wouldn't it be fucked up if you got hanahaki for your yandere (without you knowing how fucked up they are obviously) and later on down the line after you've been cured, you're in their living space living with them as a couple and, there's a certain room you've been asked not to enter, but you get curious and do some snooping anyways and--
You get borderline re-traumatized as you recognize the exact size, shape, and species of the flowers you used to cough up in the depths of your disease, now encased in epoxy resin, pressed into books, made into ART, made TIMELESS, PERMANENT--
Like to you these are reminders of you almost dying, symptoms of your deepest humiliation and shame, reminders of the terrors of brushing with death, it's FUCKING YOU UP to see them again, like legitimate psychological damage, and meanwhile your yandere apparnetly likes to observe them like the goddamn Mona Lisa. Petals that may or may not have been speckled red with the blood of a fatal illness, in frames on the wall, locked inside vaults, tucked away into drawers--
Yeah I think I would be destroying that entire room and leaving nothing behind for that sicko to appreciate when they come home. By the time they return from work their special room is completely trashed and their precious darling has escaped to run off to start a new life far, far away from the very person they once almost died for...

Have you considered unilateral hearing loss being reason for the medical discharge? So many ways this could happen so you can toy with it however you want. Losing hearing in one ear (especially suddenly) can really mess with a persons ability to balance and their spatial awareness. It feels like there’s a lot of angsty potential here re: “why is this stupidly small thing such a big deal in my life” psychological aspect. Going from best of the best to suddenly being a fall risk, unable to tell where a sound is coming from, etc (things that have been necessary to his survival, gone) has to be disorienting. Also potential for him to get pulled back in unofficially when he’s learned to cope with it, but being at a disadvantage makes the stakes even higher.
(Bless y'all for helping me worldbuild my Neighbor!AU lmao I love this so much)
Ohhh that's a brilliant idea. Between all the noise exposure to firearms and explosives and (I'm assuming) multiple head injuries over time, it's absolutely a real possibility. Plus it would definitely take some time to get used to, and you're right that it would effect someone's equilibrium and awareness.
I do like the angst potential that Simon hid it for a while until he simply couldn't anymore. Maybe he was still able to hear loud sounds, so he didn't think it effected him too badly until one op where he was too close to a detonation and the last of his hearing in his right ear completely left him. Price is the one that spots Simon stumbling when they return to base and forces him to come clean, at which point he undergoes a medical exam and they find the extent of the damage.
He's discharged and sent home, and he. Does not do well initially. Price keeps tabs on him the best. Soap and Gaz try to, but Price is the only one that can really manage to make it through to Simon and get him to talk. Mostly by force, let's be real here. But eventually, he comes clean about how much he's struggling, and how he feels completely lost without the SAS. So Price cuts him a covert deal. Once he adjusts, once he gets used to the hearing loss, he'll be put on reserve. Very, very far down on the reserve list, but still there nonetheless. Meaning as far as anyone else is concerned, he's still discharged, but if shit really goes sideways, Price may call him up.
It's a deal he takes. Better than nothing, he figures.
But in the meantime, he's left to sort of. Fend for himself. Until he lets you in, that is. When he calls you and rants and raves because he's frustrated and pissed off that he's still having issues with vertigo a full month after that last op. How he tries to distract himself, but he has trouble comprehending what's being said on the radio or television if the situation isn't just right.
How he knows one of his smoke alarms needs the batteries changed because of that goddamn beeping, but he can't fucking figure out which one because he can't properly triangulate where the sound is coming from yet.
And as soon as that one word - can't - comes out of his mouth, that's when you know he really needs help. Because Simon Riley never admits that he can't do something unless it's dire. So you go over and help him out.
I also do like the idea that he becomes extra protective over the hearing he has left. He's already got tinnitus in his good ear, he doesn't want it to worsen any further.
Mostly because he thinks he'd never recover if he could never hear your voice again.

Fermat's Cuisine is an Intergenerational Trauma Narrative
Tumblr media
When @troubled-mind pitched Fermat's Cuisine to me, I knew I'd be watching it soon, and I went in expecting it to be a kind of classic high stakes restaurant drama with a twist, about a math prodigy slash newbie chef learning the ropes from an intense mentor, figuring out how to translate his special skill and function as part of a well-oiled cooperative team, and taking the restaurant world by storm.
