Transfer (BTH)
***
Previous Part – Next Part
First part
This post is part of the Bad Things Happen series.
***
I was planning to write this a little while later but since I’ve understood that many people were very fond of this series (especially on Tumblr) I’ve decided to prioritize that one instead.
If you have not yet seen the post entitled Target Syndrome, I advise you to go read it as it will enable you to understand some parts of this one-shot that could seem confusing otherwise.
Enjoy your reading once again!
***
Warnings: Implied past self-harm (not specified which)
Synopsis: “It won’t be of any problem.” A pause. “I... apologize about not being able to prevent this.” If he was initially talking to Randy, he was now looking at Hacker. He had never taken the time to apologize before, even if he felt like it was needed.
They stayed like that for a few seconds, looking each other in the eyes.
“...” Hacker eventually turned away. “You are not at fault.”
***
When Finch pushed the door to Hacker’s room open, he was met with three pairs of eyes looking at him. The first had two hazy dark blue irises blinking at him, barely processing his presence while the other two, narrowed, bright red and alert, snapped toward him.
He tilted his head down to show he was here in peace, resulting in Bobby and Randy relaxing.
“Hello.” He eventually said, the greeting soon shot back to him. “I’m glad that everything seems to be going well, have you had the time to talk?”
“Hacks keeps zoning out.” Bobby admitted, glancing worryingly at said man before turning his attention back to Finch. “But yeah, we were pretty much done with the main topics.”
“You seem to have something on your mind, son. Is there something you want to tell us?” Randy interjected, startling Finch. Was it that obvious or did Randy just have a knack for that sort of thing? He did remember Hacker mentioning an ‘uncanny accuracy’ when it came to guessing whether he or Bobby had something to say to him.
“I just thought you would want to be informed of Hacker’s transfer.” As expected, that seemed to pique their interest. Even Hacker seemed to come back to focus, saying nothing but staring at Finch with an interested look, nonetheless. Finch brushed off the vague weird feeling he got as he realized he had never really heard the other being so silent.
“Where is he going to go? And when?” Randy asked immediately, Bobby adding that they better make sure nothing happens this time, a scary expression displayed on his face.
Hacker motioned for the two to calm down. “He didn’t even say anything yet, chill out.” Bobby turned to him, scratching his neck as he muttered an apology.
“It’s fine, I understand the concern.” Finch reassured, clearing his throat. “He should be moving as soon as he recovers to... erm...” As he was faced with the expectant look of the three others, Finch found himself thinking on how in the world he was supposed to say it without the whole dilemma sounding strange.
Finally giving up on it, he finally confessed that Hacker would be moved to his house.
Silence ensued, in which Bobby and Randy both turned to Hacker with the same pointed and warning look. Said man deadpanned at them.
“I can hardly make a normal conversation; do you think I have the capacity to start screwing around?” He hissed, irritated as he looked away. Finch was unsure whether he should see that as good news or unwelcome news.
“In our defense, you totally would.” Bobby retorted; his arms crossed around his chest.
“... Well, yeah I would but I am really not in the mood.” Randy just gave him pats him on the head, the younger man leaning into it.
“Could I trouble you to update us on Hacker’s condition once in a while?” Randy asked, choosing to ignore the conversation his two kids were having next to him. “I know you would be unlikely to do anything stupid, but I cannot help but worry still.”
“It won’t be of any problem.” A pause. “I... apologize about not being able to prevent this.” If he was initially talking to Randy, he was now looking at Hacker. He had never taken the time to apologize before, even if he felt like it was needed.
They stayed like that for a few seconds, looking each other in the eyes.
“...” Hacker eventually turned away. “You are not at fault.”
Finch was about to reply before Hacker started letting out painful noises, each one louder than the other. Bobby reached for his shoulder in concern, tapping it lightly as he asked him what the problem was. Randy soon joined him but neither of them received a response as Hacker just kept on cowering on himself.
Eventually though, he did manage to let out that it hurt, bad.
The rest of the conversation was lost as Finch had run out into the hallway, in search of an available doctor.
***
The medical team that had hurried into the room once they were informed of what was happening soon came out, whispering among themselves. Ignoring that part for now, Finch approached them.
“How is he now?” The doctor he was speaking to bowed to him once he recognized him before straightening back up.
“We have managed to stabilize him.” He answered, looking back into the room. “Although... He’s the prisoner who is due to be transferred soon, right?” Finch nodded, noting that Randy and Bobby had started listening to the conversation.
“We have discovered something that you would probably want to know.” Finch frowned, what did that look on their faces mean?
“Proceed.” He encouraged.
“Have you ever heard of the disease called ‘Target Syndrome’?” At these words, if Bobby tilted his head on the side with a confused look, Randy’s reaction was much more aggressive as he froze, horror on his facial features.
Not him too, please.
Finch’s frown deepened but he stayed calm as of now. “I have yes, are you sure about this information? A wrong diagnosis of a disease like that...”
The doctor waved his worry away with the back of his hand. “I am aware but there is no doubt about that, we have made a soul screening earlier and these results do not lie. Nothing but the Target Syndrome would cause a soul to look this way.”
“At which stage is he?” Randy suddenly interrupted, the doctor blinking as his widened eyes stared up at the man. How he managed to not see the giant named Randy was an enigma.
“I presume you are close to the patient?” After the confirmation, he seemed to think about it a bit more. “I should not tell you that information but since the situation is this peculiar, I’ll make an exception today. He’s somewhere between Stage 2 and Stage 3, though he is closer to Stage 3 than he is Stage 2.”
Finch and Randy both paled at that, turning Bobby’s confusion into even more concern.
His question answered, the medic turned back to Finch. “We have some leads as to the dosage of medications needed to be prescribed but since we still have our doubts about this method of recovery, we would like to favor the more... ‘casual method’ of recovery if possible. I am unaware of your opinion on this prisoner, nor do I care about what crimes have led him to be put in a cell, I am simply asking you to make sure he would at least be comfortable in this new location.”
He then glanced at Bobby and Randy; the former latched on to the latter’s arm as he continuously asked what that really meant about Hacker. “This does imply to make sure these three will be able to talk as often as possible. I am aware that some restrictions should be put in place but in order to revert to an earlier stage, contact with loved ones is mandatory.” A pause.
“If you are unwilling to do it for his health, do keep in mind that what you will be doing would be another milestone reaching toward the full comprehension of this awful disease that has led many to die in horrific conditions.” Finch nodded, not interrupting in fear of missing out on some information. After witnessing it firsthand, it was hard not to think of how horrible dying from this disease was.
He still wished he could have done something, anything, to help him.
“Is there anything else I should be wary of?” If he was going to do it, he wanted to make sure he would do it well. Maybe this time, he would be able to prevent the death of another friend.
“... You should keep anything that could be harmful to him out of reach, especially when he already has a history regarding such incidents.”
Finch’s eyes narrowed. “Understood.”
The doctor, after some more recommendations, finally left.
***
“Strangely, I’m not too surprised about your living room looking so... bland.” Finch frowned as he let his pupils travel the room. He had no idea what Hacker was talking about, his living room looked fine to him.
“Can we focus on more important matters?” He sighed as Hacker went to sit on one of his couches. Even if there was a slight limp in his footsteps, it was still relieving to see that he regained his ability to support himself enough to walk around. “How are you feeling?”
Hacker scoffed at the question. “What happened to the whole ‘I don’t talk to criminals’ attitude? Don’t tell me you are growing soft on me now of all times.”
That was something else Finch noted: his change of behavior. He sounded so much more bitter now.
“I am not. Is it that strange for me to inquire about your well-being?” The other glanced at him as he asked that, in search of any sign of mockery in Finch’s eyes. When he didn’t see any, he simply turned away from him.
