happy i love amanda day!! ❤️
i've dropped by your ask box to talk about back from the dead if that's ok?
when i finished the series i got to thinking about way you wrote matt - i loved the whole fic from start to finish, but one of my favourite things was that this is the matt i always imagine when i'm writing fics or daydreaming, one who is (eventually) capable of a stable relationship, one who wants a family - a matt who can find some balance in his life - can you tell me about what inspired your story and why you chose to write matt in that way? do you think he'd make a good dad and what about him makes you think that? do you have any plans to write anymore about matt and sweetheart in the future?
thank you for sharing their story with us, it really was a joy to read!
So the inspiration of the story came from me being pregnant. Go figure, right? I was deep in my Matt feels and I just got to thinking, "what would happen if I put him in this scenario?" I knew it would be an incredible challenge for him and I wanted to write that. I honestly thought Back From The Dead would only be a couple of parts. Certainly not 10 chapters.
As for why I wrote Matt the way I did, I just fully believe him capable of a stable relationship, as long as he's with someone who understands his nightly habits. This is a man who wants, so desperately, to love and be loved. So, yes, I do think he's completely capable of a loving, stable relationship. I think at the end of season 3, we see a Matt who's had to learn that he needs a balance in his life. That he can be both lawyer and vigilante, if he has the support he needs.
So that's where Sweetheart comes in. She's been with him for some time and knows how he is. She's hurt that he would hide himself from her, let her think he was dead, but she also knows Matt's demons. Intimately. This isn't a new relationship. She's aware of the trauma he's been through and aware of the fight he faces every single day.
And I think that's why they work. Sweetheart helps keep him balanced and she knows how to comfort and take care of him. And vice versa. He knows every single thing about her as well.
I think Matt would make an incredible dad. He would, at first, be so scared and so worried he's going to mess things up. But once he gets that fear under control (cause it never goes away. Trust me), he's going to be incredible. He knows when the baby is hungry, needs a change, or just needs to be held. He's so perceptive to their cry, that he just knows what they need based on that alone. He's supportive and loving and so, so good with children. He listens to them like he would any adult and that always garners their trust.
As for plans to write more, yes I do. I want to write an epilogue for them at some point. Give yall a glance into their future. It'll probably be snapshots of different times. I don't want to give too much away, but I think yall will enjoy it.
I'm also open to doing one shots of them. If any of you ever have anything you're curious about (how they met, their first date, their first fight, sweetheart finding out about daredevil, etc.), please feel free to ask! I love those two so very much.
Thanks so much for this ask, Mindi! I'm glad I could write a Matt who fit so well for you 💖

Hey MV fans, we'd probably like you much better if you actually held your guy accountable, didn't constantly make excuses for him, and stopped calling out other drivers mistakes as a means to defend your driver. Also, the calling other drivers mentally weak just ain't it. The reason those drivers can go into their car in front of their family and friends despite knowing death can be right around the corner (literally) is because they're all so mentally strong, including Max. So stop discrediting someone's mental fortitude to big up your driver, because ironically enough, I'm pretty sure Max respects his colleagues enough to recognise their mental strength. I don't understand why you guys can't do the same, it won't kill you to respect the fact that all 20 members of that grid plus all the other men and women in motorsports are incredibly strong people, both mentally and physically.

TUBBO CHARACTER STUDY I DID BACK IN APRIL!!!
Tubbo as an animal hybrid Shapeshifer
Notes and HeadCannons down below :D
1- Because he is an orphan, he doesnt know how to control his shapeshifting abilities, so his body switches based on emotion. However, he is capable of switching at will if he concentrates enough and doesnt let his emotions overtake him
2- He is usually a bee cuz thats what he founds comfort in. So when he is having normal or not to extreme negative emotions, he has his bee characteristics But ever since schlatts administration, everytime he fells extreme stress, or something triggers his trauma, he grows horns
3- You can see I draw him with artificial horns in his armor and wedding outfit, and yall be like, "werent horns a sign for his trauma", and yes, yes they are But the idea of having artificial horns is his way of confronting and reclaiming his fear. And because they are artificial, he can take them off whenever he wants to. He has control over them instead of them having control over him. Its also worth mentioning that they were both gifts that ranboo made for him (Ranboos made his armor & i made the crown with that in mind)
4- If he wants to shapeshift, he has to learn more about the hybrid / animal, OR spend lots of time with a hybrid/animal of that species and slowly he can copy things and learn from them Thats how he usually does it, he grew up around bees, and he spend lots of time with schlatt. And yes, that means he could shapeshift into a piglin if he wanted, cuz of Michael But he doesnt cuz he also has bad memories because of Techno
5- His body strenght and ablities change too. Tubbo is someone whos already stronger than Tommy or Ranboo even as a bee, so if he ever shifts to a piglin, he would be pretty fucking strong
6- As a bee, HE CAN FLY. Not like Origins Tubbo, because he is not used to the wings yet, but he can fly around ranboos height or even more Still he forgets he has wings, thats why he takes lots of fall damage,,, he just forgets he has them And he starts flying when he is happy
7- Shapeshifting doesnt hurt him at all, he doesnt even realize when it happens. The horns grew overnight and he never knew about them until he saw a mirror
8- Because he doesnt know how to control it, the only shifts that happen quick are the ones carried by intense emotions Once he learns how to control his abilities, he could shapeshift between species in the blink of an eye
9- His shapeshifting abilities only work with animals / animal oriented hybrids or mobs Unlike quackity, who can shapeshift like a Ditto lets say, Tubbo has a limited rage and can only be a hybrid of the species, not shift fully to the animal/mob
10- As it is shown in the picture, he doesn’t have external ears (idk how you call them) he has the earholes hidden Yes, he Can shapeshift his body to have ears, but it rarely happens
11- Him being a hybrid bee means that he at least in a happy state of mind in general, that he haven’t reach rock bottom yet. I like to think the bee features also mean innocence to him, that’s why after the Manberg festival he lost them. But after the final disc war, in snowchester, he got them back, but this time they were different, he also got wings. Meaning he got his innocence/ childish nature back, but he still grew up he became less naive
12- Everyone knew he was a shapeshifter after the manberg festival, when his bee features disappear completely and he just looked like a normal human. But it became more obvious when the Ram horns started growing
13- during the Exile era, he hid his horns under Tommy’s bandana cuz he knew ppl would compare him to Schlatt, so he rarely took it off The only people who seen him without his bandana (bc he was comfortable enough to not wear it) were Tommy (during the disc finale) and Ranboo

I am just...honestly fascinated by this sudden ‘change of heart’ with Guillermo tho in regards to being a familiar and becoming a vampire, there’s a lot going on there and a lot to unpack, and I’m hoping somewhere in the depths of what is about to be a long, directionless rant I’ll find the clarity I haven’t seemed to quite grasp yet.
ALSO I’M SORRY THIS IS A LOOONG ASS POST BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO PUT IT UNDER A READ MORE AND SUBJECT INNOCENTS TO MY BLOG LOL, BUT I’VE TAGGED ACCORDINGLY
So, I already made a post about ‘Collaboration’ and some of the interesting subtext we get within that episode. Mainly, that this episode is an interesting one for Guillermo because he finally gets what appears to be and should be (at least at first) the opportunity he’s always been waiting for. To this point, across seasons, Guillermo has driven home that his one and only aspiration in life, the reason he tolerates an endless, shitty position, is because he hopes to become a vampire. He’s wanted it since he was a kid. IF HE CAN’T BECOME A VAMPIRE, WHAT HAS THIS ALL BEEN ABOUT??
