JK live 21 July 2023 London - Part 1

This is a big one.

So big that I had to split it into 2 parts.

It might feel a little repetitive at times, but here's the thing, JK repeats himself A LOT in this live. He's making a point. Driving it in. Making sure we understand. Like really get where he's going with it.

A defining moment I would say. JK continues to tell it as it is, and he's getting bolder and bolder.

I mean, JK has been giving us these in abundance, but this one is big not only because of what he says during the live, but also the timing of it all.

But before I sink my teeth into the live itself I will start with the numbers. A fun start to it all.

JK started the live on 21 July 2023 11:42 pm or 23:42 London time.

And now let's get it.

Do we start with what he was wearing? Distressed jeans, not sure of the brand, and another Masion Mihara Yasuhiro T-shirt (I think that by now we agree this is the Jeon-park go to brand of late). Also has his bracelet and the pinky ring.

You know - the what seems to be new and special pinky ring (which god dammit he sure did abuse during the live).

Intentional or not, that ring was front and centre during the live, and intentional or not it put the wooga ring theory to rest. You know, the whole Coco Chanel stupidity. Done and dusted.

JK came live telling us he's tired (you could see how tired he was) and was going to wash up and go to sleep. But obviously he had thing he needed to tell us before, so he came live, a little (more like a lot) charged up (alcohol charged up), and understandably so. A little or perhaps in this case a little too much liquid courage can take you a long way if there is much you feel you need to say.

JK told us in his Weverse interview that he puts in thought before doing a live. And even though in this case he said he just turned it on without any thought, perhaps the timing was without any thought, because he did have notes prepared with what he wanted to say on the live (he literally looks through them before he pops off to the toilet mid live). He definitely had things to say, to share, to get off his chest. Being rather intoxicated the way he was I feel like he struggled a bit to articulate at times the message he wanted to convey to us. But at the end of the day/live, I think that the message was rather clear, and I will get to it further on in this post and part 2 of the post.

What I do want to say now is that this young man is phenomenal. He is a phenomenal artist, a worldwide celebrity, and yet he is so real, so genuine, authentic with his fans. He allows us, total strangers in, in ways I have never seen another celebrity allow. He genuinely feels love for his fans and he genuinely wants to be able to have these open sincere conversations with them. How someone can feel malice or hate towards this young man, someone who everyone that gets to actually meet him has nothing but kind and positive words to say about him, I just do not know and will never understand.

So, his promotions are over.

How many days was it since the song dropped?

And that's why he went live.

Was that the alcohol hitting?

2 minutes in and we have the dainty Koo hand.

JK talked about how he had a lot of fun doing the BBC 1 performance. And having army there with him gave him energy. It's something he realised. The difference between having Army in front of him or not, just how big that difference is to him. He also shared that health wise he actually felt worse. Coughing, difficulty breathing (we saw some of it in the behind short of the BBC 1 performance), which, when you think about it, makes his performance even more amazing.

JK repeats this quite a bit in the live. His love for army, how army give him energy, how army push him to be a better person, a better artist. How grateful he is for army. You can also see just how much he misses performing in front of his fans, misses doing their concert. He says it outright, that he’s made to do concerts. Left me wondering if that was him inadvertently spoiling something. With him you never know, lol.

JK also mentioned how he enjoyed performing in the live shows, even though he was off key in the live performance (guess he’s talking about BBC Radio 1).

Listen, the man has been performing live for several days now with a seriously bad cold. A cold that effects your hearing, your throat, your breathing, your voice. And with all that he’s done phenomenally (my word of the day).

Ok, so if I had to tell you in a nutshell what JK talks about in the live (difficult task but I’ll try), I’d have to say that around 90% of this live was JK loving army.

As simple as that.

Drunk sincere JK gushing over army, telling us how much he loves us, how we cheer him on, how hearing army made everything better for his performance, even made his sore throat and coughing go away just before the performance. How army supported him, how he cares for army and loves army. Wait, I feel like I’m starting to repeat myself. Thing is, that’s exactly what JK was doing. 90% of it was that.

Then JK talks about his promotions and how army cheering him on throughout that period made him happy. Well, the good side of sm that is.

The promotion period felt short to him (which it was), and stuff didn't fall into place (GMA's for example), and yet :

This here was JK letting us know he's been monitoring sm.

He knows the good. But he also knows the bad and the ugly. And there is so so much ugly going on right now. Which could also be another reason why he felt the need to come forward and say the things he does later on in the live.

Breaks my heart. Knowing that they know about the crap so called fans come up with on sm. And knowing this JK makes it abundantly clear there is a difference between those 'fans' and army, that he loves beyond imagination.

JK goes on to say, again, how happy he is to meet us. Doing the lives too. Communicating with us. He likes it. Well, we do too.

JK tells us he ate well after the performance given it was his last one and he also drank and is "kind of drunk right now too".

He is so self aware. He knows that being drunk will loosen his tongue. He knows that he might say something he shouldn't say (question asked is according to whom? To Hybe? To the fans? To himself?). And yet he will continue to talk to us.

Again JK telling us he is a person just like us.

