“Babyyyyyyy!”
Aliens witness humans going “Babyyyy” when they see other animals and mistakenly believe that humans are liable to believe ANYTHING is a member of their young if it acts/appears similar enough; this has resulted in MULTIPLE cases where aliens leave their children at human orphanages instead of on their own world because of humanity’s pack bonding ability and it becomes some huge scandal where aliens are like.
“Manipulating them into taking care of our own young is immoral”
and
“Have you seen humanity? The moment they figure out what we’re doing, they’re freak out and go on a murder spree!”
Meanwhile, humanity is just like ‘sweet, we’re taking care of alien kids... we can handle this :)’
Bonus points if a human brings something like a puppy on board a ship and call it by saying ‘babyyyy!~’ and, despite knowing that it is DEFINITELY not a human infant, they try to treat it as such despite the fact that it is not a human.
Humanity appreciates this.

that 'humans are space orcs'/'earth is space australia' thing really aggravates me.
In one part b/c of the aftertaste of whiteness the folks writing it tend to have (where the majority of what they put as 'universal' human culture is straight-up white shit a lot of the time) Especially the all humans are the same shit just, no. Very no. Like, there's implications if humans do only have one culture/language/etc in yer setting b/c it implies someone did some genociding and forced assimilation.
And the other part being that I have a Biology degree and like?
Austrailia isn't actually that extreme or that different from anywhere else on Earth. Humans are litterally not unique even on this planet, we're just the only homos left (for now, we won't exist forever. the lifespan of species, especially mammals isn't terribly long comparitively speaking). Humans aren't the only species on this planet that uses fire, or washes food, or wears things, or uses tools to hunt, or even the only things to throw spears, or drasticlly change the envornment to suit our needs, or do agriculture.
-> Convergent evolution is a thing. More likely than not alien visitors would probably have run into something similar to us at some point.
-> Anywhere where life exists, life competes and fills niches. Any alien world would very likely be just as much a 'death world' b/c predator/prey/parasite/disease interactions tend to make shit weird and dangerous.
(side note: All worlds are fucking death worlds, just in general. If a planet has life shit dies, if a planet doesnt have life then introduced life will die without protections b/c its native conditions arent fucking compatible with life)
Another part is the inherant lazy writing these people do for their aliens.
And also I just don't care for Human Exceptionalism. Just in general. especially when fuckers who think that Human Unexceptionalism has been a trend when they're talking about shit that uses the Human as Normal/the EVeryman trope and ??? that's still fucking human exceptionalism to make humans the baseline and every other species the weird/different ones

