Creator Spotlight: GDBee Art (@prinnay)
Geneva Bowers is inspired by the wonders of the natural world around us, and enjoys manipulating colors to create art full of mood and feelings.
Check out our interview with Geneva below!
How did you get started with art? Did you originally have a background in art?
I’m going to say yes because that’s all I’ve known how to do. It started because I wanted to draw better horses than my sister, and it just spiraled from there. People started asking me to draw things because they saw me drawing horses. I was like, well, I can draw things that aren’t horses, and then it was just kind of all I did.
Have you ever had an art block? If so, how did you overcome it?
I have one right now! Honestly, with time, and I also collect art books; I think I have a couple hundred. If I really want to draw something, then I just flip through those and try to steal some ideas.
Which three famous artists (dead or alive) would you invite to your dinner party?
I mean, of course Van Gogh…I’m really inspired by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, so I would invite Van Gogh, Monet, and Julie Dillon to a dinner party.
Have you ever wanted to dive into another medium before?
Yeah, actually, I currently am! I’m trying to do more traditional painting. I used to do a lot of acrylics, but I haven’t done it in years, and now I’m kind of bad at it. I’m trying to get into actual impressionistic art with oils and oil pastels. I’m like failing, but you know, you get there. Just fail until it looks presentable.
If there is one thing you want your audience to remember about your work, what would it be?
I guess it’s more of a feeling. I create art because I’m inspired by things around me, like certain video games. For example, I have been inspired by a Japanese RPG called Chrono Cross on PlayStation 1. They make me feel a certain type of inspiration to create something, so that’s kind of like what I’m hoping to leave behind.
Have any of your projects surprised you with their outcome?
Yeah! I did this Weapon Faerie series where I took three prompts: a weapon, a winged insect, and an herb, which I combined to make different characters. So, a faerie with a spiked club or a butterfly faerie with a katana. I made 13 of those, and they kind of took off! I wasn’t expecting that at all.
What is the hardest part of your process?
My whole art style is coloring, like the way it’s colored… but I hate the coloring process, haha. I like doing the color combos, but I don’t like the blending and shading. That takes like one-trillion years. It’s the part where I’m most likely to give up. You know how art kind of looks ugly before it looks good? I’m trying to trust that process.
What do you wish you knew when you started creating art that you know now?
I guess one big thing would be knowing how to use lights and darks. When I do color, it is definitely colorful, but when you switch it to black and white, you see that everything’s the same tone of gray. I’ve learned that if you just use some brighter colors and some darker shades, you create a bigger impact in the end. So, now, when I paint something digital, I make it black and white for a moment to see where all the hues are, and if something is weirdly dark or not dark enough, I can change it.
Who on Tumblr inspires you and why?
Oh, @feefal definitely inspires me. She does a lot of spooky art.

Better Than Him
Can you really blame Kaeya for indulging in the pleasure you give him when his husband fails to do so himself?

Kaeya has a husband. Someone he loves dearly, someone he's promised his life to, someone who he wakes up to every morning.
Except this morning, he's waking up to you. You're not his husband, you're his coworker. Kaeya knows he should feel guilty but all he can think about is how good it felt that night, how warm your hands felt around his body, how roughly you treated him, and how his scalp still aches from how hard you were pulling his hair.
It started with an announcement with your, acting, boss.
"You two are going overseas." Jean says. "To Inazuma, your task is to get the Tri-Commissions under the Shogunate to become friends to the Knights of Favonius."
"I understand [Name] going, but why me?" Kaeya asks. "Not that I'm complaining. I've always wanted to visit Inazuma."
You had been sent to meet with Ningguang a few months ago, just to discuss business, and ended up with her company supporting yours. You'd become friends with her and her workers along with a lot of others from Liyue. So it makes sense for you to try and establish relationships in Inazuma as well.
"Lisa picked you, I don't remember the reason." Jean replies.
Kaeya shrugs. "Okay, when are we leaving?"
"This Friday."
Tumblr media
Kaeya had left Mondstadt secure in his love for his husband, he had no idea that would change.
Everything was normal up until the second to last night, when you had dinner with him.
"Inazuma alcohol is so different from Mondstadt alcohol.." Kaeya murmurs, feeling himself get drunk faster than normal.
"Do you want my water?" You ask.
"Will you help me to my room?"
"Yeah, of course." You nod.
"Then no." He giggles. "I'm gonna get hammered tonight."
You laugh and shake your head. "You'll hate yourself for this in the morning."
Kaeya's head rests on the table, drunken murmurs leaving his lips. You manage to get him to drink a little bit more water before you help him up.
You try to help him walk by making him lean on you, but he just makes it more difficult for you to walk. You sigh and pick him up bridal style.
Kaeya blushes. "You're strong~" He purrs.
You don't respond. You're glad Kaeya gave you his keycard earlier or else you would've had to have gone the much more difficult route of searching his pockets.
You enter the room, door closing behind you on its own, and place him onto his hotel bed.
Kaeya tugs on your shirt and stops you from leaving. "Wait.."
You gulp. "What?"
"Don't leave me." He frowns. "I can't sleep in these." He says, making a sloppy attempt and mostly failing to unbutton his shirt.
You sigh and help him out of his shirt, then his pants. Your eyes linger on his nearly naked body, just a pair of soft blue panties stopping you from seeing him in his full glory, and start to disregard everything that held you back from fucking him.
"Thank youu~" He smiles, going underneath the covers.
"You're a tease." You pull the covers away. "A real fucking tease." You pull your shirt over your head.
Kaeya's eyes widen. "Wh- wha..?"
"Don't act clueless." You discard your pants and then your boxers. "You put your body out on display for me and you expect me to not want to take you?"
Kaeya stays frozen as you loom over him and take his underwear off.
"Send my apologies to your husband, I'm about to ruin you for him." You rub his clit.
Kaeya moans, squirming around and trying to run from the pleasure. "Don't- please- ah~" He leans his head back. "Oh~ stop~"
"Yeah, moan for me, baby. Show Daddy how good you feel." You stuff two digits inside his cunt, your palm brushing against his clit.
"No~ no~ not there~!" Kaeya gasps when you hit his g-spot, hips involuntarily bucking up for more. "Please~!"
His pleas mean nothing when he's moaning like this. He keeps begging for you to stop up until he squirts, crying out in pleasure as he has the strongest orgasm he's ever had since college.
"Look at yourself, squirting just from my hand and yet you're still telling me to stop."
Kaeya's legs and lips tremble, tears falling down his cheeks. "No more, please, I won't- I won't tell—"
"You're so pretty when you cry and beg like that for me." You spit on his cunt, slapping it and making him jolt in shock. Kaeya's crying turns into sobs, not for your pleasure of course. He never thought you would be like this.
"Just like that, baby, such a good boy." You groan and slide into him, grinning at how he feels. "You're tight. Does he even fuck you anymore? Or at all?"
Kaeya doesn't respond, but you both know you're right. His husband never has time for intimacy anymore. Kaeya masturbates every now and then but none of those "self care sessions" prepared him for the huge stretch of your cock. He twitches around you, his brain almost short circuiting just from being filled so well. His husband doesn't compare to you at all.
"If it were me, I'd make sure you felt good every day." You slowly thrust into him.
"Nnh- no- I love my hus- husband.."
"If you loved your husband, you wouldn't have made me strip you. You wouldn't have invited me to sleep with you, but you did."
"No! That's n—" Kaeya gets interrupted by a harsh slap.
"You've been lying all night, I don't know if I can believe anything you say anymore."
Kaeya whimpers and rubs his cheek in pain, his cunt squeezing you.
"You liked that, didn't you?" You smirk. "You little pain slut." You slap him again, a sharp moan leaving his lips. You turn him around, rubbing his plump ass.
"No- no- I don't— ah~!" He gasps as you spank him.
"You're bad at lying, Kaeya." You laugh, picking up the pace and fucking him harder.
"'M nngh- not ly- lying~!"
He enjoys this, he has to admit it, but he wants it to stop more than he enjoys it. At least in his opinion.
"You are." You spank his ass again, your other hand wrapping around his hair and pulling on it fiercely.
Kaeya continues sobbing whilst moaning in pleasure, barely able to think now. "Uh~! Uh~!"
"There you go, that's a good little whore." You spank him again, his walls convulsing around your length as he comes a second time.
Kaeya's eyes roll back as you keep fucking him until he's brainless. "Ooh~! Yes~!"
You smirk, he's broken now. "You're mine now, got it?"
"Yes- yes~! 'M yo- yours Da- Daddy~!" He moans. "'M your cocksleeve~!" He adds, indulging in one of his fantasies.
You groan in pleasure. "That's right, you're my pretty little cocksleeve." You reward him with a spank. "Take your ring off."
Kaeya looks at his fingers hazily, looking for his ring. He briefly wonders why it's there, not remembering that he's married, before pulling it off and tossing it elsewhere.
"Gonna come-" You let go of his hair and dig your nails into his sides as you chase your orgasm. Kaeya manages to moan even louder, coming seconds before you do. His upper half collapses onto the bed as you fill him with your warm, thick cum.
You pull him up by his hair. "You thought we were done?"