If it was as simple as just wanting to become a vampire by any means necessary, leaving Nandor for this golden opportunity should have been as easy as taking off an ill-fitting pair of shoes...but it wasn’t that, was it? When Nandor pretended to shuck him off as if it didn’t matter, Guillermo got angry and sad in equal measure and only really brightened again when Nandor came back and promised to do better by him. Not necessarily set down a concrete timeline for the ‘becoming a vampire’ thing though, but Guillermo didn’t seem to care about that all that much anyway. Interesting.
Now we’re able to see a version of things in which Guillermo is being treated better as a familiar, but rather than this development improving his mood he seems all the more aware of the fact now that...maybe he doesn’t even want to be a vampire anymore. Maybe he’s wasting his time here. Maybe he needs to swim towards open waters, so to speak.
Very similar to Nandor, Guillermo, I think, is not really aware or fully accepting of the inner workings of his own mind. He strikes me as a character that does a lot in the way of burying the truths of himself so far down, he even convinces himself that part of who he is doesn’t really exist- even when it does, and drives a lot of his actions. The show plays to this by only ‘showing’ us concretely how much Guillermo wants us to know, with only small hints and nods to other things going on. That fits and rings true to the norm for a mockumentary style of filming/writing, in that the audience has to rely on a lot of subtle cues from the subjects to figure out what’s ‘really going on’ with a character or plot line; the ‘camera’ in a mockumentary style piece is as much of a visceral, present character as anyone else in the cast and is treated accordingly (but then, like 99.99999% of human beings have seen the entirety of The Office and Parks and Rec, so yall know this already)
I think part of the way to figuring this all out is to ask why Guillermo wanted to be a vampire in the first place. His answer to this would probably be something along the lines of ‘because they’re cool’ which, you know, valid. That would be a fitting and satisfying answer if, say, I had given it because there was a time when I was about 4-6 years old that I, too, decided I would grow up to be a vampire. Because it was ‘cool’ and aspiring to anything else seemed boring. Again, valid. For someone who has dedicated pretty much ALL of his adult life to apprenticing into vampirism based on a childhood dream that never died? THAT begs a bit more of an in depth reason, I think, to which for now we can only guess.
I’ll try to make an educated one based on what I believe is going on here, that Guillermo himself is either not aware of or not ready to share with the cameras: I believe his drive to want to become a vampire, given it was based in childhood flights of fancy (and probably some Guillermo-self insert/Armand fanfics, let’s be hONEST) was rooted in a need to feel respected and powerful, at the heart of things. When we first meet Guillermo, and for much of season 1, we see that he’s quiet, subservient, meek, and we learn briefly about how he was bullied in school. I think Guillermo was raised to be this way and use silence/subservience as his only defense mechanism, which may also go a long way to explaining why he’s so reserved. For 10 years, I think it was enough for him to tell himself that everything would be better for him once he became a vampire, he’d have all the things he never had as a human. Respect. Appreciation. Power. Control over his own life.
That said, things have changed quite a bit for Guillermo since season one. While learning that he had Van Helsing blood came as an unpleasant shock, embracing and exploring that side of himself proved that he’s actually kind of a bad ass even without being a vampire. He only ever wielded this power to protect Nandor and others so far, but it is a power nonetheless, this agility and strength that is too great for even VAMPIRES to successfully fight back against. He’s also a smart cookie that knows how to manipulate a situation, something that he’s been using a lot this season too. So, power, then. He has it already. Respect he received from his vampire-hunting group.
But that still leaves appreciation and, dare I say it, maybe even affection/love. I think there’s a part of Guillermo that wants to feel like he’s accepted and cared for, but even when it’s offered (by groups like his vampire hunting clan, or Celeste’s vampire community lol) he seems to shy away from it going too far, like it’s just too much or ill-fitting coming from people he barely knows. Given that he’s a private, introvert type this makes sense.
One thing has remained consistent for Guillermo though, across both seasons and episodes, and that’s his seemingly unwavering concern and affection for Nandor. Even in this last ep when he’s unashamedly shucking off duties that don’t fit his job description and maintaining those professional boundaries like a BOSS, he still snaps to and gets to work the moment Nandor is kidnapped. Laszlo’s gone? Meh, who cares, not his jurisdiction. Nandor’s gone!?? Fuck it, he’s getting the keys. A ‘vampire’ offers him the opportunity of a lifetime to become a vampire quickly and live within an accepting community of likeminded people and Nandor told him ‘go for it’? He’s upset that Nandor didn’t fight harder to keep him.
So now he’s back and Nandor’s making a consistent effort not to abuse Guillermo’s position. This seemed the ideal resolution at the end of ‘Collaboration’, but after a couple of weeks it becomes clear that it wasn’t. For some reason. Guillermo’s no longer satisfied and thinks maybe it’s time to do more with his life.
I’ll try to sum up the points I’ve made so far into a concise version of where I think Guillermo’s at right now, at least subconsciously; mostly all the things he hoped that turning into a vampire would grant him, have already been granted. He’s learned that he’s strong, smart, capable as is, more than he or anyone else had ever given him credit for. I think it makes sense that his burning need to become a vampire has begun to ebb into a quarter-life crisis of questioning who he really is and what he really wants, because the dream he nursed for so long has turned out to be pretty shallow and maybe not even necessary. He realizes there’s more he could be doing than working tirelessly to an end goal that no longer seems so sweet.
But that leaves the ‘affection’ and ‘acceptance’ elements dangling in space, held up by his own affection for Nandor that has yet to be really defined. It’s pretty clear that Guillermo is nursing it hard, but what is the nature of it? Even as his sense of loyal devotion to a cause has started to fade, even as his view of Nandor as this unflappable role model has begun to disappear too bc he’s starting to see Nandor for who he really is (a himbo idiot that he can outwit, outmatch without even trying hard) this raw affection still remains. It’s still important that Nandor fights for him. It’s still important that Nandor is safe and protected.
And, as with the rest of these things I mentioned, I don’t think Guillermo is even really aware of how much he cares about Nandor, how much it drives his actions and thinking, how important that relationship is to him. It’s easier to just sort of...ignore that and pretend it isn’t a factor, that’s Guillermo’s modus operandi when it comes to complicated feelings.
I think back to that line from season 1, wherein Guillermo’s kind of musing wistfully about how different his life might have been if he’d stayed at Panera Bread/in a stable job with pay and benefits, but then handwaves that all away with ‘The heart wants what it wants’. By this point in the show he was already kind of drifting away from the goal of becoming a vampire (whether he realized it or not).
The heart wants what it wants indeed, Guillermo, but maybe it’s not really ‘becoming a vampire’. Maybe it’s something else entirely that keeps you tied to this house, this thankless ‘job’.
At this point, I really cannot say for 100% certain what I think will happen next with Guillermo. This show has proven solid at pulling out unexpected plot twists I wouldn’t have seen coming, but then, I also have been pretty good at predicting where they’re gonna go with things. Like 7/10 lmao. My two theories right now are:
He’ll become a vampire in the series finale- unwillingly, maybe by accident. This one I think is plausible because it’s a bit of a kick in the pants. It’s the outcome he’s wanted for SO LONG but has just realized maybe it’s not all he can do or wants to do. I could see a situation where, idk, maybe Guillermo expresses to Nandor his thoughts lately about moving on from this and, in an act of stupid desperation, Nandor thinks maybe if he changes him that’ll keep him in his life, so he does it while Guillermo’s asleep and then surprises him when he wakes up...only to find out maybe that wasn’t actually what he wanted anymore, but UH OH what’s done is done. This could provide a lot of tension in the next season, I think. But as it’s a bit of a ‘shocking’ twist type route to go, I can’t be certain this is what they’ll do. Kind of a toss up.