And it was that, partly (until it wasn't). But the core narrative in this drama is not really about food or math or a classic success through adversity arc at all. Instead, it's about the intergenerational trauma passed down through a lineage of abusive haute cuisine chefs, the deep psychological damage they do to each other, and the way our protagonist and his mentor ultimately come together to break the cycle. Obviously, because I am me, this revelation was a goddamn delight and a very welcome surprise. I'm going to dig in on how this theme defined the narrative, so spoilers ahead, folks!
Tumblr media
There are many dramas that touch on how extremely high stress restaurant environments are as workplaces and how rampant abuse can get in kitchens. It's quite a common theme explored in most stories about professional chefs. But this drama didn't simply nod to these elements or include them as an added tension point, it doubled down on them and built in an additional layer by centering its story on a lineage of chefs (Shibuya->Kai->Gaku) who explicitly took their protégés into their homes as parent figures.
Shibuya found Kai when he was an unhoused and orphaned child and raised him, bringing him home to live with him and providing him with shelter and material support and a chosen career path. And then he proceeded to mentor him in such an emotionally abusive way that it's kind of a miracle Kai still had any humanity left in him by the time he found Gaku and began to repeat the cycle. Shibuya taught Kai that his entire worth as a human being was dependent on his ability to cook, not just well, but at a level that few in the world can ever hope to achieve. He raised him to strive to "surpass God" with his food and to feel worthless if he couldn't continually top himself. And he raised him to think there was only glory in this achievement if he did it alone, without relying on bonds with other people to support him.
This is deeply fucked up stuff, and it predictably fucked Kai up, especially once he developed an illness that impacted his ability to taste, and therefore, his ability to cook. He found Gaku and repeated the patterns he learned in his childhood to try to quickly mold him into the same kind of chef he feared he could no longer be, and then abandoned him alone with all the same impossible expectations he was raised with, turning him quickly from a sweet kid with a genuine love for learning how to master his job into an abusive tyrant in his own right. Gaku was just a kid, however, no matter how talented, and he couldn't sustain these responsibilities Kai put on him, so it all came crashing down rather quickly, pushing Gaku to go in search of his wayward mentor and pulling them back together in their shared failure. And ultimately, they decided that their only option left was to try working together to achieve their dream in defiance of Shibuya's teachings.
Tumblr media
Which led to one of the best scenes in the drama and the one that clinched this story for me, when after cooking a meal for him together, Gaku directly confronted Shibuya on Kai's behalf and demanded that he acknowledge Kai in the way he deserves, giving Kai the catharsis he has been desperately needing for years. Did Shibuya suddenly change his perspective and apologize for his wrongs? Of course not. But the drama showed us how wrong he was by bringing Gaku and Kai together, with the support of their colleagues, to defy his teachings and make beautiful food together their way. And Shibuya was forced to relinquish his hold on Kai, finally giving him the approval he was so desperate for and releasing him from his expectations. Kai broke the cycle with Gaku's help, and thus began to heal. And in helping Kai, Gaku saved himself, as well.
Now, can I claim the execution of this arc in the show was perfect? No, I definitely cannot. This drama is extremely watchable, has a great cast, and was built around a fantastic main idea, but it also has some pretty significant flaws in how it all came together. There were serious pacing problems in this story--some character information was withheld for too long, some narrative beats were rushed to the point that they barely landed, and some character turns were simply not well grounded enough to feel believable. I have a whole reef of notes about how to rearrange the story elements to make it all work on a higher level. But the core of this story is solid and the ending rings true, despite some bumps on the journey to get there.
Tumblr media
I highly recommend y'all check this drama out for something a little different and very refreshing. And hey, it's not often that Japan puts their content on major western streaming services and gives us all easy access to enjoy their work, so we should encourage the practice.

Probably an extremely unpopular opinion but I think it’s fine and good that Azula didn’t have a redemption arc in the original Avatar cartoon and it’s not because she didn’t “deserve” one. The way Azula’s narrative unfolds in the original cartoon is perfect and exactly what it sets out to be, which is in part a TRAGEDY. and not only that but a tragedy that took a lot of us by surprise at the time. What Azula’s arc does is show us a cruel, sadistic antagonist character that many people loved to hate, and at the end brutally and devastatingly reminded us that this was a fourteen year old child twisted and warped by her household and militaristic imperialist society and her father’s influence in particular until it all came to a head and pushed her into a total mental breakdown.
