just watched centaurworld and you cannot tell me there wasn't conflict in the writer's room about horse x rider

(screenshots below including the finale so spoilers)

so in S2E4 Horse says this refering to Becky Apples

and then later that very same episode she says this to wamawink comparing the situation between her and jeffica to horse and becky apple's situation

what are these mixed messages I'm being given

then in the series finale the nowhere king compares himself to horse

in regards to the situation between them and their "humans"

the situation between the nowhere king and his "human" being very much romantic

and then there's how sensual they made all of these scenes

and there's many times where it looks like they almost kiss

and the whole U-Haul lesbian thing in regards to this

but then there's all this

so in conclusion I think there was conflict in the writer's room about this so there's multiple things pointing both ways and to be clear I don't condone this ship I just wanted to publish my thoughts on what happened to make this how it is, and if you're trying to think of a reason why this could have happened in canon then perhaps the centaurworld's anthropomorphism of Horse it turned horse's bond to rider into a romantic one because the bond between a horse and their rider isn't really something that exists between two anthropomorphic beings

Horse was looking forward to a nice, quiet day in Centaurworld. Even after the war, surprisingly few days had been quiet; her herd either attracted trouble, or just plain seeked it out on their own when the mood struck them. So yes, when Horse saw everyone settle into their Lazy Day routines, she could honestly say that she was feeling just a little bit smug, one might even say giddy, as she laid down next to Rider to get in a good after-breakfast nap while she could.

A bright flash of light startled everyone out of their laze—

Oh come on!

A swirling green portal appeared in the air next to their little camp. It looked so much like the rift between the Human world and Centaurworld, except this one was much smaller and wasn’t attached to any structure, with no key to hold it either! It looked like it was just big enough for Rider to step through, maybe Horse if she squeezed, so that eased her worries some bit—no armies would be coming through any time soon—but they all stood up and got in ready positions just in case.

Just a moment later, a human boy stepped through—or what Horse assumed was a human boy? He looked so different compared to the other human boys she had seen during her life in the Human world. First: his hair was white, whiter than anything she’s ever seen on a human. Second: his eyes, hands, and feet were huge compared to the rest of his skinny frame. He looked so out of place that Horse wondered if he wasn’t from either of the two worlds. Are there even other worlds?

As they stared at him, the boy stared right back, eyes wide, up until he opened his mouth.

“Holy shit—”

Whatever the boy said after that was lost as Glendale started yelling and running around in a panic, arms flailing.

“WOOOOOOAAAA!! HE SAID A BAD WORD, WAMMAWINK! THE HUMAN BOY THING JUST SAID A BAD WORD!!”

Durpleton joined in on the yelling and running, also he was crying. Great. And, of course not one to be left out of a trend, Zulius started crying as well, quickly followed by—when did Gebbrey get here??

Wammawink immediately jumped in to calm them all down with soft lullabies and reassurances.

Meanwhile the boy just looked bewildered. He caught Rider’s eye with a pleading expression. She huffed amusedly, and walked over to stand next to him.

“Um… are they okay? I’m really sorry about that, it just kind of slipped out. You know, when he said ‘Go to Centaurworld’ I wasn’t expecting like half-animal-half-man-things, and I’m rambling…” the boy trailed off. Rider chuckled.

“Yeah, they’re fine,” she assured him. “They’re actually always like this, but you get used to it.”

“Great, ‘cuz I actually came here for something specific,” he stuck a hand behind his back and pulled it back with an empty glass jar from somewhere. “Right, I’m Danny by the way.”

“Oh, I’m—”

“OH YEAH? YOU THINK THAT’S A BAD WORD?” Ched shouted from where the rest of the herd was gathered. Ugh, Ched. “PFFT, PFFT, PFFT! AMATURE! THAT’S AN AMATURE BAD WORD!”

“Ched,” Wammawink warned.

“I’LL SHOW YOU A REAL BAD WORD!”

