnily enough, when he finally opened his eyes and his gaze landed on Eddie’s face, something shifted.
Eddie was looking at Buck with an expression that told him everything he needed to hear without words, his eyes were glimmering like amber in the bright morning light and the creases between his eyebrows seemed softer than before. Eddie was the embodiment of everything Buck ever wanted and needed — and in remembering that, suddenly the sight of him was enough to find the strength Buck was looking for.