None of these things “excuse” her actions (and I hate hate HATE that any attempt to see character’s actions as psychologically grounded and consistent with a character having an actual interior life and not being a cackling 80s cartoon villain, or being an indication of larger societal problems and not an evil born in a vacuum is often seen as making excuses and apologism), but they remind us that 1) we don’t punish child soldiers for being child soldiers and Azula IS A CHILD, and 2) humans who are born into and fall into extreme and damaging ideologies and even perpetuate those ideologies don’t just spring out of nowhere and when they are children it is a goddamned tragedy when they can’t be saved from it.
and I side-eye the concept of “deserving” redemption a lot but also in recent years I’ve questioned a lot what we even mean by redemption arcs and whether I think it’s a useful framework given how broad it is, BUT. for me at least, chopping away the Christian trappings of redemption arcs needing punishment to reach deliverance etc the bare minimum core of what redemption currently means to me is an understanding of the moral wrongs you have done in the past and a conviction to go forward not continuing to perpetuate those wrongs, and to strive for reparative Justice when possible. None of those things are things I think Azula would be capable of during the arc of season three. And that’s ok, because her arc was also an important one to show.
That doesn’t mean I don’t think she could be capable of redemption in her future (I haven’t read the comics and am a bit wary of doing so, I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions), but ultimately I think rather than redemption, what Azula “deserves” is rehabilitation. Redemption is an interior process, though of course people outside can help, but it’s something you strive for yourself and thus I don’t think can be “deserved” (redemption is not forgiveness!!!!). Rehabilitation is something that you can work with more as a group, and in the case of child soldiers, you can extend to others more easily. Child soldiers do not need redemption, they need rehabilitation.

trying to study and feeling a genuine sense of grief and psychological damage at dale jennings. like wtf that was sooooo not sweet little awkward s1 dale of u. but at the same time it kinda was ??? like the roots were there and u can see it. dale never reconciling with adam lindell after adam tried to make things right. dale denying his sexuality and asking tim to hide too and treating him not like a person but an opportunity. dale using tims sexuality against him when tim made real criticism about the HIV narrative that was being pushed. dale doing nothing and letting tim quit his job and seeking the secure public heterosexual relationship with Helen that would bring him social security and fame. like wow maybe the season 2 finale dale felt out of character at first but goddamn were the seeds there. of course dale would screw over yet another genuine friend who needed him so that he could maintain his status. and now he has alienated gerry, tim, and helen. the three people in the world who see him and accept him for who he is. for the approval of people like geoff walters and lindsay. but like dale said in season 1, he has worked really hard to get to where he is.

OH MY GOD I TYPED UP A WHOLE THING AND ACCIDENTALLY LOST IT OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOD I HATE IT HERE- anyways *ahem* attempt no. 2 of me asking you for a Hazbin Hotel match because I have never done this kinda thing before and I'm curious :)
GENDER AND SEXUALITY: I'm non-binary, they/he/she pronouns. I generally don't have a preference between the three tbh but I do appreciate ppl mixing it up! I'm sex-repulsed asexual and gray-biromantic. Again no real preference lmfao
APPEARANCE: White, dark blonde hair, green eyes, just below 5'3, pretty basic looking all things considered. I've got a pretty angular face I think. I'm afab and don't shave cuz it's too much work. I wear pretty much exclusively graphic tees(band shirts, dumb jokes, fandom stuff... that kinda thing) or button ups with funky patterns paired w/ the comfiest pants I can find, but occasionally I'll pull myself together enough to make a dencent(?) outfit, typically reminiscent of shit scene kids in the early 2000s would wear. I also like dying my hair but usually don't bcuz I procrastinate on it for too long.