I didn't mean to break their hearts, I was just curious, srry!😭😭 (but Itachi's one was kinda funny-)
But anyway, now I'm wondering about how they would react if they found out that you can draw really cool and beautiful.
(I'm an artist, so😎)
Nonny 🥹🥹
That put me in an really good mood; lol. That was way too fun to write; maybe I can one day write a super angsty break up (but I love them too much!!!).
I love all artists 😭😭😭 Painters, writers — digital or paper. Anything that expresses the inner workings of someone’s mind and the fact that they can manifest it to reality is so so so beautiful. I hope I’ve secretly seen your art, I’d probably simp over it. Always simp over art. 😂😂🥹🥹
N/SFW; very cute Uchiha men adoring your artwork! 🥹🥹🥹 (ooc Madara??); Simpy Obito; …Scandalous Shisui; abnormally observant Itachi 😂 suggestive themes rolled out the further I got. For some reason, I just had to. (P.s. I should not be allowed to write when tired??? Half of this was done while my eyes rolled shut in bed).
Madara:
It’s not everyday that Madara is blown like a leaf in the wind. When you mentioned being a patron of the arts, he thought maybe the art of battle?? Didn’t expect your weapon to be a paint brush with some acrylic paint. Thought it was some weird jutsu infused shit.
And then you just had to go above and beyond and do a portrait of him for his birthday!!!!! It’s hung on the living room center wall so that it’s the first thing anyone sees! Honestly, this man is a brute, but your art envokes his softer side! A side that he hasn’t been in touch with for…well, a long time.
Makes sure that everyone and I mean, everyone, is aware of your talent! Still, he tries to find the side hussle in it, soliciting customers for you and all. 😭😭 Will trash talk the chalk art children make on the sidewalk, which ‘…that’s not nice, they’re children..’ you say. He shrugs, nobody is as good as you.
Obito:
Finds out and tries to ‘secretly’ commission you lmao. Makes it totally obvious too, his handwriting is shit and eveeeerrryyyyone knows who Tobi really is…. Plus how can you even begin without discussing what he wants done!! Duh, Obito! Unfortunately for him, you are more interested in drawing matters of the flesh. He’ll only show his chest, nothing more.
‘That’s fine.’ You shrug, and get to work. Obito, however, does not have the resolve to sit still! It’s frustrating to no end, but alas, after what seems an eternity— its done. Sort of. Still much to add, but the basics are there and you’ll work better when he’s not asking how does it look every twenty minutes.
Eventually you do finish this beautiful piece of him, and Obito cries. You made his scars tolerable and beautiful with your mind’s creativity, he feels less self conscious about them, only a little.
Shisui:
Is the least normal about it when he discovered your sketchbook — more like snatched and played keep away. Had to fight him for it, literally. Will ask you to paint/draw him naked…many times lol and you respectfully say no... Not that he likes people to see him naked (ok maybe a little?) but he secretly hopes it might happen one day. It would be a private thing for the two of you, cause he wants that ass.
And when you do cave to his whim, just to satiate him. He’s nervous lmao. Had this oh so macho man idea of rocking a hard on but Shisui simply maintains his usual semi. It’s nice though, you make sure it’s extremely detailed..as he asked for.
But, ‘(y/n)… this is chibbi!!!’ Lol, jokes on Shisui!! He didn’t say how to draw his pp.
Itachi:
Is the most normal about it. Though he still will praise you every time you finish a piece and show him, he is still massively impressed. How does your wrist not get tired? …maybe this is why your hand jobs are so good. 😈 Just watching you try a new technique (pointillism, which is my favorite style) makes his wrist hurt. Enjoys when you ask him for ideas! He has lots of them! Mostly…obscure and derelict landscapes though.
Would not be opposed to having his portrait done, but it’s really not his style. He is disciplined enough to sit still but doesn’t see the value in it. Not until the final product is revealed, does he truly understand how important this piece was. You’ve captured his personality in a new light.

Be a good boy for master, okay?
Sub Aether x male reader
Help theres no yellow colour for text?? Anyways heres a thing I’ve been working on forever because I got halfway through and just ran out of inspiration-
Warnings: name calling (ex: slut, pretty boy) , exhibitionism, rope/bondage, use of master, overstimulation, dacryphilia, hair pulling
Word count: 920
Tumblr media
Aether sat prettily in a chair that his hands were tied to with ribbons. He didn’t say anything, just sat and whined loudly about letting his hands loose so he could touch himself as he watched you stand before him in lingerie. You shushed him with your finger before taking a few steps back and moving the lingerie panties to the side and grabbing your dick.
“Don’t you wanna see master touch himself in front of you, pretty boy?” You smirked as you started stroking your cock slowly.
“No! I wanna be the only thing that makes you feel good, master!” Aether cried as he tried to fight against the ribbon that was keeping him in the chair.
“Uh-uh, pretty boy! That's so mean! Do you not wanna see me stroke my big cock into your face? Or is it more so because my fat cock isn’t blowing your brains out that makes you upset?” You said with a low groan. Your hand sped up as you jerked yourself off right in front of Aether. He was whining again about how hard his dick was and how he wanted you inside him but you ignored him. You moaned at the sensation of your own palm rubbing against your tip and you even started pinching and twisting your nipples through the lace with your space hand to sweeten the show.
“Please!! I can’t take it anymore, master!!” Aether was getting louder now; louder and less embarrassed.
“Mmm, want your cock inside, nghh,” he kept whining and moaning so sweetly. Every one of his delicious moans fueled you more.
“What's the magic word, pretty boy?” You asked him through your own moans.
“Please…please put your dick inside me!!” Aether begged. You could see his tip was red and leaking. It just looked so delicious, and his lap looked oh so comfy.
“Lemme do you one better, darling. Master’s gonna come over and sit on your cock mkay?” You said with a smirk as you stopped stroking your dick and walked over to the chair your lover was tied to.
“Mm-hmm!! Yes please, master,” Aether said shyly as he looked down to the side. Anywhere but at your lace adorned figure. Before you did anything though you knelt down and positioned yourself doggy style before Aether. He looked shocked for a moment before realising that you were going to stretch your hole before taking him.
“May as well give you a show to go with it, yea?” You said. Aether didn’t say anything in response, he was too busy observing the way your two fingers pumped inside and out of your ass like it was nothing. You scissored yourself and pushed your digits inside and out of your own ass.
When you felt as though you were stretched enough you got up again and began making your way to Aether again. You figured you didn't need any lube or even spit on Aethers cock as there was so much precum rolling down it that you’d be ok. You carefully climbed atop Aether before lowering yourself onto his red and throbbing cock. You moaned in pure ecstasy as you felt him stretch your insides. Aether though, moaned even louder.
“Feels good~ your ass feels so good, master,” Aether panted.
“Shit-” you started bouncing up and down on his cock, his size stretching your insides. You slowly began to bounce yourself up and down on his cock, making yourself feel good at Aethers expense.
He was a beautiful mess tied to the chair beneath you. Moaning and wincing uncontrollably.
“What a pretty angel you are for me, dear” you said, strain evident in your voice as you try not to moan. He was mounding your ass so perfectly it was too good. You stared at Aether intently, low groans escaping you occasionally. The slick sounds coming from below were fuling the intense feeling building in your stomach. You tensed as you felt Aether bite into your shoulder. Not even a few moments later you felt Aether cum inside you. You grabbed a fist full of his hair and tugged him off your shoulder. Staring him in the eyes you stopped moving, much to your dismay.
“What do you do before you cum, Aether?” You questioned him roughly, clearly upset with his disobedience. He tried to turn his head away but your grip on his hair was too strong. His eyes teared up as sorrys started pouring from his lips.
“Answer me, slut.” You demanded. Slowly raising yourself off his cock, as if to signal that if he didn’t respond you’d leave. His eyes widened as he struggled against the ribbons that kept him tied to the chair.
“I tell you, master. I gotta tell you. Mh- I’m so sorry,” he slurred his words as heavy tears fell from his eyes. You gently placed your hand on his cheek and wiped away the tears as you resumed bouncing on his dick. He whined out.
“Mmhg- it's too much!! Too much, master!” Aether cried as you ignored his pleas and sped up instead.
“God, Aether, your cock feels so fucking good,” you spoke as you continued watching him writhe in overstimulation. You’re so close, the speed of your bounces slow down. You look back at Aethers face and his dishevelled self sends you over the edge. His tears and drool running down his face, his eyes rolled back and tongue lolling out. White strings of cum splattered over yours and Aether’s abdomens.
“Fuck, I love you Aether.”

