I've seen mixed reviews on this one but I had a fun time. Kanghan is a prissy little spoiled brat, but he's my prissy little spoiled brat. I loved their story progression. Which is saying a lot for me bc I don't like enemies to lovers. like why are we fighting? also "i'm an introvert" is the funniest shit i've heard all year.

La Pluie

this was so shockingly good i wish it got more attention. iqiyi in general really did their big one this year. when it rains you can only hear your soulmate? love!

Laws of Attraction

this was a rollercoaster. i started watching ironically because i thought it would be terrible when i saw the mc go super saiyan. that shit is still hilarious idc.

Love Syndrome III

Now before we start throwing tomatoes...let's hear me out. Nothing has caught my attention this year the way this series did. This was another series I was watching ironically until suddenly i wasn't. It's also just so funny that they released the third one without dropping a first or second. but bad bitches don't need to explain themselves. and YES love syndrome is a bad bitch. let's stop acting like we watch bl's solely for the quality. i don't need marvel cgi to have a good time. sometimes a dollar store wig and the most toxic couple you've ever seen is enough to make some shit shake. if this was released during the tharntype era??? oh bitches would've ate it up. HAPPILY. rant over.

hi friends !! bit of a different post this time, but i wanna talk about disney and it’s place in the agere community.

i won’t get into specifics, but events in palestine r making a lot of people (including me) decide to boycott disney by not doing anything that lets them make money. if you don’t know about this, i rly rly encourage you to do ur own research (ideally while not in little space since it’s .. very rough topics) and make ur own choice on wether or not u wanna support them after knowing the full story of what’s going on n disney’s involvement.

this post is for littles who feel conflicted by the calls for a boycott!!

first of all, i know it can be scary to find out that something you’ve been giving money to for merch or subscriptions or whatever is going to a bad place. but no one is blaming you for that, and if you didn’t know then you didn’t know. but you can always change!!

"why are people boycotting disney?"

similarly, agere is a safe space for so many people, which can be used to justify supporting things that really don't deserve our support, since people want to protect themselves by not finding out why. put bluntly, people knowing that there are problems, but choosing to ignore them, is part of the problem itself. if you feel at all capable of educating yourself, please do. it's so important.

“ok, so what can i do?”

if you’ve decided to join the boycott, that’s wonderful!! all that is being asked, is to not spend money on anything from disney. so branded food, toys, a disney+ subscription, stuff like that. if you’re used to doing that a lot, here’s some alternatives!

. :+* get disney toys second hand - they’re pre-loved!! they’ve already started a life with someone, and they’re eager to continue it with a new kid

. :+* pirate shows n movies instead !! this can be a little tricky to figure out, but it’s how i watch pretty much everything hehe, and can be a lot of fun! alternatively, you could just borrow a friend’s subscription or buy dvds second hand if you have a dvd player.

. :+* get merch from independent sellers. this way, you still get brand new things with ur favorite disney characters, but you also get to support independent creators n not support disney the brand !! also, these are often higher quality than official products too, which is like bonus points.

. :+* if you're posting about somethin disney related, add a note that lets people know that you don't support the brand n encourages ppl to find out why for themselves

it’s a tough change to make, but any help is better than no help. if you aren’t sure what i’m talking about, please do your own research. the scale of what’s happening in palestine is huge, and boycott movements like this have been proven to cause real positive change in the past. i won’t get mad at anyone for choosing not to boycott, but it’s important to me that as many people as possible consciously make that choice for themselves, instead of blindly following a company that’s using their money to hurt people.

hearing about terrible things happening is exhausting, regardless of how much you're doing to help. but try to remember that any action is better than nothing, especially with activism, and keep doing whatever you can. <3 take care of yourselves friends !!

Ok, Taskmaster UK tier list. Go

excluding: pre-Series 7 (because it has been ages since i've seen them and i honestly do not remember); Champion of Champions; New Years Treat

(*) indicates the series that i have watched multiple times and/or more recently.

S16*: possibly dictated by recency bias but i genuinely enjoyed this series more than any other i think. it usually takes me a couple of episodes to warm up to the cast but i was immediately sucked in this time. not a single normal person in sight and Sam Campbell is a special brand of insane that i resonate with on a worryingly deep and personal level.