PERSONALITY: If I had to describe it in one word? Unhinged. I am unhinged. 7/10 people will agree I am a very frightening person to be around. I say out of pocket shit(ranging from vile sex jokes to just straight up threats of violence) pretty regularly. I also like to sneak up on ppl and make very loud noises just to see their reactions... *ahem* anyways, despite all that, most of my friends would also describe me as caring and loyal! I have low empathy, so the only way I ever understand any of my friends emotions is by using my own experiences to compare and contrast until I have a decent idea of what's going on in their head, but I AM very good at psychoanalyzing people and providing objective, unbiased thoughts & advice on their situations. I would also literally go to war for my friends. Like, if you hurt one of them say your goddamn PRAYERS because I am coming to your location with a knife and murderous intent. I'm kinda awkward & shy at first, but at my core I AM an extrovert. I just don't know how to talk to ppl bcuz I am ✨neurodivergent✨(autism & ADHD) and have a hard time approaching ppl bcuz I don't know if they'll like me or not. Typically I make friends by making very loud jokes and waiting for somebody to approach me because they like my sense of humor. Which speaking of, I am very funny! Most people I interact with regularly would agree I am a very funny person!!! I'm also really good at media analysis and making arguments. I don't do well in debates because I choke under the pressure(gotta work on that tbh), but I'm good at writing argumentative essays. Plus, I'm pretty good at just bold face lying to people so overall I can be pretty damn convincing. I like adrenaline rushes and try to actively seek out new experiences as long as I'm confident they won't cause me any significant damage(socially or physically) in the long run. Which is unfortunately not many because I am INCREDIBLY paranoid. Like to the point of accidentally staying up til 3am cuz I'm convinced someone's gonna break into my house and kill me... I also have depression, severe dissociation issues, and existential dread which is. Fun. That's fun. I also have a tendancy to go down random rabbit holes and obsess over inconsequential details in shows I like to the point of making whole ass conspiracy theories :)
LIKES: Cartoons, drawing, writing, acting, singing, reading fanfic, watching YouTube, long drives, listening to music, jumpscaring ppl, being funny, ziplining, problem solving, video essays, ghost hunting shows, supernatural stuff in general, psychology, media analysis, frogs, sharks, ferrets, cats, violence, chocolate, Drawfee(YT channel), glitter, and just. So many fandoms. Just so many.
DISLIKES: Slimey shit, being touched(most of the time, there are occasional exceptions), being touch starved DESPITE not liking being touched, ppl insulting my interests(only I get to do that), media illiteracy, projects I'm not invested in, ppl putting preasure on me, mosquitoes, existential dread, dissociating, being tired all the time, being wrong, taking risks, feeling vulnerable, and stories with a lot of potential that just. Don't do anything with said potential.
PREFERENCES?: Uh. Someone significantly taller than me(shouldn't be hard Hazbin characters are fucking huge) that'll listen to my insane rants and is able to match my energy.
Akdncksmfnsmdsn I rlly hope I did this right again it's my first time doing anything like this-
HEYYYYYY!!! FINALLY GOT TO YOU 😜
Honestly I was debating on like a few different characters BUT!
I’ve decided to pair you with… LUTE!
Tumblr media
Honestly I think she’d also be sex repulsed. She’s definitely more of a romantic lover! Though she doesn’t show it.
I think she talked to you at first because your style choices reminded her of Adam- and obviously, she misses him like crazy
If you did dye your hair often with her, she’d probably want to help you! I think she’d apply the color so it doesn’t get messy :)
She LOVES your personality. She thinks you are similar to her in many ways!
She also would need to experience it herself. She’s pretty stoic and doesn’t show her emotions. She’d probably think it’d make herself look weak.
I think you both would definitely fight back to back 24/7! You both would fight to the DEATH for each other.
She loves how caring you are for other people- it gives her a different sense of pace. Someone new!
I think Lute would see a TINY BIT through your lies. Lute is very observant with EVERYTHING.
She’d love if you made jokes. She need’s something less boring in her life than just standing there.
Adrenaline rushes? Totally join the exorcists- and you can be her right hand!!
She’d try to help you through paranoia, but you shouldnt worry much. She’s STRONG asf!
She’d LOVE TO HEAR CONSPIRACIES!! she would think they are SO COOL.
Although she isn’t much taller- I think she’d around 5’8 personally. She just looks small bc shes always next to Adam who’s HUGE!
She may not be able to match your energy, only because she’ll need to come out of her shell more- she’s always listening. She has ears EVERYWHERE.
~~~~
HOPE THIS WAS OKAY ❣️
A late night rant about sex
Tumblr media
A porn star once had an erectile dysfunction right in the middle of shooting porn, he just couldn't get it up, so you know what he did? The naked super sexy lady on top of him was just not arousing him, so he grapped his phone, and played his favorite porn clip, and shazam, he was back in the game. How crazy meta is that? A porn star needed porn to be sexually functional! Even when he knows exactly how unreal it is. I know it's easy to use this story to condemn porn, but actually screw that.