He's being open and honest and just showing so much vulnerability.

Can we take a moment and appreciate this? I know I keep repeating myself, starting to sound like a broken record here, but I think we don’t appreciate him enough. I think that much of what he gives us is taken for granted, and it shouldn’t. He is honest and open and wears his heart of his sleeve and allows himself to show us vulnerability. How many idols or celebrities do you know that do that? Let us in. Not all the way just yet, but he wants to. He really wants to be able to show us his true self.

He also wants us to understand that he’s a person just like us.

The whole “let’s be friends” is also part of it. He doesn’t look down at us, and how many celebrities do you know that are like that? That look at you, their fan, at eye level. That don’t feel they are better or more worthy than you. That see themselves as an artist but there to create art for you to enjoy. That are forever grateful for your support of them. That will be happy to acknowledge you if you approach them, even on their free time (and I’m not talking about fucking sasaengs that stalk them, but army that recognize them and dare to talk to them, yeah like the girl at the stop shop in CT).

All he wants is to be able to be honest and act naturally with army. Because, for him “army is the best”.

And he continues, because so what? army is sincere, what is there to hide, being sincere with Army, that's what he wants.

Doesn't need anything else. army is the best. He's comfortable, he's having fun. From now on it's going to be like this.

"We might curse at each other later on..." - so also telling us things we might not like to hear? Like you do with a friend?

He is constantly making a point of a. how important army is to him and b. that he wants to be friends with army, be able to talk to us casually, like a friend, and vise versa, act naturally. Bottom line: did I mention friend zoning yet?

Act natural.

Now that is a loaded term. Because to act naturally means be yourself, no walls, nothing holding you back (well in the context of this is who you are as a human being and not putting on a façade or as JK usually puts it, not wearing a mask). Acting naturally is acting like you want to, like your nature, and not like others want or expect you to. That's how JK wants to be with us. But being like this means lifting that mask. And he's in the process of doing that. He has a little, but even as he puts it later on in the live, there are still hidden parts of him, parts we don't know, and I do think that he is over that. He wants to show us him. No unnecessary masks. Whoever will accept him and love him will. Those that don't, well, you can't be loved by everyone. And this is grown up, mature and very intelligent JK, who understands that, and has decided that he is not going to live his life trying to appease those that will never approve of him, the real him. Those who care about him, he will do everything for. Those that don't, those that hate, as far as he is concerned they can continue to live their lives, he has mentally cut ties with them.

JK talks about how army is better than anything. That he kind of feels bad for his parents because of army's significance to JK. I don't think it's about loving army more than his parents. It's about the importance that army has for JK, army that followed and protected him for 10 years since his debut (a time that his parents weren't really able to be there for him, not as much as army was, is what I think that JK is saying).

And for those people he wants to be honest. He feels that for the people that protected him over the past 10 years, the ones that love him, he owes honesty.

But what is that honesty he keeps talking about? Why does JK feel the need to repeat this time after time during his live? I'd say because he feels that at the moment, until this point in time, he hasn't been fully honest with us. And perhaps he's also a little weary of how army will accept that honesty, how army might react to JK without that mask. I do think that there is so much more coming from JK.

This for him is only an opening shot!

We need a comedic pause for a second here, cause things, they got heavy there for a second. Phew. Thank you JK. Drunk neuro-divergent JK being distracted by the creepy statue, lol.

I actually feel like he himself needed that pause (he takes a few like that throughout the live), and what better than taking the time to pick it's nose, clean dust and have a conversation with a statue?

Now how can you not love that person, eh? I really don't get people that hate him. It's the same level as those that hate JM. Those two human beings are the most precious lovable (add fucking gorgeous too) people EVER. They WERE clearly MEANT for each other. So how can people hate either of them? Both of them? Who they are as individuals or as a couple? How????????

But obviously there are many who do. Sad. It's sad they exist and I also feel sorry for them too. Because being filled up with so much hate that you feel the need to turn it on someone who is a stranger to you, someone so loveable as those two young men means you are a very sad and unhappy person yourself.

Ok, this wasn't supposed to get too deep. Not this part. This was supposed to be the fun part of this post.

JK goes on to give us a little more detail about his dinner - with staff celebrating the end of his short promotions. He ate and drank, which was hard work, lol. He says he's a pretty simple person, enjoys the simple things, but regrets he also forgets them pretty fast, and wants to make an effort to make the memories and feelings last longer.

JK, like RM, Suga and JM before him talks about the day they comeback together. It’s not about if, it’s about when this happens how wonderful it will feel. You can see he is genuinely excited for it. "it's going to be amazing". His words.

And once again he talks about his gratitude and how thankful he is to army for today (his performance), and for the experiences he had, and will need to put much more effort.

When I said that 90% of this live is JK talking about army, his love for us and what he needs and wants to do for army I wasn’t kidding. This is the thread right through the whole live. Army love him. Army cheer for him. He has to do more for army. Be worthy of our love for him.

As much as we give him love, he needs to fill something for all of us, and he is trying to.

