💋Transfer Proof💋
Joel x Fem Reader (1.4k WC) (18+ MDNI!!)
Tumblr media
Summary: You needed a way to test out a new lipstick that claimed to be transfer proof. You knew just how you were going to.
Warnings: Smut (obvi), PWP, deepthroating, cum eating, submissive Joel, slight begging?
AN: Hello my bees! I’m obviously back again with late night Joel brainrot because who else consumes my brain this late. 😮‍💨 This is very loosely proofread, sorry. Almost scrapped this idea before a rush of inspiration finally arrived 😅 I really hope you enjoy! As I’m still new to writing and posting fics on here, I’d appreciate any feedback!! I love you all sooooo much! Thanks for reading! 😊
SMUT UNDER THE CUT! MDNI!!
For a while, you had been needing some new makeup. Your stash at home was running low. Even worse, you had a party to go to next week with Joel and there was no way you could salvage anything from your dwindling supply. So that morning you kissed Joel goodbye and headed off to a cosmetics store.
You sighed as you pulled into the parking lot, stepping out of your car and into the makeup store. You were familiar to the place, the usual top 100 billboard hits playing, the bright lights pointing in every which direction, and the deals that were plastered on every wall.
You looked around for a while, grabbing your usual items. Before you checked out, you saw a brand you enjoyed release a new line of lipsticks.
‘Matte and Transfer proof’ it read. You narrowed your eyes at the product. Every time a lipstick claimed to be transfer proof you were met with the disappointment of it fading throughout the day. You shrugged, knowing you’d regret not getting it later if it was actually transfer proof.
You found a shade that you thought beautifully complemented your undertone and smiled. You then placed your items to be checked out and had a silent victory when the cashier offered you a discount.
Walking to your car, you thought about ways to test the lipstick.
You could always just kiss the back of your hand after it dried, but you’d done that before and it wasn’t always the most accurate testing.
Maybe you could go out to eat with Joel and see how the lipstick held up then? No, you didn’t want to be seen with smudged makeup in public.
You huffed and got into your car, deciding you’d figure it out at home.
Once you got home, you engulfed Joel into a hug.
“How’d it go, darlin?” He rubbed your back in a soothing way, looking at you with admiration.
“Fine, got my usual. How’ve you been here?” You caressed his cheek, scratching his scruffy beard.
“Missin’ you.” He kissed you softly, pulling your waist closer to his body and letting out a content hum.
You snickered before pushing him away, rolling your eyes playfully and walking into the bathroom to place your new items in your makeup bag.
You zipped open your bag and unwrapped your usual items, throwing out the empty ones. Your hand got to the bottom of the shopping bag and pulled out the lipstick you had decided get at the last second.
You eyed it for a moment before taking off the plastic covering around the product. You took the cap off of the lipstick and admired the beautiful color you had picked.
You swiped the product on your bottom lip before smushing your lips together and rubbing the product in. With a pop, you admired how the shade sat on your lips with a soft smile.
You added a touch of extra makeup on your face in order not to look a little silly with just lipstick on.
Tilting your head from side to side, you checked yourself out, quickly getting used to the color. The dress that you’d picked out would pair with this lipstick like a dream.
After a while of looking into the mirror, you noticed it had dried down.
‘Matte and Transfer Proof’ You remembered.
“Sweetheart?” Joel’s raspy voice could be heard along with the knocking at your door.
“Come here, sweetheart. Our show is on.” He knocked once more before walking back to the living room, flopping down on the couch.
That’s when the idea hit you.
You knew exactly how you were going to test this lipstick out.
A couple moments later, you walked out of your room, the makeup still adorning your features. Joel was content to see you walking towards him. He quirked a curious brow at you before speaking.
“What’s got you all dolled up, baby?” He smiled, patting the space next to him. You rolled your eyes playfully, not responding to him. Joel’s legs were spread apart, his arms resting on the couch. He looked so damn sexy.
You then got down on your knees between his legs and began to unbuck—
“W-Woah! The hell you doin’?” Joel scrambled to grab your hands with a cherry red blush painted on his face.