Deathworlders to the extreme! by AquaStarDark
You would think that life had already done enough to Shinsou Hitoshi; having two criminal parents that abandoned you the first chance they got can make you think that, anyway. Acid
So here’s another “humans are weird” idea; what if aliens didn’t digest with acid, what if they just had water that passively let their consumed substances dissolve before diffusing straight to the blood stream(or their equivalent). As a result of this they’d probably eat less than us overall and probably softer foods too which could lead to less durable teeth (or whatever they use to chew: if they even do that).
—————————————————————
When zorlack first joined the human crew he didn’t know what to expect; he was already aware of some of the human stereotypes: loud, aggressive but also, loyal, and curious. When he first took a tour around the ship everything seemed typical of your average transport vessel: engine room, crews quarters, storage. Everything was typical except food storage, it was practically overflowing with food.
He presumed that their first transport would be across two quadrants (bare minimum) for the ships crew to need that much food. He continued with this presumption until he found out which star system they were transporting to: the Orion spur.
Meaning one of three things: the humans were paranoid about starvation, the engine was really slow or, humans really needed that much food. But why? It would take weeks to consume even a fraction of the amount of food they had. Was it a display of wealth? He had heard of some human cultures perceiving increased weight as increased wealth; was this a similar display? He had to inquire further to know for certain, humans were confusing beings after all and since they’re so recent to the galactic stage not much was known of their behaviour.
Once cargo was loaded they were off. It wasn’t that far of a journey (well, not that far for a ship that can go faster than light, a couple days at most) so while on his break zorlack decided to inquire about the ridiculous amounts of food on the ship.
“Captain, why do we need so much food on the ship?” Zorlack asked when he had some of the Captains time.
“How do you mean?” He replied.
“You have enough food to last weeks, even months. Why do we need that much?”
“Months? Have they overstocked or something, it’s meant to only last us a couple of days, maybe a week if we’re lucky” the captain replied as he started walking to food storage to check.
Upon inspection there appeared to be enough food to last the trip, or at least to the captain it appeared that way. He wasn’t sure what the arflexian was so worked up about. “There seems to be enough food to me, I don’t see what the fuss is about”
“But sir, this should last several more weeks than the couple days we should be on board, unless you’re telling me that the crew needs this much food” zorlack huffed.
“Well it’s because we do need that much food” the captain replied blankly.
“How could you need that much? It would take forever to dissolve in water, especially with how tough a lot of that is”
“Water? Why would you dissolve it in water? Wouldn’t you just eat it normally?” The captain seemed truly confused now.
“Yes water, the water in your stomach used to wear down ingested materials” Zorlack said matter-of-factly.
“I’m afraid our stomachs use acid Zorlack.” The captain chuckled, finally understanding zorlacks confusion.
“Your stomachs use...what?” The confused alien spluttered in surprise. By now the captain had walked away to resume their duties.
Over the course of the next few days Zorlack decided to see if the captain was right, he was still quite doubtful that they’d need that much food. But, as the captain predicted, the human crewmembers had eaten their way through the food storage; only the emergency rations remained.
They restocked at the nearest port ready for the next shipment order. Turns out that the acidity didn’t just apply to the human stomach either and Zorlack made a mental note to avoid getting bitten by a human.
(Constructive criticism welcome, I’d like to know if there’s anyway I can improve :3)

Yo I was JUST thinking about this but like
Let’s say Aliens come to us to see what we find entertaining, a person of higher power sends a few handful of people who do different things
Some do things like cooking, being specialized in it, or swimming, maybe even singing or designing clothes/houses/etc., but then you get to the ice skater of the group and the aliens just go NUTS
“you,, you strap BLADES to your FEET, and RUN on ICE?! Like, frozen water, ICE? What do you MEAN it’s fun you’re literally putting your life in danger please don’t tell me other people do this”
“... you mean to tell me there’s COMPETITIONS for this kind of stuff? What is wrong with you?”

Ya know how humans are one of the only Vertical beings on the planet? Dogs and Bears etc are Horizontal beings. What if in the whole of the universe WE are the weird ones for being not only bipedal but being Vertical.

Humans are weird
Just imagine an alien’s reactions to getting a tattoo. I’m picturing the conversation going something like:
“Wow human-Sandy, that is a lovely painting on your arm. How long will it last?
“Oh, it’s permanent. It’s a tattoo.”
“What’s a tattoo?”
“Well it’s kind of like painting on your skin, but we actually inject the ink into us with needles so it’s more permanent.”
“Oh. That’s... nice.” And as he walks away he’s just muttering about how humans drink poison that ruins their liver, and inject ink into themselves “for fun” and none of his crewmates believe him because no species could be THAT self destructive, not even humans!
Of course later, Sandy tells them all about it, and once again they are left completely confused by the entirety of human existence.

