maeror viventi
Following the relinquishing of the Geo Archon’s Gnosis per the terms of his ultimate contract, Signora and Alectra are set to return to Snezhnaya in order to present their acquisition to the Tsaritsa. However, Alectra is unwilling to leave without checking on someone she had somehow grown attached to in Liyue - namely, of all people, the archon himself.  Takes place shortly after the third objective of The Fond Farewell. (1389 words) This piece focuses on my familial selfship with Zhongli. Content warning for discussion of death and grief.
A piece written to commemorate this date, and make concrete the solace brought to me by this character on this day, both last year and this year. This piece of writing is of great significance to me because of what it represents, but I still wanted to share it after having written it out, if that's alright.
Comments on and reblogs of my work are always okay, and appreciated, but they are never required.

Document transcript:
The silver light of the moon shone down over the harbour, reflecting a dozen times in the lazily-lapping waves of the ocean. In the city of commerce itself, however, the lights that glowed were golden, softly shining outside buildings to illuminate the work of the evening. The night was somewhat livelier than usual, owing to the aftermath of the recent troubles afflicting Liyue that still needed to be fully sorted out, and the imminent Rite of Parting that was on the horizon and in many people’s thoughts. However, there were always serene spaces of quiet to be found if you knew where to look, even at times like these.
On one of the paved paths that wound up towards Yujing Terrace, a lone man was staring out over the sea and the city, arms crossed and resting on the barrier.
“Ah, so this is where you went, Mr. Zhongli.”
The voice caused the man to turn his head, looking down at the young woman standing before him. She normally gave off a threatening aura despite her small stature, with her once-corrupting sword in her hand and the blood-red feathers adorning her shoulders and the butterfly-wing mask that covered the left side of her face in ornate gold details - but on this quiet harbourside evening, she appeared decidedly subdued despite all this. Pearlescent teal-green eyes stared up towards his amber ones with an expression that was altogether both soft and sharp; he couldn’t help but feel that she was trying to hold something back.
“Miss Alectra?” he asked her, turning his body to address her with his eyebrows raised in mild surprise. “I must say, I would have expected you to have been on your way out of Liyue already.”
“There are still a few preparations that need to be made before the ship can set sail. And, even if there aren’t- they will wait for me.” she explained.
He smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Most courteous of your fellows.” Then he stopped. “In that case, then.. what brings you here, to have sought me out at this moment?”
She trailed off and looked away somewhat, as if she felt her reason was too trivial. Saying it out loud did not alleviate this feeling, either.
“I just.. wanted to make sure you were alright.” she finally admitted.
“Oh?”
“It’s just-“ She repeated herself, and then stopped, regaining some of her usual even composure to continue with. “For an archon to give up their Gnosis is.. almost inconceivable to most onlookers. After all, as the oldest of the Seven, you have borne its weight for thousands of years. Regardless of what you are, to lose anything that had been so integral would surely be felt by anyone with such an item.”
At her words, the man now known as Zhongli paused - his previous light demeanour had shifted into something more contemplative as he considered her words. Thankfully, both he and Alectra were confident that no other individual was in their vicinity, and so despite the open space, they could both speak freely of their identities; both had known neither was an ordinary human since their first few encounters, after all.
“..You are correct that it was not a decision I made lightly.” he said finally. “However, having witnessed all that has befallen Liyue in recent days.. I am confident that both the Qixing and the adepti will adroitly continue to carry the nation into its new age, in their own individual ways.”
“That.. isn’t what I was concerned for.” Alectra responded, carefully studying his expression. “Although, it is good that you can have faith in this nation’s future. What I meant was - on a personal level - how will you fare in yourself?”
“Ah, so that’s what you were trying to say.” he said with a nod. “Well, I can certainly tell you that things have felt adequate for me thus far. Although it may only have been a short while, I don’t feel as though there’s anything worrying occurring.”
“That’s a relief.” Her words came quickly and loudly, and she visibly seemed to have some tension dissolve from her at his statement. “You.. deserve to get to see what happens next, even if you’ve taken yourself out of the equation. You should get to live your life the way that you want to now.”
“Why, that’s most kind of you to say, my dear.” he replied, understanding the kindness in her words despite the words themselves perhaps not sounding too affectionate. A smile had crept its way onto his face by now, holding both tiredness and gratitude.
She smiled in thanks in return. “I mean it. Besides, if I may touch on this..”
A short silence fell, but she sensed that he was content for her to continue; when she did so, her voice was quiet once again.
“You’re twelve times older than I am, and I am already six times older than what most humans reach. I.. can only imagine the number of friends you must have lost in the time that you have spent here, although I don’t suppose that that alone makes the experience any easier each time. And yet.. well, it must be somewhat surreal for you, to see your city mourning you while you still walk through it freely.”
Then, as she turned her body away to lean over the balcony as he had been doing, he heard another admission that was even quieter still.
“..It’s an awful feeling, being mourned.”
There was a long silence, but then a hand came down onto her shoulder, firmly yet gently.
“If mourning is the expression of one’s grief.. Surely, it would not be wrong to say that such grief is an expression of the love held for those who have passed on. Though no part of this world can truly last for all of time.. This.. is the reason we must treasure the time spent with those that we care for. Even after many years have run their course, it is normal for the feelings to retain the same intensity as they had when the event first occurred. So, for as sad as it may be.. There is nothing wrong with expresssing that sadness, whenever it should happen to rise."
Something in her softened, like a feather melting into snow - and that single feather’s fall was enough to cause a rush of bursting tears from behind the crumbling dam she had tried to maintain since before she had even approached him on this lonely evening.
For all-too-bitter words exchanged between a brother weak from battle and a sister sharp with worry..
For the blameless lives so often torn apart and thrown aside, like pieces on a game board, at the whims of the divine..
For even that original pain, not of death, but of sorrow and anguish screamed through the flames as the nightingale sang to never leave her feeling this way ever again..
Despite how many years it had been, she had never before let herself mourn her own death, and that grief was now swallowing her whole.
Everything was wailing.
And yet, despite it all, he stayed there, as steadfast as stone. In fact, he did more than be some mere unmoving statue - he brought her forwards into a hug, placing his left hand on top of her head.
“This- isn’t right,” she tried to say through her tears, turning her head so that her mask would not dig into his suit as she returned the hold. “I came out here to offer you some solace, not the other way around-“
“That doesn’t mean I cannot be here for you, young nightingale.”
Despite what status he had held as a deity, despite whatever care he may have held or never had for the humans and the smaller little creatures of his own nation - let alone any other ones - the fact remained unchanged that Zhongli was someone Alectra had come to view as something like a father figure, even through the relatively short time they had spent together.
..She held her tongue before the words admitting such could leave it, but the sentiment carried across to him nevertheless.
His eyes glittered as he grieved, and hers flooded as she mourned, and they spent what felt even to them like an eternity holding each other.

