The program for the 2024 edition of Norrköpingsljud is finally available online! ❤️

This festival for contemporary music was founded in 2015 and is centered around music by composers with a connection to the Swedish city of Norrköping.

If you by any chance find yourself in the area, then I strongly recommend you come and listen to the concerts on the 23th to 26th of May.

One of the events is a concert with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (SON) with conductor Michael Bartosch, and on the program is my orchestral work "Ægir" from 2020. Really excited about this world premiere!

Don't Worry 'Bout Me - Performance

OK, to take part in the performance, what you need to do is download the backing track, put on some headphones and video yourself singing your part. Your video will be used along with others to create a performance for the choir. Make sure to sign up to get notified of rehearsals, performances and activities. To learn the song please watch the practice sessions here. To upload your video please use the form below and follow these rules. This performance will be public, so do not upload a video if you do not want your video to be seen by others.You must use headphones to listen to the backing track and only upload a video of you signing. Any video's with the backing track will not be used for this performance. I Googled "Health Benefits of Singing" and the first entry was Take Lessons.

Oy. You don't have to take lessons in order to enjoy singing. Singing is for everyone, so start with having fun.

Sing with the radio, sing in the shower, sing with your children, sing alone, sing with friends for the hell of it. You don't have to be good at it. (If you enjoy it and want to get better at it, by all means, take lessons. I took lessons for years and loved every single minute of it.)

Choir singers report that they feel feeling happier, less anxious and less depressed than the general population. Joining a group, creating music together, benefits your immune system and can lower your levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Singing in a group, believe it or not, can reduce snoring! One study found that, when comparing singers with non-singers, the singers had a significantly lower severity of snoring. (You're exercising your throat muscles when you sing.)

For the introverts in the world, who complain that they are lonely, singing is the way to gently join the rest of the world.

So turn on a song you love on your IPhone and let those endorphins course through your body. You'll feel great!