“Ched, no!”

 “FUCK!”

 Silence reigned throughout the camp, before, of course, more shouting and crying from the others in the herd. Wammawink’s face turned small as she narrowed her eyes and scowled at the boy standing in front of the portal.

“You.”

“Uhh…” The boy tried to back up as Wammawink hopped angrily towards him.

“This is all your fault!” She stopped directly in front of him, and put on—wow, that’s the most passive aggressively fake smile Horse had ever seen Wammawink wear. “What is it that you want so you can leave? Like right now?”

“I, uhh… need to fill this with something called Sparkle Blinkies?” the boy lifted the empty jar. “Do you know where I can get some?”

Wammawink grabbed the jar out of the boy’s hand and tilted her head over it with another scowl and a huff. The boy’s face went through an impressive range of emotions as he watched her fill the jar with her sparkle blinkies. When done, she shoved the jar back at the boy and barely waited for him to have a hold on it before letting it go and forcibly turning him around and shoving him back towards the portal that he came from, all while smiling and rambling cheerfully.

“Well here you go now, all the sparkle blinkies you could want and oh look at that, your reason to be here is gone, such a shame, would love to do this again, but we’re going to be, hm, not here, if you ever come back and your portal is right there, don’t forget to close it on your way out, buh-bye!”

She gave one last push and the boy fell back into his own world…

Probably, Horse thought.

With a shove from the pink alpaca-centaur-woman, Danny fell back into the Ghost Zone; the portal closing quickly behind him.

He could honestly say that that wasn’t the weirdest world he’d ever been to, but also, he’d be fine not going back there ever again, if it was all up to him. But alas, it was not, so he trudged his way back to Clockwork’s lair. When he got there, he slammed the doors open and flew to the sitting room, where he knew the old geezer would be.

“Hey Clockwork, I’m back with your eye sparkles!” he called, shaking the now-filled jar a bit. The blinky-star things glittered and made little magic tinkling noises. “What did you need them for anyway?”

“Thank you, Daniel,” Clockwork floated over to him and accepted the jar with an outstretched hand, then motioned for Danny to follow him back to where the sofa-chairs and a small table were set up. The old ghost snapped his fingers and two giant dishes of ice cream poofed into existence, piled high with bananas, cherries, chocolate and caramel sauces, and topped with whipped cream. The only thing that seemed to be missing from this picture-perfect dessert was—what was Clockwork doing?

Said ghost had floated over to the dishes while Danny was distracted. He plucked a star sparkle from its jar and crushed it in his hand before sprinkling it over the ice cream, and again for the second one. The old stopwatch then turned around with a small smile and a twinkle in his eye.

“You are just in time for my Ice Cream Sunday.”

“… I can feel the way you said ‘Sunday’ instead of ‘Sundae,’” Danny rolled his eyes. “Why are you like this?”

“I have no idea what you mean,” Clockwork tilted his head. “I can put it away if you don’t—”

“Nope! No it’s fine! I am all for Ice Cream Sundays! Thanks gramps!”

Clockwork just smiled as he watched Danny dig into his treat, and started spooning into his as well.

All is as it should be.

I’m working on a Centaurworld fanfic AU. Where Rider ends up going with Horse. In this take my OCs Taran and Dain are also featured. Dain is Horse’s love interest from their world who ends up going with her. Taran goes too. He is Rider’s love interest. The quartet had often worked as a team together.

Rider jumped after Dain and Horse who fell together, Taran followed the both of them. In this AU neither Horse or Dain undergo any physical transformations.

A common argument I've seen for the 'Rider x Horse' ship is that Horse is sentient, and therefore, it isn't really zoophilia. And while it's true that Horse is sentient now, she wasn't always, and, more to the point, she wasn't sentient when they started their friendship.

We usually compare zoophilia to pedophilia in terms of how non-consensual it is, and in that way...

would this not be akin to child grooming?