33rd Birthday!
Tumblr media
Hello my dear followers and random visitors of my blog.
I have already made a sorry announcement due to my hiatus but that’s not all I wanted to tell you.
This Monday, April 15th 2024 to be precise, is my Birthday. I’m already 33 years old! Would you believe that? I certainly wouldn’t. I feel like 16. 😂
And how pretty the number is, right? Two threes… My life path number is also 3. How neat is that, huh?
When it comes to angel number 33, this source says the following:
“The 33 angel number means anything is possible. This powerful angel number is also known as a master number because of its double digits mirroring each other and its powerful vibrations. The number 33 is linked to themes around creative thinking, deep compassion, spiritual-level connections, discipline, and bravery. When you see this number show up it could be because it's an opportune time for a change or because patience is paramount right now in your daily life because a spiritual meaning that will have major significance is soon to be revealed.”
Nothing can be more true for me as major change is about to happen for me. I don’t want to reveal what it is just now but I will keep you informed in time. 😜
And no, I’m not dating anyone 🤣 Still happily Sexy, free and single.
I did want to celebrate my birthday with you with some sort of event but as you know I was really busy so… I guess we will celebrate my 44th Birthday properly? LOL!
Honestly, I have a lot to be grateful for in my life, you guys in my little community included. I hope we can stay together for many years that come and have some more fun with both serious and kinky tarot readings.
And those might soon become even better articulate and with much more expressive vocabulary as your girl Kleo is currently fully immersed in listening to audio erotica, which is really good! I mean… not all of it but I have already found several favourite voice actors, their voice and style really suiting me and apart from having a good time listening to it while working (yes, I do listen to audio porn while at work, sue me if you want), I also learn a lot from it. You know I can just soak information like a sponge from anything I do and well… This is a really good source. Also, I’m considering holding a voice chat once in a while with my friends now as I really want to learn to use my voice as well as I use my fingers for typing. And yes, I tested with my bestie and I nearly choked when I had to pronounce word ‘f*ck’ out loud. You wouldn’t guess it by reading my posts but I’m really talking like a lady out loud. I rarely curse or say rude words. 🤭
I also learned about very surprising preferences through this audio erotica experience. I swear I didn’t expect to love what I love so much. It came as a shock and I truly thought my preferences to be completely different from what I actually enjoy the most. I guess there’s still a lot to learn about myself. Another great thing about my new hobby. You know how much I love to learn anything.
Anyway! That’s about my new hobby and about my approaching birthday.
Feel free to contact me through inbox or through DM or join my Discord. I don’t bite… unless you ask me to 😏 I’m also learning how to flirt better. You can be my test subject anytime. 😀 And no, it’s not to go hunt men, I’m way too old to change my ways and routines to fit another person’s lifestyle. My goal is actually much purer. I really like to make people happy and… well, I noticed people will feel happy, flattered and their self-esteem boosted when I flirt with them a little bit. Just another skill I’m learning in order to spread happiness and joy in the world. Might seem frivolous to you but… Well… I enjoy it. And that’s what counts for me.
So yeah! Happy Birthday to me! I’m not growing old, I’m only one year closer to death as my sister tells me every year since I was like 17. 😂 We are a weird family. Try not to think about it too much.
Thank you everyone who’s sticking around here. I promise I will post something soon. Maybe nothing super big but I will post. 🙂
Your forever joyful Oracle Kleo 🦄

Can you please talk about how you 3D model? I love your style and as an aspiring 3d modeller myself the dragon models you make are just so satisfying!! love the khepra (they can do no wrong)
Thank you!! I’d love to talk about it ,,
So I learned how to 3D model by following a roblox game studio called Sonar Studios a few years ago. The lead developer makes speedModeling videos on youtube if you'd like to reference those. Back then I could only learn by visuals and trying to figure out what they were doing but eventually after self teaching myself, I was able to become a trial dev for them and learn with them!! So what I’ll be talking about closely reflects their style of modeling.
First, I have this old Google slides I made of the basics of blender (program I use)(you can ignore the parts about roblox)
But before that, I want to share how my models started out (after a bit of eyeballing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy looks good visually UNTIL you look at his wireframe... oh boy... Some issues I can name here are: modifiers not applied, unoptimized, seems kinda lazily done
BUT! I wanted to continue modeling due to the idea of having "digital action figures of my designs" which is super fun lol. So I practiced here and there and now I'm pretty comfortable where I'm at but I wont pass up the opportunity to learn new things about blender!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(wings hidden for convenience) You can see now, this guy is MUCH cleaner looking compared to that model from 2021. I want to say though, the only modifier I don't apply unless I'm going to rig the model is the Mirror modifier.
OPTIMIZATION. IS. IMPORTANT! (and so is making sure your model looks clean on the wireframe level)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at the stats of both these models! The left is the model from 2021 while the right is the model from 2024... huge difference! That's because I learned how to optimize! Detail of your model plays a huge part in this too but you can see that visually, both appear to be just as detailed. (Lower numbers usually means better BUT do not over-optimize because it can make your model look lower quality. Clean up your model the best you can while retaining as much original quality as possible! it is OK to cut out some design elements, for example if you have a really complex splotch pattern, depending on how detailed, it's ok to get rid of smaller and less important patterns as long as you keep close to the original shape to preserve quality.)
Some things of note before I move on:
The way I apply materials in the google slides is outdated (in my style) and now I follow this tutorial (I also change my model ref sheets to include gradient palettes if I need them)
I DO THIS AS A HOBBY! Not everything I do is perfect and that's okay!
I ALWAYS simplify my ref sheets to make them easier to model (it is OK to have a super detailed design as long as there's no super tiny details you wont notice)(additionally, if your design is detailed and your numbers start to go up, don't worry)
I have a natural eye for 3D shapes which is why modeling comes easy to me but if you struggle with only a side view of your subject then draw/reference more angles!
Also... you didn't ask but I want to touch back on the idea of "digital action figures" with the basics of rigging your model
I follow this tutorial but specifically the section on "rigid rigging" because weight painting is still a mystery to me. I know it's important.. but because I don't use my models besides personal use, my rigging abilities are super messy lol. I don't name my bones unless it's for symmetry reasons. Something also of note is when I'm ready to rig my model, I split it. Basically meaning I turn it from a figure to an action figure by giving it ball joints! (this part is probably the most tedious and boring)
In this style of modeling, your joints may never be perfect but it doesn't matter, you learn to love it.