“... I don’t know.” He shook his head, why was he acting like that now?
“Anyway,” Finch changed the subject, pointing at the staircase behind him. “Those stairs lead to the bedrooms. The first door on the right is a bathroom but the rest is free to use. You can pick any room you like; it doesn’t really matter to me.”
Hacker raised an eyebrow. “What about your bedroom?” Finch shrugged.
“I mostly just crash on the couch when I’m tired, so I don’t really have an assigned room.” The other gave him a skeptical look but did not comment further. “And over there--” He pointed toward a corridor. “--You can find the kitchen and another bigger bathroom. You are free to use anything in the kitchen as you would like and if you think you may be lacking in something, you can ask for it anytime.”
He nodded again, before pointing toward a computer left in the corner of the room. “What about this thing?”
“I was about to mention it. You can use it.” If Hacker looked numb before, the look of pure shock replaced it immediately.
“What? You’re not joking, are you?” Finch raised an eyebrow.
“When am I ever joking?” He retorted.
“Good point.” He looked happier than he did a few seconds ago, that was surely a good sign. He walked over to the other and handed him a little package.
Confused, Hacker took it and shot him a questioning glance. Finch’s only response was to tell him to open it. He did, not without shooting him a wary glance before his eyes lit up at the contents of said package.
“Is that...?”
“Your phone, yes.” Finch confirmed. “You are free to call Randy, Bobby and Blue as you please, though do keep in mind that I would be able to hear your conversation. I’ve also saved my number on your device, don’t hesitate to call me if you ever need it.”
“... That sounds too good to be true.” Hacker stated. “Are you sure there’s no catch? Like, I’m not going to be beheaded next week, right?” The combination of his voice cracking and the fear in his eyes earned him a horrified look from the officer.
“Of course not!” He exclaimed. “Nothing is going to happen to you, okay? You’re safe here.”
“...”
“I swear.” He quickly added, earning a sigh of relief.
“Okay... I trust you.” He slumped over the couch, his eyes beginning to droop. “Do you mind if I go take a nap? This whole transfer thing had my head spinning.”
“Not at all, go ahead.”
As Hacker closed his eyes, he vaguely remembered being wrapped in a blanket.

West x Icterid?
*demonic laughter*
Tumblr media
Welcome to my AskBox Elem! I know youve asked before but i didnt expect you to ask about west and icterid when we both havent introduced West yet lmao
West is a shared character of elem and mine. But hes mostly Elems character. Icterid is mine. They are basically a duo.
West has a little brother and Elem says hes a savage but i dont think we've decided on a name yet
Little backstory for newcomers, Icterid is a paintedwings/Fink(FinchxInk) shipchild with West as a Bluecode/Bluetooth(HackerxBlue).
Theres more shipkids of cracked ships we made but im waiting to figure out two of the kids designs and Elem draws and explains the other one.
Just so you know, the shipkids I speak of, these are the ships: swrrormare , lustxdream(still thinking of the name, maybe Cupidsarrow?), Bluetooth/Bluecode and lastly Fink/Paintedwings.
These as mentioned are bluetooth and paintedwings so heres west and icterid!
West is an obsessed bastard and icterid ends up injuring him quite a bit but he always comds running back like the lovestruck bitch he is(no offense)
Icterid and Him ended up getting together but before that, the name Nelson is one of two twins from swrrormare. Nelson and Icterid used to be partnees but Nelson would always ditch the other and leave him alone.
One scene i wrote and talked about with Elem was basically explaining about Icterid being sickly on his birthday and he expected Nelson to keep his word. Visiting and comforting him, but that doesnt end up happening and he finds a picture on instagram of the guy with (Twin 2) at the bar quite a few blocks away. Icterid acted up and then ended up getting a message from Finch saying happy birthday and has a present for him. Now West plays a major part becauss he got Icterid the gift and gave it to Finch to give to Icterid.
Just a bit a building and boom! Nelson and Icterids relationship in a nutshell, then with West and Icterid there relationship slowly builds.
Aswell as, if you guys want me to write a Ao3 story on this entire group i can do it. Just let me know!

What are some facts and backstories of the other bloodlust dreamswap characters(blue, ink, cross, error, Randy, bobby, hacker, finch, Ani, Xchara)
(X chara just doesn’t exist, well, not relevant to the story)
Blue/Smog, he still has the same old story, abusive brother blah blah blah! Now his brother haunts him
Ink/Acrylic.. same thing, just hates everything and smokes fat blunts time to time, lol, 24/7
Cross/Hematite remains the same just really beaten from vulture
Error remains the same.. they just become blind because their eyeballs plopped out
Randy/Headshot Bobby/Claw and hacker/Lancet all have the same stories! They just are very aware of what’s going on, but they are really one of the only healthy ones if I say so myself. (Randy just had an accident with his head, we’ll get into that another time.
Finch/Thrush again same story, just very aware of what the town and vulture are like.
Ani/Phantasm uhh, Their story will be a puzzle, so you need to find out ;)

Right, so my friend and I- Right, me and my friend really like shipping and roleplaying just random ships that we think would work, I sent an image of Finch and Hacker to them because uhm.. I kind of think Finch is hot don't judge please. They were like 'Damn Finch and Ink' because for some reason Hacker and Ink look a bit similar, they have floofy hair, and I corrected them, but then they suddenly were like 'But Finch and Ink tho' So what did I do? I decided to go on Tumblr, thinking to myself 'The UTMV fandom is crazy, of course someone made a comment on it, RIGHT??' Well, I searched it up on Kai's blog. Oh, nothing. That's fine, I'll just search Tumblr in general. Nothing. Just nothing. Nobody has CONSIDERED IT- So, what would be your opinion, I feel like they would have a lot in common, but also different at the same time. Finch x Ink. Would it work???
To begin with, Ink is Finch's personal irritant Because one wants to do everything well, and the other doesn't care what he wants, and Finch is just tired of Ink acting like a jerk.
Buuut there are arts with this ship in the "Lofter" social network and I approve of ALL ships in Dreamswap

According to plan (BTH)
***
Previous part — next part
First part
This post is part of the Bad Things Happen series.
***
Warnings: Implied torture (Don’t mess with Randy’s kids)
Synopsis: “Are ‘they’ in there?” The terrifying version of Randy asked, his voice a low growl that seemed to echo at the end of his words. Quite the nightmare fuel. Finch, however, did not let that get to him and nodded.
Before he could say anything else, Randy turned toward Bobby. “Son, don’t give them a hard time.” His tone softened just ever so slightly, but that could just be Finch’s imagination. “You go talk to Hacker first, I’ll join you two soon, okay?”
***
Finch bowed down after entering the office, only straightening up when Dream told him to. “You wanted to see me, my Lord?” The latter nodded, this time surprisingly alone.
Although Finch had little doubt that Blue somehow had his eyes on them.
He always did.
“Yes, I’m planning to move the recent prisoners to the abandoned warehouse.” He explained, letting go of his pen after having held onto it far longer than a human hand was supposed to. “I need someone to keep an eye on them in case they have the foolishness to try and escape. Would you mind taking that role?”
Finch shook his head. “Not at all, it’s an honor for you to entrust me this task.”
Dream smiled. “Reliable as always, thank you for your service, Finch. I will send someone to switch with you this evening, you are dismissed.”
He bowed in respect before making a bee line for the door.
He opened it and came face to face (well, that was a bit of stretch, he was taller than him by a few inches) with Blue himself, almost slamming the door on his face by accident.
Of course, when he noticed that he freaked out. “My most sincere apologies, are you alright? Did I hurt you?”