me writing remortal au is just *stares into distance* maybe the thanos fight shouldn’t be on earth, even if it is in the furthest fuck-off nowhere place you can get in australia. IW thanos could pull the moon from the sky, so it’s safest to not have the battle anywhere on earth. maybe it should be on a different planet, like mars, or something. mars would be good for that: it’s empty but not the most hostile planet in the solar system so there wouldn’t need to be any really big precautions for safety. but exactly how upset would NASA be if some folks staged a battle for the fate of the universe on mars. would that create any contamination problems. what would that mean for the future of space science, if data from mars -- the closest planet we know of that once had liquid water on it’s surface -- is now longer reliable? would NASA look the other way if the reason for this fight happening on mars is so that any fallout doesn’t affect earth? the most powerful objects in the universe are at play, here, isn’t it better to have this fight on an uninhabited planet than anywhere near earth? would NASA look away because, hey, this is the mcu and we already have overwhelming evidence that humanity is not alone in the universe? is finding life on mars even a big deal in the mcu anymore? maybe this could happen on the moon instead, but agian, that’s kind of really close to earth and knocking the moon out of orbit would be... bad. having to deal with the logistics of having a final fight in space where everyone needs to be in spacesuits would be really really tricky, as well. maybe i could make some nanite-based suits for people? maybe it should just happen in austrailia. what’s earth’s current space program even like in mcu-2016 anyways? can you even GET to mars or the moon in a reasonable amount of time?
and the reason i eventually decided to have this thing happen in Australia? “you cant do dramatic yelling in space”

Yay, Bandwagoning!
So, I'm a bit of a writer with a knack for criticizing even my favorite things, and wanted in on the trend of the 'Humans are Weird, Earth is Space Austrailia' stories. After reading the endless amounts of prompts, stories, random ideas and whatnot, I wanted to talk about something that doesn't seem to be mentioned much in this weird community.
It seems like we automatically assume were the weird ones and that aliens don't have a culture or anything like that. In order for a species like the ones shown, there would have to be a whole lot more than sitting around waiting. As a historical reinactor, history buff, and many other things, I'm having a really hard time reading some of these stories, as it seems like people expect another sentient species to have just sat around waiting for us. Egotistical much?
What about handcrafts? Like sewing, or weaving or crochet? Handcrafts are the beginning of technology. Without knitting, there would be no space suit. Without blacksmithing, no spaceships.
And music.
A sentient being like the ones described in these stories would probably have music. Maybe not like ours, but they might have something as simple as folktunes.
Or storytelling!
What would they tell their offspring? What do they entertain each other with? What games are in store?
Exploration? Uh, yeah, that needs to be addressed!
How would the aliens be all across the universe making friends with other races if they'd just stayed put like people had suggested they do?
Religion? Probably.
How would they worship? Who do they worship? Why?
What's the folk culture? What about the aliens idea of mental illnesses? What are the symptoms? What makes them sick?
What I'm trying to say is, is that as much as I love this tag, it's pretty dry and needs more worldbuilding other than, 'Human does normal thing, alien freaks out'. C'mon, it's getting old. Please, tell us about the aliens. It seems like writers in this tag forget that while during a trope in its head is fun, it gets old when one forgets that the species has it's own quirks and that they weren't waiting around for us to show up. It's bad writing. If you are new to writing and using this as a way to practice, good, keep doing that. But I'm trying to get everyone to think more than just what I've been seeing. Try to think about culture, language, idealologies, illnesses, anything but 'humans are weird for normal things'.