Every single Rainworld artist, new or old, please read!
So while this is on my mind, I just thought I would say something at the moment. I have seen so many, so many, artists copy or very closely copy a design from another persons since they really like their style and hope that if their style looks like this famous artists then they will get the same attention. This is slightly annoying to me, now drawing other peoples art or practicing design by using someone else's design then somehow in anyway making it super original is perfectly fine by me, it's really good to do that! But when you copy someone's design so closely that is looks like your trying to rip off their designs, that's not ok. another problem i see is people hating their designs cause they are not "detailed" or "pretty" or "different" enough from others. Now this post is gonna be about how you can make your own character with existing characters WITHOUT using someone else's design and not making the character "look boring" to you and others. Now no character is boring, everyone's different styles are amazing, this is not suppose to be a bad thing, this is just suppose to help other artists think better with making canon characters look original. Im gonna use Hunter as an example since I was drawing him when i thought of this. So hunter, let's take this step by step: Step 1: Do NOT look at a canon photo unless it's necessary for like a certain iconic scar or eye color or color or anything else like that, but completely IGNORE that canon design. Step 2: Break up what the canon character looks like into words. EX: Hunter is a slugcat with his color being on the red scale. He is being infected with the rot and is NSH's messenger. Now with this description a thousand different ideas can be made, I mean on the red scale could be red, pink, or all the way to a brown even! Then infected by rot? He could be fully infected by rot or he could be partly or be halfway, maybe he was cured from rot. And NSG's messenger? He could have a weird marking resembling that, or always have a green neuron with him, or have green eyes or green clothing or green markings, really anything! Now wasn't that easy ^w^ Step 3: Sketch/Doodle Do NOT instantly make a design choice unless you have one in mind right away, start doodling first, either digital or on paper and see how you like the design first, and if you like it then there you go! Now you ofc can change your design later on but it's better to have a main idea instead of posting something right away then regretting it since you don't like it. EX: For my Rivulet I first had him being a little more like the true rivulet design since the lore for my AU was different then, but when I was finally drawing him I didn't like his design and so I started messing around with it and finally I came up with my water bat design for him. Step 4: Finally, you have made it this far into the steps, you may now draw it completely, make a ref sheet or don't, join in on character group drawings and yada yada, you have your own design and you like it and that's all that matters! Step 5: Have fun, you are not limited by the canon design. Design however you like, give them any lore that probably isn't canon if you want to, make them aroace or gay or lesbian, change their gender, mess around, make them siblings with random people that shouldn't be their siblings, mess around with families and personalities, do what YOU want, no what others want or like ^w^ Hope this helped anyone who needed it!

AN: cutesy Urban fluff for all my Urban heauxs ❤️
Synopsis: You and Urban's daughter was now ten years old and wants mommy to teach her how to braid. What better way to do it then letting her practice on her daddy.
Pairing: Husband!Urban Wyatt x Wife!Reader
Please do not repost my content anywhere
"You plan on letting her WHAT?"
"Let her practice on you. She wants to learn how to braid."
"Uhh, do I get a say in this?"
"No, not really, no."
Happy wife, happy life and Urban knew better than to say no to you concerning anything. Especially when it came to the well-being of your daughter.
“Why can’t she practice on you?”
“I know your slow ass did not just ask me that when I literally have knotless braids in my head already.”
“She’s about to tear my hair out.”
“Will you stop being so dramatic? I’ll make sure she leaves you with at least something.”
“The things you do for your daughter, I swear. You both are probably going to be styling wigs next and use me as a mannequin.”
“That actually isn’t a bad idea. She wants to be a cosmetologist so she has to start somewhere.”
“Yeah, but not on me!”
“Lux! Come here baby. Daddy said he doesn’t mind and you can practice on him.” You said calling out for her and suddenly Urban’s eyes went wide.
You both deciding on her name was a no brainer once you came across Lux. It means light and she was the light of both of your lives. You felt that it was something unique and different which would allow for her to stand out.
“Daddy did not say that!”
“Shut up Urb. You need to be supportive right now. You know how sensitive she is.”
Your daughter had always been very shy which is the complete opposite of both of her parents personalities. She had plenty of friends, was into art and rather spend her time in a museum than on her phone which you both were thankful for. She had recently approached you about wanting to learn how to braid hair since she was getting to the age where she wanted more independence.
I mean double digits is a big deal.
You promised to block out time for her this weekend so that you could begin to teach her and hopefully one day with practice she’ll be able to eventually do her own hair without needing any help from you.
“Coming, mom!”
You then turned to your husband who had a sour look on his face and his arms crossed.
“Fix your face before she comes in here.”
Once Lux came into view she had nothing but a smile on her face with her arms full of hair products to use on Urban. You can tell he was holding back a groan when he saw how many things she had.
“Okay, little one. We probably don’t need all of this for daddy’s hair since his is a little bit different than ours.” You said while going through the pile that she neatly placed on the table.
“Okay, I brought some bows too just in case to make sure the ends will stay.”
She held up the pink bows and all you could do was stifle a laugh while Urban sat there awaiting to be tortured.
“Thanks for letting me practice on you, daddy.”
“Anything for my baby girl. Just... try to leave me with some hair when you’re done, okay?”
Lux let out a small laugh and nodded before picking up the comb to get ready to start.
“Okay, first things first. You have to learn how to part. Now it doesn’t have to be perfect and it’s not going to be since it’s your first time. I’ll do it first and then let you try. But, we need the other comb since it will get it straighter.”
Lux was mentally taking notes as she watched you begin to start parting Urban’s hair. You wanted to take a decent amount so that her braids wouldn’t end up being small.
“Did you see what I did? Do you think you’re ready to try the next one?”
She nodded her head yes and eagerly took the comb from you as you moved to the side.
“Shit! I mean ow!”
“Oh, did I pull too hard? I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, baby girl. Keep going.” Urban responded while eyeing you and you made a mental note in your mind to make this up to him later.
You let her try and do it without stepping in to help her and you can admit she wasn’t doing a bad job so far.
“Okay, finished.”
You went over to inspect her work and even though the part wasn’t as straight as yours was, it wasn’t half-bad for someone who is only ten.
“Not too bad, peanut. Now, some people braid overhand and some do underhand. Typically overhand is the easiest so that’s the one that we’ll do, but I can do both. I’ll do the first one and then let you do the second.”
Lux was intrigued as she watched you braid Urban’s hair. He had let you braid it plenty of times before so you didn’t see what the big deal was when you first told him that Lux was going to practice on him.
Once you got to the end of the braid, Lux handed you a pink bow which you tied onto the end to keep it from coming undone.
This was going to look so cute when it was finished. Pink bows and all.
Lux inspected your braid before she picked up the next section of Urban’s hair. She made three small sections and then started.
You and Urban didn’t want to break her concentration so you both stayed quiet.
Once she got to the end of the braid you handed her a pink bow and she quickly fastened it.
She took a step back to admire her work.
“Look mom! It doesn’t look as good as yours, but I finished it!”
It definitely didn’t look as good as yours, but you didn’t expect it to. You admit it was little lumpy and even a little lopsided, but she did it.
“It looks good, peanut! With a little more practice, you’ll be braiding daddy’s hair all the time in no time without my help.”
“Whaa..” Urban began to say but you pinched him in order for him to keep quiet.
“Now, we have to do the rest, how about it?”
“I have at least ten pink bows left.”
----
There was a knock at the door and Urban quickly went to answer it since he was the only one downstairs.
He opened the door to be met with his best friend who looked at his hair and was trying not to laugh.
“Don’t even say it.”
“What happened?” Jack asked as he stepped through the threshold and into the foyer.
“Lux and Y/N happened.”
Lux having heard her favorite uncle’s voice quickly took the steps two at a time to greet him.
“Uncle Jack! I did daddy’s hair! Do you like it?”
“Hey peanut and yeah it looks good. The pink bows were a nice touch. Was that your idea?” He replied while bringing her in for a hug.
“Mommy helped me and yes! And she said soon I’ll be able to do his hair all by myself.”
“Did she now? You did a good job. I might have to hire you to do my hair when I go on tour.”
Lux let out a laugh and then suddenly got a serious look on her face while holding out her hand.
“How much are you going to pay me?”