Blue laughed before he stepped back out of harm’s way. “I am yes, there is no need to apologize. Although you have made your move right on time, be sure to check your texts later!” Before Finch had the time to answer, Blue skipped away inside Dream’s office.
“Angel boooy” He vaguely shouted in a sing-song voice, the last thing Finch saw before the door closed being Dream burying his face in his hands, slightly red.
He was not even going to bother questioning why or how Blue had his number, he did not need another headache.
He walked away, deciding to ignore whatever plans of mischief the man had made until he could not ignore it anymore. Besides, he had more important things to think about. Such as work.
***
“Do you always have to greet me this way?” Dream asked, his face still buried in his hands. Only this time, he had his boyfriend’s arms draped over his shoulders and locking him into a hug.
“Of course!” He giggled, gently yanking one of his hands down. “We both know you’ve grown accustomed to this nickname anyway, I would even dare say that you like it.”
Dream grumbled before he let his other hand fall onto his lap. “I do not. I am not an angel.”
“Oh, would you prefer a devil then? I mean, I guess that would not be too far off either. The way you make me feel is nothing short of devilish, I am sure even the demon of Lust is impressed.” He winked and Dream started to question why he fell for him in the first place.
He shook his head. “Do you never get tired of flirting with me? We are already together, there is no need for you to keep seducing me.” He turned to look at Blue and by the way a smirk started to spread across his lips, Dream knew that he was about to bitterly regret saying it.
“No, I do not.” he whispered, before moving and spinning Dream’s chair around so the latter would be facing him. His fingers hooked themselves on his chin and he tipped his head upward this way, forcing Dream to look at him in the eye. “You know how greedy I can be when it comes to you, I don’t think I’ll ever have quite enough.”
Dream flushed before he escaped from Blue’s piercing gaze, returning to his paperwork in the hope that it will be enough to wash away the embarrassment from his face.
Blue merely smiled, all according to plan. “Anyway, as much as it delights me to see you like this, it wasn’t what I came here for.”
Dream arched an eyebrow as he turned back to look at him. “Oh, did you need my assistance for anything?”
“No, it’s more like you needed to be reminded of an issue.” Dream looked confused for a moment, racking his brain over any conflict he might have overlooked while working on other things.
Nothing matched his definition of a problem.
“I’m not quite sure what you may be referring to.” Blue chuckled.
“Well, you have cornered the criminals, but what will you do with Hacker? Just returning him to the dungeons once he recovered might be too utopic, wouldn’t you think?” Dream opened his mouth to object, but no sound came out of him.
Suddenly, he collapsed on top of his desk. “Darn it.”
***
A few hours later, when Finch had just gotten to the warehouse, his phone beeped, signaling a new text had been sent to him. He flinched at first before frowning and taking it out to see who it might have been.
An unknown number.
“Randy and Bobby will arrive shortly, welcome them warmly!” Oh right, Blue did say that he would send him a text earlier. Though, he did wonder what that last part was supposed to mean.
That is when his ears started picking up... oddly loud stomps. He looked up from his phone slightly confused and almost dropped the device on the ground when he noticed a 6’6 beast with giant and sharp as knives claws slowly approaching, eyes filled with the blackness of hatred, sharp red slits as pupils.
If not for his blond hair and the familiar green blouse, Finch must have mistaken the man for a demon. He did now understand why he was wanted.
In front of him, a little boy no taller than 5’4 was quietly walking toward him, arms crossed and a nervous frown. Both of them finally came to a stop in front of Finch, Bobby twiddling his thumbs a bit from nervousness.
“Are ‘they’ in there?” The terrifying version of Randy asked, his voice a low growl that seemed to echo at the end of his words.
Bobby nodded and then Randy phased through the wall with a trail of dark red mist behind him under Finch’s bewildered gaze. Freaked out screams came from within the warehouse as the wound of heavy footsteps just grew louder, the impact becoming stronger until those from outside the building could feel the ground under them vibrate ever so slightly.
Just as Finch was about to attempt to stop Randy from drenching the warehouse in a bloodbath of guts and gore, Blue suddenly crept up from seemingly nowhere almost ending up with Finch’s fist in his face again.
When will this man learn not to spook people out of their skin?
“Hey Finch, long time no see!” Blue smiled, ignoring the screams of terror and agony that escaped the confines of the warehouse. Torture probably was too weak of a word to describe the kind of atrocity Randy was doing in there.
Best to make a mental note not to make the man mad.
He deadpanned as he crossed his arms around his chest. “We spoke this morning.”
“But that encounter was so short, it doesn’t count!” Blue argued before a small cough came from the third party. Their eyes fell on an awkward Bobby, who seemed to feel uneasy by staying there... or perhaps it was because of the loud clatter within the walls that was soon followed by a wail of rage from his father.
“Can we go see Hacker already?” Bobby frowned. “I don’t want to stay here.”
“What a roundabout way to say that you’re worried about him.” Blue remarked, an amused smirk on his lips. “But you do have a point, we are wasting time. Are you going to come with us, Finch?”
The latter shook his head. “I was stationed there; I can’t just walk away from my duty like this.”
Blue shrugged. “Your loss. Alright, Bobby, come with me.”
The teenager had been unusually quiet and obedient this whole time. He nodded, trailing after the man with the scarf not without turning back and eyeing the warehouse.
***
“Wow, you look like shit.” Hacker opened his eyes at the sentence, eyebrow raised. Even with his blurry vision, he would recognize that mass of messy hair stuck to a small head from anywhere. He sighed.
“And you’re as disrespectful as ever, Bobby.” The latter scoffed; his worry hidden behind a fake layer of annoyance. If Hacker were not pretty much blinded by his blurry vision, he probably would have noticed the slight glint of concern in Bobby’s eyes.
One thing for sure, Blue noticed it.
“How the fuck do you always gets yourself into those kinds of situations anyway?” Hacker attempted to roll his eyes but that only had the effect of making him even dizzier than he was seconds prior. ‘No rolling eyes’ rule has been implemented into his memory.
“What can I say? Danger finds me really hot.” He attempted to laugh but it only came out as a pathetic fit of coughing. Bobby’s façade faded as he finally allowed his facial expression to fit his current emotions.
“Are you okay?” Hacker’s smile did little to relieve him.
“I’ll live.”
***
His subordinate arrived a few minutes later, eyes wary as they eyed the warehouse’s walls where terribly breathy screams echoed within. “Uh, sir? Is... everything okay in there?”
“Yes. Keep guard and do not let anyone near this area. The only person you are allowed to let out of this place is the blond man in a green blouse that will come out shortly. Do you understand?” Finch crossed his arms as they nodded, still looking quite worried.
“Good, I’ll be taking my leave then.” Finch would have normally felt bad about leaving without much of an explanation, but he was honestly exhausted and quite eager to get away from all the noises.
Besides, he had more important things to do.
***
“You wish to know what we will be doing with Hacker after he’s discharged?” Finch nodded as Dream scratched his chin in thought, Blue already mentioned the subject before but since that time, he still did not really produce anything.
“If it would not bother you to tell me, yes. I wish to make early preparations if he were to go back to the dungeons.” He explained, keeping his tone calm. Personally, he thought that sending him back to the cells would be an awful idea but if it were what his lord wanted, then he would not oppose him.
“This situation is quite a complex one, so I have not come up with a concrete course of action yet. Though, I do know that a transfer is necessary, we cannot keep him in the dungeons forever, that would just make conflict arise.”
As he spoke these words, his earlier conversation with Blue came to head.
“So, the most practical solution would be to have him kept in another place where you could monitor. You cannot exactly release him from prison completely, yet you also cannot have him stay in the dungeons. What do you say?” Dream looked away.