S7*: watching James Acaster get genuinely angry over futile things is one of life's greatest pleasures if you ask me and my god does this series deliver on that front. this cast exists somewhere between found family and deranged Lord of the Flies remake in a way that i find irresistible.

S10: nearly ex aequo with S13 but the fact that this was filmed during the pandemic gives it an underlying hysterical quality that makes it take the cake. the outtakes (especially the "Little Trumper" part) are possibly the hardest i've ever laughed while watching this programme.

S13*: the way the cast interact in the studio really gives this series some extra oomph. i can't quite put my finger on it but the vibe is sort of like Fellowship of the Ring except they all die the second they set foot outside of Rivendell. besides, Greg Davies being genuinely scared of Bridget Christie will never not be hilarious to me.

S11*: very close to S10 and S13 but i have a primal dislike of Lee Mack that means i personally can't fully enjoy these episodes. there are still some excellently cursed moments (e.g., "absolute casserole") to be enjoyed. i had a weird crush on Mike Wozniak for months after watching this. it was humiliating but it bumps it up in the ranking.

S9: i've only watched it once back when it aired and maybe it would rank higher if i did watch it again. Ed Gamble's actual visceral rage at David Baddiel during that one studio task is legendary, i wish we got more of that. unfortunately i can't remember much else.

S14: as deducible from this list one of my favourite Taskmaster tropes is Contestant Who Desperately Wants to Do Well being teamed up and hindered by Inept Contestant(s) and the Dara O'Briain - Fern Brady - John Kearns partnership is a shining example of that. ranks low(er) only because i feel like the tasks themselves weren't terribly memorable.

S12: similarly to S9, i feel like i need to revisit this one to form fair judgment but i don't think i ever really clicked with the cast. i liked the contestants individually but perhaps their interaction was hampered by the social distancing measures. i remember it was enjoyable but that's about it.

S8: another example of one cast member souring the overall experience for me. i didn't love Lou Sanders in this and i just can't be objective about it. Joe Thomas had some good moments i think.

S15: even though it's the second most recent series i can't remember much from it. nothing against the contestants but unfortunately i think something did not work and the comparison to S16 makes it look even more lacklustre in hindsight.

Witch Wanted has an ambiguous ending which can be read as angsty depending on how the reader interprets it. Personally I take the happy ending but either way the purpose of it is more about choosing to love each other through any challenge, however it ends up.

7. whats the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All the rest haha. I think Blaine Anderson vs Valentine's Day is the most straightforwardly light hearted fic. Smart With Math has the best progression. And No Take Backs is the most cathartic and hopeful.

8. do you get hate on fics?

No. I've had people disagree with some stuff like writing Kurt Hummel as a Slut in Spinning Out (he deserved a slut phase ok). Personally I always think the point of fiction is exploring other avenues for the characters but I don't mind if people disagree with that.

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

Yes and as to what kind... The kind where sex happens?? Not sure haha. I guess I tend to write bottom Blaine with slightly subby undertones but y'know I've also written possessive top!Blaine and wall sex and soft sex with a lot of ~feelings~ so I'll try anything really as long as it doesn't squick me.

I also tend towards writing sex in a way that I think fits the fanfic mold rather than how I feel it strictly exists in reality. I don't think there's anything wrong with that though. The mold is good.

10. do you write crossovers? whats the craziest one youve ever written?

Nah. I'm writing a Red, White, Royal Blue AU currently but it's not a crossover in the sense that characters from the book will appear. I don't currently have any plans to write one but maybe.

I kind of intend to finish all of them even if that's entirely unrealistic. Nothing is formally abandoned that I've written more than a few thousand words for because... sunk cost fallacy.

It's possible the fic I was writing for Back to School may fall by the way side. It was competing choir directors with a lot of dumb rivalry and banter which I do really enjoy but I'm struggling to structure the story.

Dialogue, humour and smut. At least comfort in writing those things - it's hard to judge the quality of your own work objectively.

Exposition, capturing any emotion other than pure stupidity, and getting the guy from one place to another.

Wouldn't do it personally, I would probably indicate a character was speaking another language within the prose rather than writing it out. But to be fair the only other language I speak is BSL which does not translate well to text 😝

I don't mind reading it as long as there's translation somewhere because your boy is lazy and doesn't wanna look stuff up

If we're talking unpublished, it was a Jack/Ianto Torchwood fic. I think Jack was the first canonical queer man I encountered in media but I could be forgetting someone.

