WOOHOO I finished the prototype!! I've always wanted to make a lil house tissue box cover with the tissues as the "smoke" out of the chimney hehe at least that's the idea! I am also currently revamping my FREE PATTERNS section on my website and plan on adding this one if you're interested! Just don't ask me when cause..... I'm not sure hahahaha! Still working out the kinks!

can you believe I'm actually sticking to the list (kind of...)??? I had these leftover tiles from a secret santa gift I was working on a while ago so Steve and I started using them as coasters.
And then I found some old embroidery thread from a variety pack I've had for like ever and thought I'd try making little coaster covers hehe
I even wrote down what I did this time! A miracle, I know!!!!!

I'm still having a hard time keeping my edging neat, but feeling like a goofy scientist finding an old crochet blanket pattern and modding it into a small cardigan 🥴
sleeves and trim are knit tho!

CARDIGAN UNLOCKED!!!!! (with pockets!!) it's a little frumpy but finished my first no-pattern solo cardigan ever. It is WAY oversized 🤣🤣🤣 but I'm pretty happy with the color blocking!
Bigger projects always intimidated me, but I feel doing large wearables like these is pretty fun!!
This one's just for me, but Mother's Day is coming up quick so...

Naknicromo day 20: favorite indie yarn shop - uh I don't actually really know very many sorry... But I'll say I got this alpaca-merino wool blend yarn from my local alpaca farm! It's soft and thick and just lovely to look at.

Day 12: favorite projects - tbh I'm not always confident I completely understand these prompts but I will share two projects I really loved a lot
The first is a pink bear scarf that I was superrrr happy about!!!! One, because it was my first major knitting project, and two, because it was just one of those things that turned out almost exactly as I was imagining in my head!
The second is a white deer doll I sent to my cousin in Korea when I learned she was having a daughter. While super cute and adorable, it was actually rather difficult to achieve the shapes I wanted (probably freehanded with a lot of retries). It is extremely unlikely I'd ever make it again 😂😂😂

Naknicromo day 25: feel good craft memories - lol omg so our xmas party of 2019 (whew before covid!), my friend Jaime and I apparently were the secret santas to this lovely pair of just-married friends, and we BOTH ended up making Baby Yodas for them!! Unplanned!!!! He needle-felted (I think that's what it's called), and I crocheted what was essentially my big amigurumi prototype!!! That was probably the best thing that's ever happened it always makes me smile so much thinking about it!!

Naknicromo Day 16: least favorite technique - uh probably weaving in the ends when changing colors or finishing a project. Very necessary but super annoying. I developed a little cheat to avoid it, but it only works for single crochet for a single color haha. Maybe one day I'll do a mini tutorial on it! Naknicromo Day 17: WIP Wed - finally finished all my yodas (will be for sale this weekend!) and the little bunny I posted about when I first started this challenge. The last thing I want to try to finish before the month is over is my yellow bunny scarf (not pictured but you'll see it soon!)

Day 8: dream craft room / stash I'm not the best interior designer but I do keep practicality in mind a lot when I can organize my spaces. I'm just happy to have a craft room at all! Though, don't judge me, I do... Most of my work.... In the living room LOL you know! In front of the tv! Next to the dogs and my bf! Can't beat that cozy company while crafting and decompressing from work. I always see those crazy yarn stashes too with peg boards or giant shelves packed full of ginormous skeins of yarn, and, honestly, that always made me feel superrrr overwhelmed. My little shoe organizer has always been enough for me (not pictured: small wire cube shelves holding my larger skeins of yarn when they don't fit). Featured: my prized painting from a longtime friend Zac !!!! When I saw it I KNEW I wanted it in my future craft room, held it in the bubble wrap for a year or two, and only just hung it up when I bought my house. It always makes me smile when I look at it. I love it so much!!!!

Naknicromo day 7: plan or go with the flow? It depends! Most satisfying and biggest preference is going with the flow and not having to start anything over lmao but that is... Rare. I still wing most projects anyway despite how punishing it can be sometimes hahahaha When a project involves a lot of different parts, though, and materials (like the purses I'm trying to prototype), I do like to draw it out and list out my materials. But then at times that can make me feel overwhelmed too. I honestly really can't win either way lol. Uh this is a commission I just finished this weekend! It's a little uterus keychain hehehe. So for this project I did follow a pattern I wrote myself (which you can find on my website for free!) but was initially freehanded a few times before I decided to write it down. Can you believe that for some people (especially in elderly women, even after giving birth) it's actually life sized? As in, some women have very, very tiny uteri! The size of this chapstick!

Naknicromo day 19: favorite tools - right now it's probably my circle knitting needles! I can basically go on autopilot and burn through shows and movies without worrying about flipping sides or if I need to be purling or knitting. Just goes on and on and on and on! And was very much the biggest key factor in making me a better knitter. Pictured here is a prototype roller skate wheel sock to store roller skate wheels! I hope to prototype one for rollerblade wheels too. But lmao are you surprised I'm starting yet ANOTHER project without finishing my other ones?

Naknicromo day 26: NKCM memories - sorry if you're sicka seeing the baby yodas rn lmao but I do have to say, as hard as it really freaking is to post something every day (serious props to people who do do this and for more than a month lmao), it has kept me pretty accountable in making progress with my projects! I've been progressing seriously just because I knew I had to post something new for WIP Wednesdays lmao, and I really am enjoying sharing more of my space and process with you. As much as I'd love to be able to say "I should keep doing this!" It's a bit much for me for sure long-term. I can just tell. Maybe just once a week or so? We'll see hahahaha.

I really struggle with finishing these challenge things BUT I WANT TO TRY AGAIN. Here's naknicromo again! day 1 - introduce yourself! I like to make cute, pastel-colored animals and accessories mostly! Last year I got really distracted // lazy cause I was spending an unhealthy amount of time house hunting hahahaha but none of that this time! Also please excuse that these are delayed vs. my instagram posts. I've been wanting to queue them but haven't gone around to it until recently. I hope you can enjoy them regardless!

Day 11: first finished object - uh so I don't actually a picture of my first finished project, so here is a screenshot of my first Etsy sale back in like 2011? hahahaha! I was strictly making cute animal /fruit / vegetable hats back then. I really genuinely had no interest other than hats at that time. Past me would absolutely judge the current me for straying from this apparently stubbornly amazing path!!!!

Ugh I did it again! I was so tired yesterday tho I practically went straight to bed lol. Day 5: favorite fiber/yarn - probably cotton I think the "Sugar n Cream" brand has been the one yarn I have been using consistently throughout my whole crocheting career. They always somehow have the exact color I'm looking for! And because of its stiffness, they tend to hold their shapes pretty well for my projects. However, I think it can be a little tough to use for knitting if I could be honest. Day 6: crafting assistants - dean (greyhound) is always trying to smell-test everything and lunchbox (our new puppy!) is always trying to eat everything. I guess..... someone has to do those jobs? very important