for the weirdly specific ask game: super curious about 5, 12, 21, and 27 :>
Thank you so much, I'm gonna respond to all the lovely folks who asked me here too about the weirdly specific art ask game! (Thank you to @phantomseptember, @wyrmzier , @grumpyoldsnake, @philcoulson-redtapeninja @swordsandspectacles and the other anons for asking!)
1. Art programs you have but don't use? I don’t think I have one! I’ve been playing on Photoshop for so long, though I’m thinking on getting Clip Paint Studio for comics at one point!
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)? Mmmm, often find I draw folks looking to the left, but wouldn’t say I prefer one way or the other, especially when I’m flipping the canvas at least three times to make sure they’re all even!
3. What ideas come from when you were little? Mmm, lots of fantasy things, I have this old story about the green man that I made when I was 16 and it’s been rolling and remade ever since! It really needs another go other, it was my first dip into anything non cisgender before I knew, y’know?
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw? Mmm, probably cars. Hate drawing cars, so annoying.
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself? Ohhh, probably, 80%, but that’s what happens when you’re chronically online like me lol
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw? Mmm, love a big floofy skirt or shirt, all those folds, very hard but so satisfying when I get rolling
12. Easiest part of body to draw? Mmm, eyes n’ mouth? I wanted to get good at them ever since I was a kid, cause they’re the expressive bits! I want to get better at Hands, the gay part of the body.
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing? I honestly can’t think of any? I guess I try n see the good in any art, even if it’s not my vibe; the colours, the lines… There’s always something
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)? At home! I try and keep Digital art to my desk, but If I’m doing ink art for fun, it’s on my bedroom floor, praying that I don’t mess the carpet
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy? Mmmmmm, mouths and hair?
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways? Ohhh, mmm, lineless art! the amount of effort that goes into it, love it!
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with? Iiii should be doing it more! But it’s usually a pretty lady with voluminous hair and fangs, it’s a good go to!
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated? Mmm, I think, it’s this piece, It really vibes with what I want to make at the minute, deep shadows, good lines, good Shapes! Thanks again for asking me!!!