Guillermo leaves to pursue something else, which the camera crew will follow and document. This is the ‘sensible’/’safe’ route that most scripted shows would take, I think, in this situation...but again, I’m not certain about this one either because Shadows is known for throwing us for a loop and this seems a liiiittle predictable. It’s also very similar to what JUST happened in episode 8 and, were I writing the show, I’d worry it would come across as redundant. Like, maybe we already did this angle and should explore other options to keep the audience on their toes. Also, as much as they love putting Harvey with new casts of characters for episodic stories, I’m not sure they’d transplant him from the main cast for an extended period of time because he’s part of what makes that dynamic run so well. But then, the synopsis of the finale does say that vampires have to ‘survive without Guillermo’ while preparing for an event, so this may happen in some small, episodic measure again.
Anyway, to wrap this up into a conclusion, I don’t think I’m wrong in predicting that Nandor/Guillermo’s relationship has been set up in such a way as to keep us guessing, sort of a Sam/Diane, will-they-won’t-they type thing that will remain a constant throughout whatever happens next, but will require both characters growing independent of each other in their own respective subplots. At this point, it has always remained consistent that Nandor and Guillermo prioritize each other even when it doesn’t make sense, but I don’t think either of them are ready to realize, accept, and sort through the layers of what they feel for each other. The master/servant dynamic makes that difficult, I’d imagine, so I think inevitably we’ll see the show start to pull them away from that. All I’m saying is, if whatever is going on between them wasn’t VERY complicated it would’ve been resolved as whatever it is a long time ago. Nah, there’s some deep, repressed shit they’re ignoring collectively for whatever reason, and usually that points to something that will, at some point, become romantic. Either way, to understand Guillermo is to keep a close eye on how his dynamic with Nandor grows and changes and I’m, as ever, VERY eager to see how it does.

9x12 sharp teeth
#1: sam walks into the hospital room, and dean says nothing. he makes sam break the silence first. dean can’t even be bothered to ask if sam's okay.
time tag: 2:10
#2: he asks sam where he’s coming from, and sam says new mexico. that is all their conversation has been so far. dean decides it’s a great time to seek some attention
“considering that i’ve got this, uh...pretty much covered, so if you want to...” [ clicks tongue and motions leaving ]
sam drove all this way to see his friend in the hospital, and dean is basically like, “uh :( im here and so are you, and i know you hate me so you can go :( if you want. 😔” instead of just asking how sam is
time tag: 2:40
#3: wants to inject garth with adrenaline to wake him up???
sam: “whoa. hey! what is that? adrenaline?”
dean: “yes, sir.”
sam: “you trying to jump-start him or kill him?”
dean: “i want some answers. he walked out on kevin. he walked out on us. so if you got a better idea...”
the better idea is probably not to inject someone with a drug without their consent...that’s always the better idea, just fyi.
time tag: 3:10
#4: a rape joke. yup.
dean: “anything on gadreel?”
sam: “actually, uh, yeah. turns out he, uh, he left some grace in me before he bolted.”
dean: “you know how wrong that sounds, right?”
sam: “wouldn’t worry about it. cas took care of it.”
dean: laughs
sam: “what?”
dean: “nothing. i’m gone for two weeks, and you’re like an episode of ‘teen mom’”
sam: 😕
time tag: 4:43
#5: lied to sam. said that there was no information to be found about garth’s disappearance, so they won’t be able to find him. sam is standing 5 feet away and knows he’s lying, he confronts him, and dean says
“i told you we can’t hunt together. it’s for your own good.”
as if sam isn’t a man in his 30s fully capable of making his own decisions. also, another pity party was thrown by dean! wasn’t fun.
time tag: 7:15
#6: “what are you doing? she’s a werewolf.” (said to garth) excellent detective skills, dean. also, remember how in s8, dean basically claims he gives monsters a chance, and other hunters don’t? so funny. so funny how he proves himself wrong time and time again.
time tag: 8:54
#7: he’s so disgusted that garth is married to a werewolf.
time tag: 20:28
#8: i’m vegan, so this is one of the funniest things dean has ever said
garth: “we don’t hurt people”
dean: “no. you just go all wolverine on cattle”
yall gotta see the irony of the “meat man” saying this....
time tag: 10:39
#9: he was disrespectful to bess’s family. garth even had to call him out on it.
time tag: 14:40
#10: how many times is dean gonna prove to us that he doesn’t respect native americans...
werewolf church leader: “we’re more spiritual than we are religious. we believe, much like the american indians did, that nature and man are one.”
dean: “yeah, really worked out well for them...”
time tag: 16:00
#11: i cannot emphasize enough how rude dean is to garth’s newfound family. he has proven time and time again how he cannot handle people who deviate from the norm. so just.....think ab that.
time tag: whole first half of the episode
#12: wants to kill garth after 1 werewolf in his family turns out evil. sam says no. so dean barks orders at him and makes him clean up the crime scene alone.
time tag: 23:11
#13: sam is confronting dean about ditching him on the bridge. dean makes everything about himself again.
time tag: 37:23
#14: he again tries to make being ”family” the excuse for everything he does. sam snaps back
sam: ”you say that like it’s some sort of cure-all, like it can change the fact that everything that has ever gone wrong between us has been because we’re family.”
and he’s not wrong.
#15: he obviously misunderstood what sam meant when he said "if you want to work? let's work. if you want to be brothers...."
sam is basically saying that they need to work on their relationship before he can trust him again. dean cannot keep putting family above all reason because dumb decisions keep being made as a result. HOWEVER, they can still work together, because they've been doing that their whole lives. and it's what they're best at. but sam wants that work done on equal grounds. he is NOT saying they aren't brothers anymore.
time tag: the end

Can you just elaborate on why you like Mary? She literally used Arthur for her own gain. I get not wanting to be in that life, but she expects him to change rather than just letting it go. She leads him on.
Okay, I feel 10 years of my life strip away every time I have to explain this to someone again so I don't wanna hear a peep outta yall after this unless I make a new post about it lmao
Also big disclaimer: I have no beef with people who hate Mary or this anon. If I sound a little aggressive it's because I get into explaining stuff I care about dw
Firstly, don't state your opinion as fact.
she didn't 'literally use him'
She asked him for help twice?? You literally had the choice to say no, she didn't force you to do anything??? Why are people fully raging at her for asking for help, all the NPCs in the game ask him for help. It's a video game. This is the normal way for plot to progress and for characters to interact.
I don't know any women I pine for because I wanted to marry them until dramatic circumstances meant we could never be together so I suppose I can't be sure BUT if an old friend who I hadn't seen in years, who I'd once cared about but for whatever reason we don't talk anymore, asked me to help them because their brother joined a cult and I was as capable of doing so as Arthur is...I would obviously help? I'm not that much of a prick like how bitter would I have to be to be like 'nah screw you actually.'
I find it kinda hilarious imagining Arthur having a little tantrum "no! I won't help you because you wouldn't marry me and I'm still sulking like 15 years later!"
I always accept when she asks for help because I couldn't possibly imagine why you'd say no to that.
Also like I said, this is a video game. How else would they of incorporated her into the story? She suddenly joins the gang and becomes an outlaw too?? The only way is if Arthur is helping her in some way lets be real.
RIGHT now for the whole not marrying him/asking him to change
It blows my MIND yall are upset with her for asking him to change ajdjkf
Okay it's easier said than done and I completely understand why Arthur can't do that but it makes perfect sense she'd want him to.
1) being an outlaw is dangerous. How many times does Arthur nearly die? In the end it's being in that gang and doing Strauss' dirty work that DOES get him killed. So either she gets killed for being with him or she has to watch him get killed instead. Sounds great.