All I was thinking is damn, sex is never ever as simple as feeling aroused by mere naked bodies. It's a whole complicated very personal world we are taught to automatically feel ashamed of. It's a personal mood, taste, kink, type, fetish, and of course, it starts and ends in the mind. So much so that when it comes to turning yourself on, you can't do it because someone is naked and going down on you, you can only do it with seducing your specific mind with what it sexually craves.
But we are collectively and extremely sex starved that we become nations of hungry people eating the first thing they manage to put in their plate, for a starved person doesn't get to pick what they eat. They go for the bare minimum, or less. That porn star who couldn't get it up still have a better sex life than most people I know. We talk a lot about how bad porn is to the mind because it confirms our worldview, so nobody talks about how bad our actual sex life is, we are either masturbating alone as our little dirty secret, or we are denied our right to even admit we have personal nontraditional sexual cravings, cause you'd instantly be a filthy animal.
I read an article once in Psychology Today about how porn psychologically affects the sex life of married couples, bearing in mind we're Not talking about porn addicts who consume porn excessively, and you know what it basically said? The therapist didn't preach us about how porn automatically damages our sex life, but rather said what I always thought, that couples who had no problem with porn, found it arousing and helpful, and other couples who were uncomfortable with it, found it to be harmful, and consider it disloyalty if they found out their partner watches porn.
So your personal beliefs and preferences can make or break your sexual experience? And manifest itself physically? There's no "one ring that rules them all"? No ultimate manual or guideline that applies on everyone of us? Go figure.
You know, Napoleon once sent a letter to his wife saying "Home in three days, don't bathe", and it never grossed me out, in fact, it felt genuine, intimate sex as it should be, sex IS gross, we're fancy apes, who worry too much about looking our best, like it's a goddamn performance test. Like the brain doesn't fire bursts of electrical impulses from nowehere to nowehere during sex. Like it's not all about how ripe the moment is, how ripe your labia is, how ripe your cock is, how ripe your whole state of being is, and to be with a person who knows how to play the instrument of your body, cause they know, cause they made it safe for you to say, is sexier than every porn clip and every meaningless sex and every traditional soulless sex.
There's been a trend that looks down on passion cause it's a luxury for those who can afford it, missing the fact that just because something is out of reach, doesn't mean it's not important. We adapt to not having passionate lives by claiming it's silly to try to find our passions in life. But you know what eventually happens? We become a porn star doing his job and not be able to command his body to betray its nature. We become a porn star who sooner or later wouldn't be able to get it up.
what i really adore about everything now is how it actual respects teenage girls (and teenagers) as people. they aren't sexualized. anorexia, which affects primarily girls, isn't sexualized or trivialized. we see how horrible, ugly, terrifying, nuanced, and psychologically damaging it is--without being too graphic or torture porn. it's a real, serious illness that isn't a fad or phase, and i also like how mia's body dysmorphia and issues with gender don't make her nonbinary, because the show is explicit that this is a common experience for teenage girls in a world that sexualizes and demonizes their bodies, alienating them from their bodies, which is something that usually gets left out in conversations on gender. i related a lot to mia, even though i've never been anorexic, but i struggled a LOT with body dysmorphia as a teenager, and it's so . . . bro i get so emotional just thinking about how RESPECTFULLY how GRACIOUSLY and TENDERLY they talked about it and displayed it. it's so rare and it's so GODDAMN REFRESHING.
I also love how they explored how gay boys and boys in general are expected to be hypersexual with will and theo, and how scary a culture of pornography and enforced hypersexuality is on minors. how traumatic it can be. so many teen shows are exploitative of teenage sexuality, more interested in parading them than actually depicting teenage struggles. a lot of internet culture and porn culture in Hollywood is actually grooming, and it's so sad to me how many people don't realize how prevalent it is in a lot of shows aimed at teens (you know, MINORS).
i also love how they handled the abortion topic. too many shows keep trying to fear-monger girls when it comes to abortion, but many girls and women do not have regrets or nightmares or complications, and I'm glad they showed that perspective.