No. 36 - Riyadh Air
No, they are not changing their name to Saudi Arabian Airways, but there is a new development on the Saudi Arabian flag carrier front.
Tumblr media
That's right, Saudia is dead, sayonara you w-
No. That isn't true, that was a joke. But what isn't a joke is that Riyadh Air is a planned second flag carrier for Saudi Arabia.
Tumblr media
That's mostly a joke. Other countries have multiple flag carriers, though that comes with a couple caveats. Usually when this happens one is full-service and international while the other is domestic and/or low cost. The UAE has two flag carriers, but one is Dubai's and the other is Abu Dhabi's, which feels like an important distinction.
Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, just has decided they want to operate a second airline instead of doing the normal thing and putting all their resources into one really good airline. I don't understand it. The plan is to keep Saudia based in Jeddah while Riyadh Air is based in Riyadh...again, plenty of airlines have multiple hubs, so I don't see the point. They claim to be the first "digital-native airline", which is shaped like words yet means nothing (also, take that up with David Neeleman and Breeze). They've nabbed Etihad's old CEO and bought a bunch of 787s, and the stated goal is to become the largest carrier in the Gulf region at an unprecedented blistering pace in order to increase tourism. Given Emirates's numbers...well, it's probably still more likely to happen than a startup airline operating exclusively A380s managing to turn a profit, but that's not saying much.
Anyway, they've got a livery! Apparently this is the first of two, so expect a follow-up post when the second one drops, but for now there's plenty to talk about as is.
Unlike many - nay, most - of the subjects I cover, Riyadh Air has made me do absolutely zero research. You do get modern liveries like jetBlue and Lufthansa with little style guides to weakly attempt to back up their relatively mundane graphic design choices and things like condor and Icelandair's lovely little webpages, but Riyadh Air has done them all at least one if not several better by not only explaining in detail where they got their inspiration but also giving me a high-res 3D model of their airplane that I can rotate and zoom in and out on.
Take care; my computer is fairly underpowered and I do have an absurd number of tabs open most of the time, but this did crash my browser multiple times. Even just opening the main page of their website makes my CPU sound like it's spooling up for takeoff.
Okay. First I want to discuss the logo. They've got a video up on their thought process. I had transcribed it, but it looks better in motion, and thankfully they've stopped making it autoplay (presumably because, as I mentioned, this website absolutely guzzles processor as is) and in the process made it possible for me to simply left-click it off their website and into this post. Don't worry about it killing your browser. It's a normal video in a normal tumblr post without a 100 million dollar website chugging along in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I've taken some screenshots in case anyone does have trouble with the video.)
Now this is how you design a logo. The airplane window thing feels, in retrospect, so obvious I can't believe nobody had done it yet. I think it pairs gorgeously with the R, and I love that they chose to take inspiration from Arabic calligraphy, which is not only a massive point of pride for cultures which utilize the script but also just generally gorgeous. (It looks a bit like a stretched backwards hamza to me.) The shape of the bird's wing is the part I have the most trouble actually connecting to what I'm seeing, but sure, I'll give it to them. What the heck. This logo is nice.
I mentioned when discussing China Airlines that very few airlines use lavender as a primary color. Well, here's one that does! They actually discuss this on their website as well:
Inspired by the lavender blossoms that carpet Saudi Arabia, we've chosen this color because it symbolizes Saudi generosity and its authentic hospitality.
And this is, again, pretty fantastic. This is a thoughtful choice which isn't lazy or arbitrary. It has the potential to really pack a visual punch, and it does the thing I love when flag carriers do - references a feature of its home nation.
Tumblr media
An upside to the fact that the livery page takes eons for my computer to chew on is that I get shown this lovely loading screen, which demonstrates the fantastic combination of blues and purples which make up the full scheme of this airline's colors. I love the combination of these colors. Light saturated colors are rare enough, but to see extremely dark blues and purples together like this is a rare delight. It definitely has the potential to get eyestrainy, but if done well it could look absolutely breathtaking.
But will it be done well? After all, a good idea isn't always well-implemented - see condor - and China Airlines's livery fails for me because it's barely got any lavender! So does Riyadh Air fall into the same pit? Let's check the browser-destroying 3D model they've lovingly provided us.
I love that 3D model, by the way. Instead of looking for a bunch of pictures of airplanes that happen to be in the correct lighting and at the right angle to demonstrate the exact thing I'm attempting to discuss I can just...zoom in while putting the plane at the specific angle I want. Normally I actually try not to rely too heavily on things like style guides because a piece of flat-colored concept art isn't actually going to communicate how a plane looks in motion and with light on it, but this is a really really robust model. Sure, it's not quite as maneuverable as I'd like it to be, it's still not a perfect representation of real life, but it's really well made. It even sways side to side a bit and if you zoom in close enough you can see they bothered to model the external sensors and the engines are even turning! Don't worry about the fact that if you zoom in even further you can tell the engines are just a fan suspended floating in a cowling. They even added ambient engine sounds. This model is so cool it legitimately took me several minutes of turning it around and muttering "wow..." under my breath before I realized the environment it was sitting in was just some very stretched and crunchy jpgs.
Tumblr media
Mmm, those reflections.
To be honest, I also just enjoyed playing with this thing. It's almost like having a real model plane, but doesn't cost more money than I have! But enough of that.
Tumblr media
So they definitely didn't chicken out when it came to the lavender. This plane is as purple as a Breeze Airways plane is blue (it is very purple). It's not just a purple tube, though. Even from a distance you can see that there's added detail here.
I love the wordmark, first off. They've really committed to the billboard look with this gigantic text in both English and Arabic. I love it. With such an overwhelming main body color it feels prudent to make sure the name is as visible as possible so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
Tumblr media
And with this gigantic, recognizable logo plastered on the bottom you'd be able to identify it just as well from below (and this is zoomed out as far as the website let me!). In fact, the depth of the design really shines best from below. That's not necessarily a good thing, because your plane does have to be parked sometimes, but it's not a dealbreaker either. I just need to say that this is probably my favorite design for an engine nacelle, ever. It's gorgeous, and you can see in the first picture how well it flows into the main design. They don't go together quite as well from the bottom, and from below the plane does look a bit rear-heavy and the wordmark peering in is a bit awkward, but none of those ruin it. I would be stunned if I saw this fly overhead.
The website provides a few details about the design if you zoom in and click little black dots. It took me ages to realize this. It's neither intuitive nor accessible and I truly despise it, so I've taken the liberty of transcribing the bits that matter.
Tumblr media
You can turn this plane in any which way you'd like, zoom in and out, and the details on the bottom never stop being beautiful and coherent. It truly does remind me of calligraphy. As they describe it:
Rooted in our Heritage The controlled, smooth linear profiles make up our signature "Canopy Twist". A perfect balance of our rich local culture and our modern global outlook, connecting the city of Riyadh to the world.
I love the name 'Canopy Twist', to be honest. And I love the design, too. My one criticism of it is the colors. They already have an established secondary shade of purple. That they used the text color for the highlights makes sense, but why couldn't they have used their lavender instead of a third shade of purple? In the quantity used for the underside it feels disconnected from the rest of the livery and they could have fixed that very easily by just...using their already existing secondary shade of purple? I think it would make for a very nice bridge to the tail as well, and it just feels like a colossal missed opportunity.
Tumblr media
You may have noticed that the bulk of the fuselage body is a color a bit darker than what might conventionally be considered 'lavender'. This, too, is noted.
Indigo Livery Inspired by the ever-changing colors that paint the sky from dusk till dawn. A symbol of tranquility, harmony and integrity.
(This color is obviously purple, not indigo, but I will not belabor that point.)
I love the description, the idea of the transition between dusk and dawn. Much like the window as a basis for a logo, this makes me go "why in the world has nobody thought of that before? That's brilliant!"
Tumblr media
It makes me think a bit more could have been done in the details. Maybe the canopy twist could be a gradient, like the gradient of the sky while the sun is rising? Just a thought.
Tumblr media
And ultimately it's the canopy twist that is my only real sticking point with this livery. It is beautiful and unique and well-designed and it is simply a color that sticks out like a sore thumb. It's the only warm thing creeping into a design otherwise full of beautiful cool tones, it has gorgeous flow within itself but breaks up the feeling of consistency through the airframe as a whole, and I just...I really wish it were lavender.
Tumblr media
If that's my main issue you can do a lot worse. And overall I do like the Riyadh Air livery. If that one detail was changed, this would easily be an A. This review would be all but uncritical. Except for the fact that it could use a bit of canopy twist up top, too (maybe just a tiny bit on the top of the nose, flowing in the same direction) in order to make the plane feel less rear-heavy (though it already beats out the vast majority of liveries in that sense), the issue with the color is my only big criticism. But it's the main detail of the design, isn't it?
It's wild. So much of the time my reviews are "good details, bad when you step back". But this is the opposite. Fantastic, but there's that one detail that sticks with you. And the details by and large are far from bad too. I mentioned the nacelles, and I think it very elegantly transitions the tail into the body. It would be more elegant if the design on the body was the same lavender, though!
Tumblr media
A few more nitpicks: the centering of the logo on the tailfin is a little strange, the tail would look better if it had a bit of a gradient to make it less matte-seeming, and the combined effect of those is very luxury-hotel-towel-monogram. Okay. I'm done complaining.
Tumblr media
So it falls short of being one of the best I've ever reviewed, but I still really, really like it. The calligraphy inspiration creates these elegant sweeping lines that are perfectly at home on the 787. The deep purple looks luxurious despite the fact that Riyadh Air doesn't plan to offer first class. It's eyecatching. It's stylish.
And, now that I've covered all this, let's look at the colors in person! That's right, they've already had a plane delivered in full Riyadh Air colors.
Tumblr media
The deep purple with the lighter canopy twist, combined with the tiny white dots of the various probes and such, make this plane look like an animal camouflaging itself against the night sky in a place untouched by light pollution. The light lavender contrasts sharply in this particular image, sharply enough that it feels like a slice cut out of the plane.
Tumblr media
This continues to be an issue from other angles and in other lightings, but the cool-toned light makes this purple look like true indigo and the blueish cast improves the look, giving an almost fluorescent appearance to the transition between the twist and the tail. The way the light reflects off the dark paint makes it look rippling and shifting and alive in a way it never could off white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In shadow, the plane looks as dark as a city sky. In light, the vibrant purple of a fresh eggplant. This paint job adapts wonderfully to its environment. Much like Vietnam Airlines's, each light brings out a unique beauty.
Tumblr media
And sometimes, the tail, detached though it may look, does so in the way a shining arm of a spiral galaxy neatly transitions into the black expanse around it.
Tumblr media
Riyadh Air's planes range from ultraviolet to supervoid, but they are never lost in their environment. The principles behind the design remain consistent, and beautiful, and alone in a sky full of planes which refuse to embrace the dark skies they fly in on red-eye journeys.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, I think Riyadh Air's livery feels a bit overdesigned. They added one color too many, and a few decisions feel like they don't belong together in the same picture. Just think about the amount of colors here, the balance of major features, and think about Vietnam Airlines, and you'll see what I mean. I'm not a fan of minimalism, but sometimes the only way to keep a story straight is to minimize loose ends. A secret becomes exponentially more likely to be exposed with each new person who learns it.
But before I looked closer, before I zoomed in and out on a little 3D model while my computer screamed, I saw this livery for the first time and my jaw hit the floor. And the average person isn't going to think about this the way I do. Ultimately, my critical eye is usually something I defer to, but I can't argue with the fact that this livery is going to be to someone else what China Airlines is to me. And, like China Airlines, when they come back and look closer at it they'll notice it wasn't as perfect as they thought, but...we've come so far, if this is someone's China Airlines. And as much as I nitpick at details the package counts, too. If you asked me why China Airlines got a C- instead of a D+, my honest reason would be...it struck me enough that I singled it out to begin with, even though that started to fall apart when I looked closer.
Tumblr media
Why am I giving Riyadh Air an A- instead of a B+? Because this plane will stun people 5,000 feet below it, and they'll think to themselves that it's the prettiest plane they've ever seen.