“Wanna test somethin’ out.” You stated and shrugged as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. You swatted his hands away and continued to unbuckle his belt, unzipping his jeans like you had done a thousand times before.
Joel was an utter mess underneath you, sputtering and stuttering as you reached his boxers.
Did Joel know what the hell was going on?
No.
Was he going to stop you?
Fuck no.
You pulled down his boxers just enough so his already hard cock could spring out. You then spat on the twitching dick, lubing it up.
You gave him a couple of quick strokes before licking a long stripe from his trimmed base to his leaking tip. He groaned as you kitten licked his tip a couple times. Finally, you wrapped your lips around his length.
You bobbed your head up and down him, a mixture of pre-cum and spit collecting around your mouth. You made sure the filthy mix was spread evenly around your mouth as you continued to take him down your throat.
Joel was panting and groaning as you continued sucking him off. Joel had always been the dominant one during your intimate moments, ordering you to do certain things, move certain ways, say certain things. It turned him on to see you so helpless underneath him, babbling incoherent things as he fucked you dumb.
But as you continued to suck him off, the pornographic sounds of your gagging, and how your nose touched the base of his cock, he realized that maybe he liked being under your control.
Fuck it.
He fucking loved it.
He let you take control as you slurped his dick perfectly. You wrapped your hand around his cock tightly and began to pump. Your mouth trailed down to his exposed balls that were filled with cum, waiting to be spurted out in thick ropes. Your mouth latched onto one of them, hollowing your cheeks as you had done with his cock. You sucked on it as Joel was turning into putty underneath you.
“Fuuuucck, baby. God, don’t stop. Please don’t stop—shit.” Joel threw his head back in pleasure, his hands gripping the leather couch.
“Baby, please. I need-I need you.”
Joel begged as he rose his head up to make eye contact with you. You simply shook your head, slipping him out of your mouth with a pop that made him whine.
“Nah. I’m testing something.” You repeated, taking him back into your mouth.
You bobbed your head up and down, gagging and gargling on him. You could hear his groans shift and his cock start to twitch feverishly in your mouth. These were the telltale signs that he was close, so you hollowed your cheeks, taking him in deeper.
“Just like that darlin’, please. I’m gonna cum—fuck yes.” Joel whimpered as your tongue swiveled around his tip every time your head bobbed up.
At last, he came, warm stripes of white bliss filling your mouth. You heard Joel let out a pathetic groan as he came, his breath faltering a bit. You licked your lips and swallowed, getting up from your spot between his legs. You pulled out your phone and pressed on the camera app, a reflection of yourself popping up on the screen. Your eyes widened and a smile showed on your face as you saw the gorgeous color you’d picked out still painting your lips. You grinned and sat down next to Joel, watching the remaining of your long forgotten show as if nothing had happened.
Joel was panting, his breath still irregular as his soft cock poked out of his jeans. He was in pure euphoria at the way you had just…used him. He let out a breathy laugh as he stuffed his length back into his jeans. Joel thought about a couple things.
One, he absolutely was going to have you take control more often.
Two, he had it bad for you. Worse than he thought.
Three, he was going to buy you every lipstick he saw from now on.

yellow roses ✿
summary: hanging out w/ them | platonic!
chars: diluc, yelan, dehya, venti, ayato, ganyu, kaveh, kazuha, xiao.
cw: alcohol in venti’s.
a/n: my entry for @i23kazu’s ambrosial event!