“... I’ll mull it over later.”
Unknown to him, it seems like Blue has conversed about the topic with Finch too.
“Being guarded by someone he is familiar with is bound to make him feel more at ease than not. Besides, I do not think an environment like a regular prison would either, it is bound to make him relive some kind of bad memory at some point.” Finch’s narrowed his eyes to him.
“And why are you telling me this?” He could not be trusted.
He smiled. “It could come in handy.”
“...” Finch looked away. “Maybe he could stay in my house.”
It was only when Dream let out a bewildered ‘what?’ that Finch realized that he had said that aloud. He cursed inwardly.
But now that he had introduced the solution on the table, he might as well commit to it before he made a complete fool of himself.
He could not allow that, especially not in front of Dream.
“I don’t use it most of the time and I have cameras placed all over the place, it would be easy to monitor him.” He explained, taking a brief pause to sort out his thoughts. “Since no other criminal or officer would be posted there, it might lessen the chance of him being sabotaged again too. Of course, if you wish to, I could always make some arrangements so that you may also be able to watch--”
Dream held up his hand, Finch closed his mouth. “There is no need to say much more. You will not need to give me access to your personal cameras, that would be a breach of privacy, but do remember to update me.”
Finch looked surprised but nodded, nevertheless.
“Understood, my Lord.”
From the security room, Blue smiled.
All according to plan.

Warnings: Suggestive? implied violence/torture (waterboarding to be exact), blood, strong language, triggered PTSD, and panic attack.
Synopsis: “I do not think I really need to say that you are both ‘excused’ from your duties at Justice Reigns.” The woman looked away, biting her lip. While she did look upset, at least she had the awareness and wits to not add anything lest it complicates the already messy situation they were in.
Wits, that her accomplice clearly did not possess.
***
“I suppose I don’t need to spell to you how much in trouble you two are?” Dream’s voice seemed to echo in the empty room, his arms crossed around his chest and eyes icy cold as he stared down at the two trembling cowards in front of him. “You really have some nerves to come report in my office that nothing is wrong while doing something as heinous as this behind my back.”
Each of his words was laced with venom and the sharpness of his voice felt like each word was being stabbed into them. They could do nothing but nod.
“I do not think I really need to say that you are both ‘excused’ from your duties at Justice Reigns.” The woman looked away, biting her lip. While she did look upset, at least she had the awareness and wits to not add anything lest it complicates the already messy situation they were in.
Wits, that her accomplice clearly did not possess.
He snapped his head upward with a loud and incredulous ‘What?!’ that had the woman giving him her best horrified expression. Before she could hope to stop him, he let out one of the most ridiculous and offensive sentences that Blue had ever heard being said to Dream under his nose.
“You can’t do that!” Blue took back anything he said about this man being smart, all the preparation he witnessed has been the work of luck instead. “Making criminals pay for their actions is what you are aiming for, right? We only acted like you wanted us to!”
Blue visibly cringed at the hopeful eyes of the idiot who just uttered those words. Thinking that this could possibly please Dream in any way was not even a skill issue at this point, Blue was starting to wonder just how in the world he had gotten this job.
He turned to glance at Dream who was definitely having trouble restraining himself from doing something Blue would not like to witness. Such as a stab, to name a few.
“So, betraying my trust, ganging up on one criminal while letting the others get anything they wanted as long as said criminal was being tormented, letting others in our hold run free for a little while and causing trouble was what I wanted you to do?” Dream raised an eyebrow, his tone even more venomous somehow.
At least the former master of the dungeons realized his mistake as he looked down. Seeing that Dream was even more pissed now, his assistant seemed to have finally given up any kind of dignity or loyalty she had.
“I didn’t want to do it!” she suddenly exclaimed, making the other snap his head toward her. “I did not want to, but he forced me to! He said he would get my husband jailed if I did not cooperate with him! Please, My Lord, you must believe me!”
“You bitch! You are speaking nonsense, you agreed to that from the beginning! You said you would do it because of--”
“You’re the one lying!” Dream’s non-existent patience was really starting to run thin.
“SILENCE!” He shouted, which had both jumped and lowered their head again, shaking. At least it worked to shut them up. “I do not know what made both of you think you had even the slightest chance of bargaining or whatever pitiful convincing this was but let me stop you there. I do not have the patience or time to deal with such childish banter.”
“Although, you might be interested to hear of the reasons as to why all of this happened. Won’t you hear me out for that one?” As he spoke, Blue intertwined his hand with Dream, smirking as he stared into the man’s eyes.
Dream glanced at him. “Proceed.”
“You see, these two happen to be quite... interested in us.” Blue really enjoyed the look of both anger and fear in the other’s eyes. “You’ve heard in the recording as well as I have that they’ve been targeting Hacker to get to me but really, the only thing I’ve done to them is steal you, from her--”
He did not break eye contact with the furious traitor. “--and rejected his advances, must have been quite the blow to his pride.”
He smirked as his hands curled into fists by his side, utterly humiliated.
Meanwhile, Dream’s death glare was now mixed with another emotion: disappointment.
“So, you’ve done this for the sake of petty unrequited desires?” They both shuddered as they met his gaze. He narrowed his eyes as they did not even try to deny it. “Choose the right words to beg for your lives and I might reconsider your punishment.” After he was done delivering his final warning, he turned to Blue, his eyes immediately softening.
Perhaps, that should not have made Blue’s knees get weak, but he could not help it.
God, he loved his angel boy so much.
He squeezed his hand before letting go of it. “Go wait for me in my office, okay? I will be back soon.”
Blue smiled, nodding. Then, as if it were to deal the duo a final blow, he got on his toes and leaned in to plant a small kiss on the other’s cheek, who flushed a little. “See you in ten minutes!”
He then skipped out of the room, feeling even lighter than he ever had before.
***
The first thing that Finch noticed when he pushed the door open was the fact that Hacker was awake, his eyes half-lidded but opened, nonetheless. In all honesty, it must have been the first time he had seen him awake since his last visit.
The noise made him turn his head. As Finch stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, Hacker had the time to twitch his lips upward in a smile. “Hey.”
“Hello.” His voice still sounded quite strange, but at least it was better than before. “How are you feeling?”
Hacker shrugged as he rolled onto his side to get a better view of Finch. “Weird but hey, at least I don’t feel like dying anymore, improvement!” He tried to laugh but it ended in him somehow choking and getting caught in a violent fit of coughs.
Finch panicked, about to open the door to get a nurse, a doctor, really anyone who knew about that kind of stuff. “I’m fine!” Hacker halted the thought in between coughs, holding his hand in the air like he was intending to grab Finch’s sleeve to stop him.
Obviously though, there was no way it would work out, but the thought was there at least.
“I still think it would be wiser to get someone to check on you, I’m positive that coughing out blood is not a good sign.” Hacker’s attempt at hiding it by shoving his tainted hand under the blanket did not go unnoticed, he supposed it would have been expected though.
“No, really! I am fine, there is no need to call anyone!” He insisted, grabbing a tissue from the new box Jasper put in his room last time he was there. “It happens from time to time but I’m okay, you can ask Jasper next time you see him, he’ll agree with me!”
Finch still seemed somewhat hesitant, but he did stay in the room. “If you say so, if I find out you’re lying to me though, be prepared to face the consequences.”
“Oh no, a hot cop is threatening to punish me whatever shall I do?” Hacker snickered, eyes drooping again.
“... I’m leaving.” Finch turned his back to Hacker before taking a step closer to the door, his hand already on the doorknob when Hacker called out to him.
