About Spectra🕷

The "good" doctor has always been trapping people in her webs. As a well skilled psychologist she used her know how of people to get what she wanted, especially through her clients. Wether it's persuading extra pay offers, sharing confidential info, she'd do anything for the right price. Eventually though the consequences of her less ethical practices catched up to her and bit her hard, literally! Now she continues to haunt the world, trying to trap people in her webs, this time they’re even harder to get out of!”.

Character:

For her I'm getting rid of the search for beauty and focusing on her being a person who takes advantage of others for her self gain. I'm thinking of making her dark neutral. She mostly does what she does for her self gain and won't go to more trouble than she has to, for what she wants and willing to work with anyone, for the right price. On the other hand her utter lack of care for the people around her as well as her willingness to abuse her power usually makes her an enemy. She also takes joy in causing the misfortune and doesn’t show much concern or remorse for it, especially if its someone she hates.

I also want to push the parallel between her and Jazz more,both being people I with skills and interest in psychology. She could be what Jazz became if she jsut stopped caring about helping people with their issues and used them to only benefit herself. I’m thinking form a young age, Spectra was aware of humanity not being naturally good and saw that more and more as she grew. Eventually she adapted a ““let them be evil” mindset and worked to be just as, if not more cunning and underhanded than the people around her.

Spectra-You can etheir be their prey or they can be yours.

Im thinking for her ep, Jazz at first likes and really looks up to her especially for her profession(fun fact, OG Jazz in one of her futures goes to Yale, which I’m headcanon Spectra graduated from) Perhaps feels like she’s able to confide to her, always trying to look out for everyone else especially her brother, it’s nice to have someone care about her business, perhaps even encouraged Jazz to care for herself more. She’s definetley much more hurt to say the least when she realizes Spectra’s true colors. I can honestly see Spectra see a bit of herself in Jazz, even has some respect for Jazz’s ability to connect with others, with that said she wouldn’t hesitate to use Jazz as Phantom bait if it benefits her or she proved to be too much of an inconvenience. Which….

She and Jazz, have a sort of similar parallel to Vlad and Danny, if perhaps not as intense.

Abilities- Can make webs that can drain someone's energy as well as trap and grab things and people, even make things out of said webbing and people, can crawl and climb all over walls and ceilings, can shoot out her webbing Spider-Man style, can remove her body parts and attach them back on(like sewing a doll), can fit herself into small spaces, high jumper, very flexible, sharp claws, legs and teeth, venomous bite, experience and skill in Psychology, dark empath, master manipulator, great vision(especially since she can move her eyes around), a sense of danger(like a spidey sense Spectra-NOT LIKE SPIDER-MAN!), good with the piano, experienced in forgery, knows ASL(picked it up for clients with hearing disabilities), great charisma, greater lying and great with textile.

@tachvintlogic​ helped gave me a lot of good ideas on how her web powers can work! 

Weaknesses- Webs can only last so long before she needs to remake them, weak ghost so she cant use too much and will etheir need new people to drain energy from or wait and conserve herself, she or her webs aren’t great getting wet, not strong in cold temperatures, strength if webs depend on her own state, hence why she drains people so much, not the greatest with modern tech, hard to trust even when she’s telling the truth, has little to no compassion, huge ego and too selfish for her own good.

If a person is physically or mentally down already, her webs can drain more out.

Likes- Psychology(more so using it on people), draining people, negative emotions and energy, DRAMA, textile, weaving, sewing, knitting, macrame, textile especially weave art, textile puns, dark comedy, fine arts, acting fine and cultured, getting spa treatments, vintage things, silk, red wine, insects and spiders(to eat), brunch, French cuisine, devilled eggs, coffee, dark chocolate, bitter tastes, cappuccino, brunch, fashion, gossip, piano music, the night, the color red, reading, philosophy, psychological horror/thrillers, dark spaces, interior design shows, reality tv shows(especially for the drama), and getting what she wants.