Save Your Work!
Hello, friends!
This week is going to be very quick because, not to get ahead of myself, but next week is likely going to be pretty long. I didn't mean to time things out so there'd be a long one right after I'm done with work for the year and most people are off for that final week, but that's how things worked out. And the week after that, the last weekend of the year, I'm going to do a Best of 2023 round-up.
But, in my brief update this week, I wanted to talk about some very straightforward best practices.
I turned on my computer this morning and was shocked to find that I was *turning on* my computer this morning. One way or another, it had shut down since the last time I used it. Maybe it was Becca or a planned restart or something, but however it happened, my computer was off. And as any artist should know... you neeeeeeeeeeeed to make sure your stuff is saved again and again. You see, I was working on my holiday gift guide that I'm building for my Patreon when the computer shut off and I lost a whole spread and some change. All of it. The images, the hyperlinks, the text--both in terms of what I wrote and the font choices I made--everything. It shouldn't be terrible, but it'll add at least an extra hour on as I have to rebuild all of that. So, if you ever work on anything that would benefit from being saved, make sure you do!
The other best practice I want to emphasize today is something I say a lot. If you'd like to work in comics professionally, please make it easier on yourself and any potential collaborators/hiring folks, by making your web presence clear and accessible. Something I've slowly been working on over the past few weeks is going through my Twitter as I get ready to delete it before the end of the year and looking to make sure I have contact information from anyone I'm interested in not losing. I'm looking for emails, or agents, or websites. And the more varied the information, the better. Because I'm trying to incorporate that into my existing digital rolodex, whenever possible, while emails (for talent or their agents) are the things that are most helpful, I am looking to add your website info so I can quickly pop to it before emailing you and make sure you're who I think you are and your style is what I think it is. As much as possible, when I look through info I got from old like Visible Women sheets and the like, I'm looking for people who aren't just including their handle on one social because those can change, or who aren't just linking to an Instagram or Twitter account with "DM me" because while I know some people work best in DMs, for legal paperwork and the like, an email is so much more helpful.
Lastly, and this should go without saying, but this is a post about common sense practices, be kind to folks. I don't know why this seems so counter-intuitive to certain people, but if you're openly hostile toward your peers, they don't want to work with you. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy of ostracization. It literally can't be said enough. Comics as an industry is doing just fine and differentiation in the medium in both format and talent is only a good thing.
Alright. More next week!
What I enjoyed this week: Dungeons & Daddies (Podcast), Reverse 1999 (Video Game), Nancy (Comic), Lego Masters (TV show), Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror (Short story collection), Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Links (Video Game), Dandadan (Manga), Godzilla: Minus One (Movie), Godzilla Raids Again (Movie), Cunk on Earth (TV show), I'm a Virgo (TV show), Clyde Fans by Seth (Comic), getting and making some really exciting 2023 news. There's some amazing stuff to come!
New Releases this week (12/13/2023): Sonic the Hedgehog: Winter Jam (Editor)
Final Order Cutoff next week (12/18/2023):  Godzilla Valentine's Day Special (Editor) If you haven't seen it, I put together a little explainer on what exactly a "Final Order Cutoff" is and why it matters! And if you found this helpful and have a platform where you think people should know, those explainers are watermarked and good to share!
New Releases next week (12/20/2023): Godzilla: The War for Humanity #3 (Editor) Godzilla Rivals: Jet Jaguar vs. Megalon (Editor)
Announcements: If there is one blog this year that you should not miss, it's next week's. Big news to come.
The Cartoonist Cooperative is still doing E-Sim cards for Gaza. You can donate a digital sim card so that residents can get access to the internet and have more functional phones and, in exchange, get some comics or a drawing or whatever else is available from the many participating artists. Additionally, the CC is hosting their mini-comic awards! It's a cool way to maybe get your mini-comic recognized and make some scratch!
You can also give more directly. If you don't have money, and I get it, you can call or fax or email or show up at the offices of your representatives. Keep your eyes open for actions too, whether they're another general strike like what happened last Monday or demonstrations and marches in your area. Given the nature of the things, they often come together fairly quickly, so do exercise your due diligence. Also, of course, being informed and just giving your time to Palestinian writers is incredibly valuable. Whether that is journalists on the ground--who are being murdered at extraordinary rates--or reading Fiyah's Palestine Solidarity issue or anything from Verso's solidarity reading list, having and sharing that knowledge is significant.
Becca just did their Art vs. Artist post for 2023. They did a lot of really cool work this year! They also posed a spicy art version. And as if it could not be said enough, while we've got some things brewing (and now on a schedule), you should reach out if you'd like to work on comics with them! I think we're both looking to do more next year! You can find their gallery on their website and also, y'know, maybe pick up a few things for belated gifts while you're there!
If you aren't a Patreon backer yet, well, like I said above, I've been working on something pretty cool. I'm building a holiday gift guide. It won't probably be out with a lot of shopping time for Christmas in particular, but I thought it'd be a fun way to showcase some of what I've been learning more generally about design and how to make comics and zines and stuff. I'm really proud of it and it'll be exclusive to $10+ backers for December and then will be made public in a couple months. Also at that $10+ tier, there's stuff like a tour of my workspace, an adults-only podcast pilot that Becca and I recorded called "Abandoning the Premise" (short sample here), a review of root beers is also coming up quick, old D&D campaigns I ran, and more! Another goal of mine for next year is to grow my Patreon and also have it start making some money to fund more comics ventures for myself.
Pic of the Week: I teased it last week, but the Winter Jam team did a Winter Jam-piece! Our fabulous leader, Iasmin Omar Ata, got Reggie Graham, Adam Bryce Thomas, Abigail Oz, Shawn Lee, and me to put together a happy holidays card from the Winter Jam cast! I did the thought balloon Froggy because even when Big is holding "Froggy", he can't stop thinking about that frog!

It's interesting how 'I tought myself how to draw using youtube videos' has created a pretty distinctive style. I don't mean that everyone who was self taught trough the internet draws exactly the same don't get me wrong. But I was walking on the art market trying to see as much as I could of the 85 artists, and from the ones I can pick out as online artists (and they're are of course plenty I must have passed where I didn't have a clue) there were some recognisable elements from a distance that made me go "Ah yes, an artist from the school of the internet"
It's something in the colorscheme people use, and also the general outline of characters. It's like you can recognise the animators for Calarts versus other animators. Because it's not a "lol digital artists can only draw one way" because I can also spot people who got their illustration degree at my uni bc their head teacher had a specific way of filling the entire page that they also adapted.
So yeah, it's not bad, everyone has their influence. I'd just say two things about it which is one, don't draw like that if you think you have too, by which I mean never even open one of those "You're drawing shadows wrong" clickbait videos on youtube. There's no rule like that. But if you're drawing the way you like and that feels natural then you're on the right track! (art uni has bad art teachers you just ignore and the internet does too, but online you don't even have to pretend to listen to get a passing grade, huray!)
Second think I would say, when I was talking about the illustration department at my uni: at one point there was a collective show of everyone who graduated in that department, and I could not see where one artist ended and the others began. In this case it was bc the teacher had gotten too strict (I also had a class with her and hooh boy I ended up making up a parody of her style bc she hated everything and she liked that 💀) There was however one student who had put embroidery trough her paper. I remember that. She's the only one I can distinctly remember bc she had a thing. So if you're drawing in a popular style, try to find your niche. Something you love drawing more, a color you really love.
Saying 'you need to have your own style' can be debillitating to an artist bc there is no unique style to find, you're always a collage of everything you love. But it is good to think, if my work hangs in a line with others, how would my friends pick it out. They're usually better at that too, my loved ones can pick out work of me even if I think it's in a wildly different style. I call it a fingerprint, and it's usually there before you know.
But just, get weird with it. Print out your drawing and put stiches in it like that girl did and scan it in again. Draw upside down. Draw everything in greytones and then add color. Draw some classic painting in a widly different style. Make 5 second sketches of people walking by. It's not the style you use that makes you a better or 'legitimate' artist, but the ways you fuck around. There's nothing wrong with drawing chibi art, but draw it in charcoal sometimes. Or on an elaborate oil painting. Or hell do watch those clickbait youtube video's but follow their advice oppposite and see what funky shit you end up with.