2) being an outlaw means he's always wanted and always on the run, not a lot of people want that lifestyle. Is Mary really a horrible person because she doesn't want to leave her family and her home and EVERYTHING behind to be hunted down for the rest of her life?
I'm not going to go super into this because I can't be bothered right now but this is 1899, when Arthur first proposed it was even before that. Women didn't even have the vote and wouldn't for YEARS yet. Women were seen as their fathers property until they got married when they became their husbands property. Arthur is especially angry with her father for a REASON. Mary would of had very little to absolutely no say in who she married unless she eloped which would mean being disowned by her family.
So maybe you're thinking "well then the bitch should of eloped!" Okay so she could never see anyone in her family ever again and they'd hate her forever. Could Arthur of done that with the gang? He doesn't even talk back to Dutch until he's literally dying of TB and has nothing left to lose. Going against family isn't so easy. If it was the other way around, Arthur would have to go against Dutch (the controlling father who Mary also has) and leave John behind (the bean brain little brother Mary ALSO HAS)
Aaand yall also say she was leading him on and on.
This one I see where you're coming from a little. I just don't think it comes from a place of malice. A couple of things tell me she truly never stopped loving him.
1) She kept the ring! All those years and she'd kept it with her. She says she never stopped thinking of him and there's the proof of that. She also kept a photograph of them together just as he had a photo of her in his tent throughout the game.
2) she asked him AGAIN to run away with her. The offer was there!! She waited for him and he robbed a bank instead. What more could she of done? As much as I understand why Arthur had to finish his business with the gang he basically stood her up.
She might of broken his heart but he broke her right back. Maybe she gives him false hope but he does just the same with his 'once I get enough money' and 'just one more big job' like wowee he sounds like Dutch. It'll never be enough money and it'll never be a last job unless he's dead. He knows that and she knows that and it's a tragedy.
Do I think Mary is perfect? No of course not. Both of them made mistakes and it was a tragic situation, thats the whole point. Do I think she deserves the enormous amounts of hate she gets in the fandom? Absolutely not. Another character who gets a lot of hate from what I've seen is Abigail. It's almost as of...yall hate the female characters...who ruin your ships!! :000 who'd of thunk it.
I'm 100% sure that if we experienced the story from her perspective she'd get less hate but lets be honest, she'd still get hate because female characters always get more hate.
Like I said this is my take and I don't wanna hear a PEEP. I don't want to get frustrated repeating myself to people making the same three points over and over again.
EDIT: OH SHI i forgot to mention
When Arthur first goes to see her in Valentine he says something like 'so you're husband died and now you're looking for me is that it?' And she says 'no that's not it.' If she was being manipulative or leading him on she wouldn't of been so clear. She would of either said something vague to give him hope that if he does this favour for her then she'll be with him or outright lied and said that was the case BUT SHE DOESN'T she's 100% clear and honest and tells him the reason she wrote him was for help.

Time to Barn Hard
Here we go... With under 24 hours until the kickoff of Auburn’s 2020 season, the luminaries here at College & Magnolia offer their sage opinions on what Tiger fans will see tomorrow afternoon. Most of us see a close contest destined to give us that all too familiar fall Saturday heartburn but there are a few brave souls who are prepared to barn hard no matter what.
Auburn (-7.5) vs Kentucky (O/U 49.5)
2019 Auburn fans won’t recognize 2020 Auburn. Bo Nix is going to take a huge leap forward. His receivers are healthy for game one. Our fearless leader has finally found someone he trusts enough to manage playcalling duties. The defense will reload with All-Conference (and maybe All-American) talent. A talented (and deep!) group of hard-hitting running backs. Pre-season optimism has overwhelmed pre-game jitters for me. Look for Chad Morris to show off all his weapons Saturday. He has a tendency to put up a lot of points in his first game at a new school. Brace yourselves, Wildcats. Let’s barn hard, yall.

I was talking with a friend of my wife’s the other day and she asked how I thought Auburn would do. I was raised by an old school Auburn fan who taught me to sandbag and say that we were just hoping that everyone buckled their chin straps correctly and that they just had fun out there. That was met with my wife telling her, I always do this. I responded by saying that I just lower the bar so that, when they win by 40 in a game I don’t expect, I get the rush of being a kid again and genuinely happy when Auburn wins.
That said! HERE WE GO!
Auburn has got stars everywhere on the outside and in the backfield but a bunch of green horns on the starting line on offense, so IF Chad Morris (or Gus if he is still calling the plays) can use quick screens and....this route called a slant...to hide the fact that the Auburn offensive line will look a lot like the French army circa 1938, then they might buy a few chances for Anders to kick some field goals.
On defense, you don’t lose D Brown and Marlon and get better. You probably don’t maintain the production you had last year on the D-Line. You can get back there, but that takes time and experience. That said, I am a bit more bullish on the defense as a whole. There is a ton of talent to go around on the line and the secondary and the Linebackers may be the best in the conference. Once again, the defense will keep Auburn in every game for the most part. And that new line will be tested against a really well coached, running offense that Kentucky brings to the Plains.
I love what Mark Stoops has been able to build in Lexington, and sort of done what Matt Campbell has done at Iowa State, that team you just don’t want to see cause they are scrappy and will take advantage of your mistakes. On the betting lines, I am staying away from this one with spendy cashy monies but with fakey non-existant moneies, I love the Cats getting a touchdown and a hook because I see this one being in the 3-4 range with Auburn probably winning, just based on history and going with my heart, but I could totally see Kentucky pulling this off as well.
Gimme Auburn over Kentucky 27-24 and the defense had to get a late stop to seal this one away. Nothing like a late missed FG to start that stomach ulcer.
(betting pick: UK and the points, Over at 51)

Auburn *should* win this game. Auburn *should* have the talent advantage. But hey, this is 2020. Who knows what havoc Covid will have wrought on install for any given team.
That being said, I trust Bo Nix’s development as a true sophomore. I think this Auburn team, while still going through some growing pains, will finally start to hit on explosive plays with a veteran WR corps. This Kentucky defense is not the one that one 10 games two years ago.
The only way things go sideways is if the retooled defensive line can’t stop the Kentucky ground game, which is an extremely valid concern. The Wildcats have three returning backs who combined for 1,900 yards and 18 TDs while sharing the spotlight with Lynn Bowden Jr last year, and Terry Wilson is no slouch. I think the Auburn linebackers are going to have to earn their keep as best LB group in the SEC here in week 1.
Auburn takes this one with some big plays through the air and a defense that bucks up in the second half. 27-13 Auburn.
-Ryan Sterritt
I’m a huge proponent of playing a patsy in week 1. In a normal season fall camp doesn’t really give a complete picture of how an offensive line communicates in real time, how well the quarterback has his timing down with his receivers, if the tailback has fumbling problems, mike linebacker being able to switch the defensive alignment based on tendencies, etc. etc. But if you can’t play a patsy I’m a huge proponent of playing a top 10 team who will keep you engaged without distractions leading up to kickoff and will tell you so much about where you can go from here. What you don’t want is a trap game in week 1.
Folks what we have here is a trap game in week 1.
We’re 14 points better than Kentucky. I genuinely believe that. Talent wise and coaching we’re at least 2 scores better than this football team at home. And it does not matter one bit thanks to COVID.
I am so concerned over what we’re going to look like out there considering how many guys were held out at various points of our extended fall camp thanks to COVID. Which wouldn’t be as big of a deal in a normal year, even though it would still be a big deal, but OH YEAH WE HAD NO SPRING PRACTICE. So in keeping with my tradition of being absolutely God awful at Barnin’ Hard, this tiger ain’t changing his stripes for this one.