Like, what if instead of being an animal becoming sentient, Horse was a child growing into an adult (let's assume that time goes faster in Centaurworld), and was trying to get back to the adult who took care of them in childhood? I'd definitely feel uncomfortable if that led to a romantic relationship.

Their relationship hasn't even changed that much since she became sentient, their song even emphasizes that, so reading it as romantic kind of implies that it was romantic back then too. This isn't like Elktaur and the mysterious woman, Elktaur was always sentient, even in his fully elk form.

If you remove that context then I think the relationship is fine, but in context, the idea of it being romantic makes me uncomfortable.

Hootenanny Chorale Analysis

I, very much love Centaurworld and find it impressive that they released 2 seasons in a year.

for this to make sense please understand something’s. 1. I am not a professional at this, this is just my thoughts. 2. When I say Verse x I mean that is where I cut the lyrics to make it easier to analyze. 3. Please mind my spelling, autocorrect sucks and I usually don’t pick up on mistakes.

This song is very similar to ‘Welcome to Centaurworld’ from season 1.

Verse 1:

This verse is similar to the first verse of ‘Welcome to Centaurworld’. That song was sang by Wamawink to Horse. It goes like this: “Hey, new friend I’m glad you made it What is this? Hey, new friend As long as you are with us You are home”

The original verse is sung directly at Horse, while the this version was sung to everyone. It includes everyone and their experiences.

Verse 2:

Horse

You made it to Centaurworld And nothing better Represents our world Moletaurs: Holes Coldtaurs: Breathe in a bag! Birdtaurs: Like! Horsetaurs: Privilege! All: Than this colorful collection Of singing, dancing magic beings Meeting here today

Again this was from the same song. And it mostly stayed the same. The other Centaur’s just interrupted the song. But this shows all their friends and how far they traveled.

“Cause you made it to Centaurworld And nothing better represents our world Than this colorful collection of singing and dancing

Half-animal, half-man things

You’re meeting here today” this was the original verse. I find it interesting that “Half-animal, Half-man things” was changed to “magical beings”. Showing that they have become more than just weird animal-man things. They became special and unique. “You’re meeting here today” and “Meeting here today” was also changed. Which makes sense, they Centaurs have met Horse already.

Verse 3:

Horse

And when a chorus gathers At the end of the Rainbow Road They’re one family

Slow and agile things Strong and fragile things  From the skies to depths below

This verse was written for this song, as far as I am aware. This song is talking about Centaurworld as a whole. The “…Fragile things” line is a nice nod to the beginning when the herd was still fragile. This verse in for all the different Centaurs.

Verse 4:

Horse

It takes a little boldness And a little bit of magic (We can all be fearless too)  But I know you’re fearless too (Fearless too)

This some of this verse is from “Hello Rainbow Road” from Season 1. “But it takes a little boldness And a little bit of magic I’d go on my own if only I had it” and “Fragile Things” from season 1. “You can all be fearless too”

I find it cool how Horse is singing from a song that is about going somewhere and the others are singing about protecting others. Which is exactly what they are going to do for the war.

It completely cut out going on Horse’s own. A nice bit of foreshadowing for “Who was She”. It talks about being Fearless, something very much associated with Horse’s Charater. (Being tossed in to the battle field, “Taurnado”, horses being tough and strong). In season 1 Horse thought that everyone was quite meek and not brave. So I feel like her saying “I know you’re fearless to” is important.

Verse 5:

Horse

Together, we’ll go into the unknown  So get ready to fight You’re okay, you’re all right All: You are Centaur… You are Centaurworld

Again, some parts is from “Hello Rainbow Road”.