But he also wants to be comfortable with army (again, something he repeats multiple times through the live). And this, my friends, is where JK friend zones us. Like completely. Like with no shame, lol.

This is also when JK lets us know he knows he's being criticized online. He drinks, that's him. People might not like it, it's their prerogative - "do whatever you want". And this is also not the last time JK mentions being criticized for drinking or being disliked/hated.

JK being super chill, and yet tells it as it is:

In other words, when JK talks about the army he loves, the army he is grateful for, the army he feels indebted to, well, that most definitley doesn't include those that are hating on him, or those that will not accept him for who HE is, real JK, the one that wants to feel comfortable when interacting with army, the one that wants to be himself and not a puppet or persona that is being forced on him. He is past that. And he is being loud and clear about it too.

"We might be strangers but I want to feel comfortable with you".

Act natural, be comfortable, those words on repeat. JK driving it in again and again.

He wants to get closer, and closer, again, means bringing down those boundaries around him.

Please tell me who asked him to grow a beard in the comments, I'm coming for them... Thankfully he just doesn't have that facial hair growth, phew. Can he pass that on to my husband please? I mean, shaving in the morning and by late afternoon try to get near him you'll be stabbed in the face.

I digress, my husband's facial hair is most definitely not something you would be interested in.

JK's on the other hand...

Well, according to him he literally has none, so there you have it.

Love how every time he's either checking out his skin or his facial hair we are getting a JM in our face. Fun!! He does say he wanted us to have fun!!

And here comes the comment about the 'dirty' version of Seven.

Love love love love the way JK dealt with this one.

Yes, he might have been a little all over the place, but first of all his reaction to calling it dirty. Second, even almost as drunk as a skunk he kept his composure and tried to explain his pov.

This is one of the times he reminds us of his age, of how many years it's been since his debut. And this is something I felt he was trying to achieve by releasing the explicit version of the song - the understanding that he is no longer a child. That the fandom needs to accept he is a grown up, stop infantilizing him. That he can say fucking and the world will not stop turning on it's axis. That he can sing about sex, that he, god forbid, might be actually having sex too (like the reaction of some of this fandom to this song, as if this is a revelation, something unbeknown to us all, that JK, a 25 yo man, is sexually active).

And when he says he's almost 28 yo (Korean age) and goes on to say "but I know why army loves me", is his acknowledgement of said infantilizing. The fact that army see him as the youngest, the maknae, and not a full on grownup. And those are things he was thinking about while deciding which version to release.

He wants acknowledgement as a grown up and as an artist and he felt that he needed to release the two versions to achieve that.

He wanted to change that image of him, and for that he needed to change himself.

He wants us to accept him, the changed him, but he's not going to force us to.

So here's the thing. This isn't even half way through the live. And there is still so much more to come.

There are a few words that keep coming up on repeat in the live that I can think of off the top of my head.

Army, of course, grateful, fun, happy, natural, comfortable. All seem to be said with ease, even lightly, but all with extremely deep meaning behind them.

I'll leave you with that food for thought. Why is he repeating these words? What is he trying to tell us? What next?

How would Jungkook and Snowball's firt public appearance or weverse live go after their relationship was confirmed to the public?

He's nervous to say the least.

And it's definitely awkward in the beginning because he knows he should talk about it. "Hm, I think you've already read the announcement, right?" He asks the fans in the comments, who all seem to have very different reactions.

There's the flood of purple hearts probably meant to drown out potentially upsetting comments- but he still catches them, here and there. "Please don't be upset with Snowball. She- it really did just happen out of nowhere to be honest." He sighs, rubbing his inked arm a bit nervously. "It's hard to explain. When you fall in love, at least for me, it happens over time. I don't notice it until it's happened." He shrugs, looking away as he attempts to find good words. "And I felt like it might be unfair to you guys if I was to hide it or even lie. I couldn't do that." He shakes his head, earning another wave of emojis.

He can see the angry comments though. The disappointment here and there, the hate towards you, even threats are falling through the cracks here and there.

It scares him. What if someone's crazy enough to truly attempt something like that?

"I hope you can still find it in you to.. maybe continue supporting me. Nothing will really change just because- well, just because I've got Snowball at my side now." He nods to himself. "She's, private? I think that's a good way to put it. She's my privacy, and you guys can respect that, right?" He asks, hopes that it might turn some people around.

The media still attempts to tear you apart over the next few days though. He? He can take the heat. He knows he's not being a creep or using you for anything- he doesn't mind getting hate. But it's different when they write about you.

So much stuff is getting made up. Scandals that never happened. Old footage suddenly searched for any glimpse of a mistake or flaw. You're being picked at as if a corpse surrounded by hungry hyenas.

And he hates it.

But he doesn't back away from it either, knows that it would only make things worse if he shows any form of weakness now. So he still decides to fly out to the UK with you in tow, holding your hand almost as if to provoke- and he honestly didn't mean to, technically.

Still- some delusioned 'fans' break through the barriers, grab after your tail, making you yelp out in pain as security has to harshly pull it from the stranger's grasp, before you're both pretty much pushed towards the gate to the plane, where you both sit down inside, getting ready to fly out.