Spinning Out is my baby and I the urge to write a sequel grows daily. I love the boys' dynamic in that fic.

But from a pure reread perspective it's probably Blaine Anderson Vs Valentine's Day. It's just light hearted silly fun and still makes me smile.

OK OK...so I was talking about this with a mutual earlier. I feel like when we play, since we're all playing together if someone's opinion is loud a lot of people start to follow and agree especially if they have some shady things to back it up. Like for me it was BIZARRE that TWINS didnt know they were going to be on the show together so immediately im like WAIT WHATS THE DRAMS??! BUT after I replayed it I actually DO trust Amelia 😬 and maybe im so naive for this and this post is going to age terribly tomorrow but im going to tell you why...

Although the twins not even knowing the other was going on LI is super shady to me, Amelia does say BEST. SURPRISE. EVER. (which I think I missed my first playthrough) so she was actually excited to see her sister. If anything it actually seems like MC is lowkey the one not super thrilled to see her sister. Then when the islanders all go to greet her she says that she hopes her and MC will both find someone special. When Ivy starts to cause drama saying Lewie (my current LI so ill use him as the example but insert ur LI here) is Amelia's type if you choose the first option and say he's ur LI, Amelia says she didnt know and is officially backing off. if anything it seems like Amelia is actually super accommodating to her sister. and again when Ivy is being a twat asking if Amelia is gonna step on her sister's toes she backs her sister by saying she actually likes the look of Ryan (ivys LI) and winks at MC. Then when theyre in the room alone together and Amelia again says how happy she is to see MC even if you choose that you wished u were doing this alone she says she wont step on your toes. When Amelia says im sorry for being away a lot if u say you missed her shes super gushy and all they talk about is spending quality twin time together. I think this next line is what also triggered so many of us "Anyway, I’m looking to the future now, the past is the past. Hopefully this can be a fresh start. For both of us." AGAIN WHAT HAPPENED HERE??? ill say this, from the way Amelia and MC are acting I dont think Amelia was the villain...it seems more like MC was 😬 ESPECIALLY if u choose that Amelia is here for the drama and she says MC is the drama queen and shes not here to stir any pots. There's obviously so much to this story we don't know about yet but im not ready to cast Amelia off as the villain just yet. (PS maybe im biased bc I would DIE for a villain MC)

I'm curious about everyone's book-rating system after seeing this on Robin Hobb's Goodreads page:

** I am shocked to find that some people think a 2 star 'I liked it' rating is a bad rating. What? I liked it. I LIKED it! That means I read the whole thing, to the last page, in spite of my life raining comets on me. It's a good book that survives the reading process with me. If a book is so-so, it ends up under the bed somewhere, or maybe under a stinky judo bag in the back of the van. So a 2 star from me means,yes, I liked the book, and I'd loan it to a friend and it went everywhere in my jacket pocket or purse until I finished it. A 3 star means that I've ignored friends to finish it and my sink is full of dirty dishes. A 4 star means I'm probably in trouble with my editor for missing a deadline because I was reading this book. But I want you to know . . . I don't finish books I don't like. There's too many good ones out there waiting to be found.

The way I rate books VASTLY differs from her description above (and I would assume differs from most people's ratings, tbh, because two out of five stars, on anything, generally means 'this was quite shit'). A two or three star rating from me means I have quite a lot of non-flattering opinions on the book, but now I'm wondering how other people rate. My personal breakdown:

One star: Absolute shit. I have only given the book this one lone star because I cannot give it negative stars. So terrible I wouldn't even use it for toilet paper, and while I am staunchly against book banning and burning, this book made me understand why people are compelled to do such things.

Two stars: Generally crap, but the book did have at least one redeeming quality. Maybe the plot and the characters sucked, but the prose was admittedly nice. I would not recommend this book to anyone, but I'm not actively angry that I read it.