“Together, we’ll go into the unknown So say bye to the old And hello to that Rainbow Road”

This verse is very much referring to them going through the portal instead of traveling around Centaurworld. “You’re okay, you’re all right” is a fast becoming something one would say to someone they care about. This is the 7th time this has been used this way “Rider’s Lullaby (season 1), Rider’s Lullaby (Reprised) (season 1), I’ve been searching for you (season 1), Durpleton’s Lullaby (season 2), Hootenanny Chorale (season 2), Last Lullaby (season 2), Separate Ways (not sure if this counts because it only says ‘You’re okay’) (season 1) ” I used to think this was Rider’s and Horse’s, but it is to show care. Each time it appears it is someone saying to calm other other down or show that they really care or that they love the other person. I think this is showing that Horse has grown to truly care about Centaurworld and all the Centaurs.

Centaurworld! (SPOILERS)

We just finished watching Centaurworld Season 2. And - wow - my mind exploded.

I will collect my thoughts into several sub-points. ATTENTION, MANY SPOILERS!

Let's go!

- To my disappointment, this season has not produced any really cool songs. That's actually my only serious objection to him.

+ CentaursTM are terrible. I'm really glad that Horse remained a horse, not turned into a Horsetaur.

-But I'm disappointed she didn't turn into a pegasus, as the Teacup episode in season 1 suggested. Booo!

+ Birdaurs are even scarier. Seriously, the episode with them beat the analogous episode from MLP (you know, the one where Twilight published the journal). It even beat the episode with the theater in "Avatar: Legend of Aang"!

- Eggs... uuuuh... worse than miniatures from the hooves...

+/- A lot of fan service... Really, really big fan services... I don't know it's bad or good thing...

+ The flashback episode is officially my favourite. Heck, I finally liked Ched 'cause of it! I cried like a baby watching this episode, and I will cry whenever I watch it again.

+ Poor Nowhere King. I truly feel sorry for him - and I really hate his original form at the same time. What an asshole!

+ Zulus x Splendib = best ship AND canon now! Yeeee! :3

+ The relationship between Woman and Beartaur was weird - but I liked it. Their relationship was so awww...

- But I'm disappointed that a big guy like the Beartaur didn't run over there and defeat the entire army, really :/

- Rider dying scene is too long >.>

+ I love Stabby's name in Polish... Ranko (from the word "rana" which means "wound")

- In places, I was irritated by slightly embarrassing texts and I'm afraid that it is not a question of translation. On the other hand, the Polish dubbing is very sloppy sounding in places. Not fine, Polish dubbing guys :/

+ Glendale, my baby, was gorgeous every second she was on the screen <3

+ The same applies to my other two favourites, i.e. Waterbaby and Zulus - by the way, joining Zulus to the herd was a gorgeous XD

+ Someone noticed that Zulus is Batman? :3

+ I enjoyed expanding the world of Centaurs.

- But why so little of the human world? Only the two who attacked Rider...

- By the way, I have a mess with time in this show... how long did the Woman, General and Nowhere King live, if in the first season it was mentioned about centuries of war, and then suddenly it turns out that it is only a dozen, maybe several dozen years?

+ Was it only I who pointed out that in the memories of Nowhere King Woman was accompanied by a centaur of the species Glendale? Accidental? I don't think so :]

- There will be no third season :c

+ But it's great that they have closed all threads. Even the one with the miniatures shot from the hooves!

- Wait... I found two things they didn't explain... the subject of Becky Apple's rider (was it a man in a cage? Why did they not take up this thread?) And that scary black and white masked child... What was that about?

+ Comfortable Doug X'D Nothing more to say here X"D

+ Congratulations to the creators for all that brave scenes... both those with death and those with... um... Doug's nipples? :3

I love this show. I will have to watch it 2-3 times more to catch everything that is happening in the background!

Do you ship horse and rider from centaurworld, if so what are the reasons you started shipping them?

I want to get all the thoughts on horse x rider from different ppl

it just feels so ... obvious . idk. & in s2 when they had their story parallel the elk and the woman... the way they talk/sing to & about eachother!!!! if they were m/f or maybe both the same species then people would have no second thoughts about shipping them