Skuld: "She looks very kind." Aria: "Hehe, I agree. Whoever this is - or, I suppose, will be? - seems to be a kind individual. ..I have to admit that she is very pretty, as well." (Not that I'll ever get to meet her, of course.. ..I can't help but wonder what that could be like.)
Here is my piece for today, which is the twenty-seventh day of the month! I actually did most of this back on Saturday, but I knew I wouldn't be able to work on anything today, so I scheduled it for today. It's part of a conversation that was RPed on the KHUX and Dark Road server on Discord, but this shows a bit more of Aria's perspective on the whole thing. I hope it's alright! ^-^
Tag list: @catake | @vampking | @wazzuppy | @cherry-bomb-ships | @call--me--home | @xenobabble | @beeon | @coralward | @crosshairswife | @pandapup | @altamont498 | @mercuryships | @lemonloven (to be tagged in what I make, please see this post!)
Comments on and reblogs of my work are always okay, and appreciated, but are by no means required! Also, if you'd like to know more of the context here, then please look under the readmore.
So! To explain what's going on here, this shows a conversation that Aria had with some others during the age of fairytales, which I and some others acted out on the server last week. Aria was talking to Skuld as well as Nyx (who is off-screen), and showing Nyx one of the Medals that she had to hand. That's why her Keyblade is summoned, specifically in its Diamond Dust-like form because that mode is magic-focused - the menu where you equip Medals to Keyblades in the game had each Keyblade's keychain in the centre of its carousel of slots, so that's where Aria took the Medal she's holding out of.
In this case, it was a Medal depicting Aqua - for context, the Medals used in KHUX are physical objects that allow Keyblade wielders in the age of fairytales to harness the powers of important and powerful people from the distant future (i.e. the time period most of the other games in the series take place in), in order to fight the Heartless. As you can see, Aria has found Aqua attractive since seeing what she looks like in Medals every now and then, although she evidently never expected to actually meet her in-person, considering that (to Aria at the time) Aqua was from a distant future.
However, because Aria became trapped in the realm of darkness, she was able to survive to the present time when Aqua and everyone else are alive, because time does not flow properly within the realm of darkness. And eventually, she ended up meeting Aqua after all, because Aqua herself also became trapped in the dark and Aria flew in to rescue her from a swarm of Heartless. Incidentally, our first meeting face-to-face was what my first ever piece of selfship writing was about, and if you'd like to read it then it is written in this document!
I hope that that clears things up for anyone who may have been confused! Thank you very much for taking the time to read all of this, it really means a lot to me ^-^