The 7 Wonders of the Nature
Tumblr media
The Aurora Borealus or Norhten lights
Tumblr media
The northern Lights are one of the most beautiful phenomena in both science and nature According to how stuff works The Northern Lights occur asthe electrons enter the earth's upper atmosphere, they will encounter atoms of oxygen and nitrogen at altitudes from 20 to 200 miles above the earth's surface. The color of the aurora depends on which atom is struck, and the altitude of the meeting.
  Green - oxygen, up to 150 miles in altitude
  Red - oxygen, above 150 miles in altitude
  Blue - nitrogen, up to 60 miles in altitude
 Purple/violet - nitrogen, above 60 miles in altitude
All of the magnetic and electrical forces react with one another in constantly shifting combinations. These shifts and flows can be seen as the auroras "dance," moving along with the atmospheric currents that can reach 20,000,000 amperes at 50,000 volts. (In contrast, the circuit breakers in your home will disengage when current flow exceeds 15-30 amperes at 120 volts.) The auroras generally occur along the "auroral ovals," which center on the magnetic poles (not the geographic poles) and roughly correspond with the Arctic and Antarctic circles. There are times, though, when the lights are.farther south, usually when there are a lot of sunspots. Sunspot activity follows an 11-year cycle.
The Grand Canyon
Tumblr media
The Grand Canyon located in Arizona is truly a spectacular sight. It's hard to look at the canyon and not be curious about geology. Rock that dates back 1.8 billion years lies at the bottom. Exactly how the river formed the canyon is still unclear, but geologists generally agree that most of the cutting occurred within the last five million years.
 The Great Barrier Reef
Tumblr media
The Great Barrier reef is the largest living organism in the world and cover an area almost twice the size of Italy. The reef can be seen from outer space. Thirty species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises and 17 species of sea snake have been recorded in the Great Barrier Reef.
Harbor at Rio
Tumblr media
The Rio de Janeiro Harbor is regarded as one of the most intriguing of the Seven natural wonders of the world. The reason for this is that it plays tricks on the eye to all that behold it, sometimes looking like the mouth of a river and at other times looking like a beautiful lake. Indeed, the Harbor of Rio de Janeiro is like no other and is simply a naturally formed harbor. This is why it deserves its place on the list of the Natural wonders of our world.
Victoria Falls
Tumblr media
Victoria Falls also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya 'The Smoke that Thunders' - forms the largest curtain of falling water on the planet and is one of the world's greatest natural spectacles and a must see when on safari in AfricaVictoria Falls waterfall is on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe in Africa One can view the falls face on (mostly from the Zimbabwe side), as facing the falls is another sheer wall of basalt, rising to the same height and capped by a mist-soaked rainforestIn Nov 1855 the falls were made known to the outside world by David Livingstone and the town in Zambia was named after him
Mount Paricutin
Tumblr media
The story of Paricutin is a fascinating one. From flat ground, the volcano grew to a height of 1100 feet in just one year! Paricutin is part of a large volcanic field that covers much of west central Mexico, but Paricutin is unique due to the fact that it formed such a short time ago.
Mount Everest
Tumblr media
Mt Everest is a really really big mountain in nepal in fact it is the biggest in the world. Its safest year was 1998 when out of 126 people that tried to climb it only 8 died, she stands at 29000ft.
Roraima
Tumblr media
Serving as inspiration for Sir Author Conan Doyels The Lost World T. Roramia is truly worth honorable mention as a wonder of the natural world. Mount Roraima is also home to angel falls (click the picture for a complementary photo of angel falls) a waterfall that in itself is worth the journey. Mount Roraima is the highest of the Pakaraima mountain chain in South America. The 31 square kilometer summit area of Mount Roraima is defined by 400 meter tall cliffs on all sides and includes the borders of Brazil, Venezuela, and Guyana. The tabletop mountains of the Pakaraima’s are considered some of the oldest geological formations on Earth, dating back to some two billion years ago. The result is the staggering landscape of Mount Roriama The top of Roraima is so high and isolated that much like Austrailia or Madagascar their are species of animals that can be found no where eles on earth and because of the remoteness of the area many of those species have yet to be identified, Truly a lost world.

I wonder if you would give a shoutout to the YouTube Channel TierZoo, since it too covers that we live on space austrailia and what ridiculous abilities we and other animals have - with the difference that it presents earth as a game.
Consider it done anon!

