I hate to be all whingy like this again and I swear I'll try to stop sharing my thoughts on this soon but PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one who's noticed that quite often, a pretty big number of (NOT ALL) jily fans get really angry about Lily being hated and shat on by Jegulus fans but I NEVER see Jegulus fans hating on Lily/jily?? I mean I'm constantly hit with jily fans yelling about how we all hate women and hate that they're canon and erase Lily but I can name probably 1 time I've seen a Jegulus fan hate on Lily and they were an awful person outside of that too. I think they probably haven't actually seen any Jegulus content (especially past the first little layer of it) and just assume that we all hate Lily and jily but we DON'T. And it's really annoying be she obviously people see that and go 'oh my god this is awful' and spread it and then everyone thinks we're horrible and then they spread it and suddenly it's this big epidemic of 'oh my god Jegulus haters all hate Lily and think she's an incubator' when I've never seen any examples of that past like those few weirdos in 2022.

Like I used to love both ships but jily fans have just been getting more and more angry and toxic and saying that I must hate Lily and it's totally pushing me away from liking them anymore bc I don't get why we're being called misogynists and toxic when they're yelling about things almost all of us haven't done? I'm sure there are some but it's really such a minority (and I'm pretty sure most of them are 12 year olds anyway).

Also a little off topic but the 'the series wouldn't exist without jily' is such a weird argument to me too bc I literally never denied that? I never denied that they're canon and I never said that the fandom would exist without them, I just don't care about what's canon. Like I know that if I make Lily a lesbian and decide that she doesn't marry James, Harry wouldn't exist, but I don't really care about the lightning era anyway so I don't get why it's such a common argument.

Sometimes it IS misogyny and we should call that out, but not ALWAYS.

Anyway that's all, it's just getting on my nerves so much lately.

You know what? I will never stop being angry about the way the wider one piece fandom treats Yamato. The way there's a fucking debate about whether he's a man or a woman and the way people will use she/her pronouns for him IN SPITE OF the fact canon NEVER does that.

(and I say "Yamato uses he/him pronouns" mainly because I haven't gotten to his full story in the anime yet, and as I understand it we don't know if he identifies as a trans man or a woman who uses he/him pronouns)

I know people who are in the exact same position as Yamato. One of my IRLs uses he/they pronouns and presents femme. I do not know if this is because he wants to physically transition but can't or if they have no desire to physically transition or if he considers himself a girl but doesn't use she/her pronouns. Someday I may find out, but until I do am I supposed to not use their pronouns? How could I call him my friend, someone I love very much, if I didn't?

Hell, I've been Yamato. I've grown my hair out because of depression and had my tits out cause binding would be too uncomfortable. I look like Yamato when I have my boobs out (except i'm fucking tiny but shhh).

So yeah, I feel personally attacked when someone uses she/her pronouns for him. Because I've been him and I know people like him. And one of my biggest dysphoria triggers is having my identity be presented to someone, and then rejected. So of course it would hurt to see someone who passes as well as I feel I do, to see a guy who confidently proclaims his identity to the world regardless of his appearance, and to also see half the fandom reject that identity. It hurts more than getting misgendered in real life does, because at least in real life people have the excuse of not knowing.

So yeah. I'm gonna be pissed off every time a Youtube commenter calls him "she" or when redditors try to "clarify" his gender by talking about "her" being "confused." Because at BEST they saw tits and previous she/her pronouns and didn't read the subtitles any further. At worst, they read the subtitles, and decided that since Yamato was BORN a woman then NATURALLY it's okay to use she/her pronouns because she's just "confused" and "not really trans" as if THAT MAKES IT ANY FUCKING BETTER. AS IF ONE OF THE BIGGEST TRANSPHOBIAS TRANS MEN FACE IS NOT THE IDEA THAT WE ARE "NOT REALLY TRANS." Of course i'm gonna be pissed off because I do not deal with my dysphoria every single fucking day only to see people reject Yamato because they don't talk to enough trans people in their everyday lives to realize that it doesn't fucking matter if someone's a trans man using he/him pronouns or a cis woman using he/him pronouns, you use the goddamn he/him pronouns.

They/Them is used for someone whose gender is unknown and since Dante’s gender is not explicitly stated (it’s not said in canon that they’re nonbinary) using They/Them is appropriate, but not required. Even if a character who knew Dante before the amnesia uses They/Them, it is not enough evidence to say Dante is nonbinary. They could also not know Dante’s gender. There’s no reason to be mad and mean about it.

Until the game decides to give them something else, they are they/them and that is required since that's what the game exclusively uses. If they get their memory back and they decide to use different pronouns then, that's fine and I'll adjust accordingly.

Having amnesia doesn't mean that the pronouns they use while having amnesia aren't valid as their current pronouns.

As for why I'm starting to get mean about it? Its not like this is the first game where it's happened. People LOVE to find reasons to dismiss the pronouns of a they/them character. not even the first time in Project Moon- Go read Wonderlab, its free. Some characters in that openly look fem, but also use They/them, and they don't have amnesia- that is their choice- Clearly PM can and will do it (I believe some Runia characters do as well but I'm not sure which ones off of the top of my head)

I'm MEAN about it because if I let it happen now? in this game? That only gives people who want to dismiss they/them characters more leeway to do so in the future- it only gives more excuses.

Honestly? If people come up with good intentions or are just confused, and then learn to change their ways? that's fine. I'll welcome them with open arms- people are allowed to make mistakes, especially just getting into a game- but its the people who OPENLY fight against it that I get mad at.

TLDR: I don't care atm what they were before losing their memories, they currently use they/them exclusively, every character who knows them uses it. Even Faust, who has made it pretty clear, or at least as clear as Faust makes ANYTHING, that she knew who they used to be ALSO uses they/them, making the "unknown gender" bit invalid. Their pronouns are they/them until they decide for themselves otherwise- hope that helps.

I wish AO3 had a tag system for primary characters and secondary characters. Just since I'll look for fics staring Character A so I'll look through A's tags, but what I actually get are Character B centered fics with A playing a secondary to just being mentioned role. Well, just exclude B then. Simple right? Except that A and B are besties. I want to be able to see friendship fics with them but with A as the center focus. I don't mind B being there, but I want B in a more secondary role.

Or there will be those fics that seem like they will focus on a group of characters from the description so its like yes, I'll get my A fix while their sharing the stage with the others (B, C, D, etc) but then reading it it turns out that it really is just a B fic again. Which might be more frustrating then the other case.

Its the one thing that I miss from FanFiction.net. Since they limited how many characters you could tag. I think it was like 4 characters that you could tag a fic as being about. So, if there were multiple characters you actually had to think about who the leads of the fic were. It lead to a greater chance that the story was actually about A then not.