Jungkook feels awful-

Especially when you smile at him of all things.

"Can I sleep during the flight?" You ask him easily, struggling a little to buckle your seatbelt on the plane with your shaky hands, the only proof of panic right now in your body language.

And he silently reaches out to help you instead, before he holds your cheek, smiling encouragingly as well.

"Of course." He tells you. "It's a long flight after all." He tries to stay casual, and you nod, eyes tearing up as you nod, emotions seemingly catching up slowly.

"..and can we cuddle when we're at the hotel?" You ask, voice cracking and hurting him in the process as he pets your ear encouragingly. He needs to stay strong for you now, no matter how scared he is himself.

You can't have that.

"All night long." He promises towards you, before he watches how you lean into him once the plane is in the air, your head against his shoulder.

He's not sure how he's gonna get through this moving forwards-

But he will.

For you.

And that he did man went live and had a whole vent on how he raised engenes better and there should be no reason for them to bully one of his close friend. No one was surprised when sunghoon confidently said you were his ideal type/crush ,, you guys basically grew up together and you were his girl version ,, same goals and skills. He didn't see anything wrong with his actions so when you called him asking him if he's gone insane he just shrugged it off ,, thinking you haven’t eaten and that you're extremely cranky so he will order you food and call it a day. Realizes its a problem when he opens Twitter to see engenes bashing you left and right ,, will post something on weverse telling engenes to calm down as you've bro-zoned sunghoon more than 10000x …which only made it worst because who bro-zones THE Sunghoon?? Will give up on trying to calm his fans down and instead just tells you that bashing you is how they show love :p

Sunoo was in the middle of recording ,, the boys and him had a day off and he decided to go shopping. Their manager told them to film for engenes ,, as he was in the middle of picking colognes for his members his eyes landed on a perfume/colognes. He quickly made his way toward it ,, “would y/n like this?” He asked himself as he sprayed a little on his wrist to smell it. Honestly he didn't even realize that was caught on camera and he just expected the editing team to take it out …but they didn't. Sunoo felt horrible when he saw how mean engenes were being toward you ,, so during one of his vlive’s he made sure to tell engenes that people have feelings and they need to be nicer.

You and Jungwon have been invited to be on knowing brothers ,, despite already knowing each other you both agreed this could better your friendship. You guys were currently scribbling on the board ,, you were in the middle of drawing a random character from one of your favorite animes before your attention was stolen by heechul as be pointing out what Jungwon had wrote on the board ,, “they're very pretty :p” was written with an arrow next to it pointing towards you. You were shocked at what Jungwon had written but whispered a small thank you as you kept doodling. Once the cameras stopped rolling your manager came up to you and showed you his phone to be faced with engenes bashing you for your lack of reaction to Jungwons message and also because he wrote it to begin with. You could hear someone running towards you and you were met with a bowing Jungwon who was apologizing on engenes behavior before he ran back to where he came from. Was Dry towards engenes for a week on weverse for their horrible behavior ,, #disappointedfatherpt2

Everyone knew you and niki for being a playful mc duo ,, you guys were very close as you guys shared a lot in common especially a love for dancing. During a vlive with sunoo engenes asked niki who was his ideal type/crush to which your name slipped out his mouth as he smiled at the camera before looking back down at the tablet in front of him. A lot of people were very nice and respectful to nikis choice but of course there was that other half who couldn’t let the kid get a break. When niki started reading a bunch of harsh and rude comments made about you he shook his head and lifted his head to look at the camera again “bad ,, please be respectful towards y/n :( ,, or I will not hesitate-“ he cut himself off with a small smirk and looked back down at the tablet …will probably never tell engenes what he meant but hey at least he got them to stop :D

I ain't gonna lie. JK kinda being a bit of a shit stirrer today. Why is he posting pictures adding up to 13 like he's baiting Jimin, but posting the food in the same set of dishes that Tae owns? Tae already showed that dish set in his story not long ago. Kinda like that day JK said Jimin was his, but turned around and said Tae was his. JM's in NY minding his business, while JK's kinda being messy. Well, at least both sets of shippers are happy & fighting at the same time over who JK is really posting for.

2) Remember when Jimin said the best part that represented him was the timestamp 1:23 on the One Day MV?

Remember how JK started recommending songs to army and pausing the songs at 1:23? He did this continuously without fail. (Manilla fight)

When Jikookers started celebrating this guess what the vermin did? They took the 123 theory and decided to relate that to Vkook. Even though they never would have done that shit, if Jikookers didn't point it out. According to them, 123 was about Tkk because V was born on 12th December 🤦🏽‍♀️

Shouldn't it have been 1230 then?? Why did they get rid of the 0? For convenience as always. 🙄🙄 Well, joke's on them, because JK stopped doing this. This is one of the earliest moments of JK debunking Tkkrs.

3) When Jkkrs noticed the JM and started talking about it.

The vermin said the tiger was about them. Because V's animal is a tiger.