Tumblr media
diluc - flower picking
this guy definitely has a soft side for flowers. it isn’t uncommon he’d ask you to join him for a lazy stroll around dawn winery and the neighbouring mountains whenever he feels a bit overwhelmed. whether it’s an endless field or a singular flower, they’re all equally admired. he’d never pick the threatened species, but for the ones he does, they’re stored in pretty crystal vases scattered throughout the manor.
yelan - stargazing
yelan prefers the night over the exposure to the blinding sun. and the stars; they’re like a mix of both. dainty glimmers shining through the dark, poised and elegant, guides for those lost. and although she herself hardly loses her trail, admiring the treasures above is never unpleasant. and learning about them is something she finds quite intriguing: constellations, names, and ancient tales. don’t be surprised if she ever begins rambling about stars. she’d get you interested too.
dehya - shopping (specifically, cosmetics.)
if anyone had an impressive makeup collection, it would be dehya. if anyone could be extremely talented with it, it would be dehya. there’s simply nothing horrible about the beautiful arrays of color-coordinated selections displayed on the shelves of expensive department stores. when you both go shopping, she’s a big expert on the best products with the best values. she’s never starved of coupons and plenty of generous friends who treat you both to discounts.
venti - karaoke
when venti’s drunk, he can get a bit wild. firstly, he sings. which isn’t out of the ordinary, but the contrast with sober-venti singing and intoxicated-venti singing is distinguishable by a mile.
sober-venti singing:
lyrics make sense
sounds like a gift from celestia
he knows he’s singing.
intoxicated-venti singing:
tends to be on all fours, sprawled out or hanging off the chair.
doesn’t know he’s singing
doesn’t make sense in general
sometimes sounds like dvalin.
but he really is a great karaoke partner! big energy, good music, a very happy time!!
kamisato ayato - cooking
ayato views cooking as a pastime rather than a task, a hobby that one can enjoy with rewarding results. but perhaps that's because he’s never had to cook or learn, having a diligent housekeeper who already makes exquisite dishes and meals. so it’s a bit of a surprise (as well as a warning) that he wanted to cook as a way of spending time with you. it’s chaos guaranteed. you know for sure that no one's is going to be eating tonight.
that is, if the estate is still standing.
ganyu - watching the sunrise
the pale sunbeams emerge over the clouds high up on mt. aocang, peaceful and pristine. for ganyu, it's her getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. where the only intrusion from the silence is the occasional song of early-rising birds. the gentle breeze blows the crown of intertwined qingxin into your hands, an exchange you made with a crown of silk flowers that now delicately sits atop her head.
kazuha - watching the sunset
it’s a mystery how you and kazuha became friends. it just sort of happened. you remember distinctly, though, the first time you laid eyes on him on the decks of the Crux, where he was high above on the crows nest, silouette against the setting sun, he turned to you instantly. it made you wonder, how did he know someone was looking at him?
but those questions would soon be answered by the interesting figure himself. now, the sun no longer has one admirer, but two. each day without fail, no matter the weather or situation, the sunset would always be watched with soft smiles, laughter that could be heard from below, and conversations that lasted until the moonlight streaked across the seas.
xiao - trying festival foods.
it was you who pestered and bugged him continuously to attend the lantern rite’s festivities with the rest of liyue. to not just watch from a distance where none could see him, but to go down to the streets and see the colorful stalls and pop-up events. surprisingly, but also not surprisingly, it was he that asked you to visit a small booth that specialised in desserts like almond tofu. specifically almond tofu.
so now, you had an adeptus that was munching on tofu as you toured the streets. his eyes follow the line of food stands lining the street, and it’s so obvious he wants to try them. but will he admit it out loud? no.

Someone else can link the tumblr post/reddit link in the replies under this, I'm mostly here to elaborate on uh. How SSE Fucked Up This Time (possibly illegal version).
Disclaimer: Not an actual expert on this stuff, but i am an economics major. and i literally took a class on this sort of thing this semester.
What is SSE doing?
TLDR: as of roughly today (dec 21st 2023) but possibly earlier, you have a chance of, when trying to buy starrider, getting not just the "regular" discount packages that we know, where you pay once and get a bunch of seasonal goodies and the weekly sc, but also a "special" "Discounted" option where you get the goodies and starrider and *no weekly sc*. Meaning you will have to manually buy starcoins if you ever want any beyond the initial 2k or whatever.
Why is this possibly illegal?
I'm not diving too deep into A/B testing, because I know the least amount about it, but essentially it is literally up to chance which option you get, the regular set or the "cheap" option.
