The character of Miranda faces her maid, Regina, and shakes to know the truth. There's supposed to be a clue in the book. It intrigues Miranda because of the silver swan on the cover... Get yourself wrapped in education. Knowledge is power and power corrupts. You can study hard, but it won't make you evil. It'll make you take the first steps to freedom. #ComingOut #PeopleLikeMe #LBGTQIA #LifeChangesInAFlash #CanYouKeepASecret #FirstLove #ComingOfAgeStory #DramaQueen #AgeOfQueens #AMansPower #Theocracy #TheRoyalFamily #TheRoyalCourt #Gloriana #ElizabethanAge #TheCrown #TheCrusades #ChildrensCrusade #GameOfThrones #OutlanderSeries https://www.instagram.com/p/CnSX1t5v88z/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🐓BOOK REVIEW : The Year of the Bear
Douglas J. Lanzo , Ambassador International
Tumblr media
Thirteen-year-old Jason has lived with his father since his mother left. After a tragic deadly encounter with a mother bear, the young boy takes the responsibility of raising her young cub.
If you love adventure novels like Jack London’s The Call of the Wild or White Fang, you will surely enjoy the Year of the Bear. Douglas J. Lanzo does an amazing job describing Maine’s wildlife and nature. I have been impressed by all the history explanations, as well as the research on the Penobscot Tribe's customs.
The Year of the Bear is a beautiful story of love and friendship. Nature, adventure and Native American customs are at the heart of this coming-of-age story where a young boy wishes to become a man too soon. Between an absent mother, school bullies and a distant father, the young boy learns new responsibilities with his new friend.

Book Review…A Letter in the Wall by Eileen BrillIt’s 1971, and Joan Dumann fears her former business partner wants her dead—but her anxiety is less about dying than it is about feeling disrespected and invalidated. As she constructs a letter about her predicament, she revisits her past.
A Letter in the Wall is based on a letter written by the real Joan that was found in the Wall of a Pennsylvania home more than half a century later. I was able to hear the author speak about this book. The way she actually found the letter in the wall of the home she was living in and I couldn't wait to read it! We follow Joan from her early childhood through marriages, her mother's death, and the birth of her own children. Joan's character is realistic and complex and at times it was hard to like her but I also had moments where I felt bad for her. Overall I truly enjoyed this story, it's emotional and captures the life of a woman that I'm sure many of us will be able to relate to in our own way!
Thank you Get Red PR and Eileen Brill for sharing this book with me!

"For two high school seniors, it’s seventeen going on thirty—overnight—in a magical romantic comedy" #WokeUpLikeThis by #AmyLea is the latest release from #MindysBookStudio #AmazonFirstReads #contemporaryromance #TimeTravel #bookreview #comingofagestory
For two high school seniors, it’s seventeen going on thirty—overnight—in a magical romantic comedy about growing up too fast and living in the moment. Planning the perfect prom is one last “to do” on ultra-organized Charlotte Wu’s high school bucket list. So far, so good, if not for a decorating accident that sends Charlotte crash-landing off a ladder, face-first into her obnoxiously ripped…

"Who cares what happens to the meat after it's off the bone?"
What book from your TBR do you keep putting off despite knowing that you’ll love it?
True Crime is one of many of mine. A book lauded by many of my favourite people around here, and it definitely lived up to the hype.
Suzy’s most precious items are her illicit issues of True Crime, tucked away where no one can find them. The broken bodies an escape from the violence she endures at the hands of her mother, as a plaything for her and her boyfriends.
It’s no surprise when Suzy finally snaps. Walking in on the scene her brother Lim knows their only hope is to flee, starting a journey absolutely soaked in blood. Two wounded children inflicting pain on anyone who gets in their way.
A powerful story about extreme trauma and abuse and the delicate line victims walk between protector and perpetrator. It’s a tough read but hard to put down.

I’m dreaming of adventures and traveling across the ocean…In reality, I have way too many phobias to ever undertake such a journey😢 Luckily, there are books about things I might never do in my life. Like this one by Michael Ondaatje, through which I can experience the excitement of traveling alone across the blue vastness, the fear of being tied up to the deck in a storm. I’ll meet a bunch of strangers that will tell me their secrets and keep their mysteries to themselves. I’ll make lifelong friends the way children do so easily and go and live my life with those memories. #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #instabooks #instabookstagram #whattoread #whattoreadnext #michaelondaatje #thecatstable #comingofagestory #historicalfictionbooks #canadianliterature #canadianauthors #travellingwithbooks (at Tallinn, Estonia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRoP_OHLqc7/?utm_medium=tumblr

I’ve been working on this story for a few years off and on, hoping to launch it into the world soon. It’s inspired by the Iron John fairy tale, as well as Robert Bly’s book of the same name, basically a coming-of-age story. Stay tuned! #donwidmerpaperarts #robertbly #ironjohn #firstnovel #modernfairytale #comingofagestory https://www.instagram.com/p/CQt7m-xLbxV/?utm_medium=tumblr

Beartown By Fredrik Backman
Rate:4.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Beartown’ book just not about a hockey-obsessed small, struggling town and much more. This is also about dreams and sacrifices, expectations and disappointments, loyalties, friendship and parenting. I don’t know if you can say the people of Beartown are obsessed with hockey. It’s more that they live for it, they live and breath it every minute of the day. I absolutely love the story…

May 20th, 2020 || 📚mini-reviews📚 . 🌿All Among the Barley by Melissa Harrison. i thought that this novel was going to be a difficult one to read. don’t know why i thought that to be honest but i was very wrong. i was completely mesmerized by page 1; the writing was very beautiful, descriptive and focused on nature. Harrison deals with very different themes from class, mental health, privilege, self-identity, gender and sexuality to the rise of Fascism in the UK and its “let’s go back to the past and focus on traditional British way of living” kind of mentality; and she does so in an incredibly nuanced and subtle manner. there was one problem for me: i wish it had been longer. i was not ready to let the characters go. . 🗻Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. i’m not into mountaineering, at all and simply thinking about climbing a mountain, least of all Everest, makes me shudder. but at the same time i find interesting to understand why others would. Krakauer survived the Everest Disaster of 1996 and the book gives his account of what happened in the mountain prior, during and after May 10. i have to say i enjoyed the second half a lot more than the first half and i appreciate the fact that he is aware that he made mistakes and acknowledged the fact that some of his memories were tainted. nevertheless, what these people went through must have been horrendous. . what was the last book you finished? i hope you are having a great week and staying safe 😘 • • • #adayinbooklandreviews #springathon #intothinair #jonkrakauer #allamongthebarley #melissaharrison #naturewriting #literaryfiction #comingofagestory #unitedbookstagram #bookaesthetic #recentlyread #mayreads #recentreads #bookreviewers #fortheloveofreading #readeverything #bookishpost #bookloversunite https://www.instagram.com/p/CAaLjnHqoMM/?igshid=otbklkn9nb7c