Fuck the fact that the tiger and Korean culture go hand in hand. But guess what JK did when he met Poly C? He👏🏾covered👏🏾that👏🏾shit👏🏾up! Sure the man and the rest of BTS hated how the SK government were treating them. Sure he hates how he can't even show the world who he's in love with due to his homophobic country, so he decided the Tiger didn't mean that much to him after all. But I bet he saw a chance to kill 2 birds with one stone and he did. Fuck SK and fuck Tkkrs. Boom! Done.

4) When Karmy nick named Jikook the Sun and Moon duo because satellite Jeon is always orbiting Jimin like the moon orbits the sun, The vermin also started calling Tkk the Sun and Moon duo. Their reason? Don't ask me. Idk and idc. Too bad though, coz even BH knows who are the REAL Sun and Moon duo

5) While we are on the "mine" topic. Karmy already explained the difference between JK saying Jimin is his Vs when he said (warning RIP your algorithm if you click on this) V is his. According to Karmy, with V it came off more like a statement. With Jimin it was possessive, AF. And I agree. For context: An army asked JK to give Jimin to them and JK was like; he's mine. But here is what u have to keep in mind. The V one came way, way, waaaaaay later than the Jimin one. As soon as he said Jimin was his, the vermin kept pestering JK with the same thing the former Army asked about Jimin. So going by JK's tone, it seems to me like he said what he said about V, to shut them up. 🤷🏽‍♀️ The difference is in the tone, guys. U don't gotta be Korean to hear it.

These are just a few examples. And now you're telling me, even though our numbers theory makes more sense, Tkkrs are claiming what JK is doing on weverse for themselves because of a plate?? A plate? Really.

This is just like when they decided Tkk went snowboarding because of a pair of shoes. Like no one else owns those shoes apart from JK and V 🤡 Again, someone please explain to me how people take them seriously. Please. They want what we have soooooo bad. They have always wanted what we have.

And the vermin did not bat an eye. Not one fucking peep from them. But in the same memories 2021, Jimin gets embarrassed and does the simple act of hiding his face in JK's neck (something he has done for years BTW)

BTS shippergate

(lol I just like saying xyzgate about any little drama so here we go.)

What is shipper’s issue with Taehyung recently and when did he become public enemy #1?? I am definitely on the 'Taehyung is smarter than people give him credit for' train but never did I think he was the evil mastermind some people think he is. Are we all really being serious or are a lot of your complaints about him colored in a jikooker, taekooker, taennie, y/n lens?? I’d go with the latter cause the things some of the aforementioned groups of people have said about Taehyung in the past few months can only be cooked up in a cauldron of delusion.

Let’s get this straight— Taehyung is not interacting with his friends/group mates (who he’s known for 10+ years, mind you) to feed shippers. It’s the way y’all will go to war with this idea that Tae wants to use Jungkook to cover up his alleged relationship. First of all, you’re giving him way too much credit. Who do you think Taehyung is that he can use Jungkook or Jimin or any other member for that matter, and keep doing it for as long as you claimed he has, without that member saying something about it. Do you think Jungkook is so scared of Taehyung that he can’t tell him to not mention his name on weverse? You always talk about “he knows how much hate Jungkook and Jimin get when he does this” does he? Now I’m not saying the boys are totally oblivious on the matter of ships but I definitely don’t think they see as much as y’all think they do. A lot of the things shippers talk about are very niche things that you would have to actively seek out for the most part, at least based on my experience. And this is just the english side of things, I don’t really know what the shipper climate is like on the korean side so it’s hard for me to entertain the idea that he knows about the things we (girl idek much) know about and doesn’t care. It’s also interesting to me that this claim is coming from jkkers when Jimin was treated similarly for years every time he so much as breathe in JK’s direction. i thought y’all will understand but I guess you’re fighting fire with fire…

But before we even get into all of that, why are we here in the first place? Why can’t we ever take anything the guys say or do just as it stands? I’d be with you guys if it was only silly little jokes but it isn’t. You guys are taking it so seriously and starting one sided beef with a man who probably wouldn’t know what you’re talking about. Why can’t something that was meant to be a joke between friends not just come across as such to you unless it fits your narrative? Why can’t two friends go to a movie premiere without it being seen as either a big ‘coming out’ moment or a PR stunt and nothing in between? (it can be because we saw 94z at an event and no one acted this weird, it’s always the maknaes smh) It’s because many shippers have reduced everything these men post, say or do as a hint of their relationship. Not everything they do has to do with a ship, whether you think that ship is real or is being used as a cover for some other relationship. Taehyung can post Jungkook on insta just because he wants to, he can talk about him 25/8 and no one should care unless JK says he has a problem with it. It’s just that many times shippers draw baseless conclusions from things that don’t even matter. It comes from that inability to separate the fact presented in front of you from the stories you make up in your minds. If this doesn’t change I can see this continuing to be a problem. We’ll see the same cycle of events occur if JK or Jimin ever end up in rumors like this (gawd i hope not, i’ve aged 64 years) because you guys refuse to leave room for deniability. I am not saying this as someone who thinks they’re holier than thou for not shipping the members but i’m saying this as a shipper myself. You cannot believe in a ship 100% because we do not know these people’s life, all we see is barely 4%.