Keys to victory:
- Stop a Kentucky ground attack with a defensive line that is fully capable of plugging the gaps and have your linebackers make plays in space. This will only work if our corners, who will be in a lot of one on one situations, make plays. Jaylin Simpson is the guy that will get picked on, and this is a fine opportunity for the redshirt freshman to get thrown into the deep end to see if he’ll sink or swim in his first meaningful snaps. If he can hold his own, we’re in good shape.
- Establish an intermediate passing attack early in this game. Keep their defense off balance early on the offensive script and allow Bo Nix and an offensive line that will struggle but has a higher ceiling than that of the last 2 seasons gain some confidence early.
- Get the fastest player in all of college football 10 touches/targets for the day. This one may appear in all 10 entries of “Keys to Victory” for our schedule this year. Scheme to get Anthony Schwartz the ball in multiple ways. And then scheme off of it to get other players in positions to be in favorable coverages.
- Rotate your running backs in a way that makes sense instead of giving the “guy with the hot hand” 25 carries. This running back room is deeper and more talented than it has been since the healthy parts of 2016/2017 for Pettway and KJ. Give these guys a chance to punish Kentucky’s defense with fresh legs for 4 quarters. Make them hate playing us.
- Oh, and finally, get some sound sleep and show up alert for an 11 AM kickoff. I don’t need to explain to any of you why this is obviously something we should all worry over.
All in all I think being at home does matter, despite 20,000 people in the stands. Traveling in these uncertain times has to account for something, right?
Auburn 27 Kentucky 21
-Josh Black
If the first few weeks of football are any indication, I’m expecting some low scoring sloppy games on Saturday. And while Auburn’s rivals have essentially “warmup games” to start their season, Auburn will play another ranked opponent in Week 1. That’s JABA right?
Anyways, I’m really excited to see this group of Running Backs led by Captain Shaun Shivers this season. I’m really excited to see Shaun get the opportunity to start and it’ll be interesting to see how many carries he and the rest of the RBs get on Saturday. This is an experienced receiving corps too led by Seth Williams, “Flash” Anthony Schwartz and veteran Eli Stove.
The biggest question to me (other than the offensive line) will be the defensive line as it’s hard replacing Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson. And we can all hope for better O-Line play this season and a more mature Bo Nix as he enters Year 2 as the starting QB.
As I said earlier, I’m thinking this is a low-scoring game and I’m a bit concerned about this one, with the 11AM kick and all but I’ll take Auburn in a close one.
Auburn 17 Kentucky 14
-Will McLaughlin
I firmly believe Auburn has a significant talent advantage at the skill positions in this matchup. Yes the Cats have an athletic QB, a strong stable of backs, intriguing WRs and a surprisingly good secondary but across the board I’ll take Auburn. However, it won’t matter if the Tigers lose the line of scrimmage battle which is way more likely than any of us wanna imagine.
As you have probably read, heard, seen by now, Kentucky has one of the best offensive lines in the country. This isn’t a group made up of 3-star kids with heart. Left tackle Landon Young was a 5-star recruit. Center Drake Jackson was a 4-star ranked as a top 150 player. Future NFLer Darian Kinnard was a 4-star recruit as well. This is both an experienced AND talented front who enjoy physically beating the hell out of their opponents. Everyone in the world knew that a run play was likely coming last fall and it rarely mattered. While I trust Rodney Garner & Kevin Steele to rebuild this front 4 for the Tigers, I am concerned about them being ready to go week 1. Even with Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson last year, Oregon pushed around the Tigers for one half. This UK OL is of the same calibre and it wouldn’t shock me if they came out the gate with similar success.
Then there’s the other side of the ball where the UK return plenty of experience of a solid front 7. However, they were actually pretty porous against the run last fall allowing over 5 yards a carry against SEC competition. The problem is I am not sure if Auburn is ready to take advantage. In most years, when I see a defense susceptible to the run, I expect an AU victory that borders on dominant. I just don’t know if the Tigers though will be ready to go on Saturday.
That’s why Anders Carlson will be the x-factor. I think Auburn’s offense will look disjointed but generate enough explosive plays to get into UK territory consistently. They don’t put the ball in the end zone as much as we would like but Anders knocks through 4 big kicks. The defense rebounds from a rough first quarter to limit the UK offense to only 2 touchdowns on the day. Auburn recovers a late onside kick to escape with a hard won victory.

Most of the time I have some idea of what to expect. There’s a gut feeling, an inkling, an intuition. Even days when I publicly avow a big win, and we end up losing, I realize that I knew it deep in my soul. This time, I have nothing. I guess that’s what 2020 will do to a man. I can’t pick this game with my heart or my gut, so I have to go with the limited knowledge that we’ve been able to glean from the practice fields. Somehow, Gus has kept it tighter than usual this season. He’s keeping spies, leaks, and COVID out of the fold.
It’s not a big secret that Auburn’s level of talent is superior across the board, but Kentucky might have the mix of experience to go along with its skill to make this a very scary opening contest. We’ve heard that the Wildcats’ lines are both going to be solid, and that gives us a flashback of what the Oregon offense was able to do for about a half last year in Arlington. Auburn can’t afford a slow start on Saturday, because we’ll be breaking in a new offensive line. Now, that might not be the worst thing in the world — our line last year was nothing much to write home about — but they started to get better down the stretch. That said, this year’s group might be more maulers than linemen. Sometimes you just need some dudes being guys up front to push people around. We might have that, thus the run game could come to life with a much more talented group in the backfield. Not to mention, Bo Nix’s sophomore development with a true quarterback coach could be something unparalleled.
Kentucky will give us a fight, but there’s no way I’m picking us to lose this game. It’ll probably be close, and uncomfortably so for a while I’d wager. Still, the home “crowd” and the overall talent win out in the end. I think someone else mentioned Anders Carlson being a weapon in this one, and I agree. I think he hits 3 kicks and Auburn scores 3 touchdowns. Tigers 30-21.
-Jack Condon
In our preseason predictions I pegged this as one of the three games that Auburn could lose, and had it at the top of my list as the one I’m most worried about. That may seem weird, but we really just have no clue how any team, including our own is going to look on Saturday. We’ve all seen how bad some of these other teams already playing have looked, and I guess people think that there’s no way their own team could look that bad, but I’m not so sure. That said, I believe this Auburn team has all the components necessary to be better than last season and thus easily handle a Kentucky team that is, well they’re Kentucky. The new look offense should give an older, more seasoned Bo Nix a chance to throw some higher percentage passes, we have an SEC caliber stable of running backs for the first time in a couple of seasons, and presumably a fully healthy group of receivers. The new-look offensive line doesn’t concern me at all, because, well, I’ve lived through the last two seasons. At this point Kevin Steele and co. have earned my utmost confidence that the defense will pick up right where they left off.
Tigers 37 - Cats 12
-AU Chief
Man alive I wish I wasn’t so worried about this. Kentucky is well coached. They know what they are, and they don’t try to do things outside their comfort zone. Their strengths could cause problems for us. And yet, Auburn has more talent. 2020 is going to be a weird year, but I think having better athletes is going to win out more often than not, because teams are going to have to keep things simple. I like everything I’m hearing out of fall camp. I still don’t know about that line though. I could see a backdoor cover for UK where Auburn has to recover an onside kick to clinch things. I could see a front door cover for Auburn putting the game away late. I’ll stay on the safe side.