Combined with the fact that they sneakily removed the "receive a weekly starcoin allowance" from the starrider page from one day to another, and the fact that a slight graphical change (that being the +100sc not being in the image of the cheap option) are the only acknowledgements of this change, it basically sets them up for a lawsuit in any location they roll out these options.
Trade, market and consumer authorities (the FTC in the US, the European Commission in Europe, Konsumentverket in Sweden for example) have as one of their main and foremost goals the protection of consumers in the country where a product is sold. They're the reason why you can get your money back if you order something online and it doesn't arrive, or something distinctly different from what you ordered arrives instead. Rule number 1 for any company or seller is do not mislead your consumers.
Does removing the sc allowance directly break said rule? No. But doing so in a shady, hidden way that leads people to believe they should be receiving starcoins onto to be told by customer support to suck it up, they bought the wrong thing, and to do so unannounced and randomly throughout multiple regions, Definitely sets up a case against them.
It can absolutely be argued that after a decade of having a premium currency allowance as the Standard in their starrider subscriptions, to remove it unannounced and present it to customers as a regular discount is deliberately misleading consumers to buy a product that is not what they intended to buy. Both new customers and returning customers buying alternate accounts step into this process expecting to pay once for a starrider bundle that, given the ongoing seasonal festival, includes the seasonal cosmetic options, in addition to the "regular" premium currency allowance. This is especially more obvious once you realise that (presumably since implementing this system), you have to have created an account on their site and logged into it to even see which starrider bundles are available to you, which makes people unlikely to ever realise that the offers they are getting might be different from other people in their same region, with one version being significantly worse/different from what they might expect.
TLDR: it's really fucking shady of them to just Suddenly shove a bundle without the weekly allowance in people's faces when people are expecting to have them, especially because they're clearly trying to hide the fact that it's an option at all or different from the regular bundle.
What now?
If you or someone you know is getting this bundle or has bought it and felt surprised/betrayed by the fact that it lacks the allowance, take it to your local consumer protection authority (after you've contacted customer support). If you're uncertain what to tell them, try and add the following points:
You bought an online product to be used inside the game, which turned out to be something different from what you thought it was.
When you contacted customer support over this, they told you that the version you bought does not contain the allowance, but offer no way to correct this mistake. (Unless the customer support script ends up changing. In that case simply add what they did tell you.)
The discounted bundle did not clearly state that it lacks the allowance, nor is it distinctly different from other bundles, and is in fact the first option you were given.
To see what bundles are offered to you at all requires logging into an account on their website, making it difficult for you to compare offers to what other people might be getting, and making it unlikely for you to realise that you got something different from others at all until after you have bought it.
At worst, SSE will be reprimanded and made to add more clearly on their website what the bundle contains and what you're missing out on.
At best they actually go to court and go bankrupt over said costs and we'll finally be truly free

During the '80s, mannequins set the beauty trends—and real women were expected to follow. The dummies were "coming to life," while the ladies were breathing anesthesia and going under the knife. The beauty industry promoted a "return to femininity" as if it were a revival of natural womanhood—a flowering of all those innate female qualities supposedly suppressed in the feminist '70s. Yet the "feminine" traits the industry celebrated most were grossly unnatural—and achieved with increasingly harsh, unhealthy, and punitive measures.
The beauty industry, of course, has never been an advocate of feminist aspirations. This is not to say that its promoters have a conscious political program against women's rights, just a commercial mandate to improve on the bottom line. And the formula the industry has counted on for many years—aggravating women's low self-esteem and high anxiety about a "feminine" appearance—has always served them well. (American women, according to surveys by the Kinsey Institute, have more negative feelings about their bodies than women in any other culture studied.) The beauty makers' motives aren't particularly thought out or deep. Their overwrought and incessant instructions to women are more mindless than programmatic; their frenetic noise generators create more static than substance. But even so, in the '80s the beauty industry belonged to the cultural loop that produced backlash feedback. Inevitably, publicists for the beauty companies would pick up on the warning signals circulating about the toll of women's equality, too—and amplify them for their own purposes.