Now taekookers who are switching up on Tae. I must say— this one is on you and i don’t know what else to tell you.

I’m not gonna repeat myself too many times cause this all comes down to the fact that you lot convinced yourself FOR YEARS that Tae so much as looking in JK’s direction meant he was hinting that they were married and in love. Taehyung has never told y’all explicitly that he was dating JK (if anything he’s showed signs that he isn’t, but let’s talk about this another day) so it’s not his problem that all your walls are now cracking. I think the state of that ship rn shows that a lot of y’all didn’t really like Taekook in the first place cause how does one of them possibly being in a different relationship cause y’all to jump ship so quick. Now I’m not telling you to start more discourses to deny Taennie, let it rest i beg. What i’m saying is Taekook still exists. Taehyung can have 20 *confirmed* girlfriends and 10 *confirmed* boyfriends and Taekook will still exist because at the end of the day they’re friends before anything else. But i guess if I was also preaching and fighting with others FOR YEARS about my ship being real I will also be throwing a temper tantrum right now. Anyway, if y’all are leaving you can just do it quietly, all of this is uncalled for. You’re just embarrassing yourselves.

Unto my last point, Taehyung isn’t obligated to be some protector of Jennie on the internet. They’re both involved in this mess and if any of them wanted to say anything or protect each other from their fans being equally as nasty to the other, they both have the means and platforms to do so. I don’t get this double standard that Tae has to protect her while she can just go about doing whatever she wants. And it’s honestly so dumb to be advocating for Jennie when (if we’re assuming they’re in a long term, loving relationship) she can just as easily tell her man what she wants/needs from him and whatever happens there is really not our concern. It’s also ridiculous cause what do you want him to do?? I’m genuinely curious.

Anyway i’m gonna end here because there’s no way I can go on without this giving me a stress ulcer. It’s not like I was surprised by any of this (y’all are predictable), I knew Tae would get hated no matter what he did after Paris and it’s going to keep happening once all of this is still in the air. Now, I get this whole taenniegate thing is a big deal, it’s confusing as shit and I acknowledge that. I can even acknowledge people having thoughts and opinions on the matter because we’re only human but some people, on every side you can think of, have definitely lost the plot. Let’s get it together!

or: jikookers’ taennie protectors era

Since we’re all open to differing opinions here, this is gonna be a totally different one. Let me rant in my side account so you don’t grab your torch and pitchforks on my main. I’m talking to a wall here but i need to let it out.

I agree that something changed in the air re: Tae and yes I do think it started after Taennie’s photos were leaked BUT HEAR ME OUT.

Try to remember how it was when gurumi surfaced. Seeing the whole thing unfold in real time was horrible—people waiting on the latest photos, fans from both sides scrambling to cover it up saying it’s edited or it’s not them. It was messy. But anyone with eyes and a decent brain knew they were real photos. So it’s extra scary.

It started in August. By October, headlines looked like this:

A whole iCloud account was involved. There was a group chat with hundreds of people. Threats from the awful leaker were THIS bad:

And even then, people were disgustingly excited about an impending dating scandal instead of being concerned about artists’ privacy. Go figure. It was a really, really bad time.

So let me be the really odd one out among jkkrs by saying I understand and genuinely accept why Tae had to amp up tkk interactions AND I’m not calling him out on it. Let me even go as far as saying tkkrs (and Jenlisa shippers i think) were the silver lining during the peak of the Taennie revelations.

Tae and Jennie can’t afford to be found out now, period. We all saw the reaction of the two fandoms and the malicious nosiness of the media after the “accidental” IG follow. And it was just that. What more if it’s a full-blown dating scandal? So any little contribution against the exposé helps, whether it’s proving that they’re in different locations, or appeasing and/or fueling rabid same-sex shippers so they can water down loud intrigue as well as support for Taennie.

I understand why a lot of jikookers, jimin lovers, don’t approve. It fuels the cult and validates them. And some of us are worried it fuels more hate against Jimin. But in a bigger picture, does a few tweaks in Tae’s behavior, a few more tkk interactions, really significantly change things for the worse? It really doesn’t, I think, because even if tkk don’t interact, the cult’s constant hating on Jimin will still be a thing.

I think it’s more of us we’re really thinking about here. How Tae’s actions hurt us because it fuels a cult that spreads hate against Jimin. But for Jungkook, Jimin, Tae? What their haters (and shippers) do is insignificant to them. They don’t go around looking for the hate. They see it on the weverse lives, yeah, but I’m pretty sure they’re (sadly) desensitized already. It’s been like that ever since. If they ever feel it’s too much even for them, they’ll call it out the way Joon did.

So let Tae do his thing and let the boys help, yeah? Let the cult be validated because that actually helps a lot in the short term. Taennie don’t have the luxury to be in the middle of a dating scandal in such a transitional, unstable time. All eyes are on them.

At his very core, Tae doesn’t bullshit, please. That’s what I love about him the most. When it got bad before and Jennie’s friend was involved, he acted immediately.

So for Tae to behave the way he is doing now—it’s because he HAS to. It helps.