Three stars: Eh. It was ok. I'm not sorry I read it, but it was basically just something to stare at while I searched for bigger and better. It had a few things going for it, but the book as a whole was not great, and I probably disliked at least one aspect of it (prose, characterization, etc.). My junk food reading also falls into this category, even if I stayed up late to keep reading. Ken Follett is a good example of this. Ken Follett sucks at writing women, sucks at writing sex scenes, sucks at writing nuanced characters, and the nicest thing I can say about his prose is, "Well, it's there." But he puts in just the right amount of soap opera and history for me to read all his books anyway, even though I basically have nothing nice to say about them. This category is often where you can find my 'this was objectively kind of shitty but I really enjoyed it anyway' books.

Four stars: I liked almost everything about this book. I had trouble setting it down, the characters and plot were compelling, the prose was good, and pretty much everything just worked really well for me. Most of my ratings fall into this category because I often do not finish books in the one-to-three-star range. If a book doesn't really grab me, I usually put it down and move on to another, because YOLO. I have a finite amount of time on this planet to read books, and I'm not going to squander a bunch of it on books I don't enjoy.

Five stars: I am on bended knee. I am asking the author to marry me. I don't even want to have kids, but I want to have their kids. They are so, so sexy for writing a book that feels like it was personally created for me.

Fun fact: it's been 8 months and I'm still overthinking these lines from Two Body Problem.

She vaguely registers a voice, an odd wavering quality to it as if she's listening from under water. A hand drops onto her shoulder and she strikes out, unthinking, her fist colliding with the bony point of someone's elbow as she shoots to her feet.   

"Get off! Don't touch me!" 

"Whoa, hey, lady, I'm just trying to help," the guy says, hands raised in surrender. He's uninjured, thank the Spirits, and she turns her back toward him–but not before noticing how he squints in suspicion.  

So on one hand, Korra's been bending since she was a baby, so wouldn't it make more sense for her to instinctively strike out with an element, rather than a bare fist?

But on the other hand, her relationship to bending has changed a lot by this point in the story. She doesn't want people knowing she's the Avatar, so bending anything other than earth would've been a dead giveaway. And not only is she no longer finding joy in bending like she used to, she's actively using to hurt herself

Back to the first hand. If she's using it to hurt herself, then bending at & injuring somebody who was just trying to help would've added another juicy layer to the self-loathing she was already dealing with, and would've said something about the ways we sometimes unintentionally hurt others when we're in pain ourselves.

Back to hand number two. Within the scope of the fic, that extra layer of self-loathing felt like too much to tackle, especially since I was trying to skate so close to canon and was (still am. tbh.) so inexperienced as a writer. And at the end of the day....I just didn't want her to have to carry that weight on top of everything else.

In conclusion, I need to turn my brain off and smoke a big fat blunt. It is what it is, the fic is done, it's posted, Korra punched a guy's arm instead of frying him, and I just have to live with not knowing whether or not that bothered readers lmao.

So I think....and I'm not sure because—as the above paragraphs so nicely illustrate—I'm terrible at making decisions, but I THINK...Vibrator Fic will be my first one written solely from Asami's POV? We'll see. Originally I wanted to do an alternating POV thing similar to Two Body Problem, but it's been feeling kind of clunky and disjointed. And I think Asami deserves a turn😌

I'm also waiting for a new OC to make herself known to me, hilarious as it would be for Ming to suddenly start working at Future Industries....she WOULD kill it as like a car crash safety tester actually now that I think of it...hmm. Maybe I just do whatever the fuck I want.

Thought #1: The yandere trope would be a really poor fit, same as "he drinks to drink away his sorrows (broodingly)". Add "villain who needs love to reform himself" to that list.

Overall, I'd lean towards more mature characters, who have their stuff (mostly) sorted out. Not the constant-walking-festival-slash-soap-opera-of-a-person, not oh-convince-me-i-am-worthy-of-even-existing-(we-are-going-to-spend-the-next-15-chapters-pretending-i-don't-love-you), and probably not the i-am-your-boss-but-also-a-major-major-BRAT.

I think it'd lean towards characters who'd be ready to settle down, and who'd be competent enough to live on their own. They should know what is important to them, why exactly that is the case, and what compromises they may be willing to make. Generally, I think it'd be better if they had rather balanced approach towards most things -- after all, given all its complexity, it is hard to see the world as purely black-and-white.