"Is your face paying the price of success?" worried a 1988 Nivea skin cream ad, in which a business-suited woman with a briefcase rushes a child to day care and catches a glimpse of her career-pitted skin in a store window. If only she were less successful, her visage would be more radiant. "The impact of work stress . . . can play havoc with your complexion," Mademoiselle warned; it can cause "a bad case of dandruff," "an eventual loss of hair" and, worst of all, weight gain. Most at risk, the magazine claimed, are "high-achieving women," whose comely appearance can be ravaged by "executive stress." In ad after ad, the beauty industry hammered home its version of the backlash thesis: women's professional progress had downgraded their looks; equality had created worry lines and cellulite. This message was barely updated from a century earlier, when the late Victorian beauty press had warned women that their quest for higher education and employment was causing "a general lapse of attractiveness" and "spoiling complexions."
The beauty merchants incited fear about the cost of women's occupational success largely because they feared, rightly, that that success had cost them—in profits. Since the rise of the women's movement in the '70s, cosmetics and fragrance companies had suffered a decade of flat-to-declining sales, hair-product merchandisers had fallen into a prolonged slump, and hairdressers had watched helplessly as masses of female customers who were opting for simple low-cost cuts defected to discount unisex salons. In 1981, Revlon's earnings fell for the first time since 1968; by the following year, the company's profits had plunged a record 40 percent. The industry aimed to restore its own economic health by persuading women that they were the ailing patients—and professionalism their ailment. Beauty became medicalized as its lab-coated army of promoters, and real doctors, prescribed physician-endorsed potions, injections for the skin, chemical "treatments" for the hair, plastic surgery for virtually every inch of the torso. (One doctor even promised to reduce women's height by sawing their leg bones.) Physicians and hospital administrators, struggling with their own financial difficulties, joined the industry in this campaign. Dermatologists faced with a shrinking teen market switched from treating adolescent pimples to "curing" adult female wrinkles. Gynecologists and obstetricians frustrated with a sluggish birthrate and skyrocketing malpractice premiums traded their forceps for liposuction scrapers. Hospitals facing revenue shortfalls opened cosmetic-surgery divisions and sponsored extreme and costly liquid-protein diet programs.
The beauty industry may seem the most superficial of the cultural institutions participating in the backlash, but its impact on women was, in many respects, the most intimately destructive—to both female bodies and minds. Following the orders of the '80s beauty doctors made many women literally ill. Antiwrinkle treatments exposed them to carcinogens. Acid face peels burned their skin. Silicone injections left painful deformities. "Cosmetic" liposuction caused severe complications, infections, and even death. Internalized, the decade's beauty dictates played a role in exacerbating an epidemic of eating disorders. And the beauty industry helped to deepen the psychic isolation that so many women felt in the '80s, by reinforcing the representation of women's problems as purely personal ills, unrelated to social pressures and curable only to the degree that the individual woman succeeded in fitting the universal standard—by physically changing herself.

Shower Thoughts
Abigail is a shower girl, singing her favorite punk rock songs slightly off key. Switches up her hair dye every other month. Otherwise, a pretty simple routine. Has mastered the perfect cat eyeliner and a little mascara.
Alex is a soak after a long, arduous workout, and drowns himself in Old Spice products. Uses an exotic scented shampoo - guava.
Elliott is a long bath kind of guy, complete with candles and rose petals, and a writing tray to capture his thoughts. Spends hours on his hair, nails, skin, etc. Immaculate self-grooming habits.
Emily has a whole wind down routine, complete with warm shower, meditation to find her Zen, and lofi sounds to lull her to sleep. Quick shower before work in the morning, fluff drys her hair. It's just that perky.
Harvey is particular about his grooming routine. Cleanliness is next to godliness. He's a shower-to-wake-up-in-the-morning kind-of guy and a shower-to-wind-down-at-night kind-of guy. Frequently shaves and grooms. Doesn't wear cologne so not to disturb his patients with allergies.