It’s not just Jikook who knows how to be loud to those who listen, Tae does too. He’s also trying his best to be loud to those listening. Did you watch his latest live? The song he played? Snippets of songs he’s written? Have you been seeing how more romantic Tae’s been the past year? Man’s so in love he can barely contain it.

He could rival Jungkook in the fight for the bigger hopeless romantic (but Jungkook just had to do a series of indisputable-number-1-fan things just weeks ago so he’s still the OG smitten lover boy lol look at him).

Anyway, Tae’s not one to hide but this time he has to because it has serious ramifications to their careers. They’re two of the biggest stars in SK, heck, two of the biggest Korean stars in the world. Both of their groups have a global reach. They have so much to lose.

So please give Tae a break :( Taennie (and Jikook and all of them) are not one-dimensional characters. They’re human and they want to be able to live like humans. If you were in Tae’s shoes, and it’s tried and tested that your actions towards your bandmate—no matter how horrible your shippers are—doesn’t even directly affect their partner/your other bandmate, you might just be doing the same. It’s not even a big deal.

Bottomline is I’m acknowledging the change in Tae’s behavior; I’m just not against it because it doesn’t affect Jikook and it’s not ill-intentioned. He’s only playing the people who want to be played, and that shouldn’t be a large portion of us on this side, because his target audience for that is waaaay over there in rainbow text land.

When you fully absorb that thought, I swear you’ll easily get over that dreadful feeling you have when you see tkk interact and you’re anticipating the cult’s reception of it.

[When I have energy, I’ll let out my precious thoughts on vmin’s relationship because that’s another thing. tl;dr is what they’re showing—or not showing—is also not a big deal for me.]

It was on a Saturday in October that Namjoon took to Weverse to declare the results of his most recent physical. He questioned himself as he wrote it out, would Army care? Does Army want to know his fitness goals? He’s proud of his body, proud of its growth and ability to perform high energy, high powered dances while spitting bars nearly as fast as Yoongi. Not to mention his brain but being an intellectual came easy to him. Namjoon wrote his post, sharing with Army that he was working out 5 days a week, on a diet and pushing himself harder than before. He wanted his body fat to be at 10% or lower, a full 5% less than his current state. He wanted Army to be proud of him. To see his dedication to them and to himself. He couldn’t preach love yourself, as you are, to Army if he didn’t believe it.

Once it posted, he set his phone down and went to make dinner with you.

You didn’t look up when he came into the kitchen. Your eyes were glued to your phone, having received the notification that Namjoon had posted. You read the translation quickly before turning the music up and trying to push it from your mind.

You were delighted by your body. Namjoon loved your body. But the shame from his post started to wash over you as you moved through the kitchen, nodding at whatever he was saying. You turned quickly, bumping into him, spilling the warm contents of the pot all over your shirts.

“Fuck!” You yelled, the hot liquid hitting your stomach. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”

You reached for the kitchen towel and realized it was no use. You haughtily stomped off to the bathroom to try and rinse some of it out before it stained. Namjoon followed behind you, needing to change his shirt too, and frankly concerned that you’d gotten so upset.

“You can borrow something,” Namjoon said moving past you into the closet.

“No, I can’t,” You snipped. You tried to move your soaked shirt in a way that both covered you and kept some of the wet parts off your body. You looked and felt ridiculous.

“Why not?” He asked, slipping his shirt off. He looked at you quizzically.

“Because,” You responded, eyes down cast, trying to blink the tears away.

Because?” He stepped closer to you, gently placing a hand under your chin. He wanted to see your eyes, to see your heart. What had happened that had made you afraid of showing him yourself?

“It won’t fit,” Your voice was only audible to him because he held you so close, unwilling to let you hide. You can hear him taking a breath, realization hitting him.

“Do you want to run home and get something-

“No, Namjoon, whatever, it’s fine,” You said as you started to move away from him.

“Babe, I didn’t mean-

“I know you didn’t, I’m not mad,” Your voice wavered.

“Then what are you?” He asked, sitting on the bed.

“Embarrassed,”

“Don’t be, baby,” He tried to pull you to him, but you stepped back.

“How can I not be, when you’re posting about how you’re at almost at 10% body fat and I’m living in a body that’s three times that! How can I not be embarrassed when I come to my boyfriend’s house and I can’t even borrow clothes when I need to?” Your voice filled the bedroom. The furniture absorbed what it could, taking every decibel down a peg to soften the reality that you were throwing at Namjoon.

“I, I don’t know what to say. I love your body; do you want me to prove it to you?”

“No. I just, maybe I need to go home. Sleep it off,”

“I don’t want you to,” He said.

“There’s nothing that you’re going to say that’s going to make me feel better. There’s nothing to do tonight, I’m upset and I’m feeling really fucking insecure.” You leaned against the wall, pausing to look at your boyfriend. His shoulders were slumped, his eyes were fiery and defeated. He didn’t know what to do, and you could tell that he was trying to negotiate with himself. Concede to something he didn’t think he needed to, and comforting you by reenforcing things you already knew.