Dislikes- Jazz, Danny Phantom, Sidney( on the plus side, he’s got tons of negativity she can drain from him, on the downside it’s hard to when he can slice you to threads with his pincers in a matter of seconds), Danny’s puns, Walker and his enforcement, a lot of the ghosts in the Zone(they def reciprocate her feelings), people getting in her way, having to deal with teenagers, getting poked by needle and pins, Bertrand's snark and sass, being weak, the color blue, Jazz’s essential oils(fun fact spiders don’t like smells like lavender, peppermint or the color blue, especially light blue which Jazz wears a lot), bright lights, being called "Other Mother", being called “old”, not having her coffee, when the coffee shops get her order wrong or puts the wrong name on the cup, rain, her work getting ruined, getting wet, the cold, missing threads, loose ends, people commenting on her age and being screwed over.

Fav food- Misery ofcourse😭

Second fav- Spiders. They help her gain energy is spiders and the webbing in them🕷She'll go for insects as well🦋🐞🪲(Likes dipping such as dark chocolate or cheese covered ones like cocoa beetles).

Loves to target teens for all their hormones as well as middle-age adults. Mid-Life crisis’ are gold mines for her.

Will now and then team up with Vlad🧛‍♂️ Especially if it involves revenge on the Fenton Family. He’s one of the few ghosts she actually gets along with. With that said, they wouldn’t hesitate to turn on each other when push comes to shove. I can totally see them brunch while badmouthing people(especially the Fentons). 

Can make silk from her webbing. It’s very soft and smooth…perfect to get it on people😈

Enjoys making dolls of people she hates so she can destroy them for stress relief.

Usually smells like vintage perfume. It’s not bad but she tends to wear a lot on her, usually trying to cover up anything like say…ecto.

Though she hates the cold, has her office still cold as it makes clients accept her gifts more or warm up with stuff she made. As well as to cover up Phantom’s Ghost senses. She uses her own webbing to keep herself warm enough.

When under Walker's control, kept far away from the other prisoners so she can't feed too much on their misery. He has her do psycho-analysis of the inmates, to figure out what makes them tick. One of her biggest cases is Sidney Pointdexter. Her cell tends to have a bunch of cobwebs in it, her bed having layers and crafted pillows from her own webbing for comfort.

Made Bertrand with her powers. Reference to Other Father. The main reason he does her bidding’s because he needs her webbing to keep him together. She made him basically to do all the grunt work, she doesn’t want to waste energy on(cleaning her office, organizing her files, coffee runs, scaring the students so they’ll need to get counselled and can drain them, etc).

Also tends to have Bertrand prepare snacks and drinks for the students, to make them feel more comfortable( and TOTALLY not to make sure one doesnt end up passing out if too much energy was drained). A bit of a reference to how Other Mother lured Coraline with delicious food.

Died in 1990. Gaiman started writing the story, Coraline(Spectras inspired by Other Mother) in 1990. Died via, Black widow spider bite🕷

Got her degrees from Yale👩‍🎓 She brags about that ALOT to people. Blackmailed her psych professor.

When she isn’t draining people of their misery, will now and then swindle  people for quick crash. Her fav tactic is selling people knockoff fashion products, which after the purchase don’t even last(as she made them with her webbing). 

Prefers cash over credit💵.

Sometimes makes fake products or steals things like Chanel and Gucci for herself, to make people think she’s rich and classy👜

She and Klemper knew each other as kids🕷☃️.

Her footsteps and fingers hitting the surface sounds like needles🪡

Has definetley been involved in quite a few pyramid schemes.

Would love Melvina’s Therapy.

Keeps a sewing kit on her🧵🪡

Likes to hum. Usually "the itsy bitsy spider"🕷

Loved puppet shows as a kid. Still enjoys them now. 

She made a lot of the clothes she wears. Even made Bertrand a sleeveless vest, def not to drain him ofcourse...

Can move her extra eyes around her face. Likes to do it to creep people out.

How she died. Still working out the details but it was partly because of a black widow spider bite, was an act of revenge(client or someone close to the client she’d been screwing over) and  it wasn’t a peaceful death to say the least.