Sup guys, gals, and non-binary pals~!
I’ve decided to go against my parents’ (totally not better) judgement and use my self-taught art skills to do FREE commissions for people! (I used to do this all the time on TikTok about 2-3 years ago, so I’m completely serious about the free part.)
(Btw, when I say commissions I basically mean I’ll draw any character(s) you want [Oc or not your own] and post a pic of the finished product along with a mention and a thank you!)
Now! For the rules: (these have a chance of being changed at any moment, so make sure to stay up to date)
1. Characters: As of right now, I do not have a limit of how many characters I can put in one picture HOWEVER if you ask for 3 or 4 or more, I will most likely have to make it a digital piece. (I do digital 15”x11” and traditional)
2. Media & Traditional/Digital: My traditional pieces are done in my sketchbook with prismacolor lineart and all coloring is done with alcohol markers (mostly Copic). My digital pieces are done on Procreate (15”x11” with a max of 68 layers).
3. Styles: I have one style which is basically detailed realism turned into cartoon. This style only shows usually the shoulders and up of a character (or occasionally torso and up).
4. Page Amounts: Every commission is default one page no matter the amount of characters. However, I do have one other option for the more detailed style-if you want a bigger drawing/want to see more of the character (ex. torso and up) and have me using traditional media, I am willing to use two pages for the product. (Example will be given.)
(Here’s my examples. ⇣)
ALL CHARACTERS BELOW ARE MINE.
(Except Glamrock Chica, but still it’s my style.)
DO NOT STEAL.
Example of me doing multiple characters on digital: (this picture is still in progress)

Detailed style on traditional using two pages:

(NOTE-the colors and lighting on these example pictures and any commissions will most likely be slightly different from what it’s actually supposed to look like! Sorry!)
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading and if you’ve made it this far, please give me at least a like for support. :,) If you’d like a commission done, please tell me in the COMMENTS on this post. If you have any questions or if the smth was a little too confusing for you, please tell me in the Q&A SECTION on my profile! :D
1/21/2024 UPDATE- I apologize to whoever currently has a commission in waiting from me. From this point on, I will be taking a break from commissions due to school, free time, and a lack of motivation. I started this concept last summer and it worked great because I had a bunch of free time, however that is no longer the case for me. I might start up commissions again at some point within the next few months or when summer starts again. Thank you to all of those who received an order from me, and I apologize to those who are still waiting on theirs. I’m not sure if I’ll be sending an apology message to those people stating that I’ll have to cancel the commission, or if I should keep attempting to find the time and motivation to do their pieces. I might appreciate some help deciding. Thank you.

Do u have any social and tips on drawing?
Not sure what ya mean on 'social' but I do have drawing tips!
-Practice! This is probably the tip you will hear from ANY and EVERY artist, but it really is true. You will not improve if you do not practice. When I say 'practice' what I mean is this: Draw as much as you can when you can. If you only draw for 5-minutes once a month, you're not going to improve like someone who draws daily. How much and often you practice will also be determined by your lifestyle. Work, school, social life, other hobbies ect are important as well, so remember your balance. Also, PLEASE use references. No, using references is not and will never be cheating. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of it. Also, draw as much variety as you can as well. Always be willing to work out of your comfort zone, but also don't feel as though you have to force yourself to draw things you don't want to all the time. Balance. When practicing, utilize tutorials that you can find literally everywhere and try watching speedpaints/draws. They help me a lot!
-Learn your anatomy! Your art will improve so much quicker when you take time to learn anatomy. For some, learning anatomy in art is fun while for others, it's a bit of a drag. However, it's super important. Once you know your anatomy, you can push things in terms or art style because as the saying goes 'You have to know the rules to break them'. So before you go all cartoony and wobbly with your anatomy for a style, try to know the actual anatomy first. it helps!
-Artist > Tools! No, you don't need an expensive tablet or art program or marker set or brush set ect, ect. The tools do not make the art, the artist does. Yes, tools can make things easier and can be fun to experiment with and eventually everyone finds what they prefer more, but the more expensive your art equipment is doesn't mean that your work will turn out better. If you're a beginner artist, play with cheap mediums first. Crayola crayons and MS Paint can still make art. Only put money into supplies, tools, and programs that you know you will utilize to its worth. If you're brand-new to digital art, for example, don't go looking into a tablet that costs hundreds of dollars. I started digital art with Gimp (a free art program) and my computer mouse. I've used a mouse longer than I've used my tablet so far and even though I've traded in my mouse days for my tablet, I was still able to make some good art with the mouse.
-Get Inspired By Others, But Don't Compare! Every artist, big and small has looked at someone else's work and told themselves "Why can't I draw like that? My work isn't as good as theirs.". This is a good way to put yourself down and to take the fun out of your art along with turning a blind eye to the progress you have actually made. Instead, look at other people's work and inspire yourself. What about their work do you like? Is there any technique that they do that you can try out? Break down how they put their art together and maybe you can learn from it. Of course, never copy a person's artwork or directly steal, but take away inspiration. Do you like how they do facial expressions? Do you like they way they do anatomy? Do you like how their lineart looks? Do you like how they color? What about someone else's art do you love, and take inspiration. Take it from multiple sources and you'll find all sorts of unique ways people make art that you can try out for yourself!
-KEEP YOUR OLD ART! Especially if you're a beginner at art, this is important. It's super easy to look at your art and go 'ew', before deleting it or throwing it in the trash. Don't do that. Your future self will thank you for hanging onto all of your old art so you can go back and see just how much you've truly improved. Also, it's fun to go back and redraw old art!
These are just some tips I have and I do hope they help!

It got too long and heartfelt in the reblog, so I decided it deserved its own post XD
Tumblr media
BOOM. MY OLD ART FROM LIKE 2018/19???
This is my bestie's Harry Potter OC that I drew for her! I actually had some similar drawings of both our OCs, but they're not in my possession right now XD and maybe they'll never be! But it's cool to see how very far I'll e come since then.here's some of my more recent art, just so you can see them side by side XD
Tumblr media
For me, personally, seeing them side by side makes me giddy. They're so different, it's hard to link them together, hard to look at them and think the same person drew them. But I did. And as someone who grew up with another fabulous artist (@/rustic-space-fiddle), | was always impatient, always discouraged to look at my own art and see everything it was missing. I wanted to draw like Rusty, but I was so very unskilled. I was very eager to reach the day when I could match her skill, when I could look at my art and see in it everything that I saw in hers.
And today, I can honestly, confidently, gratefully say that I have arrived.
Obviously, if you go check out Rusty’s art, you’ll see I am by no means as good as her. But I learned awhile ago that I’ll never be, no one will—not only am I biased that she’s the best artist in the world (because she is), but Rusty draws the way only Rusty can, and the way only she will. Others may draw similarly, others may copy her, but art is like a fingerprint. Each style and piece is unique to the person who drew it. Therefore, it’s unfair for me to compare myself to Rusty when I could never possess her fingerprint in the first place. But that doesn’t change the fact that I used to compare myself to her so harshly—and the fact that to a younger me, I have achieved exactly what I wanted.
2018 was not the year I started drawing. Was it perhaps the year of my first exploration into the digital realm? Yes, but before then, I was drawing horses. I love horses, and I loved them so much they were all I ever drew. My walls were adorned with dozens of drawings of horses. I’ve since fallen out of the habit of drawing horses so regularly, but all those drawings are what started me drawing. I learned to hold a pencil and put it to paper drawing horses, and then from there, I just started drawing everything else. I only recently started drawing in seriousness, in the grand scheme of things. A year or two ago. And then I was drawing people most of the time, and the occasional dog or cat. And there were many bumps along the way—my discouragement at my own ability, as well as my inability to draw digitally, as I was quickly coming to love. The iPad I used at the time simply didn’t support Procreate after awhile, so I was using my sister’s iPad.
There are also the artists which inspired me. Obviously, rustic-space-fiddle was—and still is—my number one support and inspiration, she was my goal. But then I got instagram and I saw people’s different styles, and while I don’t know where exactly the inspiration from them comes from, it’s certainly there, perhaps in the courage with which I now draw. The second biggest inspiration in my life has been, without a doubt, Jojo. Her art style, which I adore, is something I have tried to imbue in mine—I’ve been told before that it can be seen, but I’m unsure of that. Still, even if I do not draw in her style, I think I draw in her energy. In the way that I draw Legend, that style, that goal, that love for him and her art, I think it’s there every time I draw Legend, and even in the other things that I draw too. She may never know, but she is perhaps the only other artist in the world I have ever really hoped to be like.
Anyways. I guess what I am simply trying to say is I’m happy. I’m proud. I’m content with my art, in a way I once hoped I would achieve, and while I know I have many things to learn, I approach them without that lost hopelessness I used to feel, but with passion, curiosity, and the determination to grow better.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. You didn’t really have any reason to read this—even if we have talked, even if we are mutuals, I’m still a stranger whose ramblings about her art hold almost no weight at all. But you did anyways, because you were curious, because you cared, because it was interesting, moving, inspiring. Whatever it was, thank you :)
I’ve come a very long way. And I’ll go a very long way more. I hope you’ll be here to see it all!