“I,” You sighed. “There is nothing wrong with you wanting your body fat to be so low, to work out five times a week, that is what you choose to do with your time and your life. You rap and dance for hours. Our bodies are always going to be different. I just, I wasn’t expecting you to post something so…”

“So what?” Namjoon asked. He didn’t feel bad about his body, and about his fitness. He felt bad that you were upset, and he wouldn’t take it down.

“Vulnerable, and just, I’ve never seen anyone be that open except when Taylor Swift said she’s healthier and happier at a size six instead of double zero… People talk about weight loss journeys, not fitness journeys. It caught me off guard,” You said, sitting down next to him.

“It’s hard work, and I’m really trying. I want to be as fit as I can be, for BTS, for me… I’m trying to see how far I can go.”

“I know, and I admire you so much for that.” You said.

“I feel insecure too,” Namjoon responded.

“Tell me about it,” You said, wrapping an arm around his waist and resting your head against his shoulder.

“You know I don’t fit the traditional beauty standards… You know what people say,”

“Namjoon, I have no idea what people say about you other than you’re sex personified, and holy shit have you seen his thighs? Oh, and your smile,” You said.

Yes, you were part of the BTS Army. Yes, you read the thirst tweets and shared the kinkiest fan fiction with him, sometimes to recreate it, sometimes to watch him become increasingly uncomfortable… yes you know thousands if not millions of people wanted Namjoon in the ways only you knew. But BTS hate wasn’t anything you’d looked into or read about. Not because you were dating Kim Namjoon, or that you thought the hate would seep into how you viewed your lover, mostly because who the fuck cared? You knew Joon’s heart, what made him laugh, what made him feel loved. That’s what mattered to you.

“To be tall, have a strong jaw, a European nose… Double eyelids, to be rich and intelligent,”

“Aren’t you most of those?” You asked, curious how he could not be any ones ideal. Had they seen Namjoon? His eyes? That smile? His laugh. The spread of his hands, the way he tilted his head to the side, how he curled into himself when he was cold? There were many days where just the sight of him breathing sent you into a frenzy. Not to mention when you discussed politics, finance, religion, love, anything and everything. There was nothing sexier than Kim Namjoon’s intelligence… except him stepping out of the shower.

“No, I don’t have all of them. Think about it, Jin is the most traditionally handsome member of BTS. He’s literally Worldwide Handsome, if you look at us together, I don’t compare.”

“So, you’re focusing on something you can control?”

“I, yes,”

“Your strength.” You filled in his thought. You could feel him nod, his inhale rattling against you.

“Look at Jungkook,”

“Okay,” You turned your body to face him, tucking a leg underneath you. He did the same, and placed a hand on your thigh.

“He spends hours working out, perfecting his body, meticulously learning dance moves.”

“Joon, do you want to do that?”

“I,” he sighed. “I want to be the best version of myself, physically, mentally.”

“I want to be that for myself too. I’m worried you’re comparing yourself too much,”

“How can you not?”

“I mean, yeah you’re surrounded by six other stunning men. Of course you’re going to compare yourself. But, Joon, don’t forget they’re human too, they’re all flawed.”

“I know, I just,” He looked down. You knew he was searching for the words. Writing lyrics were one thing, but expressing his intimate thoughts were another.

“What?” You prompted, moving your hand to cup his cheek, thumb rubbing over his cheek bone.

“I can’t help it.”

“I don’t want you to work yourself to the bone, Namjoon.”

“I won’t,” He held your gaze, a silent promise.

“You could hurt yourself or do permanent damage.”

“I’m being smart,” He reassured. He was. They had trainers and instructors. He knew how to safely use the equipment… but that’s not what you meant.

“That’s what Jung Kook thinks, and Jimin. How many times have they gotten hurt because they’ve pushed themselves too far? I’m nervous that you’re going to push and push until there’s nothing left.”

“I won’t,” He promised.

“Promise me,” You whispered. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Namjoon said before lightly placing his lips on yours.

“Can we toss this shirt in the wash?” You asked, pulling away.

“Are you going to walk around in your bra?” He asked, immediately excited by the idea.

“Yes, it’s cute.” You said, pulling your still wet shirt over your head.

“You’re trying to tease me?” Namjoon feigned shock.

“No, I’m trying to find a good solution, because you don’t want me to leave, and I was really looking forward to spending the night with you.” You responded, tossing the shirt at him.

“I have shirts that will fit you.” Namjoon said, standing. His statuesque figure staring down at you made you feel all types of ways.

“Maybe, but what’s worse is trying them on and them not fitting at all and having to tell you that.” You said moving towards the door out of the bedroom.

“Do you want to try?” He offered.

“Why don’t I go see what’s left of dinner, and you can rummage for a few options, and I’ll mosey on back to see what you’ve found. If they don’t work, I’ll just hang out in my bra while my shirt is washed.”

“That’s a plan,” He responded.

“And then, after you’ve done the dishes, you can take my bra off, shirt or no shirt.” You winked.

“Can I fuck you on the counter?” He called after you, smile on his face.

“Oo, think you’ll have the strength after I blow you on the couch?” You laughed, your rolls jiggling along with you.