I am so sorry, but I have been traveling this past week and I forgot my flash drive that has all the chapters written on it, so I will not be posting chapter 7 of Raising Dominoes until Wednesday when I return home.
In the meatime, here's an old drawing I did of Echo and Fives as I was coming up with ideas for the fic.

a flower, returned (Clio/Aria)
A scene that takes place just after Aria is brought back to Daybreak Town by Clio, who wishes to finally reunite her with the piece of herself she had kept safe all this time. (1293 words) This piece is part of the Darkling AU, and directly follows my previous piece of writing for this selfship. Originally written for a "Welcome back kiss" prompt.
Tag list: @starlit-selfships | @edencantstopfallininlove | @yoomtahsgf | @sunlight-ships | @dragonsmooch | @thatslikesometaldude | @artificervaldi | @keyblade-ships (to be tagged in future work, please see this form!)
(Anyone is welcome to comment on and/or reblog my work, as long as my DNI is respected! A transcript of the document is under the readmore.)
The late morning sun had filled Clio's bedroom with light and warmth in the time since she had left it, but her first act upon getting back was to go over and pull the navy curtains closed, letting soothing shade settle over the space instead. Aria had kept close behind her the whole time, not only to hopefully be safer if she happened to be spotted on the way back, but also to simply appreciate the feeling of finally having someone else close by again.
"You can just sit down on my bed if you want." Clio was saying. "You look exhausted."
"Oh.. Thank you.." Aria quickly came over to perch on the end of the bed, watching as the room became darker and subsequently much easier to see in. This was her first time being invited into Clio's bedroom, so she was taking time to examine her surroundings - it was an open and spacious room with ample wardrobe space built into the wall near the doorway. A jewellery stand adorned with a number of pretty accessories stood on the dresser, and a many-flowered jasmine plant was growing in a terracotta pot sat next to it. It was this that she was staring at when Clio finished closing the curtains.
"I picked that one up from a shop not too far from here, back when I was out with some of the others." she explained, speaking up to fill the silence once she saw where Aria was looking. "I read that they don't like too much sunlight all at once, so I put it on the dresser in case today's mission took a while, and.. I mean, I don't want to jinx it, but it seems to be doing pretty well where I've left it!"
"Yes." Aria stated. "Constant light can be damaging in excess."
"Say, you wouldn't happen to know what this flower means, would you?" Clio asked casually, knowing the affinity she had always had for flower language.
There was then a long pause.
"..I can't remember." she admitted, and looked awfully downtrodden at the fact.
"Oh, that's alright!" Clio smiled to try and ease tension again. "It might say in the book I got, actually, so- don't worry!"
This did little to reassure her partner. "..I should be able to remember. No- I should be able to know. It's.. not good that I can't.."
In return, Clio couldn't help but be confused by her wording. "You should be able to? Did the.. do you think the darkness affected your memory?"
"Less memory, more.. instinct." Aria stated. Then she stopped. A lump caught in her throat, and Clio could see tears starting to form in her eyes again.
"Ari.."
"I have already lost so much.." she began to mumble, voice wavering now as she brought a clawed hand to where her heart would be. "I don't want- I refuse to let anything else of what I am be taken away. Whether by darkness, light, or any other aspect."
Clio opened her mouth to speak, but found she could not find the right words, so she settled for coming over and sitting on her bed next to Aria instead.
"..It'll be okay." she tried again. "You're back in Daybreak Town now."
"..A world of Dandelions, now." she muttered back. "The darkness was not safe for you, and it took something from me. But now, I fear the light here is not safe for me, for how much of it's present here."
Clio couldn't help but feel sad again at that, and reached out to take Aria's hand again, gently running her thumb over the hard parts of her claws, painfully aware of how cold she now was to the touch. In return, Aria simply leaned over to rest her head on Clio's shoulder, away from the spikes of her armour, tilting her wing to embrace her, trying to sense what warmth she still could.
There was a long, but not uncomfortable, silence as the two sat there together side-by-side.
It was Clio who spoke up again to break the silence, as a soft thought settled in her mind.
"Hey, um- There's something I've been meaning to give back to you."
"Mm..?"
Aria tilted her head in confusion as she watched Clio get off of the bed again, this time moving to the table right beside it. On it lay many items one would expect to find in such a spot - an alarm clock, a glass of water, a small pile of scrunchies and hairbands - but also a crown of clovers, woven together in a delicate yet strong wreath that Clio could gladly put back on her head now that she no longer needed to wear her helmet. However, before she did that, she set about dismantling her regalia, removing pieces of it one at a time and carefully setting them down on the floor away from Aria. Finally, her upper half was free of it, showing off her arms as all she was wearing underneath was a black short-sleeved shirt.
Even so, as she turned around, it could be seen that something was still fastened to her chest, right over her heart.
The flower still held the same softness and health as it had when it was gifted, all that time ago before the war - that much could be clearly discerned from the soft shine of its five pale pink petals. Two green leaves curled out from underneath the petals, one sitting just on top of the other, both pointing downwards like overlapping clock hands.
It was not just any cherry blossom, though that was clearly evident from its size - but above any other ways it stood out, it was her flower, a part of her still wholly untainted and free of the weight that the realm of darkness had worn the rest of her down with. A part of her willingly given up to someone who did not even know its true meaning, yet accepted it and treasured it for what it still was - who yet accepted her and treasured her for who she still was - nevertheless.
"You kept it.." was all that Aria could say, taking in the meaning of what she saw with an aura of what seemed like disbelief. She tentatively stood up from the bed to try and get a closer look.
"Of course I did." Clio said reassuringly, lifting the flower from her chest so that it could be put in its rightful place. "It was all I had left of you, and it was a promise that you would come back - so, how could I have not?"
"You really- I- I don't know what to say-" Aria's voice was now shaking with emotion, but she was interrupted when Clio reached out and pulled her cold body into an embrace, carefully placing the flower back where it belonged in the process with her other hand.
There was a moment of pause, as the flower settled back and found the rest - and then all Clio felt was a veritable glow of warmth and love as she held Aria close. She gently eased out of the hug, but only to get to be able to look down and see those catlike eyes of bright amber staring up at her - those eyes that held a visceral, and powerful, and yet no less adoring sense of life behind them now. Despite what the realm of darkness had done to her, and turned her into how she now appeared, no part of her seemed monstrous, anymore.
With a relieved and loving smile, all she could do was lean down and give her girlfriend a kiss on the lips.
"Welcome back, Aria."