“No wait--” Hacker surged forward, his hand reaching out to grab Finch’s sleeve. The latter’s eyes widened as he turned around, just in time to notice Hacker’s body tipping toward the ground due to the sudden weight shift.
Now, in Finch’s defense he did try to catch him but there was only so much one could do to compete with gravity, especially when the falling one was already awfully close to the ground.
Hacker’s body crashed into the ground, headfirst, in a loud thud that was soon followed by a sharp cry of pain from the man himself. Finch cursed as he crouched down next to him, the latter having curled in a trembling ball, holding his ribs with one arm.
He helped him sit up, frowning as he realized that Hacker’s breath was coming into short and fast labored pants, eyes teary.
He must have fallen onto one of his healing injuries.
Finch was already dreading trying to explain why this happened to Jasper when he promised him, he would be careful.
He extended his hand toward Hacker again to help him back onto his bed before said one’s eyes widened as he slapped Finch’s hand away with pure fear displayed on his face. “DON’T TOUCH ME!”
Finch stepped back in shock from the outburst as Hacker backed away as far as he could before his back hit the bed. He held his head with his hands after that, sniffing. “I didn’t even do anything to you, why are you doing this to me?”
Realization slowly sneaked in.
He must have forgotten where he was after hitting his head and the fact he was hurting probably did not help. The sight of his Justice Reigns uniform must have been the last blow needed to trigger some sort of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
His mind started racing for what to do as Hacker’s breath started to get even messier, indicating he was most likely to pass out any time soon if he was not going to calm down. In a flash, he got out of his jacket and tried to approach him slowly, talking to him in a calm voice to try and soothe him.
Since he did not push him away, he assumed it was fine to wrap his fingers around his forearm.
He was quickly proved wrong.
“noNONONONO-” Hacker screamed as he tried to get away from Finch’s grip, any progress on his breathing thrown out of the window as he started sobbing. “Please please don’t drown me again, I’ll do anything just--”
His ramble was cut short when he gasped as Finch pulled him into a hug. He stuttered in confusion, eyes wide as he looked over to him.
“I won’t do anything to you, alright?” He was not fond of hugs, but at least it calmed Hacker down. Through their clothes, he could feel the violent beating of the other’s heart subsiding ever so slightly. “Just, take a deep breath for now. You are safe, you are fine.”
Hacker pulled in a shaky breath.
***
The door to Dream’s office opened to reveal the owner of said office looking calmer than he had been all week. At his sight, Blue waved enthusiastically at him from his spinning chair. “Dream! You are back!”
He let a small smile appear on his face as he made his way toward Blue who got off the chair, before he slipped down onto the chair. “So much time wasted.” He sighed, eyeing his watch in disapproval.
“I wouldn’t really call that a waste of time.” Blue hummed as he hugged the other from behind. “Did you kill them?” At the question, Dream scoffed.
“No, but I did want to. Seeing their faces makes me sick.” Blue smirked. That was exactly what he wanted to hear.
“In that case, why don’t you leave them in that abandoned warehouse at the outskirts of Justice Reigns? You could get someone to guard them for you while you think about a proper punishment.” Dream tapped his chin in though, pondering his options.
Ultimately, he nodded.
“You’re right, at least this will spare me the headache of hearing them whine about their predicament.”
Blue’s smile widened. “You could get Finch on it, it’s not like you had anything planned for him today!”
He nodded at the suggestion again, falling right into Blue’s hands as always.

Wrath (BTH)

This post is part of the Bad Things Happen series.

Warnings: Strong language
Synopsis: He was smart, Blue had to give him that.
Unfortunately for him, Blue was smarter, and he was about to show him how superior he was at these games.
He will always be the last one laughing.
***
Blue had been patiently waiting for Finch’s text with Dream in the latter’s office, having given himself for mission to reward himself for all his efforts by seeing in person Dream’s fury as he would listen to the recording, numerous ideas for punishment racing through his mind as he would stomp furiously toward the dungeons.
For now, though, said angel boy was blissfully unaware of the series of events his boyfriend has been foreseeing and pulling the strings of.
Besides, he was certain that Dream was too caught up in his paperwork to pay attention to Blue’s knowing smirk he had been shooting at him for the past hour. Or perhaps his revealed teeth had been drowned by the ocean of white inside of Dream’s office.
People tended to say that Blue was dramatic but this time, he was perfectly realistic. There were piles of paper that reached the ceiling everywhere you landed your eyes. Even in the busiest periods of Justice Reigns, Dream had never been overwhelmed by such a great amount of paperwork.
Dream did seem suspicious about the fact Blue did not try to get him to take a break today seeing the amount of work literally looming over him, but he brushed it off, having long since given up on figuring out what Blue was up to.
He was quite the enigma, but he supposed it was part of his charm.
Dream would not have been disappointed to know what his boyfriend was on about in that head of his.
While Blue hated the master of dungeons (maybe hate was too small of a word for what he actually felt toward him) for what he had done, he had to give him kudos for the execution of his plan.
Finch had been allowed a week off, so he wasn’t there to monitor the dungeons and the guards’ activity and while Dream would normally check the dungeons’ cameras occasionally to keep an eye out on those sorts of things, he had made sure to let some criminals go rampant while he was busy in a raid to give him as much paperwork as possible to keep him from having the time to monitor them too.
He was smart, Blue had to give him that.
Unfortunately for him, Blue was smarter, and he was about to show him how superior he was at these games.
He will always be the last one laughing.
As if on cue, Dream’s phone suddenly beeped, making the latter almost jump out of his skin as he accidentally snapped his pen. A groan of frustration left him, Blue’s smirk just grew even larger.
A sleep-deprived, frustrated Dream was more likely to make bad decisions but also more likely to listen to Blue’s suggestions, even if they were to go against his normal course of actions.
Well, it is not like Blue did not have a way to make his angel boy listen to him if it came to it.
But this method is quicker and is also likely to bring Blue quite the entertainment when Dream would eventually regret whatever he suggested he did and wallow in regret.
“Huh, a text from Finch?” Dream’s eyebrows raised in both surprise and curiosity as his finger swiped over the screen, opening the message. While he was doing that, Blue had wrapped his arms around Dream’s neck, his cheek resting on his shoulder as he looked over the contents of the screen.
‘Dear Lord Dream,
I have my suspicions that the master of the dungeons might have been abusing his power. After listening to the recording, I have sent you below, may I request you to meet me in the security room?
There are things I would like to confirm with you.
May this message find you well,
Finch.’
Dream’s eyes narrowed at the text before he quickly pressed on the play button on his phone screen, the dialog Finch had witnessed a few minutes earlier bouncing around the wall of paper all around them.
Just by the way he felt Dream’s chest heave in a deep inhale, he easily guessed that now he was not only frustrated but absolutely furious.
Blue let go of him as he quickly typed Finch a response before calling Ink.
“Hello Ink, I am afraid I will have to be delayed at some of my meetings and such today. I will also be unavailable for a little while; you are in charge until my return.” He did not even let his trusted assistant speak or ask any questions that he had already hung up, letting his chair fall back as he stood up and stomped toward the entrance.
Even in his fury, he somehow managed to dodge all the papers in his way.
Blue shook his head in amusement before following him with light steps.
***
It was a normal day at the dungeons, the bars still sent electrical shocks to anyone who touched them, there were still some criminals maniacally laughing in their sleep and the day seemed as boring as ever.
Or so, that was the case until the entrance to the area was slammed open, the doors loudly bumping into the walls which caused most of the criminals to flinch. The ones closest to the entrance turned to glare at the origin of the noise before their glares fell into pathetic fearful glances as they paled, coming face to face with the CEO of the Justice Reigns organization in the flesh.