Haley spends hours in the bathroom, primping, curling, mani-pedi touch ups, fogging up the mirror with steamy hot showers. Heavy on the perfume. Light floral scents. Flawless makeup.
Sam is a quick cold shower in the morning kind-of dude. Whatever's on sale for cologne and deodorant. Showers daily and uses hair gel. Would totally play with Vincent's rubber ducky if he takes a bath.
Maru is a Navy shower kind-of gal. Freaky fast. She has better things to do with her time. Light sunscreen and a little lip gloss.
Sebastian takes longer than his sister. Rolls out of bed half awake and stands in the shower for a few minutes to be more alert. Thinks about weird stuff in the shower. Like the Reddit argument he had over how to pronounce GIF. The best ingredients for sushi. The weird dream he had last night about the Wizard, a clown, and a ghost dog walking into a bar...
Leah would skinny dip in the lake. Fresh water. Moonlight. Liberating. Not that she does it too often. Otherwise it's a short shower. Turns the shower off when soaping up to save water. Has the same hairstyle since middle school. Lip gloss, brush of dewy foundation, mascara, a little light earthy toned eyeshadow. There. Ready.
Shane avoids it as long as possible. Heavy heavy heavy on the Axe. Does the whole scruff thing. It works for him.
Claire falls asleep in the bath, with a glass of wine, reading a book. Wakes up in cold water realizing she needs to evaluate her life. Buys cheap cosmetics with her employee discount.
Victor is clean shaven... always. He's a normal shower guy, uses aftershave, a little citrus cologne. Sends out his dry cleaning.
Olivia is a luxurious bath lady. Loofah, bubbles, champagne, candles, facial, classical, sit back and soak... ahhhhh! Victoria's Secret perfume. Something strong and vanilla. She's got her makeup routine down pat. Red lipstick is her signature. Looks like a different person when she doesn't wear any makeup.
Penny is sad the plumbing doesn't work half the time in the trailer. She enjoys long soaks in the spa, sweating out her toxins, listening to nothing but the water when showering in the locker room. It's a nice change over her mom yelling at the game on TV.
Lance likes his spiked hair. Lots of mousse and gel to get it perfect. He's a shower-under waterfalls-bathe-in-the-ocean type of gent. Uses a sea salt scrub. Rugged deep woods scented cologne.
Magnus - why shower when you can just use a cleaning spell? Such a time saver! But if he must, he will set up his tub in the woods and soak under the stars.
Sophia - has a grape chapstick she loves, special orders her pink hair dye, washes her feet nightly, showers every other day, no look is complete without her cotton candy blush.

Functional Apparel Objects Apparel objects are debug items and show up as “clothing pile” in the catalog (Misc > Dressers). They must be placed on one of the DEBUG displays/shelves or they’ll float. Once purchased, take them out of the sim’s inventory and choose from one of the following: Purchase Clothing. Select an outfit (or several) of any type. Each apparel object is worth §100 towards the TOTAL cost. Sims save more money (and your businesses make more money) if they use one apparel object per new outfit. Sell. Recycle the object for §100 simoleons.  If you exit the Buy Clothing window without adding anything to your shopping cart, §100 will be added to the sim’s household funds instead. Apparel objects are worth §100 regardless of how much sims pay for them on OFB/community lots. Pricing an item below this amount can function like a discount sale (i.e., pay $75 in-store and §100 towards the purchase or a 25% “discount/rebate.” You can decide whether this counts as cheating). Pricing it above this amount is not recommended since sims will end up losing extra money. Debug objects have slots which “catch” fellow clones if you place them too close. To prevent this when trying to clutter them close together, turn “snap objects to grid” OFF and “move objects” OFF. Functional Cosmetic/Hygiene Products Items can be used from any surface or a sim’s inventory and will boost hygiene/comfort. After several uses (12 by default), the product will need to be replaced. When using cosmetics from a sim’s inventory, wait until the sims finishes using the first item BEFORE selecting the second one. Otherwise, the second object will be removed from the inventory. Both the object and plug-in files are needed for each item to work properly in-game. Number of uses and motive gain are tuneable in simPE (BCONS: 0x00 = number of uses, 0x002 = hygiene, 0x03 = comfort).