I ALSO LOVE how lesbian romance doesn't take a back seat and it is allowed to be developed and nuanced and takes precedence. bisexuality isn't seen as this deviant, confused state. and being gay isn't depicted as this glamourous, effortless thing, but neither is it miserable. it's all just normal.
this show is one of the few non-condescending, non-childish, non-adultified, non-exploitative, sincere, genuine shows on teenage humanity, especially the humanity of teenage girls.
AND POC CHARACTERS WEREN'T TOKENS. THEY WERE THE MC'S. IT WAS SO SO SO REFRESHING OMIGOD.
and stephen fry was just . . . i loved him. his character, his dialogue, his delivery, so so so good.
what a gem.
I had to leave work early today because of abdominal pain--not one of my several usual types, which freaked me out. It's doing basically fine now, but I've started reading Toxic Parents and I'm in this weird headspace of imagining my own mother reading this, because I'm sure she has, and not understanding how damaging she was to us. And not understanding how damaging my father was to us. She can recognize her own father's overt psychological abuse, but the idea that my dad kicking in my goddamned bedroom door because I didn't answer it fast enough when I was crying because he'd been yelling--the idea that that is abuse, and it's fucked up--that's beyond her. Proof positive that just learning about psychology isn't enough to make you a good person.
I will Not Stand for bayverse Optimus Prime slander in this house not one bit.
That mech has all the signs of what I call "ugly PTSD" and he's most definitely not being treated for it and exactly nobody around him acknowledges it.
It's rather easy to see exactly why he gets more violent as the pentology goes on, because time and time again people are pushing his moral boundaries. More and more of his friends die, and he's gradually becoming more and more desensitized to death. Hell, he legitimately died for almost an entire movie and was resurrected in the middle of a major battle. The human government, which does at first present as a threat, afterwards consistently needles the autobots and makes it rather clear that "hey yeah we will betray you the very second we consider you not useful enough". And he goddamn tries to be at least polite to them, even in Darkside of the moon where they not only keep very important secrets for them but at the end decide to go on a full ass hunt. Most of the damage to the human cities is honestly because that's where the Decepticons decided to drag the autobots to, and something something purposeful choosing of battlefield because Megatron knew that would fuck with Optimus and that that's where he could cause the most damage. It's why in the real world military leaders choose to hit the most populated areas in enemy territory, because it's tearing into vital places. The great Cybertronian war we see in the bayverse films is a dirty and rough war that's clearly caused so much horrors on every front, and Optimus tries (and fails) to play damage control.
In the beginning of AoE? There's a reason that the instant he wakes up, he goes full fight mode because he can't run. He's absolutely fucking terrified that he'll die like his friends, and he's trapped in a very small space. Even as the movie progresses and he's become attached to these three humans, the other autobots we meet deride him for this because they have very good reason to mistrust the humans the same way they mistrusted the Decepticons. Hell, I'd argue he has less reason because of how we see the humans straight up torture and experiment on the Cybertronians they get a hold of. They quite literally bring back one of there greatest enemies and nearly end up destroying the whole planet with the cyberforming seed.
Nemesis Prime we see in the last knight? That shit was inevitable. He wasn't just manipulated by Quintessa or tortured by Quintessa. She straight up psychologically broke him down to his core and rebuilt him to her liking for her goal. Now being honest that last movie was fairly ehhhhh and the quest in it was pretty human based, but when we see Optimus broke out of his Nemesis persona I'd argue that he's not the same Optimus we see in the first movie, hell not even the same mech we saw in AoE. At the end of the movie, he has been through hell and back several times and just. Doesn't know what to do. The ending of that movie is messy as hell and leaves us on a major cliffhanger and the earth is irrevocably changed. But, just because he isn't Nemesis anymore doesn't mean he's magically fixed.
Lads I'm fuckin insane right now
It is two in the goddamn morning do not ask me why I'm awake but I just said screw and started listening to Laurie Anderson's "O Superman" and
Oh my good grief I've lost it
The eeriness, the sadness, the nostalgia, the hinted pain of the song SCREAMS Providence to me!!!
Ok let me go on lore drop here wow I don't do this but fuck AAAAA we ball
So Providence (formerly known as Artemus before Order 66 👀), also know as TU/AE-03600 according to the Techno Union, is a war general for well
The Techno Union, which is led by his boss/leader/master/whatever, Axel forgot his last name. And he's like chief scientist and everything that does a lot of fucked up experiments and shit
And unfortunately for Providence, it's viewed as beneficial for the long run if he gets,,, augmentations. So over the course of 20-25 years, Providence is subjected to both mild and intense alterations. (ie. Cybernetic spine, cybernetic arms, legs, a cybernetic eye, a whole lot of shit).