His mere presence was more than enough to make most people sweat bullets but the fact he was radiating a more murderous aura than all the criminals here combined clearly only worked to enhance said effect.
He royally ignored the terrified stares that followed him and stomped toward the end of the hallway, his every footstep echoing loudly through the corridors like a warning bell for an immediate danger.
Which seemed like the case then.
Most of them did not even notice Blue trailing after him with a smile plastered on his face.
When the master of the dungeons came into view, Dream started walking even faster. He shouted his name in a terrifying tone, said man flinching before he turned around slowly, answering his call with a shaky voice and skin so pale he would have been mistaken for an albino if not for his hair and eyes.
Oh, how good it was to see such an expression on his face when the trouble did not even begin.
“We need to have a little discussion.” He stopped in front of him, a death glare focused on him as he crossed his arms around his chest.
“Of course, My Lord!” The other was quick to reply, sending his assistant off to get some tea. He was smart enough to tell that making the already furious man in front of him wait any longer than necessary would spell his doom.
Well, it’s not like he could really escape from it anyway.
Blue had made sure of it.
As he watched him absolutely decomposing in front of Dream’s intimidating stare, he secretly sent the audio recording Finch had bothered to get to Randy, along with a message signed ‘Finch’.
He was not quite one for violence, but it didn’t mean that Blue was going to let them get away with just losing their job after everything they’d done.
***
“Oh, hello Finch!” The doctor smiled as the captain stepped through the door, waving. He answered with a nod.
“Hello Jasper, is everything okay?” The other man nodded as he closed the drawer that he has been rummaging through shut, taking out a small syringe and a small bottle of liquid.
“As busy as ever but nothing out of the ordinary.” He responded as he dumped an empty bottle that had been left there. “I suppose you’re here to see Hacker?”
“I am, any progress on his condition?” Jasper put all of his tools on top of the desk, grabbing a new pair of clean gloves.
“He’s still quite sleepy but he doesn’t seem to be sleeping as much anymore.” He cursed as the gloves put a little too much resistance to his liking. “The regular administration of painkillers also seems to do him good. I think he should be fine to leave in a few days, if someone is by his side of course.”
Finch had to step aside for a nurse to zoom past him, hands full with new material. “He’s still going to need to use painkillers, but the amount would be reasonable enough for him not to need any assistance from a medical professional.” As he finished his sentence, he reached for a mask.
“Although, I’m afraid I’m going to have to leave for surgery. I trust you not to mess with anything, but it is my duty to make sure nothing happens to my patients, I hope you understand?” Finch nodded.
“Of course, you’re just doing what is expected from you. I will be careful not to touch anything I shouldn’t.” Jasper seemed satisfied with this answer as he walked away, turning back once to remind him he had an appointment this Friday.
Finch sighed before he got on the move, Hacker’s room just right around the corner. He opened the door slowly.

“We haven’t gotten any news from Hacker for a while now.” Randy let out with a worried frown on his face as he placed the plates on the table. Across from him, Bobby’s expression faltered as well as he glanced at the empty chair next to him. “Do you think--”
He spoke up before Randy could introduce the idea that something might have happened to him. “He is fine, you know him. He is probably just flirting with Finch again.” The way he tapped on his fork as he said that was evidence of his nervousness.
Randy did not know if he said that to convince him or himself but either way, he did not comment further. “I hope that you’re right.” They both sat down and began to eat before Randy’s phone suddenly beeped.
Both men flinched, not expecting that. Randy took out his device with an eyebrow raised his hand swiping to unlock the phone. Bobby, who was still munching on some pasta, spoke up. “Who is it?”
Randy’s frown deepened. “It’s an unknown number but apparently it came from... Finch?”
“whAT-” Bobby almost choked on his handful of pasta before he jumped off his seat and ran behind Randy, leaning onto his chair to look above his shoulder. “Hacker gave it to him? He is such a simp I would not be surprised that he did.”
“There seems to be an... audio file?” Both were getting more curious now, especially since the sender had stated that this was something both should know. Bobby clicked the play button.
***
“I... Holy shit.” Bobby stepped away with a hand over his mouth, his face as pale as the moon. “No way that...” He shook his head. “This has to be a joke.”
Randy, who was still sitting at the table, was shaking from pure anger, his fist vibrating as he suddenly snapped the fork in his hand in two, his nails transforming into long and sharp claws. His pupils turned a bloody red as his voice started to distort, sounding deeper and more echoey.
“Those BASTARDS!” He yelled, getting up from his seat.
‘I will make some arrangements for you to be able to talk to the two you have heard in the recording. I was told to give you this opportunity as a sort of compensation for our failure to make sure this would not happen. Of course, you will not be chastised during your stay, and you will also get to see Hacker once you are done with them.
There is a warehouse on the border of the Justice Reigns’ territory, please meet us there tomorrow at 2 P.M. (## #### #### ###)
In hopes this message finds you well,
Finch.’

Finch Needs A Raise
***
Previous part — Next part
This post is part of the Bad things happen series.
***
Flirts x 2 = Mess, the sequel
WARNINGS: Suggestive (Because of Blue and Hacker), referenced sexual activities, referenced violence
Ships: Past Hue (Hacker x Blue [They still act fruity though ahem]), Hinch (Hacker x Finch, in progress at least) and Drueswap (Dream x Blue)
Synopsis: “I... don’t think I wanted to hear any of that.” He could not help but confess aloud, interrupting Hacker’s shouts of ‘Unbelievable!’ at the end of Blue’s tale. Both Devil’s spawns turned toward him in mild surprise like they had just noticed that he has been standing there the whole time.
Hacker was the first to react. “Oh? You are still here Finch?”
“I have been here.” He corrected, the slightest hint of desperation in his voice. “I cannot leave, this is a part of my job.” He continued rambling as the other two looked at each other amused. “W h y?” His voice broke, feeling the little patience he had left crumbling and being stepped on.
***
One good thing about being the CEO of Justice Reigns’ partner is that you were allowed anywhere you would like in the headquarters of said organization. If someone ever tried to stop Blue from going somewhere without an apparent reason, like undergoing an experiment in the science division, then another would pull that person away by the elbow, explaining to them just what they had done in a hushed tone.
Blue found it quite amusing how their mildly annoyed eyes would immediately revert to horrified ones once they were told just who he was to Dream. To entertain himself a bit more, he would usually cross his arms in a fake annoyance and raise an irritated eyebrow at the person.
It was enjoyable to see them freak out and apologize profusely for the entire division. He would usually keep said face until he walked away enough to be able to snicker without being noticed.
Not like anyone would have the guts to say anything to him.
So here he was, waltzing through the corridors of the Justice Reigns' dungeons as guards exchange nervous glances with one another at each step Blue takes further into the domain.
He was planning to leave once he had had enough with giving Dream’s subordinates heart attacks but just as he was about to take the exit, his eyes locked onto a familiar face behind bars. He froze, blinking, before walking toward the cells.
He vaguely heard gasps of dread leaving the guards who hurried after him, most definitely to ask him to step back. He could not blame them for that reaction since most of the criminals kept here were extremely dangerous, even life threatening in some cases.
But the one he had just spotted here was nothing short of harmless. In fact, Blue even suspected that there was more chance he would hurt himself instead of the target when trying to punch someone.
“Hacker?” He called and the latter’s eyes lit up, snapping back into focus. The way he looked so dozed off earned just the tiniest tug of worry in Blue’s heart. Though that concern was quickly shoved down when said person’s pupils almost turned into stars when he recognized him before he jumped to his feet to jog to the other.
“Blue! I missed you so—Wait, what are you doing here??” His excitement quickly morphed into confusion as he scanned his wrists searching for any handcuffs. When there were not, he looked up to his eyes again with a blank stare. “... Who did you scam?”