Identify what you need:
Tumblr media
Understand Your Beauty Regimen Needs: Take some time to determine what you require before sinking into the world of online cosmetic shopping. Are you in need of a new serum, or are you almost out of your favorite lipstick? Determining exactly what you need will keep you concentrated and prevent you from making pointless purchases, ultimately resulting in financial savings.
Do a personal assessment. Assess your skin type, hair type, and any specific concerns you might have (like acne, fizziness, or pigmentation) to better understand your needs. For accurate advice and to ensure you choose products that offer effective results without side effects, consider consulting with a dermatologist, especially if you’re dealing with sensitive skin or serious beauty concerns.
Create an Inventory List: Develop the habit of maintaining an inventory list of your current beauty products. This not only prevents you from buying duplicates but also helps you avoid purchasing multiple products for the same purpose. Utilize apps or simple spreadsheets to track the usage and expiration dates of products you already own. Alongside your inventory, keep a wishlist of items you want to explore. Prioritize this list based on your most-needed items and include products that come highly recommended or have top-rated reviews.
Conduct thorough research by reviewing customer ratings:
Tumblr media
After you have a clear idea of what you want, it's time to do a little homework online. Conduct Research the product and make sure it matches your concerns, skin type, and hair type. See online reviews to see if you are buying make-up and how it looks after application. Examine many online merchants to locate the greatest offers and compare prices. Keep an eye out for deals, discounts, and package deals that will enable you to spend less on cosmetics. Avoid impulsive buying.
Spend a little time reading feedback from others before making a purchase. This can help you prevent costly errors by providing insightful information on the efficacy and quality of a product. To be sure you're receiving the most value for your money, look for items with high ratings and reviews that are positive.

bought like actual skincare products for the first time in years and have some notes.
the whole anti-aging cosmetic industry is really hard to avoid. i was getting stuff at a marshall’s (discount store, carries a lot of overstock from brands) to save money and it took me almost an hour to find a handful of products that weren’t advertising “anti-aging” and “youthfulness” when i just wanted a cleanser, toner, and sunscreen to help with both peeling skin and greasiness
no seriously. i found ONE facial sunscreen that didn’t have retinol or hyaluronic acid or collagen or any of that stuff in it. it was tucked away in the men’s section with beard oil and cologne because apparently facial sunscreen with no added bullshit is only for men, and women (this is borderline a fast fashion store it’s highly gendered) can only protect themselves from skin cancer if it also makes sure they never develop a smile line
so many of those serums and creams and shit are bullshit anyway. hell a lot of people can just do a wash and sunscreen and be all set. at most a basic cleanser, basic moisturizer, and sunscreen are the absolute most you need. i threw in an exfoliating toner to help even out a couple gnarly acne scars and help with how flaky my skin gets sometimes. if your skin needs more than that, you really should probably just go to a dermatologist or look for actual dermatologist’s advice instead of dumping a bunch of random oils and serums and creams n shit you saw on tiktok or instagram on your skin and hoping the benefits listed on the box will be true for you
IN MOST CASES no amount of skincare products can make up for lifestyle change. i decided to put a little more work in because the lifestyle changes i need to make to help be less oily (i literally get so greasy it makes my eyes burn) and flaky aren’t currently feasible, so i’m trying to give my skin a bit of a boost, but literally the best my skin has ever felt was when i was just drinking a shit ton of water and eating super well
other people’s skincare will rarely work the same on anyone else. everyone’s skin needs are different. when i was in high school i had a gnarly abrasion/chemical burn under my eye because i had tried a routine i saw online that was way too rough and overbearing for me. again, you 100% don’t need a 30 step routine
that being said, i used a $4 korean cleanser, a $6 glycolic acid toner (exfoliant), 100% pure african shea butter, and some sunscreen formulated for use on the face. my skin feels great. my acne doesn’t itch as much. the toner was the most expensive part. the beauty industry is a scam