+Emotionally mature, with good understanding of the fact that relationships are both give and take. +"Love is a choice that needs to be made daily" sort of mindset - good idea on why effort matters (and that effort doesn't necessarily need to be some grand gestures).

Suggested Characters: Shingen (IkeSen), Sasuke (IkeSen), Comte (IkeVamp), Theo (IkeVamp; maybe? He has some potential), Leon (IkePri; maybe? He does lean towards "boyish" on the charm scale...), Rio (IkePri; maybe? As before).

Not sure when you will see this ask (if is an ask at all) but one person said how the villains are humanized- in the context of how UA is too realistic and thus wouldn't expell Mineta or BK which I agree sort of I will go in details on that- I disagree on thr hunanized villains.

My opinion here. Keep in mind.

The villains in MHA dont have redeeming or positive qualities. I go as far as to say "LoV is found family" is bull. The villains have sad backstories but that's it.

"Poor shig....his backstory is awful" it is. But that's it. He never tried to conect or reach anyone else, not even villains (he sort gain LoV and later the meta army bc hori says so) we never saw him."off" the villain hours if I'm making sense.

The whole "Izu will save shig" is a responsability that falls only on Izu. Same wih Ochako.

They never show any positive quality. Hell, Toga is taking a drug AFO gave her knowing Shig is a meat puppet literally.

Dabi is so beyond saving that...I doubt even death can redeem him. Hell, he doesn't want to be saved or redeem. Hell, does Toga want that too?

As for UA...ok let me talk about Xmen for a hot moment. One thing I hate about Xmen is when they try to make some powers work in a realistic way. "Dude who can control fire would have health problems bc of that" I think the whole point of heroes is seeing them having cool powers and have an escapism...I don't want to read "Jean Grey has brain cancer bc of her power"

Now back to UA...I think UA (aside being a terrible written school) wants to he fantasy and realistic at the same time. Teachers have cool powers...but the students still do exams. It could work...if the intention of the school was clear.

Answer me this: Is Izu learning anything in UA?

I don't think so.

So UA letting BK run free and same to Mineta, while can be realistic (especially as BK is from a rich family) also harm the story. And if UA is to be "realistic" they would have addresed Mineta or BK.

Again my opinion.

I definitely agree that most of the villains aren’t as deep as people make them out to be. They’re kinda just destructive forces. Sure they got their backstories, but they’re pretty standard ones in the grand scheme of things. Now I don’t blame them for not wanting to reach out for help as it is society as a whole who failed them.

Twice and Himiko are the only ones I consider deep. Himiko’s a story about how mental illness (her quirk being the metaphor for it) can twist a person and if shunned rather than helped, they can lose themselves in their impulsive thoughts. Twice, as said by Hawks, is a good person. Out of everyone in the League, he cared the most about them. And that’s why he was willing to die for them. The world never gave him a home, in fact the world was responsible for shattering him even further than his own quirk did. The LoV did, and as such, he was willing to give his life for them because he genuinely cared about them. I will stand by the claim that Twice is MHA’s best written character. How the same author is able to write someone complex like Twice and someone so one dimensional like Katsuki is something that I’ll never understand.

Sorta related, but thing I will ask is does anyone really remember when Tomura and Spinner got close to each other? Cause to me it’s something that kinda came out of nowhere.

5 - Describe their cozy night in.

gosh, okay. they're both people who seem like they appreciate quality time with loved ones, so if they get to steal a cozy night in together during the season they're going to make the most of it. not leaving for anything, no one else allowed in their space. making dinner together, something mostly from scratch but not too hard so they don't fuck it up. lots of chirping and flirting, just having fun with getting to kind of play house for a couple of hours, and then retiring to the den to put on a movie and cuddle, where they will then shift to chirping the movie characters instead of each other. they absolutely never get through the movie before they start making out, but maybe at least make it to the credits before they relocate to the bedroom to have tender fucknasty sex. (you didn't specify the HAW version of them but this is definitely inspired by that, although it's kind of how i envision any established relationship cozy night in for them.)

i don't think leon could hide an emotion if his life was on the line. not to make it about HAW again but it's a whole thing in that where matthew's like "ugh leon is so hard to read" and it's like no buddy you're just stupid. i think that leon would sometimes like to be able to hide when he's upset but knows he's terrible at it. matthew is better at it, but his facade only really works on people who don't know him well, so it won't take leon long to learn to see through it. i can for sure envision an "if you're pissed just tell me why you're pissed" "i'm not pissed!" "you're obviously pissed!!" fight between them, lmao.