Auburn 24
Kentucky 17

[ Bc yall have foolishly greenlit my Nirvash Headcanon production, here is a general discussion of who I think Nirvash is and I’ll thank you to give me excuses to be more specific. ]
First things first. The Nirvash is the first creature Eureka ever had a conversation with or considered her friend. While Eureka had to learn to speak to people, the ability to communicate with her own kind is one of the few things she was born knowing, so she took to Nirvash right away. The Nirvash is unfortunately one of the main factors that ended up landing her as an emotionally stunted military dog instead of having a normal life where she is nurtured and fully educated by humans. I honestly think if the folks in the lab hadn’t realized her piloting potential, Eureka would have been raised as a completely different person. Since science had never been able to crack the Nirvash typeZERO, she was very valuable to have. They didn’t waste their budget on anything else once they knew that.
I also think the Nirvash had never been called Nirvash by people prior to the discovery of Eureka. Nirvash was exclusively called the typeZERO until Eureka was able to communicate enough to tell humans the name.
Vaguely related, Eureka’s name is also not human given because she is named after an event experienced by the scub coral and it doesn’t make sense to me that humans in 11005 or whatever would think to name her after something that happened in like 2005.  Eureka’s name comes from the very first time Scub Coral entered Earth’s atmosphere, where it crashed into a satellite and was forced to make a home in the Earth’s oceans. Based on what Sakuya says, it’s likely that the whole of the coralian system became aware when it was decided Eureka would be born. Nirvash likely told Eureka her own name if she didn’t already know it herself.
Tumblr media
Archetypes are sexless, so as one might expect, Nirvash doesn’t have a particular concept or interest in gender identity. Eureka calls Nirvash “he” in the original series dub and “she” in all future adaptations. I suspect that using “he” might have originally been a mistake by the localization team since Nirvash isn’t voiced until the very end and the Japanese language doesn't really ever require a speaker to designate a gendered pronoun. Whether it was a mistake or on purpose, I tend to explain this by just saying that Eureka copied the words other people used whenever she would personify the Nirvash to them. That would be in line with her character.
Eureka also speaks about Nirvash like a child quite often even though Nirvash is most certainly an older life form than she is. I suspect this is to do with a difference in experience and the higher barriers of understanding for a creature like Nirvash. Put simply, Nirvash is a less developed creature than Eureka is.
In the AU movie archetypes arent the same type of creature as in the main series--they were made or evolved differently.  In the film, the Larval Nirvash is somewhat intelligent. Larval Nirvash pays attention to people and tries to participate in conversations despite being unable speak. 10/10 very tiny and cute and runs around, always doing their best.
Tumblr media
I honestly believe that main series Nirvash has a similar temperament and level of intelligence to this AU iteration.  Also, the way Eureka speaks about Nirvash, like a child, in my mind supports the idea that the Nirvash is capable only of very simple thoughts and ideas early on. Nirvash isn't enlightened, per se. At least not at the beginning. Nirvash is a failed attempt at making a person. It makes sense that Nirvash would be less advanced.  If we could hear Nirvash's early conversations with Eureka, I suspect Nirvash's interests and concerns would sound pretty simplistic. I hesitate to compare Nirvash to any stage of human development tbh, mostly because it seems like Nirvash is very intelligent about certain things (like in battle, Nirvash makes very strategic choices), but probably couldn't even match a toddler on other things. Emotional intelligence, for example, is probably something that takes a while for Nirvash to pick up even the tiniest shred of.  Still, Nirvash's wants and feelings do seem to become slightly less simplistic over time. Still simple compared to a person, but the feedback Eureka gives originally is like "nirvash is happy" and by the end it's more like "nirvash feels x complex way because of what they did when x happened and how it turned out". Put simply, Nirvash knows what Nirvash knows, but not much else. Nirvash is maybe like Eureka in that regard. They're in their own weird stage of development where some of their stats are maxed and some of them are like...what are you even doing.  I also pretty strongly headcanon that, like Eureka, Nirvash's understanding of the world and of humans is growing as the series progresses, which I think is fairly substantiated but rarely addressed directly.
As the audience we don't get to see the way Nirvash communicates very often, especially not in any direct easy-to-be-understood-by-people fashion. If you want to learn anything about Nirvash as a viewer you have to speculate based on the few times Nirvash displays some will of her own, or go by the very little information Eureka gives about what Nirvash is thinking. Eureka is somewhat private about her relationship with Nirvash at times, which I find interesting, but that’s a topic for another post.
I pretty strongly headcanon that Nirvash sort of dislikes people, or at the very least, mistrusts the ones she doesn’t know.  I believe this because Nirvash outright refuses to be piloted, even by people with compac drives.  Compac drives are the "keys" humans use to communicate with LFOs, but LFOs cant really communicate back. We know that Nirvash for whatever reason really didnt want to be piloted, but then Nirvash met Eureka and felt willing to activate for her because they could converse and agree on things. No compac drive required for that.  Nirvash will fly for Eureka because they can have a relationship that is a two way street.  It doesn’t require the kind of faith Nirvash would need to let a human do whatever they wanted.
I suspect when Eureka is piloting there is a lot of give and take. They're discussing what they should do.  They compromise on a course of action by combining their understanding.  The trouble any time there is something going on between the Nirvash and Eureka is that it's not a conversation the audience gets to hear. We just have to watch and do our best to interpret
I think that over time Nirvash comes to appreciate and even like some humans and seeks methods of communication with ones she vibes with.  Ultimately the Nirvash does become more able to understand and commune with people because Eureka acts as a cultural bridge between them.   I really like the idea that Nirvash becomes interested in communicating with humans in the limited ways available to her, but only after spending a lot of time with Eureka and taking a shine to Renton. I also know the show gives Nirvash a clear human sounding voice that makes understandable words but I honestly hc that Nirvash sounds more abstract than that in most situation. Like idk, machine noises, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites™ or something like that.  I think if a human was able to hear Nirvash in any passive sort of way, it probably wouldn’t really sound like language. Eureka can always understand Nirvash but if you're Renton or maybe Ao just hanging around and are somehow catching bits and pieces of that consciousness floating in the air it's gonna feel weird and garbled in your brain unless you're able to make that more direct connection with the Nirvash somehow. It's just not natural to humans, it's not their first language.
Tumblr media
On the subject of Nirvash getting on with humans, there is eventually a situation where Renton has to pilot the Nirvash himself. This is on the tail end of Eureka being really down and not really explaining why.  Sometimes when she touches the Nirvash she starts to bleed and it becomes clear that The Girls Are Fighting™️. When Eureka sees Renton piloting she is taken aback by the fact that Nirvash would allow somebody other than her to pilot alone. Also, she comments on how that's 'not Nirvash's style'. It's left ambiguous what exactly her meaning is there, but she becomes pretty upset. There are a few ways I've interpreted it, though it's hard to pin down exactly. One possibility is that she’s upset because Renton and Nirvash Did A Violence. Alternatively it could be because the fighting Eureka saw from them was obviously more of Renton's own will than the give and take she prefers with the Nirvash. Another option is that Renton is not imposing his will, but rather bringing out something in Nirvash Eureka doesn't recognize and isn't comfortable with being a stranger to. Eureka is at this point very stressed that the Nirvash wont talk to her. She seems to go from very excited that Renton makes the Nirvash happy to very distressed that Renton is changing her relationship with the Nirvash. Nirvash is probably one of the only relationships Eureka has where she is comfortable and feels she is on the same page nearly all the time, so it's jarring for that to be challenged or changed.