Blue let out a dramatic offended gasp, his expression turning upset. “I did not scam anyone, I am a model citizen, mind you.” The guards who were following him earlier stopped as they watched the scene unfold in utter confusion before they all collectively decided to leave this whole ordeal for Finch to deal with, who was posted somewhere near.
Hacker raised an eyebrow at that but did not comment further onto the matter. “If you didn’t do that then why are you here?” He checked his wrists again. “You don’t look like you’ve been arrested either.”
Blue chuckled. “I rizzed up the head.” He said, the smug look on his face speaking volumes of how proud he was about that. Hacker’s facial expression was tainted by confusion.
“The hea--” Before realization hit him and his jaw was left wide open as he stared incredulously at the man in front of him. “DREAM VON LICHT?!” The shout echoed through the dungeons and several criminals flinched at the sudden noise, turning toward the origin. Finch, who was still posted nearby, winced, a hand covering his ear as he glared daggers into Hacker’s head.
Said person did not seem to notice or care about the attention he was getting, preferring to pass his hands through the bars, ignoring the electrical shock that was sent right through his body before he put his hands on Blue’s shoulders. “ARE YOU FOR REAL? I WAS JOKING LAST TIME!”
Blue laughed at his reaction before swatting his hands away from him, warning him not to injure himself further with the electrical shots. “I wouldn’t be here if I was joking, would I?” His best friend was still processing the information.
Once he finally did, he looked at Blue in a certain way that only the two of them could. “Soo...” He got closer to the bars again as he prolonged the syllable. “How big is he?”
Behind them, Finch’s face lost all colors. He prayed for every god he could think of that surely Blue was not going to answer him, surely, he would get to stay ignorant of that information for the rest of his life.
However, the gods did not look toward him and the only warning he got to prepare himself mentally was his boss’s boyfriend chuckling before a number left his lips. Hacker registered the information before giggling in his hand like a high-school girl talking about her crush before he wiggled his eyebrows at the other causing him to laugh.
“Good to know, although I need to know what happened exactly.” He sat on his cell’s bed with his legs crossed like he was participating in some kind of sleepover. “I want every. Single. Detail.”
Blue tapped his chin in thought. “Hm, sorry baby, you’re going to have to wait for it.”
Hacker let out an offended gasp, eyes wide with betrayal. “WHAT? WHY??” He sounded so genuinely hurt that Finch found himself thinking that they should implement a sort of mental hospital facility for delusional criminals like that, if only to make their job easier.
Blue clicked his tongue before crossing his arms around his chest, looking at the criminal with the kind of look one would expect to see on an adult’s face explaining something obvious to a child. “Because it would feel more satisfying that way, don’t you trust me?”
Hacker pouted before letting out a sigh of defeat. “Fiiiine but at least tell me something interesting, I’ve been dying of boredom here no one talks to meee...” He whined dramatically, slumping onto his bed.
Blue chuckled but acquiesced, nonetheless. “Very well, but let me tell you this, you are so not ready to hear it.”
His interest piqued, Hacker sat up again, having never seemed more concentrated than now.
“S p e a k.”
“Well, do you remember the coworker I told you about last time? Veronica?” Hacker nodded eagerly, seeming hooked to his words.
***
After hearing their conversation, Finch was starting to think that the World War II he had suffered through during his childhood in his home universe was not as bad as whatever kind of dystopian dialog between evil (shameless) entities he had the misfortune of witnessing.
“I... don’t think I wanted to hear any of that.” He could not help but confess aloud, interrupting Hacker’s shouts of ‘Unbelievable!’ at the end of Blue’s tale.
Blue shrugged, a smile on his face. “Why not?”
“What is wrong with you two?!” He would have felt bad for reacting that way in any normal circumstances but listening to their horrifying conversation must have stripped him of at least half of his remaining lifespan because of how traumatizing it was. As the captain of the Justice Division, he was paid well, so well in fact one could even qualify him as wealthy. However, even if he were to sacrifice his entire salary for therapy, he doubted it would be enough to heal him properly.
“My last name is Chicago, what do you think? It makes sense that my parents were so neglectful man.” Hacker said absently.
Blue scoffed in amusement, letting the sentence ‘isn’t your last name Bradford?’ die on his tongue. “Imagine having parents, couldn’t be me.”
“Why need those when you already have a ‘daddy’?” He snickered at his own joke as he winked at Blue, who choked, his eyes wide with shock. It quickly morphed into laughter though as he wheezed, using the wall as a support to keep him from falling.
Meanwhile, Finch’s face had lost all color, his eyes lifeless as he contemplated everything that happened before leading to this very event. An image of Dream flashed in his mind, and he flinched slightly, expression starting to become a horrified one as he wondered just how he was supposed to face his superior ever again after hearing something like this.
Seeing his reaction, Hacker laughed even harder.
“Oh, come on Finch, you do not need to look so traumatized! It is funny!” If there were no bars between him and Finch, there was no doubt that he would have smacked his back.
“This is torture.” He corrected with the same strangled voice, making both men let out another chuckle.
Blue wiped out a tear that had started to form between his irregular breaths before he calmed down to be able to form a coherent sentence. “By the way, I meant to ask...” He turned toward Hacker again who cocked his head to the side. “How are you back here? I thought you had managed to go out?”
“...” Hacker let out a nervous chuckle.
“... Seriously?” The unimpressed look Blue gave him spurred him into action.
“It’s not my fault if I can’t stop...” He grumbled under his breath. “I’ve been trying to, but it never works I always end up doing it again...”
The other shook his head in amusement. “It’s the gay in you doing that.” He stopped and his smile fell. “Well, as much as I like talking to you it must be time for me to go.”
The other’s smile fell as well, his eyebrows furrowed. “Right, can’t you come see me often?”
“I will try of course but while you are relatively harmless...” He turned to look at another prisoner, the latter having their eyes set onto them all this entire time. “...Most people in that area aren’t.”
Hacker nodded, still seeming quite upset. “Yeah, I get it.”
Blue stared at his sulking expression before sighing, approaching and flicking Hacker’s forehead through the bars. The latter yelped, blinking as he put a hand on the affected area. “I will still try to come by, pook pook. Stop making that face.”
The latter smiled again. “Thank you, cutie pie. It is appreciated.”
Blue motioned for Hacker to get closer again and Finch watched with wide eyes as the former suddenly leaned in and planted a kiss on the corner of the other’s lips.
“I’ll miss you pookie!” Hacker waved before his hands bent to form a heart. Blue reciprocated the signs before walking away and disappearing around the corner.
“I... I am so confused.” Finch breathed out, making the criminal raise an eyebrow.
“About what?” He cocked his head to the side again, looking genuinely confused.
“What are you two??” Finch vaguely wondered if he should let Dream know about what he had just witnessed. But then again... a flashback of Hacker asking Blue how big the former was enough to halt the idea completely.
Unaware of the internal conflict, Hacker simply replied that they were best friends. “I guess you could say that we are exes too but our feelings for each other are totally platonic. We just flirt with each other because we find that funny. Plus...” He smirked at him. “It gives us inspiration to flirt with you two.”
Finch growled, his middle finger standing up. “Of course, you two would agree on something like that.”
“You’re so mean.” He dramatically sobbed as he faceplanted against his pillow.
Finch left after that, regretting every decision he had made until now.

Flirts x 2 = Mess

Previous part — Next part
This post is part of the Bad things happen series

Ships: Past Hue (Hacker x Blue), Hinch (Hacker x Finch, mentioned), Drueswap (Dream x Blue, mentioned)
Warnings: Nothing I think?