The ✨ catch ✨ is that Axel uses a special type of anesthesia developed by him that makes the patient feel no pain, but they're still awake/conscious.
This being said, Providence has been conscious during all his procedures. Or at least a vast majority of them.
And the eeriness of this song makes my mind start to REALLY think about the experience
And all the psychological damage it does
Like imagine how fucking horrendous it would be to be conscious, unable to move, you can't feel pain, but you can feel the pressure of your limbs being sawed off
Or your flesh being skinned away to be replaced with metal plates
Laurie Anderson's "O Superman," for me, exhumes just the right vibe for my mind to delve into that direction, Because it's not something I spend a lot of time thinking about, and yet I'm one of those weirdos that's mildly fascinated with the history of human experimentation.
Anyway, that's all. Will I regret this late night spleel in the morning? Mayhaps, but I'm not deleting this, goodnight my loves <3
Look, I'm gonna be real with you. Wizard101 may pass itself off as a kids MMO.
But by GOD is that game fuckem'd up.
And not only on a level of the players IRL doing dumb shit.
Like, imagine being some 10 year old who is trying to play through arc one and you're presented with this guy who everyone says is the most evil man in the spiral, and all he really wants is his dead wife back. That's all he wants. The guy was willing to set aside the spiral as collateral damage for love and you have to fn MURDER him for it.
How the fuck does the 10 year old even begin to process that? How can you ask them to?
How do you then go on to arc 2 and suddenly you're confronted with Morganthe? You're dealing with British Colonists, literal murder plots, psychological slavery, mass genocide, the extinction of an entire planet, and the complete unmaking of creation. Oh, and that poor guy who wanted his wife back? He's a zombie now. He's a zombie and you have to kill him AGAIN so maybe he can possibly find peace with his dead wife this time around.
All while your character is STILL A STUDENT. And then by the time you get to act three, your character has ramped up so fucking hard that now you aren't fighting bad guys, you now have to become a divine entity to face off against the primordial creators of time and space. AND THAT'S NOT EVEN THE END OF THE GAME!!!! How the hell did this happen?? This was supposed to be a quirky little wizard game that you played as a kid and had fun with! Why the hell am I being tasked with killing GOD?!?!
Seriously, someone needs to stop teaching the wizard how to summon Cthulhu (who is now your bestie or something? I don't know arc 4) and get them some goddamn therapy. So much therapy. Just give them a nice house in the country and let someone else take over because the sheer volume of trauma response this kid has at this point, Jesus criminy.
A 21-Gun 'Fuck You' to Isayama's little bastard child....
Well guys, another day, another birthday in the Attack on Titan canon. But there are no warm wishes, no fond feelings to be had for this one. Nothing but the blood of the innocent innocent all over her hands. And the beginning of the end of Titan as we knew it.
For it is none other than the biggest mistake in all of anime, GABI BRAUN.
Tumblr media
There's the look of a girl who's out to fuck an entire franchise.
To have to put her face on my profile truly makes me feel uncomfortable; I would feel better off if I never had to acknowledge the existence of someone as unlikable and as forced as Gabi, the character who has singlehandedly ensured that I will never EVER watch the series again from start to finish.
Still not enough words to describe my hatred for this bitch. Ever since her debut in the manga, Gabi has been nothing but poison to damn near every aspect of Attack on Titan, and while fans and critics may remain convinced that Eren Yeager was still the focus of the story after the ocean, that for a time was nothing but a motherfucking lie, as everything seems to shift its gears towards forcing Gabi Braun as the new hero of the franchise, a similarly overpowered, out of her depth suicidal bitch who Hajime Isayama REFUSES to let come to harm under any circumstances, and in fact seemed to take a perverse pleasure in how much he could defy the fandom's hostile reactions to her obnoxious, overzealous, and aggressive personality.