But why is it soooo bad that dan wanted to try to do some solo work and try somthing new? Like i get it...he just came out and he felt like he needed to redefine himself and his careere. I love the gaming channel and im so glad it's back. But i understand why dan felt like he needed to step away from it and try something new. from what he said to us so fer, it seems like everything before coming out was defind by being in the closet, so it makes sense that after that he needed some time to figure things out

i didn't say that him trying something new was bad. it was an experience, and i'm glad he and we had it. wad, for example, was so much fun even during fuck ups. we had a chance to meet each other and discuss things. and did we have a lot to discuss! :) also, for me personally it was much easier to actually talk to people here and irl now than in 2018. and it was one of my favourite things about Dan's tour.

all i'm saying is that 2019 – pre-tour 2022 could have been handled better. even stepping away from dnp brand could have been done smoother and with a less final vibe. that's it.

OH MY GOD DONT GET ME STARTED ON PHIL FLOATING FREELY IN DAN'S MIND AND THE WHOLE MOON THING ILL GO INSANE

ok so first of all listen to an hour long album JKJK but also its important context so, there are two twin fantasy albums one is called mirror to mirror (released in 2011) and the other is face to face (2018) and its basically about a really close and intimate but ultimately failed relationship and the first version was written when that relationship had just happened and then the 2018 version was a rerecording and re-mastering, but also a reflection about how the artist felt including rewriting some lyrics so they better reflect how he feels today rather than keeping those past emotions alive

and so dnp are mirrors of each other in a lot of superficial ways, ones left handed the others right handed, one has his hair parted to the left the other to the right, one has a dark aesthetic the other has a bright aesthetic, and obviously thats something that appeals to a lot of people in fic as well as just their on stage and on camera dynamic, like they ham up those differences in like a comedy duo aspect of one being the "straight man" (haha jokes but also usually dan plays that role) and the other being the silly 😝 (usually phil, but there are blessed times where they switch those roles too)

and then theres the reality of their relationship, the fact that they are so similar to each other and were able to click with each other so immediately and so closely like as soon as dan started being on youtube in those early phil vlogs phil was just mentioning him in every other video and incredibly casually not as "danisnotonfire" but as dan. they also balance out each others differences like they ease each others anxieties and rely on each other in a very real way

so the mirror breaking for them is being able to see their relationship not as a dynamic that fandom has built up around them or as opposing each other but instead as a strong unified one that holds each other together where theyre not the same person but they can still be connected and they can also still hold the memories of when they were connected in a different way (which is also why i think theyve always been keen on having recorded versions of their live experiences so that we can hold onto those separate versions too)

it truly astounds me who people choose to blame for homophobia. like dan had to go through a lot of shit online and i can’t speak for his experience before youtube but when he started doing liveshows, his biggest problems in the chat weren’t his teen girl fans, it was the people who’d hurl slurs and insults in the chat to be edgy. those who left comments abt his voice and body and were you know, homophobic. im not saying that his fanbase didn’t go too far at points (especially the ones who posted photos/ details of his family) but to act as though the the fans who’ve been supporting him and his work for years, those who found solace in dnp and the fandom are the actual villians is just wrong. like if you’re going to have the conversation about dan and the internet and homophobia you better talk about this quote too. no community is perfect but the narrative that the teens watching dnp were somehow more responsible for homophobia than the actual trolls and homophobes is uhhh wild

" Jazz is seen as a flower full of sunshine, always wanting to help(even if it wasn't asked) and loves being involved, especially in her baby bro's life. Personality:

Tbh I love Jazz's personality so much already. Her positivity, wanting to look mature, her protective caring nature, wanting to be involved. I wanna keep that.

Ngl she was giving me Hazbin Hotel Charlie vibes, when I was designing her. I see her be not just be involved in Danny's life but always wanting to help, even if it might not have been asked. She sees the world through rose colored glasses and feels even the darkest of hearts can be brightened if they had some care.

I wanna keep her OG quirks, her being meddling, trying too much to be mature, overprotective. I also want her to be the type who can be too much give, being a bit(ALOT) of a people pleaser, tending to overextended herself and her kind nature and love to help being taken advantage of. She's always wanting to make everyone happy, even at her own cost.

Something I REALLY want for her is to use her knowledge and skill in psychology to help the ghosts with all their baggage and troubles. It would defiebtley make Danny's job easier and can make the ghost a friendlier place. I really want her to become a therapist for humans and ghosts.