Synopsis: Though as careful and cunning as Blue was, in the end, he too craved affection like anyone else. So before he aimed for the head of the infamous Justice Reigns, he had a couple of boyfriends.
One of them in particular, was quite the character and while their personalities matched, the relationship had gone to mush as both had issues of their own that made them simply unable to have a stable and healthy relationship with one another.
That ex in particular just so happened to be standing right in front of him.
***
It was almost common sense that Blue turned heads his way. Ever since he managed to get out of the endless white of the antivoid to a real place, he had noticed that people usually eyed him in a certain interested way.
Perhaps some would say that it was uncomfortable. To have people watching you in the corner of their eyes while you walked ahead, to have them asking you for your number before greeting you or sometimes even just full on gawking at you as if you were the most beautiful piece of art they have ever seen.
But for an attention-starved man like Blue, it was Heaven. He felt like he was noticed and there, not just a piece of the landscape. Maybe the logic behind that reasoning wasn't easy to get but when was Blue ever easy to understand?
To have anyone know how you behave was weakness, to have anyone being able to predict your next actions was weakness. Blue was perfectly content not to have to worry about any of these things.
Though as careful and cunning as Blue was, in the end, he too craved affection like anyone else.
“...” Blue stared at him, his eyes wide in surprise.
“...” He stared back, not expecting to run into him too it seems.
“... Aren’t you supposed to be in jail?” Blue questioned at one point, a teasing smile twitching at the side of his lips. The man in front of him returned the smirk.
“I am yes, but Finch somehow managed to convince the big boss to let me out.” Hacker said, making sure not to let the content of the bags in his hand being reviewed by Blue. “Though, I suppose you already knew about that, didn’t you?”
The other, being himself, of course noticed that suspicious behavior and decided that only a fool would challenge him in that way. He was definitely going to know what Hacker is hiding by the end of their conversation. “Of course I did.” He answered as innocently as possible. “Wasn’t really hard to figure out.”
Hacker chuckled a bit. “Yeah, as expected from Mr.Know-it-all. I’m saying that affectionately of course, don’t misunderstand me here.” Oh he definitely knew Blue was onto him.
“No need to worry about that.” Blue said, waving off his concerns with the back of his hand. “So apart from escaping from jail and everything, how are you going?”
Hacker hummed in thought, playing with the bag in his hands. “I think I’m doing pretty good, But well, how can you not feel great after eating Randy’s pancakes?”
“Touché.” Blue and Randy had met a solid three times when he and Hacker got together but each time, the freakishly tall man had been nothing but a sweetheart. So much, in fact, that one would wonder why he was wanted in the first place. Because really, it would be more likely that he was wanted as a father figure than a criminal.
Blue knew why of course but he wouldn’t tell anyone that, it wasn’t his place to do so after all.
“Thinking of it, you haven’t seen him in a while have you?” Hacker suddenly asked. Before Blue could answer, he followed it up with another question. “Wanna go hang out at my place? We’ve got lots to catch up after all.”
He blinked in surprise at that, vaguely thinking that it has indeed been a while since the two of them had the chance to really relax and chat at their heart’s content. Though, there was still a slight problem. “Would that really be okay though?” As Hacker raised his eyebrows, he quickly sighed before explaining briefly or rather, giving a hint on what the problem was. “I mean, isn’t Randy upset with me?”
Their relationship was anything but healthy and as caring as Randy was, he didn’t doubt that the latter would hardly accept someone who had hurt one of his unofficial sons showing up at his house.
And frankly speaking, Blue had no intention of squaring up with anybody and especially not a 6 '6 foot tall person who would probably be able to swing a claymore just fine.
However, the other shook those worries away with a wave of his hand and a shake of his head. A small conflicted smile came up to cover his face. “Don’t worry about having Randy mad at you, all of his hatred has been focused on [Jasper] for a while now.”
“Is that so?” Well, that was a relief, somewhat. Though, he couldn’t blame Randy for being mad at him specifically. Compared to Hacker’s relationship with that guy, theirs were the definition of happy and healthy. “It would be a pleasure then.”
“The pleasure’s mine.” He replied, playfully winking. Blue rolled his eyes with a smile, hitting his shoulder as he did so. Maybe being boyfriends didn’t work out, but that didn’t mean that the two of them couldn’t be good friends!

They were both standing on the house’s varanda when screams coming from inside the house suddenly rang out, startling both of them.
“FUCK THAT WIFI!” A certain feral teenager yelled, the loud thud of an object colliding with the wall closely following that shout. Hurried footsteps were then heard before the sound of a door opening reached their ears.
“Language son! Now, what is the issue exactly?” An older man’s voice spoke, soothing the other one. As witnesses, the duo of flirts could only chuckle in vague amusement before Hacker was finally able to turn the keys in the hole and swing the door open.
“I’m home!” He shouted amidst the chaos, not bothering to turn the volume up more than necessary. A distant ‘Welcome home!’ was heard within the halls but no one paid much attention to it, if we don’t count Hacker’s small smile on his face.
“The house didn’t change much from last time I came here, huh?” Blue remarked, plopping on one of the couches of the living room. The same furniture, the same unidentified mound of clothes on the dining chairs, messy but that somehow added to the already very homey atmosphere of the building.
“Yeah, we usually don’t have any visitors so tidying everything up is like, the least of our concerns.” Hacker sat down next to Blue, instinctively reaching for the remote control that was (for once) free from anyone else’s grip. “Fancying watching any movie?”
Blue stared at the empty screen for a little bit, humming, before he shook his head. “No, I think I would rather talk. Plus, turning on the TV is just a wish for Bobby to come out of nowhere and steal the remote.”
Hacker chuckled, throwing it where it belonged. “You’ve got a point there. I don’t really want to deal with him as of right now anyway.” He kicked his feet to the coffee table, slumping a little more as he did so. From the two of them, it was clear by posture alone who was more comfortable in this house. “So, what do you want to talk about?”
“Well, we have so much to tell each other that I doubt we can really choose that easily.” It has been a solid year since they’ve really got to talk face to face after his detention after all. “But I’ve heard that you found yourself attached to someone new?” He asked with a hint of a smirk on his lips.
Hacker scoffed, amused. “Yeah, though I’ve also heard you weren’t bad in that department either. Like really? Dream Von Licht himself? You’re really the only one who would ever think of attempting something like that and actually succeeding.”
“What can I say? I just have that much charisma.” Hacker nudged him with his elbow for that, earning a half-hearted ‘ow’ from the other. “And don’t think I didn’t notice you reaching for high ends too. Trying to get the captain of the Justice Division, a direct subordinate of Dream, while you’re a literal criminal.”
“A criminal, yes, but a hot one!” He replied quickly, performing an exaggerated wink that almost had Blue bursting out laughing. “Besides, we gotta keep that enemies to lovers trope going you know? I’ve been scrolling for a good while online but these are starting to get rare.”
“Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night my friend.” Blue started to relax, slightly leaning a little more on the couch behind him. “I’m quite relieved actually, I would feel bad if I were the only one to find myself someone before our 40’s.”
Confusion passed on the other’s features before realization dawned on him. “Oh right! I almost forgot about our deal. It’s true that we haven’t thought about that possibility. What would happen if only one of us were to find a partner? Because like, we can’t really share, that would be slightly unsettling.”
Blue raised a questioning eyebrow. “Only slightly?”
“... Yeah, you’re right it would be weird as fuck.” Hacker’s face scrunched.
“Have you ever imagined yourself snogging Dream?” At the sentence, the other’s eyes widened as he choked on his spit, doubling over from the shock as Blue started laughing uncontrollably.
“Oh my fucking- sTOP!”
Truly, what good friends they were.