A lot of the conflict with nirvash is never clarified in stone, but we know for sure that Renton causes Eureka to change and that's a big deal for everybody involved. Nirvash and Eureka don't really know change before this.  In terms of Nirvash’s opinion, we know mostly about the parts Eureka reacts to, but if you think about it we dont really find out why Nirvash likes Renton in the first place or what initially caused Nirvash to becomes less open with Eureka. It's hard to place exactly what the conflict is. Just that it involves Renton and it involves this change. Despite Eureka being the best creature humanty has for communicating with Archetypes there are still certain barriers between them. They are the same creature, but theyre vastly different versions of the same creature with vastly different capabilities and experiences. Nirvash and Eureka will inevitably end up in situations where they don’t see eye to eye if for no other reason than their mental and sensory experience is vastly different from one another. I suspect that Nirvash is at times jealous of Eureka going off and having experiences and relationships with others, in the same way Eureka gets jealous when Nirvash seems to prefer Renton over her.
That all said, I do think Nirvash does have some sense of right and wrong even without Eureka’s guidance, but Eureka shows evidence of chiding or suggesting morality to the Nirvash throughout. Things like compassion and a moral compass seem to be way more pronounced for Nirvash later on in the series, after like 40 episodes of bonding and getting into and out of trouble together.  Again, we can’t know all the details because the audience doesn’t get any unfiltered version of Nirvash’s perspective, but we know for sure that Eureka (and eventually Renton) is very very important to her even when the they are in conflict. In turn, Eureka regularly demonstrates that she trusts Nirvash implicitly and seems to respect Nirvash's judgement in many kinds of situations. The Nirvash is a member of the family through and through. She’s always down to help the cause, and she appreciates the great privilege involved in having a front row seat to Eureka’s experience. The Nivash has had an unprecedented opportunity to become enlightened about other creatures in ways the rest of the Scub Coral could not. In another life Nirvash could have had any number of destinies, possibly even safer ones with less strife and less change. She was never essential to the plan of putting yet another humanoid coralian into the world and could have moved for anybody else and had a completely different life. Maybe in times of conflict Nirvash thinks about that, but if there’s one thing that’s canon as hell I know that Nirvash would never trade away being loved by the Storywriter.
We stan a queen.

Jimmy is one sassy, sharp tongued individual with a good sense of humor and passion in his beliefs. He’s strong-willed and intelligent, and though he may not always be the most moral individual, he tries his damned hardest to be fair and polite to everyone, making him a rather kind gentleman. He’s a favorite among crowds and quite the charismatic cripple.
Jimmy loves having catchphrases. Some of his key phrases include the following: “Wow, what a terrific audience” & “What a great audience”, “-very much” at the end of a sentence, “I mean, come on!” “Try this one on for size!”, and “Have you seen this? Have you heard about this?”.
4. Appearance:
Jimmy has ataxic cerebral palsy, which causes him to walk with two crutches supporting his arms. He also has exotropia, which causes his eyes to be lopsided and never fully centered. This all doesn’t phase him one bit, as he believes to be handicapable and made a miraculous creation. Jimmy also talks with a stutter, which has been known in numerous occasions where he has performed his comedy or has been conversing with his pals. Standing at a tall 6′3″, Jimmy is easily one of the tallest boys in the high school, but also one of the most buff. Ever since he stopped taking steroids, Jimmy has exercised regularly and has gone to become quite the special athlete, winning numerous championships in the process.

He bought his first apartment and has been living by himself ever since. - Jimmy is a great writer, hence how he makes his own jokes up. - Jimmy fucking hates the shit out of advertisements to this day. He will tense up every time he sees one on his screen. - His best friend will always be Timmy!
6. Write two decent sized paragraphs that shows how you would portray your muse:
Jimmy found himself walking from one table to the next when an old time rival managed to ‘trip’ and spill his entire tray of food onto Jimmy. Nathan did it so fucking intentionally– so clearly–- pretending to trip only to spill some shitty soup on Jimmy, then holding out the rest of his tray and pouring its remaining contents all over him. There was some lettuce, maybe some cabbage for whatever reason, the rest of his soup, buttered bread, fries–- it’s like he’d gotten everything he could and just threw it on his plate for this one specific moment.
“Oohhhh noooo. I’m so s'awy, Jimmy, I wasn’t watching where I was goin!”
By this point the entirety of both Craig and Stan’s tables were watching on the edge of their seats, along with most of everyone else in the cafeteria. Everything was more or less silent, as though people were waiting for Jimmy’s reaction–- waiting to see if he’d throw down or not. Mimsy, right behind Nathan, had a wide smile as he stood quiet like the rest, and Nathan had a dumb smile of his own.
“W-W-W– Why you trippin’, son?”
Nathan seemed confused for a minute, the expression on his raised head changing as he processed the response. Finally, he gave a tiny “What?” in reply.
“I SOUP-ose y, y, y– You didn’t mean it, huh?”
A few distant snickers carried out threw the cafeteria, along with a couple tiny chuckles. Nathan’s expression grew aggravated as he repeated himself, saying “What?” a bit louder.
“Wow, I’m carrying a l, l, l- Lot of e-emotional cabbage right now.”
This time the laughs were louder and more sincere, even Mimsy joining in with a laugh of his own. Nathan, even more aggravated now than he was to begin with at the start of Jimmy’s little self-proclaimed comedy act, was immediate in smacking Mimsy across the face with his fist, letting out his ever familiar “Shut up Miiimsssssy!” while waving his fist.
“It’s all fun a-and games l-l-lentil someone gets hurt.”
“How long are you gonna go on with that!? Shut UP, SHUT UP!”
“Time fries w-when you’re being an as-… Being an a- a a a a- ss, h—… Time fries w-when you’re being an a-aaaaa- An ass-h– ho-”
Nathan, in a fit of rage, took his tray and threw it with all his might at Jimmy’s face, earning a simple head tilt and wobble from the handi-capable King of comedy. He yelled out a couple “Shut up!!”’s before and after the fact, but Jimmy refused that command.
“Time fries when you’re being an asshole.“

Desa slept like a baby. It was the first time in almost a year since she got some form of deep, relaxing sleep, her body sated and a bit sore from the sex — she didn’t mind. When she opened her eyes, she could still feel Negan’s arm draped across her torso. He was snoring lightly, eyes twitching beneath closed lids. Only when his breathing hitched and he gave a low whine did Desa slip from beneath him. She watched as his facial muscles contracted, teeth clenching together.
He was having a nightmare. Desa recognized it — she’d had to calm Jack down several times. The only difference was that Negan was much, much larger and stronger than Jack.
Negan gave a low groan, falling stiller. Desa observed, waiting until she felt he wasn’t going to lash out, before placing a hand against his bare shoulder.
“Negan,” Desa shook him. “Negan?”
His eyes snapped open. Desa pulled her hand away and Negan groaned once more. He lay, staring at the ceiling before mumbling, “Shit.”
“Morning to you, too,” Desa flopped back down, chuckling. “You were having a nightmare. A pretty vocal one.”
“I fucking saw him. Again. It was like a replay of what happened down in that goddamn sewer,” Negan grunted. Desa placed her hand against his shoulder once more, trying to show that she was listening.
“Is it because he’s still out there? Alive?”
“I don’t fucking know. I’m not a goddamn therapist. The shit is fucking complicated and fucking embarrassing—”
“It’s not embarrassing. Negan, you don’t have to be tough all the time.”
“I do for my men. They all know what happened. That shit spread like a wildfire,” Negan said harshly. “If they saw me whimpering like a fucking pussy, who knows how they’d see me? Not as the big-dicked, badass leader of he Saviors, that for sure.”
“You want to be a character? Is that it?” Desa lifted her head. “You don’t need to put on a show for people to respect you—”
“It’s too late to go back. This is who the fuck I am to my people,” Negan glanced over to where Lucille rested against the desk. “The risk of changing shit far outweigh the benefits.”