absolutely, are you kidding? matthew will get in a fight to defend anyone's honor. he loves to defend honor. would love to read something where someone notices the weird pattern of him picking fights with guys who coincidentally have taken a run at draisaitl recently. leon by his own admission does not fight and does not want to fight, and honestly i think he'd find the idea of defending matthew's honor kind of funny, but i can definitely see him getting rough with a guy if he actually injured matthew. just throwing a couple of elbows, getting a little nutshot in when the ref's not looking. not to make it about HAW again but there's that bit on nye where leon's like, ok who punched you, and matthew's like idk someone on the stars, and then later when matthew's watching the stars/oilers game with johnny and monny leon is just being the worst person on the planet to every dallas player on the ice, sorry to them. anyway, i think whichever of them has wounds, the other will tend to them.

I think it was so far from 'nothing but sorrows'. Wouldn't it be more shocking, actually, to see him in moments of joy and revelry, at 12? How would you marry that kind of Amane, with the one you saw at 13? How can any of that make sense? It would be easier to grasp if he was always enduring torture. We saw so many little blips of the boys as children... so happy together! Amane's problem couldn't have been that his life was so terrible, exactly. Amane's problems could always be instead that something is very special to him, and he wants it to stay that way....

but ah, what's so interesting about this to me, is Nene-chan reaching the same conclusion Amane is often reaching-- his rationale behind keeping her in the dark, hiding secrets from her...

... wishing you could preserve someone's innocence, or cluelessness, their happiness... it's really all Amane's wanted to do for Nene, and what she's continuously fought against.

I think Nene-chan is really growing haha, after the 'Far Shore', 'Red House', she's grasping the kind of intensity she was being protected from... what it feels like to want to protect someone's peace and happiness.... to wish they didn't have to see ugliness, didn't need to be dragged into it all...

it makes me pleased to directly see Minamoto methods unable to effect the crane as much as they can't effect tsueshiro'd Hanako... between being a yorishiro, and the tsueshiro, there's a sense that the Minamoto could not do very much to/about Tsukasa when it comes down to it .... ? The yorishiro are an aspect of a God... it takes a kannagi to do anything towards them. I'm glad the beads did absolutely nothing to hold or bind it. and I'm glad Teru can detect what it is via how it was able to damage him and unable to be restrained..... nice and useless~

The Minamoto really are suspiciously aligned, since the beads /can/ bind Kou....

I have spent SO LONG, as my husband can attest, questioning these utterly inscrutable images from VOLUME 16 TIMES (?????) of seemingly an AU where there is a. hot boy pop-up juice stand. I've looked at the images like-- "what on earth is the context where it's like a temporary pop-up in a ?? park ??? but we're wearing ??? suits ???? ? ? ? ????"

there are too many illustrations of this thing, and never has there been any context. It like happens with AUs, but I feel like I could make sense of them occasionally.....

even if this is ? a concept ? for school festivals ? in any sense, I'm relieved Sakura herself also has no idea what the hell this is ... I have always looked at these images like... "...this isn't some kind of period AU because Nene-chan is in normal modern clothes...." but what is with these tweed colorful suits ... it looks so busted. NOt what I find sexy at all. They look , so bad. And I'm like "who wants to see a SHOTA like this..."

anyway if Natsuhiko proceeds to look like this later I'll finally, lay my soul to rest, I guess. Hot Boy Juice Stand.... Aida, Iro, which of you do I blame this on.... I wonder if iro was working on the manuscript for this chapter back when vol16 was being published or something, so Aida just wanted to get to draw the concept more whimsically for fun... musta been on the brain.....

I'm thrilled with whoever gets whatever, but I hope Nene-chan can surprise everyone, somehow~~ I'm never quite sure how 'on the same page' the Broadcast Club truly is... or if Tsukasa has his own ultimate agenda... as we get into the last couple of mysteries, it'll have to interfere at last....

sigh.... I wonder if the key she took from Amane will finally come back into play... if only it was a key pertaining to that secretive place, to repair the clock. Or something....