I've spoken at length about how truly awful Gabi is, for how much she takes over the story out of the blue and how far her worst fans will go to defend her, with Isayama himself and his overly defensive fans and critics pushing this nonsense "redemption arc" that some still insist was critical to Titan's final resolution. Right, a character who was only introduced in the final act of the story is the one who takes priority over everyone whom we've followed since season one, over her own fucking cousin Reiner, over Eren, over Mikasa, over Historia.....And that's not even getting into the biggest victim of all of this yet.
Yeah, this is the girl so many deluded fans will rush to defend, you take one look at this and you realize right out the gate she's nothing but bad news. An overly toxic character who by herself makes the story increasingly more uncomfortable to sit through, and yet gets a free pass because, say it with me now........"SHE'S JUST A KID"......
Yeah. A kid who regardless of upbringing clearly is NOT right in the head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yet THIS is the character we push this goddamn "break the cycle" message with, this is the kid who we have to thank for that "children of the forest" horseshit. Well maybe some people are not worth rescue from the forest......
Gabi just an open condescension of the audience, and Isayama does everything in his power to frame us as being in the wrong for following our natural inclination to hate her guts, and to force sympathy for her when she's done nothing to earn it, and has never received lasting consequences for her actions.
Any sympathy I could have POSSIBLY felt for Gabi went out the window years ago. And it all comes down to one fucking reason:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't matter how much time passes, it does not matter how many excuses I hear, it does not matter how many self-righteous little fuckheads I square off with online who try to hit back at me with "You just didn't get it!" ..........Absolutely NOTHING will make me forgive what Gabi did to Sasha. A character who had all the potential to be something so much more and who was so profoundly iconic in the series, just to be cruelly cut down like garbage to move the plot of an unwanted newbie who's name has since become synonymous with "garbage".
Never ever can I forget that horrifying from Assassin's Bullet, where Gabi stole Sasha from us. Gabi Braun is the only character in fiction to actually cause me lasting emotional and psychological damage. Of all the horrifying scenes Attack on Titan has given, that ISAYAMA has given us, Sasha bleeding out from the mouth and sent out on the most inappropriate and insensitive last words possible is the one scene I DID NOT NEED.
ALL BECAUSE OF GABI BRAUN!
Tumblr media
The fact that that bastard Isayama would be sol deluded to think he can force sympathy for Gabi after having pulled a stunt like that, a scene so emotionally manipulative and disrespectful, the fact that he would have us tolerate her existence after such a spectacle....And the fact that she survived to the end after what she did to Sasha, and after all she did to provoke Eren's assault upon the world, again after facing no lasting repercussions for any of it.
And let me tell you something, looking up these images, seeing those disgusting scenes of Assassin's Bullet still brings great anger to me, reminding me how badly I still wish to see Gabi die for all of this, how much I hate Hajime Isayama, and how much I still wish to personally rip the man a new one for everything he's done since the day he published the chapter that brought on this VILE piece of animation.
And the fact that some fans have the AUDACITY to imply that Sasha and Gabi are anything alike, right down to their physical appearance, a notion that the anime and manga themselves promoted in their tasteless attempt to draw a parallel between the two of them in their encounters with Kaya.....It's a lie and a farce that I find personally offensive and stomach churning even now. There were so many ways they could have executed Gabi's story, and if it had been done any other way where she didn't have such egregious plot armor and wasn't so clearly overplayed and overpromoted by Isayama for the entire final act, MAYBE somewhere in my heart I might've found a speck of sympathy for Gabi.
If the story had made room for her AND Sasha, things might have been very different around here......
Tumblr media
But it's far too late. The damage is done, and for me the damage is lasting. And there is absolutely NO number of excuses today by the few fans Gabi does have that could ever make me see things from her perspective, let alone wish her anything other than a cruel demise to match the one she dealt to Sasha and the billions she got killed by provoking Eren with her recklessness. And to this day, I will NEVER understand what the hell Falco ever saw in her. Nothing good can come from a relationship with someone with the kind of of blood on her hands that Gabi has.
So no sympathy points for Gabi, let alone a 'Happy Birthday'.
And as a parting gift to her and her fans....
Tumblr media
A little souvenir from a friend of mine...
If you haven't figured out who I got this from yet....... let's just say she manages to make a chainsaw headed dog a lot cuter than any living soul could have accomplished voicing Gabi Braun. And for her, I have a lot more respect.
And if you know who I mean Gabi fans, sorry to tell you I got to say my piece first. Chew on that.
And speaking of chew.....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy Birthday, Gabi Braun.