Abilities- Knowledge and skill in psychology, sunny attitude and perspective, rational, cautious, very caring, compassionate, responsible, knows ALOT of inspirational quotes, the type who would survive a horror film by just not making stupid decisions, has a drivers license, can cook, knows how to play the clarinet and saxophone, athletic, has first aid and CPR training, team player, knows self defense(Danny too, their parents probably would want to make sure they can fight for themselves, got the idea from @tachvintlogic ), good with a camera, also inspired from @tachvintlogic who sees Jazz have an interest in photography and would do anything for the people she cares about!

Weaknesses- Tends to be meddling, overprotective, too trusting and nice, has had her kindness taken advantage of, not too hard to manipulate, has trouble loosening up, can be pushy, has trouble when not in control of situations, trouble relating to her fellow adolescent peers, push herself too hard, tends to overextend herself, too much of a giver, putting herself sometimes into some trouble and has trouble knowing when she needs to ask or accept help.

Drinks ALOT of tea. Her fav is jasmine tea with lemon and honey🌼🍋🍯

Closer with my Sam and Tucker. She and Tucker know eachother more since he and Danny were childhood besties. Would totally survive a horror movie story together. And as different as she and Sam are, she's happy Danny has another friend who has really helped him out of his shell and introduced a new world for him. I also see them bond for their love of nature, helping others, art and self-expression not to mention teach each other some important things. Sam to help Jazz enjoy being a kid and Jazz help Sam plan and think things through better. I also see them rock out to Death Metal and rock together🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Tends to make a personal psychoanalysis on the people around her, including her family.

Similar to OG Jazz's Bearbert Einstein bear, my Jazz has one based on Erik Erikson(8 stages of psychosocial development), Bearick Bearickson. Also has another based on his wife Joan Erickson who was a huge contribution for the stages, even making a 9th stage about experience new challenges with continued aging and incorporates all the previous 8 stages🐻🧸 They help her with stress and moral support. She named a lot of her stuffies based on psychologists and philosophers.

I struggled with writing this fic a lot, it took me absolutely ages. I think it was mostly because I’m not naturally a visual thinker so writing a fic all about portrait painting was quite a challenge! But I’m really glad I was able to push through the endless rewrites and end up with something that I’m actually pretty proud of!

This is the “I love you so much that I don’t care if we never have sex” fic that I think all ace writers probably write at some point :) I’ve actually written two fics along these lines, and to be honest, I’m surprised there haven’t been more....yet!

When stories go wrong

My last rec isn’t actually a fic, it’s a piece of phandom/phanfic analysis I did on an old sideblog. It’s my thoughts on the possibility that some of the upset and frustration we see directed at dnp for stepping back and stopping regular joint content is similar to fan reactions to other content where our expectations have not been met, like the end of Game of Thrones or Sherlock season 4

Dan and Phil have never been the type to actually speak on stuff more than once and it fucking sucks.

Anytime something awful or evil happens in the world, Dan will tweet about it once maybe twice and then never speak on it again. Phil will never speak on it, only retweet Dan. And there’s proof of it. Look back on any catastrophic worldwide event, they only talk about it happening a few times and then back to lala land. It’s super irritating. I’d love my faves to do better but what’s doing better when they never did better to begin with?! The only time they actually raised money for charity after a tragic event was when the whole thing in Manchester happened in 2017. Please correct me if I am wrong tho! I’d love to be proven wrong with this!

So I don’t expect them to speak out about free Palestine anytime soon. Also fuck their management for letting them even agree to an audible sponsor at a time like this. It’s not just on d&p for that. It’s def the management getting these sponsors in for them too.

Tl dr, your faves are problematic and I’m just so annoyed. Love, a strong phannie who’s been here for 10 years and has noticed a pattern with their bull shit.

and oh, god. fuck their managers. it's 100% them finding sponsorships and negotiating terms. like, dnp could say no, obviously, and not doing it is on them. but whose brilliant idea was to suggest Amazon in the 1st place? hey, dnp, can i speak to your manager? i was so sure Dan would never say yes to companies like Amazon. and now i'm like, what's next? who bought the rights to wad? i'm genuinely scared.