Echo's romantic selfships: A Farmer and a Thief (Skye/Emily)

romantic F/O: Phantom Skye (Harvest Moon DS Cute)
character tag: love: prince of the valley (skye)
selfship tag: selfship: a farmer and a thief (skye/emily)
paired self-insert: Emily Azalea
self-insert tag: self‑insert: sprite-seeking sweetheart (emily)
selfship start date: 6th June 2020
comfort sharing romantically: fine with sharing!
==============================
Phantom Skye is an infamous phantom thief and self-proclaimed prince of the stars who is well-known for his mischief among the residents of Forget-Me-Not Valley. Emily Azalea is a shy young woman who recently inherited her mother's old farm in the valley, whose initial sickness accidentally indirectly caused the local Harvest Goddess and Harvest Sprites to be banished from the area. She is now working hard to recover them.
Emily first encountered Skye while bringing a homemade cake up to Romana's mansion on the hill to try and make a good impression, only to be interrupted by Skye being chased out of the mansion by Lumina. She was not at all impressed by his attempts at flirting, even though they work on many of the other girls, but Skye instantly became genuinely infatuated with her, so the two of them ended up running into each other numerous times after that. It's only after Skye drops his normal suave act and shows a bit more of his actual caring self that Emily does start to reciprocate his feelings, though she still does not approve of him being a phantom thief.
Eventually, Emily encourages Skye to pursue his real dream of learning how to make the finest curry in the world, and he eventually settles down to live on the Azalea Farm with her. The two have adopted a cat together, which Emily named Prince (because it reminds her of Skye in terms of its demeanour).

VOCU - VTE-1600B Compact Tape Echo
"Vocu stands for Vivid Output and Capable Unit. This is a super refined and compact tape delay that can be used in any application, from studio to live guitar rigs. This is one of my pride-and-joy pieces, and it sounds and works incredibly well.
Uses the same loops as the Roland Space echo range – a full-featured tape echo that’s a little larger than a paperback book
Accepts mic, instrument or line level inputs
Has three delay modes – 150-600ms, 500-1600ms and a combination of both short and long heads
Has mix/wet-only switch (Cue/Mix Direct) for use as an effects send, controls for Master Level, Echo Time, Repeat and Echo Level as well as Input Level
The Flutter control engages an off-centre plastic wheel against the pinch roller to introduce extra warble and a sense of a machine that's less well-maintained
The Flutter lever will rest at the mid point giving a sensible level of flutter, or can be pushed harder against the pinch roller for momentary bouts of extra warbliness)
POWER: It takes a 15v centre positive power supply "(not included – enquire, we may have something suitable)"