“You can be vulnerable around me. You already have been. Because I’ve been vulnerable around you.”
“I will be when I’m ready. I’m not fucking there yet,” Negan slipped from the bed, giving Desa a view of his bare backside. She snorted, remaining on the bed while Negan dressed. He said, “We shouldn’t stay here long.”
“I’m not going back there.”
“What?”
Desa sat up, running fingers through her hair. Negan, now clad in his pants, stopped to look at her. Desa said, “I know it’s probably been suggested to you. This place, this mansion, it’s already fully operational and pretty much stocked. It would make a good outpost—”
“Fuck no—”
“Think tactically. Put everything else aside. I know Father hurt you, and that there are memories attached to this place — It’s the same for me. The biggest insult to Father and Mother would be taking what belonged to them, and claiming it as your own. That’s what we should do. Make it so they could never come back here.”
“And what about you?”
“I’ll stay. I know the grounds, I know every nook and cranny. I’ll oversee the operation and make sure everything runs smoothly,” Desa explained. “Negan, please. It’s better for the both of us. I know how you run things, I know how you operate back at the Sanctuary. I know you’re not going to change, so it’s better if I’m not there.”
Negan sighed, shoulders sagging. In a rare admission of compliance, he said, “Okay. Okay, fine. That shit will work. I’ll send Simon with a crew and he’ll help out.”
“Thank you, Negan.”
“I trust you, Desa. I fucking do, and I know what your capable of. So I expect you to get shit done.”
“I don’t fuck people who I don’t trust, or like. Consider whatever you want, done,” Desa crept to the edge of the bed, pushing herself onto her knees. Negan’s arms snaked around her waist, while hers slipped around his neck. His kisses were desperate, needy. As were Desa’s.
“God, you’re fucking beautiful.”
“So are you. Now get dressed — I’m making us both breakfast.”
“Why is your bat named Lucille?”
Negan nearly choked on his glass of water, coughing while Desa awaited an answer. She’d sprung the question after they’d ate, hoping Negan would be a bit more compliant with food in his stomach. The glare he sent her way was enough to tell her that she’d been wrong.
“I named her after someone I fucking knew. That’s all.”
“That’s pretty ambiguous.”
“It’s meant to be. It’s a sob fucking story and not one I’m in the mood to tell,” Negan leaned back in his chair. “Hell, there’s still stuff I don’t know about you.”
“Like…?”
“Little tidbits of your life before everything went to shit. Why the fuck you stayed with Mother and Father for so damn long…”
“I wasn’t at all interesting before the world went to shit. As for the second part, I stayed because we were given food and water, and Jack was relatively safe. Anytime that boy saw a biter, he’d climb a tree. He would have died out there.”
“It’s a damn shame I never got to meet him.”
“You would have liked him,” Desa smiled sadly. “What’s done is done. I can’t be like I was when Mom and Dad and my sister died. I can’t.”
Negan stared longingly, ducking his head when Desa lifted hers. “You said to me a while ago…that you don’t feel shit. You just deal with it. I know that feeling.”
“It’s the only way to keep yourself from going crazy.”
“Yeah,” Negan said distantly. He was looking at something behind Desa — something through the window, though his gaze was off. In a quiet voice, he said, “Don’t fucking move, Desa.”
Desa’s shoulders went rigid, and she remained deathly still. Still peering past her shoulder, Negan murmured, “There’s someone fucking watching us. Right against that tree near the courtyard. I can fucking see them.”
“Just one?”
“So far, yeah,” Negan said. He finally looked away, gesturing of Desa to stay seated while he stood, grabbing his dishes and placing them in the sink.
“The truck is parked out back.”
“Good. Go to it,” Negan said, scrubbing his plate. “There’s a handgun in the glove compartment—“
Their watchers gave them no time to move. Glass shattered behind Desa and she screamed, falling to the floor. Ceramics plates shattered, and the wooden cabinets became peppered with bullets. Desa kept her head down, crawling beneath the table while Negan slipped into the hallway.
“Desa! Go to the fucking car—”
Gunfire erupted from the right side of the house. Desa heard the chandelier shatter and fall with a tremendous crash to the ground. Voices echoed around the building.
“Go,” Negan hissed, drawing his own gun. “Fucking go—”
Desa made a mad dash towards the back porch, bursting through the door and onto the grass. The truck was parked on the wraparound driveway — as Desa wrenched open the door, she immediately popped open the glove compartment, pulling out the handgun.
The windows shattered from a barrage of bullets. Desa peered over the hood, raising the weapon and firing. Her attacker — a silent, masked figure, toppled.
Negan burst out the door, Lucille in hand. The moment he leaped into the passengers seat, Desa inserted the keys and floored it. They tore out the open gate, ducking as a final bullet destroyed the back windshield.
“Shit.”
“That’s an understatement,” Desa let out a breath, the roar of the wind causing her eyes to water. She glanced over at Negan, letting out a small chuckle. “No time for fun anymore, right?”
“No time to let our fucking guard down,” Negan spat. He raised one gloved hand to his forehead, adding, “You think those were Father’s guys?”
“They had masks, so I couldn’t recognize them,” Desa said, easing off the gas a little bit when she realized that they weren’t being followed. “I don’t know how many of Father’s people survived. I looked at all the bodies in the courtyard…not everyone was there.”
“They’re fucking stupid if they think they can take the Estate back,” Negan said. “Father is fucking stupid. Once we figure out where they all are, we’ll fucking kill them—”
Negan’s words were abruptly cut off when a van careened into the center of the intersection, slamming hard into the side of the truck. Whatever glass remained shattered. Desa experienced the brief sensation of being airborne while strapped to her seat, mouth open as she let out a scream.
The truck landed on it’s roof, the metal crumpling beneath the asphalt.
Silence.
Desa could see out the window — the van’s hood was crumpled, but the truck had taken the force of the hit. She turned to Negan — his eyes fluttered and he shook his head, looking dazed and confused. The moment he realized what had happened, he cursed.
“Where’s the gun?”
Desa craned her neck. She extended an arm, grasping the handgun from when it had fallen. Her ears were ringing and her limbs were shaking. A pair of boots stopped next to the flipped vehicle, and Desa raised the gun, taking aim while Negan began struggling to remove his seatbelt.
Still wearing a seatbelt during the end of the world?
Safety first.
The boots didn’t move.. Negan stopped, tilting his head to the side. Then, in a quiet voice, he said, “Holy fuck. Those are my boots.”
“I know. They fit me well,” the figure got onto it’s knees, and Desa angled the gun. She heard an audible click come from behind her, sighing when she felt the cool barrel of a rifle against the back of her head. The figure said, “If you even point that weapon in my direction, I’ll kill you. Lower the gun, Desa. Let’s talk.”
Desa dropped the gun. It clattered against the upside down ceiling of the car. The rifle against her head eased back a little, but she could still feel the barrel brush her hair. Whoever it was, they were crouching, poking the weapon through the destroyed window.
“Fuck you,” Negan growled. The moment Father’s head popped into view, Negan lashed out, fingers clawing at his face. Father drew his head back, smiling with amusement.
“I abhor foul language,” Father said. “There’s no reason to curse because you can’t make your point.”
Negan glared.
Father walked around the car, forcing Desa to turn her head as he rounded on the drivers side door. He knelt once more, and Desa could only snarl. When he reached for her, she opened her mouth and attempted to snap off his fingers.
“You always liked to bite,” Father murmured. “We’ll have to fix that as well. Amy, round them up. We need to get back before the sun sets.”