My predictions for the next millennium of "humanity"
Earth is basically fucked, the scientists and engineers pulled a reverse austrailia on them. As a result, NASA changes their base of operation from Huston Texas to New Huston on Earth's Moon.
Mars colonists will rebel and win. No longer being regarded as a "captive audience"
Mars eventually becomes the Robot Home World, due to large supplies of iron and silicon. The first Robot Majority city is founded.
Venus becomes the a hot-spot for planetary residence, citizens living in the sky like a jetson. Eventually phasing out solar satellite arrays for geothermal arrays along the tethers connecting the habitats to the planets surface.
The moons of Jupiter and Saturn become highly inhabited and industrialized. If you live on one of them, space travel will be a common occurrence for you.
Earth is on fire again.
Mercury becomes a mining boom planet, exporting large amounts of iron and silicon to the rest of the solar system.
Life spreads throughout the solar system, and by "life" I mean self replicating mining robots that scour the asteroid belt, Martian, and Mercurian surface. Mutating so much that they basically develop their own food chain.
Earth is briefly not on fire. But then Austrialia somehow freezes.
We manage to perfect nuclear fusion technology, briefly un-perfect it, and then perfect it again. Allowing for highly efficient power generators powered by Helium-3, colloquially known as "Moon Water" due it Earth's Moon being the largest exporter of it.
We manage to create a perfect simulation the atom.
We either prove or disprove string theory.
A species of cephalopod gains sentience and earth just shoots them into space and "let's the nerds handle it." The nerds handle it very well, and welcomes the Cephalo Sapien as the Humans name them. Translation isn't 1 to 1 but it's effective enough.
Here comes Neptune!

Birthdays
This one kinda came to me just because it’s my Girlfriends birthday today but what if aliens didn’t celebrate birthdays. It wouldn’t be a far stretch as to why they might not, they might simply not see the point in being celebratory for another year of living since they probably don’t live on a deathworld that’s constantly trying to kill them.
—————————————————————
It had been three months since Zorlack first started working on board the ship and he had learned a fair amount about human customs during that time. One of these customs being birthdays. It was a rather unusual one compared to others; it seemed to be centred around a single human instead of being an equal celebration for all and there didn’t seem to be a set date as different humans were celebrated on their own day of the year.
From Zorlacks perspective the celebrations seemed totally random since there wasn’t a garunteed date like other human celebrations such as Hanukkah or Easter. It was about a week ago when Zorlack first discovered the celebration when a surprise party was held for the human.
He was talking to one of the female crewmembers of whom seemed a little disappointed, which was worrying to him as it could’ve led to a lack of productivity. As a result he attempted at consolidating her to keep morale up (of which he admittedly wasn’t the best at but it was an attempt) as they walked to the control room which was suspiciously dark despite it supposedly being an active work station.
As the human turned on the lights, presumably for better visibility, they were met with a loud and, frankly intimidating, greeting of which Zorlack proceeded to jump, turning a nasty shade of pink before attempting at hiding behind the female humans two legs. The human, however seemed positively delighted at the scene of varied colour schemes, large amounts of food and loud welcome.
Apparently it was a “surprise birthday party” held in her honour. Upon further inquiry Zorlack discovered that this was done for all humans on their day of hatching. “But isn’t that rather confusing? Having to remember the days of dozens of hatchings?” Zorlack asked, curious as to how they do it. “Well yeah, it gets a bit confusing if you have loads of friends but if you just have a couple then it gets easier to remember” was his reply from the human Alice.
“But why do you celebrate? There doesn’t seem to be a set purpose” he inquired further. “I think it was because ages ago you’d be lucky to live very long so people celebrated living this long” she shrugged before moving on to more cake.
This made more sense, the humans did develop on a class A deathworld after all; nearly everything tried to kill them at all times. Zorlack hypothesised that due to the humans social nature they used the very premise of survival as an excuse to hold celebrations. Though he did enjoy the cheery atmosphere and the uplifting sound vibrations (music they called it); he had to ask for no more surprises. There was only so much his anatomy could take.
(Feel free to add on, give improvement feedback or just wish my Girlfriend happy birthday 🥳 :3 )

Another “humans are weird” concept. Dreams. Hat if other aliens don’t dream and have no idea what it is. So we come skipping downstairs in the morning and say something like “hey Or’thn, I had the weirdest dream about you! You were pole-dancing with Michelle Obama!” and they’re all like, “what is this ‘dreaming’ you’re talking about? I would NEVER! Oh dear, did I actually do that? Is a dream another word for memory? I must have been drugged!”
